Earlier this year, Lego and Marvel announced Lego Marvel Super Heroes. The Lego series of video games really needs no introduction; titles like Lego Batman, Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego Harry Potter have been pleasing kids, adults, and fans for years.

This Fall, the hat tips towards Marvel fans. Marvel Lego Super Heroes will release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U, Vita, 3DS, and PC later this year. GameTrailers today released the first gameplay video for the title, which unsurprisingly looks fantastic.

Superior Spider-Week is in full swing.

Earlier today, Marvel announced another new spider-series that will launch (along with Superior Carnage and Superior Foes of Spider-Manthis July. This one’s called Superior Spider-Man Team-Ups. Written by Chris Yost, and drawn by David Lopez, Foes is set to replace the current regular title, Avenging Spider-Man (which makes sense… seeing as he won’t be a part of the Avengers much longer).

According to the press release, ‘team-up’ may not accurately describe what we’re set to see. The very first line of the series description states that “There’s only one thing that’s on the mind of the Superior Spider-Man when he encounters the heroes of the Marvel Universe–it’s how can he beat them?! First on his list? The Avengers!”

Sounds good to me. Check out the first issue’s cover (featuring art by Paolo Rivera) below, and let us know what you think of the announcement!

There’s only one thing that’s on the mind of the Superior Spider-Man when he encounters the heroes of the Marvel Universe–it’s how can he beat them?! First on his list? The Avengers!

This July, Superior Spider-Month turns it up a notch as Yost and Lopez let loose in SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN TEAM-UP #1!“SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN TEAM-UP #1 takes fans across the entire Marvel Universe and pits Superior Spider-Man against heroes and foes you wouldn’t necessarily think he’d rub shoulders with,” explains Stephen Wacker, Senior Editor, Marvel Entertainment. “More and more people in the Marvel Universe are starting to sense a change in Spider-Man, and being able to see Chris put Spidey in those situations is going to have my inbox full of team-up requests! So stay strong Songbird fans!”

Last week, DC and Warner Bros. Interactive announced a new free-to-play arena title called Infinite Crisis. The game is being developed by Turbine, the same folks that crafted the acclaimed MMO The Lord of the Rings Online. A short trailer for the game accompanied the announcement, but aside from that, most of what the title offers remains a mystery.

Today, two new character profile videos were released for the game featuring Wonder Woman and Nightmare Batman. Each profile gives a good look at the character and what they’re capable of, and also features plenty of new in-game footage.

Watch the videos below, and let us know what you think! If you like what you see, you can apply for the closed beta at the game’s official website.

Infinite Crisis is a new entrant into the wildly popular MOBA genre that delivers a heart-pounding competitive player vs. player battle experience set in the legendary DC Multiverse – a world in which familiar DC Comics characters have been reimagined in startling ways. Featuring a wide variety of DC Comics heroes and villains, Infinite Crisis puts players in control of twisted incarnations of their favorite characters throughout the Multiverse such as Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman, playing in league with well-known characters including Green Lantern and The Flash.

The season 8 premiere of Dexter is right around the corner (well, in two months anyways), and Showtime has just released the first teaser for it. The preview features no actual footage or audio from the upcoming episodes, but instead has a monologue from the titular character, warning viewers of what’s to come.

The 8th (and likely final) season of Dexter premieres on June 30th. Watch the first teaser below, and let us know what you think!

If you watched last week’s (utterly disappointing) finale of The Walking Dead, this won’t be unexpected news, but it’s now official!

After the Governor’s shocking, unexpected (and alive) exit from the episode, it was pretty much guaranteed that David Morrissey would be returning for the show’s fourth season. AMC has confirmed that he’ll be back as a regular (which I’m torn on; though season three was mostly excellent, Woodbury and the Governor’s politics certainly began to drag on… maybe things will change now that he’s on his own), and so will Chad Coleman as Tyreese, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha, and Emily Kinney as Beth.

I’m really glad to see Tyreese in there, I just hope that they begin to use some of his amazing arcs from the comics! My only question is, what about Carol? The Scott Gimple led fourth season of The Walking Dead will premiere in October!

She's great! Why can't she be regular?

Earlier today, a fantastic looking new poster for Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion was unveiled. If you’re looking forward to the film as much as I am, you’re soaking up every image, clip, and piece of media that you possibly can.

Some B-Roll for the movie has just been released, featuring over 10-minutes of cool behind-the-scenes footage. Take a look at the roll below, and let us know what you think! Oblivion hits theatres on April 19th!

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.  Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

It may not be as exciting as today’s Carrie trailer, but Warner Bros. has just released a new preview for The Great Gatsby. Coming from stylish director Baz Luhrmann (Australia, Romeo + Juliet), the adaptation of the classic 1925 F. Scott Fitzgerald novel stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, and plenty of other good looking famous people.

The film hits theatres (in 3D) on May 10th, and visually looks absolutely beautiful. I really can’t wait to check it out, how about you? Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” follows would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan), and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Nicolas Winding Refn is the fucking man.

I absolutely loved 2011’s Drive. The movie was simply so stylish, so atmospheric, so well thought out that I found myself absolutely on the edge of my seat through its entirety, and absolutely wishing for more once it was done. And don’t forget about that soundtrack; today, even two years later, I start my journey to work every single morning with College/Electric Youth’s ‘A Real Hero’, and it never, ever gets old.

Refn and Ryan Gosling are teaming up again, this time for a film called Only God Forgives. Today, a red band trailer for the movie was released, and if you liked the phenomenal sounds and imagery in Drive, you’re in for a treat with this one.

Watch the trailer for Only God Forgives below, and let us know what you think. The movie hits theatres on July 19th.

Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristen Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.

Well, this is unexpected.

We’re just a few weeks away from the release of NetherRealm Studios latest console brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Yesterday, a playable demo for the game was released, showcasing just a few of the action-packed battles you’ll be able to partake in once the full featured edition hits shelves. Today, the studio released a mobile version.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hit the iOS app store earlier this evening for the wonderful price of $0.00. I had the opportunity to play a few matches, and just like NetherRealm’s last iOS title (Batman: Arkham City Lockdown), Injustice looks great, plays smoothly, and maintains simple, understandable, nigh-perfect controls. The mechanics of the game are also a little different from its console sibling, the mobile edition mixing the classic fighter with a neat card-battling system.

mzl.dbbhqsix.320x480-75

Sure, it’s not the console version, and that’s one of the best things about it. With a few exceptions, direct console ports simply don’t work well on touchscreen devices. NetherRealm knows that, and both of their iOS titles have been excellent, both as standalone and companion games.

Did I mention that it’s free, AND that you can unlock items for the console version? Download Injustice: Gods Among Us on the App Store, and let us know what you think! Not quite sold? Check out an overview of the title, courtesy of IGN!

It may only be a few seconds, but fans itching for their first taste of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire just got it. The first footage from the film has been released by MTV in a commercial for their upcoming movie awards ceremony.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live on April 14th at 9PM, and will feature the full first trailer for the film.

Watch the commercial below, and let us know what you think! Are you looking forward to Catching Fire?

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theatres on November 22!

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Warner Bros. Interactive and Netherrealm Studios today released a new trailer for their upcoming DC brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. This preview features a bunch of new footage and showcases some of the various features the game will have at release.

Yesterday, a playable demo for the game launched on Xbox Live and Playstation Network. If you’ve had a chance to try it, be sure to let us know your first impressions! In any case, watch the new trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Injustice on April 16th!

In bigger gaming news, have you read about the closure of LucasArts?

Are you ready to take back Sci-Fi?

That’s exactly what Cowboy Errant and the rest of the team behind Nobility want to do. The brainchild of Cowboy Errant founder and Science Fiction enthusiast E.J. De la Pena, Nobility is an upcoming Sci-Fi dramedy web-series that’s being dubbed as The Office in space. How has this not been made yet?

The Sci-Fi genre is filled with ripe examples of fan involvement keeping projects (and dreams) alive. From Star Trek conventions molding the franchise into what it is today, to ILM inventing entirely new pieces of technology to make George Lucas’s Star Wars a reality. Nobility aims to be the first Science Fiction project that puts fans front and center. Nobility is for you, and can only happen with you, so why wouldn’t the creative team want you to be involved?

b5fac717d7d490617eacf0c599db311e_large

Just how involved can you be? Straight from the Kickstarter campaign, Nobility promises to  “be in constant communication via social media, have regular podcasts detailing every aspect of production, and we’re even going to open some roles up for fans – for you to truly be a part of the series.”

There are definitely some cool folks attached to Nobility too. First (as mentioned above), series creator and Cowboy Errand founder E.J. De la Pena. He’s been an actor for years, starring in projects like 1996’s Jingle All The Way, to the currently in post-production Starship: Rising. From the Kickstarter video (embedded below) it’s easy to see just how heartfelt E.J. is about the project and how much of a Sci-Fi enthusiast he truly is. The project’s director, Neil Johnson, is no stranger to micro-budget Sci-Fi, and has helmed movies like Humanity’s End and Alien Armageddon. Babylon 5 alumni Claudia Christian has also joined the Nobility in a starring role.

The project’s test footage looks great, and Nobility has some great folks attached to it, so why not give it a chance? Cowboy Errant is looking for $45’000 to fund the project, and at the time of writing (just over a day into the campaign), it’s sitting at $1126. If you’re a Sci-Fi fan, you can clearly see that E.J. and his team are too, so let’s do all we can to make their dream come true. Being a Kickstarter project, there are of course plenty of incentives up for grabs, including DVD’s, Behind-the-Scenes packages, posters, scripts, and even a few spots on the show.

Check out the project video for Nobility below, and if you like what you see, back the project and share!

We’re just a few weeks away from the Teen Titans triumphant return to Cartoon Network, with the premiere of Teen Titans Go. Sure, it looks a lot different from the animated Teen Titans that we once knew and loved, but who’s to say we can’t give it a shot? After all, we love these characters, don’t we?

Take a look at the poster below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the series! Teen Titans Go premieres April 23rd!

If the past is any indication, James Wan knows damn well how to make a good horror flick. The first Saw (which unfortunately spawned half a dozen lacklustre sequels) was a brilliantly horrifying , vastly original picture, that scared the pants off of a 14-year old me. 2010’s Insidious brought us back to classic horror, with its truly scary, haunting imagery and its intriguing plot (at least for the first two acts).

Next up from Wan is The Conjuring. The theatrical trailer has just been released, and while it looks rather conventional at this point, it also looks creepy and very affective. I’m also a sucker for Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.

Watch the trailer below, and let us know what you think! The Conjuring hits theatres July 19th.

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville.  Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse.  Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Rockstar has just officially unveiled the official box art for their highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V. The art is pretty much what you’d expect from a Grand Theft Auto game, and the style doesn’t stray from previous covers… well, at all.

Check out the new art below, and let us know what you think! Grand Theft Auto V hits stores on September 17th. Will you be picking it up?

In July of 2012, Pixar announced that John Carter director (and Finding Nemo co-director) Andrew Stanton would helm the next instalment in the Finding Nemo franchise. Since then, we’ve heard plenty of casting news (well, at least Albert Brooks and Ellen Degeneres), but nothing about the either the film’s plot, or when we’d be able to see it.

Today, Disney announced the film’s title, release date, and a little bit of plot detail. Finding Dory will swim into theatres on November 25, 2015. From the press release, the plot takes place “about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.”

Well, I’m in. I love Finding Nemo and the world that Pixar created for it. I can’t wait to jump into this one.

Read the full press release below, and let us know what you think!

FD

When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory”—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

“Finding Nemo” won the 2003 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature; the film was nominated for three additional Oscars® (Best Writing, Original Screenplay; Best Music, Original Score; Best Sound Editing). It was also nominated for a Golden Globe® Award for Best Motion Picture–Comedy or Musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute named “Finding Nemo” among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release, “Finding Nemo” was the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time. It’s currently the fourth highest grossing animated film worldwide. The film has more than 16 million Likes on Facebook, and Dory—with more than 24 million—is the most Liked individual character from a Disney or Disney•Pixar film.

DeGeneres’ distinctive comic voice has resonated with audiences from her first stand-up comedy appearances through her work today on television, in film and in the literary world. Her syndicated talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” is in its 10th season and has earned 38 Daytime Emmy® Awards. DeGeneres has won 12 People’s Choice Awards and the Teen Choice Award for Choice Comedian for three consecutive years. Additionally, her show won two Genesis Awards and a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode. For her unforgettable turn as Dory, DeGeneres was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance.

On December 21st of last year (remember, the day that the world was set to end?), a hilarious teaser trailer for This is the End released online to much fanfare. The teaser had Seth Rogen and James Franco in a bomb shelter, apparently after the apocalypse on December 21st.

Today, a red band theatrical trailer for the movie has been released. This preview gives us a much better idea of what (and who) to expect from the feature, which looks like an absolute blast.

This is the End opens June 12th, and stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, and Danny McBride. It also seems to have cameos from everybody.

Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside.  Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

CBS today revealed our first peek at Under the Dome, the drama based on the popular Stephen King novel. I haven’t read the book myself, but after taking a look at the synopsis and the following video, it sounds and looks quite intriguing.

Here’s a synopsis (for the novel, who knows how close we’ll get):

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester’s Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener’s hand is severed as “the dome” comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when—or if—it will go away.

Dale Barbara, Iraq vet and now a short-order cook, finds himself teamed with a few intrepid citizens—town newspaper owner Julia Shumway, a physician’s assistant at the hospital, a selectwoman, and three brave kids. Against them stands Big Jim Rennie, a politician who will stop at nothing—even murder—to hold the reins of power, and his son, who is keeping a horrible secret in a dark pantry. But their main adversary is the Dome itself. Because time isn’t just short. It’s running out.

It kind of sounds oddly similar to The Simpsons Movie, but in any case, it looks pretty cool! Watch the first look trailer below, and let us know what you think! Under the Dome‘s 13-part miniseries premieres on June 24th, so you’ve got plenty of time to read the source material.

Late last night, Naughy Dog released an affective new red band trailer for their upcoming title, The Last of Us. This new preview definitely gives us a better sense of the main characters and mentalities in the game, and seems to cover quite the span of time. The game’s plot is further elaborated in this video as well, and as expected, sounds intriguing as hell.

The Last of Us looks absolutely incredible, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think! The Last of Us releases worldwide on June 14th.

Welcome to Walking Dead Weekly! As the title implies, each week (bearing a new episode of course), we’ll be taking a look at the latest episode of the AMC series. I’ll let you know how I felt about each weekly offering, and will also compare it to what Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard were doing with the comic at the same time.

Last week, the Scott Gimple penned This Sorrowful Life brought some much needed life back into the series after two very lackluster weeks. This Sorrowful Life saw Merle kidnap Michonne with the intention of bringing her to the Governor (after all, Governor did say that he’d leave everyone else alone if she was given up). Merle was quite clearly already a pariah among the group, and he proceeds to “do the dirty work”, not for recognition, and certainly not for acceptance, but simply to save his brother and the people he loves. Then, suddenly, with only a few miles to go, Merle has a change of heart, sets Michonne free, and drives off into the horizon. He heads to the barn (where Rick and the Governor “negotiated”), and has one final stand against the Governor and his men before he is overpowered and killed. The episode ends with a heartbreaking scene: Daryl discovering his undead brother.  Aside from the few happy moments in the episode (Glenn and Maggie getting engaged), This Sorrowful Life was somber, heartfelt, and certainly heartbreaking. An excellent penultimate episode to a mostly excellent season.

What’s next? The entirety of season 3 has been leading up to this: a final battle between the prison and the inhabitants of Woodbury… or so we thought. Who comes out on top, who do we lose along the way, and what happens next? Read on and find out! As always, there are plenty of spoilers below, so don’t read any further until you’ve watched the episode! You’ve been warned!

Episode Thoughts – ‘Welcome to the Tombs’

Well, that certainly wasn’t the finale that was expecting.

Welcome to the Tombs opens with a fantastic POV sequence of the Governor brutally beating who we think must be Andrea… but turns out to actually be Milton. Governor knows that it was Milton who started the fire (and not Tyreese and crew as was originally thought), and Milton is getting quite the punishment. The two have quite a history, and it’s clear that Governor wants to teach Milton a lesson, but doesn’t want him dead. “You kill or you die” is a phrase that Governor uses early in the episode, and it’s certainly foreshadowing what’s to come.

Damn... Milton was one of the few Woodbury residents that I liked.
Damn… Milton was one of the few Woodbury residents that I liked.

Governor gives Milton an ultimatum: he can either kill Andrea and show Phillip that he’s learned something, or he can die. That’s it. It’s an easy choice for someone like the Governor, but Milton, who has repeatedly shown remorse and the simple fact that he has a heart, has a much harder time with it. He takes a few choice steps towards a chained Andrea (at which point I sincerely believed he would do it, an idea that was sending literal chills down my spine), before turning and lunging forward at the Governor… who quickly turns the knife back on Milton and stabs him repeatedly. Damn. Milton collapses to the floor, barely breathing, as the Governor explains that he’ll now die, turn, and make quick work of Andrea. Roll opening credits.

Back at the prison, it looks as though Rick and the gang are packing up. Could the group have chosen to leave instead of stay and fight? Carl’s pissed at Rick (what else is new), so it’s clear that we haven’t fully been filled in yet. Before entering his shiny Hyundai, Rick looks up and again sees a ghostly Lori staring down at him; could this be the last time? Is this goodbye? Carol and Daryl exchange some quick words about Merle, and the fact that what he did gave them all a chance, while Rick and Michonne talk of baby formula and old times.

She sure has a whole lot of screen time... you know, for a dead person.
She sure has a whole lot of screen time… you know, for a dead person.

We then head back to Woodbury, where Tyreese and his group are quick to tell the Governor that they won’t participate in this fight. They’re willing to help Woodbury defend against walkers, but will not attack a living being. You can almost see the Governor’s thought process here, and just as it looks as though he’s about to snap, he instead hands Tyreese a sniper rifle… and thanks him. Weird. He and all of the able-bodied members of Woodbury enter their vehicles, and head to the prison.

One quick cut, and we’re there… it’s clear that these two groups have a ton of fightin’ to do (right?), so it’s great that we’re getting to it this quickly. Grenade launchers and mounted machine guns tear apart the outer walls and the walkers inside them. The army then heads into the prison, which just as we expected, is empty. They then proceed into the prison basement, where they’re greeted with flashbangs and the undead. It becomes a race to get outside, where unsurprisingly, our heroes await. A moment of fire occurs between the two groups, and then… Woodbury flees?

That's just the first wave... right?
That’s just the first wave… right?

Anticlimactic as fuck; As soon as the battle ended (if you can even call it that), it was hard not to laugh at it. The entire season has been alluding to this, over and over again. We even had a 42 minute long conversation about the coming war, which ended up being nothing but a few minutes of each party not killing each other. Yeah, battles are expensive to shoot, but The Walking Dead is one of the biggest, baddest, and most popular shows on television. Plus, with a source issue as insane as this episode had, it’s really, really hard not to be disappointed. I was expecting a war, and a war I did not receive. Silly, silly me.

Moving on, Carl is certainly becoming quite the little killer. After Woodbury flees, a young member of the conscripted army comes across Hershel, Beth, and Carl. The guy is clearly scared, and immediately offers them his gun… and then Carl shoots him. Hershel looked shocked, and I’m sure that I did too. He later states that he was just doing what he had to do, doing what Rick consistently failed to do, doing whatever it took to save his family. Dang.

Screen Shot 2013-03-31 at 9.43.35 PM

Governor orders the convoy to stop, where he proceeds to yell at them to turn back for the prison. When the majority of the group refuses, Governor snaps, and opens fire on them. He brutally murders his entire team, his entire army of loyal followers (minus three: two extra-loyal soldiers, and one innocent who manages to hide) in seconds. His remaining lackeys then silently join Governor in one of the vehicles, and they drive off into the unknown. At least he goes out with a bang; this is the last we’ll see of the Governor in season three.

Back at Woodbury, Milton is dead, and Andrea is moving as fast as she possibly can to escape her cuffs before he turns. Things aren’t looking good however: seconds before we cut away from the scene, Milton’s hand begins to move once again. When we return to the two, Milton is clearly turned, and begins to approach Andrea, who has not yet managed to free herself from her handcuffs. We cut to outside the room and hear the struggle, which does not sound like it will end well for Andrea.

Rick, Daryl, and Michonne decide to go after the Governor, and quickly come across his murder site. It’s here that they meet Karen, a resident of Woodbury who managed to survive the massacre. They head back to Woodbury, where Karen quickly explains things to Tyreese, who has been guarding the wall in the Governor’s absence. Tyreese and company quickly join Rick’s group, as clearly they were wrong (dead wrong) about Governor Phillip.

Do we really want to know what's inside?
Do we really want to know what’s inside?

Tyreese leads the group to Andrea’s location. The door is opened, and it’s quickly revealed that Andrea has suffered a bite. She’s fading fast, and asks Rick to leave her his gun while she can still use it. He hands it to her, the group says their goodbyes, and leaves the room (except for Michonne, who stays until the bitter end). We then get a near-silent wide shot of the group standing outside the door. A heartbreaking amount of time passes here before we hear a gunshot, and the gun subsequently fall to the floor. Everyone has sure hated on Andrea this season (well, and since the show started), but this is some powerful stuff, and I could definitely feel the tears welling up as Andrea spoke her last words.

Somber, powerful music fills the rest of the episode as we see our survivors return to the prison, to their prison. The Governor is gone (at least for now), Woodbury has fallen, and the group is once again, safe. It’s the polar opposite ending from what I expected, but that’s it. Also, it looks as though Rick’s visions of Lori have stopped. The episode fades to black, and season three is over.

I sure hope these characters have significance, and aren't just walker-food for next year.
I sure hope these characters have significance, and aren’t just walker-food for next year.

I’m pretty torn on Welcome to the Tombs. On one hand, comic comparison and promises of war notwithstanding, this season ended on a note that none of us were expecting. For the first time in a long time, these characters once again have hope. They spent the majority of the season worrying about the Governor and his threats, and now, at least for a time, it seems as though they’ll be able to just simply live. It may not have been the violently cascading, “kill ’em all” ending that many of us were expecting (and hoping for), but one that opened up a whole new world to Rick and company, as well as the survivors of Woodbury… or maybe it was terrible and I’m just trying to justify its existence.

That being said, as I mentioned above, we were essentially promised a war, and then we received the furthest thing from it. That shit was disappointing. I once thought that the scale of the battle would be so large that it would require more than one episode (just like the comic arc required more than one issue), but obviously that isn’t the way things turned out. The season three tagline was Fight the dead, fear the living, and in retrospect, our group spent almost the entire season fearing something that simply fizzled out in the end. Lame as HELL, if I do say so myself.

One of the more powerful moments of the episode was a conversation between Andrea and a dying Milton. Fans all over the world have been wondering about, hating, and laughing at Andrea all through the season for her seemingly stupid decisions. In the end, she just didn’t want anyone else to die. She thought she could fix things, that the two groups could either go their separate ways, or live to help one another, but when it comes down to it, she was just sick and tired of all the death. It was a sad ending for her character, accompanied by an explanation that redeemed her for me. People do dumb things when they feel strongly about something, and that’s all that happened to Andrea (or at least how the writer’s covered it up).

Overall, it was a largely disappointing ending to a mostly excellent season. Season three had its ups (most of the early episodes, Clear), and its downs (Arrow on the Doorpost, Prey, etc.), but it told a coherent, cohesive story about the politics of living in a post-apocalyptic world, and just how evil the living can be. Certainly the best season of the show so far (even with this lackluster finale), and I’m looking forward to next October, when a Scott Gimple-led season four should up the ante even further… I just hope that he writes every episode.

Comic Comparison

If the last few editions of Walking Dead Weekly are any indication, you have some idea of what I’m about to say here: things are very different.

The battle for the prison is a shocking, insane, multi-issue arc in Robert Kirkman’s comic. I don’t want to give too much away due to what conspires in the show, but the battle leads to nearly everyone brutally dying: Tyreese has his head cut off with Michonne’s sword, both Lori and a newborn Judith are obliterated by a shotgun blast, Axel gets a bullet to the head, and many other characters that we’ve yet to even meet in the series meet a bitter end during the battle. It ends up being one of the Governor’s own soldiers that turns on him, finally seeing the evil in his ways, and ending him before he can hurt anyone else. This is the battle I wanted, this is the battle I expected. We saw nothing of the sort… in fact, with all of the bullets flying around during AMC’s short, short conflict, I don’t think a single one hit its target.

Screen Shot 2013-03-31 at 10.35.13 PM

Fans of the comic know full well, but Andrea’s character is one that’s nearly unrecognizable between the two versions. While AMC’s Andrea was constantly getting into trouble, making poor decisions, and sleeping with the enemy, the paper version was (and continues to be) an absolute badass, and one of the most helpful members of the group. In the comic, Rick and Andrea eventually fall in love, and make a kick-ass couple. It looks like they’ll never get the chance on AMC, which is good, because the television versions of the characters would make a terrible, terrible duo.

The Governor never made it past the prison in the comic arc, so it’ll certainly be interesting to see what AMC does with his character next year! The comic gave us brutal Governor moments that the show never dared to touch, so it’s possible that we still have no idea just how evil David Morrisey’s Governor can be.

Well, that’s it for this season of Walking Dead Weekly. Let us know what you thought of the episode (and the column) below! As always, thanks for reading!

You should definitely play this while waiting for season four.

We’ve been so caught up with things all WonderCon (and our wonderful new website) that we totally missed out on the fifth character poster for Pacific Rim, this time featuring American Jaeger, Gipsy Danger.

I wasn’t lucky enough to be at the Pacific Rim WonderCon panel myself, but I’ve been hearing pretty unanimously ever since that this film is going to be insane (if you didn’t already know).

In any case, check out the new poster below, and let us know what you think! Pacific Rim hits theatres on July 12th!

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

We’ve seen clips, but yesterday marked the first official trailer release for Fox’s upcoming Animation Domination series, Axe Cop. Axe Cop was created in 2009 by brothers Malachai Nicolle and Ethan Nicolle. Malachai was just five years old at the projects inception, and is responsible for the book’s ideas, while Ethan turns them into comics.

Axe Cop became a worldwide sensation almost overnight, so it’s no surprise that Fox optioned it for their upcoming animation block.

Watch the trailer for Axe Cop below, and let us know what you think! Axe Cop premieres on July 27th.

Zombieland: The Series is coming (at least in pilot form), and today we got our first look. The first poster for the upcoming series was released earlier today (via The Huffington Post), as was a first cast image (via Movies.com).

The Zombieland pilot was recently greenlit by Amazon, and will star Izabela Vidovic as Little Rock, Kirk Ward as Tallahassee, Malara Walsh as Wichita, and Tyler Ross as Columbus.

The Zombieland project started as a television show, long before it turned into a feature film, so it’ll be quite interesting to see it in the format it was originally envisioned. Both Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are returning to write the show, so it should definitely retain the same feel as the movie did.

Check out the images below, and let us know what you think! Are you looking forward to the series?

The wide release of Fede Alvarez’ anticipated horror remake Evil Dead is just around the corner. The film premiered just a few weeks back at SXSW 2013, and while Evil Dead has been mostly revered (check out Jonathan’s review here), it also holds its fair share of contrasting opinions (check out a second opinion from Brent Moore here).

Via World Star Hip Hop, today saw a new red band clip released for the film. It’s bloody, gory, and not for the faint of heart, but if you’re looking forward to the film, you’re going to love it.

Watch the clip below, and let us know what you think! Grossed out? Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Evil Dead hits theatres on April 5th.

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

We’re now just a few weeks away from the release date of Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Warner Bros. Interactive today revealed that a playable demo for the game will be hitting Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 2nd.

I was rather reserved about Injustice when I first learned of its existence (we’re all well aware of how Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe turned out), but the more footage I see, the more I can see that the developers are trying (and hard) to avoid a repeat of that disaster. A playable demo well before the game’s release date is a great gesture, and I’m sure that if the quality is there, it will win back fans that still have a bad taste in their mouth from that last DC brawler.

A new trailer for the game has also been released featuring Black Adam. Watch it below, and let us know what you think! Injustice: Gods Among Us hits stores on April 16th.

Warner Bros. has just released another new character poster for Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming, highly anticipated film, Pacific Rim. The new image features Striker Eureka, the Australian Jaeger. Check it out below, and let us know what you think! Pacific Rim hits theatres on July 11th!

You can also see the previously released posters here, here, and here.

Universal has just released a cool batch of new Oblivion stills via the Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide. The images look like a mix of production stills and behind-the-scenes, and definitely give a great look into the upcoming anticipated film.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft.  Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion was shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.

Before today, I wasn’t even aware that Telltale was working on a game set in Vertigo’s Fables universe. Today, that game got an official title.

The game is called The Wolf Among Usand will feature (who else but) Bigby Wolf in the starring role. Little else is known about the game at this time, but The Wolf Among Us is set to release later this year for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

“Developing The Wolf Among Us based on the Fables universe has allowed our studio to build upon all of the hallmarks of what makes our episodic series so engaging for players,” Telltale CEO Dan Connors told IGN. “Through an evolution of our approach to choice and consequence, we can further explore the complexity of each and every iconic character in a universe rich with untold history from the darkest sides of the storybooks.”

Sure, this sounds cool as hell, but the Telltale title I’m really waiting for is, of course, season two of The Walking Dead!
