After 3 years of being an exclusive for the struggling console, the survival horror game ZombiU is now making its way to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 18th as just Zombi. The game received mostly praise with it’s initial Wii U release, most of it which came from the very smooth integration of the Wii U Gamepad. I had the chance to rent the game back when it launched and felt it was a pretty solid experience. It should be noted that Zombi will be released only on digital platforms, so people hoping to snag a physical copy of the game are in for some disappointing news. Here’s the official announce trailer for the game. Will you be picking up Zombi when it launches?

If you’re new to this series, think Sim City, but in space. Anno 2205 is the sixth installment of the franchise and will allow players to venture to the moon. From the official release:

In Anno 2205 players will join mankind’s next step into the future, with the promise of building a better tomorrow by expanding into space. Players must develop rich metropolises on Earth that are capable of launching missions to the moon as they race to establish production colonies on the lunar surface. By mining the Moon’s resources to send back down to Earth, Anno 2205 players will receive the benefits of technological advancements and the tools to help expand their cities and transform them into thriving metropolises.

The new Anno 2205 Engine paves the way for players to build cities on islands five times the size of those in previous Anno games. It also allows for a high level of graphical detail in the game, so players can immerse themselves in futuristic cities that come to life with flying cars, more than a million thriving citizens, churning factories, and grinding mines. Gameplay uses a revolutionary session mode that lets players control several sessions on Earth and on the Moon simultaneously, and connects multiple regions via different sessions.

“We’re proud to take players beyond the realms of planet earth with the biggest Anno game ever,” said Benedikt Grindel, studio manager at Blue Byte. “The development team has been working hard to ensure we are integrating fresh and innovative new content, whilst remaining faithful to the roots of the Anno franchise.”

Fans should know that you will be able to build cities up to five times larger than any previous installment of the Anno series. Gamers will also be able utilize a new session mode that will let you control several sessions on Earth, as well as the Mon simultaneously.

Fans can pre-order the game now for access to a closed beta that will arrive closer to launch. Anno 2205 is set to release November 3, 2015.

We all knew it was coming. The next installment of the Assassin’s Creed saga is here and Ubisoft has showed it off through two videos. First, a cinematic story trailer:

London, 1868. The Industrial Revolution unleashes an incredible age of invention, transforming the lives of millions with technology once thought impossible. Opportunities created during this period have people rushing to London to engage in this new world, a world no longer controlled by kings, emperors, politicians, or religion, but by a new common denominator: money. Not everyone is able to enjoy the benefits of this boom, however. Introducing Jacob Frye, who with the help of his twin sister Evie, will change the fate of millions in Assassin’s Creed® Syndicate. Rise to rally and lead the underworld to break the corrupt stranglehold on London in a visceral adventure filled with action, intrigue, and brutal combat.

New location, new toys, and new people. If the cinematic trailer piqued your interest, check out a gameplay walkthrough narrated by Lydia Andrew, Audio Director on Assassin’s Creed Syndicate!

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set to release Fall 2015!

Tom Clancy’s The Division, a Ubisoft title, has two trailers making the rounds today. The first, a story-driven trailer, reminds gamers just what this game is about. Set in an environment where society has fallen, The Division features a rag tag group of soldiers who are fighting to preserve what is left of society as we know it.

Check out the first trailer below:

The second trailer shows off the game’s multiplayer. The Division utilizes teamwork and a variety of toys in order to complete your objectives. Check it out for yourself:

The Division is set to release March 8th, 2016.

Even though at one point they said they wouldn’t, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are at it again with another South Park video game title. This time borrowing from some of the super hero fandom our culture is experiencing, Parker and Stone are excited to announce South Park: The Fractured but Whole.

This time, players will delve into the crime-ridden underbelly of South Park with Coon and Friends. This dedicated group of crime fighters was formed by Eric Cartman whose superhero alter-ego, The Coon, is half man, half raccoon. As the New Kid, players will join Mysterion, Toolshed, Human Kite, Mosquito, Mint Berry Crunch and a host of others to battle the forces of evil while Coon strives to make his team the most beloved superheroes in history.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole is set to release in 2016.

Ubisoft’s 2014 press conference is live at 3:00pm, and we’re here at E3 to tell you everything the company has coming.

We’ll be seeing more from their (sadly delayed) shooter, The Division, a buttload of Assassin’s Creed, and probably something about a new Watch Dogs, but what else could Ubi talk about? Will they finally released some Beyond Good and Evil 2 details? Is another Rayman coming down the pipeline? Whatever happened to the Rabbids?

Briefly: It’s a damn good week to be an Assassin’s Creed fan. Both the long awaited and gorgeous Assassin’s Creed: Unity, as well as the completely-different and definitely intriguing Assassin’s Creed: Rogue will be hitting store shelves this Tuesday, and I know many, many folks who have elected to take the day off of work in order to put as much time as possible into both of these titles. Sadly, I’m not one of those people, but my time will definitely come.

To celebrate the looming release, Machinima has just debuted a fabulous and hilarious short called Assassin’s Creed: The Musical. If you’re not an AC fan, you probably won’t understand much of what’s going on (nor will you likely be reading this post), but I was in stitches for the duration. Especially “Leap of Faith” (you’ll see what I mean when you watch the video below).

Here’s what it’s all about:

Just days before the launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity, the smash hit franchise Assassin’s Creed gets the Off-Broadway treatment as Machinima Prime brings the violent video game into the world of musical theater with the launch of Assassin’s Creed: The Musical. Inspired by an improv’d bit during an episode of Inside Gaming q&a last year, Prime has produced a three-song musical theatre experience for the popular gaming franchise that debuts on Thursday, November 6.

Featuring the characters from past games including AltairEzioConnorEdwardAveline, even Desmond Miles in elaborate costumes, the video is directed by Brendan Bradley with original songs by Cormac Bluestone and Joel Rubin. The video stars Machinima Inside Gaming hosts Bruce Greene and Eliot Dewberry along with an accomplished group of musical stars including Matt Caplan (Bway’s RentSouth Pacific Revival, Spiderman Turn Off The Dark, High Fidelity), Jonah Platt (HAIR Hollywood Bowl, a regular at Rockwell Stage including a Bway World Best Actor Nominee for BARE), Ben Palacios(SPANK! National Tour and youtube parody singer), Jaquita Ta’le (from the Hip Hop/R&B/Reggae group Nola Darling).

The first song “The Assassins Creed” is a rousing number with hints of Lion King imagery, followed by a monster anthem/torch song “Leap of Faith,” and concluding with a chorus number  that will make everyone familiar with Broadway think of the hit musical Assassins!”

Take a look at the short below (with a warning that it will probably be stuck in your head for some time afterwards), and be sure to let us know what you think! Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Assassin’s Creed: Rogue both release on November 11th. Which are you planning to pick up?

http://youtu.be/KycIuE_Md2c

My body is probably still recovering from San Diego Comic-Con (I know that my mind still is), and I’m really excited to today share a couple of the offsite events that I was able to partake in.

Right across from the convention centre (where the Ender’s Game event was located last year) was Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Experience. The parkour-styled (for babies like me of course) obstacle course was designed to let attendees experience some of the moves from the Assassin’s Creed series, without having to find their own Animus and become an actual assassin.

Before the event, the company released a great breakdown of the course. Take a look below:

Now, this event was busy. I showed up about an hour and a half before the event opened on Sunday… and the lineup was huge. Luckily, and awesome event employee named Paul helped me figure things out, and I actually ended up being the very first runner of the day.

As you can see in the video below, the actual obstacle course itself wasn’t too hard (except for the rings, which are a lot harder than they look), but my time was certainly nothing to write home about. Participants could request to compete for top time of the day to win some cool prizes, and the best time of the event was just over 20 seconds.

Like I said, the course wasn’t hard, but the leap of faith was pretty terrifying. I didn’t think that 25 feet was that high, but it looks pretty daunting when you get up there. I’m not a huge fan of heights (that’s an understatement), and I’ve never really jumped off of anything before, so I didn’t really know what to do when I got up there. You don’t see much of me after the jump, but I was pretty shaky for quite awhile… and I feel really silly about that as it was just 25 feet.

I always thought skydiving or bungie jumping would be a lot of fun, but I don’t think I’d like to do either anymore.

Overall, the event was a great follow-up to last year’s pirate ship party, and with Assassin’s Creed: Unity looking like the best Assassin’s Creed yet, it’s going to be a great holiday season for Ubisoft. Take a look at my run below, and let us know what you think!

Hands down my most favorite thing I got to do at SDCC this year was checking out the newest product from Thrustmaster. The Ferrari 458 wheel addon for their T500RS system is an incredible piece of kit, and honestly a must have for ANY racing fan.

I met up with Michael from Thrustmaster at the Ubisoft booth on the show floor. He gave me a quick rundown of the product. The Ferrari 458 addon for their T500RS system brings a new level of refinement to the system. The familiar Ferrari logo sits in the center of this “Real World” accurate wheel, apropos switches and buttons circle the control column, paddle shifters are within reach, and the whole thing is wrapped in leather.

Ferrari 458 Wheel Addon
Ferrari 458 Wheel Addon

Michael explained to me that this particular wheel system has had the most thought put into it. This generation has five competing driving games being produced at the same time, which include The Crew and Project Cars. Thrustmaster met with all five developers to create the most ubiquitous driving system ever. He explained that each game has it’s own physics system. How each game transmits how the car on screen reacts to the driving surface and collisions. By joining forces with various game developers, Thrustmaster was able to create a controller that could interpret almost any output data to strong force feedback.

I sat down in a nice bucket seat, and the Ferrari 458 wheel was presented to me along with the T500RS pedals. Michael explained that Thrustmaster has teamed with Playseat in some of their higher end setups to provide the closest to the real thing any gamer could want. The Ubisoft presenter ran me through a quick run down of how The Crew demo worked and I was quickly paired up with three other players in the booth.

T500RS Pedals in the F1 Setup. As I demoed them.
T500RS Pedals in the F1 Setup. As I demoed them.

The first demo featured the four of us trying to take down a target. The moment I took off from the start I immediately knew how serious Thrustmaster was with this product. Driving over hills, bumps, road, sand, water and even through fences the wheel reacted differently on each surface. I struggled to keep the wheel under control, and Michael gave me a few pro tips on getting everything under control. The first demo ended and I found myself in last place. The T500RS wheel system really beat me up, and Michael explained that during this demo the wheel was set at it’s lowest sensitivity, and at the highest I probably wouldn’t have made it out alive, obviously joking Michael went on to explain that Thrustmaster had teamed up with colleges around the world for a brand new collegiate F1 racing league. Colleges would use Thrustmaster wheel systems to train their team’s before putting them on the track. Just after my first race of The Crew with the T500RS wheel I knew how it could easily be used in a total simulation environment.

The next demo was a street race, more my style. I quickly entered first and Michael gave me accolade for my use of the brake pedal. He also mentioned that Thrustmaster offered a pedal upgrade for this system that let users adjust the force feedback on the pedals. A few nice drifts and smooth turns later and I found myself at the finish. Our demo had ended.

Leaving the cockpit I instantly wanted more. The Crew was an amazing experience. The world looked beautiful, and coupled with the Thrustmaster T500RS system it felt amazing. I cannot give these two products higher marks. If you have to pick only one driving game this generation make it The Crew, and do yourself a huge favor and snag this racing wheel.

Afterwards, Michael told me about a new gaming league Thrustmaster was starting up this Fall. They wanted to create a new E-Sports gaming league centered around driving games. Fighting and FPS games are highly featured in many tournaments, and games like LoL and DOTA 2 have huge purses. Thrustmaster wants to bring that status to driving games. Gamers can get a hands on experience with the T500RS system and participate in the beginning legs of the first tournament at Gamestops sometime in late August. More details will be released soon from Thrustmaster so be sure to stay tuned to Geekscape Gaming for future updates.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Growing up with a Flight Instructor for a father, and some of the first games I ever played being flight simulators, Thrustmaster was a common name in our household. The company has pedigree, and it really shows with the Ferrari 458 Wheel and the T500RS system. The brushless motor was supremely smooth, but accurately conveyed the different driving surfaces I experience while playing The Crew.

The Crew was one of my most hyped games from E3 previous and this year. What Ubisoft has planned to release seems daunting, but from the short demo I had, I believe they can do it.

Officially revealed with a teaser trailer back in March, Ubisoft today debuted a cool new gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Here’s what Ubisoft says about the title:

Assassin’s Creed Unity reinvents the franchise, starting with the core gameplay pillars that have defined the series from the beginning: navigation, stealth and combat. Players will carve their way through a stunning, full-scale open-world Paris, thanks to the power of the new Anvil engine, rebuilt from the ground up for new generation consoles. Assassin’s Creed Unity gives players full control parkour mechanics, a reinvented fighting system for a richer combat experience, a new stealth mode, cover system and crowd manipulation techniques. Players can channel their inner Assassin, customizing weapons, equipment, outfits and specialized skills to match their play style.

In addition to the sprawling single-player campaign, players can join with up to three friends and take part in story-driven online co-op missions designed specifically for Assassins to play together. Skills and unique gear acquired in the single-player missions will be accessible in co-op and will define a player’s personalized Assassin’s style, whether emphasizing brute force, agility or stealth. Players also will select a unique co-op skill that will help the team survive, evade or fight more effectively to the benefit of the team.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve played an Assassin’s Creed title, but I cannot wait to check out Unity, and especially its co-op multiplay, as it looks like it’s exactly what I imagined when the first game released. Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Assassin’s Creed Unity hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28th.

Briefly: Officially revealed with a teaser trailer back in March, Ubisoft debuted an awesome co-op demo of Assassin’s Creed Unity at today’s Microsoft press conference (which SJ and Jonathan covered here).

Assassin’s Creed Unity hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28th.

Ubisoft’s 2014 press conference is live at 3:00pm, and we’re here at E3 to tell you everything the company has coming.

The company is definitely going to talk about the insane (commercial) success of their latest IP, Watch Dogs… even if the game has a lot of problems. We’ll be seeing more from their (sadly delayed) shooter, The Division, but what else could Ubi talk about? Will they finally released some Beyond Good and Evil 2 details? Is another Rayman coming down the pipeline? Whatever happened to the Rabbids?

Read on, find out, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Watch Dogs is nearly here. With only 5 more days to go before we jump into the shoes of Aiden Pearce and hack all the things, Ubisoft gives us one last look with the launch trailer released today.

Besides the quotes from some websites I never heard of, the trailer has that movie-esque vibe with some decent backing music. Let’s hope that all the hype Ubisoft has been dishing out all these months is worth the wait when Watch Dogs is released on May 27, 2014 for pretty much everything except the WiiU. Nintendo will have to wait until later on in 2014 for their version.

Briefly: Watch Dogs is finally almost here, and Ubisoft has debuted a new 9-minute ‘101’ trailer for the game that takes us through almost every facet of the experience.

The video showcases some intense action that we haven’t seen before, introduces us to some interesting characters, shows off the game’s intriguing smartphone app, and plenty more. Some of it does look a little silly however, like running away from the cops as a mechanical spider in one of the game’s ‘Digital Trips’.

The game looks like a lot of fun, and as I’ve definitely been looking for something new to play on my PS4, I can’t wait to pick it up. Watch Dogs was my “must have” title for the PS4 launch before it was delayed, so I sure hope that it’s worth the wait.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Watch Dogs hits PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on May 27th!

Briefly: After what seems like forever, Watch Dogs is finally just a month away from release.

Ubisoft has just launched an eight-minute multiplayer walkthrough for the title, which showcases some fantastic cat and mouse gameplay. According to the description, in “Watch Dogs’ groundbreaking multiplayer modes where everything and everyone is connected. Learn how Watch Dogs is blurring the line between single and multiplayer, and get a glimpse into three distinct and exciting modes including Online Hacking Contracts, ctOS – Mobile Companion App, and Competitive Decryption Combat.”

The game looks like a lot of fun, and as I’ve definitely been looking for something new to play on my PS4, I can’t wait to pick this one up. Watch Dogs was my “must have” title for the PS4 launch before it was delayed, so I sure hope that it’s worth the wait.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: A few days back, Shane published what turned out to be an extremely-legitimate leak of the next Assassin’s Creed game, subtitled Unity.

Today, Ubisoft confirmed the title’s existence with a teaser trailer. Most of the leaked information on the title appears to be correct, including the fact that it will release only on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Not having to keep older platforms in mind should help Ubisoft craft something absolutely beautiful here; I remember how gorgeous ACIV looked on the PS4 just a few months back, and this will surely blow it out of the water.

Here’s what Ubisoft had to say about the announcement:

We have been working on the new Assassin’s Creed for more than three years, and wanted to find the perfect time to give you an early taste of the game. Apparently though, the Templar Order was hungry to know more right now. To this, we say “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche!” (“Let them eat cake!”). Help yourself to a serving of the first official footage from the next-gen only Assassin’s Creed Unity. Stay tuned – we’ll have many more exciting details for you in the future.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Fresh outta GDC, Ubisoft and their team over at Massive produced this fancy little video expanding on their amazing new game engine, Snowdrop.

The more and more I see about this game the more I want it NOW! The environmental inclusion is on a level that you would only see in Pixar movies, and the ease of working on the engine is astounding.

You and your friends can get your hands on The Division sometime in Q4 of 2014 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

A few weeks ago, this interesting post came up on the NeoGaf forums. It was posted by a user retailing the events that transpired on a plane with someone who was involved in the Assassin’s Creed Development.

So i was on a flight earlier today and playing liberation on my vita when the guy sitting next to me asked me what i thought about the game. I said it was pretty good to which he said that i will probably love the next one too. I told him that i already played black flag to which he smiled at me and said the one after that. Turns out that the guy was someone close to the series (dev/pr) and although he didn’t disclose what exactly his position was, he did give me a fair bit of info on the upcoming title. My day was literally made when towards the end of our conversation he showed me a short clip about the game on his ipad. Mind you the guy was a not a native english speaker so there might be some errors in what he meant and i what i am posting here.

set in paris and england (london?)

main characters name is arno/harno something. will be heading the french divison of assassins.

looks to be set after the ezio period, character had handgun.

looks like victorian era judging by the way npc dressed, architecture, horse carriages parked on the streets.

Villa management is back. MC has his own villa (guy says its ezio’s villa from AC:B). dunno if it makes any sense geographically or it might be a mistranslation.

codename is AC:unity. Not final title, might be battle/fight something (cant remember). The AC logo is cut in the middle like the beyond/quantum break logo.

MC has a blue suit with a tinge of red in the clip(might change). looked similar to the ones worn by the Knights in order 1886.

from the clip it looks like a cross gen title. Although the guy tells me its next gen only title.

Visually looked quiet decent but it was ver early footage. Had fantastic draw distance and crowd density was much higher than the older games despite them appearing/disappearing from thin air.

Much like most rumors on the internet, this particular one was mostly ignored, until today!

The team over at Kotaku got their hands on some sweet screenshots, and a lot of information mostly corroborating the NeoGaf user’s post.

The nitty gritty details Kotaku was able to get from their source are fairly promising. Unity, will be released sometime this fall and will be out on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The other AC title, codenamed Comet, will be out the same time but on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Unity will take place in late 18th century Paris (as you can see in the screenshots) and it brings to the table a new Parkour system. If you peak at the screenshots, you can see that there are buttons assigned to “Parkour Up” and “Parkour Down”. I imagine this little addition will be a huge step in the right direction for the series in terms of navigation.

The feature I a m MOST excited for is the return of the Villa management system. If you remember way back in AC:II, you could upgrade Ezio’s Villa. With shops, vendors, arts and architecture. All these upgrades would bring in money every so often. I LOVED getting my main base all the way upgraded.

No other details have been leaked or released, but expect to hear much more when we get closer to fall 2014.

Back when South Park started its legendary run in 1997, I remember being an eager kid who couldn’t wait to get my hands on anything and everything related to the show, (since I was obviously part of its intended audience). Unfortunately for me, this included games. Games which were horrible. Sadly, save for a handful of exceptions, South Park has been a property that has consistently churned out awful games. Hoping to turn that around, South Park: The Stick Of Truth aims to put gamers into an episode of the show, complete with it outlandish humor, absurd scenarios and tons of vulgarity. TV shows rarely translate into a good game, but with South Park, it turns out to be a very strong exception.

Placed in the shoes of a new kid who just moved into the town, players can customize him with a variety of hair and clothing options before being tossed head first into town. Getting dragged in to a game of Wizards and Warriors that the boys are playing, it doesn’t take long before Grand Wizard Cartman recruits him in his war against the elves, officially joining the Kingdom of Kupa Keep, (or the KKK for short.)

Exploring the city of South Park feels just like you were watching an episode of the show. The town’s citizens, the look of the buildings, the background music and the snarky comments they make have that offensive authentic show feel. Thanks to the script being written by show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, it explains why the game gets everything so right script wise. Plus, if you’re a fan of the show, you’re sure to  spot the almost countless references from the show. From the movie theater playing Asses of Fire 2, the Tweek Bros. Coffee Shop, City Wok and Skeeter’s Bar, if it’s been on the show, it’s likely in the game.

Exploring the city will often grant you side quests to complete for the town’s citizens. Since fights net you so little XP, the best way to level up is to complete as many of these missions as possible, allowing you to upgrade your combat abilities, use better equipment and weapons. Upon completion, most missions will allow you to add these citizens to your Facebook friends list, which unlocks new perks to customize your character with. Who says it doesn’t pay off to help people?

South Park The Stick Of Truth Screen 2Summons like Mr. Kim are hysterical.

As for the game’s original content, it’s every bit as disturbing, uncomfortable and laugh out loud hilarious as you would expect with something bearing the South Park name. I’m not going to give any of those moments away since they’re best experienced without any idea going in, but let’s just say that you’ll be doing things that you might never have expected you would every do in a video game. The story itself is just as funny, lampooning video game tropes while mixing in the celebrity lampooning and social commentary you would expect. In typical show fashion, the boy’s game of pretend gets caught up in a potentially Earth shattering event, pitting then against such menaces as the homeless, vicious sewer mice and even other friends. And somehow, it manages to sustain its comedic qualities all the way through.

Gameplay wise, The Stick Of Truth is a turn based RPG reminiscent of more interactive combat systems such as the Mario RPG series or The Legend Of Dragoon. After choosing one of the four in game classes, (consisting of a Warrior, Thief, Mage or Jew), each character can take on enemies using their class specific abilities and their buddy at their side. The combat system is a little more lenient compared to your typical game in the genre, allowing players or their buddy to use an item, special ability, (which is unique to each party member), or summon as they’re unlocked without taking up the turn. Combat abilities, switching party members, magic and attacks take up one turn, but can be powered up with specific button prompts. Once the opponent’s turn rolls around, perfect timing with the guard button defends against their attacks, reducing damage in the process.

South Park The Stick Of Truth Screen 1Combat is more fun than you’d ever expect from a licensed game.

In one sense, the game feels almost too easy at points. All HP and PP heals after every battle, nearly limitless items will keep you in good shape and certain weapons are really powerful. On the flip side, certain locales act as dungeons, which are basically long sets of fights that usually end in a big boss battle. Not having to manage hurt characters throughout the gauntlet is definitely a good thing. Not only that, but enemies are unforgiving, so if you mess up, you’re likely going to die. It’s a bit of a give and take. Later in the game, enemies have much higher armor, so weapons do very little damage. At this point, stacking status effects on your opponents becomes key, and really sets the game apart from the typical, “mash attack to win” formula many RPGs adopt. I just wish it would have been more of a mixed bag instead of one or the other, since the early game doesn’t offer enough viable abilities to exploit the status effects, while the late game relies on them far too much. Overall though, the gameplay is ridiculously addictive, if not a little rough.

But humor and authenticity aside, there are a few glaring flaws that Stick of Truth missed by a mile. For one, there is no option to skip a turn or defend for your main character, making it harder to prolong fights when trying to farm for items as the thief for example. In typical Obsidian fashion, the game is full of bugs, ranging from small ones like spawning in a wall, to big ones like story missions flat out not proceeding, (make sure you have a couple of back up saves ready to load). As awesome as the town is, you can see the entire thing in about 45 minutes, so it’s easy to get tired of the scenery real quickly, (especially since some important locations are nowhere to be found. Let’s hope they’re saving those for a potential sequel).

These complaints are mostly minor, but the two biggest oversights are the lack of post game content and locking players out of dungeons permanently, both of which could have been solved by a New Game +. At around 12 hours, the game’s length is perfect for the story that was told, containing little to no filler along the way, but some extra missions, side quests or bonus bosses would have been nice. To make matters worse, almost every dungeon cannot be re-entered after completing them, all of which contain collectables like Facebook friends, equipment, weapons and Chinpokomon dolls, (remember those?) If you miss any of those, guess what? It’s back to a new game for you!

This aspect makes zero sense. If you could go back into dungeons post game, it would have added to the exploration aspect of the game while alleviating the monotony of the city. If you had a new game plus that let you replay your game with all of your collectables, you could go back and find what you’re missing while fully maxing out your character, (since the level cap doesn’t give you enough ability points to do so). For some reason, the developers did neither, and the game suffers for it.

South Park The Stick Of Truth Screen 5Welcome to the Kingdom of Kupa Keep.

Regardless, South Park: The Stick Of Truth had a ton of care put into its story, writing and gameplay, and the results show. As one of the best licensed games in recent memory, the game is sure to hit the nostalgia nerve of longtime fans repeatedly while leaving them in stitches the whole way through. It’s sad to think that this game could have been an early game of the year contender if it wasn’t for the lack of post game content, the large amount of glitches or the lack of variety in the setting, but here’s to hoping a sequel eventually brings the full potential out of the winning formula the guys and girls at Obsidian and South Park Studios have cooked up. If you’re a fan of the show, this is a no brainer. The Stick Of Truth belongs in your consoles. Seriously you guys!

Positives:

+ An authentic show feel, complete with a slew of characters, references and locations.

+ A laugh out loud script that will have you in tears from beginning to end when your jaw’s not on the floor thanks to its absurd scenarios.

+ The creative interactive combat system tends to reward strategy and status effects over brute force.

Negatives:

– Glitches galore can range from minor annoyances to game breaking.

– A lack of post game content feels like the developers fell asleep at the wheel, especially since collectables and upgrades make the game ripe for a new game + feature.

– Locking players out of dungeons permanently takes away from the exploration aspect of the game, leaving only the repetitive town and two small areas.

Final score: 3.5/5

Briefly: Ubisoft has been all-but-silent on the Watch Dogs front since the game was delayed back in October. Today, the publisher officially announced the game’s new release date, and also released a new story trailer for the anticipated title.

The new trailer gives us a much better sense of just what’s going on in the game, which is something that wasn’t overly clear before. We also see Aiden’s motivations for his actions, and a ton of new action to boot.

You can take a look at the new story trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think. Watch Dogs will launch on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4 on May 27th. The Wii U version is currently without a release date.

While gamers in North America get to enjoy all the uncensored glory of the new South Park game, The Stick of Truth, the European market gets to stare at an image of Michaelangelo’s David statue with some colorful flavor text describing the scene.

south park: stick of truth

Australia is not to be left out of the censorship follies for South Park: The Stick of Truth either. Instead of Michaelangelo’s David statue, Aussies will gaze upon an image of a crying koala. I’m sure our foreign friends will find it easy to view the scene in question with the amount of streams of South Park: The Stick of Truth that will flood Twitch.tv this week.

The game looks awesome, the dialogue is hilarious, the voice acting is perfect, and you’re basically inside of a freaking episode.

Today, Ubisoft debuted 13 minutes of new gameplay for the game, which shows our introduction to the new kid, and his introduction to the various residents of South Park. The video is well worth watching, and definitely gives us a great idea of what to expect from the title.

In their latest adventure, the boys embark on a quest to the Inn of the Giggling Donkey, an infamous tavern that harbors the scum of all the realm.

There, it is believed the famed Bard guards the hallowed stick of truth. In order to defeat the Bard’s followers, you’ll have to throw everything you have at the enemy, including dodge balls and farts. Poison your foes with your flatulence, and refill your mana with burritos.

Along with your party member Butters and his legendary hammer of justice, play through the most outrageous turn-based live-action role-playing adventure that could only come from the creators of South Park. This is South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Briefly: Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed IV: Freedom Cry all the way back in October (before Assassin’s Creed IV even launched), and has just released the launch trailer for the expansive single-player DLC.

Freedom Cry tells the story of born slave Adewale. Adewale eventually found freedom as a pirate aboard the Jackdaw, where he became Edward Kenway’s second-in-command. Now, 15 years later, Adewale has become a trained Assassin who finds himself shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue without weapons or crew. He starts to meet locals in an effort to assemble a crew and steal a ship. The more he helps, however, the more he is drawn into the Maroon slave community. Forced to face his past, Adewale sets out to free the slaves and bring death to their captors.

Sounds neat, huh? Freedom Cry brings an entirely new single-player story to the already gigantic game. Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be grabbing the DLC when it releases tomorrow!
