Briefly: We’ve been having a blast with Nintendo’s Super Mario Run since its release last Thursday, and apparently so have many, many others.

Nintendo revealed today that game was downloaded more than 40 million times in its first four days of availability – far exceeding the numbers presented by various analytics firms, which noted between 2.85 and 5 million downloads as the game’s first day numbers.

Apple’s Phil Schiller noted that this marks an App Store record for the fastest-downloaded game. Whoah. The game has also sat atop the ‘Top Grossing’ section of the App Store for the past several days, meaning that Super Mario Run is making a lot of money.

Of course, while all of us are just excited to be playing a new, different, extra portable variation of Mario (with some slick extra modes to keep us going once we’ve collected every Black Coin), many individuals on the web are having a field day about the title. The game is currently rated 2/5 stars on the App Store, and essentially every single one-star review is simply complaining that the game costs money.

The whole thing really makes me think of Louis CK’s famous ‘Everything’s amazing and nobody’s happy’ bit. This game is freaking awesome, and worth every penny.

In any case, I’m off to run some Toad Rally. What’s been your favourite part of Super Mario Run thus far?

After a couple of months of silence, Nintendo has finally revealed the date and price for Super Mario Run.

The company announced that the game will be launching on December 15th for a limited time on the Apple app store. Android still has no release date. We do know the price now know. The initial trial of the game will be free, but afterwards you’ll have to pay $10 for a full unlock. Not everything has been expanded on (modes, android release, etc), but Nintendo is teasing more news about the game soon. Are you excited for Super Mario Run? Tell us in the comments below!

Briefly: You read that title right, Sony’s Playstation 4 console is not getting a price drop, but a price hike up in the great white North.

Sony confirmed the new price to the Toronto Sun earlier today, which notes the reason for the price change as “to respond to changes in the market environment,” though the Canada to US dollar value was not mentioned.

Dualshock 4 controllers and the Playstation Camera will also see a $5 increase. All pricing goes into effect tomorrow, so Canadians, if there’s a PS4 somewhere that you were thinking about picking up (unlikely as they’re essentially sold out everywhere all the time), I’d jump on the unit before tomorrow comes.

Will this hurt the PS4’s presence in Canada? Have you been able to find a console yet? Sound out below! Is this the first official price hike in console history?

Briefly: During today’s Microsoft press conference, the company finally revealed a detail that we’ve all been waiting for: the Xbox One’s price point.

The console is set to launch this November (exact date not set) in 21 countries, for $499, 499 Euros, or £429. 499 Euros? Ouch.

What do you think of the price? Will you be picking up an Xbox One? What did you think of the presentation?
