Briefly: I’m about to go get in line for possibly one of the most anticipated video games of all time (GTAV… duh), and I simply had to share this awesome new trailer for an anticipated mobile game before I left.

The beautiful-looking Infinity Blade III is just a few days away from release, and the fine folks over at GameTrailers have debuted an exclusive new trailer/interview for the title. It features interviews with the game’s developers at Chair, and shows off some cool new features that we didn’t see in the announcement trailer.

I’m beyond excited for Infinity Blade III… it might just make next week’s conference calls somewhat bearable. I’m still disappointed about the cancellation of Infinity Blade: Dungeons, but we’ll see if this one can begin to make up for it. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game!

Briefly: I dropped out of the Fast & Furious series years ago, but as we all learned when Fast & Furious 6 hit theatres this Summer, the series is more popular than ever.

Now that both Paul Walker and Vin Diesel have returned as series regulars, fans have wondered if the Tokyo Drifter, Lucas Black, would be returning as well. Deadline learned today that Lucas is indeed set to return to the franchise, and for more than one film too. Along with the anticipated Fast 7, which is set to hit theatres next July, he’ll appear in at least two further instalments.

That’s a lot of Fast & Furious.

Are you happy to see the actor return? Or do you wish that Sean Boswell would just stay in Japan? Sound out below!

Briefly: The ever growing group of survivors in AMC’s The Walking Dead is about to add one more.

The network announced today that Twilight star Christian Serratos will join the series as Rosita Espinosa. Rosita has been a prominent character in the Image comic series for a number of years now, making her first appearance in issue 53 along with Abraham Ford and Dr. Eugene Porter.

It’s not know whether or not her companions will also be added to the series, but at this point a casting announcement has not been made. Christian will guest star in multiple episodes this year, and has been optioned to become a series regular for the inevitable fifth season of The Walking Dead.

With less than a month to go until The Walking Dead premieres, are you looking forward to the Scott Gimple led fourth season? Are you happy with the casting of Rosita, or is there another actress you’d rather have seen in the role? Sound out below!

Briefly: Following the new trailer released earlier this month, The CW today debuted four new character posters for the upcoming season premiere of Arrow.

In pretty typical Arrow fashion, each and every one of the new posters (featuring Stephen Amell, Colton Haynes, David Ramsey, and Manu Bennett) spotlights one of Starling City’s most beautiful men, completely naked from the waist up.

Take a look at the new posters below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Arrow‘s return. Season two premieres on October 9th!

While you’re at it, how do you feeling about the show’s just-cast Barry Allen?

Briefly: Zero Charisma has to be my most anticipated film for the remainder of 2013, and this trailer is absolutely wonderful.

Following the poster release earlier this week, Nerdist today debuted a phenomenal new trailer for the comedy. Zero Charisma premiered at this year’s SXSW, and has been garnering universal acclaim ever since. Our very own Jonathan London even said that “Zero Charisma is one of the best Geek culture films of all time.” Yep, it’s that good (check out his full review here).

Sadly, I still haven’t had an opportunity to see the film. That’s all set to change next month however, as Zero Charisma is scheduled to hit VOD and iTunes on October 8th, before beginning its theatrical run on October 11th. I can’t freaking wait.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know just how much you want to see the film!

As the strict Game Master of a fantasy role-playing game, Scott (Sam Eidson) leads his friends in a weekly quest through mysterious lands from the safety of his grandmother’s kitchen. But his mastery of his own domain starts to slip—along with everything else in his life—when neo-nerd hipster Miles (Garrett Graham) joins the game, winning over the group with his confident charm and dethroning Scott with an unexpected coup. Caught in delusions of grandeur, Scott must roll the dice and risk everything to expose Miles as the fraud he believes him to be. A darkly comedic fable of epic proportions, Zero Charisma is an ode to nerds from every realm.

Briefly: Mega Ran rocks… seriously

The prominent nerdcore rapper headlined our fantastic Comic-Con Nerd-A-Thon concert back in July (after telling us all about his favourite retro video games), and now he’s back with a new track all about Alan Moore’s acclaimed (and controversial) Batman: The Killing Joke. The song overlays audio from the Batman NES game, and it’s freaking awesome.

Ran is currently on tour with Homeboy Sandman and Open Mike Eagle, and has a few dates left around the US (Atlanta, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Orlando, FL, Charlotte, NC). If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend that you head to one of these shows.

Take a look at One Bad Day below, and let us know what you think! Ran’s next album, ‘Forever Famicom DLC 3’ releases this November!

Briefly: Preceding a brand new trailer that’s set to be released on Monday, Nerdist today debuted a phenomenal new poster for Zero Charisma.

Zero Charisma premiered at this year’s SXSW, and has been garnering universal acclaim ever since. Our very own Jonathan London even said that “Zero Charisma is one of the best Geek culture films of all time.” Yep, it’s that good (check out his full review here).

For now, take a look at the new poster below. We’ll be sure to share the new trailer when it’s released on Monday, and be sure to watch for more Zero Charisma in the coming weeks!

Briefly: Another day, another piece of marketing for next month’s premiere of American Horror Story: Coven.

It’s a good thing it’s great marketing, otherwise we’d all be very sick of it by now. FX today debuted two creepy new posters for the series, each depicting some sort of shadowy, human robaxacet dolls. Actually, they’re probably teasing the fact that voodoo will have a place in the series, but really, who knows at this point!

Take a look at each of the images below, and  be sure to read the plot synopsis for the first episode if you haven’t already. American Horror Story: Coven premieres on October 9th!

Briefly: Carrie is barely a month away from theatres at this point, and it’s looking better and better with each new trailer, clip, and still released.

MGM today debuted a brand new behind-the-scenes look at the film, which looks to contain a few pieces of new footage, as well as a myriad of interviews with the film’s cast and crew.

The featurette is certainly a great look into the anticipated movie, and from what I’ve seen so far, Chloe Moretz should play a fantastic Carrie. Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! Carrie hits theatres on October 18th!

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Briefly: The anticipated fourth season of The Walking Dead premieres in just a few weeks, and AMC today debuted a great new extended preview for the show.

Featuring both new footage and behind-the-scenes interviews, the new preview answers some of the burning questions fans have about season four… and introduces even more.

Take a look at the new (sadly low resolution) trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the new season! While you’re at it, let us know what you thought of the season three finale!

Briefly: Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is just over a month away from release, and I couldn’t be more excited. Sure, I miss the sprawling cityscapes and parkour of the first few games in the series, but I’m really looking forward to taking to the high seas, and further learning the history of Desmond’s ancestors.

A very talented filmmaker by the name of Joe Miale has just released a fantastic Assassin’s Creed IV fan film called Assassin’s Creed: Checkmate. The video (of course) takes place in the 1700’s Caribbean as Edward Kenway stumbles upon a robbery in progress and has only a split second to make his killer move.

The short should do a great job at further exciting fans for the game, and also gives us a great look at Miale’s production chops. Miale will be back on Machinima in just a few weeks to debut another short based on the Half-Life series.

Take a look at Assassin’s Creed: Checkmate below, and let us know what you think! Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag hits stores on October 29th!

Briefly: We’ve know for some time now that their would be a second season of the acclaimed Mortal Kombat: Legacy, and now we know just when we’ll be able to watch it!

The entire second season of the popular series will debut in just a few weeks, on September 26th. As always, you’ll be able to watch every episode on Machinima’s YouTube channel.

According to the press release, “The first season of “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” was one of 2011’s most-viewed web series and has generated more than 70 million views to date on Machinima. In the highly anticipated second season, the saga continues as Liu Kang and Ermac join the ranks of fighters introduced in the series’ first season, including Kenshi, Kung Lao, Kuai Lang, Stryker, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, Scortcheson and Sub- Zero. This new season uncovers the rivalries and histories of these fierce warriors as Raiden and his recruits clash against the dark forces of Outworld. Chronicling the tournament and the interweaving storylines of the most beloved Kombatants, ngorians also will learn of the complex relationship between Liu Kang and Kung Lao and revisit the complicated family dynamic of Kitana and Mileena. The epic battle for EarthRealm has finally begun!”

Take a look at a brand new trailer for Mortal Kombat: Legacy II below, and let us know if you’re excited! If you (somehow) missed the first season, I implore you to head here and watch it!

Briefly: Following the impressive first trailer released last weeek, Columbia Pictures has just debuted a slick new poster for José Padilha’s Robocop remake.

It’s the same black suit that we saw in the trailer, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look gorgeously contrasted on that white background. Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think!

I wasn’t really expecting too much from this remake, but seeing the first trailer definitely raises my hope for the picture. I didn’t think a new Robocop could be cool (it is 2013, after all), but Joel Kinnaman looks bad-ass in the role. Then again, the new Total Recall looked pretty fantastic too… and we all know how that one turned out (bad).

Robocop_13790169807000

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Briefly: It’s been rumoured for some time, but now it’s official: J.J. Abrams will not direct the third instalment in the new Star Trek series.

During a Collider interview promoting the Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-Ray release, Abrams let the news drop:

It’s a little bittersweet.  But, I will say that I’m going to be producing the movie.  Whomever it is that directs the film will be someone we all know is going to keep the cast and crew in good hands.  I feel very lucky to have been part of it, and it definitely feels like the right time to let someone come in and do their own thing.  I certainly don’t want someone to come in and try to do what I would have done.  We want to hire someone who’s gonna come in and bring their own sensibility.  I’m very excited to see what comes next, despite feeling jealous of whomever that person is.

So that’s that. I’m sure that some of you will be severely disappointed about the news, while others will be absolutely over the moon (I’m definitely in the former camp). In any case, now that Abrams is out of the picture, who would you like to see step into the director’s chair? On that note, how did you feel about Star Trek Into Darkness?

2013 Winter TCA Tour - Day 3

Briefly: Now that the Summer movie season is officially over, it’s pretty safe to say that Pacific Rim was one of my most enjoyable moviegoing experiences all year. It may not have broken the box office records that it could have, and it may never get a sequel since apparently nobody saw it, but Pacific Rim was a hell of a lot of fun.

Of course, the film also had some of the best visual effects that I’ve ever seen. I still recall my first time viewing the movie, and at multiple points throughout thinking “how the hell did they make this?” It’s that incredible.

Mirada Studios was in charge of creating the film’s two-minute prologue, and they’ve released a cool new video demonstrating some jarring before and after shots. It’s a fantastic watch for fans of the film or visual effects in general, and I simply had to share! Take a look at the video below, and be sure to let us know what you thought of Pacific Rim!

Briefly: Doesn’t Thor: The Dark World look awesome? Honestly, I can’t wait for the thing, especially after the massive (understatement) disappointment that was Iron Man 3. Seriously, a silly buddy cop film has no place in a post-Avengers world.

Thor: The Dark World looks exactly like what Iron Man 3 should have been. It’s serious, people are scared, their planet was nearly destroyed, and everyone now knows that aliens exist. I’m hopeful that this could be the Phase Two film that we all were hoping for the first time around.

Marvel today debuted two new character posters for the film. The first spotlights a powerful looking Odin, while the second focusses in on Loki, while his shattered prison is displayed in the background.

Take a look at the posters below, and let us know what you think! Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on November 8th!

Thor2

Thor1

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Briefly: Breaking Bad is officially getting a spinoff.

With just three incredible weeks to go until Breaking Bad‘s highly anticipated series finale, AMC and Sony Pictures Television have officially announced a Saul Goodman centric spinoff, Better Call Saul.

Bob Odenkirk will (thankfully) reprise his beloved role in the new series, which will serve as a prequel to Breaking Bad. Peter Gould will act as showrunner on the project, while Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan will also have a creative role.

No further information on the series has been revealed, but we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on Better Call Saul as we learn more! With just three more weeks until Breaking Bad ends, what are your hopes for the series finale? Sound out below!

Briefly: Following the cool ‘Initiation’ promo released just yesterday, FX has revealed the plot synopsis for American Horror Story: Coven‘s debut episode, Bitchcraft.

Unsurprisingly, Coven sounds intriguing as hell! The season premieres on October 9th, and should be an absolute blast. Take a gander at the synopsis below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to it!

A young girl, Zoe, is shattered to discover she possesses a strange genetic affliction tracing back to the dark days of Salem. Zoe is whisked away to Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, a mysterious school in New Orleans devoted to safeguarding the few remaining descendants who share this unique bloodline. Harboring a secret agenda, Fiona Goode, the most powerful witch of their generation, returns to town, reigniting old rivalries with the Coven’s deadly enemies, the Voodoo.

Briefly: The Killing fans (which I definitely am one of), you had to have seen this one coming.

AMC has announced their decision not to renew acclaimed crime drama The Killing for a fourth season. This, of course, is the second time that the series has been cancelled, the first time being after a steady ratings fall during the show’s second season.

The network states that “Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of all three seasons of The Killing. We’re especially gratified to have orchestrated a unique deal with AMC for season three that included a bold partnership with Netflix. While we would have loved to produce a fourth season for AMC, FTVS is immensely grateful to everyone involved with this moving series: our brilliant cast, led by Mireille Enos, Joel Kinnaman and season three’s Peter Sarsgaard, our stellar executive producer, Veena Sud, a remarkable writing and producing team, and a tireless, dedicated crew. Most of all, FTVS thanks the terrific fans of The Killing, who communicated their appreciation for the show throughout its run.”

It’s sad news for sure, especially after watching the fantastic almost-didn’t-happen third season. At least the show was resurrected once though, right?

Did you enjoy the series? Sound out below!

Briefly: I certainly wasn’t expecting this announcement today.

Back in May, Universal announced that the long awaited Jurassic Park IV had been put on hold. Today, the film’s new release date was revealed, and it comes equipped with a new title too.

Jurassic World is the name, and it’s set to hit theatres in 3D on June 12th, 2015.

No other information about the project was revealed, but we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we learn more. What are your thoughts on the new title? What do you hope to see in the film?

Briefly: During today’s iPhone announcementInfinity Blade developer Chair took to the stage and revealed the next title in the mega-popular mobile franchise.

Unsurprisingly, it’s titled Infinity Blade III, and unsurprisingly, it looks absolutely gorgeous, especially running on that new Apple hardware. The game is set to hit the App Store on September 18th for a more-than-reasonable $6.99. Infinity Blade III will be compatible with the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini, iPod touch 5, and iPod touch 4.

I can’t wait to pick the game up, even though I’m still a little bit angry about the cancellation of Infinity Blade: Dungeons earlier this year. Take a look at the trailer for Infinity Blade III, and let us know just how excited you are!

Briefly: It’s Christmas in September for Apple fans (though everyone peeked and saw their presents early due to the ever-flowing stream of leaks).

The revered tech company today announced their yearly smartphone, and it’s pretty much everything that we imagined it would be. The iPhone 5S is faster (like, a lot faster) than last year’s iPhone 5, boasting an impressive 64-bit (which really doesn’t mean a lot now, but will definitely come into play in the future) A7 chip, a much improved, gorgeous-looking camera system, a unique fingerprint-unlocking feature (that looks much better implemented than anything we’ve seen before), and much more. The unit also added a third colour option to the mix, with a fancy gold/white combination. It looks just as sleek and sexy as last year’s iPhone 5 (which is arguably still the best looking smartphone on the market), and will be available for pre-order on September 13th for a September 20th launch. Take a look at the iPhone 5S product video (in low-res for now) below.

http://youtu.be/wGCetsl-srk

Here’s a video detail the features of the new camera:

Instead of simply make last year’s model a cheaper option, Apple has instead put the insides into some funky, colorful new casing that should be a huge hit with the younger crowds. It’s called the iPhone 5C, and is available in a variety of different, plastic colors that are said to still feel excellent. Take a look at the 5C product video below.

http://youtu.be/gyarolYre3M

Now, let’s try to avoid a flame-war. Everyone has different preferences and opinions when it comes to mobile devices, tech companies, and game consoles, and you know what, that’s totally cool.

I’m a fan, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the iPhone 5S.

Briefly: The premiere of American Horror Story: Coven is fast approaching, and FX has just debuted a new teaser for the anticipated series.

Today’s preview offers our first official look at much of Coven‘s celebrated (and returning) cast in their new roles. It’s another well produced, creepy teaser that does a great job at garnering excitement for the upcoming season.

Take a look at the new teaser below, and let us know what you think! American Horror Story: Coven premieres on October 9th!

Briefly: Just one day after Sony announced a new, slimmer Playstation Vita, the console has lost one of its most praised exclusives.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation is coming to consoles (and PC). This release, of course, will come without the consistent technical issues and low resolution of the original portable version. The game will feature 15 new missions, and a welcome lack of crappy touchscreen controls.

Also announced was Assassin’s Creed Pirates, a new, mobile only title that lets players “explore the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy as Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain. Manage your crew, upgrade your ship, recruit new crew members and engage in massive real-time naval battles to become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean. Along the way, players will cross paths with Assassins and Templars, as well as famous historical figures including Blackbeard, Bellamy, and Hornigold.”

Details on both games are still scarce, but we’ll be sure to fill you in when we learn more. Did you play Liberation the first time around? What did you think?

Briefly: A few weeks back, a mysterious, intriguing video appeared on Bad Robot’s official YouTube channel. The internet was ripe with speculation on whether Stranger teased a new, unannounced film or television series. As it turns out, it’s neither.

Bad Robot has debuted a new trailer for the project, which is a book developed by JJ Abrams and written by Doug Dorst, simply titled S. EW was able to take a look at the novel, and describes it as follows:

S. is basically about the relationship between a grad student named Eric and a college senior named Jennifer. They trade notes in the margins of a (fictional) 1949 novel by a mysterious author named V.M. Straka. S. contains the novel within the novel; copious handwritten notes between Jennifer and Eric (“a conversation that plunges them into the unknown,” according to the book jacket); and dozens of pieces of ephemera between the pages like newspaper clippings and a napkin with a map drawn on it.

S. sounds insanely interesting, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. The book releases on October 29. Take a look at the new teaser below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

Briefly: One of 2015’s most anticipated movies just got a new release date!

That’s right! Marvel’s Phase Three kickoff, Ant-Man, has just been brought forward. The film was initially scheduled for November 6th, 2015, and is now slated for July 31st.

This move puts the launch of Edgar Wright’s next film just two weeks after the yet untitled Batman / Superman film, though it does move it further away from Bond 25.

Sure, it’s still two years away, but how much are you looking forward to Ant-Man?

Briefly: It may already seem like it happened ages ago, but just a few short months back, Microsoft made a very controversial console announcement: the Xbox One.

Always online, crazy DRM, an always-watching Kinect… Microsoft blamed it on miscommunication and Major Nelson himself stated that these things couldn’t be changed by simply flipping a switch (before Microsoft went ahead and flipped that switch). Regardless of what you believe, there is still a lot of confusion as to Xbox One’s current policies.

Microsoft today released a short infographic to raise awareness of the way the console works. If you like to keep up with video games and console announcements, none of this will be news to you. If not, maybe the infographic will clarify a few things. Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think of the whole Xbox One debacle.

Briefly: With The Walking Dead returning in just another month, AMC today debuted yet another brief teaser for the upcoming season.

Judging from all of the trailers released so far, I couldn’t be more excited for the Scott Gimple-led fourth season of the popular drama. Woodbury’s gone, the politics are over, and the walkers are finally about to get into the prison.

Take a look at the new teaser below, and let us know if you’re excited! The Walking Dead premieres on October 13th!

Briefly: During a Japan-centric press conference earlier today, Sony surprised everyone with the reveal of a new model of the struggling PS Vita.

The new unit seems to change much of what people complained about with the first-generation console: the new Vita is 20% thinner and 15% lighter than the old unit, and also features 1gb of built in storage (which isn’t really enough to do anything but save games with). The new console also boasts a six-hour battery, up from the previous generation’s five. Strangely, Sony has also changed the Vita’s display type. The first-generation console was lauded for its beautiful, crisp, and bright OLED screen, while the new version uses a standard LCD panel instead.

Six colours were revealed for the new Vita: black, white, pink, blue, yellow, and green. The console hits Japan on October 10th, while no other territories were announced.

Honestly, it sounds like a much better unit than the first generation console. It’s not all good, however, as there’s no way that the new LCD panel will be able to stand up against the OLED display of the older unit. I’m still wary about the Vita, as mine has been collecting dust for the better part of a year now. Sure, it’ll make a great streaming device for the Playstation 4, but come this time next year, will it be anything more than that?

Will you be picking up a new Vita when (and if) it hits your country? Let us know!

Briefly: Just yesterday, Columbia Pictures surprised us all with a pretty impressive first trailer for José Padilha’s Robocop remake.

Today, the studio has released a new batch of stills for the film, giving us a much better look at Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, Samuel Jackson as Pat Novak, Michael Keaton as Raymond Sellars, as well as new shots of both the grey and black Robocop suits from the film.

So far, Robocop looks like it’s coming together pretty nicely, don’t you think? Take a look at the new stills below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! Robocop hits theatres on February 7th!
