The bundle costs a cool $329.99, and will include a Wii U Deluxe Set system, a Mario Kart 8 game, a red Mario Wii Wheel accessory and a red Mario Wii Remote Plus controller. That’s enough for you and a pal to get your Kart on.

You’ll have the choice of New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, or Wii Party U. This offer also applies to people who get the game in the Mario Kart 8 bundle or digitally in the Nintendo eShop.

So you’re buying a game that you know is going to be amazing, and you’re getting another critically acclaimed titled for doing it. That’s awesome.

Will you be picking up the game? Grabbing a console just so you can play it? Be sure to let us know!

Briefly: Actor Bob Hoskins has died of pneumonia at age 71.

The actor, who retired in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkison’s disease, died in hospital surrounded by his family.

The actor most recently starred in 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsmen, but was best known for his roles in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and he also played Mario in Super Mario Bros.

In a statement to the media, his wife Linda, and children Alex, Sarah, Rosa and Jack said that “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob.” and that “We ask that you respect our privacy during this time and thank you for your messages of love and support.”

Be sure to let us know what your favourite Hoskin’s role was in the comments below.

Briefly: Outlast is awesome… at least for the short, short period of time that I’ve been able to play the game.

See, right from the opening moment, the gorgeous independent title is absolutely terrifying. I just can’t bring myself to play the game for very long at all.

I better get on it, as next week the Outlast: Whistleblower DLC launches for PC and PS4. It’ll cost a cool $8.99, and judging from the just-released first trailer, it’ll be just as terrifying as the base game.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up.

Whistleblower will let you play as Waylon Park, a software engineer under contract with Murkoff and the man who emailed journalists around the world – including Miles – at the beginning of Outlast. Spending a couple of weeks at Mount Massive, during which he was unable to even talk to his wife and son thanks to strict security protocols, Waylon developed a deep-seated distrust of the profit-motivated scientists and doctors leading dangerous and irresponsible experiments on their patients. Identifying with those poor souls fueled Waylon’s anger, and set the stage for his unmasking of Mount Massive’s rotten core.

Although Whistleblower tells the story that led to Outlast, it will actually stretch past the events of the first game to show the final chapter in Mount Massive Asylum’s story.

Briefly: DriveClub just got a release date, and it’s not the early 2014 launch that gamers were hoping for.

Sony revealed the date of October 7th, 2014, with a trailer showing off some gorgeous new footage of the title.

Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE Worldwide Studios said that:

We planned for the game to be ready for early 2014 and are committed to delivering on our ambitious promise of creating a truly innovative, socially connected racing game.

The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What DRIVECLUB offers has not been previously achieved in this category, and, because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for.

In addition to the new date, we are also very pleased to announce that as of February 2014, Paul Rustchynsky — better known as Rushy — has been at the helm of DRIVECLUB as Game Director. We appreciate the announcement has come a little late, however we wanted to inform his appointment along with the new date announcement.

His experience when it comes to delivering racing games is impeccable. Previously Game Director on critically acclaimed MotorStorm RC, he has been an integral contributor to all major titles coming out of Evolution Studios since 2004. With Rushy in the lead, we know DRIVECLUB will deliver on its initial promise to be a truly next gen racing title for our PS4 portfolio.

We are really proud of the incredible work the team has produced — their tenacity and passionate pursuit of excellence is admirable, and DRIVECLUB will be all the better for it.

Your anticipation for the title since my last update has been a huge source of motivation for the team at Evolution Studios, and I know they are all extremely grateful for your continued support. Look out for plenty more news on DRIVECLUB in the coming weeks, including a blog update direct from Rushy tomorrow, and don’t forget, the date is in the trailer. I hope you enjoy watching it.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game!

Briefly: I wasn’t expecting to hear any casting news until May 4th (I wonder what’s in store for us that day), but Disney has just revealed the cast of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII!

Here’s the announcement, straight from StarWars.com:

The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Director J.J. Abrams says, “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

Of course, we don’t know who’s playing who (aside from the original cast, of course), or even what characters we’ll see in the film, but in any case, it’s hard not to get excited.

Take a look at the first photo of the cast below, and let us know what you think of the news!

Briefly: Just hours after exploring the monster’s roar with a new featurette, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have debuted a new international trailer for Godzilla.

This one clocks in at just over 90 seconds, but it’s filled to the brim with new footage. It also kind of reveals other monsters from the film, so if you’re trying to avoid spoilers, I’d probably avoid this video.

If not, take a look at the breathtaking footage below, and let us know what you think! Godzilla hits theatres on May 16th!

an epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Making his first appearance in 1954 (Gojira) Godzilla is a giant monster that lives in the sea that comes from the ocean to feed on mankind.

Briefly: Following those behind-the-scenes images from a few weeks back, Marvel has just debuted three new stills from this Summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy. We get (another) couple of shots of Chris Pratt’s Star Lord, and our best look yet at Karen Gillan’s Nebula.

Take a look at the stills below, rewatch that awesome first trailer, and let us know just how excited you are for the film! Guardians of the Galaxy hits theatres on August 1st!

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchise of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team–the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand–with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Briefly: If you’re a regular user of the iOS ComiXology app, you’ve likely already realized that the latest update stinks.

If the fact that you can no longer buy books within the app wasn’t bad enough, the realization that so much of the functionality that made the app great (and addictive) in the first place is now nowhere to be found will likely have you searching (and failing to find) a worthy alternative.

Gerry Conway, the comic book writer most famous for killing Gwen Stacy AND co-creating the Punisher, has written an excellent guest column on ComicBook.com about just how terrible Amazon’s move is, and what it means for the industry. Here’s a small excerpt:

And so, as we could have predicted, Amazon wrecks Comixology.

What has it been, less than a month since Jeff Bezos bought the most promising tool for renewing the mass distribution of comics in the digital era? I’ll give the man this: he’s moved faster to undermine an existing technology for the benefit of his own company than General Motors did when it sabotaged Los Angeles’s public transit Red Line for the benefit of the bus fleet they wanted to sell the City of Angels. Job well done, Jeff.

Be sure to head over to ComicBook.com for the full article. It’s well worth it.

Have you used the new app yet? Are you ready to give up digital comics? Sound out below.

Briefly: You know how excited we are for Gareth Edwards Godzilla (since before we went to the Godzilla Encounter at SDCC last year).

We’ve eaten up every image, trailer, teaser, and featurette that Legendary and Warner Bros. has thrown at as. Rightly so, as this film (and every piece of marketing for it) looks fantastic.

This new, short featurette delves into the classic beast’s new roar, and just what it took to create it.

Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think. Godzilla hits theatres on May 16th!

an epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Briefly: It won’t premiere on television for another two weeks, but Showtime has just debuted the entire first episode of their anticipated series Penny Dreadful for free online.

The link, of course, is US only, so international readers will need a VPN to view the episode.

In the series, some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters – including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula – have become embroiled in Victorian London. The series is a frightening psychosexual thriller created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) and executive produced by Logan’s Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road), both of Neal Street.

Take a look at the episode below (unless you want to wait until May 11th), and let us know what you think!

Briefly: HBO today (finally) released a full for its upcoming myster/drama series, The Leftovers, which is based on a rapture novel by Tom Perrotta and will also act as Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof’s return to TV (Lost’s other showrunner, Carlton Cuse, has already returned with the fantastic Bates Motel).

Judging from this trailer alone (not to mention that neat teaser from a couple of weeks ago), I think that this may be next next TV addiction. The Leftovers looks hugely mysterious (much like Lost, which I miss to this day), creepy as hell, and just damned interesting.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. The Leftovers premieres on HBO June 29th.

Last weekend marked a HUGE start to a jam-packed convention season, with WonderCon in Anaheim, Sakuracon in Seattle, and Fan Expo in Vancouver all running concurrently from Friday through Sunday.

As I’ll be heading down to San Diego for Comic-Con in July, another trip across the border wasn’t in the cards for me this month (I’m located on Vancouver Island, Canada, if you weren’t already aware). So, I hopped on a ferry, grabbed a bus, and ended up here: the Vancouver Convention Centre. My ever-growing-in-geekiness girlfriend joined me for this one, as she’s never been to a convention before, and was super interested after hearing my many stories from last year’s SDCC and Stan Lee’s Comikaze. She even cosplayed (which you’ll learn all about in her special guest post which should be up in the next day or two).

I don’t spend much time in Vancouver, so I’d never actually had the pleasure of seeing its convention centre before. The building was absolutely incredible, to the level of possibly being the nicest building that I’ve ever entered. Seriously, check out the photo gallery on the building’s official website, and you’ll see what I mean.

Of course, I wasn’t here for the building. I was here to see what Fan Expo Vancouver’s 162,000 sq. ft of booths, exhibitors, artists, guests, panels, and more had to offer.

There were also a few specific single issues that I planned on hunting down:

1) The very first issue of Y: The Last Man, especially since series artist and Vancouver native Pia Guerra had a table in artist’s alley. – I failed on this front… apparently there wasn’t a single retailer on the show floor that had a copy. Y is my favourite comic book series, and so this is an issue that I’ve wanted for years.

2) The first issue of Vol 1. of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man. Spidey has been my favourite hero since I was a small child, but this is the series that got me really into comics. I’ve always wanted a copy of the first issue, and artist Mark Bagley was also at the convention. Sadly, I failed here too.

3) Saga chapter one. I read the first issue digitally before adding the book to my physical pull list. Of course, at the point chapter one was impossible to find a first print of. I succeeded here, got a great deal on the issue, and it was signed by artist Fiona Staples too.

Tickets for the Expo went on sale a couple of months before the show opened, and for such a well put together event, I was quite impressed with the price of entry. A pass for the entire weekend ran just $69, while a ‘premium’ pass was $99 and included a t-shirt, bag, collectible badge, and lanyard, along with entry through an exclusive entrance (which exited right by the mini-donut stand) and entry two hours before regular ticket holders. Have kids? They got in for free with your ticket purchase. Very cool.

The shirt included with the premium pass.
The shirt included with the premium pass.

Once we picked up our tickets, we walked through the premium (and press, apparently) entrance and were welcomed by a spacious, well laid out show floor. The celebrity autograph and photo op area were wide open, meaning that even if you weren’t interested in paying an autograph fee, you could still get a glimpse of any of the many celebrities in attendance. Those lines got very long, very fast, which meant that there was plenty of room to peruse through the 98+ exhibitor booths (and that’s not including artist’s alley). The aisles were wide, and even at the expo’s busiest times (read: the entirety of Saturday), you had room to move, which is more than you could expect from SDCC and Comikaze. I loved this aspect, as there was never a moment of Fan Expo that wasn’t calm, relaxed, and fun (or maybe it’s just Canadian), while the other aforementioned cons can be outright confusing and overwhelming at (most) times.

Interested in looking at the layout or seeing what events Fan Expo had to offer? Click here for the official schedule.

I spent the majority of the first day following my ecstatic girlfriend while she obsessed over Pop! figures (her newest addiction), studied each and every item at each an every booth (or at least what seemed like it), and excitedly talked to nearly every artist in artist’s alley. It was awesome to see, and reminded me of the perplexed awe that I felt both at my first convention (Emerald City Comic-Con in 2009), and especially last year at my first SDCC.

Once the show floor closed for the night, we walked around Vancouver’s famous Robson street in search of a neat dining experience unlike one that we’d find on Vancouver Island. We ended up at a Mongolian BBQ, which boasted a ridiculously affordable healthy meal that basically had us filling a dish with vegetables, meats and sauces in whatever portions we desired, before the restaurant’s chef cooked it up in front of you. The food was delicious, and more than filling, all for under $10.

The next morning we left our hotel, grabbed some delicious (especially since I’d never had one before) Belgian waffles from a small cafe fittingly titled Waffles N’ Berries, and then headed back to the show floor. Today, we (of course) spent a lot of time on the floor (I did the lion’s share of my book hunting… and failing, today), but also decided to see what Fan Expo’s panels had to offer. Hayley donned the cosplay garb that she’d been working on for the last month (again, look for a guest post about that soon), and it looked great, and a ton of people asked her for photos, so while she was absurdly nervous while dressing up, she was nothing but confident when she arrived.

First we went to a Sailor Moon 20th anniversary panel. This one wasn’t my idea, as I’ve never really read (or watched) anything from the Sailor Moon universe. I’m very glad that I attended it however, as it was one of the best examples of fan community and passion that I’ve ever witnessed.  The panel started with the somber announcement of the passing of a 7 year old Sailor Moon superfan named Dawn. Dawn was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, and one of her final wishes was to be visited by the Sailor Moon team. Here’s the video of the visit:

Dawn passed away just a few weeks before Fan Expo. It was extremely heartbreaking to see the group member, who was a full grown man who looked as though he could easily take me in a fight (not that it would be particularly hard), break into tears and simply find himself too overwhelmed to continue speaking. It brought the entire room to tears, and was truly an inspirational moment of realization of just what fandom and community mean.

The multimedia panel continued with video clips from the multitude of Sailor Moon musicals (which I didn’t know existed, but they actually looked pretty cool), and the little known revelation that a new musical is in the works. Then we were shown some godawful footage from Toon Maker’s version of Sailor Moon. It was an animated/live-action hybrid, and it almost existed, here’s the video:

During the video, the room filled with Sailor Moon fans and cosplayers gasped and laughed at the worst imaginable version of the thing that they loved so much. It was pretty hilarious, but also extremely scary that something so bad nearly existed.

After the panel we grabbed some lunch (FatBurger, naturally) and went back to the show floor. This time we met WolfCop (check out the hilarious trailer here), and then split up for a bit so Hayley could look for more Pop! figures and so I could flip through long boxes. Good fun.

Before the show closed, we headed up to Ballroom A, where the Fan Expo’s first Masquerade was being held. This was essentially a cosplay contest with a hilarious MC, and for the most part it was a fantastic way to see some of the convention’s best costumes. Costumers walked the stage for the better part of 90 minutes (including the opening children’s group, which was ridiculously cute). There were some amazing costumes here, and I wish that I’d had a better camera on me at the time to snap some photos of them. The were just two issues that I had with the Masquerade; first being that a substantial portion of the entrants didn’t show up (why the hell would you sign up if you weren’t planning to make it), and second being that following the final entrant walking the stage, the judges left to talk about who should win… and then they didn’t return for over an hour. We actually left before the judges returned, as the room was reduced to non-performers heading onstage to sing terrible renditions of hit songs.

We were pretty tired that night from a 12+ hour stint at the Convention Centre, so instead of searching from another unique restaurant, we grabbed a few slices of pizza from a nearby Fresh Slice… which was possibly the worst pizza that I’ve ever had in my life. It came out of the ‘hot case’ ice cold, and I’m not overly sure that these doughy pieces of trash were ever blessed by heat.

The third and final day of the expo arrived, and we took it pretty easy this time around. We split up again so Hayley could look at more collectibles and I could yet again flip through longboxes. Being Easter Sunday, the floor wasn’t nearly as busy at this time, so I used the opportunity to go and meet The Walking Dead co-creator and original artist Tony Moore. Being a huge The Walking Dead fan, I obviously love his work, and Tony had for sale a variety of gorgeous TWD and non-TWD prints, and some incredible decked out sketch covers like the one below. I very nearly picked up one of these covers, but it was $600 I thought better put towards my San Diego trip.

I instead picked up a great print (though my first choice was sold out), and also got to grab a quick photo (see below). We chatted about the television series for a few minutes, and essentially agreed on the fact that the show does a lot of things right, but also does a lot of things wrong. He was really nice and approachable, and getting to meet and chat with Tony was probably the highlight of the convention for me.

Aside from looking at a lot of expensive comics that afternoon (I very nearly picked up a 9.9 CGC copy of The Walking Dead #1, but then realized that I just cleared my Visa, and I definitely don’t need to max it out again so soon), we did our rounds a few more times, grabbed some more mini donuts, and checked out more phenomenal cosplay. The show floor closed one last time, so we hopped on a sea plane back to Vancouver Island (which was much bumpier than usual), and went for Easter dinner.

Overall, Fan Expo Vancouver was a stellar and affordable convention, and was an absolutely fan-tastic (ha) time. If you’re anywhere near the west coast of Canada next April, I wouldn’t hesitate to spend my weekend there. I did snap a few cosplay photos (among others) during the weekend, so check those out below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: I’m pretty sure it’s what we were all expecting at this point (unless you were expecting the yet-untitled Man of Steel sequel to simply be called Justice League), but Warner Bros. has just confirmed that Justice League will follow said Man of Steel sequel, and Zack Snyder will return to direct the project.

Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman announced the plans today, stating that “It will be a further expansion of this universe. ‘Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’”

The script is still in the works, and a release date has not been set at this time. Silverman also didn’t state which DC characters aside from Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman will appear in the film (though it’s likely safe to assume that we’ll also see Cyborg, seeing as he’s just been cast).

On a side note, the world has been calling for a standalone Wonder Woman film forever, and Warner Bros. may finally be looking at the opportunity. Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing stated that “With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”

Briefly: What an amazing world we live in.

I remember being little and hearing about the great video game crash of the 1980’s, complete with plenty of rumours that hundreds of thousands of copies of the game that caused it, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, were written off, crushed, and buried in a New Mexico landfill.

Turns out that the rumours were true, and Microsoft just dug them up.

Why Microsoft? Well, they’re prepping a lot of cool sounding original content for the Xbox platform, including a documentary about the video game crash entitled Atari: Game Over. The documentary will premiere exclusively on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One later this year.

Xbox Wire has posted some photos of the dig, and notes that “the findings started out very promising, with an old, dusty Atari 2600 joystick buried in the landfill. Then an “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” cartridge. A box. An instruction manual. And the confirmation of “a lot more down there.”

Amazing, right?

Take a look at the photo below, and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date as we learn more. Did you have a copy of E.T. back in the day, or were you smart enough to avoid it? Sound out below!

Briefly: The short-ass game with a ton of replayability, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is about to get some new content.

At launch, Sony and Microsoft platforms each had an exclusive mission. In celebration of over 1 million copies sold, a new title update will unlock and allow all users to access the Déjà vu and Jamais Vu missions, regardless of the platform you’re playing on!

Originally launched exclusively for PlayStation platforms, the Déjà vu mission, often referred to as a “throwback” mission, is based on missions from the original METAL GEAR SOLID game and lets users play as a pixelated, low polygon Solid Snake. To progress in the mission, players must recreate the key scenes. As a reward, players will see flashbacks to the previous game.

“Jamais Vu”, the Xbox platform exclusive mission, references the 1988 game, “SNATCHER,” the second video game written and directed by Hideo Kojima. In the mission, the menacing bioroid “Snatchers” are dropped into Camp Omega to kill and steal the identities of everything they come in contact with. To kill off these enemies, players need a hero other than Snake—enter Raiden, the superhuman ninja cyborg from previous METAL GEAR titles, including most recently METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE. This time, Raiden dispenses with his High-Frequency Blade in favor of heavy weaponry to completely annihilate the “Snatcher” threat.

Have you picked up the title yet? What are your thoughts on the game? Are you looking forward to another mission? Sound out below!

Briefly: It’s almost, finally, really here.

Godzilla may just be my most anticipated film of the year (those goosebump-inducing trailers have sure helped), and the film (along with its prequel graphic novel) is finally just a couple of weeks away.

Warner Bros. has just released a new featurette for the film, which takes us behind the scenes of the production, and has the cast and crew letting us know just what to expect from the epic-looking picture. They all seem very excited to be a part of it, which can only mean good things for the finished product.

You can take a look at the featurette below, and let us know how excited you are for the film. Godzilla hits theatres on May 16th!

Briefly: I’d barely heard of Richard Linklater’s Boyhood before today. Then, our fearless leader Jonathan said this:

Need I say more? The film looks touching and awe-inspiring, and based solely on the fact that it follows one child from ages 5-18, and the same group of actors for that entire time ,is like nothing that’s ever existed before.

Boyhood hits theatres on July 11th. Take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think.

Richard Linklater’s BOYHOOD — a fictional drama made with the same group of actors over a 12-year period from 2002-2013 — takes a one-of-a-kind trip, at once epic and intimate, through the exhilaration of childhood, the seismic shifts of a modern family and the very passage of time.

The film tracks 6 year-old Mason (Ellar Coltrane) over life’s most radically fluctuating decade, through a familiar whirl of family moves, family controversies, faltering marriages, re-marriages, new schools, first loves, lost loves, good times, scary times and a constantly unfolding mix of heartbreak and wonder. But the results are unpredictable, as one moment braids into the next, entwining into a deeply personal experience of the incidents that shape us as we grow up and the ever-changing nature of our lives.

As the story begins, dreamy-eyed grade-schooler Mason faces upheaval: his devoted, struggling single mom Olivia (Patricia Arquette) has decided to move him and older sister Samantha (Lorelei Linklater) to Houston — just as their long-absent father Mason Sr. (Ethan Hawke) returns from Alaska to re-enter their world. Thus begins life’s non-stop flux. Yet through a tide of parents and stepparents, girls, teachers and bosses, dangers, yearnings and creative passions, Mason emerges to head down his own road.

Briefly: You know that we live in the future when you see a trailer like this. It’s 2014, and here’s the first preview for a campy-as-hell, hilarious looking movie called WolfCop, which is about an alcoholic police officer… that’s also a werewolf.

The film had a huge presence at last weekend’s Fan Expo Vancouver (which you’ll see more coverage on soon), and though I hadn’t heard of it before then, I’m pretty excited for it. The film hits select Cineplex theatres in Canada on June 6th, and the rest of the world will have to wait until September.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

It’s not unusual for alcoholic cop Lou Garou to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings, but lately things have taken a strange turn. Crime scenes seem oddly familiar. Lou’s senses are heightened, and when the full moon is out, he’s a rage-fueled werewolf. WOLFCOP is one cop’s quest to become a better man…one transformation at a time.

Briefly: Netflix made millions of fans very happy last November when they announced that they were resurrecting (again, they also co-produced season 3) The Killing for an abbreviated, 6-episode final season.

Now, they’ve announced just when we’ll be able to watch it.

Here’s the (tiny, footageless) teaser that announces the premiere date:

I’ve loved the series thus far, and am extremely excited that Netflix is making another season. What do you hope to see? Will you be binge-watching on August 1st?

Briefly: We all loved Left 4 Dead, so of course we’re excited for its creator’s next development, Evolve.

The game looks to take the tried-and-true style of Left 4 Dead, but instead of fighting waves and waves (and waves) of infected, you’ll instead be hunting for a fifth player that’s controlling some sort of giant, deadly monster.

A new trailer for the game has just hit the web, and it takes a neat interactive form that lets you switch perspective between the hunters and the monster. Here are the instructions:

Turn Annotations [ON] | The in-game HUD elements like health bars, jetpack meters, and player names have been hidden for this video. You can track Goliath’s health and Hunters’ incap states from the controls at the bottom of the screen. Use the annotations on the same overlay to switch between perspectives in real-time throughout the match.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited for the game. Evolve hits PS3, Xbox One, and PC this Fall!

Briefly: It may look like an homage to The Descent / Catacombs, but Legendary’s As Above, So Below trailer is also pretty creepy.

In the found-footage horror, miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls. When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead. A journey into madness and terror, “As Above, So Below” reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. As Above, So Below hits theatres on August 15th.

Briefly: The cast of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel has grown yet again!

I wasn’t expecting even more heroes to show up in the film, but alas, Cyborg has just been cast. At what point can we call a spade a spade, and say that this is the Justice League movie that everyone’s been waiting for? Could that be exactly why Warner Bros. hasn’t told us the official title yet?

Theatre actor Ray Fisher has been chosen for the role, who was apparently also testing for JJ Abrams for Star Wars Episode VII.

Fisher, of course, joins Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, and more, and the film hits theatres on May 6, 2016.

What do you think of the casting choice? With the amount of heroes we’ll be seeing in the film, can we really call it Man of Steel 2 or Batman vs. Superman? Do you think that Snyder and co. can properly introduce this many characters?

Briefly: Better than than never?

Not everybody (well, not really anybody) loved the film, but did you know that Kick-Ass 2 is also getting a video game?

A new trailer for the 3D beat-em-up has just launched, and though the game boasts a cool cel-shaded artstyle… it doesn’t look great. Take a look at the trailer below, and you’ll see what I mean.

Kick-Ass 2: The Game will launch in May for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Briefly: We’ve been huge fans of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films thus far, and Jackson has just revealed that the third film in the trilogy, originally titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again, has just been retitled.

Here’s the explanation:

Inside Information…

Our journey to make The Hobbit Trilogy has been in some ways like Bilbo’s own, with hidden paths revealing their secrets to us as we’ve gone along. “There and Back Again” felt like the right name for the second of a two film telling of the quest to reclaim Erebor, when Bilbo’s arrival there, and departure, were both contained within the second film. But with three movies, it suddenly felt misplaced—after all, Bilbo has already arrived “there” in the “Desolation of Smaug”.

When we did the premiere trip late last year, I had a quiet conversation with the studio about the idea of revisiting the title. We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate.

And so: “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” it is.

As Professor Tolkien intended, “There and Back Again” encompasses Bilbo’s entire adventure, so don’t be surprised if you see it used on a future box-set of all three movies.

Before then however, we have a film to finish, and much to share with you. It’s been a nice quiet time for us—Jabez and I happily editing away in a dark cave in Wellington—but those halcyon days are quickly coming to an end. It will soon be time to step into the light. Expect to see and hear much about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in the coming months.

And there’s also The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Cut, which we’re in the process of finishing, with over 25 mins of new scenes, all scored with original music composed by Howard Shore.

It’ll be a fun year!

Makes sense, doesn’t it? Are you looking forward to the trilogy’s completion? The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits theatres on December 17th!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Briefly: After what seems like forever, Watch Dogs is finally just a month away from release.

Ubisoft has just launched an eight-minute multiplayer walkthrough for the title, which showcases some fantastic cat and mouse gameplay. According to the description, in “Watch Dogs’ groundbreaking multiplayer modes where everything and everyone is connected. Learn how Watch Dogs is blurring the line between single and multiplayer, and get a glimpse into three distinct and exciting modes including Online Hacking Contracts, ctOS – Mobile Companion App, and Competitive Decryption Combat.”

The game looks like a lot of fun, and as I’ve definitely been looking for something new to play on my PS4, I can’t wait to pick this one up. Watch Dogs was my “must have” title for the PS4 launch before it was delayed, so I sure hope that it’s worth the wait.

World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide author Max Brooks has another project being adapted for the small screen.

Legendary Television has optioned Brooks’ comic Extinction Parade for series, and Brooks himself will write the pilot episode.

Brooks states that “I only brought the idea to one company, Legendary, because they do the kind of quality work of which any writer would be proud. While the comic series from Avatar continues, I am thrilled to be working with Legendary to develop Extinction Parade into an innovative new series for television.”

“Max Brooks is a visionary with an incredible ability to tell stories that deliver a fresh approach to the horrors that haunt our nightmares,” Publisher of Avatar Press William Christensen added. “His work on Extinction Parade has been a stunningly rich tapestry of cultures in decline and a biting indictment of the perils of privilege. It will make the perfect television series to appeal to fans who have until now settled for thinly veiled soap operas parading as horror.”

The official series description reads that “In a world where the zombie plague has put the human race on the endangered species list, another predatory undead species realizes that to stand by idly means the end of their food supply. Vastly outnumbered by the zombie hordes, vampires descend into all-out subdead war, with humanity caught in the crossfire.”

Briefly: The first set photos from Jurassic World are here, and they’re already looking better than the entirety of Jurassic Park 3.

The images come care of EW, and show Bryce Dallas-Howards’ character, as well as a damaged Jeep, and a Jurassic World chair in what looks like a gorgeous Hawaiian landscape.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, BD Wong, Irrfan Khan, David Oyelowo, Omar Sy, and more, and will hit theatres in June 2015. Take a look at the images below, and let us know what you think!

Following the eight new stills that debuted at the end of March, a 60-second new trailer has just been released for this Summer’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

The video is full of new footage, and definitely gives us another great look at the film’s all-star cast (is it just me, or does Jessica Alba look just as good as she did back in 2005). I still remember being a 15 year old kid, absolutely falling in love with the first film, and being so excited when it was announced that a sequel would be put on the fast track. Now, it’s 9 years later, and it still hasn’t released. But it’s coming, and soon!

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Sin City: A Dame To Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd!

Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the screen in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is the follow up to Rodriguez and Miller’s 2005 groundbreaking film, FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY.

Briefly: The Xbox One launched in North America (to much fanfare) all the way back in November 2013 (along with 22 other countries). Japan, unfortunately, was not one of those territories, but we now know just when Microsoft’s big black box will launch in the land of the rising sun.

Xbox Japan today tweeted the release date, which falls on September 4th, 2014. It’s crazy to think that the console won’t launch there until it’s been available in other territories for over a year, but that’s probably a testament to how poorly Microsoft’s consoles have performed in the country in the past. There’s still plenty of demand elsewhere, so why focus on a country where there isn’t any?

Have you picked up an Xbox One yet? What games are you playing at this time? I still can’t stop playing Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.
