Briefly: Robert Rodriguez’s long awaited Machete Kills is finally less than a week away from theatres, and Open Road Films has just debuted a new trailer and character poster for the film.

The trailer features some new footage, and is overlaid with Lady Gaga’s new, currently unreleased track, “Aura”, while the poster features a very, very grown up Alexa Vega (yep… this girl from Spy Kids):

In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.

Briefly: I’m not really sure what else Aaron Eckhart’s been up to since his demise in The Dark Knight, but the first trailer for I, Frankenstein has just debuted online, and it’s looking pretty bad-ass so far.

The film looks to take a similar tone to that of 2010’s Legionexcept it’s traded angels for monsters, and Aaron Eckhart plays the sexiest Frankenstein ever.

I, Frankenstein offers quite a well rounded cast, starring (of course) Eckhart, but also Bill Nighy, Jai Courtney, and even Dexter’s girlfriend herself, the lovely Yvonne Strahovski, among others.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! I, Frankenstein hits theatres on January 24th!

200 years after his shocking creation, Dr. Frankenstein’s creature, Adam, still walks the earth. But when he finds himself in the middle of a war over the fate of humanity, Adam discovers he holds the key that could destroy humankind. From the co-writer of the hit supernatural saga, UNDERWORLD, comes the action thriller I, FRANKENSTEIN, written for the screen and directed by Stuart Beattie, screen story by Kevin Grevioux and Stuart Beattie, based on the Darkstorm Studios graphic novel “I, Frankenstein” created by Kevin Grevioux. The story is brought to life by a cast that includes Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, and Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein.

Briefly: Following yesterday’s cool new featurette, Marvel has officially debuted the first clip from next month’s anticipated Thor: The Dark World.

The clip is an expansion of the Thor / Loki conversation that we’ve seen in almost every trailer, but it’s very cool to see the entire exchange. Remember that Loki nearly destroyed New York (or the planet), so as Loki states, Thor must be truly desperate asking him for help.

Take a look at the clip below, and let us know what you think! Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on November 8th!

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Briefly: I’m not sure how long this is going to last, as Warner Bros. seems to be pulling these videos all over the place.

The first teaser trailer for Legendary Pictures and Universal’s Godzilla has just appeared online.

It’s short, clocking in at just over 90 seconds, but every single frame of it is absolutely phenomenal. This looks to be the Godzilla film that we’ve been waiting for forever. The trailer is haunting, with a simple, somber voiceover speaking of the end of days before giving us our first look at the legendary creature.

Director Gareth Edwards, of course, is no stranger to the monster genre, having previously helmed 2010’s acclaimed Monsters (which I still need to see, bah!), and if this trailer is any indication, it looks like he’s set to make quite the name for himself with this one.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think of it. Godzilla hits theatres on May 16th, 2014.

Update: As of 3:10 PST, the trailer is STILL WORKING! If it doesn’t load, try hitting refresh!

Update: The streaming trailer is gone, and I can’t seem to find any other versions. Sorry folks!

Update: Here’s a downloadable link!

Briefly: You may remember a fantastic Assassin’s Creed fan film that debuted on Machinima last month. It was called Assassin’s Creed: Checkmate, and it was developed by a very talented filmmaker named Joe Miale.

Well, Miale’s back, and this time he’s taken on Half-Life.

Half-Life: Raise The Bar starts off with a bang as a catastrophic event on the Black Mesa Research Facility is unleashed when an experiment goes wrong. As scientists scramble to find a way out, the game’s iconic weapon– the crowbar– finds its rightful owner.

It’s a great take on one of the best franchises of all time, and it really makes me want to give the series another playthrough. Take a look at Half-Life: Raise The Bar below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: All the way back in June it was rumoured that Marvel was looking at Kick-Ass himself, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, for the role of Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Today, Samuel Jackson informed us that Elizabeth Olsen would indeed be playing Quicksilver’s sister in the film, and it looks like Johnson’s casting may be confirmed as well.

Latino-Review has reported that Johnson’s deal is done, and that he will indeed portray Quicksilver in the Avengers sequel. It’s not official yet, but El Miyambe sounds pretty confident about this one. No other information has been revealed about the casting.

Quicksilver is also set to appear in Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, and American Horror Story‘s Evan Peters landed that role. Is there anyone else you’d rather see play the character in Age of Ultron? What do you think of the brother/sister duo now that they’ve both (allegedly) been cast? Sound out below! The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theatres on May 1st, 2015!

Briefly: Following the new TV spots from earlier this week, Marvel has debuted a new featurette for the highly anticipated Thor: The Dark World.

The featurette takes us to some of the locations used during filming, and shows us that this is definitely Thor on a much larger scale. It’s an awesome look into Marvel’s next phase two film, which seems to be looking better and better with each piece of new marketing.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Thor: The Dark World opens on November 8th!

Briefly: There’s just a few more weeks of waiting until Kimberly Peirce’s long awaited Carrie remake hits theatres, and MGM has just debuted the first clip for the film.

I’ve been waiting for this modern Carrie reimagining for some time now, and was highly disappointed when the film was delayed earlier this year. Take a look at the new clip below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Carrie! The film hits theatres on October 18th!

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Briefly: This one’s been rumoured since back in August, but that rumour has just been confirmed.

Elizbeth Olsen is Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Jackson touched on Age of Ultron, and ultimately broke the news about the casting, stating that ”I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”

Jackson also states that filming on Age of Ultron won’t start until March of 2014.

Are you looking forward to seeing Olsen in the role? She’s been pretty fantastic in everything that I’ve seen her in! Is there anyone else you’d rather have seen play Scarlet Witch? Sound out below!

Briefly: The highly anticipated sequel to last year’s The Hunger Games is just over a month away from theatres, and Entertainment Weekly has just got their hands on a trio of new stills from the film.

I wasn’t overly impressed (or impressed at all, really) with the first film in the series, but everything I’ve seen from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has looked like a substantial improvement. I’m actually really looking forward to donning my Katniss costume on November 22nd, and jumping in line at my local cinema.

Just kidding about the costume…

Take a look at the new stills below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to this one!

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Briefly: Ant-Man doesn’t even have a cast yet (as far as we know), and the film isn’t due in theatres for another two years, but that hasn’t stopped director Edgar Wright from tweeting a new behind-the-scenes photo from the project.

It’s probably just a VFX test, but what if it’s not? Could it be an end-tag for an upcoming Phase Two film?

Take a look at the photo below, and let us know what you think! Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man kicks-off Marvel’s Phase Three on July 31st, 2015!

Briefly: There’s just 12 more days until the highly anticipated season premiere of The Walking Dead, and AMC has debuted two new teasers for the show.

The videos feature some new footage from the season, and reminds us that basically everything we’ve seen from season four has looked awesome. Scott Gimple has already done some phenomenal work on the series (remember last year’s Clear?), and I firmly believe he’s going to be a fantastic showrunner.

Take a look at the promos below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the season! The Walking Dead premieres on October 13th!

Briefly: With just over a week to go until premiere, FX has just debuted a new featurette and two new promos for the anticipated American Horror Story: Coven.

The featurette digs into the portrayal of Voodoo in Hollywood, and in essence, just how wrong it is. We see interviews with real Voodoo priestesses and historians, and it really makes you wonder how the Voodoo will be portrayed in the series.

In any case, I can’t wait. Take a look at the new videos below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the premiere. American Horror Story: Coven debuts on October 9th!

http://youtu.be/9g_9so4pmAg

American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

Briefly: Eidos has just announced the next chapter in the incredible Deus Ex saga.

It’s called Deus Ex: Universe, and it’s actually not just one game. As Head of Studio David Anfossi describes it, the idea behind Deus Ex: Universe “is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games. It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before. Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc…”

Deus Ex is a universe with countless stories to be told, and essentially infinite room for expansion. I’m a huge fan of the franchise (I remember playing the first title as a 12 year old boy on the first day that it hit the PS2). The idea behind Universe is one that’s a perfect fit for the franchise.

Anfossi continues:

I’m pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We’re very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game. It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise.

If you haven’t yet experienced 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I implore you to do so. It’s definitely one of the highlights of this generation. Take a peek at some Deus Ex: Universe concept art below, and let us know what you think of the announcement!

Briefly: Best-selling author Tom Clancy has died at 66.

An insurance-salesman turned novelist, Clancy’s first book, The Hunt for Red October, was purchased for just $5000.

Since, seventeen of Clancy’s novels were #1 New York Times best sellers, and several (including The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Jack Ryan, and  plenty of others) have been adapted into feature films.

His next and final novel, Command Authority hits shelves on December 3rd.

I know Clancy best from the video game franchises based on his work. Rainbox Six was a series that I followed for years, and the Splinter Cell series had numerous titles of exceptional quality.

A cause of death was not revealed, but we’ll be sure to update with that info as it’s announced.

What’s your favourite work by the author?

Briefly: The release date of Duncan Jones’ anticipated video game adaptation, Warcraft, has just been revealed.

2015 is sure set to be an amazing year for movies, huh? The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode VII, Batman vs. Superman (or whatever it’s called), Jurassic World, Fantastic Four, and plenty of other sure to be blockbusters are slated for the year. Now, Warcraft joins the bunch. The Legendary / Universal picture will hit theatres on December 18th, 2015.

Details on the film are still scarce. No actors have been officially cast (though allegedly discussions have begun), and we’re still not sure what sort of plot the film will follow. In any case, we’re excited as hell for this one. With Duncan Jones attached, and some of the rumoured actors that may be on board, Warcraft could be the best video game adaptation yet (and it wouldn’t even have to be that good to garner that title).

Are you looking forward to the film?

Briefly: I’d love to see a modern remake of Logan’s Run. Sadly, it really doesn’t seem like that’s ever going to happen.

In an interview with Twitchfilm, the most recent director attached to the project, Drive‘s Nicolas Winding Refn revealed the the remake (or at least his version) is dead:

It’s dead as dead can be. It’s a great shame but I realised a couple of things. I was so in love with the original that I think I was disillusioned by the fact that if I made a remake I would be closer to the original, I would be part of the original more than any other, and I realised that that was a lie. That was illusion. It wouldn’t be like that. And also if I was going to make a $100 or $200 million movie, and trade off my creative freedom for that price, it needed to be something that was going to outweigh that loss. Because at the same time I’m very lucky to be able to make the films I make, and to exchange that for a larger canvas really needs to feel like the right swap. Logan’s Run just wasn’t it at the end. But I was able to take one of my ideas and put them into Barbarella, like Dune, I stole a little bit from what didn’t happen and put it into something else. That way the trade-off wasn’t so significant. But I think that maybe those kind of things only work if you stumble and fall.

Last we heard, Bioshock Infinite writer Ken Levine was tapped to write the film. Does this mean that Logan’s Run is down for the count? Or will another director simply jump on board?

I guess this news means that Ryan Gosling is out too. Do you think that Logan’s Run will ever make it out of development hell? Who would you like to see take over as director? Sound out below!

Briefly: There’s just a few more weeks of waiting until Kimberly Peirce’s long awaited Carrie remake hits theatres, and MGM has just debuted a new TV spot for the film.

The teaser looks to feature a few seconds of new footage, but mostly reminds us that high school is freaking rough, especially for anyone who’s even a little bit different.

I’ve been waiting for this modern Carrie reimagining for some time now, and was highly disappointed when the film was delayed earlier this year. Take a look at the new spot below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Carrie! The film hits theatres on October 18th!

Briefly: Back in June we learned that Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert and Double Fine Productions’ collaboration, The Cave, was headed to iOS. Today, we learned just when we’ll able to get our greasy fingers on it.

The Cave first launched in January of this year. It’s an adventure/puzzle title with all of the quirks that you’d expect from Gilbert and Double Fine, and right from the game’s first trailer, I was sold. It looks beautiful, it sounds great, and it’s said to be hilarious. Somehow, I still haven’t had a chance to play the game. Maybe once it’s on the device that’s always in my pocket?

Sega revealed earlier today that The Cave will launch on iOS this Thursday. The Universal app will cost a cool $4.99 / £2.99/ €4.49, and should be well worth the asking price.

Take a look at the character trailer for The Cave below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up (or if you’ve already played it)!

Briefly: Marvel today debuted two new TV spots for their highly anticipated Thor: The Dark World.

The spots don’t seem to feature any new footage, but do recut what we’ve already seen into an epic new order. Seriously, the new Thor looks awesome, and as I’ve said before, it looks like everything that Iron Man 3 should have been.

Take a look at the new spots below, and let us know what you think! Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on November 8th.

Briefly: Following the red-band trailer released a few weeks back, Open Road Films has just debuted a new character poster for Machete Kills.

Briefly: Following the opening credits reveal and new promos from just a few days back, FX today debuted two new teasers for the upcoming American Horror Story: Coven.

With just 11 days to go until the season premiere, I wonder just how many  teasers they could possibly have up their sleeves. Seriously, there has to be at least two dozen by now.

The two newest videos, titled “The Stand” and “Black Hat” are effective as always, and do a good job of reminding me that I can’t wait until October 9th. Take a look at the new videos below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Neill Blomkamp’s second feature film, Elysium, hit theatres a few months back, making some massive dough at the box office. Within days, his third feature, a robot tale called Chappie, was greenlit.

Today, it was revealed that Hugh Jackman has joined the project. Jackman announced today at a Prisoners press conference that “I am doing a role in Neill’s new film, called Chappie, which we shoot in Johannesburg. I’m there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year.”

Plot details for Chappie are still scarce, though we do know that it tells the story of a robot imbued with artificial intelligence who is stolen by two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes.

There’s no word yet on what role Jackman will play in the film, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we find out!

What do you think of Blomkamp’s work thus far? Are you looking forward to Chappie? Sound out below!

Briefly: We know the official title (though still no plot details), we’ve seen plenty of fancy cars, and now we have our first official image of some of Transformers: Age of Extinction‘s human cast!

Michael Bay himself debuted the photo earlier today, which depicts Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor on the set of the highly anticipated film.

As I’ve said before, I hated the first Transformers, and haven’t seen either Revenge of the Fallen or Dark of the MoonAge of Extinction, however, looks to be shaping up pretty nicely. With a cast including Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, and Kelsey Grammar among others, this one may be hard for me to avoid!

Briefly: Microsoft knows just how much fans are itching to try out the Xbox One, so the company is giving consumers all over the US, Canada, and Europe a chance to play the system before its launch this November.

It’s called the One Tour, and it’ll hit 175 different locations beginning October 1st (and continuing through the end of the year). Gamers will have the opportunity to play the new console on one of four decked-out Xbox One trucks, as well as attend a variety of different parties in Area One events (though these events are 18+).

It’s sounds like an awesome way to build buzz for the console after the dismal announcement and confusing (though rectified) policies. By getting controllers into consumer’s hands this early on, I’m sure they can win over some skeptics! It’s sounds like a damn fun time too!

Take a look at all of the cities that are included in the One Tour, and head to Microsoft’s One Tour website for more info. I just may have to take a trip over to Vancouver to see what it’s all about!

Briefly: I love survival horror. At least, I love what survival horror used to be. Sure, we had the absolutely incredible The Last of Us earlier this year (though that was much more survival than horror), and there’s some excellent looking PC titles on the market right now (Outlast anyone?). Sadly, the once mighty greats of the genre have fallen, and current Resident Evil and Silent Hill titles are nothing but average action games.

With The Evil Within, Bethesda Softworks and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami are hoping to reinvigorate the classic survival horror genre, and I couldn’t be more excited. A new, extended gameplay video for the title has just been released, and it looks absolutely unreal.

Take a look at the footage below, and let us know what you think! The Evil Within is still a ways away, and simply has a release date of 2014 at this point, but the game will launch on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4.

Briefly: It looks like Gotham isn’t the only comic book based TV series being announced this week.

THR has learned that NBC and David Goyer are developing a series based on DC’s Constantine franchise.

Little else is known at this time, but it’s probably safe to bet that the series will hold very few similarities to the 2005 film of the same name. At this point, the network has committed to a script plus penalty, meaning that a series (or even a pilot) hasn’t been fully greenlit yet, but they’re actively working on it.

Is it just me? Or does it seem like every new show being announced is based on a comic book? Let us know what you think of the news below, and sound out on who you’d like to see play the titular character!

We’ll share more Constantine info as soon as it’s available!
