Briefly: Marvel today sent out the first preview pages for the upcoming 10th issue of Nova. This mark’s the 100th issue of the Human Rocket, and the issue is super-sized in order to celebrate.

From the press release:

This November, celebrate the milestone 100th Issue Anniversary of the Human Rocket with the supersonically supersized Nova #10! High adventure in deep space from the team of Zeb Wells & Carlo Barberi.  But that’s not all! Nova #10 also features the debut of new regular Nova writer Gerry Duggan (Deadpool) in a story drawn by superstar Nova artist Paco Medina!

Since acquiring the Nova Force it’s been a bumpy ride for fifteen year-old Sam Alexander! Fighting alongside Rocket Raccoon & Gamora, a not-so-nice encounter with the Superior Spider-Man – not to mention a run in with Thanos and his Black Order! But that’s all about to change! Big changes are coming for Nova, and it starts here! (Oh, and did we mention a guest appearance by the new New Warriors setting up their All-New Marvel Now! series in February?)

“It took us a few decades to get to #100 and Zeb’s wrap up along with Gerry’s explosive debut story is a perfect way to celebrate this well-earned anniversary,” says Senior Editor Stephen Wacker. “With the Nova Corps showing up in next summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Marvel’s coolest new hero is going to have a huge spotlight and this is the place where Nova blasts off big time!”

Don’t miss the start of a bombastic new beginning for Marvel’s sentinel of the stars whenNova #10 rockets into print and digital this November!

Briefly: Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is now just a few days away from stores, and Ubisoft has just released a new, nine-minute long preview of the anticipated title.

The video teaches us everything there is to know about the largest and most immersive Assassin’s game ever created. See how Edward Kenway takes on the Golden Age of Pirates, and meet the outlaw characters that defined this unforgettable era. Experience the breadth of this open-world, including enhanced naval gameplay, expansive new environments, exotic animals and the vibrant underwater world. And learn more about new combat features and weapons, including dual-sword attacks, multi-gun abilities and the free-aim system.

The game looks great, and looks like a fantastic return to form for the series after the missteps of Assassin’s Creed III. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag launches in North America on October 29th!

Briefly: Marvel has just revealed just when we’ll get our first taste of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The company took to twitter to debut a new poster for the Phase Two film, and also announced that the first trailer will release this Thursday!

Take a look at the tweet (and poster) below, and check back on Thursday for the Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer! How excited are you for the Captain America sequel? Sound out below!

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers – aka Captain America – living quietly in Washington, DC, and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy – the Winter Soldier.

Briefly: Call of Duty: Ghosts is finally nearing release (at least for current-gen consoles and Wii U), and Activision has just debuted a fantastic launch trailer for the game.

The video takes us through some action-packed, dog-filled moments, and even though I haven’t enjoyed a Call of Duty game since the original Modern Warfare (which I loved), Ghosts has certainly piqued my interest.

Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up! Call of Duty: Ghosts hits PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on November 5th, Playstation 4 on November 15th, and Xbox One on November 22nd.

Briefly: We’re now just a few days away from the theatrical release of Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, and Paramount Pictures has just debuted a red-band trailer for the film.

The new preview is filled with vulgar language and an old-man’s fake penis, so I’d recommend keeping it far away from children. Adults, you’ll probably find the trailer hilarious (as long as you’re into this kind of humour of course). I know I did.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and be sure to let us know what your favourite Jackass skit is! Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa hits theatres on October 25th!

86 year-old Irving Zisman is on a journey across America with the most unlikely companions, his 8 year-old Grandson Billy in “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.” This October, the signature Jackass character Irving Zisman (Johnny Knoxville) and Billy (Jackson Nicoll) will take movie audiences along for the most insane hidden camera road trip ever captured on camera.

Along the way Irving will introduce the young and impressionable Billy to people, places and situations that give new meaning to the term childrearing. The duo will encounter male strippers, disgruntled child beauty pageant contestants (and their equally disgruntled mothers), funeral home mourners, biker bar patrons and a whole lot of unsuspecting citizens.

Real people in unreal situations, making for one really messed up comedy.

Briefly: After waiting for what seems like forever, Traveller’s Tales Lego Marvel Super Heroes is finally just a day away from launch.

The developer today released a launch trailer for the game, which is narrated by Stan Lee, and definitely sells me on the title. The plot sounds cool, the heroes look great, and Traveller’s Tales classic Lego gameplay is wonderful.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up! Lego Marvel Super Heroes is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, and PC (with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions set to follow).

Briefly: Warner Bros. Interactive today debuted a 17-minute gameplay walkthrough for this week’s release of Batman: Arkham Origins.

The video features Senior Producer Ben Mattes and Gameplay Director Michael McIntyre at WB Games Montréal, who guide you through the mechanics of the new title, highlighting the game’s deep combat system and engrossing narrative. In the video,  you’ll see the Dark Knight explore the Batcave, beat down on thugs and infiltrate a corrupt Gotham City Police Department.

I think that anyone who may have been worried about Arkham Origins failing to live up to the Arkham standard can now rest assured, the game looks awesome. Take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Origins this Friday!

Looking for more Batman: Arkham Origins? Batman voice actor Roger Craig-Smith was a guest on last week’s episode of Geekscape!

Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.

Briefly: Following the impressive “Perfect Day” commercial that Sony released last week, the company has debuted another ad, this time promoting the legendary Playstation brand as “for the players since 1995”.

The video takes us through the history of Playstation and the ever-changing world around it. It certainly makes you feel nostalgic for the good ol’ days of split screen gaming, but also makes me really, really long for the release of the PS4 (whether or not I’ll be getting one on launch day is still up in the air).

The ad has been produced with fantastic attention to detail – note that the aspect ratios and quality of video changes as time progresses, among other things. Take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Sony’s new console!

Briefly: Here’s some groovy news to wrap up your weekend.

There have been plenty of Army of Darkness 2 rumours over the past few years, leaving all of us fans to wonder if (1), the movie would ever happen, and if (2), Bruce Campbell would be involved with the project. It looks as though we now have our answer to both of those questions.

During this weekend’s Wizard World Nashville, Campbell was asked “Are you going to make a sequel to Army of Darkness?”

Campbell replied, stating:

“The last one was twenty-two years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I used to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.

Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it.

Alright sir, the answer is yes.”

Of course, nothing is official until it’s official, but hearing this from the franchise star is enough to make us confident that something is in the works. What would you like to see in a sequel? Sound out below!

Briefly: Back in July, Namco announced an online, HD remake of the best game in the Soul Calibur series, Soul Calibur II..

The video here is a little grainy, but I expect that the actual game will look wonderful (Namco states that the game “is still in development and the video is compressed in order to fit the YouTube format). I really can’t wait to jump back into the ring here, even if I won’t be able to play as Link (a Wii U version was not announced).

Watch the game’s latest trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to it! Soul Calibur II HD Online is set to release on PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime this Fall (lets hope for PS4 and Xbox One versions too)!

Briefly: NBC today announced the long-awaited return date for Community‘s fifth season.

The network has cancelled newcomers Ironside and Welcome to the Family (which I’ve never actually even heard of), and set premiere dates and times for both Community and Chicago P.D.

Community kicks off its fifth season on Thursday, January 2nd at 8PM (premiering with two episodes back-to-back), while Chicago P.D. starts January 8th.

Season five of Community, of course, features the long awaited return of series creator Dan Harmon, who was fired before season 4 began production, only to be asked back a year later. We won’t be seeing Chevy Chase, who left the series in its fourth season, and we’ll be seeing much less of Donald Glover, who will appear for only five episodes.

Are you excited for Community‘s return? Being that it’s my favourite comedy, I can’t freaking wait! It will, however, be interesting to see which of the show’s mechanics need to change now the the study group will be so much smaller. Maybe they’ll finally let Chang in?

Briefly: Following rumours earlier this week, Sony today confirmed that Driveclub would not be releasing with the Playstation 4.

This follows Ubisoft’s news of the Watch Dogs delay from a few days back, meaning that in less than one week, the Playstation 4 has lost two of its biggest games (and one of its few exclusives).

Driveclub was originally slated to release alongside the Playstation 4 on November 15th, and Playstation Plus members (a service which is required for online play on the PS4) were set to receive a stripped-down version of the game for free.

The game will now launch in 2014, and Playstation Plus members will instead receive Compulsion Games’ wonderful looking ContrastDriveclub will be available to Playstation Plus members when the full game launches.

According to Sony, “We understand that the delay is disappointing news, but can assure you that the reason we have made this decision is to ensure that when DRIVECLUB launches, it will realize the next-gen racing vision. And PlayStation 4 gamers will have no shortage of titles to play this year. At launch alone, we have Killzone Shadow Fall, Knack, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, FIFA 14, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Battlefield 4 to name but a few, as well as the incredible list of indie games coming to PS4. A broad portfolio of games will be available on PS4 before the end of the year, and with games such as inFAMOUS Second Son, The Order 1886, Destiny, Watch Dogs and now DRIVECLUB coming next year, the strength of the software line-up on PS4 is unprecedented.”

Briefly: Bethesda has released a new trailer for their upcoming title, The Elder Scrolls Online, showing off the game’s expansive character creation system.

The video features and interview with art director Jared Carr, who takes us through many of the different modification options (there are a lot), and explains just how important it is to give players all of the options possible.

The game didn’t look overly impressive back when over 20 minutes of (now removed) beta footage was leaked online. It’s nice to see that the graphics have improved substantially since then, and hopefully the gameplay remains solid as well. I know that many people were upset when Bethesda revealed that The Elder Scrolls Online would require a monthly subscription fee, but take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’ll still be checking out the game.

The Elder Scrolls Online launches in 2014 for Windows, OS X, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.

Note: the following review is as spoiler-free as possible. Haven’t played the game yet? Fear not, and read on!

Telltale Games has struck gold again.

The developer first announced an episodic adventure game based on Bill Willingham’s long-running DC/Vertigo series, Fables, all the way back in June 2011, way before we’d ever get our hands on our favourite game of 2012, The Walking Dead. Haven’t read the series? That’s no problem, as The Wolf Among Us is set 20 years before the first issue of the comic. This doesn’t make the plot meaningless, however, as Telltale has designed the series alongside Willingham, who has crafted a previously untold, yet canon story.

The Wolf Among Us suffered multiple delays during its development, but the game’s premiere episode is finally here, and after my first play through, it’s quite clear that Telltale remains the undisputed king of adventure titles.

BigbyCigaretteFable

As the game opens, we’re dropped into Fabletown, an area of New York City where Fables (fairy tale beings) of all shapes and sizes make themselves look like humans (using a Glamour spell, duh) and attempt to live human lives. You play as the sheriff of Fabletown, Bigby Wolf, a Fable who’s trying his best to reform himself after a long, sordid past (under his human skin he’s literally The Big Bad Wolf) by keeping all of the other Fables in check. Naturally, things don’t seem to be going too well for Bigby, and he’s finding himself in trouble much more often than he’d like. The Wolf Among Us plays out like an investigative/noir/deep character drama. It’s almost like a more magical L.A. Noire, except it’s not in the 1940’s, and you’ll actually want to play it beyond the halfway point.

If you’ve played The Walking Dead (you have played The Walking Dead, right?), you’ll feel right at home with The Wolf Among Us. The gameplay here is nearly identical, and that’s a very good thing: it’s a point-and-click adventure game at heart, and unlike, say, Quantic Dreams’ recent Beyond: Two Souls (which I actually really liked), The Wolf Among Us doesn’t waste its time with complicated button combinations require confusing instructions (or lack of) to do simple tasks, and instead puts the phenomenal plot, tough choices, and gorgeous visuals and audio front and centre.

BigbySnowCrane

The really incredible feat here is how the game improves on nearly every aspect of The Walking Dead. You’ll immediately notice the extremely striking visuals and audio of this title. While The Walking Dead‘s (albeit still gorgeous) comic book artstyle was much more drab and grey, the world of The Wolf Among Us is immediately more colourful, featuring a diverse neon palette that we never saw in Telltale’s previous game. As Faith faded in from black and I saw Bigby’s stark, unshaven face pass through the different levels of street lighting, I couldn’t help but say “wow” out loud. It’s that good, and Jared Emerson-Johnson’s varied soundscape is one that’s just as impressive. A year later, I barely remember what the music of The Walking Dead sounded like, but I could easily put the audio of The Wolf Among Us onto an iPod and listen to it regularly. There’s simply a level of polish present throughout the game that The Walking Dead (in all of its game-of-the-year winning glory) was never able to match. It’s blatantly obvious that Telltale learns a lot from each title that they develop, and it shows in each subsequent game, The Wolf Among Us being no exception.

The choices that Faith presents are perhaps the one facet of gameplay that The Walking Dead did better. Not that there’s anything wrong with the options given here; they’re tough, can be life-or-death, and they definitely all have pros, cons, and different outcomes. It could simply be due to the difference in setting, or it could be that The Walking Dead‘s choices didn’t really start ramping up until episode two, but I simply felt that the choices that I made in Telltale’s previous title were more meaningful and personal. Almost every major decision throughout The Walking Dead, I thought “what’s best for Clementine?” or “if I choose wrong here, I could mess everything up.” I haven’t yet felt that here, and while still tough, I’ve predominantly chosen based on which option sounded more intriguing. I think that the choices are bound to become harder and harder as we become more attached to these characters, but right now my choices are based on what sounds more interesting for the (infinitely intriguing) plot, rather than what’s best for the lives of my party.

BigbyFight

Continuing the improvements over The Walking Dead are the gameplay mechanics themselves. Action sequences in The Wolf Among Us feel much more organic, and feature much less mashing of a single button. Contextual actions seem easier to perform, yet never feel too forgiving. Arguably the most welcome improvement is the addition of a fast-walk button, which nearly doubles the speed of the abhorrently slow default walk. Seriously, if a faster walk was the only improvement to the engine that Telltale made, I’d have been a happy camper. The gameplay and controls worked excellently in The Walking Dead, and it’s all on par or better here.

The Wolf Among Us isn’t perfect, of course. It seems that, being a modern Telltale title, the game needs to include the myriad of technical issues that plagued each and every episode of The Walking Dead. Voices (did I mention how good the voice work is?) go out of sync and sometimes lines are repeated, cameras lag and hang before finally changing angles, and some users are experiencing the inevitable save game bug. Most of the problems are simply minor annoyances, but are extremely noticeable since the rest of the game is so damned polished.

Toad_ToadJr

Overall, Faith is an excellent entry point into what’s already becoming one of the best narrative games of the year (this seems to be becoming a regular occurrence for Telltale). The game is polished, the plot is great, the choices are tough, and the ending leaves you eager to jump into the next episode (which is about a month and a half away). The premiere episode of The Wolf Among Us bests last year’s The Walking Dead opener in nearly every way, and if episode two, Smoke & Mirrors can improve on what we’ve seen here, The Wolf Among Us could easily be a contender for game-of-the-year.

Whether you’ve read the book or not, I’d wholeheartedly recommend The Wolf Among Us to everyone (though be mindful of the ESRB rating, it’s definitely not for kids). I can’t wait to get another taste of Fabletown and this gorgeous neon New York. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go buy some Fables TPBs.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1 – Faith scores an impressive 4.5/5.

Briefly: While I thoroughly enjoyed the first three titles in the Paranormal Activity franchise, the fourth chapter was absolutely abysmal.

Today, Paramount Pictures debuted the first trailer for a spinoff from the main series, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. The Paranormal Activity formula is certainly beginning to show its age, but even so, The Marked Ones features plenty of new faces and is already looking substantially better than Paranormal Activity 4 (which again, I hated).

The film was written and directed by Christopher Landon (who also worked on the first three), and stars Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratts, David Fernandez Jr, Jorge Diaz, and plenty of others. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones hits theatres in January!

Briefly: Another day, another new clip from Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World.

Unlike yesterday’s clip, which showed off Thor in battle and the awesome power of Mjolnir, today’s clip shows off the heartfelt reunion between Thor and Jane Foster.

Take a look at the clip below, and let us know if you’re looking to the film. Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on November 8th!

http://youtu.be/RQ61yFJOH7s

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Briefly: Earlier this week we showed you the first trailer for NetherRealm Studios’ mobile edition of Batman: Arkham Origins.

The studio, which recently released the phenomenal Injustice: Gods Among Us, and also developed the 2011 iOS title Batman: Arkham City LockdownOrigins looks like a great evolution of their previous mobile Batman title.

You’ll play as Batman as he fights his way through Gotham City’s most dangerous locales and encounters a number of DC Comics’ most deadly assassins. As you progress, you’ll be able to upgrade your character’s skills and fighting tactics, but you’ll also be able to unlock a number of unique Batsuits by earning in-game currency and rewards, and fans that also own a console version of the game will be able to access exclusive bonus content that is not available elsewhere.

Batman: Arkham Origins is available now for iOS, while the Android version is expected later this holiday season. Head here to download the title, and be sure to let us know if you enjoy it! The console version of Batman: Arkham Origins releases on October 25th.

Briefly: Warner Bros. today debuted two new TV spots for next week’s highly anticipated release of Batman: Arkham Origins.

The game is looking fantastic so far, but of course, many have been worried that it wouldn’t have a chance at matching the quality of the first two titles in the series. First, Rocksteady Studios is not developing the game (it’s instead being handled directly by Warner Bros. Interactive), and second, neither Kevin Conroy nor Mark Hamill are involved with the title.

Troy Baker, the new voice of The Joker, recently recited a monologue from Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, and it was wonderful. Roger Craig Smith sounds great as Batman (and was also on tonight’s Geekscape, look for the link later), and early buzz for the game has been excellent. At this point in the game’s cycle, I don’t think that we have anything to worry about.

Take a look at the spots below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game! Batman: Arkham Origins releases on October 25th!

Briefly: This is really cool.

Machinima already has one of the most download Xbox 360 apps around, and they’re clearly looking to continue that success with the Xbox One.

Launching concurrently with the Xbox One, Machinima Wingman is an all new app designed to take advantage of the Xbox One’s substantial hardware improvements. It’s set to offer will offer a new and best-in-breed companion experience for gamers around the world: rich, custom-created, and exclusive videos that accompany and complement the next-gen gameplay of a select group of Xbox One launch titles. In addition, the Machinima app on Xbox One will provide exclusive entertainment experiences, with tent-pole series, weekly shows and other fan-focused content, alongside all of the variety of network and partner content Machinima is known for.

Exclusive content sounds like a great incentive to download the app. I already subscribe to Machinima on YouTube, but Wingman sounds like a great new delivery system for the content that we already know and love.

Machinima Xbox One Start Screen

According to the press release, this “exclusive entertainment experience will leverage key Xbox One platform differentiators, including the integrated Snap mode, which offers users the ability to do two things at once. This function provided Machinima with the tools to create “Machinima Wingman,” a rich, contextual game companion. It’s almost as if a buddy is sitting right next to you, providing tips and tricks, as well as helping players through the toughest parts in the game. An Xbox One-exclusive companion experience, “Machinima Wingman” is initiated by users through a verbal command “Xbox, Snap Machinima” and will automatically open and snap the Machinima app into view, immediately sensing the game being played and serving up a relevant playlist of video. Available in Standard and Enhanced forms, “Machinima Wingman” features a rich library of curated videos based on the game title being played and providing anything from walk-throughs, to game reviews, to help videos, and so much more. For Enhanced games, “Machinima Wingman” becomes even more keyed to best accompany gameplay.”

So I guess this means you won’t need to Google “How to beat x boss/level in x game” anymore. It’s all integrated, and sounds great!

The Machinma Wingman experience will surely get even better as time goes on. The company is planning both Microsoft Smart Glass support, as well as expanding the app’s feature set into 2014. Watch a video of Machinima Wingman running with Dead Rising 3 below, and let us know what you think!

Looks pretty cool, huh?

Briefly: After what seems like forever (but was actually more like two years), the long awaited Hulu Plus support has finally hit the Nintendo 3DS family.

According to Hulu’s official blog post, the company “worked closely with Nintendo to build a unique app that seamlessly blends together both the Hulu Plus and Nintendo user experience. Now, Nintendo 3DS and 2DS owners can enjoy current season TV and our vast library of commercial-free kids shows through an optimized viewing experience that takes full advantage of the systems’ dual screen option.

Users can start watching Hulu Plus on their Wii U or Wii at home, and continue to watch with their Nintendo 3DS system outside the home. That means you could be watching last night’s episode of The Simpsons from your living room couch, and pick up wherever you left off in the episode when you are on the go with your Nintendo 3DS. Also, you can use the touch screen to browse content and pause/play/seek, while the upper screen plays your video.”

I, of course, live in Canada, so the closest I’ve ever been to Hulu service is their international “sorry you can’t watch this” splash page. I can see the merits or the service on mobile phones, tablets, and home consoles, but aren’t the 3DS screens a little low-res to be watching television on?

In any case, the service is now live, and current Hulu Plus subscribers can simply log in and start watching! Will you be using Hulu on your handheld? Let us know!

Briefly: The Walking Dead premiered last week to a whopping 16 million viewers, and AMC today took us behind-the-scenes of season four with a new featurette.

The video features interviews with plenty of the series’ cast and crew, who assure us that they still have some tricks up their sleeve, and that this season is leading up to something bigI guess that all we can do is hope that it doesn’t end like last year, right?

Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think! Did you enjoy Sunday’s season premiere?

Briefly: Yesterday, we saw Malekith wake up. Today, it’s time to check out Thor in battle.

Marvel has released another clip from next month’s anticipated Thor: The Dark World. This time, Thor teleports into battle using his trusty Mjolnir, and proceeds to take down all of the bad guys without even trying. Of course, the encounter’s former leader offers the tried and true ‘I had everything under control’ line.

In any case, it’s cool to get a look at the action in the film. Thor: The Dark World is looking great so far, and I can’t wait to see more! Take a look at the clip below, and let us know what you think! The film hits theatres on November 8th!

Briefly: Following the film’s first clip from earlier this month, MGM today debuted a second scene from Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie.

The video is short, clocking in a just 16 seconds, and spotlights a distraught Carrie attempting to console her clearly unstable mother. The clip really showcases the fantastic performances that the film is sure to have, and it makes me very excited to get in line on Friday night.

Take a look at the clip below, and let us know what you think! Carrie hits theatres on October 18th!

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Briefly: Marvel today debuted a second clip for the highly anticipated Thor sequel, Thor: The Dark World.

While the film’s first clip was a dialogue-filled exchange between Thor and his adoptive brother, this new clip takes a much more silent approach. It features the The Dark World‘s villain, Malekith, waking up inside The Ark, and actually only contains one spoken line.

This movie is going to rock, right?

Take a look at the clip below, and let us know if you’re excited! Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on November 8th!

Briefly: To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Superman (that long already, huh?), Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) and Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series) have collaborated on a special, two minute short film that recaps the history of the Metropolis Marvel.

It’s really interesting to see which points of the character’s expansive history take the spotlight in the video. We see everything from Action Comics #1 (of course), to a giant Jimmy Olsen, to a fight with Mohammed Ali, to an Atari 2600 video game, and even the emotional death of the character. There’s no sign of Xenomorphs or Superman 64 anywhere in the video, sadly.

Take a look at the short below, and be sure to share your favourite memory of Superman! Here’s to another 75 years!

Briefly: I don’t like Angry Birds.

I’ve tried to put a good hour into any one of the franchise’s countless titles. The Star Wars version looks really cool, and the fact that a tiny developer could turn a simple game about shooting birds into pigs into a worldwide phenomenon is an incredible achievement, but I simply find the games insanely boring, and not really that much fun. I’m also getting a little bit sick of seeing that damned red bird every time I turn a corner.

All that being said, Angry Birds Go! looks fantastic.

Sure, it forgoes the shooting of birds into pigs completely, and instead takes on the Mario Kart ruled kart-racing genre. The thing is, I can’t play Mario Kart on my iPhone, and my search for a really good iOS kart racer has come up short (I’m open to suggestions).

Angry Birds Go! is a free-to-play racer that hits iOS, Android, and even Windows Phone and Blackberry 10 on December 11th. Watch the first trailer for the game below, and admit that it looks awesome!

Briefly: Sony has just released a hilarious new Playstation 4 commercial entitled ‘Perfect Day’.

The ad is short, and I don’t want to give anything away, so just take a look below, and let us know what you think!

I can’t wait to finally get my hands on the console (even if my most anticipated title, Watch Dogs, has just been delayed). I’m still trying to scrape the funds together, but I certainly hope the console can make me feel as great as this video did.

Which next-gen console (if any) are you planning to pick up?

Briefly: Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Watch Dogs has been delayed to 2014.

The game, which was set to release on November 19th (and was one of my most-wanted titles of the year) has been pushed to next Spring. Ubisoft explained the delay in a statement on their official website this morning:

Our ambition from the start with Watch_Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until Spring 2014 (Fall 2014 for Australia & New Zealand).

We know a lot of you are probably wondering ‘why now?’ We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune every detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and during other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion is what drives us.

We can’t wait to see you in Chicago next Spring. We are confident you’ll love this game as much as we love working on it.

So that’s that. One less game to buy at the PS4 launch, I suppose? I’m still beyond excited for title, and if the delay results in the release of a better game, I’m all for it. As the great Shigeru Miyamoto once said, “a delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Ubisoft’s The Crew, which was slated for a Q1 2014 release, has been pushed to Q2.

Briefly: It looks as though the Marvel television universe is set to get bigger.

Deadline has learned that the company is planning a 60-episode package containing four series and a miniseries, to shop to VOD and cable networks. No concrete information about any series or characters has been revealed at this time, nor is there any talent currently attached, but Marvel is allegedly looking at Netflix, Amazon and WGN America as network candidates.

With the roaring success of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which was recently ordered for a full season), I can imagine that there will be a lot of network interest these projects.

It’s unknown whether or not Marvel’s potential Agent Carter series is included in the package, but we’ll be sure to share more information as soon as we have it!

Briefly: Earlier this month, Ant-Man director Edgar Wright tweeted a behind-the-scenes costume test for the anticipated film. Today, the world learned just who’s on Marvel’s short list to star.

This guy:

PaulRudd

And this guy:

JGL

Yep, that’s Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Variety states that another potential actor could emerge before negotiations are finished, but that it’s unlikely at this point.

Who would you rather see in the role? I have to cast my vote on Gordon-Levitt, as I’ve been a major fan of his for years, but that’s just me. Sound out below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Ant-Man! The film hits theatres on July 31st, 2015!
