Here Are The Nominations For The 2015 Golden Globes!

Today I learned that The Martian was a Comedy / Musical.

In all seriousness though, the Golden Globe nominations for 2015 have been revealed, and its damned clear that it’s going to be a tight race this year. It was another amazing year for television and cinema, and while there are certainly some surprises on this list, I really, really can’t wait to see who takes home the gold.

Could it finally be Leo’s year? Will Fury Road win Best Picture? What’s going to happen!? I guess we’ll find out when the Ricky Gervais-hosted ceremony airs on January 10th!

Here Are Your 86th Annual Academy Award Nominees!

Briefly: Following yesterday’s fitting Razzie nominations, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the nominees for the 86th Annual Academy Awards.

As always, there are a ton of amazing films on this list, and as always, there are people and movies that are ‘snubbed’ or left off of certain categories. For me, I’d have loved to see Tom Hanks on that list for his tearjerking performance in Captain Phillips, but in looking at the list of nominees, there isn’t a single performance that I’d trade for his. Plus, we all know that Matthew Mcconaughey is going to (and should) win anyways.

That’s it for nominations! I’m also surprised (and shocked) that both Iron Man 3 and The Lone Ranger were nominated for Best Visual Effects, and that Pacific Rim was not. Also that the Academy thinks that The Croods is better than Monsters University.

Here Are The Golden Globe 2013 Nominations!

With less than a month to go until the ceremony, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has revealed the nominees for this years Golden Globes ceremony. The show will air live on January 13, and is guaranteed to offer rich people in expensive outfits, and some entertainment too!

64th Primetime Emmy Nominations Announced

The 2012 Emmy nominations were announced earlier today, reminding me, at the very least, how much good television I missed out on this year and hope to catch up on before the actual ceremony. Of those nominated, AMC’s perennial Mad Men received 17 nominations (meaning it could potentially be the most lauded TV drama of all time), as did American Horror Story (which, apparently, was a mini-series?).

Also on the list of nominated shows is the controversial Girls. I’ve not watched it, but people seem to either love or hate it. I’ve yet to meet someone who say it was just, “Meh.”

Among the actors and actresses nominated are returning champions Peter Dinklage for his role on Game of Thrones and Jim Parsons for his work on The Big Bang Theory. If you run through the nominated lists for actors and actresses in mini-series and TV movies, you’ll find film mainstays like Julianne Moore (Game Change), Nicole Kidman (Hemingway & Gelhorn), Kevin Costner (Hatfields and McCoys), and Clive Owen (Hemingway & Gelhorn), among others.

And, thanks to PBS Masterpiece Theatre, across-the-pond favorite Benedict Cumberpatch managed a nomination for his titular role in Sherlock, in the episode A Scandal In Belgravia. It’s in the mini-series and movie category, so I guess someone thought it was a movie (or are they presenting it as such on Masterpiece? I’ve been watching it on the BBC. ‘Cause I’m fancy.)

Notably missing from the nominations, however, are The Walking Dead and geek favorite Community. I am personally bummed that Jack Gleeson didn’t receive a nomination for his role on Game of Thrones, but no one loves you when you’re evil.

Are there any shows you missed and now plan to check out? I definitely plan to catch up on HBO’s Hemingway & Gelhorn (which I meant to see when it first aired), and History’s Hatfields and McCoys, and catch up on the rest of my favorite, Mad Men.
