The guys down in Austin are absolutely killing it, this has been the year of Rooster Teeth. Hot on the heels of their merger with ScrewAttack, and Funhaus/Inside Gaming before, is the latest and greatest news for the indie team. Rooster Teeth’s claim to fame, Red Vs. Blue, is making it’s television debut this December on the El Ray Network.

This isn’t THAT big of a surprise considering the fact that Robert Rodriguez was on the RT Podcast last week, where he and Burnie Burns joked about having RvB on El Ray. It was a very wink wink nudge nudge kind of situation. NOW it’s officially official!

El Rey Network will bring the award-winning, longest running sci-fi/comedy series in history, Red vs. Blue, to television for the first time.  Premiering December 5th on El Rey Network, all 13 seasons of Rooster Teeth’s Red vs. Blue have been lovingly and carefully curated and formatted from the original digital shorts into 95 half-hour episodes, which will air weekend mornings from6:00 to 10:00am ET/PT.

“I’ve been wanting to carve out an animated component to El Rey’s lineup and this was just the perfect fit for the network. Red vs. Blue is cool, quirky, badass and a little off-beat,” said El Rey Network Founder and Chairman Robert Rodriguez.  “It’s a truly groundbreaking machinima series, with a strong focus on quality writing and pioneering motion capture techniques.  I can’t wait for the El Rey Network audience to check out.”

“As young independent filmmakers starting out with no crew but a huge desire to make original content, Robert was a huge inspiration. So it seems incredibly fitting that Red vs. Blue will now have a home on El Rey Network,” said Rooster Teeth Founder and CEO Matt Hullum. “It’s the perfect fit for our brand of action, comedy and general animated mayhem.”

Based on the award-winning Halo® video game franchise, Red vs. Blue is a hilarious and action-packed series set in the distant future that tells the story of two groups of soldiers battling for control of the least desirable piece of real estate in the known universe – a box canyon in the middle of nowhere. Premiering in 2002, Red vs. Bluecontinues to grow as both a global entertainment phenomenon and popular staple of the Halo universe as it enters its 14th season.

“Red vs. Blue embodies the irreverent humor that lurks beneath Halo’s sci-fi universe but also the creativity that is at the heart of our franchise,” said Kiki Wolfkill, Studio Head of Halo Interactive Entertainment and Channel. “Rooster Teeth is a pioneer in web entertainment and machinima with Red vs. Blue, and we consider the series to be an important part of Halo’s history and future. It combines the best of Halo gaming with Rooster Teeth’s edgy humor on a network renowned for high-quality, exciting content.”

Robert Rodriguez is really curating an amazing television network and the introduction of RvB to the channel is going to open the doors for more amazing content.>Be sure to check out the official El Ray Network website for more information and to find out how to get it in your area!

Rooster Teeth Productions (creators of Red Vs. Blue) today released a new trailer for their upcoming animated series, RWBY (pronounced ruby).

I’d never heard of the series so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but this preview for RWBY absolutely blew me away. Unfortunately, the series premiere is five months from now; RWBY will officially premiere at this year’s Rooster Teeth Expo in July.

Watch the new trailer below, and get excited; RWBY looks to be something special.

RWBY brings four very different girls together for one legendary purpose. These four fighters will come face-to-face with menacing creatures, devious villains, and an incredible cast of characters.

It was in April 2003 when we first got a dose of Rooster Teeth’s Red vs. Blue. It’s hard to believe it’s been so long and it’s been an amazing run so far. Red vs. Blue X helps commemorate the awesomeness that is Red vs. Blue in this 14-disc set that packs over 18 hours of footage and remastered 5.1 surround sound. Just take a look at it for yourself!

I’ll reserve any comments I have about the actual episodes and story of the Red vs. Blue saga, mainly because we all know how awesome it is already, and instead will focus on the presentation and packaging of the set. Firstly, the packaging:

The box folds out twice revealing the majority of the discs. The others are located on the other side of the second fold. Each disc is securely in place and owners won’t have to worry about any disc slipping out and developing scratches over time.

If you haven’t seen a Red vs Blue Menu yet, know that they are just as humorous as the show itself.  The 14-Disc DVD Pack is amazing, and Blu-Ray makes it that much better. Special features include a collectible booklet, miniseries, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage that totals an additional eight hours to runtime. Rooster Teeth couldn’t have picked a better time to release this box set. I can see it now: Thanksgiving hangover accompanied by a flashback to start of the Blood Gulch Chronicles. Bliss.

If you’re thinking about buying this set and are a fan of Red vs. Blue and Halo, you should make the purchase. Even if you were once a fan and fell off the wagon, use this opportunity to catch up, because honestly, there’s no better way to watch these episodes than on your HDTV. And if you don’t have an HDTV, the Holiday Season is upon us and it’s 2012.

Red vs Blue X – Blu-Ray

Nearly ten years old now, The Red vs. Blue online web series has captivated Halo and machinima fans alike. What started in Halo: Combat Evolved using in-game mechanics is now on its way to Halo 4. To celebrate everything in between, Rooster Teeth is releasing The Best Red vs. Blue DVD Ever. Of All Time. Rooster Teeth showcases the best of the franchise for a comical and entertaining walk down memory lane with the help of fans, completed with an In Memoriam sequence.

Rooster Teeth adopts an award show set up to present the winners of each category, as voted by fans. After a short red carpet intro, Rooster Teeth treats us with categories like Biggest Asshole, Best Fight Scene, Best Visual Effects and my favorite, Worst Visual Effects.

Each winner’s segment is presented in full and is introduced by characters from the RvB universe. Even if you have done something so dastardly as to miss out on RvB episodes, or seasons, rest assured you won’t be lost. Better yet, The Best Red vs. Blue DVD Ever. Of All Time. is a great primer for the upcoming RVBX (Ten Years of RvB Box Set), releasing November 6, 2012.

Aside from the actual run time content, the DVD menus will be appreciated by fans. I admit, as soon as the DVD booted up, I embarked on an easter egg hunt. I wasn’t disappointed.

It’s clear The Best Red vs. Blue DVD Ever. Of All Time. was made for the fans, and at a $5 price tag, it’s an easy buy.

Earlier today I received the following press release about the just announced 10th Season of Rooster Teeth’s beloved Red VS Blue. The new season features voice acting from Elijah Wood and will be the conclusion to the Project Freelancer storyline that’s been running through the series recently. Here’s the announcement trailer, followed by the original press release!

Rooster Teeth Productions is thrilled to announce their award-winning web series, Red vs. Blue, will return for its 10th season, featuring the voice of Elijah Wood (Lord Of The Rings Trilogy).  The season will premiere exclusively on the Rooster Teeth website on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th.   Following the premiere of each episode they will be added to the Rooster Teeth YouTube page, which recently passed the 1 billion views mark!

Co-directed by Burnie Burns and Matt Hullum, Red vs. Blue humorously chronicles a civil war being waged by two equally hapless armies.  The Red Team and the Blue Team are fighting a battle that they know very little about and have no clue how to win.  This truly original narrative is told using machinima from the Xbox® game Halo® and stunning CGI animation.  The result of this innovative combination is the hilarious story of a non-committal struggle to control the least desirable place in the universe.

The 10th season of Red vs. Blue will bring the conclusion of the Project Freelancer story line and welcome new members of the team.  Elijah Wood (Lord Of The Rings Trilogy) joins the cast of Red vs. Blue this season as the voice of the artificial intelligence program, “Sigma.”

“After meeting the folks at Rooster Teeth a couple years ago, I was pleased to be asked to provide a voice for Red vs Blue. The character of Sigma, shifty and deceptive, was fun to bring to life,” said Elijah Wood (Lord Of The Rings Trilogy).

New episodes of Red vs. Blue season 10 will premiere exclusively on RoosterTeeth.com each Monday.  Older episodes will be available on the Rooster Teeth YouTube Channel.  Red vs. Blue is also available for purchase or rental on iTunes and the Xbox Zune marketplace and will be available on Hulu this summer.  DVDs are available at Best Buy and other major retailers. Special mini-series are released on the Xbox Halo Waypoint Channel.

The Rooster Teeth YouTube Channel, which has over 1.7 Million subscribers, is home to Red vs. Blue episodes along with several other Rooster Teeth series.  These include RT Animated Adventures, which follows the shenanigans of the Rooster Teeth staff in animation, Fails of the Weak, a weekly compilation of the best in video game mishaps, and a wide variety of live-action comedy videos, behind-the-scenes clips, and video game tutorials.  As of April 16th the YouTube channel reached, and surpassed, 1 billion total views.

“Hitting one billion views was a confusing moment for us. We had heard the number ‘one billion’ before in conversation, but we didn’t think it actually existed. As everyone knows, the highest number ever recorded by modern scientists is four million. We here at Rooster Teeth are proud to have shattered that record. We look forward to many years of driving the twin industries of online video and number science,” said Rooster Teeth Founder Burnie Burns.
