Back in February of last year it was announced that Screen Gems, the company behind the Resident Evil moves, had acquired the rights to produce a live action adaptation of the Devil May Cry video game franchise. Kyle Ward (Machete Kills) has been attached to write the script but other than that there had been no news as far as casting, directors or a release date for the film. At E3, it was announced that the film will be based on the new game, DmC: Devil May Cry. The film base on the reboot is being positioned as an origin story for protagonist, Dante.

Well, now it appears that we may be getting a trailer for the film…next month?! The website Alberta Film Ratings has classified a trailer for the film adaptation and it appears that it will be attached with next months Resident Evil: Retribution. The site has classified the trailer at one minute and thirty-one seconds in length. This could definitely just be a teaser or announcement trailer but there really are no details on it yet other than the length. But, a minute and a half definitely seems length for a teaser don’t you think? Looks like some of you may actually have to go see Resident Evil: Retribution after all.

The great lads over at Gamespot were able to get a hands on demo of PSAS:BR when head designer Seth Killian hit their office. In this video we will get a nice little peak at Raiden’s moves. Take a look with me!

This also gives some more validity of the pics and character info that leaked not to long ago, we already know that Cole McGrath from inFamous (both good and evil version) will be in the game so the list of rumored characters has some weight. That list was compiled by Joystiq, and you can find that below.

  • Dante from DmC: Devil May Cry
  • Cole McGrath from the inFamous series
  • Ratchet from the Ratchet & Clank series
  • Raiden from the Metal Gear Solid series
  • Sackboy from the LittleBigPlanet games
  • Sir Daniel Fortesque from MediEvil
  • Heihachi Mishima from the Tekken series
  • Toro, PlayStation marketing icon in Japan
  • Nariko from Heavenly Sword
  • Jak from the Jak & Daxter series
  • Spike from the Ape Escape games

PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale will ship on November 20th and is available on Commodore 64 and all Amiga systems. You know I’m kidding, right?

During the early, dark days of being a PS3 owner, Heavenly Sword was a beacon of light. Being the first game, (and sadly, one of the last,) to make the most out of the graphics technology of the current generation to enhance rather than distract from the experience, the story of Nariko and her war against an evil conqueror and his army is still one of my favorites in the last decade. Sadly, whether it was because of poor sales, developer Ninja Theory’s decision to venture off into 3rd party development or unfair comparisons to God of War, (because you know, any action game with swords in the last five years just HAS to be a rip off…), the game became a cult hit, but it wasn’t enough for either the developer or publisher to support a sequel.

But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t in the works. IGN recently released some previously unpublished concept art pieces from the second of the planned trilogy. Seemingly taking place in a completely different setting, Nariko is apparently back to continue her fight against the Raven King. Which makes me so sad that this vision will likely never materialize.

But is there still hope? Does the release of these screenshots mean Heavenly Sword 2 might surface one day? While Ninja Theory is currently working on the DmC reboot, can Sony decide to give the title to another up and coming developer? Considering Nariko and her sidekick, Kai, are appearing in Playstation All Stars, it’s not too outside of the realm of possibility, right?

If you missed out on the first game, check out the video below. That acting, those facial expressions, that ANDY F’N SERKIS! It’s just so perfect. Here’s to hoping Nariko’s first adventure wasn’t her last.

You may as well not even go to GamesCom anymore. Just sit right here at good ole’ Geekscape and enjoy all the news. Now we bring you the newest DmC trailer. We get some more of the narrative given to us as opposed to the last trailer we got.

Now, after seeing this I am back on the fence. He doesn’t even SOUND like Dante anymore. DAFUQ YOU DOING CAPCOM?!?!?

The hyper stylized hack and slash Juggernaut, Devil May Cry is getting a reboot, and we just got eyes on the possible new title (DmC, just DmC) and a great look at the environments with this new trailer. TAKE A GANDER!

Not only do we have this trailer, but we have some new screens too!

This lovely gamer can be labeled as only one thing right now. “Excited”. I was a little apprehensive, as was most of the gaming world, that the new look for Dante was a move in the wrong direction. Even after Ninja Theory said it was based on Nolan’s Dark Knight films, we weren’t impressed. After seeing this trailer I’m sold. The gritty J-Rock sound and crazy hyper weird world colored with words that one would find in a Hot Topic employees diary make for a very fun looking game.
