Briefly: Could you imagine a world where Netflix began to win Academy Awards for their original films?

Because I think that’s what they’re shooting for here.

The first trailer for the Idris Elba starring Beasts of No Nation has just hit the web, and it looks heavy in content and incredible in production value. Directed by Cary Fukunaga, the same talent behind True Detective‘s ingenious first season, I definitely think that this will be a film to watch out for come awards season.

In the film, “when civil war tears his family apart, a young West African boy is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters and transform into a child soldier.” Yep. Heavy stuff.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: I love Pikmin.

I was absolutely floored that Pikmin 3 ever happened. Nintendo has a lot of properties that haven’t received new titles in years, and I didn’t know that Pikmin sold well enough to warrant another title any time soon.

Well, apparently Pikmin 4 is happening, and it may be closer than we think.

In a just-released interview with Eurogamer (held back in July), Miyamoto revealed news of the next Pikmin game:

“It’s actually very close to completion,” Miyamoto said. “Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”

Sure, it’s just a single sentence, but it’s a sentence that makes me so happy.

Nintendo confirmed that the title was in fact. in development, but would not comment on a platform or release date.

Excited? What do you hope to see in the next game? Sound out below!

Pikmin

Briefly: Trailer heavy day today, isn’t it?

With just a few weeks remaining until Marvel’s popular Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has its third season premiere, Yahoo! has given us a quick sneak peak at what we can expect to see later this month.

It’s pretty clear to me… that this show has changed a lot since I stopped watching it. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to binge what I’ve missed sooner rather than later, because everything that’s coming looks cool as hell.

Plus there’s that Mockingbird-centric series that’ll probably be awesome.

Take a look at the first footage below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the September 26th premiere.

Briefly: iZombie is (finally) almost back on The CW, and the network has (finally) debuted the first show but sweet trailer for the upcoming episodes.

The footage looks just as light-hearted and fun as everything we saw in season one, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for Liv and company next.

In the series, “A med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.”

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. iZombie returns on October 6th!

Briefly: Finally, finally, finally, it’s nearly new Amiibo day.

Which is a fantastic, and extremely stressful day.

Adding to all of the stress, aside from the always sparse stock, are the retailer exclusive characters. Unless you’re really lucky, you pretty much have to decide which exclusive character you like best, because it’s seriously unlikely you’ll have a chance to grab them all.

The latest in the long line of retailer exclusive figures is Bowser Jr., who will only be found at Toys R Us stores next Friday.

The announcement came from the official Toys R Us twitter page, so we can all sigh at them in unison.

September 11th will also bring the 30th Anniversary Mario Classic Color, Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Olimar, and Dr. Mario (exclusive to Target) figures.

Which will you be trying to grab? All of them? Yeah, me too.

Briefly: I feel like Warner Bros. did a really bad job released Mad Max today, on the very same day as the release of the probably-last-ever Metal Gear game.

But, the game is pretty awesome (at least from what I’ve seen, my fiancé has been hogging it all day), and the publisher has just released an equally awesome launch trailer to go with it.

The graphics, mechanics, voice acting, music, and more all look great from what I’ve seen so far, and I really can’t wait to get my hands on it. I feel almost as tortured as Max is, however, as once it’s my turn on the PS4, I’ll likely skip Max at first to play the it’s-so-deep-I’ll-never-finish-it Metal Gear Solid V.

Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: We’re just over a month away from American Horror Story‘s anticipated return, and as in past years, the short, creepy, fantastic teasers have returned.

Last month’s lone teaser depicted a gruesome hand ringing, naturally, a hotel call bell (this season’s subtitle is Hotel). It was actually Lady Gaga’s hand, as Gaga takes centre stage in this season of the celebrated series. Last week, two even creepier teasers hit the web.

Today, three further teasers have debuted online, both short as ever, and both showing off some pretty gruesome imagery. I won’t spoil them for you, so take a few seconds with the each below, and let us know what you think!

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres on October 7th.

Briefly: Say goodbye to your life, everyone.

Back in June, Nintendo revealed that their addicting as heck, impossible to put down, incredibly fun puzzle title Pokémon Shuffle was headed to iOS and Android platforms.

We hadn’t heard much on the subject until today, when the free-to-play game magically appeared on both the App Store and Google play.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it plays pretty similar to Bejewelled or Candy Crush, except it’s way, way better. In the game, “your goal is to clear various stages by lining up the same Pokémon and clearing these matches from the puzzle area. Within each puzzle stage, you can deal damage to the wild Pokémon you face by lining up three of the same Pokémon to clear them. Battle and try to catch the Pokémon before you run out of moves.”

Again, it’s incredibly fun, and incredibly addictive, so go on and give it a download, but be careful.

Take a look at the mobile trailer below, download it from the App Store or Google Play, and be sure to let us know if you’re enjoying the game!

Briefly: We’re teaming up with our friends at Skype and SkypeMoments to do something brand new: conversations with fellow Geek creators via Skype! These are in depth discussions about the creative process, influences, advice and the ups and downs of the creator life!

This episode we’ve got fellow comic book writer Judd Winick (Green Lantern, Green Arrow, eXiles) talking about his brand new All Ages book Hilo! Judd wrote and drew the book himself… and it’s the first of six, so he has a lot to say about the process of writing for others, making something yourself and just getting your foot in the door!

It’s really an incredible conversation between two great creatives (Winick and our very own Jonathan London, duh), and it’s one of the lengthiest, focussed, in-depth Geekscape conversations that I’ve heard in some time.

Enjoy! And you can order your very own copy of the first Hilo book right here!

Briefly: Gotham is just a few weeks away from premiering its anticipated second season, and Fox has just released a new clip from the upcoming episodes.

The clip takes us inside Arkham Asylum for (I think, I don’t actually watch the show) the first time, and focusses on a Barbara Kean conversation with probably-not-Joker-even-though-they-want-us-to-think-he-is Jerome Valeksa.

You can take a look at the clip below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Gotham‘s return on September 21st!

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

Briefly: Do you remember the unexceptional Deadpool game that released for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in 2013?

No?

Well, soon you’ll get your chance to give it another shot, as Deadpool is making the jump to PS4 and Xbox One.

The updated version will release on November 17th for $50, and include all of the DLC that was available for the original game.

It’s certainly an interesting release, as typically games that get current-gen re-releases are quite well received. Deadpool, on the other hand, received negative-average ratings from most publications.

In any case, if you’re a Deadpool fan who missed out on the game last time around, you’re about to get your chance.

Briefly: That leaked Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End release date from a few weeks back?

Well, it was off. But it wasn’t off by much.

Sony today officially revealed just when we’ll be able to step back into Nathan Drake’s shoes, and it’s just six months away: March 18th, 2016.

Deluxe and collector’s editions of the game have also been revealed:

SpecialThe special edition will include cost $79.99 US ($99.99 CAD), and include:

-Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Blu-ray Disc
-Collectible Steelbook case designed by Alexander “That Kid Who Draws” Iaccarino
-48-page hardcover art book by Dark Horse and Naughty Dog
-Naughty Dog & Pirate Sigil sticker sheet
-Naughty Dog Points: A pack of in-game currency to unlock various multiplayer content

CollectorThe collector’s edition runs $119.99 US, and includes:

-A 12″ premium Nathan Drake statue by Gentle Giant
-Three multiplayer outfits: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Heist Drake, and Desert Drake outfits
-Two custom weapon skins: Golden Weapon Skin and Desert Weapon Skin
-Henry Avery Sigil ball cap
-Madagascar Sidekick outfits

So just six months to think about which edition you’d like to buy. Are you looking forward to the March release? What do you hope to see in the fourth and likely not at all final game in the series?

It’s hard to believe that Until Dawn is finally here. First announced for the Playstation 3 back at GamesCom in 2012, as a survival-horror fan I was instantly enamoured with the idea of playing through a slasher flick. The first-person perspective, Playstation Move-based title was to be the game that would have me dust off my Move controllers, and the immersion of actually controlling the character’s flashlights would likely prove too much for me to handle.

Then, Until Dawn disappeared, only to re-emerge at GamesCom 2014 as a Playstation 4 exclusive. In its transition to a new generation, Until Dawn lost its first-person perspective and Move support, and gained some gorgeous visuals and a talented, recognizable cast. Pretty fair trade, if you ask me (though that Move support actually looked awesome).

https://youtu.be/4yQsa3uwkR8

Now it’s August 2015, and Until Dawn is finally here, though unless you were waiting for its release, you probably had no idea, as Sony’s marketing machine is apparently turned off for this title. It sort of makes sense, as earlier this year the publisher released another very cinematic, short (really short) title (The Order: 1886) that had gamers polishing their pitchforks because ‘it wasn’t a real game’.

The story is rife with horror tropes, and for the most part, they actually all work pretty well. You’ll take control of eight (old looking) teens gathered at a remote (Canadian) mountain lodge over the course of one night. They’re there on the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of two of their friends (who disappeared from the same remote mountain lodge), to remember them, and to, of course, party. Things turn sour pretty quickly, as the group discovers that they’re not as alone as they thought they were. It’s then up to you to ensure that they survive UNTIL DAWN… Did I mention that the surrounding area also contains an abandoned sanatorium and a partially collapsed mine with a terrible history?

Yep, the story is cheesy (and campy) as hell, but every trope and cliché actually lends itself quite well to the tone of the game. You feel as though you’re playing through a slasher flick, but a fun slasher flick that never takes itself overly seriously. Until Dawn builds a phenomenal atmosphere, and can be truly terrifying at (many) times, but you’ll find yourself laughing just as often as you feel your palms sweating from fear. It’s really a great balance that’s designed to keep you playing the game, which is a huge paradigm shift from all-scary games like Alien: Isolation (which I love but can only play in 20-minute chunks).

Sorry Shane, the towel stays on.
Sorry Shane, the towel stays on.

Now, to really enjoy Until Dawn you’ll likely need to be a fan of either horror (duh), David Cage style games like Beyond: Two Souls or Heavy Rain, or at least open minded to an atypical gaming experience. Just like the aforementioned titles, Until Dawn plays like more of a heavily interactive movie than it does a traditional video game. Sure, you’ll get to walk around a lot of tense, dark, scary locales, but most of the ‘action’ is regulated to tough, time-limited choices and quicktime events. Things start out fairly forgiving, miss a quicktime event and you’ll likely have a chance to recover, but later in the game I found times where one missed button press led to a character’s demise. There are also some truly terrifying (and clever) ‘Don’t Move’ moments, in which you must hold the DualShock 4 controller as still as possible in order to remain hidden. These were definitely some of the most stressful moments in my play through of the game.

As I mentioned earlier, you’re taking control of eight potential survivors over the course of the game. The evening is broken up into ten chapters that seem to split playtime fairly evenly between most of the characters. Between each chapter you’ll have a therapy session with Dr. Alan Hill, a creepy as hell psychiatrist who analyzes your fears, which characters you like and dislike (you’re going to dislike Emily), and tells you just how much you’re screwing things up. According to Supermassive Games, every character can survive the night, or everyone can die, depending entirely on the choices that you make. This means that you’ll probably want to replay the game (I know that I did the instant that I finished it), and that things can turn out starkly different each time you play. As always, there are a variety of collectible ‘clues’ to be found that provide you with some interesting backstory, and (of course) gets you closer to that cherished Platinum Trophy.

DrHill

Visually, the game is gorgeous. It runs on the Killzone: Shadowfall engine which seems to have aged extremely well over these past two years. There really isn’t an aspect of the game that doesn’t look good. Indoor and outdoor environments have a very real feel to them, trees and branches sway in the wind, your characters leave tracks (or even blood) in the snow. Cinematography in the game is simply brilliant, constant, tense camera angles echo the early days of Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and do a fantastic job of making you feel as though you’re seconds away from the next scare, even if you’re nowhere near it. The characters themselves look and sound phenomenal; Supermassive used recognizable talent like Heroes Hayden Paettiere, Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek, and many more, and performance capture technology akin to Rockstar’s LA Noire to skyrocket the game’s production values and make it feel even more like an interactive film.

Optimization, however, leaves a bit to be desired. The game can go from silky smooth to a stuttering mess from time to time, which can really break the fantastic immersion felt the rest of the time. There’s the occasional lip sync issue, and I had a few instances where sound effects seemed as though they didn’t hit at just the right time (which is, of course, immensely important to a horror title). Other (non-technical) issues are few and far between; a so-cheesy-its-bad line of dialogue here and there, etc. I’ve read a few opinions stating that the story took a too-crazy turn for its third act, but I found the misdirection to be incredibly clever, and the third act to be, by far, the most tense section of the game.

UD2

If you can’t tell from the 1000+ words you’ve just read, I had a freaking blast with Until Dawn. I played through its ten hour journey in just three sittings, and it was one of the hardest games in recent memory to actually stop playing. I’m itching to jump back in and just see what else I can discover, see how many characters I can actually save, and to dig deeper into the troubled history of the mountain.

Until Dawn scores a campy 4/5.

+ Visuals, sound, atmosphere are phenomenal

+ Extremely well paced, interesting plot

+ Stellar performances

– Occasional technical issues

– A few lines that are too cheesy for their own good

– Emily is the worst

Coolest feature that I wasn’t able to test: If you own a Playstation Camera, the game will actually record your reactions to certain scary moments. Super clever.

Briefly: It’s pretty freaking clear that the world cannot get enough of The Walking Dead. From decade-running comic, to the cable-leading main series, to the record breaking companion, to multiple award winning video games (and a new mobile game), it seems as though every single thing with The Walking Dead branding on it is bound for immense success.

We hope that you’re ready for even more The Walking Dead, as EW has just revealed that AMC is planning an awesome-sounding standalone special, one that’s set to take place on a plane in the same time-period as Fear the Walking Dead.

The 30-minute special will debut online at an unannounced time, and also be broken up for airing during The Walking Dead‘s commercial breaks.

While zombies on a plane sound interesting enough, the coolest aspect of the news has to be the revelation that one character who somehow survives the attack will join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead in season two.

I thoroughly enjoyed World War Z‘s airplane scene, and though I definitely avoided 2007’s Flight of the Living Dead, I’m really excited to see what AMC does with this standalone (and whether or not they keep us guessing as to who may survive).

The special will be produced by Fear the Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson (who I spoke to back at SDCC) and co-executive producer David Weiner, so at least we know that it’s in good hands.

What do you hope to see in the special? Sound out below!

Briefly: Mortal Kombat fan eagerly awaiting the release of Mortal Kombat X on PS3 or Xbox 360 because you haven’t bitten the bullet on a current generation console yet?

Well, we hope that you weren’t holding your breath. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed today that the game will not release for either console.

Here’s the announcement, straight from the official forum:

After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game. We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned.

If you pre-ordered Mortal Kombat X for PS3 or Xbox 360, please go to the retail location where you pre-ordered the game and you will receive a full refund.

We figured that something was up when the past-gen version of the game was delayed just before launch, but we didn’t see this coming.

Disappointed? Is it enough to make you pick up a PS4 or Xbox One? Sound out below.

Briefly: As a huge fan of Heroes initial four season run (yes, I watched it all the way through), I was beyond excited when NBC announced Heroes Reborn in February of last year. The first series ended with an infuriating cliffhanger, and after a resolution was promised via a film, and then via comic book, and then essentially never spoken about again, I thought that surely the universe of Heroes was simply dead.

And then Heroes Reborn was announced, and people like Jack Coleman and Masi Oka were confirmed to return, and I’ve pretty much been squealing with anticipation ever since.

We’re fast approaching Heroes Reborn‘s September 24th premiere date, and NBC has just debuted two cool new promos for the upcoming event series. Both feature a classic Mohinder voiceover that really bring me back to high school.

Take a look at the promos below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: We showed off its first gameplay trailer earlier this month, and just a couple of weeks later The Walking Dead: Road to Survival has hit the iOS App Store, as well as Google Play.

The game “is a mature, intense, story-driven game that emulates the ongoing struggle to survive in a harsh and unforgiving world overrun by vicious Walkers and ruthless fellow survivors. Difficult decisions must be made that determine who lives or dies and how future events unfold in the game’s narrative. Gamers play alongside iconic characters such as Rick, Michonne and the Governor as they navigate the challenges of collecting resources, building and fortifying their compounds, searching for and rescuing fellow survivors, all while managing to fend off the onslaught of the undead.”

Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it? Development of the title was overseen by The Walking Dead creator himself, Robert Kirkman, so I certainly hope its up to the standards set by the phenomenal graphic novel.

Kirkman notes that “Working with the Scopely team, we’ve had the unique opportunity to translate The Walking Dead story into a deeply interactive and engaging mobile experience. The game design, the aesthetic, the tone and the writing have all come together in an authentic way that we know Walking Dead fans will love.”

Take a look at the game’s official TV spot below, and head to the iOS App Store or Google Play to download.

Briefly: We’re still well over a year away from its release, but Yahoo! Movies has just debuted our very first look at Michael Fassbender in the anticipated Assassin’s Creed film.

It’s hard to tell from just an image, but he looks to make a much better assassin than he does computer company CEO.

His character’s name is Callum Lynch, and Yahoo! notes that “Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.”

So basically the plot sounds about as convoluted as it is in the game.

But we’re still excited anyways.

In any case, take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think! Assassin’s Creed hits theatres on December 21st, 2016!

Briefly: Yep. The last bunch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater titles have been awful.

The upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, however, actually looks really cool. That being said, its garnering pretty much universal hate online.

Sure, it’s hard to feel too positive for THPS5 after the franchise’s track record in recent years, but Tony and team are aware of the series’ missteps, and is certainly looking to fix them with the upcoming release. So far, 5 is looking far, far more solid than the last few games in the series.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think! Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 hits stores on September 29th.

Briefly: Well this is gorgeous.

Square-Enix has just revealed the insane collector’s edition for its upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The package includes:

– Full retail copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

– 12″-tall statue of Lara Croft, which depicts her searching for answers on her first Tomb Raiding Expedition.

– Collectible Steel Case, crafted with the symbol of an artifact.

– A replica of Lara´s leather in-game journal.

– A model of Lara´s Jade Necklace, including the pendant that was her first archeological discovery, and the strap that was given to her by Conrad Roth, her late mentor.

The package is currently available from the official Tomb Raider Store, as well as the Square Enix online store. It’ll cost you $150, which may sounds steep, but that figure is a freaking foot tall.

Rise

The edition has only been revealed for the Xbox One edition thus far, but hopefully it’ll head to the PS4 version once that finally comes out.

Are you going to be picking this one up? Sound out below!

Briefly: With less than two months until the anticipated season premiere, The CW has just debuted the official key art for the upcoming episodes of The Flash.

The image shows the character in his new suit, and it looks damned cool.

I’m way behind on The Flash, but I should probably get on catching up, shouldn’t I? Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Following the bloody new trailer from just a few days back, Starz has just debuted a new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Ash vs. Evil Dead.

I think I’m looking forward to this even more than the return of that other undead series. It’s absolutely incredible to me that in this world of typically terrible reboots (Total Recall, etc), campy 70’s horror like Evil Dead can transform into what looks like an incredible, completely hilarious television show.

Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know how excited you are for the series. Ash vs. Evil Dead premieres on October 31st!

Briefly: I never realized how emotional this moment would be.

The launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has just debuted online, and more than an exciting trailer for what’s bound to be one of the best games of the year (if not the generation), this final Hideo Kojima-directed video feels like the lauded director’s sombre goodbye to his baby.

Since the first time that I played Metal Gear Solid as an eight year old in 1998, I’ve been enthralled with the series, its incredible characters, its mind-blowing gameplay, and even its convoluted and confusing story.

Now, with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Hideo’s vision is all but coming to an end. After his falling out with Konami which also led to Silent Hills getting the axe, it’s pretty safe to say the next game from the creator will be picked up by another publisher.

The trailer takes us through quick glimpses of each main-series Metal Gear title, all while depressing, minor-keyed music plays in the background. Afterwards, we get a glimpse of a gigantic new Metal Gear which looks like a tough-as-nails opponent. Quick credits reveal Kojima’s name about 100 times (which would be 100 times more than the box art will), and then it all fades to black.

Anyone else wish they could give Kojima a hug?

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases on September 1st.

Briefly: Just one day after the insanely successful premiere of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, the network has debuted a stylish new teaser for the upcoming season of The Walking Dead proper.

The video definitely puts style over substance, as it basically just creatively shows off our survivors along with some neat music. But after last night’s Fear premiere, you’re just itching for whatever Walking Dead you can feast your eyes on, aren’t you?

Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to season six.

Briefly: It’s been a long time coming (like a whole console generation), but we’re finally just a week away from the launch of the Mad Max video game.

I know how excited Shane’s been for the title, but for some reason it’s slipped under my radar until now. Then I watched this newly released TV Spot and realized that it’s a freaking Mad Max video game.

How could it not be great?

The graphics, mechanics, voice acting, music, and more all look great from the videos that I’ve seen so far, and I really can’t wait to get my hands on it. I feel almost as tortured as Max is, however, as of course the game launches on the same day as the it’s-so-deep-I’ll-never-finish-it Metal Gear Solid V.

Take a look at the spot below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up.

Briefly: It’s been nearly 10 years since us Westerners have had the opportunity to (officially) play a Fatal Frame title. Back at E3, Nintendo revealed that the drought was set to end with the US release of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water this Fall, and now we know just when we’ll be able to get our Camera Obscura on.

Nintendo today revealed the game’s North American release date, as well as details on just how you’ll be able to get your hands on the title.

Just in time for Halloween, Maiden of Black Water will exclusively launch on the Wii U eShop on October 22nd. That’s right collector’s, you won’t be able to pick up the game physically, so just be glad that we get to play it at all.

Interestingly enough, players can download the free-to-start game and play the prologue, chapter 1 and most of chapter 2 for free. If you like it, the full version of the game can be purchased as DLC directly from the Nintendo eShop or via the in-game menu. It’ll cost $62.49 in my country (Canada), and $49.99 in the USA.

How excited are you to play through this one? Did you import Fatal Frame 4 when it didn’t come to our region? Sound out below!

Briefly: The most exciting piece of news that Nintendo revealed this morning?

Nope. Not Fatal Frame, though I’m beyond excited to know when I’ll finally be able to get my hands on that too.

It’s the damned expensive, damned incredible Mega Yarn Yoshi Amiibo.

Because if buying a blue, pink, and green Yarn Yoshi weren’t already going to put a big enough dent in your wallet, on October 16th you’ll also be able to spend a new retail game worth of cash of the Mega version. It’ll cost a cool $39.99 in the USA, while Canadians like myself will be forking out $59.99.

What’s it do? Well, aside from looking awesome, when tapped to the GamePad controller in Yoshi’s Woolly World, Mega Yarn Yoshi activates “Double Yoshi,” a second Yoshi to use at any point in the middle of a stage, as well as the ability to save their favourite Yoshi pattern to the amiibo.

It’s a cool ability, and it’s also the exact same thing that the standard Yarn Yoshi will do in the game.

In any case, I’ll take two! How about you?

Yeah baby.

I think I’m looking forward to this even more than the return of that other undead series. Briefly: We’re just a couple of months away from American Horror Story‘s anticipated return, and as in past years, the short, creepy, fantastic teasers have returned.

Last month’s lone teaser depicted a gruesome hand ringing, naturally, a hotel call bell (this season’s subtitle is Hotel). It was actually Lady Gaga’s hand, as Gaga takes centre stage in this season of the celebrated series.

Briefly: With just a few weeks to go until Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials hits theatres, Fox has debuted a short new trailer for the film that features a few exciting pieces of new footage.

Now, I’ve never read the series of novels by James Dashner, so I have no clue what to expect next month. All that I know is that I thoroughly enjoyed The Maze Runner, and I cannot wait to see what Thomas and the Gladers get up to next.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials hits theatres on September 18th!

In this next chapter of the epic “Maze Runner” saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.
