Briefly: With less than one month to go until The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theatres, LionsGate has just debuted the final trailer for the anticipated sequel.

I wasn’t overly impressed (or impressed at all, really) with the first film in the series, but everything I’ve seen from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has looked like a substantial improvement. I’m actually really looking forward to donning my Katniss costume on November 22nd, and jumping in line at my local cinema.

Just kidding about the costume…

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited! What did you think of last year’s The Hunger Games?

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Briefly: The highly anticipated sequel to last year’s The Hunger Games is just over a month away from theatres, and Entertainment Weekly has just got their hands on a trio of new stills from the film.

Briefly: During this year’s incredible San Diego Comic-Con, Lionsgate debuted a fantastic new trailer for the wildly anticipated The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Katniss and Peeta’s incredible victory has given people something that the capitol never wanted them to have: hope. As Katniss and Peeta are the source of this hope, they clearly need to be exterminated (and in a subtle and non-obvious way). I have to say that while I didn’t love (or even really like) the first Hunger Games film, Catching Fire appears to be a much more serious, much more adult picture, and based on this new preview, I’m now quite fascinated with how things may turn out.

Take a look at the new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire below, and let us know what you think! The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Jena Malone, Woody Harrelson, and plenty of others, and is set to hit theatres on November 22nd.

Did you manage to get into Hall H for this one? Let us know what you saw!

While I didn’t love (or even really like) The Hunger Games, its sequel is really beginning to look like one to watch out for. The first trailer for the film premiered back in April, and despite watching it with much skepticism, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed.

Lionsgate has just revealed a new poster for the film, and it really helps solidify the fact that Katniss is a bad ass. Those of you that have read the books, are you looking forward to the second film?

Along with a cool new clip for Iron Man 3, tonight’s MTV Movie Awards also featured the premiere of the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. A year after our victor’s return to their homes, President Snow forces them (and other champions) back for another round. So, I guess we can think of Catching Fire as a more violent Survivor: All Stars?

Yesterday, Lionsgate’s Capitol Couture marketing began with our first look at Elizabeth Banks in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Things ramped up today, and a batch of new Capitol Portraits have been released. Check out images of Ceasar, Haymitch, Cinna, and Katniss below, and let us know what you think!

You’ll be able to catch up with Katniss, Peeta, and the rest of the gang when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theatres on November 21st!

Lionsgate today launched a new campaign promoting the anticipated sequel to last year’s The Hunger Games. Capitol Couture is a faux-publication that offers us a first look at this year’s Capitol portraits. The images also look to make pretty clever character posters!

First up is Effie Trinket, portrayed by Elizabeth Banks. The site describes the image as “Head to heel in couture, Effie enchants in an exploding silhouette of chiffon and organza blooms. Never one to waver in her fashionable footwear, her heel-less boots are shod with a golden horse-shoe platform.”

Another portrait is set to unlock later today, so check back this evening for that one!

Getting hungry for Catching Fire? Just nine more months until you’ll finally get a chance to return to Panem.

In the meantime, Lionsgate today released the first official posters for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The first image features Peeta and Katniss in a propaganda style image of their ‘Victory Tour’ through Panem, while the second looks to be a very, very wide shot of that first image.

Kevin Tancharoen, the director of the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot, has just released a sizzle reel that he put together while pitching to Lionsgate to get the director spot for The Hunger Games. The film of the sizzle reel is definitely different from the version that we saw in theaters. It appears that Tancharoen would have gone for a darker film with more science-fiction elements than the Gary Ross version. Check out the sizzle reel below as well as an except from an interview he did with /Film.

/Film: It seems like a lot of upcoming directors are now putting together these video reels for their studio pitches. When did this start, and when did you discover this practice?

Tancheroen: The idea of a “pitch reel” has been around for awhile and is very common practice for any director. Trying to pitch a vision to a room full of people is always very difficult verbally. In the past two years, the pitch reel has significantly become more demanding since technology allows for people to make mini movies in their own homes. It’s almost expected for a director to show some visual materials, but the need to impress has become elevated. At first, it was just some concept art, some storyboards and possibly a treatment. Then the rip-o-matic (a visual reel using clips from other movies to portray a visual style) became really popular. I even know some directors who do a full animatic at their expense just to take into a meeting.

Check out the full interview here.

Over the past couple of weeks there has been a ton of cast announcements for the upcoming sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. But there has been one role that fans have been waiting to hear and it was announced today. Sam Claflin, who you probably know best from Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White And The Hunstman, has been cast as Finnick!

Charismatic and clever, Finnick was a District 4 Hunger Games victor when he was fourteen. The character is best known for his proficiency with a trident, his skills as a swimmer, and his irresistible charm and good looks. With addition of Claflin as Finnick, the last major piece of the casting puzzle has fallen into place for the upcoming sequel. Claflin joins Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, and Amanda Plummer as one of the main new additions to the franchise.

Deadline is reporting that Jena Malone (Sucker Punch) has been cast in the role of Johanna Mason in the sequel to The Hunger Games. Other actresses had been up for the role and Malone was first rumored to be in talks earlier in the month and has now officially signed on. Johanna Mason is the female victor of an unidentified Games from District 7. She was reaped for the third Quarter Quell. She was one of the youngest tributes in the Quarter Quell. She is the last living female victor of District 7, whose principal industry is lumber. In her original Hunger Games, Johanna pretended to be a weakling, feigning hunger and fatigue, when in reality she was sly and cunning. She is considered to be most psychologically scarred Quarter Quell participants.

Update: Well we reported this almost a month ago and now it’s official. Variety is reporting that Lionsgate officially announced today that Phillip Seymour Hoffman is indeed joining the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Thanks for reporting that Variety but we pretty much knew that a month ago!

Earlier today Variety’s Jeff Sneider tweeted  that Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been offered a role in the highly anticipated sequel to ‘The Hunger Games’. But what role would he be playing?

According to Wikipedia:

“In the 74th Hunger Games, he is the judge that falls into the punch bowl when Katniss shoots an arrow at the apple in the suckling pig’s mouth. In Catching Fire, he is the new Head Gamemaker following the execution of Seneca Crane. He is later shown to be the leader of the rebellion movement in the Districts, and is the mastermind behind the plan to break the tributes out of the arena in Catching Fire.”

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is set to hit theaters November 22, 2013.
