The first official still has been released for the upcoming adaptation, directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), of the classic sci-fi novel. The image gives us a first look at Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin among a group of new recruits (aka “Launchies”) as he faces off with Colonel Graff (Harrsion Ford).

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff I(Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distiguising himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Ender’s Game hits theaters November 1st, 2013.

It was revealed awhile back that the first theatrical trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness would be attached to screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which hits theaters December 14th. You can also see a a nine-minute prologue with the IMAX 3D screenings of the film. But you won’t have to wait that long to get your first look at the film.

It’s been revealed that this Thursday, a one minute teaser trailer for the J. J. Abrams directed sequel be released online eight days ahead of the theatrical trailer’s debut. This trailer will be an online exclusive and something different than you can expect to see in theaters. The theaterical trailer for the film will run just over two minutes long.

Star Trek Into Darkness is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2013.

Guillermo Del Toro’s epic monsters versus robots flick Pacific Rim won’t be in theaters until next summer, but with all the hype around the trailer (trust me…you guys are going to lose it when you see it) and the movie in general, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are taking no time moving forward with the sequel.

Travis Beacham, who worked on the first film, has been hired by Legendary to write the script for the sequel. The script will be co-written by Del Toro, although there’s no word as far as if he will direct the follow up. He has quite a few films on his plate at the moment, but I can’t see him not returning for a sequel to a film that he seemed quite passionate about.

Pacific Rim will hit theaters July 12th, 2013.

Earlier today alongside the announcement that actor Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) has officially signed on to play Harry Osborn in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, director Marc Webb also announced that Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx has also signed on for the sequel to play the super-villain Electro in the film. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight just hours after Sony’s press release hit, Foxx commented on his excitement for the film:

“Electro is a great character! I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked. I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he’s a … genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on.”

While many may frown upon this casting, I believe we are in for a treat here. Foxx is a fantastic actor who I believe will blow many away with his performance. Remember people, we also said that Heather Ledger was wrong for a certain role when they cast him.

The currently untitled sequel will be hitting theaters May 2, 2014.

Casting is currently underway for the highly anticipated sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. Recently it was revealed that actors were being screen tested for the role of Harry Osborn and director Marc Webb has just revealed via Twitter who they have chosen for the role:

The official press release from Sony (which also confirms that Jamie Foxx will indeed be playing Electro):

Dane DeHaan will join the cast of the next installment of The Amazing Spider-Man™ along side Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Shailene Woodley as Columbia Pictures prepares to begin production on the next chapter of the blockbuster franchise, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of production for the studio.

The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be directed by Marc Webb and produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.

The casting of DeHaan as Harry Osborn was confirmed this morning in a tweet by Webb (@MarcW) who wrote “Meet Harry Osborn. So excited to have him on board. @danedehaan.”

“Dane is an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast,” Webb said.

The new film in the Spider-Man saga is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014. Production will begin in early 2013 in New York.

Webb, Garfield and Stone previously teamed on this summer’s blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man, which has taken in more than $751 million worldwide.

DeHaan caught moviegoers’ attention with his performances in four 2012 releases: Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, opposite Daniel Day-Lewis and Lukas Haas; John Hillcoat’s Lawless, alongside Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Jason Clarke; Bradley Rust Gray’s Jack & Diane, with Juno Temple and Riley Keough; and one of the year’s biggest sleeper hits, the adventure thriller Chronicle, directed by Josh Trank. He began his film career with director John Sayles and actor Chris Cooper in Amigo.

DeHaan next stars in Place Beyond the Pines alongside Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling. In addition he will star in Atom Egoyan’s Devil’s Knot, with Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, about the fate of the West Memphis Three; and John Krokidas’ Kill Your Darlings, with Jack Huston, Daniel Radcliffe, Ben Foster, and Kyra Sedgwick, set in 1944 amidst the Beat Generation.

Mr. DeHaan first came to industry attention with his portrayal of Jesse in the third season of the critically applauded drama series In Treatment, starring alongside Gabriel Byrne. This was followed by a guest arc in the fourth season of the popular horror series True Blood.

In 2010, he received an Obie Award for his performance in Annie Baker’s The Aliens, directed by Sam Gold. The Rattlestick Theater production was cited as “Play of the Year” by The New York Times. Mr. DeHaan made his Broadway debut in with American Buffalo, Robert Falls’ 2008 staging of the classic David Mamet play.

So, does this mean we will soon learn more about who will be playing Norman Osborn? Keep checking back because we will be sure to keep you updated.

To get anticipation levels up for this month’s reveal of the trailer and prologue to J. J. Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness, the first official teaser poster has been released online. The poster features Benedict Cumberbatch’s mysterious villain character with his back turned to some wreckage that just happens to form a very familiar emblem.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew. “Star Trek Into Darkness,” written by “Lost” alumni Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, is slated for a May 17, 2013, release. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto will reprise their respective roles as James T. Kirk and Spock. Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood are also returning.

Of course, when the first synopsis hit just last week, we were quick to analyze and speculate just who the fantastic Benedict Cumberbatch is likely to be portraying! What do you think?

Hugh Jackman, the actor who brought Wolverine to life on the big screen, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, December 13, 2012. There’s not alot of details known about Summit Entertainment’s upcoming remake 1986’s Highlander. The only details known about the film are the Ryan Reynolds will be portraying Connor MacLeod and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) was attached to direct the film. There can only be one director. But it appears that it won’t be Fresnadillo who has exited the project. Deadline reports:

“I’m told that his exit is amicable, and that after a year of working on the project, he and Summit could not get past the fact they had differing views of the film, and finally agreed to disagree. Fresnadillo left a remake of The Crow to join Highlander. It’s unclear at the moment whether that is an option, but come Monday, he will be looking for another movie, and Summit will be looking for another Highlander helmer.”

The original film, about an immortal from the Scottish Highlands that was born in the 16th century, spawned multiple sequels as well as a television series. However, the film definitely doesn’t hold up with time and is one of the films desperately in need of a remake. Seriously, why was that guy doing all those damn back flips in that parking garage?

Check out a new trailer for the romantic zombie comedy Warm Bodies from director Jonathon Levine (50/50). The film stars Nicholas Hoult as a zombie named “R” who starts to act more human than zombie when he falls in love with Julie (Teresa Palmer). The first trailer focused more on the romantic aspect of the film, while this one seems to focus a little more on the action.

A genre-bending tale of love and transformation, WARM BODIES is a story about a boy who loves a girl…for more than just her body.

Warm Bodies hits theaters February 1st, 2013.

We’ve seen him in flashbacks to the island but now Deathstroke is coming to Starling City in The CW’s Arrow! In the flashbacks Deathstroke was played by stuntman Jeffrey C. Robinson but we’ve now learned that Spartacus fan favorite Manu Bennett has been cast as the popular DC assassin. He has yet to remove the mask but we will see that change when the character returns in episode 9.

Bennett, best known as Crixus on Spartacus and who will also be appearing in The Hobbit: An Expected Journey, has signed on to appear in multiple episodes. Can we expect him to become one of Oliver’s recurring enemies? One can only hope.

Check out a new TV spot for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey containing a few brief shots giving us a first glimpse at the dragon Smaug, who will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, in the movie. Can you hold yourself together for two more weeks until the film hits theaters?

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey takes you back to middle earth on December 14th.

Did you miss last night’s episode of Arrow? Well, you shouldn’t have. This episode “marked” the start (Bad pun…I know) of the second real story arc and was definitely was one of the more significant episodes of the series. In the episode we saw a change from the typical formula of hunting down a name off the list in order to introduce new characters into the series and it’s ever thickening plot.

The plot was fairly simple for the episode but was full of some big revelations. We’re introduced to Frank Bertinelli and his daughter Helena, who will go on to become The Huntress. In the start of the episode we see Helena (in disguise) take a shot at one of her father’s lieutenants, who conviniently happens to be meeting with Moira Queen at the time. Ollive goes on to learn that several of Bertinelli’s gang have been killed, and while investigating, ends up on a date with Helena when Frank Bertinelli is called away to deal with other business. The other business? Meeting with the Chinese triad including China White. Oh, what a tangled web Arrow is weaving.

The episode had plenty of action and plenty of twists and turns to get us back to the pace that seemed to slow during the last episode. We’re also given one of the biggest surprises when we learn who John Barrowman’s character actually is. No, it’s not Maxwell Lord but let’s just say his last name is going to prove him to be one of Oliver’s greatest enemies or the reason that someone else becomes that enemy. Not a big enough hint for you? Well, take a look at the image below and you may piece it together because I’m not giving it away. So many events with serious repercussions were packed into this episode that definitely set Arrow up for some intriguing episodes to come. With the season finale quickly approaching, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.

The comic references and easter eggs you might have missed:

– Michael Staton: Helena’s dead fiance shares a last name with Joe Stanton. Stanton helped create both the original and rebooted versions of the Huntress.

– Tahmoh Penikett as Nick Salvati: Not exactly an easter egg, but Salvati was played by Tahmoh Penikett. Penikett has appeared twice on Smallville and will also be appearing in Man Of Steel. He will play Henry Ackerdson, an alias once used by the villain Metallo.

Wait, did you really think they were going to make X-Men: Days Of Future Past without good ol’ Logan? Well, after yesterday’s announcement that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are reprising their roles as Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto, it should come as no surprise at all that Huge Jackman is in negotiations to reprise role as Wolverine in the Bryan Singer-directed sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed:

So, you’ll be getting plenty of Wolverine action over the next couple of years in your local multiplexes. This also furthers speculation that The Wolverine, which is due out in theaters July 26, 2013, will lead directly into this film. Expect even more casting news to come soon for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Mr. Singer, we’re still waiting to hear James Marsden is coming back as Scott Summers.

Jam packed full of new footage, check out the final trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz. Remember, the D is silent.

Django Unchained gets dirty in theaters on December 25th.

A new international television spot for AMC’s The Walking Dead has revealed a first look at Chad Coleman (The Wire) as fan-favorite character Tyreese.

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9/8c on AMC. Are you ready for the mid-season finale?

Not too long ago it was revealed that a Booster Gold television show was in the works. Last word on the series was that Kreisberg was planning on handing in the script for the pilot that will appear on SyFy. Kriesberg, while discussing The CW’s Arrow, has revealed that he will start working on the show before Christmas.

“I got a little waylaid by Arrow. Booster Gold is going in the next couple weeks before Christmas. We’ll see what happens from there. It’s such a different project even though they’re both DC Comics properties. Booster is much more candy and popcorn, being about time travel and changing the future and being a superhero who can fly. But they’re both super-fun projects. As a lifelong DC Comics fan, I am beyond blessed to be working on these projects with all these amazing characters.”

While not revealing that there isn’t much progress on the series, he does reveal that it is still alive. There’s no casting news but last we heard we could expect to see a good number of the character from Booster Gold’s comics. Could that possibly include Ted Kord aka The Blue Beetle? One can only hope.

Deadline has revealed that Marvel Studios has a short list of actors for the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in Phase Two’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) have all signed test deals for the lead role in the upcoming film.

Now, while these actors are all in the running Marvel Studios apparently also is interested Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men) and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom). It’s still shocking and quite awesome that we’re actually reporting casting news for a Guardians Of The Galaxy film.

GameSpot has revealed the latest addition to NetherRealm Studios highly anticipated fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. None other than Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke will be joining the roster that already incluides Superman, Batman, Joker, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Nightwing, Cyborg, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Catwoman and The Flash.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hits shelves April 2013.

Remember that interview with Colin Trevorrow that led to everyone believing he was working on Star Wars: Episode VII? Well, it seems that we now know what he actually was talking about when he stated:

“I can’t speak with any specificity as to what the next thing will be. There are amazing opportunities that have arisen as a result of this. One of them, I will say, will probably create a good deal of ire against me on the Internet when people find out what it is. So, I just want to say in advance that I promise you, for all those who love the mythology that I will be tackling, trust that I love it as much as you do. And I will respect it, and hopefully make it not suck.”

It seems that the Safety Not Guaranteed director was actually talking about Flight Of The Navigator. Disney has hired Trevorrow and Derek Connolly to rewrite the remake, from a script written by Brad Copeland (Arrested Development). The 1986 original, directed by Randal Kleisner and starring Joey Cramer, has gone on to become a cult classic. The film even featured stars such as Pee Wee Herman and Sarah Jessica Parker. The plot of the film focued on “A 12 year-old boy who goes missing and reappears eight years later having not aged a day. At the same time, an alien spacecraft crashes nearby, which may explain the boy’s disappearance. “

No other details are known at the moment, but that’s definitely a surprising remake for Disney to be working on.

Brett Dalton (Army Wives) is the latest cast addition to Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot. Dalton will play “Agent Grant” in the ABC pilot, who is being described as “one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s highly-skilled rising stars – he’s deadly, precise, and cool under fire — but not so great with the people skills”.

The series will focus on the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Dalton will be joining Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge in the Joss Whedon helmed pilot for the series.

Earlier yesterday, rumor hit the internet that we would see Joseph Gordon-Levitt reprise his role as John Blake as a cameo in Man Of Steel that would lead into him playing Batman in the planned Justice League movie. Now, not only was that a ridiculous rumor but a source at Warner Bros. flat out denied it to me last night after I contacted them.

And being how ridiculous of a rumor it is, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to learn that Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s reps have flat out denied his involvement with Justice League. Hollywood.com, “checked in with Gordon-Levitt’s reps who have refuted the rumor entirely.”

From what I have been told, Man Of Steel will be the jumping off point for DC’s “shared cinematic universe”. So, don’t hope for any ties to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy because they probably won’t be there. We will definitely be getting a new Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film but there’s been no word as far as actual casting for the role yet.

Well, it’s been speculated for quite some time now that we’d see cast members from the original X-Men films returning for the sequel to X-Men: First Class and now director Bryan Singer has made it official. Singer has revealed that the story will indeed focus on past and future/young and old versions of the characters and has officially welcomed Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier) and Ian McKellen (Magneto) to the cast of X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Singer tweeted minutes ago:

It’s definitely worth noting that the director ended with “more to come”. From the sounds of it, we should expect even more casting news coming very soon. Dear Mr. Singer, let’s bring back James Marsden as Scott Summers. Just saying.

David Anders (Alias, The Vampire Diaries) will be coming to Starling City in thirteenth episode of Arrow as “Cyrus Vanch”. The character isn’t actually from the comics and is being described as one of Oliver’s greatest threats yet.

“Vanch is a ruthless career criminal who is released from prison after a long stint. Laurel is particularly invested in taking Vanch down. When she discovers that the police can’t get him off the streets, she turns to the Arrow for help. Unfortunately, the cunning Vanch is one step ahead of them — he’s looking to take control of Starling City’s criminal underworld, and in order to prove himself to the lowlifes, he’s got a mind to eliminate the man criminals fear most.”

With so many DC villains already coming to the show I am glad that they’re bringing in some original characters into the mix. With such a lengthy description it’s possible that we may see this character more than just once.

When it was revealed that Warner Bros. was working on a Justice League film, which is set to hit theaters in 2015, one big question that many wondered is where would Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel fit in with the film. While speaking with the NY Post it seems that Snyder has hinted at what fans were hoping for. When asked about Justice League, Snyder commented:

“I don’t know how ‘Justice League’ is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t. But ‘The Man of Steel’ exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that.”

Then when pressed a little more about whether or not Warner Bros. has asked Snyder to include his film in a DC film universe Snyder replied:

“I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.”

Well, sounds like Man Of Steel may be Warner Bros. equivalent to Marvel Studios Iron Man and may be the jumping off point for a shared DC Universe. This also seems to confirm that we will see Henry Cavill, who has signed a three picture deal, reprise the role in 2015’s Justice League.

Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14, 2013.

Check out the first trailer for Snitch starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson plays a father who, in order to keep his son from going to jail, is forced to work with the feds to take down a drug kingpin. This movie definitely has a good cast and could end up being a fun movie. Or it could end up being one of Johnson’s other not-so-good flicks. We’re going to wait and find out on this one.

Action superstar Dwayne Johnson headlines this fast-paced thriller as a father whose teenage son is wrongly accused of a crime and is sentenced to 10 years in jail.  In order to clear his son’s name, he dangerously goes undercover and risks everything, including his own life, to reduce his son’s sentence.

The ensemble cast includes Academy Awards Winner Susan Sarandon, Emmy Nominee Benjamin Bratt, and Golden Globe Nominee Barry Pepper.

Inspired by a true story, the screenplay was written by Justin Haythe (THE LONE RANGER, REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, THE CLEARING) and adapted by the film’s director Ric Roman Waugh.

Snitch hits theaters February 22, 2013.

Better hurry to your local comic shop and pick up a copy before they sell out. Writer Dan Slott has been stating that retailers didn’t order enough copies of the issue, and now we’ve learned that he was definitely right. Marvel has announced that The Amazing Spider-Man #698 has sold out and is now going into a second printing.

“The end of Spider-Man’s world begins when Doctor Octopus discovers who Peter Parker really is. This is the beginning of the end to this fifty year run and you will want to see the secret that will change everything! So don’t miss the most talked about comic of the year, returning to store shelves in just a few weeks with Amazing Spider-Man #698 Second Printing Variant!”

This is definitely an issue that will be talked about for quite some time. Do yourselves a favor and go pick up a copy as soon as possible.

It’s already been revealed that Michael Arndt will write Star Wars Episode VII but that film is just the first of the new trilogy and it appears they are already looking for writers for the next two chapters. Deadline‘s Mike Flemming has revealed that Disney have approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg to script the next two installments in the new Star Wars trilogy.

Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi and Raiders Of The Lost Ark, is definitely going to a welcomed name to write these next chapters. And Simon Kinberg, who worked on X-Men: First Class and the sequel Days Of Future Past and is another name apparently on Disney’s radar.

Now, all we need to know is who is actually directing these films.

UPDATE: Well, it appears that deals have already been closed here and that the two will also be producers on the film. The team will work together on one of the next episode’s of the franchise. According to THR’s Borys Kit:

Rick has lost quite a few members of his group this season but now it looks like he’ll have a new recruit joining him. Last week Robert Kirkman revealed a new fan-favorite character would be joining the cast this season which led to many speculating just which character we would see.

Now, TV Line has revealed that Chad Coleman (The Wire, Green Hornet) has indeed signed on the join AMC’s The Walking Dead as fan-favourite character ‘Tyreese’. The site even goes on to reveal that we should expect to see him as soon as next week’s episode. However, we don’t know how much the character may differ from his comic version but we shouldn’t expect him to be too different

It’s been in the works for some time and now Joe Carnahan (The Grey) has confirmed that he and his brother Matthew have now started work on the screenplay for the big-screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Steve MicNiven’s Nemesis. Earlier this year, Mark Millar revealed that Carnahan will also direct the film.

It’s been rumored that they’ve been after Liam Neeson to play Blake Morrow and Michael Fassbender for the role of Nemesis. But there’s been nothing officially announced as far as casting goes for the film. But for now, who cares? We’re getting a f***ing Nemesis movie!
