We’ve been teased and told all about the upcoming fourth title in the Doom series. Doom 4 is well… going to be called DOOM. Creative right?

Well Bethesda has been advertising and teasing their E3 press conference for a few months now. They promised HUGE surprises, and most people started hoping and praying for Fallout 4. So when I heard about this DOOM  announcement I was a little surprised. Then I heard there was a teaser trailer! Then I was let down by how brief it is.

The Bethesda E3 showcase can be seen live, Sunday June 14th at 7 PM PST. You can be sure that Geekscape will have you covered if you can’t make it live!

Video game film adaptations have been, at least in the last ten years, have been met with trepidation. Gamer’s have a somewhat awkward stance to take. One one hand we want to see our favorite properties adapted into another medium, and on the other hand we don’t want Uwe Boll (full disclosure, I love Uwe Boll but the comedic balance needs to be met in my posts). Ever since the Warcraft film was announced way back in 2006, and filming didn’t even start til 2014, the community has been flip flopping on excitement.

One of the biggest worries was how dependent on after effects the film would rely on. Well today we got ourselves a little tease of what one of the main characters, Orgrim Doomhammer, will look like in the upcoming epic, and this geek is frankly excited for the CG Orc!

Warcraft-Orgrim

Warcraft-Orgrim-2

Orgrim Doomhammer is going to be played by Robert Kazinsky (I had to look him up too, Pacific Rim apparently). Director Duncan Jones was quoted in a Wired Magazine interview saying:

We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character.

The Warcraft movie is set to hit theaters (pending anymore push backs) June 10th 2016!

2015 has been a fucking roller coaster of emotions when it comes to video game releases. We’ve gotten projects pushed back, projects getting nerfed and EA and Konami on par with customer service. It looks like our worst fears have been confirmed.

With Hideo Kojima’s recent removal on a few projects after his “departure” from Konami, the only thing on our minds was

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO PT AND SILENT HILLS?!?!

Last night we had confirmation that the PT demo was going to be removed from the PSN store, and now a Tweet circulating the web has confirmed out greatest fears.

This Tweet comes from Del Toro’s panel at the San Francisco International Film Festival. Now this was all just speculation, but looks like Norman Reedus is parroting the same narrative.

Not much else to say, except…I’m fucking sad as hell. We need to put our own Derek Kraneveldt on suicide watch!

I’ll be honest. I haven’t been following the new Mad Max game OR movie. I know they exist, and the movie trailer looks badass but that is pretty much it. Heck, I have the issue of Gameinformer with Mad Max on the cover as my mousepad at work and it’s never been opened! (That may be more of an issue with Gameinformer magazine than Mad Max.)

So when I saw this Gameplay Overview trailer come across my digital desk, I wasn’t too interested. BOY WAS I WRONG!

The trailer provides a glimpse into the desperate struggle Max faces after losing it all – his family, his car, his sanity – and the steps he must take to survive in the harsh and desolate Wasteland. For the first time, players get an extended look at the deep car customization, metal grinding vehicular combat, brutal melee combat and a wide range of other activities they can engage in during their quest to build the ultimate survival vehicle, the Magnum Opus, and find solace in the Plains of Silence. All footage in the trailer is in-engine, comprised of actual game play and in-game cinematics.

This looks to be one of those rare few movie tie in games that turn out pretty good. Anyone remember that Wolverine game that was better than the movie? I sure a fuck do.

This trailer has changed my mind on the subject. The world looks gorgeous. The crafting system sounds badass, and I love a game where you start from nothing.

Mad Max hits North America on September 1st. You can pick it up on Xbox One, PS4, PC and…Linux? Yeah, Linux!

Can’t really say I’m surprised about this one. The hugely popular Netflix original series, Daredevil , is getting greenlit for a second season.

After only 11 days from it’s premiere, Netflix saw the overwhelming success and decided to fund the next installment, with some crew changes. Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampie Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) are now on board as LEAD showrunners with the project.

Rumor has it that production may start as early as July which moves it parallel with Luke Cage and ahead of Iron Fist and Defenders.

Looks like ABC and Marvel want to keep the Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. money train a going.

Deadline reported just moments ago that the spinoff series will star Adrianne Palicki & Nick Blood. They will be reprising their repsective roles as Mockingbird and Lance Hunter.

According to Deadline, the spinoff series will be setup by events in the current season of Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s still speculation whether it has anything to do with the teased hidden plot we’ve been given.

More details will be released once a script has been given as ABC says they will not be giving a greenlight until they have one in hand.

What are you thoughts on this possible spinoff series? Do you think Marvel is fragmenting their universe too much or spreading their creative talent too thin with all of these projects? We’d love to hear your opinion!

HOLY CRAP FOLKS! Blizzards take on the MOBA is ALMOST HERE! Heroes of The Storm is only a few months away!

Announced today on their official blog, Blizzard bears it all.

Heroes of the Storm will launch with more than 30 playable Heroes, over 130 Skins, 14 steadfast mounts, and 7 dynamic Battlegrounds, each with unique challenges to overcome—and even more Heroes, Skins, Mounts, and Battlegrounds are on the way! Over the last year we’ve also implemented over 430 different color Tints across our Heroes, Skins, and Mounts to help you customize your look so you can brawl in style. These color options will continue to be unlockable for free as you play your Heroes and seek to master them on field of battle. Rest assured that we’ll have even more exciting Heroes developments in the coming months.

I for one, am extremely excited for this title. I’m not a HUGE fan of MOBA’s, but respect the genre and its popularity. It’s a game of skill, where the players ability shines through. I equate games like LoL and DOTA 2 to that of Counter-Strike. The best part of Heroes of The Storm  is the crossovers! Who doesn’t love a good crossover?!

It looks like Capcom just wants more of my money. The next in the Monster Hunter series looks fucking adorable, and appears to take the franchise in a new direction.

At a recent Monster Hunter event, the games producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, explained what the heck this is all about.

After having passed the 10th anniversary last year, this is a new challenge for the Monster Hunter series, that we’ve began designing since about five years ago, while staying true to the world of Monster Hunter, and a story that can only be told through an RPG, we’d like to pack it with fun and enjoyment that we can’t even begin to describe with words.

Tsujimoto explained that players will take up the role of “Riders” and not hunters, he did not explain further what the gameplay would be like.

Monster Hunter: Stories is slated to be released in Japan sometime in 2016, and there is no current plans for a North America release.

True Detective is arguably one of the best television programs on the air right now. It’s short, eight episode, first season kept fans of the show begging for more. WELL FOLKS, here is a little tiny teaser for you!

Season Two airs June 21st on HBO, and stars Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch.

Just like the name implies, Spectre  moves about the shadows. Quietly and quickly they struck, with this awesome teaser trailer!

I am, and always will be, a HUGE James Bond fan. Much to the chagrin of our fearless leader Jonathan London, the James Bond formula is ALWAYS fun. I am very excited to see Sam Mendes’ modern take on the SPECTRE organization.

James Bond 007: Spectre stars The Aston Martin DB10 Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes. It hits theaters November 6th!

What an amazing way to start a weekend! Eiji Aonuma, director of Legend of Zelda Wii U, just released the video that pretty much ruins 2015 for a lot of gamers.

https://youtu.be/7y1VKSVeGD0

I still appreciate that they want to make the game the way they want, and not rush to make release dates. (We touch on this subject in Level 22 of the Geekscape Games Podcast) This news alone wouldn’t be world ending, but we got ourselves handed a one two punch of bad Zelda news. Just, read this tweet and shed a single tear.

March 27th 2015 will forever be known as Zelda Black Friday.

After more than a decade of being off the air, and an official “Season 10” comic book, it looks like our beloved Mulder and Scully are back!

Confirmed TODAY, Fox is going to bring back the cult classic show for a limited six episode run. Principle filming will begin this summer, and there is no confirmed air date yet.

This continues the trend of networks renewing cult favorite shows. Arrested Development, 24, and most recently Twin Peaks. It looks like studios are running out of original ideas, and if seeing beloved old characters returning to TV is the outcome? Fuck it, quick making new properties!

Whenever I get the opportunity to talk X-Files I have to bring up my absolute FAVORITE episode. Season 7, Episode 12 – X-Cops. Its an episode of COPS that runs into Mulder and Scully. An absolute must watch.

Stay with us here at Geekscape for any and all new info as it get’s released.

Way back in the beginning of February we talked about the rumors floating around about Netflix doing a live action Legend of Zelda show in the style of Game of Thrones. WELL, turns out the rumors were faker than Kim Kardashian.

In an interview with TIME magazine, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata put the rumors to rest.

As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information.

Looks like we’re stuck with the cartoon from the 80’s. You know our writer Juan Carlos is going to be disappointed.

Looks like the Mega64 boyz have done it again. After a six week drought in sick vids, we got a slurry of great skits. Today we were gifted with this hilarious Shadow of Mordor video.

They’ve really captured the look and feel of the game, you know minus the cars and tourists. Credit where credit is due, Garrett Hunter (the team’s effect artist), really outdid himself on the costumes for this one.

For more Mega64, check out their official website AND the Sub-Reddit.

Looks like the latest trend in marketing is the “Trailer for a Trailer”, as we can plainly see in this teaser for Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation.

IMF agent Ethan Hunt is tracked down by The Syndicate, a highly trained organization of rogue assassins that kill on order. With the help of his colleagues, he plans to bring The Syndicate down by any means necessary.

You can peep the full length trailer, TOMORROW! You can get your eyes on the film Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation July 31st!

I’ve always have been a fan of the Final Fantasy series, but haven’t played enough due to my allegiance to Nintendo growing up. Now that I gots me a PS4 I’m ready for Final Fantasy XV, and holy shit! After seeing this gameplay footage of what the summons are going to look like…I literally can’t even right now.

We’ll have to wait for a bit more, as the release date is still in the perpetual “COMING SOON” state.

Final Fantasy XV will be on the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Looks like we ran the karma tap dry. With yesterdays GTA and Zoolander news, we were BOUND to get something bad. Looks like Nathan Drake won’t be returning as soon as we thought. Uncharted 4 has been pushed back to 2016!

In an open letter from the games directors, we’ve been told that the game’s original release schedule isn’t going to be met.

So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.

This is going to be my first Uncharted game, since I’ve only recently jumped into the Sony ecosystem. I am very glad that they’re going to take their time!

In another instance of ABOUT DAMN TIME, we just got this amazing announcement for Zoolander 2! Zoolander himself appeared, alongside Hansel, on the catwalk at the Valentino Fashion show. What happened next was pretty damn awesome.

All this is fine and dandy, but you’re really interested in the date for the extremely anticipated sequel to the 2001 comedy classic. Well, you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer.

Zoolander 2 will hit theaters February 12th 2016!

WHOA DAMN SON! Surreptitiously, under the protection of night, Rockstar has pushed out the GTA Online Heist update! After over 18 Months of perpetual teasing, we can finally play!

Plan, Prepare, Execute – Online Heists span numerous missions featuring new gameplay, vehicles, weapons, and scenarios to test a team’s full set of skills: from computer hacking to stealth infiltration, precision driving to aerial dogfighting, sniping, skydiving and much more.

4-Player Teams, 4 Ways to Play – Choose your roles and strategize to complete each stage of a Heist, with tight communication and coordination the key to success. Some missions will require the team to work as a single unit, while others will break the team into separate roles to complete key objectives. Replay each Heist to experience a different perspective on the action, and complete Elite Challenges for extra cash.

Additional New Adversary Modes – Brings new kinds of competition to GTA Online while new Daily Objectives and other Freemode activities bring chaos to the streets of Los Santos and Blaine County.

Assemble Your Team – Create a Crew or join existing Crews at the Rockstar Games Social Club to earn additional RP rewards as you play.

The update started to push out this morning for PS4 and Xbox One users, and should have already started automatically if you have the auto update feature on. PS3 and Xbox 360 users will have to manually update the title Heists will also arrive on launch for PC users on April 14th.

So Geekscapists, fire up your consoles and hit up Los Santos. It’s going to get crazy.

This year’s GDC was going to be an exciting one. With Valve making a very large up front announcement that they were going to be having a press conference full of content (It was today, 3/3/2015. I guess they CAN count to three.). Well we have an official press release from the company that outlines some VERY exciting products from Valve. The most exciting (for me anyway) is the announcement of the Source 2 engine!

“We continue to see very strong growth in PC Gaming, with Steam growing 50% in the last 12 months,” said Gabe Newell, Valve’s president. “With these announcements we hope that we are helping build on that momentum.”

Steam Machines, Windows PCs, Macs, and Linux PCs will be able to take advantage of a new product announced at GDC called Steam Link. Designed to extend your Steam experience to any room in the house, Steam Link allows you to stream all your Steam content from any PC or Steam Machine on the same home network. Supporting 1080p at 60Hz with low latency, Steam Link will be available this November for $49.99, and available with a Steam Controller for an additional $49.99 in the US (worldwide pricing to be released closer to launch).

Steam Machines from partners Alienware and Falcon Northwest are being shown, with Machines from a dozen other partners slated to release this November. Steam Machines will start at the same price point as game consoles, with higher performance. Customers interested in the best possible gaming experience can choose whichever components meet their needs. Epic will give a demonstration of the newly announced Unreal Tournament running on a 4K monitor driven by the Falcon Northwest Steam Machine. “We love this platform,” said Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games. “Whether you’re running incredibly detailed scenes at 4K or running 1080p at 120 FPS for an intense shooter experience, this brings world-class gaming and graphics to televisions with an open platform true to Valve’s PC gaming roots.”

Valve will show a virtual reality (VR) headset. Developer versions of the headset will be available this spring, and partner HTC will ship their Vive headset to consumers by the end of the year.

Two new technologies are part of the VR release – a room scale tracking system codenamed Lighthouse, and a VR input system. “In order to have a high quality VR experience, you need high resolution, high speed tracking,” said Valve’s Alan Yates. “Lighthouse gives us the ability to do this for an arbitrary number of targets at a low enough BOM cost that it can be incorporated into TVs, monitors, headsets, input devices, or mobile devices.” Valve intends to make Lighthouse freely available to any hardware manufacturers interested in the technology.

“Now that we have Lighthouse, we have an important piece of the puzzle for tackling VR input devices,” said Valve’s Joe Ludwig. “The work on the Steam Controller gave us the base to build upon, so now we have touch and motion as integrated parts of the PC gaming experience.”

“We’ve been working in VR for years and it was only until we used SteamVR’s controllers and experienced the magic of absolute tracking that we were able to make the VR game we always wanted to make,” said Alex Schwartz of Owlchemylabs.

VR demos being shown at GDC include work from Bossa Studios, Cloudhead Games, Dovetail Games, Fireproof Studios, Google, Owlchemylabs, Skillman & Hackett, Steel Wool Games, Vertigo Games, and Wevr.

Valve announced the Source 2 engine, the successor to the Source engine used in Valve’s games since the launch of Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life 2. “The value of a platform like the PC is how much it increases the productivity of those who use the platform. With Source 2, our focus is increasing creator productivity. Given how important user generated content is becoming, Source 2 is designed not for just the professional developer, but enabling gamers themselves to participate in the creation and development of their favorite games,” said Valve’s Jay Stelly. “We will be making Source 2 available for free to content developers. This combined with recent announcements by Epic and Unity will help continue the PCs dominance as the premiere content authoring platform.”

Also as part of supporting PC gaming, Valve announced that it will be releasing a Vulkan-compatible version of the Source 2 engine. Vulkan is a cross-platform, cross-vendor 3D graphics API that allows game developers to get the most out of the latest graphics hardware, and ensures hardware developers that there is a consistent, low overhead method of taking advantage of products. Vulkan, previously called Next Generation OpenGL, is administered by the Khronos Group, along with other standards such as OpenCL, OpenGL, and WebGL.

GDC 2015 will mark the 13th anniversary of Valve’s first public announcement of Steam, which has since become the leading platform for PC, Mac, and Linux games and software. In the last year, Steam realized the addition of many new services and features – including In-Home Streaming, Broadcasting, Music, and user-created stores – as it grew to over 125 million active accounts worldwide.

Source 2 is going to be HUGE for games going forward. The source engine is in desperate need of an update. It had a “partial” update with the release of Counterstrike: Global Offensive (think of it like source 1.5), but a complete version upgrade is needed to keep the platform competitive. With products like Unreal Engine 4 recently being released for FREE, Valve couldn’t compete with it’s physics engine alone.

The Source 2 release comes on the heels of HTC announcing their partnership with Valve on the Vive VR project, which looks like it is going to give the folks over at Oculus and Sony a run for their fucking money.

Valve also touched on their first party hardware releases. Announcing more Steam Machine units and availability, as well as giving a launch date for their controller (November 2015).

The most interesting of the hardware products has to be the Steam Link product. A small small streaming device ready to broadcast your Steam library from your beefy gaming PC, to your TV in the living room.

ss_3d5298eceb6bee71b60ded4bbb1b177c0198bd37.600x338

This is probably the most compelling product they’ve announced. The concept of the Steam Machines being a living room replacement for your gaming PC is great, but the individual units haven’t really been competitively priced for a comparable gaming PC. This takes that concept, and puts it into a small form factor and lets you stream from your existing hardware WITHOUT limiting you with the Steam OS.

All and all I am very happy with Valve’s announcements. The future of Valve Software looks bright with Source 2…and hopefully we’ll see the rise of Half-Life 3!

Earlier this week we talked about a recent hospital visit the legendary actor had mad for chest pains. Well today we’ve gotten the worst bit of follow up news.

Leanard Nimoy has passed away at age 83 at his home. His wife had confirmed this morning that the cause was “end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.”

I’m at a severe loss for words.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife and family.

Leonard, you will always live long and prosper in all our thoughts.

The flood gates have opened!

The hottest thing on the internet this week is without a doubt Joseph Kahn’s dark and gritty Power Rangers fan film, and today the folks over at Saban have filed a DMCA take down request with YouTube/Vimeo and got his film TAKEN DOWN!

When the news of this incident came to me, I had to ask our official Power Ranger expert Eric Francisco for his take on the take down.

He informed me that Saban is very strict with the public image of the Rangers, and always wants it to be very kid friendly. This isn’t the first time a fan film has been a cease and desist notice.

Hopefully this all gets sorted out, as Josephs product was truly amazing.

Troubling news. Most troubling.

According to a TMZ report, Leonard Nimoy has been sent to the hospital after severe chest pains prompted a call to emergency services.

The report had this to say:

We’re told paramedics weren’t taking chances with Captain Spock and got him in front of a doctor ASAP. Nimoy’s been in and out of hospitals multiple times in the last few months.

Nimoy announced he was suffering from COPD back in 2014, and even though he quit smoking more than 30 years ago … he blames his illness on decades of lighting up.

In a sort of…odd poetic coincidence, his most recent tweet has a very somber tone.

Nothing much else to report. We will keep you updated as more information is released.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Leonard. He is one of the greats, one of the amazing few that helped make US geeks who we are today.

YOU HAVE TO OUTLIVE SHATNER LEONARD!

We’re back with another incredible My Little Pony collection from Shout! Factory Kids. This time around we’ve got five episodes all about those fancy tattoos called cutie marks!

I love these DVDs from Shout! Factory Kids because they are the perfect package FOR a younger fan of the show. These series of DVDs all have their own cohesive theme that I believe are great for a kid to enjoy in nice long binge sesh. Like Netflix for kids but without the bandwidth overages from Comcast!

Adventures of The Cutie Mark Crusaders centers around, well the Cutie Mark Crusaders (and the amazing Cheese Sandwich episode)! You get on disc:

The Cutie Mark Chronicles

The Cutie Pox

Flight To The Finish

Pinkie Pride

Twilight Time

Now I don’t want to get into reviewing each of these episodes. Frankly we don’t have enough time in the WEEK for me to coherently deconstruct each episode. I just want to give you an opinion on the entire package.

The episode selection is top notch with this release. I feel they curated a great series of episodes from all four seasons that all center around, what appears to be, the never ending journey of the CMC getting their cutie marks.

Bonuses include one of the genuinely fun Sing Alongs (hey, I’m a sucker for ridiculously sweet things OKAY!), a collection of surprisingly well done wallpapers and a printable coloring sheet.

Final Thoughts

All and all Adventures of The Cutie Mark Crusaders collection is a great product, just like all of these collections from Shout! Factory.

I give it a definite buy for a younger fan. As an older fan of the show, I don’t think it would appeal to the Brony/hardcore collector.

You can get your hands on Adventures of The Cutie Mark Crusaders February 24th!

Score: 3.5/5

Keep and eye out for THIS DVD case!

I first heard about Guillermo del Toro’s, “masterpiece”, Crimson Peak last year at SDCC. Our booth neighbors at Legendary had an amazing booth display designed by the set designers of the film. When I took the tour, and learned about the effort that went into this TINY little hallway I instantly knew I wanted to see this movie. And after watching this trailer, I…I just need this film in my life!

Legendary Pictures’ Crimson Peak, a co-production with Universal Pictures, is a haunting gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy series, Pacific Rim), written by del Toro & Matthew Robbins and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver. In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds… and remembers. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro and Callum Greene produce, and Jillian Share executive produces.

Did you see that shit?! SO ON BOARD! That hallway where the ghost came out of the floor? Yeah, I’VE BEEN THERE! Or I’ve been in an impressive simulation of that hallway on the SDCC convention floor.

Crimson Peak is set to hit theaters October 16th, 2015. Just in time for some Halloween fun!

OH Hitman! Hitman, Hitman, Hitman, Hitman. Oh, Hitman. What an interesting series of events that lead us to here, and this trailer.

Hitman: Agent 47 is a “remake?” of sorts, of the 2007 film Hitman. That film, starring Timothy Olyphant, wasn’t even close to a critical success (but still a damn fun film to watch). They had such high hopes for it though! Sequels were planned and quickly crushed as the movie came and went out of theaters, even though Ebert gave it a 3/4 Star review!

Then way way back in 2013, Fox made a big old announcement that they were going to REMAKE the film and have Paul Walker star as the titular Hitman. Sadly later that year Paul Walker passed away in a car accident, and shortly thereafter Rupert Friend was attached to the film as the bald assassin. Not much else was said about the film, UNTIL NOW!

To be honest? I have no idea what to expect from this trailer. Is 47 a good guy or a bad guy? Is Zachary Quinto’s acting going to be that stale through the WHOLE film? Are the visual effects going to be improved? Why were there so many god damned blue sedans on that street? SO MANY QUESTIONS!

I will always support a video game film, even if I know it’s going to be garbage. So I’ll probably see it some lazy Saturday matinee with a flask in my pocket.

Hitman: Agent 47 is set to hit theaters August 28, 2015.

The proverbial nail was put in the figurative coffin of Rock Band and their DLC services, way back in April of 2013. Even though the Music Store was never actually taken down, gamers FREAKED and started hoarding all the music they could, in fear that their purchased tracks would be gone gone gone. Well, today Harmonix announced THREE NEW TUNES available Tuesday.

After a brief hiatus (cough21 monthscough) we’re releasing brand new Rock Band DLC tomorrow! New tracks from Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, and Foo Fighters will hit Xbox 360 and PS3 on Tuesday 1/13. Check out the full press release below for additional details, and we’ll update this thread with answers to frequently asked questions as the week goes on.

We’ve missed rocking with all of you. 🙂

-HMXhenry

On Tuesday, January 13th, new music from Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, and Foo Fighters will hit the Rock Band Music Store!

“R U Mine?” marks the first appearance of the Grammy Award winning Arctic Monkeys on the Rock Band platform. From 2013’s critically acclaimed album AM, “R U Mine?” – with its

driving riffs, syncopated rock beats, and memorable hook – is perfect for Artic Monkeys’ Rock Band debut.

One of the most fan requested artists, Avenged Sevenfold, makes their return to Rock Band with “Shepherd Of Fire.” The track comes from the band’s sixth studio record, 2013’s Billboard chart-topping Hail to the King.

Foo Fighters’ “Something From Nothing” from the band’s latest, 2014’sSonic Highways, will also be available for download. Heard in the opening sequence of the hit HBO music documentary series Sonic Highways, directed by Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl, “Something From Nothing” topped the charts when it was released last October.

Available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 system (January 13th, 2015):

  • Arctic Monkeys – “R U Mine?”
  • Avenged Sevenfold – “Shepherd Of Fire”
  • Foo Fighters – “Something From Nothing”

Price: $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU per song

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system January 21)

This brought up an interesting point. Event though Harmonix said they were stopping DLC, they never took the Music Store down. It’s always fun to see the panic train a-goin.

Looks like I’ll be dusting off my 360, scouring for a guitar, and gonna grab a big ole’ bottle of whiskey!

From the studio that brought us Remember Me comes Life is Strange. A new episodic game where your decisions can affect the…past? Yeah you read that right. This game is gonna get all Back to The Future on us!

The trailer feels like it should be for an emotional indie film, what with that stereotypical squiggle font and all.

Life is Strange is an episodic, narrative driven adventure game which tells the compelling story of Max; a Senior photography student who suddenly discovers she is able to rewind time. She uses her power to save the life of Chloe, her childhood friend, whom she has not seen in five years. For Chloe it’s been a turbulent time and she’s been drifting off course since her father’s tragic death.

The reunion will turn their lives upside down, as increasingly strange events plague the small town of Arcadia Bay both teenagers find themselves involved in a grim investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a high school student.

It appears that after the somewhat critical failure of their previous title Remember Me, Dontnod is attempting to cash in on TellTale’s success in episode narrative driven content.
