Like a plot point straight out The Wizard, Disney will be featuring a competition for Mario Kart 8!

Airing this Saturday, Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8 will have eight of the country’s best youngster racers (all of whom our very own Derek Kraneveldt would DESTROY) teaming up with popular YouTubers in an attempt to win a grand prize. Personalities that are on board for the show are Strawburry 17, our friend Andre from Black Nerd Comedy, AtomicMari and SethBling.

The show is a one hour, multi round tournament with a grand prize winner announced at the end. You can catch Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8 this Saturday, December 5th at 8 PM PST on Disney XD.

So scapists? What kind of video game competition shows would you like to see in the future?

The Korean pop sensation, PSY has just released promotional videos for two singles off his upcoming album PSY 7th Album. The one that got my attention is the video for the single Daddy. Check it out below.

Released just a few hours ago, the video has already hit almost half a million views. The song is very reminiscent of Gangnam Style, with a nice catchy repeating line in English. This is definitely the track that is going to get the most attention off this record.

The song features CL from the K-pop band 2NE1. I’m not a particularly HUGE fan of 2NE1, but they are probably the group most Westerners are familiar with. EDM fans will recognize CL from the collab she did with G-Dragon and Skrillex, Dirty Vibe.

The other PV that PSY released today is for the dual titled song, Bell-Bottoms (Napal Baji). This song is ostensibly “better” in my opinion, but it’s obvious that Daddy will be the juggernaut this time around. We probably won’t see another Macarena killer like we had with Gangnam Style, but this single comes pretty close.

PSY – 7th Album can be picked up on iTunes right now, and officially launches worldwide December 1st.

Jim Carrey’s serious films can be hit or miss, but when they hit we get amazing performances like The Truman Show.

His upcoming thriller, True Crimes, is based off an article from the New Yorker printed in 2008 about a Polish author who wrote a book about a murder, and was tried for a very similar murder committed four years after publishing.

Principle filming began in Poland just a few weeks ago, and we got ourselves the first set photos. Carrey is looking pretty grizzled with that beard, and is rocking a very thin slender physique. Along side Carrey, the film stars Agata Kulesza, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Aki Kaurismäki, Kati Outinen, Zbigniew Zamachowski, and Marton Csokas.

Check out the photos below!

True Crimes is set to hit theaters sometime 2016!

I need this show in my life, and I didn’t even know it until now! The first trailer for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow just hit the internet, and it has this geek hyping out HARD. I’m getting pumped for something I didn’t even know I wanted! Check it out below!

https://youtu.be/c7LlmaFg0lw

Legends of Tomorrow is poised to do for for TV what Marvel did with their movies. Create a giant expansive universe where all these amazing characters can interact with. We’ve already seen The Flash and Arrow crossing over constantly, and with Constantine making that badass appearance a few weeks ago, we know the creative teams working on these properties are going to utilize the characters fantastically.

The whole shebang starts off December 1st with an Arrow X The Flash event. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow hit’s the airwaves early 2016!

Today was Nintendo Direct day, and it started off with a bang!

Twilight Princess is coming to the Wii U next year. It will feature upgraded HD graphics, new tighter controls and will feature Amiibo support with a brand new Wolf Link/Midna Amiibo!

Originally released for Wii and Nintendo GameCube systems in 2006, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is a visually remastered remake of one of the most critically acclaimed games in The Legend of Zelda series. The new game launches on March 4 in a bundle with a detailed new amiibo figure modeled after the Wolf Link and Midna characters in the game. The game will also be compatible with five other The Legend of Zelda amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. series. The game’s iconic soundtrack will be offered as a bonus for fans who pre-order the game from select retailers.

The bit they showed in the direct makes me extremely hopeful. The graphics look tighter, and the controls will use the control pad. My biggest gripe with Twilight Princess was the crummy motion controls. I never finished the game, and lamented never picking it up on the Gamecube to actually beat. Going to hafta give it a whirl this time around.

You can snag The Legend of Zelda; Twilight Princess HD on the WiiU March 4th 2016!

2014’s well received South Korean film Snowpiercer has been optioned for a TV series.

The Hollywood Reporter has, well reported, today that Josh Friedman has been signed up to write the TV adaption for Tomorrow Studios. Marty Adelstein of Tomorrow Studios was quoted saying:

We are very excited to be working with Josh on this incredible story, as such a prolific and innovative writer he is the ideal person to create a massive new world in this adaptation. This is an expansive, high-concept project and we are thrilled to be a part of reimagining it for television.

Snowpiercer was a great success for the first attempt at an English language film for the South Korean director Bong Joon Ho, grossing almost $87 Million dollars globally. The film also marked a successful VOD release shortly after it’s theatrical release, something that future directors should take note of, the ease and pervasiveness of VOD can make your film successful.

The film centers around a post apocalyptic world that has frozen over, and the last remnants of humanity live on a train that constantly runs around the earth, staying out of the frozen climate. Each car represents a different societal class. Snowpiercer starred Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton.

The marks the second comic adaptation for Friedman. First go around was Crossbones a FOX produced pilot based off the popular Locke and Key.

No word on release dates or actors.

Holy cow! What a day so far. Activision Blizzard announces they’re starting a film and TV studio, and now this! We had the teaser for the Warcraft movie earlier this week, but now the full monty is here! Check out the trailer below.

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

I’ll be honest, I was more hyped when I saw the teaser trailer a few days ago. This makes me believe that this will just be a generic fantasy story set infront of pretty green screens. Well I’m gonna hafta wait to find out!

Warcraft hits theaters June 10 2016!

Blizzcon is popping off right now, and the first HUGE announcement out of the convention is a doozy. Not content being the forerunner for console gaming, PC gaming and now Mobile gaming, they want to move into the production of film and TV!

Activision-Blizzard Studios is going to focus on bringing the company’s countless award winning franchises to life. Ex Disney executive Nick van Dyke has been announced as the co head of the new division, along side a yet unnamed executive.

The studios first property is going to be a TV series based off the popular toys to life franchise, Skylanders. Skylanders Academy has an incredible cast attached. Justin Long, Ashley Tisdale, Jonathan Banks, Norm Macdonald, Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz.

They also have announced a Call of Duty film series, but no information past that has been released.

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick was quoted as saying:

Activision Blizzard is home to some of the most successful entertainment franchises in history, across any medium. With the launch of Activision Blizzard Studios, our engaged fans can now watch the games they love come to life across film and television. Activision Blizzard Studios is yet another way we’re celebrating our players and fans, and we expect that our film and television productions will entertain and delight whole new audiences, as well. I’m excited that Nick and his team will be leading this important new growth opportunity for Activision Blizzard.

EX Disney executive Nick van Dyke, whom was heavily involved with the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm, was quoted as saying:

Activision Blizzard Studios has the unique advantage of starting with a library of world-class intellectual property that includes some of the largest franchises which have not yet been developed in film and television. Our library spans more than 30 years of global entertainment culture and, in the last 12 months alone, fans of Activision Blizzard properties have played and watched our games online for more than 13 billion hours. This gives us a huge, passionate and deeply-engaged audience that is hungry for more great content built from the universes they already know and love-and which are extremely broad in their appeal.

Activision Blizzard Studios is not just an exciting new business for our company, it is a synergistic complement to our core business. Our movies and shows will benefit from the remarkable IP created in our games and will further increase the awareness of, engagement with and passion for our franchises.

This isn’t the first time a video game studio has branched into film. Most recently Ubisoft created Ubisoft Motion Pictures and has brought their Rabbids character to TV and are currently producing the Assassin’s Creed Movie starring Michael Fassbender.

This news is potentially something that will make Activision Blizzard and unstoppable juggernaut. With the Blizzard IP’s ALONE garnering an incredible amount of praise and desire from fans for film adaptations. Who WOULDN’T want to see a Diablo or Starcraft movie?

The guys down in Austin are absolutely killing it, this has been the year of Rooster Teeth. Hot on the heels of their merger with ScrewAttack, and Funhaus/Inside Gaming before, is the latest and greatest news for the indie team. Rooster Teeth’s claim to fame, Red Vs. Blue, is making it’s television debut this December on the El Ray Network.

This isn’t THAT big of a surprise considering the fact that Robert Rodriguez was on the RT Podcast last week, where he and Burnie Burns joked about having RvB on El Ray. It was a very wink wink nudge nudge kind of situation. NOW it’s officially official!

El Rey Network will bring the award-winning, longest running sci-fi/comedy series in history, Red vs. Blue, to television for the first time.  Premiering December 5th on El Rey Network, all 13 seasons of Rooster Teeth’s Red vs. Blue have been lovingly and carefully curated and formatted from the original digital shorts into 95 half-hour episodes, which will air weekend mornings from6:00 to 10:00am ET/PT.

“I’ve been wanting to carve out an animated component to El Rey’s lineup and this was just the perfect fit for the network. Red vs. Blue is cool, quirky, badass and a little off-beat,” said El Rey Network Founder and Chairman Robert Rodriguez.  “It’s a truly groundbreaking machinima series, with a strong focus on quality writing and pioneering motion capture techniques.  I can’t wait for the El Rey Network audience to check out.”

“As young independent filmmakers starting out with no crew but a huge desire to make original content, Robert was a huge inspiration. So it seems incredibly fitting that Red vs. Blue will now have a home on El Rey Network,” said Rooster Teeth Founder and CEO Matt Hullum. “It’s the perfect fit for our brand of action, comedy and general animated mayhem.”

Based on the award-winning Halo® video game franchise, Red vs. Blue is a hilarious and action-packed series set in the distant future that tells the story of two groups of soldiers battling for control of the least desirable piece of real estate in the known universe – a box canyon in the middle of nowhere. Premiering in 2002, Red vs. Bluecontinues to grow as both a global entertainment phenomenon and popular staple of the Halo universe as it enters its 14th season.

“Red vs. Blue embodies the irreverent humor that lurks beneath Halo’s sci-fi universe but also the creativity that is at the heart of our franchise,” said Kiki Wolfkill, Studio Head of Halo Interactive Entertainment and Channel. “Rooster Teeth is a pioneer in web entertainment and machinima with Red vs. Blue, and we consider the series to be an important part of Halo’s history and future. It combines the best of Halo gaming with Rooster Teeth’s edgy humor on a network renowned for high-quality, exciting content.”

Robert Rodriguez is really curating an amazing television network and the introduction of RvB to the channel is going to open the doors for more amazing content.>Be sure to check out the official El Ray Network website for more information and to find out how to get it in your area!

Quentin Tarantino’s eighth theatrical release is almost upon us, and the folks over at the Weinstein Company have just released the official trailer. It oozes with style, energy and an aesthetic that has me excited as hell. Check out The Hateful Eight below!

https://youtu.be/6_UI1GzaWv0

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

The Hateful Eight hit’s select theaters Christmas day, and you can catch it EVERYWHERE January 8th 2016!

Arnold Schwarzenegger has just signed on to star in upcoming revenge drama 478, from Darren Aronofsky’s studio Protozoa Pictures.

Recently announced from Deadline478 has Schwarzenegger taking up the role of a father who loses his wife and daughter in a plane crash that was caused by the negligence of an air traffic controller. Shortly after, the air traffic controller is exonerated for the accident and moved into protective custody. Not satisfied with getting of scott-free, Schwarzenegger goes for revenge on the man responsible for the accident.

The script promises to be “more sophisticated than an average revenge film, and gives Schwarzenegger a chance to show the chops he displayed on Maggie”.

It will be a nice change of pace for the Austrian actor to see him in what sounds like will be a slow methodical take on your standard revenge film. It’s always refreshing to see capable actors step outside their normal fair.

Production on 478 starts in December. So far only Arnold has signed on to star in the film. It is being written by Javier Guillon  and will be directed by Elliot Lester.

No release date has been announced.

Our friends over at CBM have just reported on a possible plot/synopsis leak for the upcoming Batman V. Superman.

Apparently Odeon Cinemas, a movie theater chain in the UK, had put up a new description for the March 2016 release. At the time of this writing Odeon has taken down the page.

At long last, see Batman and Superman square off against each other in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’, an epic superhero showdown which will change both their lives forever.

Clark Kent doesn’t trust Gotham’s mysterious masked vigilante. Bruce Wayne doesn’t trust the alien who nearly destroyed Metropolis. And Lex Luthor, who hates Superman more than anyone, is manipulating both of them for his own twisted ends.

Choose your side: the Man of Steel or the Dark Knight? Learn the answer to the age-old question – who would win? – in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’.

If this is accurate, and an official synopsis from the studio, then this sheds a whole new light on Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor.

The SDCC trailer has given us a broad idea of what the direction of the film will be like. Batman thinks Superman is a menace and needs to be stopped, but if what Odeon Cinemas has posted if official, then it makes Luthor’s involvement much more important.

Halloween may be over, and the Deadpool film isn’t out til next year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy Ryan Reynolds as the titular “merc with a mouth”.

Over the weekend, Reynolds went out and about in his Deadpool costume and took an adorable photo with some X-Men trick-or-treaters. That would be enough, but he then posted a quick little behind the scenes video that is absolutely hilarious.

This little video just solidifies Reynolds as THE perfect Deadpool. It’s obvious that when he puts on the costume, he channels his inner nutbag and runs with it. February cannot come soon enough!

And the picture this video is all about is just as awesome.

Remember, tonight we set our clocks back 34 years. #happyhalloween

Today is a good day for Harry Potter fans. After the lackluster announcement yesterday, showing off the new films logo, we’ve got something of value TODAY! The cover of Entertainment Weekly is all about the Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Check out the gallery below!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ will star Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Jenn Murray, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan and newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove. The films is set to be directed by David Yates and the film follows Newt Scamander (Redmayne), the Wizarding World’s preeminent magizoologist, who in his travels has encountered and documented a myriad of magical creatures, ultimately leading to his penning the Hogwarts School textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”

The Potter Prequel hits theaters November 18th 2016!

EA has GOT to be shaking in their boots. In an incredible move, Activision-Blizzard has just made the biggest purchase in the video game industry ever. Acquiring the studio behind such mobile giants as Candy Crush and Soda Saga, for a STAGGERING $5.9 Billion dollars. Let me put that into perspective for you. When Mojang was acquired by Microsoft, they spent $2.5 Billion. When Disney bought LucasArts they spent $4 Billion.

Announced late last night in a financial statement to investors, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick had this to say:

We continue to benefit from our focus on creating the world’s best interactive entertainment. Our incredibly talented employees around the world once again delivered great content and strong financial results. Mobile gaming is the largest and fastest-growing opportunity for interactive entertainment and we will have one of the world’s most successful mobile game companies and its talented teams providing great content to new customers, in new geographies throughout the world. King has a truly fantastic management team and over 1,600 incredibly talented employees and we are excited to welcome them into the Activision Blizzard family.

This move was obviously and attempt to solidify a larger foothold in the gaming world. With more and more companies entering the Free-To-Play/Pay-To-Win mobile markets, such as Nintendo, it’s obvious Activision wanted to get a leg up on the competition and start raking in that sweet sweet cash. Add the $5.6 billion to their current market value of $26.11 Billion, and you have a serious company on your hands. The acquisition is estimated to be complete come Spring 2016.

Their nearest competitor, EA Games, has a current market value of $22.41 Billion. You know Andrew Wilson is worried.

Horizon: Zero Dawn was first shown off way back at E3 2015. The E3 demo really threw us for a loop, as the introduction of robots in a very neanderthal aesthetic.

Guerrilla Games just showed off their press demo for the first time to the public. In the demo they show off two hunts. One where the main character, Aloy, has to track some gazelle looking robots and harvest the canisters on their back. She employs a series of traps, and scares the grazers into them. Next we are shown a huge battle with the big guy from the E3 demo, the Thunder Jaw. Hermen Hulst from Guerrilla explains the different attacks the monster has, and the thought process in how the battle went during the E3 demo.

Game looks better and better, but it makes me just yearn for a current gen console version of Monster Hunter.

No official release date has been announced besides the tentative 2016.

We all knew it was coming. There were plenty of rumors floating around about the legendary developers status at the company, but on October 9th Hideo Kojima left the studio he had worked at for almost 30 years for the last time.

In a writeup by The New Yorker, and insider at the company was in attendance at a going away ceremony for the legend. He said that the overall air of the event was “a rather cheerful but also emotional goodbye.”. He went on to mention the Konami’s President Hideki Hayakawa and it’s CEO Sadaaki Kaneyoshi were not in attendance. Not really a surprise is it?

The article goes on to talk about WHY Konami is doing what it’s doing. Nothing knew if you’re an avid gamer, but the long and the short of it is this: Mobile games are cheap to make, and micro transactions are insanely popular. With the first year of Konami’s mobile game “Dragon Collection” a boost of profits in the neighborhood of 80%! What would you do if you were Konami and you were looking at all that juicy Yen?

Kojima’s non-compete clause is up in December, and he becomes a free agent. You KNOW the entire industry will be clamoring to hire the developer.

Where would YOU like to see Kojima go? What company would utilize his abilities the most?

UPDATE

As of the writing of this piece, Kotaku published a translated article from TokyoSports (which directly quotes Gamespot)[There is a lot of fucking quoting and referencing going on with this whole deal.] that Konami official are directly refuting the statement that Kojima is done with the company.

Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid V and are taking a long time off from work. (When asked about the going away party their response was) We’re not sure what kind of thing this was.

So maybe Kojima is still sticking around with Konami? The “vacation” line can be speculated that this is just a long gradual fadeout, as the company has a habit of taking employees and redeploying them at other posts, such as janitors or assembly line workers.

Guess we’ll know for sure in November if Kojima is working over at Nintendo.

UPDATE

This picture recently surfaced from Twitter. Looks like a going away party to me!

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years (OR aren’t really a gamer), let me tell you about one of the greatest charities around. Let me tell you about Extra Life.

Starting way back in 2008, The Sarcastic Gamer and its fans wanted to raise money for a local children’s hospital that a young girl named Victoria Enmon had been visiting for treatment of her acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The fans wanted to raise money in her memory and try to help out other ill children, so they came up with the idea of doing what gamers do best. Play games! So they all banded together, and had a 24-Hour gaming marathon. That year they raised $302,000 all of which went to the local hospital. The following year, participants in the first event wanted to find out a way that they could donate to their own local children’s hospitals so the Extra Life organization joined forces with The Childrens Miracle Network and the national Extra Life event was born!

Fast forward to 2014 and the 907Gamers, which was at the time a Facebook group with about 3,500 members. We joined in on the charity and started what would become our first gaming marathon. The first year, we set what was thought to be a lofty goal of $2,000. About 85 gamers all crammed into a warehouse and played games for a solid 24 hours. When things were all said and done, 907Gamers raised an amazing $11,518! All proceeds benefited the Providence Children’s Hospital in Anchorage.

This year they wanted to make the same goal, so they set it for $12,000. As of the writing of this article, they’ve already raised a staggering $39,754!

Now the national Extra Life event is Saturday, November 7th, beginning at 8 a.m. but due to scheduling, the 907Gamers are having theirs tomorrow! That’s right, Friday October 16th starting at 8 p.m.!

How you can get involved.

If you want to help out the 907Gamers you can donate to them directly HERE.

If you want to donate on my behalf, you can check out my Extra Life profile HERE. Now I won’t be gaming for the entire 24 hours, but if you catch our live stream you might see me up on the stage DJing!

Don’t want to help out the Alaskan Children? Want your donations to go more locally? Check out the official Extra Life page and find a local event or team in your area!

This is an amazing cause, and it’s stunning how generous how gamers can be. If you can’t donate, join a team and ask your friends and family to donate on your behalf!

It’s always great seeing video game companies taking their vision of an interactive narrative, and translating it to the “real world”. We’ve seen Bungie do it countless times and knock it out of the park. Now we can add Bethesda to that list. Check out The Wanderer for Fallout 4.

Granted it’s not 100% live action, but what is anymore these days? If you ain’t pumped full of silicon and CG then you ain’t getting attention!

Fallout 4 hits store shelves November 10th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Looks like Fox is interested in getting some of the MCU cash, as just TODAY they’ve announced they are working on two live action adaptions from the X-Men universe.

First up on FX is Legion. Featuring David Haller (Legion), Charles Xavier’s estranged son. Legion first appeared in the late 80’s and was a direct cause of the “Age of Apocalypse” storyline. The show features Noah Hawley (Fargo) as the shows producer. The official blurb from Fox is:

Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Legion sounds like something right up my alley. Shows that mess with the viewer as much as they mess with the characters in it.

From FOX itself we’re getting HellfireBased off the events from the Hellfire Club, introduced in the early 80’s, the show is said to take place in the late 60’s and will feature a “young special agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires — known as ‘The Hellfire Club’ — to take over the world.”. It will be interesting to see how this particular show ties in with the X-Men films narrative.

Both shows have Bryan Singer and Jeph Loeb attached as producers.

No word on when principle filming begins or projected air dates, but you KNOW we’ll be sure to let you know.

Holy crap guys. This game NEEDS to get funded. The team over at Gun Media have secured the rights to Friday The 13th and are turning it into an asymmetrical multiplayer game!

Initially designed as an original slasher concept, Gun Media were able to snag the rights to Friday The 13th from it’s creator Sean S. Cunningham. They are turning their brilliant idea into the first Friday The 13th game since the legendarily hard NES title. Check out the trailer, and Kickstarter pitch videos below.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer title where one player controls Jason Voorhees while the remaining seven control camp counselors trying to survive the night. That’s right…1v7 multiplayer set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake! It’s a classic horror fan’s dream, no shaky cam, no found footage. We want you to know we’re revitalizing the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment.

Friday the 13th is the definition of horror to the millions of fans around the world. A masked killer going after the young and vulnerable; it grabs our attention, it frightens us, and yet we all come back for more. Friday the 13th: The Game will give you the feeling of horror and dread that you expect from Jason Voorhees. This will be the ultimate asymmetrical horror experience unlike anything you’ve seen – a title we’re proud to introduce that is worthy of the name ‘Friday the 13th’.

This looks freaking incredible, and I am pretty sure that Gun Media is going to knock it out of the park. They’ve assembled a team that consists of the films creator, Sean S. Cunningham, Tom Savini and Kane Hodder (the most recent actor to don the Hockey Mask of horror).

They’ve already raised just over $177k of their $700k goals. For more information be sure to head over and check out their Kickstarter to check out their Pre-Alpha screenshots!

Principle filming is underway on the Assassin’s Creed movie, we are starting to get some photos from the set! Two images of a cold and ominous Abstergo facility. Photos compliments of Azaïzia Aymar, head of AC content at Ubisoft Montreal.

These photos instill hope in me! The Assassin’s Creed games are one of my favorite franchises, despite the travesty that was Unity. Seeing the set is making me excited! These set photos are hot on the heels of the films star, Michael Fassbender, in his Assassin costume

If done right, the Assassin’s Creed movie can probably be one of the best video game adaptations yet. The story, gameplay and concept are so cinematic already, that translating them to the big screen is an easy feat.

The Assassin’s Creed movie is set to hit theaters December 21st 2016 and is starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons.

File this under “Odd Decisions”. EA has just confirmed on their Twitter that Star Wars Battlefront will NOT feature in game VOIP.

They go on to say that the only way you will have voice chat on consoles is if you use the built in party system on either the PS4 or Xbox One.

In previous “Battle” titles (BF4 and Hardline) there was in game VOIP on the PC versions of the games, though in all my hours of playing Battlefield 4 I only used squad chat ONCE. That’s not to say that it was an unused feature by some, but if it is something that DICE and EA saw little usage of, then cutting it from the features list makes sense.

What doesn’t make sense is the lack of inclusion on consoles. You have to have a premade party to be able to chat, which this particular geek thinks is absurd. Games like GTA Online and Metal Gear Online have built in team chat, so it not being added to Battlefront seems odd.

Battlefront, unlike other DICE titles, does not feature a squad function. Where multiple players join a five man group, where a squad leader can designate objectives as targets and is a mobile spawn point. They do have an option to have a “partner” but it is a max of two players, so if you run with two other buddies then someone is getting left out.

Is the lack of VOIP dissuading anyone from getting the game? Let us know!

Well Guardians, it’s finally here. Microtransactions have hit the Tower and Bungie is starting to count the dollars.

It was recently announced that Tess would be returning to the Tower and would be bringing with her access to the Everest Trading Company. What would this new company be offering? EMOTES OF COURSE!

The emotes can be purchased for Silver, a new ingame currency that can be obtained by giving Bungie some of your hard earned dollars. Here is the current pricing structure for Silver.

500 Silver – $5

1,100 Silver – $10

2,300 Silver – $20

Each player is given 400 Silver gratis right now, so you can get your hands on some of the emotes right away. The standard emotes are 200 Silver each but the two Legendary Emotes at 500 Silver. You’ll want to pony up for that extra hundo of Silver, because you can get your hands on The Carlton dance from Fresh Prince! Check out the video below for all the emotes.

If you’re an intrepid collector, you’ll have to fork over $38 to net yourself 4,200 Silver to get them all.

What do you think? Are these worth the price?

The community behind trying to find proof that Half-Life 3 is actually coming out is an odd one. They will wade through emails, press releases, corporate photos, employee manuals, and as it turns out patches for Dota 2.

An intrepid, or utterly insane, group dedicated to piecing together the Half-Life 3 mystery. In the most recent update to Dota 2, it appears that valve added a very interesting text file. Labeled “HL3.txt” it mentions your basic stuff, characters reaction to damage, elements spawn rates, and basically all the crap you’d expect to see in a patch for a MOBA. BUT, and it’s time to don your tinfoil hat, there is THIS juicy nugget of info.

string m_Id = “Element.npc_turret_ceiling_pulse” string m_FriendlyName = “npc_turret_ceiling_pulse” string m_TooltipOverride = “” string m_HelpText = “Combine Pulse Ceiling Turret”

Did you see that? “Combine Pulse Ceiling Turret”! HALF-LIFE 3 CONFIRMED! Yeah, no.

Basically this means nothing, but the HL3 truthers are desperately clinging to anything in hopes that their beloved game is still coming out. This is most likely just references to a game type in Dota 2, or a Half-Life themed map.

Our second cousins over at FunHaus pretty much blew a hole in any of the theories that existed on the much sought after game, when a Valve insider dished on the status of the game.

We won’t know for sure until the patch for Dota 2 goes live, but we can pretty much guarantee that Half-Life 3 ain’t coming out any time soon.
