Briefly: This is gorgeous.

Odd City Entertainment and the Austin Film Society have debuted a fantastic screen print by Paul Shipper, and it’s definitely a piece that I’d love to add to my wall (I’ve already go the Odd City/James Fosdike Trick ‘r Treat piece hanging in front of me).

The piece has been created for the Sin City: A Dame to Kill For premiere event in Austin on Wednesday, August 20th. Here’s what artist Paul Shipper said about the piece:

“When I was asked to create a poster for the Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez Sin City sequel, I was excited by the graphic nature of the film and its origins. The simplistic yet complexly rich approach of the black, white and red palette of the film is something that lends itself to the poster design. It’s also worth noting that this is my very first screen-printed poster! The original concept of the poster was loosely based on the original 1944 poster for Double Indemnity with the embrace of a man and woman being very prominent in the design.”

Want to get your hands on one? Here are the details:

The Odd City limited edition prints will be on sale at The Paramount Theatre (713 Congress Ave) at Austin Film Society’s Texas premiere of SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR (3D) on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, with directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, as well as Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, in attendance.

The posters will also be available to purchase at the exclusive event after party, which will be held at the Rattle Inn (610 Nueces).

Tickets to attend the screening and after party can be purchased online through the Austin Film Society. For more information and to purchase a ticket, visit: https://www.austinfilm.org/sincity2

The PAUL SHIPPER SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR print will be a limited release of 200. The 18×24 print will be printed with 4 inks and one metallic on MOHAWK paper BY D&L Printing. All prints are $45.

Any prints remaining after the event will go on sale on the Odd City store on Friday, August 22nd at a random time.

All proceeds from the event, and the poster sales, benefit the Austin Film Society’s artistic programs.

Take a look at the print below, and let us know if you’ll be picking one up!

SinCity

I’m starting to think that we’ll never see this movie.

I was 15 years old when Sin City first hit theatres. I loved it, and was unbelievably excited when Robert Rodriguez quickly announced that the film would get a sequel.

I’m 23 now, and I’m still as excited as I was eight years ago when Sin City 2 (now known as Sin City: A Dame To Kill For) was delayed… again and again and again. It looks like old habits die hard, as today, just a few months before the sequel would hit theatres, it was delayed again.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will now release on August 22, 2014. That’s a 325 day delay for those who like numbers. The film stars Joseph Gordon-LevittRay Liotta, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven, Josh Brolin, Jessica Alba, Michael Madsen, Bruce Willis and plenty of others, and was scheduled to release this October.

It’s pretty lame news, so be sure to let us know how you feel below!

Dame

The cast of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is already huge. And there’s a chance it may be even bigger than we know. While talking about the upcoming film, actress Jamie King may have slipped up and revealed that there’s another actor appearing in the film who hadn’t been previously revealed.

“It was really fun because I got to do the part that was in the comic book. I was there the first day of filming when nobody else was cast except for Jessica Alba, Mickey [Rourke], and [Rosario Dawson]. None of the other people were cast so I was acting to someone’s hand. Imagine doing all your scenes with no one. Is it going to be Fassbender? Is it going to be Levitt? Brolin? It was a real trip.”

See, everyone that Jamie King listed has been revealed as being a part of the film. Everyone that is, except for Michael Fassbender, who she randomly named among a group  of the film’s cast members. Is there a chance that we may be seeing the actor making a surprise cameo in the film?

We’ll have to wait and find out when Sin City: A Dame To Kill For hits theaters October 2, 2013.

Aside from the metric ton of casting news (check out just some of it here, here, and here), we haven’t heard or seen much coming out of the production of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.

Director Robert Rodriguez tonight broke that visual silence, and gave us a cool before/after first look at Josh Brolin in the film. Take a look at the images below, and let us know what you think!

Here’s the before:

And after:

Josh Brolin will join plenty of others, including Joseph Gordon-LevittRay Liotta, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven, Jessica Alba, Michael Madsen, Bruce Willis and more, when A Dame to Kill For blasts its way into theatres on October 4th!

Variety is reporting that Stacy Keach has joined the ever growing cast of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Keach will play the role of mob boss Wallenquist aka “The Kraut”, who is described by Rodriguez as “the one man who can’t be redeemed in Sin City” and “pure evil.” His face is evidently replete with heavy scars and burn wounds.

Dimension Films have announced that co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have chosen Eva Green (Dark Shadows, Casino Royale) to star as Ava Lord, a role that was rumored to go to Angelina Jolie, in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. The iconic character from the graphic novel is described by Frank Miller as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares.” Miller and Rodriguez stated:

“We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.”

The cast of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has grown yet again. Deadline has revealed that Julia Gardner (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Martha Marcy May Marlene) has been added to the star-studded group of actors that will appear in the film.

She’ll join plenty of others, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven, Jessica Alba, Michael Madsen, Josh Brolin, Bruce Willis and more, when A Dame to Kill For blasts its way into theatres on October 4th.

I can’t wait.

While the cast of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has been shaping up very nicely (everyone from Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Josh Brolin to Mickey Rourke to Ray Liotta seem to be involved), Bruce Willis, who played the extremely major character of Hartigan in the first film, has been oddly silent. We’ve been wondering for some time now if he’d even make it into the film, or if his (still major) character would have to be recast.

You can now quit your worrying and rest easy, as Robert Rodriguez has just confirmed to MTV that the venerable (and busy) actor is confirmed for the sequel. It’s brief, but you can’t get much more of a confirmation than this:

“Bruce is back, so you’ll be seeing him.”

Excited? You can watch the interview with Robert Rodriguez below (though only if you’re in the US, which means that I haven’t seen it). The topics include Bruce Willis (of course), and they also delve into both the 3D elements of the film, and just who Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing. Enjoy!

After the passing of the great Michael Clarke Duncan, fans began to wonder who who replace him in the upcoming sequel to Sin City. THR has revealed that Dennis Haysbert, who you may best remember as President David Palmer from 24 or Pedro Cerrano from Major League, will be filling the role of Manute in the film. In Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, the comic that the film is based on, Manute is pivotal character.

Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller provided an official statement:

“Manute is a character that has been part of the heart of the Sin City tales and the late Michael Clarke Duncan beautifully established that role on screen. We could not tell the story of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For without Manute and are thrilled to welcome Dennis Haysbert to the cast.”
