Briefly: Just yesterday, Robert Downey Jr. surprised us with the first official set photo from The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now, Mark Ruffalo has given us another look… and Marvel doesn’t seem too happy about it.

Here’s how things went down:

Ruffalo then apologized, which didn’t seem to phase the studio (well, maybe a little):

In any case, it was a cute exchange, and we sure hope that these set photos continue. None of the images have been overly exciting (thus far), but we’ll take what we can get!

Briefly: It’s not as exciting as the post-credits Captain America: The Winter Soldier tag, but it’s something.

Robert Downey Jr. has just debuted the first official set photo from the production of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Downey and executive producer Jeremy Latcham are shown wearing reflective vests, so it’s quite possible that they’re standing amidst some set construction.

You can take a look at the image below, and be sure to let us know what you’re looking forward to most in the film. The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015.

Briefly: If you weren’t already aware, an animated Chew adaptation is incoming, and it just got two stars!

Torchwood: Web of Lies and Peter Panzerfaust (animated) director Jeff Krelitz will direct the adaptation, which is scripted by Chew co-creator John Layman.

The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yuen is set to voice the titular character, Tony Chew, while The Guild’s Felicia Day will voice Amelia Mintz, a food critic and Chew’s love interest.

Here’s the comic’s description:

Tony Chu is a cop with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. It’s a dirty job, and Tony has to eat terrible things in the name of justice. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the government has figured out Tony Chu’s secret. They have plans for him, whether he likes it or not. Presenting a twisted new series about cops, crooks, cooks, cannibals and clairvoyants, written by John Layman (Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness, House of M: Fantastic Four and Puffed) with mind-blowing art by astonishing comics newcomer Rob Guillory.

It should be a neat adaptation, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more! Fans, what do you think of the casting news?

Briefly: Since the Wii U’s announcement, fans of Koei Tecmo’s Fatal Frame series have been very vocal in their wishes for the series to appear on the console… now it appears that they may just get that wish.

Famitsu is reporting that Nintendo and Koei Tecmo are developing the next iteration of the beloved series.

No title, release date, or other information was given, but the article also notes a planned expansion of the series into film and comic books.

It’s been years since I’ve played the series, but I have to say that I’d be absolutely terrified to hold up the Wii U’s gamepad as the Camera Obscura. How about you?

Briefly: The long rumoured episode was finally confirmed almost a year ago, and now it’s ready for US audiences. The final episode of The IT Crowd has just launched exclusively (in the US) on Hulu.

“The Internet Is Coming” is the first, last and only episode in the fifth season of The IT Crowd, reuniting actors Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Richard Ayoade (The Watch) and Katherine Parkinson (Sherlock) for one final visit to Reynholm Industries.

In typical IT Crowd fashion, what begins as a seemingly ordinary day in the lowest bowels of a massive office building winds up being anything but. By the end of the 46-minute episode, Roy and Jen find themselves on the run what could well be the entire world, while Moss discovers an unexpected source of long-sought self-confidence.

At breakneck speed, the episode manages to reference Game of Thrones, V for Vendetta, Superman, Daniel Clowes’ “Pussey!” and a host of other pop-culture icons, while still delivering tear-inducing laughter even to those who are new to the series. Longtime fans will also delight in the return of Noel Fielding’s Richmond.

The show is an absolute blast no matter what you do, but after working for years in IT, you’ll have a much stronger appreciation for it. It’s a perfect representation of the things that you go through every single day.

Take a look at a few clips from the episode below, and let us know what you think of the series. Head here to watch the final episode.

Briefly: Machinima is at it again, this time with a hilarious unscripted series called AFK.

According to the show’s description, “Pulling the world’s greatest gamers away from the keyboard to find out how they will fare in a real-life demolition derby or roller derby bootcamp is no easy task. That is exactly what Machinima, in association with GEICO, has done in the first-ever original travel competition starring some of the biggest YouTube gaming influencers”

Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Hosted by Bruce Greene, host and producer of Machinima’s INSIDE GAMING, one of YouTube’s most popular daily gaming news shows, the first season of AFK brings the Minecraft Universe center stage as YouTube Minecraft Legends MINECRAFTUNIVERSE and Jerome ASF battle each other in a wide range of events including competing in a real-life demolition derby in Dallas, TX, battling it out for Supremacy in a GTA 5 flash-gaming challenge, a Trials Evolution flash-gaming challenge, and a real-life roller derby bootcamp in Austin, TX.

There are three seasons of AFK currently in the works, so if you like what you see here, there’s plenty more coming down the pipeline. Take a look at the series’ first episode below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: This is news that we’ve been waiting for forever.

At WonderCon this weekend, Revolution showrunner and Farscape creator Rockne S. O’Bannon let slip that a new Farscape movie is early in development.

“We are, in fact, in the script stage of a Farscape feature,” O’Bannon announced to a full house. “[We’re] still in early, early stages.”

Farscape originally ran on Syfy from 1999 to 2004. It’s also how Geekscape got its name, so you know that we’re damned excited. What would you like to see from a Farscape film?

Briefly: It’s almost here!

A fourth season of Falling Skies was confirmed all the way back in July 2013, and now we’re just a couple of months away from its premiere.

TNT has just released a new trailer for the upcoming season… and since I’m not caught up, I turned it off pretty quickly. What I saw, however, was great, and I really can’t wait to see the new episodes.

Take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you’ve thought of the series so far. Falling Skies premieres on June 22nd.

Briefly: Just last week it was revealed that Paul Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody would help to finish Walker’s iconic role in the seventh Fast & Furious film, and today costar Vin Diesel released the first photo of the brothers on set.

Here’s what Diesel had to say about the opportunity:

When I heard the news, I left the production, grabbed a plane and took my family and Michelle back to LA… drove directly to his parent’s house…

His Father said, Paul loved you Vin… I awkwardly and nervously said, aw come on… then he said… you don’t have to get along every second to love each other… so true.

P.s. After spending time with his biological brothers, I must say to the parents, you raised some great kids.

And here’s Vin with the brothers. What would you like to see happen to Walker’s character in the film? Fast & Furious 7 hits theatres on April 10th, 2015.

Briefly: Showtime has just released a new teaser for their upcoming horror/drama series, Penny Dreadful.

In Penny Dreadful, some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters – including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula – have become embroiled in Victorian London. The series is a frightening psychosexual thriller created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) and executive produced by Logan’s Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road), both of Neal Street.

The series is set to premiere on May 11th, so for now, take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be tuning in!

Briefly: Mondo has just announced a new show with some fantastic artwork by Mike Mitchell.

The show will run from April 25th through May 17th, and will feature a multitude of Mitchell’s iconic portraits. Characters from The Avengers, X-Men and Spider-man will be represented along with many others from Marvel’s incredible library.

Mitchell said that “My love for Marvel Comics was an integral part of growing up. Not just the comics, but the action figures, video games and cartoons. My intention with this show was to take those characters out of their action-oriented world and give them a moment of silence to catch their breath. There’s a humanizing quality to that which I find extremely interesting. This has easily been the most ambitious project I’ve ever taken on, and it’s due in part to my love for their universe; which is fictional by definition, but real in my mind and in the minds of others.”

Take a look at just a few of the show’s portraits below (plus the giant MODOK outside the showroom), and let us know if you’ll be checking it out in person!

Briefly: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been delayed on Xbox One.

The rumour first broke when NeoGAF noted that the Xbox One version had completely disappeared from the game’s official site official site. Now, Activision has released an official statement:

“We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One. Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC on April 29, 2014 as previously announced.”

It’s a very strange postponement. With the game’s launch less than two weeks away, shouldn’t The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have gone gold some time ago?

In any case, if you’re wanting to pick up Beenox’s latest tie in, you’ll have to grab it for a different console, at least for now. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear more!

Briefly: I’ve been (casually) playing Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft since the free-to-play title soft-launched on the Canadian App Store a couple of weeks back, but I’m happy to say that the game is now, finally available for iPad worldwide.

The game is very well designed, and definitely at home on the iPad’s screen. It even features cross-platform multiplayer, so you’re really not missing anything by playing it on your tablet (I’d argue that it feels even better, actually). I’ve been having a blast with it, and it’s definitely a title that I’d recommend checking out (especially since, again, you can play for free).

You can download Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft for your iPad right here.

Briefly: Sony last gave us an update on the PS4’s cumulative all the way back in February, when the console had surpassed 5.3 million units just before the device’s Japanese launch.

Today, the company revealed the latest numbers with the following blog post:

Hi guys! I’ve got a quick update to share with you. Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. just announced that PS4 has cumulatively sold through more than 7.0 million units globally as of April 6th, 2014. PS4 software sales are another bright spot, with more than 20.5 million copies sold at retail and PlayStation Store worldwide as of April 13th, 2014.

On behalf of the entire global team at PlayStation, I want to thank you for your unprecedented support and for making PS4 your next-generation console of choice. We couldn’t have done this without you! And please keep the feedback coming: we are listening.

On that note, we’ll have some great new details to share with you regarding our upcoming PS4 system software update very soon. Stay tuned!

That’s a lot of units.

Have you picked up a system yet? Are you planning on it? Aside from release night (which is when I picked up mine), I’ve actually never seen a PS4 on a shore shelf!

Sony has also previewed the main new feature in the console’s next firmware update, which actually looks really cool if you’re into sharing stuff. Check it out below.

Briefly: Following the fantastic final trailer for the film, Fox today debuted FIVE (yes, you read that right) featurettes for the highly anticipated film.

Each featurette, of course, provides us with some great behind-the-scenes insight, and also shows off some new footage. We’re really excited for the full feature, so each of these short videos is definitely worth the watch.

Take a look at all five below, and let us know what you’re looking forward to seeing in the film! X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres on May 22nd!

Briefly: NBC announced just last week that their Rosemary’s Baby reboot/miniseries would be premiering on May 11th, and the network has now debuted the project’s first trailer.

The two-part miniseries is an adaptation of Ira Levin’s 1967 novel, which was first adapted just one year later in 1968. I’m not overly familiar with the source material (both the book and the film), but I’m definitely a fan of the stellar cast that NBC has put together here, including Suits star Patrick J. Adams, Star Trek‘s Zoe Saldana, Christina Cole, Jason Isaacs, and more.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know of you’ll be watching. The first half of Rosemary’s Baby will debut on May 11th, while the second half will air on May 15th.

http://youtu.be/-r5Pl7RrjHA

This new adaptation of “Rosemary’s Baby” centers on a young married couple who escapes New York and moves to Paris with hopes of leaving their sad past behind. After a series of unfortunate events, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse are presented with an offer they can’t refuse — an apartment at the most prestigious address in the city. Problem is, it comes with a haunted past and an immeasurable price …

Briefly: WonderCon’s coming up (just two more days away, yes!) and we couldn’t be more excited to partake in the convention yet again.

As always, Geekscape’s got its own booth (#208 this year), so please, please, come hang out, say hello, pick up a t-shirt, give is your best Hail Hydra, or at least take a look at Shane’s Rarity cosplay (it’ll be there in full force).

We have a few sweet, sweet guests stopping by for signings, like Ben 10‘s Yuri Lowenthal and his wife (and again, Ben 10 star) Tara Platt on Friday from 1-2 PM, and The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? director Jon Schnepp on Saturday from 2-5.

Also Friday from 1-2PM, Jonathan can be found at the Lion Forge Comics booth (#801), signing Miami Vice posters with artist Carl Reed. Speaking of Lion Forge comics, Jonathan’s also a part of the Lion Forge panel on Saturday from 11AM-12PM in room 210A. These panels are always fantastic, and Saved By The Bell‘s Dennis Haskins will host!

We’re looking forward to the weekend, and we’re looking forward to seeing you! Take a look at the video below to learn more of what we’ll be up to at the convention!

Following the ‘Garden Variety’ DLC that was released back in March, PopCap Games has just launched the second free (yep, FREE) DLC pack for the amazing Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

The new pack is called ‘Zomboss Down’, and features one new map, and a ton of new customizations for both the plants and the zombies.

Here’s the official description of the DLC from PopCap’s blog:

The plants just blasted down the Zomboss blimp! The zombies are now roaming the desert and battling their way to a local golf course, which may just be a secret facility housing a Cactus army. It can all be found in the free Zomboss Down downloadable game pack, featuring the new Cactus Canyon Gardens & Graveyards Map, 8 new playable characters, over 200 wild customization items, an increased Level cap for each character, and all-new challenges to accomplish. Available for both Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare has definitely been my most played title between my PS4 and Xbox One, and I can’t wait to try out this new content. Take a look at the ‘Zomboss Down’ trailer below, and let us know what you think of the game!

Briefly: We showed you the first clip from Bryan Singer’s anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past just a few days back, and as previously announced, the epic final trailer for the film has just made its way online.

I won’t spoil things for you… but it’s pretty great. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you’re looking forward to seeing in the full feature! X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres on May 22nd!

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Briefly: WGN America (who is also developing a series based on Vertigo’s Scalped comic) has just debuted a full trailer for their upcoming horror/drama series Salem.

Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, SALEM explores what really fueled the town’s infamous witch trials and dares to uncover the dark, supernatural truth hiding behind the veil of this infamous period in American history. In SALEM, witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem. The show, which centers on an epic romance wrapped around this explosive revelation, delivers a bold new vision of Salem — and an even bolder new vision of witches.

It certainly sounds intriguing, and it’s a series that I’d never heard of until today. You can take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be tuning in when the show premieres this Sunday.

Briefly: Ever since Paul Walker’s tragic death last November, fans have wondered just how The Fast and the Furious series would continue.

Today, the film’s official Facebook page revealed that most of Paul’s scenes in the film had already been completed, and that Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, would be stepping in to film the remaining scenes.

Here’s the full announcement:

The FAST & FURIOUS saga is about family. The characters are connected by the bond of family, and it is how all of us who have worked together for more than thirteen years feel about each other. It certainly defines how we feel about our fans.

Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film.

We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue. We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career.

We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.

We are just under a year away from the release of FAST & FURIOUS 7, and this film is the most important we’ve ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role.

We wanted to take a moment to speak to our fans directly and thank you for the love and support you always show us as we resume our work.

It must be tough to be on that set right now. What do you think of the news? In any case, Fast & Furious 7 hits theatres on April 10th, 2015.

Briefly: Another comic book is headed to the small screen.

THR has learned that Jason Aaron and R.M. Guerra’s Vertigo series Scalped is in development at WGN America. Banshee‘s Doug Jung will executive produce and write the pilot’s script.

The book’s synopsis states that Scalped is “an intense crime drama that mixes organized crime with current Native Americanculture. Fifteen years ago, Dashiell “Dash” Bad Horse ran away from a life of abjectpoverty and utter hopelessness on the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation inhopes of finding something better. Now he’s come back home armed withnothing but a set of nunchucks, a hell-bent-for-leather attitude and onedark secret, to find nothing much has changed on “The Rez” — short of aglimmering new casino, and a once-proud people overcome by drugs andorganized crime. Is he here to set things right or just get a piece of the action?” The series is in part inspired by Native American activist Leonard Peltier, who killed two FBI agents in a 1975 reservation shootout.

Are you a fan of the book? It certainly sounds like darker subject matter than we typically see in comic book TV. Would you watch the series? Sound out below!

Briefly: Fincher’s back, baby.

The first trailer for his upcoming drama Gone Girl has just hit the internet, and it’s gorgeous, gripping, and looks to be an absolutely heartwrenching feature. The film is based on the 2012 bestseller by Gillian Flynn. Here’s the synopsis:

On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

The film looks very intriguing, and as beautifully shot as always. It was also revealed today that Fincher won’t take the reigns of the Aaron Sorkin written Steve Jobs biopic, which is certainly unfortunate.

In any case, take a look at the Gone Girl trailer below, and let us know what you think. The film hits theatres on October 3rd.

Briefly: Legendary and Warner Bros. today unleashed a gorgeous new Godzilla poster, this time paying homage to classic Godzilla art and one-sheets.

Those of you lucky enough to be headed to WonderCon this weekend will even have an opportunity to obtain one, as the following was revealed on the official Godzilla Facebook page:

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

HBO today released a new teaser for its upcoming series The Leftovers, which is based on a rapture novel by Tom Perrotta and will also act as Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof’s return to TV (Lost’s other showrunner, Carlton Cuse, has already returned with the fantastic Bates Motel).

The teaser begins calmly enough, with a soothing voiceover describing that “there is no death” in allusion to millions of people that suddenly disappeared… but things go south pretty quickly.

Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know if you’ll be taking a look at the series when it premieres on June 15th.

When 2% of the world’s population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to understand just what they’re supposed to do about it. Three years later, the new HBO drama series THE LEFTOVERS is the story of the people who didn’t make the cut.

Briefly: Following the film’s first trailer from just a couple of weeks back, IGN has just debuted the first TV spot for Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The spot clocks in at just 30 seconds long, but it gives us our first look at Splinter (from the back, anyways), and we can also see what looks to be William Fichtner’s Shredder standing in the background.

In any case, take a look at the spot below, and let us know what you think. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theatres on August 8th.

Briefly: I can’t actually watch the clip that I’m about to share since I don’t live in the USA, but I hear that it’s pretty fantastic.

Supposedly, it’s an extended clip showing off the opening battle of the film that just debuted at the MTV Movie Awards. USA residents, watch it below, and I’ll update with a global link as soon as one is available!

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres on May 23rd!

Edit: ComicBookMovie has the worldwide link… and it’s awesome. Take a look below!

Briefly: Here’s a neat short film project that definitely sounds worthy of some support!

Right from Sheltered‘s IndieGoGo campaign, the project descries itself as “the story of Cody and Sam who have ended up at the LGBT homeless shelter for completely different things, but in the end they are able to seek comfort in each other in the attempt to overcome their problems.

The story focuses on how the characters ended up where they are today, told via flashback. It really gets down to the nitty gritty and focuses on some very real issues that are occurring today for the LGBT youth.

It’s an important message that has been kept hidden from a lot of people and we are hoping with this film we can shed some light on this situation and make a change or at least push progress in the right direction, and we can do that with your help!”

Sheltered hold an extremely intriguing theme that many (including myself, being from a small city in Canada) won’t be overly familiar with. Its also this important, affecting subject matter that makes Sheltered so worthy of support. This short sounds like something we’ve never seen before.

The team is looking to raise $11,000 by May 17th to complete the film. Here’s the breakdown of where each dollar will go:

$3,000 – Renting Arri Alexa Camera and Lenses
$3,000 – For locations, permits, and insurance
$1,500 – Art, props, wardrobe, and set dressing
$1,500 – Grip and Lighting equipment
$500 – Sound Equipment
$1,500 – Trucks, Production supplies, and remaining misc.

Being a short film with such an important message, here is what the creative minds behind Sheltered are hoping that the film will accomplish:

-By gaining exposure for the film, we are able to send out the message about LGBT homeless youth and attempt to make a difference.

-After it has completed the film festival circuit we will look into various distribution methods to continue spreading the message.

-Media is one of the largest ways to reach a mass audience.

-Together we can hopefully make a difference with a beautiful film.

As always, there are plenty of worthy rewards up for grabs if you back the project, including signed scripts, your name in the credits, DVD’s, tickets to film festivals, and more. Again, Sheltered definitely looks to be worth the support, so check out the film’s campaign video below, and head here to back the project.

Briefly: Following the film’s first clip from just a few days back, Marvel has debuted three behind-the-scenes stills from this Summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Briefly: We’re just a few weeks away from the highly anticipated release of Gareth Edwards Godzilla, and Warner Bros. has just debuted a pair of new featurettes that have Edwards talking about his beginnings, and just how excited he was to get the Godzilla call.

Take a look at the featurettes below, check out how much fun we had at the Godzilla Encounter last Comic-Con, and let us know if you’re excited for the film!
