The Geekscape ‘Punisher Season 2’ Special With Ian Kerner!

The Geekscape ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse’ Special With Ian Kerner!

On the heels of the blockbuster success of ‘Venom’, Sony is back with another entry in the Spider-Man universe… this time going in a completely different direction (or a few)! With the fully animated ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’, movie audiences are introduced to Miles Morales, the younger Spider-Man originally introduced in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics… but very quickly he meets up with Spider-characters from various universes as the Kingpin pursues a plan to access them all or destroy them all! Is the hype about this film real? Is this the greatest Spider-Man film of all time? What works? What doesn’t? What characters and creators were done justice and just how insane an idea for a movie is this? And did Sony pull it off!?! I had wanted to do a Geekscape State of the Union podcast with you all for a while now if only to get all of my thoughts to you and let you know how I’m feeling and to gauge the pulse of what it is that we do around here. But now, 10 years after we met Stan and he renamed us Dickscape, I found it a fitting time to bring you into my thoughts, express my gratitude for all of you and give you some stories and thoughts on Stan Lee himself and how important he was to all of us. LA Comic Con 2018! Meet The Monster Squad!

The Geekscape ‘Venom’ Special With Ian Kerner!

Finally! Hollywood had its way and successfully released the stand-alone ‘Venom’ movie that they’ve been trying to make for years! But… is it really a success? What can be argued against an $80 Million opening weekend? Well… a lot. This movie isn’t exactly a critical darling. From the script to the fx to the acting to the entire point of making a stand-alone Venom movie in the first place, there’s a lot that doesn’t work. So why did we still have fun watching it? Did it have anything to do with the movie? Well, it’s time to answer your questions. Does any of it work? How is there a Venom separate from the Spider-Man story? Are the action scenes exciting? Geekscape 496: Hanging In The Van With Chris From Punchline!

It’s been a long time since Chris Fafalios of Punchline has been on the podcast (unless you count his involvement in the Geekscape theme song which is on EVERY episode)! And a lot has changed in the 10 years since. Punchline continues to put out albums, they’re finally touring the West Coast again and Chris has discovered his love of Pokémon, thanks to Pokémon Go! Geekscape 495: Exploring Science (And Comics) With Jason Inman!

Jason Inman (and his wife Ashley Victoria Robinson) have been personal friends of both myself and Geekscape for a long time! And they’re also burgeoning comic book creators with last year’s successful ‘Jupiter Jet’ hitting stands! They’re back now with their really cool second comic ‘Science!’, about a school for young genius that may be home to more than just a good education! Jason and Ashley join me to talk about the graphic novel, the Kickstarter campaign going on RIGHT NOW for the book and much, much more! And once Ashley bows out of the episode, Jason and I keep the party going by talking about Grant Morrison’s upcoming ‘Green Lantern’ run, if the Marvel Universe needs a complete reboot and we even create our own Avengers team in the process… which pretty much just consists of D-Man! Geekscape 494: Hanging On The Rooftop With MC Chris!

As I tell you in the intro, my knowledge of MC Chris was fairly minimal when he was proposed to me as a guest… but I knew he was really cool and a lot of my friends were fans and that was good enough for me! Well, after having him on the podcast I gotta tell you that I’m now a fan and he IS very cool! But the pop culture rapper, animator, comedian and actor is so much more than that! As we soon discover in our conversation, it’s not all Star Wars and comic books in MC Chris’ world (although there is a lot of that)! We get into some real talk, from his time dealing with social anxiety at NYU and playing PC games as a kid to some of the professional and personal pitfalls that followed him in his animation career.
