Evo 2016’s full lineup of games has been announced, and it looks pretty amazing! The games announced are: Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Pokken Tournament, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat X, and Tekken 7 Fated Retribution.

evo-2016-lineup-stream

It’s interesting to note that quite a few of the games, such as Pokken Tournament and Street Fighter V are released this year, with Tekken 7 most likely to be arcade exclusive when Evo arrives.  There’s no doubt that character and strategy tiers will still be in debate by the Fighting Game Community, so it is very likely that we will see many diverse matches.  It is also worth noting that Nintendo in particular holds 1/3rd of the game lineup, beating Capcom in that regard, which is unprecedented!

“The Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short) represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world.”  This year, Evo will be taking place from July 15-17 at Las Vegas, Nevada, although one doesn’t have to go in person to experience the excitement–they also to live streams on Twitch and other live stream channels. Because of the scale of this event, it is very common for companies that manage fighting game brands to announce new games and characters for existing games in the days leading up to, and during Evo.  One such character, Nina Williams, was announced yesterday.  Nina Williams is a veteran character of the Tekken series, and is most notably known for her rivalry with her sister Anna Williams.  Her fighting technique is loosely based on Assassination Arts, and even though she and Anna are related, their fighting styles are distinctly different. We are glad to have her back!  Her new outfit sports a wedding dress, so we are also curious how this will fit into Tekken’s diverse storyline!

Capcom officially revealed the upcoming HD Remaster of Resident Evil 0 back in June, and aside from a couple of trailers and some screenshots, the publisher has been fairly quiet about the redux up to this point.

Today, Capcom revealed the game’s release date, along with some of the oddball costumers coming for pre-order customers.

Being a survival horror fan who missed out Resident Evil up to this point (and also a gamer who thoroughly enjoyed the remaster of Resident Evil), I’m pretty excited to see where the series chronologically began.

The Resident Evil 0 HD remaster will hit Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC on January 19th. 2016, and you can bet your undead ass that we’re excited to play it.

You can take a look at the costumes trailer below, and be sure to let us know if you’ll be giving Resident Evil 0 a download.

The dead live! Street Fighter Alpha favorite, Charlie Nash, is returning next year to consoles with the release of Street Fighter V. Fans can get a dose of Nash in the upcoming Machinima live action series Street Fighter: Resurrection. Check out the teaser trailer below!

https://youtu.be/mP8W-ezRwzk

Iconic heroes Ken and Ryu are reunited to face their deadliest threat yet. The long-presumed dead Charlie Nash is back, and is targeting legendary Street Fighter champions for mysterious reasons. Now it’s up to Ken and Ryu to uncover his lethal plan and discover if he is ally or enemy. Keep your friends close, and your guard up.

This announcement marks the return of director Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum, Snow White and the Huntsman), who in 2014 brought us the incredible Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. A live action retelling of Ken and Ryu’s back stories.

Set ten years after Assassin’s Fist, Resurrection stars Alain Moussi (Suicide Squad, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Pacific Rim) as Nash himself. Mike Moh (Empire) and Christian Howard (The World’s End) return as Ryu and Ken.

Street Fighter: Resurrection is a collaboration with Machinima and Capcom, and will premiere come March 2016 on the go90 streaming network.

With Ace Attorney 6 recently confirmed for an international release, it wouldn’t be long until we learned more about Phoenix Wright’s latest escapades. What better time to show your cards than this year’s Tokyo Game Show? At the event, Capcom released their first full trailer for the game, giving us a hint at what the turnabout lawyer has in store for his sixth outing.

Taking place in the kingdom of Kurain, this far off country uses a legal system known as “Futile Trials”. As the name suggests, all defendants are found guilty in this land that relies on mysticism over logic, especially with their ability to view the final moments of the victim’s life to pinpoint the culprit. Thus, this is a system with no defense attorney’s, but what happens when an ace attorney finds himself behind their walls?

The Ace Attorney 6 trailer implies that the next major game play addition will be the ability to examine the victim’s final moments, doing its best, mystic impression of Minority Report. As expected, Phoenix will find contradictions in these scenes, ultimately proving his client’s innocence as only an ace attorney can.

But we can’t discuss the trailer without pointing out its peculiarities. Like where are Apollo and Athena? Let’s hope Phoenix isn’t riding solo here, since I would love to see them develop more, especially after how well the fifth game handled them. And wait… Did they say Kurain!? Based on the theme of the trailer and the shape of the 6 in the title looking like a magatama, it seems like we’re heading back to the spirit channeling days of the original trilogy. If that’s the case, where’s Maya? Isn’t she the Master? What about Pearl? If nothing else, we can almost guarantee that we’ll be seeing the Fey girls again, but how has the Kingdom of Kurain drifted so far from the Kurain Villiage that we saw in the past? Are they even directly related outside of name? Agh, the questions!

We’ll find out when Ace Attorney 6 releases worldwide in 2016. What our your theories? Share them below!

As we get closer to Street Fighter V‘s 2016 release date, more of the roster has been slowly revealed. Unveiled in Dubai, the latest reveal is the second of four promised original characters with Rashid, a Middle Eastern fighter who uses the power of wind to compliment his nimble attacks.

Using parkour inspired movements to overwhelm his opponents, Rashid is a tech fanatic who is always on the lookout for the newest gadgets. A laid back fighter, this doesn’t mean opponents should take the newcomer lightly. When not lining up for hours outside the Apple Store, he can be found putting the hurt on his opponents pretty easily.

Check out Rashid’s screenshots and trailer below and let us know if you’re excited to try him out! Street Fighter V is headed to the PS4 and PC in early 2016.

Earlier today, Capcom announced that the next installment in the Ace Attorney series is already in development and well under way. While no release date has been announced yet, Shacknews has confirmed that Capcom will indeed be  bringing Ace Attorney 6 to the west. It’s also worth mentioning that there will be a playable demo of  the game this year at Tokyo Game Show. Check out some of these screenshots of  the game. Are you  excited for Ace Attorney 6?

Surprise! After a dedicated group of fans pushed for R. Mika, the female wrestler who looked up to Zangief from the Street Fighter Alpha series, to be added to the growing Street Fighter IV roster, they… Ultimately didn’t get what they wanted. But as they say, better late than never. Capcom has announced that R. Mika will make her re-debut as the latest character to be revealed for Street Fighter V, and she’s not alone!

Bringing in her tag team partner, Nadeshiko, (who was formerly only shown during some of Mika’s special attacks,) Mika’s V-Skill allows the pair to bring on some double team action. Allowing easy mix ups, Nadeshiko can attack from above, below or behind while the main player continues their standard assault. Naturally, when all else fails, you can always give them a Stone Cold Stunner.

So far, Capcom has done an amazing job with making each character feel unique compared to their past iterations, and Mika looks to be no exception. Who do you want to see join the cast next? Let us know in the comments, and make sure to watch the video below to see this pair in action.

Last week we let you know all about the official Resident Evil 2 Remake that was going down over at Capcom, and I speculated on the Geekscape Games Podcast that the team from Resident Evil 2: Reborn were going to be out of a job. WELL, I was right. Invader Games announced today on their official Facebook that they’re ceasing the project. TO GO WORK ON THE OFFICIAL REMAKE!

InvaderGames closes down the project of Resident Evil 2 Reborn and is invited by Capcom to discuss further ideas

Hello everybody!
First of all we want to thank all of you for the passion and the attachment that you have daily shown us. We’ll be always grateful.
Today we want to join us of a very special day for InvaderGames. After the official announcement of the Resident Evil 2 remake by Capcom, we officialise the end of the works on Resident Evil 2 Reborn.
Contrary to what might be thought, this is wonderful news for us and, as fans, we’re so happy that Capcom has decided to take the lead of the project and to develop the remake awaited for years by everybody (nobody could bring back to life the masterpiece of 1998 better than the creators themselves). Meanwhile as developers, we’re honoured to announce that we’ve been officially invited to meet Capcom.
Capcom called us up in advance of the announcement and asked us if we would mind stopping the project as they had longer term plans for a Resident Evil 2 Remake. They have invited us to a meeting to discuss further ideas.
Even though we cannot complete the project of Resident Evil 2 Reborn, we’re happy that what we’ve shown has achieved consents from worldwide fans and especially has been noticed from Capcom itself. We promise that the work done until now will be useful for future projects, we won’t disappoint your and our expectations.

Thank you again for letting us to be where we are now in spite of the long way that remains to be walked through, we hope to focus soon on the biggest professional chance that we could get. Once more, we’re very grateful to Capcom for having noticed our work and having appreciated as much the love we feel about the Resident Evil saga as developing videogames. It’s very rare to find such a leader company in the industry so much open minded and sensitive to the work of a growing studio like ours, guided by passion and competence.

News available soon, stay tuned!

InvaderGames Team

There is a lot of speculation from the fans of Reborn that the amount of attention it was receiving was enough for Capcom to pull the trigger on the official Remake. REGARDLESS, this is actually a fairly progressive move from a video game company. The modus operandi is typically to shut everything down, threaten lawsuits and brush the entire fan project under the rug.

It will be very exciting to see what Invader Games will be bringing to the table of this project.

Holy crap ‘scapists! It looks like Capcom has listened to its fans constants pleas. WE’RE GETTING A RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE!

Announced just earlier today, Producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi AKA “H”, confirmed the project has been approved by the higher ups at Capcom. The project was heavily influenced by fans, and H promises to keep the project updated by keeping in contact with the fans directly.

I am so excited for this game. Resident Evil 2 was the first survival horror game I ever played, and the remake of the original on the Gamecube was one of the my favorite games on the console. Let’s hope H and his team keep the game true to its roots.

Resident Evil 2 Remake will be released on the Unreal 4 engine. There is no release date as of yet.

Just in time for Gamescom, Capcom has revealed one more world warrior heading to Street Fighter V. Vega, the Spanish ninja who relies on his speed, power and long reaching claws to punish his opponents, returns with plenty of new tricks to keep the masked fighter fresh.

Every previous iteration of the Street Fighter II boss has relied on his claws for attacks, extending his reach and improving his strength while equipped. If he took enough damage, his claws would get knocked off, putting him at a disadvantage until he was able to recover them. This time around, that weakness has the potential to become a strength, since Vega now has two attack stances. His standard claw stance relies on many of the tricks we’ve expected from him for over 20 years, with fast, hard hitting attacks that are designed to confuse opponents. However, losing his claws acts as a second stance, granting him a series of new command grabs to confuse opponents further. Top this off with his V-Trigger, the Bloody Kiss, and Vega can now teleport behind enemies and slice them up with the toss of a rose. Oh, but if you are attached to that claw style, you better be careful, since claws can no longer be picked up once they’re dropped.

Like Ken before him, it’s easy to see that Vega is getting a pretty big overhaul, and not just because his alternate matador costume is now his default. He sounds like he’ll be a completely different beast on the battlefield, which is sure to excite new and old fans alike.

Are you excited to try out Vega’s new tricks? Who else do you want to see join the SFV roster? And why are they still asking you to pre-order for beta access when it didn’t work in the first place? Head down to the comments and start the discussion!

It looks like Blanka won’t be the only savage fighter this time around.

Remember that tease at the end of Ken’s reveal trailer? Some thought the painted face was E. Honda, while others guessed it could be a new character altogether. It turns out it was the latter.

Introducing Necalli, the animalistic fighter who looks and fights like the love child of Iori Yagami and Heavenly Sword‘s Nariko. Serving as an in your face rush down character, Necalli uses aggressive clawing and grab attacks to pressure his opponents into submission. When his V-Skill and V-Trigger come into play, he’s able to attack from afar with a controlled ground explosion, or will channel a powerful energy that changes his appearance respectively, with the latter altering his move set, frame data and Critical Art! With what could be considered two different move sets, opponents will have to be on their toes when going against this new threat.

As one of 16 characters debuting at launch, four of which will be brand new, it’ll be interesting to see how players take to Necalli when Street Fighter V launches next year. If these aren’t enough, all future DLC will be potentially free as well! Make sure to sign up for the PS4 beta by pre ordering before July 23rd, and let us know what you think of the game’s progress below.

Back when I played Resident Evil 2 for the first time, one of my favorite things to do after I finished the game was to run through the entire thing all over again in the alternate costumes that were unlocked for second runs. At a certain point, I’m pretty sure I developed a strange obsession with making Leon dress like a construction worker and find the right camera angles that would make his armpit hair visible, (which probably explains more about me than I’d care to admit.) Nonetheless, they were a simple, yet memorable way of extending the life of the game. After playing around with these new duds, I never thought gamers would get the chance to submit their own designs, but Capcom is giving us the chance to do just that with their Resident Evil 0 T-Shirt contest!

By heading over to the game’s site, would be designers can use the provided tools to create their own shirts for the game’s protagonist, Rebecca Chambers, to wear. Different voting tiers are opening up starting now, and lasting until the end of July for the first round. After all the rounds are done and the votes are tallied, the winning design will be included as a downloadable item when RE0 launches in 2016! Even if you don’t participate, everyone who votes will get the content for free when it launches.

Head over to the site and give it a shot, then head over here and share your spookiest designs with us! Killing zombies is easy, but being creative? That’s the most difficult task of all. Good luck!

What happens when two of the world’s most evil organizations join forces? We get a potentially awesome comic book!

Announced during Capcom’s Street Fighter V panel at Comic Con, IDW Publishing is releasing Street Fighter X GI Joe, a crossover event that brings together the Real American Heroes and the World Warriors. As the kind of stuff our Saturday mornings were made of back in the day, it’ll be interesting to see how well these worlds mesh together when the series is released in 2016.

While details are few, this sounds like an idea that’s crazy enough to work, (or at least give us a good laugh along the way.) Considering how well other comic crossovers have worked in the past though, I feel like this has a chance to surprise people throughout its run as much as the announcement surprised us in itself. Just imagine all of the wacky shenanigans a super powered dictator and an egotistical commander can get into together!

Will this series be on your radar? Let us know what you think!

In one of the least surprising announcements imaginable, Ken was revealed as the next fighter joining the cast of the upcoming Street Fighter V. As the only character aside from Ryu who has appeared in ever main line game, Ken is essentially known as American Karate guy, who gains a flaming uppercut and a few technical changes from his Japanese counterpart. Once the cocky martial artist actually appeared on screen though, dare I say something was actually different about the fighting game veteran!

At the Street Fighter V Comic Con panel, the Capcom-Unity team, (as well as SFIV’s project manager and SFV‘s executive producer, Yoshinori Ono,) promised us that Ken’s drastic change in appearance wasn’t the only aspect of the character that was getting an overhaul. For the first time in series history, the team promised that the fighter we affectionately know as “red Ryu” will be a completely unique character who uses powerful, “showstopping” attacks that helps players fight aggressively, (and look good doing it!) His unique V-Skill would further separate him from the rest of the shotokan fighters by adding flaming properties to all of his moves, allowing him to extend combos while gaining a quicker back step when it’s time to play defensively.

Street Fighter V Ken Screen 1

From the trailer alone, we can see that his Hurricane Kick has been retooled to go in a diagonal arc, and can even be converted into a type of dive kick from the air. While some of his old moves carry over, it’s easy to see that Ken stands out much more now than he has in the past, but does this promise carry over to the main game?

Watch the trailer for yourself and see what changes you can spot? And who is that mystery character at the end of the video? Let the speculation begin in the comments!

The original Project X Zone took us by surprise, becoming one of our favorite games of 2013. While Strategy RPG’s are usually the bane of my existence, PXZ‘s unique fighting game inspired battle system and its huge cast of characters from different Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai worlds helped it leave a huge impression on me. After its sequel was announced and confirmed for a Western release a few months back, Project X Zone 2 promises a bigger cast from more of our favorite games, but after experiencing it at E3, we were relieved to find out that everything we loved about the game play of the first is still here.

Project X Zone 2 E3 Screen 2

Each party member in PXZ consists of a team of two, such as Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter, newcomers like Kazuma and Goro from Yakuza: Dead Souls, and even X and Zero from Mega Man X make their return, still serving as the closest we’ve got to a 3DS Mega  Man game. Seeing as the demo was in the early portions of the game, each team was restricted to three attacks per turn. Either a neutral attack, side attack or up attack triggered a different combo, acted out with some stylish, 2D sprite based animations. If you can link attacks against your opponents right before they touch the ground, your party delivers extra damage, rewarding you for your perfect timing. As you can probably tell, unlike most games in the genre, the battles are hardly passive.

With each attack delivered to and received by some of the biggest foes of each universe, (including Juri and Dural making their comebacks, with newcomers like Sigma on the front lines,) each unit builds their XP meter. This allows them to guard, become invulnerable for the turn, or counter attack, with the hopes of defeating the enemy during their own turn. By pulling off long string of combos and not overspending the meter, playing well will allow the meter to fill up passed 100%, which comes in handy when pulling off their ultimate attacks. As visually impressive as ever, it’s amazing watching so many iconic moves pulled off to do huge damage, especially when the old characters were given new moves to keep things fresh.

Project X Zone 2 E3 Screen 1

Overall, PXZ 2 is almost identical to the original, (which you can find out more about in our review,) but more of a good thing is never bad. Combining these updated teams and attacks with new support characters, (like Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil,) and it looks like we’ll have another addicting love letter to long time gaming fans.

Project X Zone 2 is set to launch this fall exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.

The Street Fighter franchise holds a special place in my heart, as the first arcade game I played. As the series progresses and evolves, it’s a must for me to learn the ins and outs of how it grows, which is why playing Street Fighter V on the E3 show floor was a must. After playing IV and its multiple versions for so long, I thought jumping into Capcom’s newest fighter would be easy. As I would soon learn though, everything unique to the last game is thrown out the window.

Street Fighter V E3 Screen 3

Featuring every character announced so far, including Ryu, Chun Li, Cammy, M. Bison, and Street Fighter Alpha veterans, Charlie and Birdie, the first change that I noticed was the pacing of the game. Using my familiar attacks with Chun Li were just a step off, or would miss by a fraction of a second, which can make all the difference in a match. It was soon clear that despite IV being considered a slow paced fighter, V is slightly slower, which forces different timing on attacks. Aside from this, most of the returning characters played similarly to how they have in the past, with some moves being changed, (Chun’s Lightning Kick is a quarter circle motion with a set amount of kicks as opposed to rapidly tapping,) removed, (her Hazanshuu split-legged overhead,) or added, like most of Charlie’s move set.

Street Fighter V E3 Screen 1

But while the foundation may be the same, V adds some features that make it stand out from its predecessors. Removing the Ultra Meter and Focus Attack that became vital parts of the last game, this new version replaces them with the V-Gauge. The V-Gauge builds as each character lands hits or gets damaged, with three different functions. For instance, the V-Skill gives each character a unique move, like parrying for Ryu or teleporting for Charlie, the V-Reversal, which activates a counter attack when being hit by an opponent, or the V-Trigger, which costs both segments of the two tiered meter. Similar to an Ultra, V-Triggers are meant to turn the tides of battle, with each fighter having unique boosts. For example, Ryu hits harder while Chun-Li gets an extra hit added to each attack. These attacks change the dynamic quite a bit, but I would imagine that it would be even harder to balance the game with such drastic differences between the cast. The people at Capcom have been the leaders when it comes to fighting games for so long however, that if anyone can pull it off, it’s them.

On the subject of changes however, if you’re expecting to jump in as Charlie or Birdie, both have gone through huge changes since their last appearances, with Charlie especially playing completely differently. For Birdie fans, (all five of you,) you’ll be happy to know that his massive weight gain has come with more long range options. Finally putting that chain to good use, he’ll be able to command throw with it as both an anti air and a long range option. Charlie on the other hand, has discarded all of his charge attacks with the good old quarter circle. Using variations of the Sonic Boom and Flash Kick that he taught to Guile, the new Charlie plays much more aggressively, being able to control space with his projectile, while teleporting in close and overwhelming them with his scythe kicks. Assuming Guile will be in the game, it makes sense that Charlie gets an overhaul, and while we joke about how fighting game stories don’t matter, I’m excited to see where his new attitude takes him.

Want to play Street Fighter V for yourself? Make sure to pre-order in time to experience the open beta, which will launch for PS4 on July 23rd! Until then, keep an eye out for our future impressions, and share your PSN ID’s below so we can get some games in! Just don’t beat me up too bad.

Street Fighter V will launch exclusively for PS4 and PC in early 2016.

One of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition when it was announced was the expanded list of playable characters. Joining Dante and Nero are Trish, Dante’s original partner and unlockable protagonist in the first and second games, Virgil, Dante’s brother and antagonist of Devil May Cry 3, who made his playable debut in that game’s special edition as well as returning in DmC: Devil May Cry, and Lady, the explosive bayonet wielding demon hunter who Dante befriended in the third game. Yet, despite appearing in two games, Lady has never appeared in a playable role. You would think being a demon killing human with a giant gun in a world filled with monsters would be the perfect character to play with. Apparently, the people at Capcom agreed, since she is finally making her playable debut, which is why we couldn’t help but try her out at E3 to see if the wait is worth it.

Devil May Cry 4 SE E3 Screen 1

Usable in both the main campaign and the Bloody Palace survival mode, it’s immediately clear that Lady requires players to be much more methodical in their approach to building combos. With her main weapon, she is able to fire off explosives at long range, while using the bayonet blade to cut up opponents up close. With three different firearms as sub weapons, switching to each one at key points is vital to keep the combos flowing, especially since her main attacks are relatively slow.

Lacking any kind of dash makes it harder for her to close in on faraway enemies, Lady makes up for it with her grappling hook. With a quick tap, she can latch onto enemies and pull herself towards them, pull them to her, or launch into the air by using her foes as a target. Being able to master this grappling technique in combination with her firearms, melee attacks and special moves make getting high stylish scores much different compared to the rest of the cast, but when you start seeing those S ranks pop up in battle, the effort is definitely worth it.

Devil May Cry 4 SE E3 Screen 2

While completely unique compared to the rest of the cast, Lady’s learning curve might put off some at first. With that said, her unique approach to battles separates her from the existing cast, adding more variety to an already deep action game. Want to play with Lady, Dante, Nero, and the rest of the cast? PS4, Xbox One and PC owners will get to try them for themselves when Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition releases digitally on June 23rd.

Briefly: Back in December of last year, Capcom unveiled the highly anticipated Street Fighter V… as a PC and PS4 exclusive.

Now, fans (and non-PS4 owners) everywhere have simply assumed that this was a timed exclusive, and that Xbox players would surely see the game on their console of choice soon after launch.

Apparently, this is not the case. Speaking with Gamespot, a Capcom representative confirmed that Street Fighter 5 is never leaving the Playstation console:

One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox, but the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run.

We’re not talking about how we’re handling post-launch content, but I can say the relationship with Sony does open doors for things we haven’t been able to do in the past.

The relationship serves a gameplay and development purpose, and not just a marketing value.

Fighting fans, does this news make you more likely to pick up a PS4? Or skip out on SFV entirely? Me? I’m still bummed out that Rise of the Tomb Raider is only headed to Xbox One.

Briefly: When Resident Evil HD Remaster became Capcom’s fastest selling digital title in history, and also broke the record for the biggest selling day one digital title on the PlayStation Network, we were pretty certain it wouldn’t be the last Resident Evil remaster we’d see.

We were (thankfully) right. A few weeks back, Capcom officially unveiled a remastered edition of Resident Evil 0, which is slated to hit PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC in early 2016.

Being a survival horror fan who missed out Resident Evil up to this point (and also a gamer who thoroughly enjoyed the remaster of Resident Evil), I’m pretty excited to see where the series chronologically began.

The first trailer for the title has just been released, and it looks fantastic. You can take a look below, and let us know what you think!

Talk about surprise announcements!

If you thought it was safe to put down your Great Sword, you might want to think again. During the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Monster Hunter X is not only a thing that exists, but it’s headed to the 3DS in Winter 2015 for Japanese owners!

Hot off the heels of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate‘s international success, X, (or Cross,) looks to carry that same momentum into a brand new title. Now taking place in a more lush, rainforest-esque hub world, hunters will travel across a variety of locales while attempting to defeat monsters new and old. Using fan favorite weapons such as the Insect Glaive, Charge Axe, Heavy Bow and Gunlance to name a few, each weapon comes with a new twist. New, over the top super attacks give us all new tools to tame the strongest beasts we come across, devistating our potential prey. Still, the question must be asked; if the hunters are so much stronger, what about the monsters? Either way, you haven’t lived until you’ve vaulted off of a monster’s back.

X may be around the corner for our friends in the East, but it might be awhile before we get our hands on the newest entry in the now lucrative franchise. Still, now that it’s a proven seller around the world, will we get the 4 treatment and be passed over until the inevitable “Ultimate” edition is released? Or will we have the chance to be “upgraded” too? From what we’ve seen, I don’t want to wait longer than we have to. I mean, come on! You can pet alpacas!

Check out the trailer below and find yourself in shock and awe like we were, and check back with Geekscape in the coming weeks as we learn more details during E3 week and beyond!

Details on the game are pretty scarce at this point, but it is known that original Resident Evil 0 Director Koji Oda and additional staff are returning for the development of this new remastered version. Capcom will be sharing more information on the title in the coming weeks.

You can watch the announcement video below (make sure you turn on subtitles), and be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to playing this one!

For you, the day that M. Bison was revealed for the upcoming PS4 exclusive, Street Fighter V, was the most significant moment of your life. But for him?

It was Tuesday.

Erm, anyway, if anyone was worried that Street Fighter‘s longest running antagonist wasn’t going to return in the next game in the series, then worry no longer. Now sporting grey hair and a surely evil trenchcoat, Bison is back in all of his Psycho Crushing, head stomping glory, but with some new surprises thrown into the mix. Now with an ability to catch and throw back projectiles, pop opponents in the air to continue combos, stomp grounded opponents, and other attacks brought in from previous incarnations, and it looks like we might have a whole new dictator on our hands.

Bison folllows the reveals of Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile’s formerly dead best friend, Charlie, bringing the roster up to four. Check out Bison’s reveal below and tell us what you think about his changes, as well as what other characters you hope get added!

Street Fighter V is a PS4 exclusive, coming to Sony’s console in 2016.

Good news for all those long lost fans of Megaman, the Legends spinoff series, or believers that games shouldn’t cost more than rent. Based on a recent ESRB rating, The Misadventures Of Tron Bonne seems to be on its way to PSN!

Serving as a prequel to Megaman Legends 1 and 2, this PS One gem puts players in the shoes of Tron, the brains behind the infamous Bonne family of Sky Pirates, as they loot and pillage towns in their quest for riches. The game was a delight to play, but received a small release, leading copies to soar into the triple digits while making it a cult classic in the process. If this rating actually does lead to a widespread digital release, gamers in the West will finally have the chance to experience it without having to sell their children to do so on their PS3, PSP, and Vita, (for the few who still have it.)

But more importantly, they’ll be able to find out where Tron’s moveset comes from in the Marvel Vs. Capcom sequels! They’ll fall in love with the Servbots, who keep popping up as Dead Rising helmets. Who knows, this might also lead to re-releases of the two Legends games if successful enough, which could snowball into a Legends 3 revival! Unlikely? Sure, but a guy can dream. It’s just great to see such a great group of characters endure over the years, and finally be potentially given a second shot at the spotlight.

It looks like Capcom just wants more of my money. The next in the Monster Hunter series looks fucking adorable, and appears to take the franchise in a new direction.

At a recent Monster Hunter event, the games producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, explained what the heck this is all about.

After having passed the 10th anniversary last year, this is a new challenge for the Monster Hunter series, that we’ve began designing since about five years ago, while staying true to the world of Monster Hunter, and a story that can only be told through an RPG, we’d like to pack it with fun and enjoyment that we can’t even begin to describe with words.

Tsujimoto explained that players will take up the role of “Riders” and not hunters, he did not explain further what the gameplay would be like.

Monster Hunter: Stories is slated to be released in Japan sometime in 2016, and there is no current plans for a North America release.

Briefly: We were beyond excited for Capcom’s Resident Evil HD Remaster to finally hit digital store shelves, and apparently everyone else was too, as the game has become Capcom’s fastest selling digital title in history, and the January 20th release has also broken the record for the biggest selling day one digital title on the PlayStation Network.

That’s pretty freaking ridiculous for what basically amounts to a 20 year old game.

Capcom’s Producer on the title, Yoshiaki Hirabyashi, commented “It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have enjoyed this new release. The team here at Capcom Japan have worked hard to bring the game to the latest generation of consoles and we are thrilled at this news on its performance.”

I’ve had the game sitting on my PS4’s hard drive for weeks now, and I can’t wait to jump in as soon as I have a chance. Have you played the remaster yet? Does the game still hold up after all these years? Sound out below!

Since Resident Evil Revelations 2 was first announced, it was putting the wheels in motion to set up a number of returning elements and combining them with a few firsts. As the first original game in the series to debut digitally, the debut of an episodic format, and the first game staring new characters such as Barry Burton’s daughter, Moira, we’ll also see the return of the more isolated atmosphere of the originals and the first Revelations title, alongside Claire Redfield and Barry himself making their welcomed comebacks. At Capcom’s latest Fright Night event, we got the chance to experience a bit of what to expect from the latest title in the long running franchise, and from what we’ve seen so far, it’s shaping up to be a scary good time!

Throwing Claire and Moria headfirst into an abandoned prison, the two must work together to escape the horrors that await them. Ironically, the daughter of a card carrying NRA member refuses to use guns, (potential plot point, anyone?), so Moira is stuck with flashlight duty. Highlighting flashing spots on the map help the young Burton girl uncover items, keys, and melee weapons such as crowbars, that serves as both a way to open boarded doors and a tool to keep enemies at bay. Thankfully, Claire isn’t as much of a pacifist, serving as the combat expert between the two. With a variety of guns at her disposal, melee attacks that knock enemies back while stunned, (a la RE4,) she’s more than capable of keeping the pair safe.

Which is lucky for them, since the enemies in this game don’t idle around like your typical zombie. The monsters in the demo behave much more like the faster, more viscous zombies of RE6 compared to the slower paced creatures from the first Revelations. With just enough of them lurking around corners without feeling completely overwhelmed, the game constantly had me on my toes, anxious to open that side door with an herb teasing me through the bars, knowing full well that an enemy was waiting for the chance to rip me to shreds. The dark, brooding atmosphere of the prison only amplified the tense feeling that fueled quite a few jump scares, which is in itself commendable when you consider that I’m playing in a room surrounded by loud, drunk people and a DJ playing music that’s louder than the provided gaming headphones.

What left the biggest impression on me however, was the game’s dynamic between the two protagonists. Unlike previous forced attempts at co-op, Revelations 2 felt like both characters were necessary pieces to the overall experience, especially when compared to the herb sucking, bullet draining idiots that we’re used to tagging along with us. Even if you don’t trust the AI enough to back you up, you’ll be able to seamlessly switch control between the two characters, which is helped by the much improved twin stick control scheme. All signs are pointing to single player not being such a chore this time! But then again, I would imagine co-op would still be the best way to go once the final version releases next month.

Despite all the praise, I’m still a bit cautious. After all, Revelations in a way, was created to bring the series back to its survival horror roots compared to the more action focused direction the main series has shifted to. While the demo might have been taking it easy, the abundance of items and ammo hurt the feeling of helplessness. Combined with the fast paced enemies and the updated controls, it’s looking like this spinoff is already moving towards a more adrenaline fueled explosion fest. Then again, this was 10 minutes of an unfinished product, and even then, I still felt more terror than the entirety of either 5 or 6, so let’s hope the final game strikes a strong balance.

Are you planning on sticking with the series when it hits digital formats next month? Or will you wait for the complete package to get its physical release? And how good is it to finally have Claire back? Sound off and let us know!

After so many years and completely missing out on the core version of the latest Monster Hunter title, the recently announced release date of February 13th can’t come soon enough. To help hold us over, Capcom released a demo that gives us a taste of how we can expect to spend the next couple years of our lives, complete with the full weapon set and three new monsters to hunt. We took the time to check out what new features this brief download has to offer, which surprised us enough to keep even veteran hunters on their toes.

In an attempt to cater to both new and old hunters alike, this preview offers both beginner and expert levels of difficulties, in addition to in-game tutorials to explain the pros and cons of the weapon you choose. Every weapon is accounted for, including the new Insect Staff and Charge Blade, giving pros a chance to get accustomed to these new tools before the serious adventures begin. Yet, with the Great Jaggi, Tetsucabra, and Gore Magala on the prowl, they serve as all the practice you need if you hope to survive the dangers of the wild.

Starting with the Charge Blade, this weapon will feel familiar to anyone who used the Switch Axe in the past. Taking two forms, its standard stance is the sword and shield, building up energy with each successful attack. When the blade is fully charged, attaching the shield to the sword turns it into a powerful axe, releasing all of the built up power into a series of crushing blows. If you’re feeling a little more crafty, the Insect Staff feels like a more offense focused version of the Hunting Horn. While the double sided blade does a fair share of damage on its own, its true strength lies with its ability to send a pet insect flying at enemy monsters, absorbing status boosting effects on contact. With the ability to drain attack strength, defensive boosts, replenish stamina and restore health, this weapon has a level of versatility that most others lack, making it one to watch as the hunts get tougher.

That’s not to suggest that the demo hunts aren’t tough, especially when it comes to fighting Gore Magala. This destructive beast shoots and guards itself with a stamina draining black mist that forces players to strike carefully. But in my playthroughs, no matter how many times I broke its wings, its head or cut off its tail, this resilient opponent just wouldn’t die within the time limit, while making sure to knock out a couple of my lives in the process. It wasn’t until I took advantage of the climbing, jumping and air attack features that I was finally able to claim victory. By stalking prey from above, MH4 introduces the ability to land powerful strikes from the skies. Once weak enough, the best course of action is often to either climb, or jump on the monster’s back, and hack away as if your life depended on it. Adding a new level of depth and unpredictability to the tried and true formula, pulling these moves off managed to surprise even an old vet like me. But if that still doesn’t work, you can always hop online or get some friends together to take it on as a team!

Finally being able to get a taste of the fourth game has left me wanting so much more. The more dynamic fights, new weapons and tough as nails monsters keep us coming back for more, with enough familiarity to make our playtime feel right at home. Keep your eyes peeled for our full review as we get some time with the final release, and let us know what features you’re most looking forward to!

If you haven’t downloaded Marvel Vs Capcom Origins, the two pack that includes the original Marvel Vs Capcom in addition to the mid 90’s classic, Marvel Super Heroes, now is the time.

Capcom-Unity announced at the end of today, the game would be pulled from the Playstation Network for purchase, with Xbox Live Arcade getting hit on December 31st. Following suit with other Marvel titles under Activision’s control, and even Capcom’s own Marvel Vs Capcom 3, which went out of production last year, it seems like games are getting hit pretty hard thanks to Marvel and Disney working towards reclaiming all of the super hero licenses.

Have you already picked up these classic fighters? If not, you better jump on it before it’s gone forever. Marvel Vs Capcom Origins is available now, (but not for long,) at $14.99.
