Just over one week ago, Geekscape TV brought you Lou Ferrigno playing Flappy Bird, and now we’re back with a fantastic conversation with the man that moulded many of our childhood memories, Stan Lee.

A few days back, Jonathan sat down with Stan to film an interview for our new YouTube channel, GeekscapeTV. Geekscape TV is a serious reimagining of our old YouTube channel (it is a different channel, so be sure to subscribe to the new one), and one that we intend to fill to the brim with original, awesome content (like the first trailer for Hero of the Prophecy, the just-remastered HD cut of Gay By Dawn, a hilarious Miami Vice spoof, and so on).

The interview features plenty of great Marvel vs. DC banter, and Stan even reveals the secret to why the Marvel movies have been so successful!

Take a look at the full interview below, let us know what you think, and be sure to subscribe to GeekscapeTV for more!

Briefly: Following last week’s trio of new images, the first teaser trailer for Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has finally debuted online.

I still remember being a 15 year old kid, absolutely falling in love with the first film, and being so excited when it was announced that a sequel would be put on the fast track. Now, it’s 9 years later, and it still hasn’t released. But it’s coming, and soon!

The trailer brings me right back. The film’s distinct visual style is back in full force, and I can’t wait to see the full feature. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd.

Briefly: I really was not expecting to read this today: A feature film based on Naughty Dog’s incredible The Last of Us is in the works.

As a huge fan of the game, I’m not really sure how to feel about the news, as at this point I simply don’t see how player actions and plot of the deeply affecting title could translate into something non-interactive. The film will be written by the game’s writer/director Neil Druckmann however, which can only be a good thing for the end product.

Here’s the full announcement. Be sure to let us know what you think of the news. Also, who would you like to see playing the roles from the game?

Screen Gems will distribute the live action film THE LAST OF US based on the critically-acclaimed PlayStation®3 exclusive video game, developed by Naughty Dog. Neil Druckmann, the Creative Director for the game, will also write the script for the film. On behalf of Naughty Dog, the project will be produced by Co-Presidents’ Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra, as well as Creative Director Neil Druckmann and Game Director Bruce Straley, along with Sam Raimi via their Ghost House Pictures banner.

Clint Culpepper, Screen Gems’ President, stated, “Screen Gems’ Brian Dukes and Eric Ling brought this game to my attention insisting we go after it. When I saw the quality of the storytelling, I knew the audience for this project was far greater than just the gaming community and that Neil Druckmann must write the screenplay. I am thrilled that SCEA’s Riley Russell was able to get me in front of Neil and Evan Wells to plead my case. And Sam and his team at Ghost House round out the perfect team to help realize Neil’s vision.”

“Our partnership with Sam Raimi, Ghost House Pictures, and Screen Gems to develop a film based on The Last of Us universe is a perfect fit,” said Evan Wells, Naughty Dog’s Co-President. “Since our game released last June, we’ve talked with many companies about making a film, but we couldn’t have found better partners who share our creative vision and high standards. We look forward to collaborating with Sam, his team, and Screen Gems, to make a movie that will thrill fans of The Last of Us and general audiences worldwide.”

The rich and visceral story of The Last of Us, which was released in June of 2013, follows hardened survivor, Joel, and Ellie, a young and capable girl, on their journey through a radically transformed world. Set twenty years after an infectious pandemic spread by the cordyceps virus ravaged the course of humanity, these two people, who were brought together by chance, must make life-altering decisions in order to survive. The Last of Us explores themes of survival, loyalty, love, and redemption in an emotionally charged expedition across a post-epidemic United States.

The Last of Us has received worldwide recognition for its innovation in storytelling and gameplay, garnering over 200 global Game of the Year awards from notable outlets such as USA Today, E! Online, Yahoo!, and IGN. The post-apocalyptic video game also took home 10 wins at this year’s Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences D.I.C.E. Awards – including Game of the Year, Outstanding Innovation in Gaming and Character Performance. Additionally, The Last of Us also won a Writers Guild of America award for “Outstanding Achievement in Writing for Video Games” and leads nominations for the British Academy of Film and Television Video Game (BAFTA) Awards with 10.

Yep. Still having a hard time wrapping my head around it.

I’m a big board game player, so this is definitely a campaign that I can get behind.

The team behind The Walking Dead: The Board Game (not the Cryptozoic title based on the AMC series, but the Z-Man Games game based on the comic) has developed an intriguing sequel called The Walking Dead: The Prison.

The game will feature tons of Charlie Adlard’s excellent The Walking Dead art, and will showcase issues 13-24 of the comic, the “discovery of, fight to clean out, and struggle to control the prison.”

Here’s a brief overview of the game, straight from the title’s campaign page:

The Walking Dead The Prison – Board Game is a new, stand-alone board game in which you and up to five of your friends take on the role of one of the six leaders of the group from Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead: Rick, Tyreese, Glenn, Dale, Andrea, and Michonne.

The goal of the game? To earn enough Leadership Points to take control of the entire group of survivors.

To earn Leadership Points, they must fight their way through the zombie swarm in the prison yard, bash their way through the prison itself, reach their destination and secure the area. Along the way, players will have to collect additional resources, rescue Followers, and as expected…fight zombies.

Anyone who has played the first game will be familiar with many of the features and mechanics in this sequel.

The Walking Dead The Prison – Board Game  is both a stand-alone game and an expansion module to the first game, easily converting the first game into one half of an epic.

Now, the game’s development is almost complete, but rather than taking a traditional publishing route, the team has taken to Kickstarter to finish things up. By doing this, it gives fans an opportunity to get their hands on the game before it hits store shelves, and also offers levels of customization that wouldn’t be possible using traditional publishing methods.

As always, there are a ton of awesome rewards up for grabs, including copies of the game, tickets to Stan Lee’s Comikaze and the game’s launch party, custom cards, and a lot more. Here’s a breakdown of all of the available rewards:

Rewards

I can’t wait for this to release. The project is currently sitting at $12,021 of its $81,100 goal, and has 27 days left to reach its target. Take a look at the Kickstarter video for The Walking Dead: The Prison below, and let us know if you’ll be backing!

Briefly: The game was only announced two days ago (with a very impressive CGI trailer), but thanks to Game Informer we know have more information on the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight.

First up, it looks like the game’s subtitle, Arkham Knight, isn’t referring to Batman, but a new character altogether:

“We hadn’t in the previous games introduced someone new to the universe. We wanted to introduce someone who could really challenge Batman to go head to head with him in lots of different ways. We’re not talking about those ways just yet but this guy is definitely a formidable foe for Batman.” said game director Sefton Hill.

On that note, ConsoleLife has published the following image, which doesn’t look like our Bats, and is totally, probably the Arkham Knight:

ArkhamKnightThe game’s environment will take place over three distinct islands, which will end up about five times larger than the map in Arkham City. As always, Rocksteady doesn’t want to make it big, just so they can say it’s big:

As we’ve said before with Arkham City, it’s not about scale as much as detail. We want to make sure the world is rich and full of interesting things to do. We’re not trying to create the biggest open-world game ever. We are trying to create a really rich, vibrant, dense open world.”

Last update. As we learned a few days back, the Batmobile will definitely be drivable. That’s cool news, but Rocksteady doesn’t just want it to be any old car:

“We wanted to make the best car in any game ever. That was our mission statement right from the start.”

A ton of new images from the magazine have also made their way online, including our first looks at Oracle, the Penguin, the Riddler, and more. Take a look at the images below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game! Batman: Arkham Knight will launch on October 14th, and if you pre-order the title, it looks as though you’ll get the opportunity to play as Harley Quinn.

Briefly: Ubisoft has been all-but-silent on the Watch Dogs front since the game was delayed back in October. Today, the publisher officially announced the game’s new release date, and also released a new story trailer for the anticipated title.

The new trailer gives us a much better sense of just what’s going on in the game, which is something that wasn’t overly clear before. We also see Aiden’s motivations for his actions, and a ton of new action to boot.

You can take a look at the new story trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think. Watch Dogs will launch on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4 on May 27th. The Wii U version is currently without a release date.

Briefly: Following the all-too-revealing international trailer from a few weeks back, Sony today debuted a new featurette for the highly anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The featurette digs into Gwen and Peter’s tough relationship, and breaks down the Gwen-needs-to-leave-but-doesn’t-want-to-leave subplot of the film, as well as the fact that Peter feels bad for breaking his promise to the late Captain Stacey.

You can take a look at the featurette below, and be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to the film. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theatres on May 2nd!

http://youtu.be/dCSdJwrGkjM

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Briefly: Following yesterday’s Wahlberg-centric character poster, Paramount has debuted two new character posters AND the full trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction.

As much as I’ve hated on the Transformers series over the years, there are definitely some cool moments to this trailer. The main character being an adult with a family to protect is an interesting deviation from Shia Labeouf, and the much more classically styled Optimus Prime is a welcome change. The Dinobots still looks stupid, but… well, baby steps, right?

You can take a look at the full trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction, plus two character posters below, and be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to the film, and what you’re most looking forward to seeing in the full feature.

Briefly: The cast of Gotham has grown once more.

Following Jada Pinkett-Smith joining the project a few weeks back (and plenty of other casting just prior to that), Touch‘s David Mazouz has been cast in the series as a young Bruce Wayne, and newcomer Camren Bicondova has come onboard as Selina Kyle.

According to the release, Wayne has been “sentenced to a solitary life after the tragic murder of his wealthy parents. Serious and soulful, young Bruce relies on the guidance and protection of Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon.” while Kyle is “a teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable. A street thief and skilled pickpocket, she’s dangerous when cornered.”

Are you looking forward to Gotham? What do you think of the cast so far? Sound out below!

Briefly: It was barely two weeks ago that Sony revealed that over 5 million PS4 units had been sold, and today the company marked another milestone: 6 million freaking units.

The console launched in Japan on February 22nd, so I’m sure the surge of units had something to do with that. In any case, it’s an insanely impressive number.

Take a look at what the company had to say below, and let us know if you’ve picked up a unit!

As you’ve probably read by now, cumulative PS4 sales have now surpassed six million units worldwide following the successful launch in Japan just over a week ago. It’s truly humbling to see the rate at which gamers across the globe are choosing PS4 as their next gen console of choice. Even more exciting is what happens when gamers power up their PS4s. In the United States, more than 90% of PS4s are online, enabling gamers to connect, compete and share their greatness with friends and fellow gamers.

There have now been more than 3.6 million live broadcasts, and more than 56 million spectate sessions on PS4 through Twitch and Ustream. In fact, since January 1st, PS4 gamers account for 20% of daily broadcasters on Twitch. PS4 owners are also embracing the Share button on the DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller, with more than 100 million shares captured as fans show friends their latest achievements on Facebook and Twitter.

And soon, you’ll be able to share your greatness in new ways. Developers are beginning to take advantage of PS4’s new interactive live broadcasting gaming features, integrating modes that allow broadcasted gameplay to become interactive for spectators. Even as a viewer, you can now influence livestreamed gameplay.

For example, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition features a built-in Broadcast+ mode where you can stream your gameplay while viewers on the PS4 or a web browser influence positive and negative effects during gameplay. More social feedback is on the way too, with Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition in March and Daylight in April.

We love the enthusiasm that all of you have had for the PS4 since launch, and we can’t wait to share more great games, experiences and features with you soon. Greatness awaits!

Briefly: So it looks like Rocksteady was working on an Arkham title after all, and it’s the first game in the series that will hit the still-new Xbox One and PS4 (and won’t be hitting PS3 or Xbox 360).

The game is called Batman: Arkham Knight, and while all that we’ve seen from the game so far is a four-minute CGI (excellent) trailer, with Rocksteady back behind the series, we know that this game is going to be heaven for Batman fans.

According to Warner Bros., Arkham Knight will act as the conclusion to the Arkham series, and that in the game “Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.”

You read that right, you get to drive the Batmobile.

Sefton Hill, Game Director at Rocksteady Studios states that “The team at Rocksteady Studios is putting a tremendous amount of work into delivering the final chapter of our Batman: Arkham trilogy so that fans can feel what it’s like to be the Batman. We’re excited to be developing the game for next-gen platforms, which has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realized Gotham City.”

Yep, as I mentioned above, the game is only coming to next-gen (well, now current-gen) consoles (and PC), meaning that as pretty as the previous Arkham games were, Arkham Knight should look absolutely gorgeous.

Take a look at the CGI trailer below, and let us know how excited you are!

Briefly: Machinima is on a roll this week! Just a few days ago they released Game World, and awesome new short by the always-talented Joe Miale, and today they’ve debuted Counterspell, a hilarious animated comedy set in an old-school video game universe!

CounterSpell follows two dungeon mini-bosses who choose to leave their boss fight instead of facing their scripted deaths at the hands of four RPG players. They embark on a misguided evil adventure that will likely doom the world and turn the RPG genre on its head. It’s a ridiculously simple tale, with planty of preposterously funny content through its duration.

The series, which was created by some of the biggest names in the YouTube and Machinima universes, (including YouTube heavyweights MLGhwnt (220,000+ subs), iHasCupquake (youtube.com/iHasCupquake, 1,300.000+ subs), ImmortalHD (youtube.com/ImmortalHDFilms, 650,000+ subs), and Slyfox (youtube.com/xXSlyFoxHoundXx, 1,180,000+ subs), launched its first two episodes earlier today. You can check them out in full below, and we’ll be sure to share more as they’re released!

Be sure to let us know what you think of Counterspell so far!

Briefly: I’ve been a subscriber and fan of Marvel Unlimited since the service’s iPad app was released just under a year ago. The app (on both iPad and Android) still leaves a lot to be desired (it’s slow, zooming kinda sucks, and it only lets you store 12 issues for offline reading), but the service as a whole is excellent, and definitely worth the $69/year asking price (or $99 for the plus option).

In celebration of SXSW (at which the Geekscape co-produced Doc of the Dead will be premiering), Marvel is letting new users (and cancelled subscriptions) check out the service for one month, for just $.99. This means that for less than a buck, you’ll have access to Unlimited’s expansive catalog (well over 15,000 issues) on your computer, Android or iPhone, and Android Tablet or iPad. It’s awesome, and it’s addicting, and you’ll definitely want to keep your subscription going after the month is over.

You can take a look at the full release below for more info, and be sure to let us know if you’ll be partaking in this awesome opportunity.

Marvel is celebrating SXSW Interactive 2014 by offering fans access to nearly 15,000 of Marvel’s greatest comics- including the top-selling Age of Ultron event, all the first issues from the game-changing Marvel NOW! initiative and more– for an entire month via the ground-breaking Marvel Unlimited app…for only 99 cents! Fans can access some of the most important stories in pop culture history while online, and take twelve digital comics with them on the go, even when offline!

Not only is this the most comics ever offered by Marvel – or any comics company – at this price point, but the Marvel Unlimited library offers more digital comics than any other major comic book company.

Accessible through your desktop browser and the Marvel Unlimited mobile app – Marvel Unlimited is a member subscription service that gives members unlimited access to over 15,000 issues of Marvel’s classic and newer titles. More classic and newer issues are added every week – as early as six months after they’re in stores!

Briefly: We haven’t seen much from the Transformers: Age of Extinction camp since the first teaser debuted back at the Super Bowl (which also gave us our first look at the Dinobots). Today, Paramount Pictures debuted the first character poster for the film, which naturally features Mark Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager (yep, that’s his name) holding some sort of alien weapon.

You can take a look at the poster below, and be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theatres on June 27th, 2014.

Briefly: The unit was announced for Europe some time ago, and now we know that we’ll be getting this special edition console as well!

Nintendo has officially announced the Yoshi’s New Island 3DS XL console for North America. The unit is a gorgeous Yoshi Green, with an image of everyone’s favourite dinosaur on the top of the unit. I just picked up a Mario and Luigi 3DS a couple of months ago, but now that I’ve seen this, I kinda wish that I’d waited.

Oddly enough (and unlike most of Nintendo’s special edition consoles), the unit doesn’t actually include Yoshi’s New Islandso you’ll have to pick the actual game up separately. The unit launches on March 14th for a cool $199.99.

So, is it time for an update? Will you be picking up this gorgeous special-edition 3DS? Sound out below!

Briefly: Well, the Oscars are over for another year, and I’m pretty bummed out that I didn’t get to watch this year (the livestreams were neither live nor streaming unfortunately). I heard that Ellen did an excellent job hosting (as always), and that the entire ceremony was very well produced.

Now, who won!? Take a look at the full list of winners below, and be sure to let us know who you’re glad took home the gold, who you’re disappointed didn’t, and anything else about this year’s Oscars that you may want to share!

Briefly: We’re now just a couple of weeks away from being able to see the Kickstarter funded Veronica Mars movie (either on VOD/ in theatres on March 14th, or premiering at SXSW along with the Geekscape co-produced Doc of the Dead).

It’s an event that many fans never thought they’d see, and it’s absolutely incredible how fast it came to be funded. The Veronica Mars movie became both the fastest campaign to reach both 1-million and 2-million dollars. Now, you can watch the first two minutes.

still haven’t seen the show, so I (unfortunately) don’t really have any idea what’s going on; I really wish the series was on Canadian Netflix so I could have binge-watched before the movie’s release. In any case, take a look at the movie’s opening below, and let us know where you’ll be watching the full feature!

Briefly: The CW has just released the first official image of Grant Gustin as Barry Allen / The Flash, and as skeptical as I was about Gustin’s casting (I disliked his Glee character immensely), he looks pretty bad-ass.

Of course, a still won’t hold a candle to any in-motion footage, so we’ll have to see how things look once that’s released. As far as a still goes however, Gustin and his costume look great (Colleen Atwood, costume designer for Arrow, also designed this one).

Take a look at the still below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: You may remember a fantastic Assassin’s Creed fan film that debuted on Machinima last back in September, and a fantastic Half-Life short that dropped in October. Both were totally awesome, and both were developed by a very talented filmmaker named Joe Miale.

Well, Miale’s back, and this time he’s taken released an original short called Game World

In Game World, Avid gamer Monty, is obsessed with classic 8-bit game, ‘Corbin’s Quest’. In his quest to find the cheat password to unlock a legendary hidden level, Monty gets more than he bargained for as he is transported into the game and will soon find himself battling the characters within. In short, life is a game – and Monty has just found the cheat code.

The short is pretty cool, so take a look below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: There’s no word on who he’ll be playing, but Deadline has just reported that Patrick Wilson (Hard Candy, Watchmen) has joined the cast of Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man.

Wilson joins Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and maybe even Evangeline Lilly in the July 17th, 2015 release. Be sure to let us know who you’d like to see Wilson play in the comments below!

Briefly: Bearing any further delays, we’re finally set to see the sequel to 2005’s Sin City this Summer.  I still remember being a 15 year old kid, loving the first one, and being so excited when it was announced that a sequel would be put on the fast track. Now, it’s 9 years later, and it still hasn’t released.

In any case, it’s coming, and I can’t wait. Entertainment Weekly has published a few new photos from the film, including a still of Jessica Alba looking just as good as she did in the first film, Mickey Rourke’s Marv looking as badass as ever, and newcomer Joseph Gordon-Levitt looking pissed and bloody.

Take a look at the images below, and let us know if you’re still looking forward to the sequel after all these years. Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd.

Briefly: We’ve been waiting (and waiting) to find out just when we’ll be able to continue Clementine’s horrific journey in Telltale’s The Walking Dead, and today the developer finally let us know (at least for PS3 players).

The game’s second episode, titled ‘A House Divided’ will hit PS3 this coming Tuesday, March 4th. Xbox 360 and iOS will follow shortly, while episodes 1 and 2 will hit the Playstation Vita near the end of the month.

Telltale has also released a new trailer for the episode, which you can gush over below (we’re gushing). If you missed it, you can read our review of the first episode here, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see next week.

Briefly: We’re now just a few days away from A&E’s premiere of the second season of Bates Motel, and the network has just debuted a new trailer showing us just how psycho things are about to get.

There’s plenty of footage in the new video, including some new characters, Norman being creepy, of course, and even Norman trying to get some psychiatric help (I wonder how that’ll go). Overall, it’s a great tease, and I certainly can’t wait for the series to return this Monday. Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think!

http://youtu.be/jNtHFOnDmpw

“Picking up from last season, Norman (Freddie Highmore) is fixating on Miss Watson’s death while Norma’s mysterious past starts to haunt the family with the introduction of her brother. Meanwhile, Norman’s brother Dylan, (Max Thieriot), gets more entrenched in the familial drug war that fuels White Pine Bay and finds himself right in the middle of the danger as Bradley (Nicola Peltz), who remains on the hunt to uncover her father’s killer, is driven to precarious extremes. Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell), is caught up on all fronts as everything in town escalates and Emma (Olivia Cooke) complicates her relationship with Norman as the duo explore new love interests, bringing new and old characters along for the ride.“

Briefly: We haven’t heard too much news from the Marvel / Netflix deal since its announcement back in November (aside from Drew Goddard’s involvement in the Daredevil series). Today however, the city of New York has revealed that each series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, if you’ve forgotten) will be filmed in the real-life big apple.

The announcement is set to create over 3000 jobs in the area, with filming set to begin this Summer.

You can take a look at the entire press release below for more info, and be sure to let us know if you’re excited for this authentic NYC experience! We’ll have more info on each series for you as soon as it’s available!

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, The Walt Disney Company, Marvel and Netflix Inc. today announced that Marvel’s landmark live-action television series, which will bring Marvel’s ‘flawed heroes of Hell’s Kitchen’ characters to Netflix, the world’s leading Internet TV network, will principally film in New York State. Produced by Marvel Television, in association with ABC Television Studios, this groundbreaking series is Marvel’s most ambitious foray yet into live-action television storytelling and represents the largest film or television production project commitment in New York State history.

Filming is set to begin in the Summer 2014 and will create at least three thousand jobs in New York State including up to 400 full time jobs. The project will include nearly 60 one-hour episodes focused on the 4 Defenders characters: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

“New York is where the entertainment industry started, and this unprecedented commitment from Disney and Marvel is further evidence that we’re bringing it back bigger and better than ever before,” said Governor Cuomo. “And when the entertainment industry thrives, it fuels dozens of other industries and businesses. The competition for these projects is fierce and Disney could have chosen to film these shows anywhere, but they knew that shooting in New York means getting to work with the best in world. These shows bring New York’s superheroes home where they belong – along with hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in new business.”

“Since 2008 Disney has directly contributed almost half a billion dollars to New York’s economy through television and film production, along with approximately 9,000 jobs for New Yorkers,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company. “The Governor’s policies make this great state a more affordable and attractive location, opening the door for even greater economic investment and job creation for New Yorkers. Our Marvel series for Netflix will inject millions directly into the local economy and create hundreds of new jobs.”

“We thank the Governor and the great state of New York for helping us create the ultimate backdrop to this epic series. Setting our production in New York City truly underscores the authenticity and excitement we plan to bring to The Defenders and their ‘flawed heroes of Hell’s Kitchen’ stories,” said Alan Fine, President, Marvel Entertainment.

Last November, Disney and Netflix announced an unprecedented deal for Marvel TV to bring multiple original series of live-action adventures of four of Marvel’s most popular characters exclusively to the world’s leading Internet TV Network beginning in 2015. This pioneering agreement calls for Marvel to develop four serialized programs totaling 52 one-hour episodes culminating in a four to eight episode mini-series programming event. Led by a series focused on “Daredevil,” followed by “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage,” the epic will unfold over multiple years of original programming, taking viewers deep into the gritty world of heroes and villains of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Netflix has committed to a minimum of four, thirteen episodes series and a mini-series event in which the Marvel characters from the first four series team up as “The Defenders,” much like “The Avengers.”

This new original TV deal follows last year’s landmark movie distribution deal through which, beginning with 2016 theatrically released feature films, Netflix will be the exclusive U.S. subscription television service for first-run, live-action and animated movies from the Walt Disney Studios, including titles from Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Disneynature and Lucasfilm.

“The Defenders are classic New York characters; smart, resourceful and tough enough to always stand up for what’s right,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. “We’re delighted they’re coming to life on their home turf thanks to Governor Cuomo and his team.”

When Governor Cuomo took office in 2011, he made the attraction of the film and television production and post-production industries, and jobs and the economic impact they bring with them, a key part of his overall strategy to grow New York State’s economy. Since that time, he has signed into law several important changes to both programs to make New York more competitive in this global marketplace, and the results have been significant. Both programs enjoyed record-breaking years in 2013, bringing billions of dollars in new spending and thousands of jobs into the Empire State. The stability provided by multiyear funding has particularly encouraged the development of television series production work, like the new Marvel series, as well as long term investments in infrastructure, all of which creates thousands of jobs directly and indirectly related to the actual productions themselves.

Which series are you most looking forward to? Sound out below!

He probably won't look like this.
He probably won’t look like this.

Briefly: The Walking Dead is back, and we couldn’t have been happier to see Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene show up over the past two weeks.

I think it’s safe to say that (so far), the show’s fourth season has been its best yet, and we hope that the trend can continue with the season’s final five episodes. AMC has just released a new teaser for the season, which recaps how our survivors ended up where they are now, and also shows us where all of them are going (Terminus, generally). We really can’t wait to see what happens when they get there.

Take a look at the ad below, and let us know what you’ve thought of season four so far!

Briefly: All the way back in January, Warner Bros. teased us that new Batman: Arkham Origins story DLC was on its way.

Today, they finally debuted the first trailer. It’s called ‘Cold, Cold, Heart’, and as we expected, it’s definitely about Mr. Freeze.

The DLC will hit PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on April 22nd. Note that the content will not be making the Wii U edition (which is, of course, the one that I bought).

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

Briefly: We already know how incredible Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us is (though, since my apartment has been under renovation for WEEKS, I haven’t had a chance to play Left Behind). Now, many of us will have our first opportunity to jump inside the making of what many are calling the ‘game of the generation’ with Grounded: The Making of ‘The Last of Us’, a feature-length documentary that delves into many facets of the property’s creation.

The documentary was previously available as an exclusive bonus to the game’s Season Pass holders, but now that Sony has put it on their official YouTube channel, it’s open to the world.

You can watch the documentary in full below. If you haven’t yet played the game, what the heck are you waiting for? Also, it’s advised that you complete the game before watching, so you should definitely go ahead and do that.

Briefly: If you’ve been thinking about picking up console from the 3DS family, but for some reason haven’t gone for it, now is the perfect time!

Nintendo is launching a pretty fantastic promotion beginning March 1st that should definitely move some units (though not the units that Nintendo needs to move). Basically, you pick up a 3DS, 3DS XL, or 2DS, and one select game, and you’ll get a copy of Pokemon X or for FREE. The game costs $39.99 on its own, and is absolutely fantastic (check out our review here), so there’s a good chance that you’ll end up playing it far more than the game that you actually buy.

All you need to do is register the console and one of the following games on Club Nintendo between March 1 and 31:

Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3D Land
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins
Yoshi’s New Island

Pretty cool, huh? Be sure to let us know if you’ll be jumping on this one! If you don’t have a 3DS yet, you totally should, because it’s totally awesome.

Briefly: Following yesterday’s reveal of Godzilla’s new roar, Warner Bros. has just debuted an epic (epic) second trailer for the film.

The first trailer for Godzilla debuted all the way back in December, so seeing some new footage is definitely welcome at this point. Since the first trailer’s debut, all we’ve really seen from the project is the announcement of a tie-in graphic novel, and a cool new poster.

The wait has been worth it. The first trailer was excellent, and this one is better. The closing shot, the destruction, just all of it… I’m getting chills just thinking about it! Just watch the damned thing, and let us know how cool you think it is!

Godzilla hits theatres on May 16th. What are you most excited to see in the film?

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Briefly: The first trailer for Legendary’s Godzilla debuted back in December, and as awesome as it was (it was freaking awesome), it left us wanting so much more. Since then, all we’ve really seen from the project is the announcement of a tie-in graphic novel, and a cool new poster.

Today, the studio debuted a short new video that gives us our first listen of the monster’s new roar, and the official website has been updated with new audio and a countdown to tomorrow at 10 am PST.

Take a look (and a listen) to Godzilla’s roar below, and head here to listen to some epic lines from Bryan Cranston’s character.

Godzilla hits theatres on May 16th. Be sure to let us know how excited you are!
