The world is a weird place right now.

My office has transitioned to working from home, and I don’t know when I’ll see my coworkers again.

My partner is a registered nurse, and I’m both so grateful for the work that she’s doing… and kind of scared to be near her.

I just keep thinking back to just a few weeks ago — checking out the Sonic The Hedgehog movie, walking around a giant mall, eating BBQ with a group of friends.

I keep thinking back to just a few weeks ago when everything felt mostly normal… and then a film like this comes along to remind me just how hard some people have to fight to feel any semblance of normal at all.

Geekscape pal, I Am Santa Claus, and The Bill Murray Stories director Tommy Avallone is back with Waldo on Weed, a documentary that Variety noted will “resonate with audiences no matter their views on marijuana” after its Tribeca premiere last year.

Here’s the synopsis for Waldo On Weed:

When their son Waldo was just 6 months old, his parents Brian and Danielle noticed that he’d been having trouble with his vision. Like any good parents, they wanted to protect their son, so they went to a number of doctors, only to receive the devastating diagnosis that Waldo had cancer. They followed the doctors’ orders and began chemotherapy on their infant. The side effects of the chemo caused Waldo to become so sick that they began a desperate search for alternative therapies, and one, worked like a charm. Combining a mix of traditional interviews with found-footage, the film features conversations with the family, the friends that helped them along the way, and many experts in the field, including doctors, lawmakers, and more. The results are captured in a story that includes footage of the family as they move their lives from Philadelphia to build a new home out west. Brian’s “Dad Cam” puts you in the room for all the highs and lows of a family going through tragedy, and triumph.

It’s hard to watch the trailer without tearing up, feeling sad, and feeling hopeful all at the same time:

Waldo on Weed is available on iTunes and Amazon as of today, and as movie theatres and seemingly life itself continues to shut down around me, this is absolutely one of the first films on my ‘must watch’ list.

Our beloved friend, documentary filmmaker Tommy Avallone is back on the show to talk about his latest film ‘The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned From A Mythical Man’! This one documents the numerous Bill Murray sightings across the country, from Bill showing up at a frat party to do dishes to taking part in a couple’s engagement photo shoot, and tries ot make sense of it all! We’ve seen the movie and we love it… so how did it come together? What is it about Bill Murray that we find so captivating? How hard was it to put this movie together? What were some of the most ridiculous ‘urban legends’ surrounding Bill Murray and Bill Murray sightings? What’s Tommy working on next? There’s tons to digest here, especially for indie filmmakers, so enjoy!

Over the last few years there’s been an overabundance of Bill Murray Stories taking over the internet. They range from flagging down motorcyclists for car assistance to wedding crashing and all things in-between. Tommy Avallone (friend of Geekscape and director of I Am Santa Claus) has announced his next project titled The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned From A Mythical Man.

I was lucky enough to see some footage when Tommy was on an upcoming episode of my podcast Playing with Squirrels: A Boy Meets World Fancast (debuting Monday, subscribe on iTunes). What I saw looked great but the movie is far from complete. Tommy and Double Windsor Films need your help!

Currently they are holding open submissions for your Bill Murray Story. Has Bill Murray stole your french fries? Well they want to hear about it. The open submissions are being accepted up until October 7th, so if you’ve been hanging on to a great Bill Murray Story and think it’s time the world heard it contact Tommy and the rest of the Double Windsor team at mystory@doublewindsorfilms.com

For more information on the project check out the official website at http://www.thebillmurraystories.com

Tommy Avallone is one of my most frequent guests, he appeared back in Episode 1 but he hasn’t been on for over a year. Tommy’s film I Am Santa Claus is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray and will be on Netflix November 25th. It was great going into Philly and talking to Tommy about the movie, Santa Claus and wrestling.

The song during the intro is We’re All Theme Parks by Team Goldie.

50 episodes! Who would have guessed this would happen. I’m extremely excited to still be doing this show after all this time. To celebrate I brought back my friend (and first guest) Tommy Avallone who wrote/directed Community College, Produced Miss December and Mancation and is currently wrapping up his newest project I Am Santa Clause. He’s a great guest and friend I can’t wait to see the final product (and also to purchase his movies and stop being a shitty friend)

The intro music contains the song One After the Other from Pterofractyl’s album The Missing Animal.

Geekscape friend (and former Saint Mort Show guest) Tommy Avallone has sent us the trailer for his production company Double Windsor’s newest film Mancation. The company has previously released Community College and Calendar Girl but this looks like their best film yet.

It follows a young man who discovers his wife is a lesbian. His best friends (including Joe Fatone of N*Sync) take it upon themselves to take him to Atlantic city to get laid. While there he meets the beautiful Danica McKellar (Winnie Cooper from Wonder Years). It also stars Mike Starr (Ed Wood, Dumb and Dumber) as a parent to either our main character or his estranged lesbian wife.

Episode 1 of the Saint Mort Show has Matt interviewing George Hardy of Troll 2, Tommy Avallone (director of Community College) and a live performance of Team Goldie
