Briefly: Sigh.

Were you looking forward to playing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on March 18th (after accepting that you wouldn’t be playing it this holiday season, that is)?

Well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news (again), but that’s simply not happening.

The impressive looking title has just received another, thankfully shorter delay, and will not be making its previously announced March 18th release date.

The reveal came via Playstation’s official blog, where Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann stated:

This is our largest Uncharted, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the game’s development in a timely manner. However, as we started to approach our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game’s levels, we realised that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line.

After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing).

Pushing the date is not an easy choice, and we wouldn’t do it if we didn’t feel in our hearts it’s the best course of action for the game. To you, our loyal fans, we hope you’ll accept our sincere apology. We know many of you have been waiting patiently for Nathan Drake’s final chapter, and now we humbly ask you to wait a bit longer.

These multiple delays seem to happen more often than not these days, but at least we’re bound to get an excellend title when Uncharted 4 finally does release. The game is now set for an April 26th release, and it better. freaking. make. it.

Disappointed? Sound out in the comments below!

Briefly: Ready for more silly, yet effective marketing for next year’s Deadpool?

Yeah you are.

20th Century Fox has just debuted the IMAX trailer and poster for the anticipated film. The trailer is short, but hilarious at any time of the day, which was made clear by the uproarious laughter of the entire audience in my 6:00AM IMAX showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Take a look at the poster and trailer below, and let us know what you hope to see in the final film! Deadpool hits (North American) theatres on February 12th!

Briefly: I’m still having fun driving Tim Burton’s Batmobile around in Batman: Arkham Knight, and now Rocksteady has gone and dropped a ton of new DLC on us, just in time for the holidays!

The game’s latest expansion, ‘Season of Infamy: Most Wanted’ is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (yes, the PC version is available again), Season Pass holders right now, and it’s also available to purchase separately. The expansion actually sounds fairly substantial (especially in comparison to some of Arkham Knight‘s other DLC), so if you’re at or nearing full completion with the title, this latest update should definitely give you a reason to pick the title up again.

In the expansion, you’ll fight back against The Dark Knight’s biggest foes in four separate missions, with all new story arcs featuring DC Comics characters The Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, Ra’s Al Ghul and Mr. Freeze. Here are a few details on each mission:

-Wonderland: The Mad Hatter makes things personal as the Super-Villain lures Batman into a demented, hallucinatory battle of wits across Gotham City and within the pages of a twisted story book.

-Beneath The Surface: The World’s Greatest Detective and Nightwing venture out to investigate Iron Heights, a flying airship prison that housed Killer Croc, after it crashed in the waters surrounding Gotham City.

-Shadow War: Picking up after the events of Batman: Arkham City, Batman’s devout moral code is pushed to its limits as Ra’s Al Ghul’s health rebounds with the help of the League of Assassins.

-In From The Cold: Mr. Freeze returns to Gotham City, where he is immediately entrapped in Arkham Knight’s Militia and Scarecrow’s plan to destroy Batman. Arkham Knight’s Militia has kidnapped Nora and will return her to Mr. Freeze in exchange for Batman’s capture.

A myriad of other content and skins are also available now (including some free updates)! Here’s the rest of Arkham Knight‘s December content:

-Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #5: Combat and invisible predator maps featuring Batman, the Batmobile, Nightwing, Azrael,

-2008 Movie Batman Skin: Patrol the streets of Gotham City with this Batsuit inspired by the 2008 movie “The Dark Knight”.

-Original Arkham Batmobile: Seize control from Gotham City’s most notorious villains with the original Arkham Asylum Batmobile.

-Rocksteady Themed Batmobile Skin: Customize the legendary Batmobile with this unique Rocksteady themed skin.

-Batman: Noel Skin: Face your foes with this reinforced leather suit from the Batman: Noel comic (previously a DC Comics exclusive).

Free Updates:

-Batsuit v8.05 – Prestige Edition: Players can access this suit after reaching 240% game completion.

-Classic Harley Quinn Skin: Players who own the Harley Quinn Story Pack or Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #5 can select this Harley Skin, which can be used in the Harley Story Pack or in AR Challenges, from the character showcase.

-Arkham Knight Skin: Players who own the Red Hood Story Pack can select this skin from the character showcase for Red Hood, allowing them to look like the Arkham Knight in the Red Hood Story Pack and AR Challenges.

Of course, reading all of that isn’t nearly as fun as watching it all in action, so take a look at the trailer below! Again, all of this content is available right now!

Are you planning to pick up ‘Season of Infamy: Most Wanted’? As negative as my Geekscape Games coworkers have been about Arkham Knight throughout the year, I’ve been having an absolute blast with what I’ve played from the title! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Briefly: I still can’t believe that it’s even happening, but Netflix has just debuted the very first teaser for next year’s Fuller House.

As a child born in 1990, Full House was a staple in my household, and watching the series daily (and probably having no idea what was going on because I was so freaking young) remains one of my earliest memories. That said, I don’t really remember the original series these days, and have avoided checking it out again for fears that it simply won’t hold up (ever try to watch Saved By The Bell as an adult?).

Just last week saw the series’ first teaser trailer, which hit me in the nostalgia bone so hard that I’ve actually been losing sleep due to the Full House theme song being so embedded into my brain.

Netflix has just debuted another teaser for the upcoming series, this time around featuring Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber, whipping and nae-naeing in front of a green screen. It’s a bit… weird, but not as weird as living in a world where it’s nearly 2016 and Full House is being continued.

Take a look below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: There’s no denying that Alejandro González Iñarritu The Revenant looks phenomenal, and it’s arguably (from the limited footage that we’ve seen thus far) the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous film that we’ll see this year.

Early buzz for the film has been unanimously spectacular, with essentially the entire internet saying that this is finallythe year that Leo gets his Oscar.

A new featurette for the film has just debuted online, which is insanely interesting, and goes deeper into some of the heavy themes from the anticipated film.

Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. THE REVENANT is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award® winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, Babel).

Take a look at the new featurette below, and let us know what you think! The Revenant hits (some) theatres on December 25th, and goes wide on January 8th!

Briefly: I’m still reeling over the creepy-as-hell Weeping Angels Easter-Egg from last month, and Activision has already gone ahead and revealed the very first map pack for its insanely popular (and apparently fantastic) Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

Activision revealed back in October that this latest Call of Duty offering would receive four Map Packs over its lifetime, and the just-announced Black Ops III: Awakening will drop on February 2nd (at least on Playstation, Xbox One owners will have to wait a little longer this time around). The package includes four new maps, as well as a World War II set Zombies campaign, which will probably be a freaking blast (from the little that I’ve played, Zombies is pretty stellar this time around). The maps this time around are Skyjacked (a reimagining of “Hijacked” from Black Ops 2), Gauntlet, Splash, and Rise.

As usual, the package will cost a cool $14.99, or you can pick up the season pass for $49.99.

February is still a ways off, so for now you’ll have to settle for a DLC trailer detailing just what we can expect when Call of Duty: Black Ops III Awakening finally hits your console (or computer) of choice. Take a look below, and let us know what you think!

Yeah, that looks pretty freaking cool.

Awakening

Briefly: Ready for more silly, yet effective marketing for next year’s Deadpool?

Yeah you are.

20th Century Fox has just debuted a new, holiday-themed poster for the anticipated film. Looks like he’s adapted the terrible (and hilarious) ugly sweater trend.

That said, I would absolutely love to own this sweater.

It’s crazy just how hard this first teaser hits you in the nostalgia bone. I haven’t really thought about Full House in years, yet the moment that this video starts, the classic theme again entered my mind, and hasn’t left it since. It’s a cute teaser that shows us a familiar dwelling, and some familiar voices, before revealing that the series will debut on February 26th (my birthday, woo).

You can take a look at the first Fuller House teaser below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

https://youtu.be/uhInIOKwGXU

The house is full again. Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber are back in Fuller House – coming to Netflix February 26.

The Full House adventures continue when D.J. Tanner-Fuller calls upon her sister, Stephanie, and her friend, Kimmy, to move in and help raise her three boys.

Briefly: Just yesterday we were given our first official look at Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in next year’s Ghostbusters, and less than 24 hours later we’ve received another look via these slick new character posters.

The images definitely show off a darker tone than what we’re used to with the franchise, though with the film’s star-studded comedic cast, we’re pretty much guaranteed plenty of laughs throughout its runtime.

In any case, you can take a look at the gorgeous images below, and be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to Ghostbusters. The film hits theatres on July 22nd.

Briefly: Following that exciting-as-hell first trailer late last month, and the stylish key art from a few weeks back, the CW has just unveiled a batch of character posters for next year’s Legends Of Tomorrow.

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Victor Garber (The Flash, Alias); Brandon Routh (Arrow, Superman Returns); Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who); Caity Lotz (Arrow); Ciarra Renee (Pippin); Franz Drameh (Edge of Tomorrow); with Dominic Purcell (The Flash, Prison Break); and Wentworth Miller (The Flash, Prison Break).

Take a look at the images below, rewatch the first trailer here, and let us know how excited you are for the January 21st premiere!

The world went wild earlier this year when the cast for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot was revealed. Wild, as in, showered Feig, the cast, and the idea with boatloads of praise… and buttloads of hate. Here at Geekscape we generally try to reserve judgement until we actually see a finished product, but what do we know anyways?

In any case, since Chris Hemsworth joined the project back in June, we haven’t heard much from the Ghostbusters camp.

Today, the team was officially revealed with this amazing cast photo.

Ghostbusters

Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will play Jillian Holtzmann, Erin Gilbert, Abby Yates, and Patty Tolan, and they look absolutely fabulous.

Are you looking forward to the film? Still feeling reserved? Sound out below! Ghostbusters hits theatres on July 22nd!

Briefly: Following the explosive new trailer from earlier this month, Warner Bros. has just debuted four new character posters for next year’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

There’s a new poster for Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, with another one-sheet focusing on the trio. Aquaman and the other four thousand (hyperbole) characters that are set to debut in the film, however, are still nowhere to be seen.

You can take a look at each image below, and be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to the feature. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theatres on March 25th!

Briefly: After the stellar San Diego Comic-Con footage was officially released back in July, most of the internet essentially stopped hating on next Springs’s Suicide Squad.

Warner Bros. has been pretty quiet about the project since that time (and was understandably upset that the footage leaking in the first place, but has just released the full synopsis for the upcoming project. Take a gander below:

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Need a reminder of just how cool Suicide Squad looks? Take another look at the trailer below.

Excited? Suicide Squad hits theatres August 5th!

Briefly: There’s no denying that Alejandro González Iñarritu The Revenant looks phenomenal, and it’s arguably (from the limited footage that we’ve seen thus far) the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous film that we’ll see this year.

Early buzz for the film has been unanimously spectacular, with essentially the entire internet saying that this is finally the year that Leo gets his Oscar.

The very first clip from the film has made its way online, and it shows off more of the same perplexing beauty that we’ve seen from the rest of the film’s marketing. While I didn’t love Alejandro’s Birdmanthe Revenant looks like something incredibly special.

Briefly: Gotham won’t return to FOX until February, but the network has already debuted a new look at Mr. Freeze in the upcoming second half of season two.

Now, I’m not exactly caught up on Gotham, so I’m actually avoiding teasers like this at this point, but shortly following the series’ Winter finale, Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller let TVLine know a little about what to expect from the character, noting that “He absolutely has an agenda. We’re telling the Freeze story in classic style, from its origins. What you saw there is the “beta test.” It’s very early on in the story of Mr. Freeze.”

In any case, you can take a look at the new teaser below (US residents only, sorry world), and let us know what you’re excited to see when Gotham returns!

https://youtu.be/osv4LJtx1LY

The good. The evil. The beginning.

The origin story continues on GOTHAM: RISE OF THE VILLAINS and the stakes are higher than ever, as Super Villains more ambitious and depraved are introduced, and a realignment of alliances shakes up the fight for power in Gotham City.

Detective JIM GORDON (Ben McKenzie) and the ethically questionable veteran Detective HARVEY BULLOCK (Donal Logue) remain at the forefront of the fight against crime in this dangerously corrupt city. While confronting Gotham’s most notorious criminals, Gordon’s moral compass begins to waver. But he is taken under the wing of NATHANIEL BARNES (Michael Chiklis), a law-and-order zealot who is unafraid of making enemies. Meanwhile, Gordon continues his quest to gain the trust of the young BRUCE WAYNE (David Mazouz), who is on a clear path towards the man he is destined to become, after discovering his father’s deepest secrets, with the help of his trusted butler and mentor, ALFRED PENNYWORTH (Sean Pertwee) and newfound ally at Wayne Enterprises, LUCIUS FOX (Chris Chalk).

Briefly: After a long and tumultuous 2015, it appears that the lengthy battle between Konami and Hideo Kojima is now over.

Based on a new repot from Japanese financial publication Nikkei, as of December 15th, Kojima has officially parted ways with Konami, and already has plans to open up a new studio. According to the reports, he’s already in talks with Sony Computer Entertainment in regards to publishing whatever he and his new team crafts next.

Of course, fans and gamers everywhere are still essentially in the dark in regards to what happened between Kojima and Konami. Back in March, Kojima Productions branding was removed from essentially all Metal Gear products. The very next month Silent Hills was cancelled and I’m still crying about it, and just a few weeks back Konami legally prevented Kojima from attending The Game Awards.

Hopefully it’s greener grasses for Kojima and friends from here on out. We’ll fill you in on any further Kojima-related news as it comes in.

UPDATE: And, he’s officially working with Sony, and has formed a new iteration of Kojima Productions. I can’t even contain my excitement.

Briefly: Are you ready to return to the Wizarding World?

Warner Bros. today released the very first trailer for next year’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and while I’m not overly familiar with the property (or most of Harry Potter, actually), I have to say that this teaser has certainly piqued my interest.

Of course, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a text that Harry (and friends) read in school, and the film takes us back to 1926 New York to show us how the book’s author, Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, finds, loses, and finds the creatures again.

Take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see in the feature. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theatres on November 18th, 2016.

Briefly: It may not be quite as cute as Yoshi’s Woolly World, but it’s pretty damned close.

We fell in love with Yarny back at E3, but EA has just debuted a brand new trailer for the game which 1. deepens said love for Yarny, and 2. gives us a freaking release date.

The trailer also gives us some insight onto Unravel‘s plot, which I can’t wait to untangle (ha) when the game launches.

Unravel will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and as we’ve just learned, it’s just a few months away. The game is set to arrive on February 9th, 2016, so you’ll just have to watch the below trailer to get your fill of totes adorbs until then.

Take a look at the new trailer, and let us know if you’ll be picking this up!

Briefly: The very first trailer for X-Men Apocalypse launched earlier today, and probably stopped the Apocalypse / Ivan Ooze comparisons for good.

Seriously, the character looks astonishingly powerful, and with Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) on his side (among others) it’s going to be an impossibly tough battle for McAvoy’s Xavier and company.

If that bad-ass trailer wasn’t enough, Fox has just debuted a stunning new poster for the film, which features an angry Apocalypse crushing… what else but a human skull.

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Take a look at the new poster below, and let us know if you’re excited for the film!

Briefly: I’ve been a huge fan of Telltale Games’ star-studded Minecraft: Story Mode thus far (keep up with my ongoing thoughts about the title here), and I was ecstatic when the publisher surprised us with the game’s second episode just a few weeks after releasing its premiere worldwide (and the third episode just a few weeks after that).

Today, Telltale revealed that the game’s fourth episode, titled ‘A Block and a Hard Place’ is also set to release rather quickly, and will hit worldwide on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS and Android on December 22nd.

In Episode Four, with the fearsome Wither Storm more dangerous than ever, Jesse, Reuben, and the crew discover there is one thing that can destroy the command block at the heart of the monster – but they’ll need to brave the perils of the Farlands to find it. As uneasy allies and ailing friends threaten to tear the group apart, can they defeat the Wither Storm in their final battle? And what sacrifices must be made to succeed? Find out in Episode Four’s epic ‘Wither Storm Finale’ that will turn the page on one chapter, before adventures may begin anew…

Episode five is set for 2016.

The game features a pretty incredible voice cast, starring Patton Oswalt as male Jesse, Catherine Taber as female Jesse, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, John Hodgman, and Paul Reubens.

You can take a look at the first screenshots from ‘A Block and a Hard Place’ below, and let us know if you’re excited to play!

So, what are you surprised to see on the list? What are you surprised was left off? Sound out below!

Where’s Ex Machina?

Briefly: Just a few hours ago, I learned that The Legend of Tarzan existed with the launch of its first poster. With Alexander Skarsgård starring in the picture, I have no idea how it’s eluded me for so long. Not to mention the rest of the cast, which includes Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, and Djimon Hounsou, among others!

The first trailer for the film has just launched, and it looks damned cool.

In the film, It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! The Legend of Tarzan hits theatres on July 1st!

Briefly: Today I learned that a new Tarzan film is in the works.

And with Alexander Skarsgård starring in the picture, I have no idea how it’s eluded me for so long. The film also stars Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, and Djimon Hounsou.

Take a look at the poster below, and let us know what you think! The Legend of Tarzan hits theatres on July 1st!

Tarzan

Briefly: Following the film’s latest TV spot (which I still haven’t watched) from just yesterday, Disney has officially debuted a new character poster for its upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

This time, it features everyone’s new favourite character in the entire franchise, the adorable ball droid BB-8.

BB8

Yep. Cute as hell.

I swear that each and every time I see a picture of the little guy, it makes it even harder to not buy the incredible Sphero BB-8 toy.

In any case, can you believe that we’re just nine days away from the release? How freaking excited are you? Sound out below!

Briefly: This we did not see coming.

After years and years of fans begging desperately for another entry in the venerable System Shock series (plus years and years of rights issues preventing a new entry from happening), System Shock 3 is finally about to be announced.

Otherside Entertainment has posted a countdown teaser on this page, which currently displays two ‘S’es, and timer with 5 days remaining in its runtime. I’d imagine a 3rd ‘S’ will reveal itself over time. At this point, it looks completely separate from developer Night Dive’s incoming remake of the original title.

They may have jumped the gun however, as this page with a full System Shock 3 logo has also gone live.

This is very exciting. I haven’t actually had an opportunity to play the System Shock series, and in fact only learned about its importance once the first Bioshock released back in 2007. I can’t even imagine how fans are feeling right now, especially as Otherside Entertainment is composed of several Looking Glass Studios alum.

In any case, there’s not really anything to say about the title at this point aside from the fact that it’s finally happening, so be sure to check back in 5 days for all of the details on the System Shock 3 reveal!

Briefly: It’s about time.

Capcom officially revealed the upcoming HD Remaster of Resident Evil 0 back in June, and aside from a couple of trailers and some screenshots, the publisher has been fairly quiet about the redux up to this point.

Today, Capcom revealed the game’s release date, along with some of the oddball costumers coming for pre-order customers.

Being a survival horror fan who missed out Resident Evil up to this point (and also a gamer who thoroughly enjoyed the remaster of Resident Evil), I’m pretty excited to see where the series chronologically began.

The Resident Evil 0 HD remaster will hit Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC on January 19th. 2016, and you can bet your undead ass that we’re excited to play it.

You can take a look at the costumes trailer below, and be sure to let us know if you’ll be giving Resident Evil 0 a download.

Briefly: Following last week’s announcement that its second season premiere would be delayed by two weeks, iTunes has exclusively debuted the very first clip from Agent Carter‘s upcoming second season.

The clip features Jarvis teaching the just-arrived Peggy all about life in California. Sure, it doesn’t offer too much insight into what to expect this season, but we’re bound to see more clips before the January premiere.

The upcoming second season stars Hayley Atwell in the titular role of the unstoppable secret agent for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve). Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home–and perhaps even a new love–she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.

Take a look at the clip below, and let us know what you think! Agent Carter premieres on January 19th!

Briefly: I’ve been itching to re-watch Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak since the very moment that the credits started rolling during my screening. The film shows off depth and beauty like only a Del Toro picture can, and the film’s unfortunate theatrical marketing had many moviegoers ignore the film as it simply looked like a B-horror film.

It’s not a horror at all, and it’s one of my favourite films of 2015. Jonathan and I talked about the film on Geekscape back in September, and I can’t wait to watch it again when it hits Blu-Ray on February 9th.

I’m a sucker for special features, and the Crimson Peak Blu-Ray won’t disappoint in that department, either. Here are the Blu-Ray exclusive features:

-I Remember Crimson Peak: A series of interviews with director Guillermo del Toro and his standout cast, Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain.

-A Living Thing: An army of artisans was amassed to construct the Sharpe mansion on North America’s largest soundstage. Witness first-hand and in great detail the construction of Del Toro’s most elaborate set to date.

-A Primer on Gothic Romance: Employing his encyclopedic knowledge and passion for the genre, Guillermo del Toro traces the lineage of Gothic Romance in cinema. Using Crimson Peak as the basis, Del Toro outlines the history of cinematic terror and illuminates the differences between traditional scares and elevated horror.

-Crimson Phantoms: Del Toro’s approach to make-up effects is discussed by award-winning effects house DDT. In this piece, they offer an exclusive look inside their workshop, where they deconstruct the creation of the film’s most disturbing prosthetic effects. The discussion delves into the mythology of these elegant creatures and how Del Toro’s belief in the supernatural informed the design and narrative of the ghosts

-Hand Tailored Gothic: Costume designer Kate Hawley unravels her collaboration with Del Toro and reveals the symbolism constantly at play in the wardrobe’s design.

And the features that will be found on the DVD and Blu-Ray:

-Deleted Scenes

-The Light and Dark of Crimson Peak: Crimson Peak offers a stylized turn of the century with carefully crafted visuals that provide the perfect backdrop for Del Toro’s brand of psychological horror. Follow the phases of production to discover a booming America and a dark and removed England portrayed with a multi-layered sophistication unlike any seen in recent cinema.

-Beware Of Crimson Peak: Tom Hiddleston (Sir Thomas Sharpe) offers a walking tour of the many secret spaces in Allerdale Hall.

-Feature Commentary with co-writer and Director Guillermo Del Toro

Del Toro’s films are always ripe with amazing symbolism, and I cannot wait to hear what he has to say on the film’s commentary track.

Re-watch the Crimson Peak trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the release!

Briefly: I stopped watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens marketing a long time ago (ha ha), but if you’re interested, Disney has just released the 4000th TV spot for the upcoming film.

Yes, they’ve been doing a phenomenal job marketing the film (and selling me stuff), but I’ll be happy to head into the film in just a couple of weeks knowing nearly nothing about it.

In any case, the new spot is subtitled ‘Secret’, and is embedded below for your viewing pleasure. Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theatres on December 18th!

Briefly: We’ve heard plenty of rumours as of late that the still-a-ways-off Marvel / Netflix collaboration Marvel’s Iron Fist was at risk of not happening at all, or simply becoming a Netflix original film instead.

Of course, those rumors were unsubstantiated, and look to be completely false, seeing as Marvel just announced the series’ showrunner.

Here’s the official announcement from Marvel.com:

The Netflix Original Series “Marvel’s Iron Fist” has found its showrunner and Executive Producer in Scott Buck (“Dexter,” “Six Feet Under”)!

Buck previously served as Executive Producer and showrunner of “Dexter” for the series’ final four years. He has also written for “Six Feet Under” and “Rome,” among other series.

“Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”

“I’ve always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters, and that’s what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and “Iron Fist” to life with Marvel on Netflix,” said Buck.

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist” is the fourth series as part of an overall deal between Marvel Television and Netflix, which has already released the critically-acclaimed first seasons of “Marvel’s Daredevil” and “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” with “Marvel’s Luke Cage” premiering in 2016. All four heroes will then unite in the mini-series event “Marvel’s The Defenders.”

It’s a little bit tough to know just how to feel about this one. Marvel and Netflix have not let us down yet in this collaboration, and in fact, Daredevil and Jessica Jones have quickly become some of the very best projects that Marvel has ever produced. In this case, from the press release, Buck was the ‘showrunner of Dexter for the series’ final four years’.

Dexter’s final season is also know as (and I may be speaking hyperbolically, but I digress) one of the very worst final seasons of any television show that I’m even remotely familiar with.

But instead of hating, I’ll just be excited. Who would have thought that we’d ever see an Iron Fist anything, and Marvel and Netflix clearly see something in Buck, who would have been selected from a myriad of other potential showrunners.

In any case, I’m just going to sit here and wait for Jonathan and Ian’s in-depth conversation about last month’s Jessica Jones to finally happen,  because Iron Fist is still a long way off.

Are you looking forward to the series? How do you feel about this showrunner announcement? Sound out below!
