A scan of a popular Japanese publication, CoroCoro, has revealed that there will be three new characters joining Pokken Tournament–Braixen, Mewtwo, and Garchomp.  These characters will be joining the existing roster of Blaziken, Charizard, Gardevoir, Gengar, Lucario, Machamp, Pikachu, Pikachu Libre, Sceptile, Shadow Mewtwo, Suicune, and Weavile–now totaling 15 playable characters!  Even more, there will be a new character expected to be revealed tomorrow, thanks to a teaser from the official Pokken Twitter account.

Pokken Tournament is currently an arcade game in Japan (with previously limited availability in North America), which centers around Pokémon in fighting game style.  It is being developed in conjunction with Bandai Namco, and the fighting system (in my opinion) is very similar to Soul Calibur/Dead or Alive, using a rock-paper-scissors approach… otherwise known as the strike, grab, and block system.  It is unique in the fact that it allows for quadruped fighters, such as the Pokémon Suicune.

Pokken Tournament is due to be released on April 28 in Japan, and Spring 2016 in North America/Europe.

You may or may not have seen some of Will’s videos. He has an amazing channel centered around making things yourself. Some of the highlights of his channel are making props from video games, and his newest video has to be seen! Check out how he turned cardboard and foam into the Soul Edge Blade from Soul Calibur!

Briefly: I’ve been beyond excited for this one ever since it was revealed at SDCC. Now I’m glad to know just when I’ll be able to get my (digital) hands on it!

Namco Bandai took to Facebook today and revealed the release date of the highly anticipated (at least by me) Soul Calibur II HD Online. Here’s what they said:

We are pleased to announce that SOULCALIBUR II HD ONLINE will be available worldwide on November 20th on the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

One of the best fighting games of all-time, SOULCALIBUR II returns this year with new high definition graphics and all-new online modes in celebration for its 10 year anniversary.

As a reminder, SPAWN and HEIHACHI, originally exclusive guest characters for each platform, will be for the first time ever playable on both platforms.

Check out the exclusive Main Visual revealed for the occasion!

Don’t forget to share your thoughts and comments!

I cannot wait to play this. I can’t even recall how many hours I sunk into the original release of Soul Calibur II (on the GameCube, of course, as who didn’t want to fight as Link), and ow with improved visuals and online play, I’m sure to do it again.

Will you be picking up the title? Who’s your favourite fighter? Sound out below!

Briefly: Back in July, Namco announced an online, HD remake of the best game in the Soul Calibur series, Soul Calibur II..

The video here is a little grainy, but I expect that the actual game will look wonderful (Namco states that the game “is still in development and the video is compressed in order to fit the YouTube format). I really can’t wait to jump back into the ring here, even if I won’t be able to play as Link (a Wii U version was not announced).

Watch the game’s latest trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to it! Soul Calibur II HD Online is set to release on PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime this Fall (lets hope for PS4 and Xbox One versions too)!

Briefly: This is certainly one of the biggest (and best) gaming surprises of this year’s Comic-Con.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Namco Bandai’s Soul Calibur II, the company has decided to rerelease the game as a downloadable title. Oh yeah, and they’ve also updated it with full high-definition graphics and online multiplayer.

Awesome, right?

Soul Calibur II HD Online is set to hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year. No word has been given on the state of the original release’s console specific characters, but seeing as a Wii U version was not announced, you sadly won’t be fighting as Link any time soon. It’s been years (nearly 10, in fact) since I’ve played Soul Calibur II, but the game was an incredible achievement in fighting games, and I’ll certainly be checking out this updated version.

Take a look at the first trailer for the rerelease below, and let us know what you think! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the title as we learn more!
