Disney Interactive has released a new Disney Infinity 2.0 trailer, showing off their two newest character reveals, (which means two more figures we’ll have to throw money at). After teasing Stitch last week, the adorably destructive alien is joined by Peter Pan‘s Tinkerbell, both of which will be able to work their magic in the Toy Box mode of the game.

While two new Disney based additions to the roster are definitely welcomed, the bigger news might be the new vehicles and environments hinted at in the trailer. A Gravity Falls theme? Darkwing Duck’s Ratcatcher motorcycle complete with side car? It begs the question… What else will 2.0 have in store for us when it releases? Either way, it looks like the game is looking to include properties spanning generations to reach the young and the young at heart.

Considering that many people were concerned over a potential lack of Disney with the obvious focus on Marvel, these additions on top of the previously revealed Maleficent and Merida figures ease those concerns a little bit. Even still, we’re yet to see any Disney themed Play Sets, so we won’t know if we’ll be able to take these new characters into their own campaigns until later. With that said, these figures and items are seemingly great additions, especially when you consider Stitch’s blasters and Stitch’s surfboard, (complete with Stitch on the nose), were in the first game, making his inclusion overdue. What if Stitch rides the surfboard though? Stitchception!?

Which characters, items and themes do you want to see make it in? Does seeing The Ratcatcher in a new game hit that nostalgia bone? And who else wants to see some Rescue Rangers content next? Tell us what you want to play with when Disney Infinity releases this fall!

It was around E3 last year when we brought you the news that a third Guilty Gear was on its way. How Arc System Works finds the time to make so many fighters at the same time, but its undeniable that Persona 4 Arena and BlazBlue both are heavily influenced by the game that put the developer on the map. Not to be outdone, Guilty Gear Xrd: -Sign- brings the series back, complete with a brand new look and the fast, frantic fighting we fell in love with so many years ago.

Featuring popular characters from past versions like Sol, Ky, I-No and Jam on top of a new, powerful character with Bedman, seeing it in motion left me feeling like Xrd just might be the most gorgeous 2D fighter that I’ve seen yet. Using 3D models that are as bright, animated and fluid as a 2D sprite, the game almost looks like an anime in motion. There were a few times that I had to double check to make sure the opening and victory screens were in-engine and not pre-rendered cutscenes.

Guilty Gear Xrd Screen 1

But aside from the flash and glamour that comes with the updated visuals, Guilty Gear is still as fast, fluid and fun as its always been, and the switch to 3D models hasn’t slowed it down one bit. Playing as the two cover boys, Sol and Ky, it took me back to years ago when the series was making a name for itself in the arcades and on the PS2. All of their moves, specials and instant kill attacks make their return as well as a few new tricks, all of which are faithfully recreated in this new engine.

Fighting fans, if you haven’t seen this thing in motion, you HAVE to check out the latest trailer and be blown away with the rest of us. Thankfully, playing the console version in person proves that the game plays every bit as good as it looks, so there’s no doubt that Xrd will be at the top of my list come this holiday season.

Guilty Gear Xrd: -Sign- is scheduled for a PS3 and PS4 release at the end of the year.

While it shouldn’t have been much of a surprise, I was a little taken aback when a new Uncharted title was confirmed to be in the works for the PS4 late last year. With the success of The Last Of Us, I fully expected developer Naughty Dog to fully focus their efforts on expanding that universe instead of returning to the world of thieves that was so thoroughly explored across three games starring Nathan Drake. Still, the thought of a new title in the popular series is easy to get excited about, which is why Sony closed their E3 press conference with a glimpse at what we can expect come 2015.

Seemingly taking place years after Drake’s last adventure, the treasure hunter is spotted waking up in the middle of the jungle while a conversation plays in the background between him and his longtime companion, Sully, explaining how they’re going to chase after one last job together. But Nathan is older. He’s been out of the treasure hunting game for years. It’s hinted at that he might not know what he’s dealing with anymore. But this last job will be an easy one… or will it? As Sully says, they’re never easy.

Some heavy themes are being hinted at with this fourth game, now titled A Thief’s End. Will this really be Drake’s final adventure? Or is the title hinting at a different tragedy is in the cards for one of his friends?

The trailer doesn’t give us a whole lot to go by, so let the speculation begin! What are you hoping to see in what can potentially be the last Uncharted game? Sound off below!

Sony had a handful of exclusive games that they aimed to show off at their big E3 press conference, one of which was a new IP from one of the craziest minds in gaming today.

Let It Die is the latest game to come form notorious game designer, Suda 51, and his team over at Grasshopper Studios. Heading to the Playstation 4 in 2015, not much was shown in the short teaser trailer. With that said, there are at least three things we can assume.

One, the way that the names and health bars were next to each character as the camera focused on them makes it safe to assume that this will be some sort of online title.

Two, the game looks creepy as hell, which means we’ll hopefully be able to experience some tense game play when the game finally comes out.

And lastly, considering the logo of the game has the grim reaper on a skateboard, we won’t have to think to hard to understand that this game will likely be way out there. After all, if games like Killer 7, No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer Is Dead are any indication, we know that this new title will be anything but normal.

Watch the trailer below and let us know if there’s anything we missed. Are you ready to experience what the next Suda game will have to offer? What’s your favorite game that’s come from his insanity/genius? Let us know, and keep an eye on Geekscape for more information on Let It Die as it becomes available.

If you followed our live blog, (and honesty, why wouldn’t you have?), it’s no surprise that we weren’t particularly wowed by Sony’s E3 conference. While it seems like the widespread reaction to their showing was generally tepid, one game shined as one of the definite standouts of the show. One that promised infinite possibilities in a living, breathing online world, giving us an endless amount of space to explore. That title was No Man’s Sky.
Watching the game’s E3 trailer showed off the incredible concepts that can be conceived by a group of passionate developers like the ones at Hello Games. Much of that passion spilled out through the words that were spoken as the game was unveiled to the world, showing off large, lush planets to explore. With a seemingly infinite space that we’ll be able to fly in and out of with seamless ease, the fact that every player will start with their own planet and can potentially interact with thousands of people as they travel through this growing universe means what we were left with was one of the most ambitious games of the entire show. See, who says you need a multimillion dollar budget, Hollywood voice actors or immature amounts of violence that tries too hard to be edgy to get gamers interested.
The only blemish that No Man’s Sky created on the conference as a whole was like the majority of Sony’s release list, this would only be a temporary PS4 exclusive, potentially coming to other platforms on a later date. Regardless, the scope, ambition and innovation the title is planning to bring is something that has to be seen. Watch Sony’s trailer from E3 and let us know if you’re as impressed as we are, then come back and let us know if you’re hitting the download button when No Man’s Sky releases in the near future.

Briefly: During last night’s Sony E3 press conference, the company finally revealed when PS4 players will be able to get their hands on The Last of Us.

The game will be available digitally and in-store on July 29th. Sony also revealed a gorgeous new trailer that shows us what the new version will actually look like.

Naughty Dog says that “The trailer is full 1080p and rendered in 60fps, which is what we’re targeting for the game. We’re working on various improvements such as higher resolution character models, improved lighting and shadows, upgraded textures, functionality unique to the PS4 controller and more. You’ll get the complete The Last of Us experience as the PS4 version includes the highest rated DLC exclusive to PlayStation, Left Behind, all difficulty modes (including Grounded Mode the newest, hardest difficulty level) for single player and both our multiplayer map packs, Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories.”

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you plan on picking this one up.

Immediately following the trailer for the upcoming Ratchet and Clank movie, Sony briefly announced that a full remake of the original platformer for the PS2 is in the works, likely to launch near the theatrical release of the film.

Bringing the charm, wit and vibrant world of Ratchet and Clank to movie screens was a surprising, yet logical move when it was announced last year. Seemingly acting as a retelling of the first game, (with Ratchet sporting his updated Tools of Destruction looks as opposed to that shirtless…. thing), it looks like fans both old and new will have something fresh to look forward to as Sony brings attempts its first film based on one of their game properties.

After over 10 games that span three platforms, it’s safe to say that the series has become one of Sony’s most beloved. The added news that we’ll get a PS4 iteration of the title with the team at Insomniac back at the helm can only be good news.

My only problem is… Is it necessary? We just got an HD collection of the entire series a little over a year ago on the PS3, so making an HD-er version so soon after might be a tough sell. On the bright side, the game will surely be a complete remake instead of the halfhearted “HD” versions we’ve become so used to, so the more improvements to the original that we can get, the better.

But as a wise man once said, it doesn’t matter what I think! Will you pick up a remake of the PS2 classic? And will you be in line to watch the movie when it comes out next year? Check out the trailer and be heard in the comments!

We’ve watched. We’ve waited. We’ve suffered through delays and had to plod through a lackluster prequel, but at Sony’s E3 conference, we were finally able to watch Batman: Arkham Knight in action. And I have to say, it was well worth the wait.

Featuring both on foot and the long awaited Batmobile segments, watching Batman glide through a full fledged Gotham City looked incredible, finally showing us a glimpse of what this generation of consoles will be able to do.

Combat looks just as brutal and bone crunching as ever, only now with a wider variety of areas to stalk your enemies thanks to the larger city. Once Batman summons the Batmobile, everything changes. The thing plows through the environment like nobody’s business, (because that’s what superheroes do; they destroy the city in the name of protection!) While his enemies are ready with the addition of enemy vehicles, the goddamn Batman is always prepared, transforming his vehicle into a high powered tank.

Closing with a chilling warning from The Scarecrow, I’m thrilled to be going toe to toe against the best villain of the Arkham games in the lead role. Or I hope it’s the lead role at least. We all know what happened to Black Mask, Hugo Strange, Ra’s Al Ghul… but I’m ready to experience Batman in a post Joker world.

Relive the amazing trailer below and keep checking back with Geekscape for breaking E3 news as it becomes available.

EA’s 2014 press conference is live at 12pm, and we’re here at E3 to tell you everything the company has coming.

We know that Mirror’s Edge 2 will be making an appearance, and we’d bet they’ll be showing off Battlefield: Hardline too, but what else could EA have in store for us? SimCity DLC? A new Army of Two title? Another Command & Conquer? Some sort of sports game?

Read on, find out, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: DriveClub just got a release date, and it’s not the early 2014 launch that gamers were hoping for.

Sony revealed the date of October 7th, 2014, with a trailer showing off some gorgeous new footage of the title.

Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE Worldwide Studios said that:

We planned for the game to be ready for early 2014 and are committed to delivering on our ambitious promise of creating a truly innovative, socially connected racing game.

The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What DRIVECLUB offers has not been previously achieved in this category, and, because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for.

In addition to the new date, we are also very pleased to announce that as of February 2014, Paul Rustchynsky — better known as Rushy — has been at the helm of DRIVECLUB as Game Director. We appreciate the announcement has come a little late, however we wanted to inform his appointment along with the new date announcement.

His experience when it comes to delivering racing games is impeccable. Previously Game Director on critically acclaimed MotorStorm RC, he has been an integral contributor to all major titles coming out of Evolution Studios since 2004. With Rushy in the lead, we know DRIVECLUB will deliver on its initial promise to be a truly next gen racing title for our PS4 portfolio.

We are really proud of the incredible work the team has produced — their tenacity and passionate pursuit of excellence is admirable, and DRIVECLUB will be all the better for it.

Your anticipation for the title since my last update has been a huge source of motivation for the team at Evolution Studios, and I know they are all extremely grateful for your continued support. Look out for plenty more news on DRIVECLUB in the coming weeks, including a blog update direct from Rushy tomorrow, and don’t forget, the date is in the trailer. I hope you enjoy watching it.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game!

Briefly: Sony just announced The Last of Us Remastered yesterday, and today the publisher has launched the game’s first trailer.

The video is filled with quotes of praise from various outlets, and only showcases a small piece of (albeit gorgeous) footage. It’s still pretty exciting as, well, we’re getting The Last of Us on PS4, so take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’ll be playing again on Sony’s newest console!

Briefly: A few weeks back it was rumoured that The Last of Us would be making its way to Sony’s PS4 this Summer.

Sony has just made the rumour official by announcing The Last of Us Remastered on their official blog. The added power of the PS4 has allowed the team at Naughty Dog (the port is being handled internally… always good news) to “remaster an already phenomenal looking The Last of Us in 1080p with a list of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more improvements.”

The Last of Us has won over 200 Game of the Year Awards (including a couple from us at Geekscape) and I’m beyond excited to hear that it’s coming to Sony’s newest console, both because I really want to play the game again, and I’m also happy that gamers who missed out on the stellar game the first time around will be getting another chance to play.

The remastered edition will include the base game, plus all of the expansions (including the excellent single-player chapter, Left Behind), and will also feature an “exclusive director’s commentary for all in-game cinematics featuring Creative Director and Writer, Neil Druckmann; Voice Actor, Troy Baker, who plays Joel; and BAFTA Award winning Voice Actress, Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie.”

The Last of Us Remastered will release this Summer. Will you be picking it up?

In recent weeks, the topic of game length has been a hot one. With games like Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and South Park: The Stick Of Truth getting knocked because of their length, (the former being beatable in under six minutes), the question keeps popping up. Should length be a deciding factor in terms of whether or not a game is worth buying? After all, the point of gaming is to have fun, regardless of if the game lasts five hours or five minutes. On the other side, when gamers are expected to spend $60 on a game that can be completely finished in a sitting or two, it’s easy to see why so many people are up in arms about the dwindling hour per dollar ratio games today are pulling in. But as long as the game is fun, should length really matter?

There are plenty of games that back up the idea that length doesn’t make a game. Take Portal for example. Clocking in at roughly three hours on a first run, its level of wit, innovation and solid game mechanics launched it into legendary status. Does the fact that it can be finished in less time than it takes to download a PS3 update make it any less great? It definitely didn’t stop it from being one of my favorite games of all time. Even back when I was a kid, games were routinely $60 and could be finished in even less time than Portal, but people didn’t make nearly as big of a stink over it as gamers do today, (unless you were our parents).

Game Length PortalThe cake was a lie, but the value wasn’t!

So what’s different about today that makes it a big deal compared to the days of bit wars and pixels? Namely, standards have changed a great deal since then. Many of today’s gamers seem to have became “hardcore gamers”, (a term that I hate, but it works nonetheless), during the PS1 or PS2 days if my Gamestop days indicate anything. Back then, the standard PS1 game was $40 with $50 being saved for your big games like the Final Fantasy series. Even short $60 games like Star Fox 64, (which gave my mom a heart attack when I proudly announced that I beat it the same morning we bought it), had multiple paths that were hard to find without a guide, two endings, medal challenges, a multiplayer mode that still holds up and a RUMBLE PAK! Definitely worth the price I think.

Game Length Star FoxStar Fox 64 was short, but oooooh so sweet!

Fast forward to the HD era, and you have games that not only cost more, but are either much shorter or hold back content through DLC, sometimes both! Additionally, as I mentioned before, past games were traditionally cheaper and provided more content. It’s easy to see why gamers are unhappy with this idea of being asked to pay $60 for a 12 hour RPG with no new game plus or content outside of the story, or a prologue game charging $30 for an hour or two of campaign play.

However, focusing too much on length pressures developers to pad their games with meaningless content for the sole purpose of making them longer. Games like Knack would have been much better received if they got to the point hours sooner, instead of dragging out the story for fifteen hours when the game play didn’t support it. What we were left with was a game that didn’t know when to quit, expecting us to find enjoyment with the same abilities we learned in the tutorial all the way through. Protip: That didn’t happen. Even great games like Resident Evil 4 could have done without the majority of the Salazar section of the game. How many times did we have to rescue Ashley again?

Game Length Resident Evil 4RE4 was great. It would have been better with less of this guy.

With that said, length definitely belongs in the discussion as to whether or not a game is worth it as long as the content is strong. Take a game like Lightning Returns. It has a long campaign that rarely feels like filler, has addicting game play mechanics and tons of side and new game + content. Compare that to Stick Of Truth, a game that released only a month later. It was highly enjoyable for a plethora of reasons, but aside from the story, there was almost nothing to do after the credits rolled. The only reason I would replay it is to laugh at its fantastic plot, but I could get that from a Let’s Play on YouTube. I couldn’t get the same experience from Lightning Returns unless I played it, which further adds to its value. I fully understand that South Park took a lot of time, funding and writing from Matt Stone and Trey Parker to make it come to life, but couldn’t it have had a bonus dungeon that didn’t require new dialogue? A new game plus? The ability to go back to completed dungeons? Anything? No? Okay then…

Game Length South ParkStick Of Truth‘s biggest flaw was its “city” amount of content.

But the biggest issue that I have as a reviewer, is whether or not that should affect scores. Reviews absolutely should call out games for being padded or being too short if the game had the potential to offer more, but as time goes on and prices drop, (which can happen as early as a month after release lately), the value goes up. So when someone buys Ground Zeroes in a year at $10 and looks up reviews after he finishes, (naturally to see how many people share his or her opinion since it’s the only one that’s right), and thinks the reviewers are idiots for knocking the game’s length. After all, this person got it for $10, and $10 for a few hours is definitely better than $30. Over time, the length becomes less and less relevant compared to the price, which makes that review become less relevant in the process.

Game Length InternetTrue Story.

In the end, the best games are the ones that know how long its content can stay entertaining, but if two games are equally entertaining, but one lasts longer, I don’t know how it could be argued that length isn’t important. The end goal of gaming is to have fun, so as long as that goal can be reached, that’s what’s most important, but can we agree that games like Portal  were appropriately priced? And that its sequel was justified in its $40 price hike since its campaign was easily close to triple its length on top of an entirely separate co op campaign? What about the idea that Lightning Returns offers much more value than South Park? And can’t we agree that sequels especially shouldn’t have less content than its predecessors, (like InFamous: Second Son compared to its two prequels)? There’s no way that this can’t be considered anything but a problem, and it seems to be growing. Taking everything in consideration, while length doesn’t come close to the end all be all of whether or not a game is great, it’s impossible to say that length shouldn’t matter.

Don’t agree? Of course you don’t, it’s the Internet! Did you love Ground Zeroes despite its length? Or maybe you have your own examples of games that are too long? Let me know what your take on the situation is!

While we might not be getting a sequel to The Last Of Us anytime soon, we could be getting the next best thing instead if a recent report is to be believed.

In an interview with the Turkish website Multiplayer,  PlayStation’s Eurasian Software Market Manager Sercan Sulun stated that the game that many consider 2013’s game of the year could be heading to the Playstation 4 as early as this summer, complete with enhanced graphics and the Left Behind DLC included on disc.

The translation states:

“There is no information about a new The Last of Us game but I can share this knowledge; as of this summer, The Last of Us will be on the PS4. Both on PSN and physically.”

“The PS4 version will also include the DLC so you will be able to play ‘Left Behind’ as well.”

This is good news for someone like me who never picked up the original and is DYING to play something great on the PS4, even if it’s a port of a game that’s less than a year old. If nothing else, this puts the entirety of the game in one neat package for all to enjoy.

Will you be picking up this version of the game assuming this information becomes official? Comment below!

It’s been rumored, officially teased and now finally unveiled at Sony’s GDC press conference, their foray into the VR Headset field with Project Morpheus. Not to be confused the NASA Project Morpheus, Sony’s Project Morpheus has it’s sights set on the home user.

Speaking of sight, Sony outlined their definitions of what makes a good VR setup. Sight being the driving factor, Project Morpheus relies HEAVILY on the power of the PS4, and promises to give the user total spacial awareness. Second is sound, and Sony has been no slouch when it comes to high quality portable sound. They are focusing a lot of energy into spacial and directional sound. Lastly they want ease of use to perform a vital role in the home VR experience. Project Morpheus mimics the Dual Shock controller and the Move in terms of communication ease.

They listed a group of partners that are already onboard with Project Morpheus, those include:

  • Havok Engine
  • Epic Games
  • Crytek
  • Bitsquad
  • CriWare
  • Autodesk
  • Silicon Studio
  • Unity Engine
  • Fmod
  • Wwise
  • DDD
  • Gigantic

The stats of the device themselves are not to shabby. They include a 1080P screen for each eye, 90 degrees field of view, both an accelerometer and gyroscope and can interface via a USB and HDMI cable.

No release date has been announced.

I personally don’t find VR to be TOO appealing, but Sony really has come out guns blazing. Coupled with the new Move controller and the very power PS4, I don’t think Project Morpheus is going to be a shabby product.

Be sure to check out more GDC coverage right HERE at Geekscape!

Briefly: You read that title right, Sony’s Playstation 4 console is not getting a price drop, but a price hike up in the great white North.

Sony confirmed the new price to the Toronto Sun earlier today, which notes the reason for the price change as “to respond to changes in the market environment,” though the Canada to US dollar value was not mentioned.

Dualshock 4 controllers and the Playstation Camera will also see a $5 increase. All pricing goes into effect tomorrow, so Canadians, if there’s a PS4 somewhere that you were thinking about picking up (unlikely as they’re essentially sold out everywhere all the time), I’d jump on the unit before tomorrow comes.

Will this hurt the PS4’s presence in Canada? Have you been able to find a console yet? Sound out below! Is this the first official price hike in console history?

It’s no secret that Kingdom Hearts has a massive, dedicated fanbase. I mean, they have to be REALLY dedicated to wait so patiently for a sequel that won’t be released until about 10 years after its predecessor. Square Enix knows that, which is why they posted a link encouraging their fans to sound off and provide their feedback towards the series, potentially shaping how Kingdom Hearts III will finally be released in the process.

Most of the questions, (which can be found at this link), are pretty run of the mill, but the most exciting section is asking what fans would want in a collector’s edition of Kingdom Hearts III, with options such as statues, figures, soundtracks, artbooks and making of DVDs. Me? I voted for all of them. I’m a greedy guy.

The survey will only be up until March 14th at 11:59 PM, so all you Sora cosplayers better get on it! Until then, why not relive the amazing moment at E3 when the game was finally announced. We still don’t have a release date, but it can’t be too much longer… Right?

)

Briefly: Well, this isn’t good.

Right before the PS4 launch in November of last year, Sony announced that they were delaying their new IP and new flagship racer, Driveclub, into 2014.

IGN has just reported that Evolution Studios, the developer behind the Sony-owned title (and Sony’s earlier Motorstorm series), was going ‘back to the drawing board’ in order to turn Driveclub into something great.

Sony’s Scott Rhode said that “What I will say is that it all comes back to that fundamental principle, and that’s that we want to build great games. And we really don’t want to release a game before it’s ready. And sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realize that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready.”

When asked if the game would still launch in calendar 2014, Rhode couldn’t comment.

What do you think of the news? With the Motorstorm team behind the title, you’d sure think they’d have something by now.

Briefly: Sony sold over 1 million PS4 consoles in the unit’s first 24 hours of availability, and tonight, the company revealed another milestone.

Since it’s debut in North America on November 15th, the Playstation 4 has sold over 2.1 million units. Here’s the official word, straight from SCE President Andrew House:

In what is shaping up to be a historic year for gamers, I’m delighted to share an important new milestone with you. PS4’s North American debut on November 15th was PlayStation’s largest ever, with more than one million gamers picking up a PS4 in just 24 hours. Now, with PS4’s global launch expanding to a total of 32 countries worldwide, including Europe and Latin America, I’m proud to announce that more than 2.1 million PS4s have been sold.

It’s an impressive and record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry, and we couldn’t have done it without you. I want to personally thank PlayStation fans, both old and new, for your vote of confidence. The best part: the PS4 journey has just begun. In addition to an incredible lineup of PS4 games from the best developers in the world, we will continue to introduce valuable new features and services to PS4 in the months and years ahead.

While PS4’s capabilities will continue to evolve, our commitment to gamers and breakthrough entertainment remains steadfast. We believe that videogames represent the pinnacle of artistry and entertainment, and we will work tirelessly to make sure that PlayStation remains the best place to play.

Thank you for your passion and your support — we couldn’t have done this without you.

Have you picked up a PS4 yet? Are you planning on getting one any time soon? Readers, feel free to add my PSN ID: CaptainK17! See you online!

Briefly: Well, the PS4 is a hit.

Sony revealed earlier today that in the first 24 hours of availability, the company’s newest console sold over 1 million units.

“PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. “Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support.”

In comparison, Nintendo’s latest home console, the Wii U, sold just 400,000 units in its first weekthe PS3 sold 197,000 in its first two weeks, and the Xbox 360 sold through 326,000 in its first two weeks.

Those are some pretty fantastic numbers! I waited outside my local Wal-Mart to get my hands on one (check out my unboxing here), and am loving it so far!

Did you pick up a console? How are you feeling about it so far? Feel free to add me on PSN at (CaptainK17)!

Briefly: With the release of the Playstation 4 just a few days away (I’m getting my camping gear ready), Sony has just debuted two new videos for Killzone: Shadow Fall.

The first is the game’s launch trailer, which focusses on the game’s plot, as well as showing off Vetka. The second video, labelled a ‘Tech Trailer’ shows off some of the great new technology coming to the game via the power of the Playstation 4.

Take a look at both videos below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Killzone: Shadow Fall with you PS4. I’m still trying to decide between it and Knack, any suggestions?

Set thirty years after the events of the Killzone trilogy, the world of Killzone Shadow Fall is a very different place. Forced together by circumstance, the two rival factions of the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall.

Briefly: With the launch of the Playstation 4 now less than a week away (arg… I still need to figure out where to line up), Sony has announced a few sweet goodies that will come with every PS4 console.

In North America, each unit will include a code for a 30 day trial of Playstation Plus (to get them hooked on the service from day one), a 30 day trial of Sony’s Music Unlimited service (seeing as the unit cannot play MP3’s…), and a voucher for $10 of Playstation Store credit (which is more than half way to another three months of Playstation Plus).

If you’re already a Playstation Plus subscriber, the 30 day trial won’t do anything for you, as it’s for new subscribers only. I’m also kind of hoping that Music Unlimited bombs, as that’s likely the only reason the console doesn’t support standard MP3 files. The $10 credit is pretty great though, I’m just hoping that day one owners are able to get into the store without issue!

What do you think of the goodies? Are you planning to pick up a PS4 on the 15th? Which launch game should I get!?

Briefly: A new, live-action trailer for Killzone: Shadow Fall has just debuted online.

The video, titled ‘Oaths and Promises’, is a clear example of the excellent marketing that Sony is using this generation (though it’s not nearly as good as this ad).

It also does a great job of reminding me that the PS4 comes out in 10 days, and I still haven’t figured out how to get my hands on one…

In any case, take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game! Killzone: Shadow Fall launches with the PS4 on November 15th!

It also contains some highly anticipated third-party titles, which include Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Battlefield 4. Briefly: Following rumours earlier this week, Sony today confirmed that Driveclub would not be releasing with the Playstation 4.

This follows Ubisoft’s news of the Watch Dogs delay from a few days back, meaning that in less than one week, the Playstation 4 has lost two of its biggest games (and one of its few exclusives).

Driveclub was originally slated to release alongside the Playstation 4 on November 15th, and Playstation Plus members (a service which is required for online play on the PS4) were set to receive a stripped-down version of the game for free.

The game will now launch in 2014, and Playstation Plus members will instead receive Compulsion Games’ wonderful looking ContrastDriveclub will be available to Playstation Plus members when the full game launches.

According to Sony, “We understand that the delay is disappointing news, but can assure you that the reason we have made this decision is to ensure that when DRIVECLUB launches, it will realize the next-gen racing vision. And PlayStation 4 gamers will have no shortage of titles to play this year. At launch alone, we have Killzone Shadow Fall, Knack, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, FIFA 14, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Battlefield 4 to name but a few, as well as the incredible list of indie games coming to PS4. A broad portfolio of games will be available on PS4 before the end of the year, and with games such as inFAMOUS Second Son, The Order 1886, Destiny, Watch Dogs and now DRIVECLUB coming next year, the strength of the software line-up on PS4 is unprecedented.”

Square Enix has been relatively silent about Kingdom Hearts 3 ever since its teaser reveal at E3 this year. Aside from a shot of Sora surfing on a sea of Heartless, that’s all we had to go on. But questions still remain, like how will it play? What will the this third game bring that hasn’t been seen before? How will it look on upgraded hardware? Thanks to a new trailer at the first ever Japanese Disney D23 convention, we have our first glimpse at these answers.

Overall, the game doesn’t look too different, (not that we’d expect them to make huge overhauls to a multimillion seller,) but watching Sora bashing Heartless with his Keyblade looked as reliable as ever. While much looked the same, (including same enemies, familiar environments and animations,) the spells shown seemed more useful, attacking all enemies in the area instead of just the targeted foe.

Spell improvement isn’t the only change shown, seen towards the end where Sora seems to summon amusement park rides to attack enemies. Whether these are part of the stages, an extension of the Flowmotion environment attacks from Kingdom Hearts 3D or actual summons is yet to be seen, but at least there’s work going into making the sequel more than just the same old thing.

If anything, it’s good to finally see KHIII in motion. It only took about eight years, right? Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Briefly: Sony has just released a hilarious new Playstation 4 commercial entitled ‘Perfect Day’.

The ad is short, and I don’t want to give anything away, so just take a look below, and let us know what you think!

I can’t wait to finally get my hands on the console (even if my most anticipated title, Watch Dogs, has just been delayed). I’m still trying to scrape the funds together, but I certainly hope the console can make me feel as great as this video did.

Which next-gen console (if any) are you planning to pick up?

Briefly: Finally.

Sony announced earlier this week that the Playstation 4 launch date would be revealed today at Gamescom. Their conference has come and gone, and we now know just when you’ll be able to pick up a PS4 of your very own… and it’s about damned time.

The PS4 will hit North America (US and Canada) on November 15th. As previously revealed, the console will cost a cool $399. European gamers will have to wait an extra two weeks, and can pick up a unit on November 29th (for €399 / £349).

Sony also revealed a price drop for the suffering PS Vita (down to $199, and it’s still not worth buying), and a release date for Gran Turismo 6 (December 6th)!

Briefly: The Playstation 4 is still without an official release date, but that is set to change very soon.

Instead of simply sharing the date with all of us eager fans, the company has announced that they will reveal their PS4 launch plans this Tuesday, August 20th.

Sony states “We’ll kick off the show at 18:00 BST on 20 August 2013 with a briefing to media on our release plans for PlayStation 4, as well as updates on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita”. You’ll be able to watch the reveal live here, which hopefully goes off without a hitch (unlike their 30-minute late, very inconsistent E3 conference).

We’ll be sure to share the news as soon as it’s announced! Are you planning to pick up the console?

When Call of Duty: Ghosts was previewed at the Xbox One conference, the aftermath felt like meme central. But between fish AI, “Collar Duty” jokes and lots of love for dogs, there was actually a game in there somewhere. Aside from the usual military shooter game play, the conference promised a weakened America, a new cast of characters and a much more desperate setting. These were all of the qualities I was keeping an eye out for when I stepped into Activision’s Ghosts presentation, and I was happy to walk out with a few surprises.

Ghosts will be the story of two brothers who are recruited by an elite squad of soldiers that tackle missions to protect a crippled United States. Traveling all around the world to locations such as Venezuela, The Caribbean and the deep, dark recesses of San Diego, each location was heavy on action. One mission had the Ghosts repelling down a building while picking off security forces on the way down. Another had them swimming underwater and blowing up a submarine with a torpedo launcher. All of this is made so much better by an obviously improved AI, so let’s hope the days of your team mates standing around looking into the distance while you get pumped full of led are long gone.

But who cares about the human partners! This game is all about Riley, the service dog that stole the show at the game’s reveal. What seemed like a simple squad member turns out to be so much more. In a dog focused stage, the main characters were able to give voice commands to their pet for various tactical functions. What’s even better is the game showed players taking direct control of Riley as he maps out paths, checks to make sure corners are safe with his back mounted camera and can even stealth take down enemy soldiers. Once the coast is clear, control comes back to the boring old humans to shoot stuff up. BUT… Riley was also seen being sent into rooms to ambush enemies and trigger breaches. On these sections alone, I’m more than excited to bury terrorists with an actual dog.

This is all framed with an overhauled graphics engine, including displacement mapping which makes terrain look even more realistic. New weapons include an underwater machine gun that’s based on real military tech, and more new guns are sure to follow. Multiplayer wasn’t shown in this demo, but as long as Call of Duty is in the title, you can expect plenty of multikills, upgrades and airstrikes when you take the fight online.

COD Ghosts Screen 2

All in all, Ghosts seems like overhauling the story, the settings and adding a dog of all things might be the next step in the evolution of the series. I know that nothing I write will help or hinder this game’s ability to sell tens of millions of copies, but I’m more excited for Ghosts than I’ve been for a COD game in a long, long time.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is coming to the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in November.
