Briefly: It’s nearly here!

Duncan Jones highly anticipated Warcraft is just over two weeks away from theatres, and Legendary has just debuted a new featurette which digs into the film’s incredible production design.

The featurette shows off the importance of melding visual effects with real locations, and while we don’t know just how good Warcraft will be at this point, it’d be pretty tough to say that the film isn’t gorgeous.

In Warcraft, the peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

Briefly: We’re now less than two months away from the heavily anticipated release of Duncan Jones’ Warcraft, and today at PAX East the celebrated director debuted a bad-ass new poster for the film.

It’s a gorgeous image featuring the female Orc Draka, and she definitely doesn’t look like someone you’d want to mess with!

It’s a gorgeous image that showcases the Orc vs. Human struggle, and based on all of the footage that we’ve seen so far, there are set to be some mighty battles ahead for these two armies.

Briefly: We’re still a couple of seasons away from Legendary’s beyond anticipated Warcraft adaptation to finally hit the big screen, and today the film’s first TV spot has hit the web, showing off some more incredible effects, as well as making us remember that director Duncan Jones is likely having a really tough time right now (sorry, Duncan).

In any case, it’s a great spot, that showcases a little more of what our humans and Orcs are set to endure during the feature. In the film, the peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. Holy cow! What a day so far. Activision Blizzard announces they’re starting a film and TV studio, and now this! We had the teaser for the Warcraft movie earlier this week, but now the full monty is here! Check out the trailer below.

I’ll be honest, I was more hyped when I saw the teaser trailer a few days ago. This makes me believe that this will just be a generic fantasy story set infront of pretty green screens. Well I’m gonna hafta wait to find out!

Warcraft hits theaters June 10 2016!

Video game film adaptations have been, at least in the last ten years, have been met with trepidation. Gamer’s have a somewhat awkward stance to take. One one hand we want to see our favorite properties adapted into another medium, and on the other hand we don’t want Uwe Boll (full disclosure, I love Uwe Boll but the comedic balance needs to be met in my posts). Ever since the Warcraft film was announced way back in 2006, and filming didn’t even start til 2014, the community has been flip flopping on excitement.

One of the biggest worries was how dependent on after effects the film would rely on. Well today we got ourselves a little tease of what one of the main characters, Orgrim Doomhammer, will look like in the upcoming epic, and this geek is frankly excited for the CG Orc!

Orgrim Doomhammer is going to be played by Robert Kazinsky (I had to look him up too, Pacific Rim apparently). Director Duncan Jones was quoted in a Wired Magazine interview saying:

We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character.

The Warcraft movie is set to hit theaters (pending anymore push backs) June 10th 2016!

Last week we had the sad news that Warcraft, the World of Warcraft movie, was pushed from a December 2015 release to a ‘sometime in 2016’ release (probably to avoid going up directly against Star Wars), but  today Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment gave us all something to celebrate. Or at least, gossip wildly over.

That’s right, some of the cast for Warcraft has been announced (note, there’s no character designation as of yet, so we know who’s in the movie but not who they’re playing) and they are (drum roll): Ben Foster (The Messenger, 3:10 to Yuma, X-Men: The Last Stand), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Precious), Toby Kebbell (Wrath of Titans, War Horse), and Rob Kazinsky (True Blood, Pacific Rim). Dominic Cooper (Captain America, An Education) is expected to finalize his deal with Legendary soon.

Details on the movie have been scarce, but we do know that production is slated to start early next year, and the movie will have two iconic characters from Warcraft lore: Lothar and Durotan. Which means the movie (or some parts of it, at any rate) will take place a generation prior to the events in World of Warcraft and, nicely, tie in to the WoW expansion set to come out next year, Warlords of Draenor.
