Briefly: Now I haven’t exactly watched this clip as I’m way behind on The Walking Dead (though AMC themselves did give me that terrible spoiler), but it’s probably something that I should get on seeing as the series returns for the remainder of its fifth season in just a few more days!

Here’s what we’re dealing with for the remainder of the season:

“After the tragic events of the mid-season finale–as well as losing the possibility of a cure in Washington, DC–Rick Grimes’ band of survivors find themselves on the road, surviving day to day and trying to hold on to their shredded humanity and dwindling hope.

Stripped of security and without a direction for the future, some of the group near their breaking point, some find themselves hardened and cold and some just try to grasp on to what little they have left.

Though they are still breathing, the line between Rick’s group and the dead is starting to blur.

Could there be anything at this point that brings them back to life?“

Take a look at the clip below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Sunday!

Briefly: Marvel and Netflix have just debuted a promising 15-second teaser for April’s 13-episode Daredevil series, noting that a full trailer for the series will premiere online tomorrow.

In the teaser, we get to hear Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock for the first time, and he’s sounding pretty stellar. Take a look at the teaser below, and check back tomorrow for the full trailer.

I feel like I’m looking forward to Daredevil and Marvel’s other Netflix projects more than any of the MCU films this year. What are your thoughts?

“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Briefly: Following the additions of Rachael Taylor and David Tennant last week, The Matrix alum Carrie-Anne Moss has joined Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones in a yet unnamed role.

The recurring role will see Moss as  “a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica…if Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first.”

Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb stated that “Carrie-Anne has proven her ability to play complex characters with deep and layered inner lives. Her interaction with Jessica Jones will be one of the many highlights of the series.”

Are you looking forward to the 13-episode series? Are you satisfied with the casting choices so far? Sound out below!

Briefly: Bates Motel is almost back (FINALLY), and I couldn’t be more excited. A&E has just debuted the key art for this coming season, and its progressively creepier than anything we’ve seen thus far.

This season, “After a blissful summer of closeness with his mother, living within the safe confines of home and the Bates Motel, Norman’s fears about what really happened with Blaire Watson resurface and Norma questions what really happened. Forced to look at the truths about Norman for the first time, their deeply intricate relationship continues to evolve. Norma finds herself turning to the other man in her life, Norman’s half-brother, Dylan (Max Thieriot) and begins to rely on him in ways that she never expected. This relationship inevitably triggers jealousy in Norman and a new kind of love triangle between Norma and her two sons erupts. Estranged brother and uncle, Caleb (Kenny Johnson) returns to haunt the family throughout the season challenging the family bond even further. Pressures of the outside world take a hold of the family when newcomers Kevin Rahm (“Mad Men,” “Desperate Housewives”), Tracy Spiradakos (“Revolution”) and Ryan Hurst (“Sons of Anarchy”) arrive at White Pine Bay. After a summer of living at the Bates Motel, Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) and Norma have grown closer but there will always have that troubling question mark surrounding Norman. Something doesn’t feel right, but spite of his instincts, Romero finds himself continually drawn back to the Bates family — and to Norma. Emma (Olivia Cooke) also determined to find out what is happening to Norman becomes more emboldened, fearless, goes after the things she wants. Familiar face, Bradley (Nicola Peltz) returns to surprise the family and digs up old memories.”

Bates Motel will premiere on March 9th! Take a look at the poster below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the new season!

Briefly: If you’re playing Telltale’s adaptation of Game of Thrones (and if you’re a fan of the series or books, you definitely should be), you’ll be happy to know that the developer has just released a stellar launch trailer for the game’s next episode.

The episode is titled ‘The Lost Lords’, and it will debut on PC, Mac, PS3, and PS4 on tomorrow (Feb 3rd), Xbox 360 and Xbox One of February 4th, and iOS and Android devices on February 5th.

The game “tells the story of House Forrester. Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, they are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom.”

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you thought of the first episode!

House Forrester is in disarray. Their liege lord and his heir are dead, and Ironrath is occupied by Whitehill soldiers. The survival of the family depends upon those who are left. Placed at King’s Landing, the epicenter of intrigue, Mira Forrester must weigh her loyalty to Margaery Tyrell against the needs of her family, while choosing how to play the political games of Tyrion Lannister. One misstep could spell doom for Mira and her entire family. To the far north, Gared Tuttle finds that the wall and its crows hold little love for a squire from the Wolfswood, but finds kinship in the bastard son of Ned Stark. Gared must prove worthy of becoming a ranger in order to carry out the mission given him; one that is vital to the future of those he serves. To the east, Asher Forrester, the exiled son, is called back to Westeros to aid his family, but how can one man help when the Boltons rule the north with an iron fist? Meanwhile, an unexpected source of hope returns to the Forresters, but Ironrath is no place for the weak.

Briefly: I’ve admittedly skipped out on the Fast & Furious series to this point (well, I did see the first film, but I was eleven). That’s definitely something that I need to change, however, as after seeing today’s Super Bowl spot for April’s Furious 7, I cannot wait to see what this franchise has to offer.

The spot is totally fantastic, and totally ridiculous. I don’t want to give away too much, so here it is:

I can’t even. Furious 7 hits theatres on April 3rd.

Briefly: The Super Bowl spot for Tomorrowland didn’t show off a ton of new footage, but it’s really hard not to be excited for the May 22nd release.

In the film, “former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.”

The Iron Giant, Ratatouille, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird is at the helm of this one, and the script comes from Bird himself and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof. We’re damned excited for this one, so take a look at the new teaser below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Originally announced back in February of 2014, NBC has debuted the very first teaser for their upcoming 13-episode reboot of Heroes, titled Heroes Reborn.

The teaser clearly features footage shot just for the teaser, as the series has not yet entered production. In the short video, we see returning star Jack Coleman, and new coming Zachary Levi… and some powers (duh).

Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! Heroes Reborn is set to premiere sometime in 2015!

I honestly didn’t know what to expect when jumping into Techland’s Dying Light. Each and every trailer looked totally beautiful,  the gameplay and parkour system looked fluid and fun, but as I’ve expressed numerous times on Geekscape and the Geekscape Games podcast; open world games don’t really do it for me, the zombie genre is entirely overdone (aside from Telltale, GIVE ME MORE PLEASE), and while there were some great moments hidden within Dead Island, the overall buggy package wasn’t overly memorable, or even overly fun.

Techland’s Dead Island follow-up, Dying Light, feels like the package the developer wanted to deliver the first time around. It’s absolutely not perfect, and it doesn’t really add anything new to the zombie genre, but I’m having a really hard time putting it down, and if that isn’t the mark of a great experience, I don’t know what is.

In Dying Light, you’ll play as Kyle Crane (voiced by Roger Craig Smith, who we featured on the Geekscape podcast just a few weeks back), an undercover GRE (Global Relief Effort) agent who’s dropped into the quarantined, zombie-filled city of Harran to acquire a stolen document that could lead to the destruction of the agency (and a lot of lives). Things don’t go very well (at all) for Crane once he lands, and over the course of the game he’ll have to figure out whether it’s more important to complete the mission at hand, or help the other survivors (that totally saved his life). Now, it’s definitely no Bioshock Infinite or The Last of Us, but the plot here is coherent and well-paced enough to keep you intrigued, and it features characters that you’ll actually grow to care about, which is a huge step up from the drudging story of Dead Island. The game does a great job of setting itself up via a nice stylized opening cinematic which you can watch below:

If you’ve played Dead Island, a lot of Dying Light‘s gameplay elements will feel instantly familiar to you. Combat is largely melee based (as it should be, as everyone knows that loud noises will draw more undead), and works via a ‘Stamina’ meter that forces you to time and aim each swing as precisely as possible, as after a few attempts (especially at the beginning of the game), you’ll be forced to rest for a few seconds to regain your breath. The much-loved and much-appreciated kick button is still present, which will help keep the walkers at bay even while you regain your stamina, and you better not become too attached to a certain weapon, as Dying Light expands on Dead Island’s ‘oh crap your weapon is now broken you better go repair it’ mechanic by limiting the number of times that each weapon can be fixed. Yep. I’ve heard some mixed responses on this addition as it basically means that the better weapons and upgrades that players work diligently for are simply temporary bonuses, but I actually enjoyed the fact that the game forced me to play around with different weapons, and upgrades came around regularly enough that it wasn’t a problem. Lastly, Dying Light takes Dead Island‘s expansive and awesome skill system and adds a third tier: Agility. This movement based tree will earn you all types of parkour upgrades as you sprint, jump, and climb through the overrun city.

Speaking of parkour, Dying Light does bring a few huge additions to the Dead Island formula (aside from all of the polish, of course): parkour (mentioned above) and a neat day/night system that drastically changes the way you play the game. The parkour system is simple, and is probably the most fun I’ve had with the movement style since Mirror’s Edge. Rather than the ‘hold-a-button-and-slowly-climb-anything’ mechanic from the Assassin’s Creed series, Dying Light maps the game’s jump button to the R1 button on the PS4 controller (a departure from the usual X, and tough for some to get used to, but I rocked the ‘Bumper Jumper’ control style on Titalfall, so no issue here), and while you’re running around, you just look at what you want to jump on, press the button, and if able Kyle will hop and pull himself up to the level. The parkour system works very well most of the time, though due to the brown and grey earthen tones of Harran and its surroundings, it can sometimes be tough to figure out (especially mid chase) what the best route to take may be. There have also been a handful of times that jumps or grabs didn’t take (but in my opinion, should have), which led to my immediate death. Dying Light is also infinitely more polished than its spiritual predecessor, but because of the vast openness of the game and its movement system, climbing animations can sometimes look clunky and not completely line up.

Dying_Light_Screenshot_08

Then there’s the day/night system, which I definitely have a love/hate relationship with. First of all, nighttime is about the only time that Dying Light feels really scary (and at times I mean really). It’s really hard to see (obviously), so you have to decide whether you want to stay in total darkness, seeing just a few feet in front of you, or you could turn your flashlight on, drawing the attention of both the regular walkers but also the super freaky mutant nighttime only murder zombies. These moments are truly freaky, and there were definitely times during the game’s night sections that stressed me out to the point of needing to take a break. True story. Nighttime is much harder, and you’re rewarded for choosing to play at night with lots of bonus experience.

The main downside to the night portions of the game are just how many mutants there are. They’re hard to outrun, and once you’re spotted, you (for the most part) lose any semblance of stealthiness as these things will scare the hell out of you and it’s really hard to escape from them. This means that you’ll attract more of them, and die. A lot. While exciting and adrenaline pumping, I found that during the night sections I would simply stare at my minimap almost exclusively (you’re able to see mutant’s cones of vision, MGS style) and just try to avoid their sight instead of looking at what was occurring onscreen. Again, these sections are very cool looking, but I didn’t have that much fun with them. Thankfully, once you hit a safehouse you can just go to bed, and the game will cycle forward to morning time.

Dying_Light_Screenshot_07

Co-op is another section where Dying Light truly shines. Again, the game offers a similar to Dead Island drop-in, drop-out multiplayer mechanic, but this time around having additional players offers unique competitive challenges (who kills the most zombies, for example) that net the winner nice bonuses. This means that, while you’re totally on the same team as your friends, you’re also constantly trying to best them, taking bigger risks in order to win, and possibly screwing up everything. It’s really a blast. And that’s not to mention the awesome Be The Zombie mode, which puts one player, well, as a zombie with the objective of killing all of your friends.

One of the most alluring aspects of Dying Light has to be the sheer amount of things there are to do in the game. Sick of the main storyline? There are always collectibles to find, interesting-as-hell side missions to complete (I don’t know if I’ve ever enjoyed doing side missions as much as I do in Dying Light, they’re honestly almost better than the main campaign), safe houses to… make safe, air drops to claim, and that’s just scratching the surface.

01

Overall, Dying Light doesn’t do a lot that hasn’t been done before, but its precise mixture of sleek movement, involved parkour, zombie survival, and fantastic co-op is beyond welcome in a console generation full of remakes and rehashes. It may not be the most polished or beautiful game this generation (thought it is definitely very pretty), but it’s probably the most fun I’ve had with a AAA title on the PS4 or Xbox One. If you liked Dead Island, you’re likely to adore it, and even if you didn’t (like me), you’re bound to find plenty to love in this game.

tl;dr

+ It improves on almost everything that Dead Island had to offer.

+ Running around and doing parkour is an absolute blast, alone or with friends.

+ Tons of content and side missions to keep you coming back… seriously.

– Nighttime is scary, but has you staring at the minimap instead of the action.

– Plot, while fairly coherent, is just interesting enough to keep you going.

– Sometimes glitchy animations, both in its movement, and its characters.

Final Score: 4/5.

Briefly: Amiibo hunters and completionists (myself included) were distraught two weeks ago when Target Canada announced that they were shutting down every single store and pulling out of the country barely two weeks ago.

Target, of course, was set to be the exclusive retailer for the Rosalina and Luma Amiibo in North America. Since the announcement, both Nintendo of Canada and Target Canada have been absolutely silent about the exclusivity agreement, until just a few hours ago.

The original report came from Marios-Hat, which stated that “The Rosalina amiibo will be available soon in limited quantities at the following retailers in Canada: Best Buy, Future Shop, Wal-Mart, EB Games, Toys ‘R’ Us and Amazon.ca. Please see your local retailer for more information on timing and availability.”

Now, this particular report wasn’t sourced, but Future Shop soon confirmed via twitter that, yes, the figure was on its way:

Based on the very short notice of the announcement, I’m doubting that we’ll see the character in time for her February 1st release, but it’s simply nice to hear that she’s coming. I’m wondering what stock will be like however, seeing that the stock that was meant for 131 Target stores is now likely being split between Best Buy, Future Shop, Wal-Mart, EB Games, Toys ‘R’ Us, and Amazon. Maybe we’ll get lucky and the big N will just send more.

Briefly: Following that bad-ass trailer from last November, the crazy, genetically engineered dinosaur that will likely be terrorizing the hell out of the Jurassic World theme park has just been revealed.

It’s called Indominus Rex, and here’s its official description from its bio page:

We set out to make Indominus the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World. The genetic engineers at our Hammond Creation Lab have more than delivered.

At first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. Rex. But its distinctive head ornamentation and ultra-tough bony osteoderms can be traced from Theropods known as Abeliosaurs. Indominus’ horns have been placed above the eye orbit through genetic material hybridized from Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus. Fearsome indeed.

Indominus’ roar is estimated to reach 140-160db—the same as a 747 taking off and landing. And it can reach speeds of 50km/h… while confined to its enclosure. Come experience Indominus Rex for yourself beginning this summer. If you dare.

It’s ‘Aggression Index’ is also listed as very high, so it’s probably not very happy, well, ever.

You can head here for more info, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: We’ve got Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, David Tennant as Kilgrave, and now Grey’s Anatomy and Crisis star Rachael Taylor has been cast as Patsy Walker in Marvel / Netflix’s AKA Jessica Jones.

Her official character description reads that “Trish is a syndicated radio talk show host, former model and child TV star known to her adoring fans as “Patsy” Walker. As Jessica Jones’ closest friend, Trish helps her embark on the most dangerous case of Jessica’s career.” Comic fans will also know her as Hellcat.

Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, stated that “Rachael’s ability to embody a character that must balance both the darker and lighter elements of our series will provide a perfect emotional anchor for Jessica Jones. Rachael blew us away with her grounded, humanizing take on Trish, adding yet another layer to the complex, emotional story we’re telling with this series.”

How do you feel about the casting choice? Anyone else you’d rather see in the role? Sound out below!

Briefly: Can it be 8PM already?

It’s Wednesday, so of course I’m stoked for the best wrestling series currently on television. That’s Lucha Underground obviously, and on tonight’s episode Prince Puma’s title is on the line for the second time in just three weeks. That’s some freakin’ pressure.

The El Rey Network premieres the 12th of 39 episodes tonight, and I’m beyond excited to learn whether or not Puma will walk out of his hometown with the title again, or if he’ll be crushed by the man they call Cage.

You can take a look at the exclusive clip below, and be sure to let us know who you’re rooting for! Again, tonight’s episode drops on the El Rey Network at 8PM Eastern!

If you’re looking for more Lucha Underground, check out the series on Facebook and Twitter.

Briefly: Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot just got a release date, and we know know which lucky ladies of Hollywood will be the ones to don the sought-after Proton Packs.

First up, when we can see it:

And now, our starring ladies:

Yep, that’s Bridesmaid‘s Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, along with SNL‘s Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. The script is currently being written by director Paul Feig and The Heat (ugh) scribe Katie Dippold.

Are you down for the all female heroes? How about these females in particular? Sound out below!

Briefly: The long awaited teaser trailer for the controversial and heavily bashed Fantastic Four reboot is finally here… and we (or I , at least) actually kind of dig it (more than that Ant-Man trailer anyways).

The trailer shows our heroes in various facets of life before they become, well, fantastic, and then science happens, things go wrong, and superpowers are gained. It all looks very dark and ominous (which didn’t work for The Amazing Spider-Man, but definitely looks as though it could work here), and I really can’t wait to see more.

I also absolutely loved Josh Trank’s previous film, Chronicle, so this one gets points for having him involved. In any case, this looks nothing like the previous Fantastic Four films, which can only be a good thing (and it really couldn’t be worse, could it?)

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Fantastic Four hits theatres on August 7th!

They’ve also released some interesting commentary along with the trailer:

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Briefly: I’ve been waiting for Techland’s Dying Light for what seems like forever (and basically has been forever due to that delay), but the game finally hits stores tomorrow, and I couldn’t be more excited.

The game focusses on “Kyle Crane, an undercover operative, is sent to the quarantine zone with the mission to locate a high-ranking military officer gone missing. Soon his mission goes sour and Crane is caught in the midst of a desperate fight for survival.” It looks totally gorgeous, and mixes some gorgeous parkour action with gory combat (and some scary looking moments… like every nighttime).

You can take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up. Dying Light hits stores tomorrow, Be on the lookout for our thoughts on the title in the next couple of weeks!

If you’re looking for more Dying Light, we had Kyle Crane’s voice actor, Roger Craig Smith on the show just a couple of weeks ago!

Briefly: A&E has finally released the full trailer for their remake of French series Les Revnants titled The Returned, and it definitely makes me want to check out what the series has to offer.

First of all, the French series has received nothing but critical acclaim, and the US version comes from executive producers Carlton Cuse (LOST, Bates Motel) and Raelle Tucker (True Blood)

Then there’s the freaking cast, with Scott Pilgrim‘s Mary Elizabeth Windstead, Lost‘s Mark Pellegrino, and Six Feet Under‘s Jeremy Sisto starring among a myriad of other names.

The series “focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. As families are reunited, the lives of those who were left behind are challenged on a physical and emotional level. Interpersonal relationships are examined with intrigue and depth as strange phenomena begin to occur.”

Sounds pretty good to me. Though I’m not sure I can wait until its March 9th premiere. If you’re eager, the French series Les Revnants is available for streaming on Netflix. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: As a huge fan of last year’s The Babadook (it was one of my favourite films of 2014), this was too hilarious not to share.

Funny or Die has just released an exclusive interview with Mister Babadook himself, and it’s pretty fantastic (well, the host is a little over-the-top, but other than that it’s golden).

Take a look at the interview below, and let us know if you loved the film as much as I did!

Briefly: The anticipated Marvel & Netflix series Jessica Jones has just found its next cast member.

It’s the tenth Doctor himself, David Tennant, and he joins Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Kristen Ritter as Jessica Jones in the 13 episode drama (and those in the know about the newly casted character surely know that drama is inbound).

Here’s the official series description:

After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City. An enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past, Kilgrave’s reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world.

Jessica Jones is set to premiere on Netflix in 2015. Which Marvel / Netflix collaboration are you most looking forward to?

Briefly: So I had no idea that this existed until today, and now I can’t wait to watch the entire thing in one sitting.

It’s called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, it’s from 30 Rock executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, and it’s a “new comedy series starring Ellie Kemper (“The Office,” “Bridesmaids”) as a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult and starts life over as a nanny for an Upper East Side socialite (Jane Krakowski from “30 Rock”) in New York City. Armed with just a backpack, light-up sneakers and a couple way-past-due library books, she takes on a world she didn’t think even existed anymore.”

It looks super adorable, and super funny, and a little bit like a modern day Blast from the Past. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! The entire first season hits Netflix on March 6th!

Briefly: Crackle has finally released the first trailer for its Dead Rising: Watchtower original film, and if you’re a fan of the video game series at all, it’s actually pretty cool.

The trailer is filled with nods and references to the game that even one who has only lightly played them (like myself) will get a few chuckles from it.

The movie “takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story’s narrative.”

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be checking out Dead Rising: Watchtower when it hits on March 27th!

The episode is titled ‘The Lost Lords’, and it will debut on PC, Mac, PS3, and PS4 on February 3rd, Xbox 360 and Xbox One of February 4th, and iOS and Android devices on February 5th.

The game “tells the story of House Forrester. Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, they are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom.”

Briefly: NBC has just released the trailer for Hannibal‘s anticipated third season.

You’ll have to wait until Summer for the season premiere (it was pushed a few months back), but the trailer certainly offers an exciting taste of what to come. This first footage shows Will hunting Doctor Lecter through Florence.

Gah, I cannot wait for this to come back. How do you feel? How about that second season? Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: The project won a huge series commitment all the way back in September, and now we finally know who will play CBS and Warner Bros Television’s Supergirl.

It’s Glee and Whiplash actress Melissa Benoist. She landed her breakout role in Glee‘s ‘second class’ as Marley Rose, and was later cast in roles in Homeland and Oscar-nominee Whiplash, among others.

The series will focus on Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, who also escaped Krypton before it exploded. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

The series comes from Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler, who previously teamed up for ABC’s short-lived (and fantastic) No Ordinary Family.

Are you down for the casting? Is there anyone else you’d rather have seen in the role? Sound out below!

Briefly: We’ve been waiting patiently since its reveal in September, and today we finally learned just when we’ll be able to check out Sony’s adaptation of Powers.

Powers is “follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals? Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the only people brave enough to go up against the overpaid, commercialized, superhumans who glide through the sky imposing their power over the crowds below who both worship and fear them.”

It’s based on the Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming series which I’ve heard nothing but good things about but haven’t actually read (I’ll give the ‘it’s on the list’ excuse), but I’ll watch anything with the fantastic Sharlto Copley in it, and here he plays one of our main characters, Christian Walker.

Sony revealed today (via the official Playstation blog) that the series will premiere its first three episodes on March 10th, with an additional episode coming every Tuesday until it closes its 10-episode first season. The pilot will be available to all (at least US, Sony hasn’t clarified international) PSN users for free, while Playstation Plus members will be able to watch the entire season.

Are you looking forward to the adaptation? What do you think of Playstation getting into original content? Sound out below!

Briefly: Now I haven’t exactly watched this trailer as I’m way behind on The Walking Dead (though AMC themselves did give me that terrible spoiler), but it’s probably something that I should get on seeing as the series returns for the remainder of its fifth season in just a few more weeks.

It’s a short new teaser, but it’s probably exciting as hell seeing as we’re getting very close to the show coming back. Take a look below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: I joined the Borderlands camp way too late, ignoring countless recommendations from friends until long after Borderlands 2 was old news. Then I finally played it at a LAN Party, and was hooked for weeks (or months… a long time in any case).

I first played the game on a laptop, and after playing the title with a keyboard and mouse it would be very hard for me to transition to a controller, but in any case the just-announced Borderlands: The Handsome Collection looks more than intriguing… especially that collector’s edition. And yes, I get that this is yet another remaster of an older game(s) on two console that already have far too many remasters.

The Handsome Collection hits PS4 and Xbox One on March 24th (in the US, international is March 27th), and includes remasters of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. For the first time (and this is probably the most exciting part) both games will offer four-player local split screen multiplayer, so you can actually play the damned thing on the same couch as the people you’re playing with. Not bad, huh?

You can even transfer your saved games from the last-gem versions.

The Handsome Collection will launch for $59.99, and will also include all of the vast amounts of DLC for both titles. 2K has also revealed a pretty substantial Claptrap-in-a-box edition. Here’s what they had to say about it:

The Handsome Collection will also receive an extremely limited collector’s edition, the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition. Limited to only 5,000 units worldwide, the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition includes a remote-controlled Claptrap steward robot that looks just like the in-game character! He is designed and detailed to look just like the Claptrap you know and love – or maybe hate – and now you have the power to control him from your iOS and/or Android device with a companion app called ClaptrApp. The remote controlled Claptrap also includes the following features:

– Gyro technology to balance on one wheel allowing it to move wherever you want him to!
– Voice samples of some of Claptrap’s most iconic lines that can be activated on command!
– A real working camera in his “eye” that is streamed to your mobile phone, so you can see where Claptrap is headed!

The Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition also includes 12 exclusive Vault Hunter lithographs as well as a collectible steel case and will be available for $399 at selected retailers. Act fast, because these things won’t last long! The Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition will be available at participating retailers in North America as well as internationally.

And it looks just as cool as it sounds:

Briefly: Better get spending those coins, as Nintendo’s beloved Club Nintendo won’t be around for much longer.

The loyalty program will begin spinning down before closing forever on July 1st. At that point, all accounts and unused coins will be deleted. Here’s what the big N had to say about the announcement:

Thank you for your continued loyalty to Nintendo.

We launched Club Nintendo 6 years ago in North America, and we’re grateful for all of the feedback that our members have provided on your experiences with our products.

In order to focus on planning for a new customer loyalty program for our fans, we’ve decided to wind-down the Club Nintendo program. We are deeply thankful to our members for being a part of Club Nintendo for all of these years.

We will share details about our new program at a later date. For now, please see the schedule below for information on the discontinuation timeframe for Club Nintendo.

All Coins will be deleted when Club Nintendo accounts are closed on July 1, 2015. As a result, to give our members the best opportunity to use their Coins, we will add dozens of downloadable games and a limited quantity of exclusive reward items to the rewards catalog in February. In addition, as a small token of appreciation for your loyalty, all Club Nintendo members will receive a free download code for Flipnote Studio 3D in February 2015. Please visit here for information on the software and how to get the download code.

Sad news for sure, but there’s definitely a silver lining here: a new rewards program will take its place at some point. I’m not really a FlipNote fan myself, but if the eventual new program can keep things in stock for more than a few minutes, I’m definitely down for the switch.

Here’s the schedule for the shutdown:

1/20/2015 – Products released after this date are not eligible for registration with Club Nintendo

3/31/2015 – Last day to earn Coins, register products with Club Nintendo, and sign up for new Club Nintendo membership

6/30/2015 – Last day to redeem Coins or access your account on the Club Nintendo website. Club Nintendo program shuts down at 11:59pm PT on 6/30/2015.

You can read the entire announcement here, and be sure to let us know what you think of the news. My take on the announcement? Sure, it’s unfortunate that they’re shutting down, but they also gave us a great six years while those other guys had no program at all.

Thanks for all the memories (and sweet rewards), Nintendo.

Briefly: S0 it turns out that the leaked Deadpool test reel was the best thing that could have possibly happened to the project.

Ryan Reynolds confirmed that it was finally Chimichanga Time back in December, and according to Global News, it sounds as though the project is on a bit of a fast track, as they state that Deadpool will begin filming in Ryan’s hometown of Vancouver this March. Yep, just a couple of months from now. They better get moving, as the Tim Miller directed picture is slated for February 2016.

No other casting has been revealed, and we certainly don’t know what the movie’s about, but we’re pretty danged excited. Bask in the glory of the test reel (again) below, and be sure to let us know if you’re excited!

Briefly: Nintendo just released a new trailer for next month’s (I know right) The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, this time around showing off the different masks that Link will be wearing in game, and showing off just how well the game has translated to the 3DS.

As someone who has never experienced Majora’s Mask (I believe it’s the only Zelda title that I haven’t played), I couldn’t be more excited to get my hands on this one. It looks like an extremely unique experience, and the fact that I can play it on the go means that I’m going to power through it.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and be sure to keep your eyes on Geekscape (and your ears on Geekscape Games) for more The Legend of Zelda news! This one hits your (new or old) 3DS on February 13th!
