Briefly: Double Fine Productions’ Costume Quest surprised all of us when it suddenly appeared on the iOS App Store just a few weeks ago.

To celebrate the fact that Halloween is nearly here, the game has just gone on sale for the first time. Normally, the title would cost you a very reasonable $4.99, but through October 31st, Costume Quest is available for $2.99 (plus the DLC expansion is now just $0.99)!

If you’re an iOS user, you should be jumping on the opportunity to play this lauded, extremely overlooked gem. Head here to download, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: I did not expect this news today (or ever, really).

Double Fine Production’s wonderfully quirky adventure/RPG, Costume Quest, just hit the iOS App Store for the fantastic price of $4.99.

The game first launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 back in October 2010, where its originality, humour, and Paper Mario-esque combat were lauded by critics. Sadly, as seems typical with Double Fine titles, Costume Quest remained relatively under-the-radar. Could this iOS port give it the recognition it deserves?

Really, it’s a wonderful title, and one that is well worth its $4.99 asking price. It’s already a huge month for video games (in the last 30 days I’ve picked up Grand Theft Auto VThe Wind Waker HD, and Beyond: Two Souls… and Pokémon X/Y haven’t even released yet), but I’d implore you to take the chance on this one.

Already play the game? Be sure to share your thoughts on it below! You can grab the iOS version of Costume Quest here!

Briefly: Back in June we learned that Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert and Double Fine Productions’ collaboration, The Cave, was headed to iOS. Today, we learned just when we’ll able to get our greasy fingers on it.

The Cave first launched in January of this year. It’s an adventure/puzzle title with all of the quirks that you’d expect from Gilbert and Double Fine, and right from the game’s first trailer, I was sold. It looks beautiful, it sounds great, and it’s said to be hilarious. Somehow, I still haven’t had a chance to play the game. Maybe once it’s on the device that’s always in my pocket?

Sega revealed earlier today that The Cave will launch on iOS this Thursday. The Universal app will cost a cool $4.99 / £2.99/ €4.49, and should be well worth the asking price.

Take a look at the character trailer for The Cave below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up (or if you’ve already played it)!

This is a game that I’ve been dying to play for some time, but have never had the chance. This release can only be good for me!

Double Fine Productions and Ron Gilbert’s (yep, the creator of Monkey IslandThe Cave first launched in January of this year. It’s an adventure/puzzle title with all of the quirks that you’d expect from this pairing, and right from the game’s first trailer, I was sold. It looks beautiful, it sounds great, and it’s said to be hilarious.

TouchGen got some hands-on time with The Cave at this year’s E3… for a whole new platform. The title is being adapted for iOS devices, and will release on the iOS App Store sometime this Summer. According to their playtime, the port looks just as good as any other version of the game, and has some cool controls very suited to a touchscreen.

Need a refresher? Watch the character trailer for The Cave below, and let us know if you’ll be playing on your iPad!

Last month we showed you a wonderful trailer for Ron Gilbert’s upcoming adventure, The Cave. The quirky title quickly jumped to the top of my most-wanted list, where it will stay until it lands in my greedy digital hands.

Looks like I (and anyone else who’s looking forward to it… but mostly me) won’t have much longer to wait, as publisher Sega of America announced that The Cave will be available next week for the cool (and ridiculously low) price of $14.99 on all platforms.

Wii U and PS3 players will be able to start their adventure on Tuesday, January 22nd, while Microsoft and Valve loyals will be waiting until the 23rd.

Get excited, The Cave is going to be something special.

The-Cave-3

Ron Gilbert and Double Fine are both names to get very excited about. Ron Gilbert of course has quite the resume himself, and his name should be instantly recognized for creating the world of Monkey Island. Double Fine also has an extensive list of titles, but is most revered for 2005’s brilliantly weird platformer, Psychonauts.

All the way back in 2010 it was announced that Gilbert and Double Fine would be working together on a new title, and the gaming world went wild. That title is The Cave, and it’s now barely a month away from release. It also looks to be an absolute masterpiece.

A new trailer has just been released for The Cave, showing off some of the quirky characters you’ll be playing as, as well as the narrator who it turns out… is a talking cave!

The game looks absolutely phenomenal. Watch this trailer, get excited. Repeat as necessary.

Sony just published a great interview with Gilbert, focussing on the trials and tribulations of making The Cave, and of course how he came to find himself at Double Fine. A very interesting tidbit however, was the reveal of Gilbert’s favourite character creation. Guybrush Threepwood is the among the most beloved characters of countless gamers worldwide, so it’s nice to know that he’s right at the top of his creator’s list too.

The Cave will release in January for Wii U, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Excited?
