Yet another Justice League movie rumor has surfaced. According to Latino Review, the same source that recently revealed that Darkseid would be the villain the in DC Comics team-film, has revealed a new piece of information about the film. Word is that the screenplay written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) is being influenced by a particular Justice League storyline from the 1980’s that took place in issues #183-185 of Justice League Of America.

The story, which was written by Gerry Conway and drawn by George Perez, saw the JLA team-up with the Justice Society Of America and involves Darkseid “planning the destruction of Earth by blasting it with a ray that’ll move Apokolips into the Earth’s place”. Wait, Justice League: Dark Of The Moon? Yes, that was a Transformers joke.

There’s currently no word as far as just how much the screenplay will take from the storyline, and at the moment it’s still a rumor. The source is usually fairly reliable, but have been known to get debunked here and there. And it’s pretty surprising that they wouldn’t just pursue the recent New 52’s first story arc for Justice League, which would be a perfect and easy introduction to all of the characters, and would choose to pursue such an obscure storyline. Let’s see how this one works out.

After news of a screenwriter being attached to a third Tron film, the question arose if we would be seeing any of the cast of Tron: Legacy return for the film. It’s now been confirmed that Garrett Hedlund, who starred as Sam Flynn in the film, will be returning to reprise his role and star in the third chapter in the franchise.

Hedlund himself confirmed this while speaking about his movie On The Road. When asked if he would be returning to star in the next film Hedlund responded:

“Yeah. Are we gonna break this now? Disney’s very excited. That’s about that. You know, yeah, I’m very excited, Disney’s very excited.”

Jesse Wigutow is currently in negotiations to write the script with Joseph Kosinski, who directed Tron: Legacy, returning to direct. There is no word if any of the other cast members will be returning but production is rumored to begin in 2014.

This week “marked” the mid-season finale of The CW’s Arrow, don’t worry it will only be off the air for a month, and we saw quite arguably the most interesting episode of the series yet. Oliver Queen finds himself confronted by a Dark Archer taking some quite deadly measures to get the attention of the character while The Queens hold a Christmas party and we see Moira try to push Walter off his investigation into “the list”.

This is a return to form for the series after a few not-so-great episodes. We get a return to the flashbacks that were missing over the past two episodes and learn more about what really happened on the island. Oh, and does that included more Deathstroke? Oh yes, indeed it does. Did you the Yao Fei versus Deathstroke fight leave you wanting more? Well, you’re getting it! The episode has plenty of action to keep you  happy after the last few episodes seemed to really lack in that department.

“Year’s End” brought about some interesting new questions and contained plenty of fantastic action sequences that helped make this one of the best episodes of the series. The implication that the Dark Archer may actually be a family tradition is a pretty interesting reveal. And while it wasn’t a major surprise who was behind that mask, it was still a great reveal learning the true identity of the “Dark Archer”. Well, mostly because of the last name that has implied this character since the first episode. As well as the revelation that there may indeed be someone worse out there that is the true mastermind behind this all. Maxwell Lord? One could only hope!

Minus a few stumbles here and there, the series continues putting together an exciting and intelligent re-imagining of our favorite DC characters. Definitely looking forward to what the rest of the season brings, especially after the reveal that Roy Harper would be joining the cast of the series. “The Mark” will be back in January!

The easter eggs and comic references you may have missed:

– “To see who’s the better archer.”: In the comics Merlyn challenges Green Arrow to a public archery contest and defeats him. Later on Green Arrow and Merlyn meet again and at the end of the confrontation Merlyn tells Green Arrow that he’s become “the better archer.”

– The dinner conversation discussing giving “The Hood” a better name. Not quite an easter egg nor comic reference, but definitely a nod to Christopher Nolan’s Bat-films. There was a quite similar scene involving Bruce Wayne and “the vigilante” featured. The scene where he calls Diggle after being injured is also quite similar to a scene seen in Batman Begins.

We won’t see a trailer for Jame Mangold’s The Wolverine until next year, but Fox has just released a new poster for the film that will see Logan head to Japan. While the last poster for the film was pretty good, this one definitely is even better and sure to make fans desire to see a trailer for the film increase even more.

If you visit The Wolverine’s Facebook you can also create a custom timeline cover for your page.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

The Wolverine will claw its way into theaters July 26, 2013.

The first official trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming monsters versus robots sci-fi film Pacific Rim has been released online. If you weren’t already excited for this movie, this trailer definitely will do the trick. Come on, monsters versus robots!

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim hits theaters July 12, 2013.

Featuring quite a bit of new footage and definitely more Channing Tatum, Paramount has released a brand new trailer for Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D.

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe characters.

Another classic DC Comics character is coming to The CW’s Arrow. Ex-Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes will be joining the cast of the series as Roy Harper. Many of you may just recognize that name as the alias of the Green Arrow’s sidekick Speedy, also known as the Teen Titans member Arsenal, Justice League’s Red Arrow and current cast member of the New 52’s Red Hood And The Outlaws.

Greg Berlanti stated:

“We were big fans of Colton from Teen Wolf and we are thrilled he’s joining Arrow.

The recurring role will provide a love interest for Oliver’s sister Thea. Oh, so the Speedy references were a little bit of foreshadowing? Very well played Arrow. Word is that Roy is “destined to become a significant part of her life and an important player in the larger world of Arrow.” and the character is being described as “a handsome, street-savvy, teenager from ‘the Glades,’ the harsh, poverty-stricken portion of Starling City.” We will see the character appear in early 2013. While it is a bit quick for Harper to appear in the series, Haynes is definitely a good choice for the role and may be a great addition to the cast.

It seems that another character from Peter Parker’s universe will be joining him on screen in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. According to the website of actor and stuntman Asim Ahmad, he has signed on to join the cast of the film in a supporting role as Professor Michael Morbius.

He apparently has also confirmed this news to writer Joe Keatinge, the writer behind the new ongoing Morbius: The Living Vampire series. The actor has had small roles in a numbver of films such as Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, The Expendables 2 and will also be appearing in next year’s Star Trek Into Darkness.

While the actor has signed on for the role of Morbius, this does not mean he will be transforming into a vampire in the film. As he has stated, it’s a supporting role and if you played the movie tie-in video game you would know that Morbius is an employee of Oscorp. We will be sure to keep you updated as more details arise.

The first official casting came via Michael Bay who revealed that Mark Wahlberg (Ted, The Departed) had signed on for the film and now it appears that the two young lead roles have been filled.

Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender) and Brenton Thwaites (the upcoming Maleficent) have reportedly signed on for the film. According to the earlier reports, Peltz will play Wahlberg’s teenage daughter, and Thwaites her boyfriend, a race car driver.

A new website, which is owned by Warner Bros.,  Deep Space Radio Wave Project has appeared online. The website appears to be a bit of viral marketing for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel.

Mission Statement

Welcome to the home of the DSRW Project, a private non-profit research organization with a network of world-wide interstellar communication facilities that support the exploration of our solar system and the universe. We believe our research is essential to understanding the origin of life.

Our mission is to capture deep space radio waves and analyze them for patterns and messages. We share our findings with the public and work together to answer the question, “Are we alone in the universe?” Through collaboration, we will separate real communication from galactic white noise.

At the moment the messages have all been decoded and it appears to be a countdown with Kryptonian symbols, which you can check out here. Upon further investigation it appears that this is a countdown to the reveal of something at noon tomorrow!

There’s been no word as to just who Alice Eve will be playing in Star Trek Into Darkness. That is until now. Frosty from Collider tweeted:

That would be Dr. Carol Marcus, as in James Kirk’s love interest and the Mother to his son David.  Marcus also was the creator of ‘Project Genesis’, which was responsible for bringing Spock back to life after he sacrificed his life to save the Enterprise from Khan in Star Trek 2. Could this be a possible plot spoiler? We’re going to have to wait and see.

Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters May 17, 2013.

Well, it appears that some new footage was screened today for a select few at the Bad Robot Avid Post Production Webinar, and it turns out the rumors have indeed turned out to be true.

Superherohype’s Silas Lesnick Tweeted:

This should make Trekkies quite happy. But, will we see the Klingons as allies of Starfleet or the antagonists that they originally appeared as? Guess you’re going to have to wait and see when Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters May 17, 2013.

Paramount has released a new still from J.J. Abrams highly-anticipated (understatement?) Star Trek Into Darkness. So, remember that scene from the international teaser? Well, this still may shed a little more light on what’s going on. Earlier this week rumors hit that writer Gail Simone would be leaving the New 52’s Batgirl, but the writer was quick to debunk them. Well, it looks like the rumors were true and DC has taken her off of the title. Simone tweeted:

This is definitely quite unexpected due to the reponse that Simone’s run on Batgirl has received from fans. It’s expected that Simone will end her run with issue #16 after “The Death Of The Family” story arc reaches it’s end.

Not long ago it was revealed that Chinese actor Wang Xuequi had joined the cast of Iron Man 3 and reports came in that the actor was playing Chen Lu, the civilian alias of Marvel villain Radioactive Man. Deadline has now confirmed that the actor will be playing Dr. Wu, a variation of the character, and will indeed have a villainous role in the sequel. However, the role “is not a huge part” and there is no word if the character will actually transform into Radioactive Man in the film.

Marvel and DMG Entertainment have also just released two new Iron Man 3 images showcasing the Chinese actor’s role in the highly-anticipated Marvel Studios film.

We may have seen a leaked version of the trailer yesterday but now Universal Pictures have released the official trailer for the Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) directed science fiction epic Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise as one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on an uninhabited Earth. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Disney had a huge hit in 2010 with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which went on to make more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. So, it comes as no sutprise that Disney has decided to move forward with a sequel to the film.

They’ve hired Linda Woolverton, who wrote the first film, to write the script for the sequel. The studios has quite a few big budget films coming out over the next few years so it may be awhile before we see this one. There’s currently no word as far as if we will see Tim Burton return to direct the follow-up.

While speaking on RTE Television‘s ‘The Late Late Show’ earlier today, actor Martin Sheen has revealed that he will be returning as Uncle Ben, the iconic comic book character who is the reason behind Peter Parker becoming a hero, in Marc Webb’s upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. The actor revealed:

“They’ve called me back, I don’t know what the part is gonna be, but I’m going to be ‘Uncle Ben’ once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot it in February.”

As we all know the character met his demise in the last film, which most likely means that we will see him return in a flashback or dream sequence most likely. And maybe he’ll even say that line that you all cried about him not saying in the first film? Even though, he kind of said it in a way.

The untitled sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters May 2, 2014.

Add one more comic book adaptation coming to theaters in 2015. 20th Century Fox already has The Wolverine and X-Men: Days Of Future Past on their way, and now they’ve set a release date for the their next big-screen Marvel adaptation. The Josh Trank (Chronicle) helmed reboot of Marvel’s First Family will be coming to theaters March, 6, 2015!

In addition to this release date, Fox has also announced that The Wolverine, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and the upcoming Percy Jackson sequel will all be released in 3D. The upcoming reboot is being penned by Jeremy Slater, who has promised a take on the franchise that the “fans deserve”. With a release date now set for the film and production to begin in 2014 (in order to keep the rights to the film), expect casting to begin even sooner than many had expected.

There hasn’t been a lot of news regarding Kevin Tancharoen’s (director of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy webseries) upcoming big-screen reboot of Mortal Kombat in the recent months. However, we do have our first bit of casting news for the film via Twitter. Michael Jai White, who played Jax in the webseries as well as the Rebirth short, has confirmed that he won’t be back for the second season of the series but definitely will be reprising the role of Jackson “Jax” Briggs in the upcoming big screen reboot of Mortal Kombat.

If this upcoming reboot is anything like Tancharoen’s webseries, the series may see some redemption for the awful Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Here’s hoping to some of the other actors from the webseries joining the film’s cast as well.

Just ahead of the release of the theatrical trailer for the sci-fi epic, Universal has released the first poster for the Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) directed Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise. The first trailer for the film will be debuting this Sunday.

Well, Entertainment Weekly seems to have just skipped the second movie in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy and went straight into giving us a look at the third film. The still features Orlando Bloom as Legolas and Luke Evans as Bard The Bowman. This image definitely seems to confirm that Bard will have a much larger role in the films and that Legolas may be making more than just a cameo in the film.

The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters December 14th.

After the passing of the great Michael Clarke Duncan, fans began to wonder who who replace him in the upcoming sequel to Sin City. THR has revealed that Dennis Haysbert, who you may best remember as President David Palmer from 24 or Pedro Cerrano from Major League, will be filling the role of Manute in the film. In Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, the comic that the film is based on, Manute is pivotal character.

Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller provided an official statement:

“Manute is a character that has been part of the heart of the Sin City tales and the late Michael Clarke Duncan beautifully established that role on screen. We could not tell the story of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For without Manute and are thrilled to welcome Dennis Haysbert to the cast.”

Featuring even more footage than the first teaser trailer, check out the international teaser trailer for J. J. Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness. The full length trailer doesn’t hit until next week, but these teasers might be enough to hold you over until then.

Filming is set to being in April of next year on the beyond highly-anticipated X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and we should expect to see quite a few more casting reports  for the upcoming sequel. Bryan Singer has already confirmed that James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will return for the film, as well as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen reprising their roles from the original trilogy. It has also been revealed that Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman is in talks to join the fim.

Well, it looks like there’s a chance we may be getting even more of the original cast back. Word on the streets is that Fox wants James Marsden and Halle Berry to reprise their roles as Scott Summers aka Cyclops and Ororo Munroe aka Storm. While many may not care about Halle Berry returning, there are plenty of people out there who would be overly excited to see Marsden return after Scott Summers getting the shaft in X-Men: The Last Stand.

The original storyline that this film is based on deals “with a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps.” So, having these characters appear for small bits in the future segments can totally work easily. None of this is confirmed at the moment, but our fingers are definitely crossed that this one happens. Well, actually we just want Marsden to come back.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is scheduled to hit theaters  July 18th, 2014.

Bryan Singer’s past X-films have opened up with voiceovers from Professor Charles Xavier, discussing evolution and the details of it. Singer recently tweeted an image featuring the cover of the script for X-Men: Days Of Future Past:

“As new species are formed through natural evolution, others will become rarer and rarer, and finally extinct. The forms which stand in closest competition with those undergoing modification and improvement will naturally suffer most.”

The quote, from Charles Darwin’s Origin Of The Species, could quite possibly be the opening to the film as read by either Patrick Stewart or James MacAvoy.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is scheduled to hit theaters  July 18th, 2014.
