While I didn’t love (or even really like) The Hunger Games, its sequel is really beginning to look like one to watch out for. The first trailer for the film premiered back in April, and despite watching it with much skepticism, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed.

Lionsgate has just revealed a new poster for the film, and it really helps solidify the fact that Katniss is a bad ass. Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think! The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theatres on November 22nd! Those of you that have read the books, are you looking forward to the second film?

CatchingFireNew

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Not too long ago rumors started spreading of a new offshoot of HUB’s My Little Pony: Friendship of Magic. Titled Equestria Girls, the leaks and rumors all had the same thing to say. Humanized ponies, in High School. When I saw the first screenshots I was a little bemused by Hasbros choice of direction. Well now we have official word in the form of a trailer. Check out “Equestria Girls”.

Coming out in theaters June 16th, Equestria Girls looks as if it is a MAJOR departure from the show. I must reserve judgement until I see it, but frankly this has ZERO appeal to me. Granted I am not the designated target market for this kind of film, but I was also not the target market for the show and I freaking love that! I just find it kind of… dis-empowering that after destroying evil a billion times, the most difficult thing Twilight Sparkle is going to face is being Prom Queen.

The most controversial trailer of the year is finally here! Nope, it’s not controversial because of its content, but simply because the source material’s creator is… well, a crazy asshole.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think. Ender’s Game stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Abigail Breslin, and plenty of others, and hits theatres on November 1st!

Jonathan shared his thoughts on the film and the Ender’s Game author Orson Scott Card back in February. It’s an amazing listen/watch, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend it!

IT MUST BE CHRISTMAS IN APRIL!  Rockstar Games has just put out this rad new set of trailers for the upcoming GTA 5! I’d like you to meet Michael. Franklin and Trevor.

The three different styles and tones from each of these videos has me pumped in so many different ways. Looks like we can be Tony Soprano, Ice Cube and a fucked up Walter White. You can get your hands on GTA 5 this September!

Along with a cool new clip for Iron Man 3, tonight’s MTV Movie Awards also featured the premiere of the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. A year after our victor’s return to their homes, President Snow forces them (and other champions) back for another round. So, I guess we can think of Catching Fire as a more violent Survivor: All Stars?

Watch the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire below, and let us know what you think! Catching Fire hits theatres on November 22nd.

It may only be a few seconds, but fans itching for their first taste of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire just got it. The first footage from the film has been released by MTV in a commercial for their upcoming movie awards ceremony.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live on April 14th at 9PM, and will feature the full first trailer for the film.

Yesterday was a day of fools, with countless internet pranks and viral marketings. Valve announced Half-Life 3 and Reddit bought Team Fortress 2. So you can understand my, caution, when I saw that the trailer for Thief 4 had leaked. Well, turns out it is legitimate and some of the devs are slightly pissed. Take a watch with me!

After this trailer leaked, the guys over at Eidos scrambled and put it up officially on their website.

The Thief series of games puts players in a 18th or 19th century steampunk world, as a master thief (hard to believe, a game called thief where you play a thief!). Thief 2 is known as one of the greatest stealth games of all time.

No official release date or anything else besides this fancy trailer have been announced. You know that when more information does come out, we will be sure to keep you up to date!

Paramount today released a new trailer for the highly anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness. This one is short but sweet, and offers up plenty of footage that we haven’t seen before.

We’re just over two months away from the film’s release at this point, and it’s certainly getting tougher and tougher to contain our excitement for it here at Geekscape. Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes ‘Star Trek Into Darkness.’ When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Hot off the digital presses, is the newest trailer for the upcoming expansion for the insanely popular RTS, Starcraft II. Titled “Vengeance”, we get a peak at some new narrative for the game.

When the HELL is Blizzard going to just make a straight up film? I MEAN COME ON!

Set to be released on March 12th, players can pre-purchase the game directly from Blizzard HERE. You know I am, and I can expect to see ALL OF YOU online!

After a few teases from Toei, we finally have ourselves some full motion video of the legendary Anime character brought to beautiful CGI life! Come, watch and scream screams of joy in concert!

Slated to be released this year, Space Pirate Captain Harlock is based off the works of LEGENDARY Anime creator Leiji Matsumoto character of the same name. Who is Leiji Matsumoto you ask? Well he has created some of the most amazing works of art to ever be called Anime. Galaxy Express 999, The Captain Harlock Saga, Queen Emeraldas and many more.

You remember those rad Daft Punk music videos for the Discovery Album? You remember the full length movie, Interstella 5555? Yeah same guy.

It is being directed by Shin Aramaki, director of Appleseed Ex Machina! So you know it will be good!

Nothing else has been released but you KNOW I will be keeping you up to date.

This one looks pretty special. Hailed as “One of the most emotional and touching films of this year’s Sundance,” The End of Love tells the heartbreaking story of a single father raising his only son after the death of his wife.

Check out the trailer below. It looks insanely emotional, and isn’t too far from being released! The End of Love will be available on iTunes January 31st, and in theatres on March 1st.

When the mother of his two-year-old son Isaac suddenly passes away, struggling actor Mark (played by writer/director Mark Webber) is forced to grapple with his ability to grow up. As he kindles a relationship with a young single mother (Shannyn Sossamon), he begins to realize that he can no longer remain in denial about the real-life consequences his choices have on Isaac (Isaac Love, Webber’s real-life son). Set against the backdrop of Los Angeles, The End of Love is an intimate and stunningly honest portrait of a young father in transition between the life he’s been working for and the one that’s waiting for him.

As far as red band trailers go (or really, trailers in general), Evil Dead may have won the week, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have room for another restricted romp, this time through old time Germany!

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters hits theatres in just a few weeks, and to show off just how ‘mature’ the film can be, Paramount has released a new red band trailer for the flick. Now, there’s nothing overly red band about this trailer aside from a bit of course language, so there’s no need to warn you like we did before yesterday’s gory, gruesome preview. Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Fifteen years after they were nearly killed by a witch with a gingerbread house, Hansel and Gretel have become bounty hunters who hunt witches.

Mark Wahlberg & Dwayne Johnson, both extra buff and without shirts? This one’s going to break records.

Paramount Pictures has just released the trailer for Michael Bay’s upcoming Pain And Gain. The film follows Daniel Lugo (Wahlberg) and Paul Doyle (Johnson), two bodybuilders who act out a kidnapping before things go terribly wrong.

As mediocre as Michael Bay films can sometimes be, this one actually looks pretty decent. Check out the trailer below and decide for yourself!

Pain And Gain hits theatres on April 26th, 2013!

Back in October we showed you a green band trailer for Magnet Releasing’s upcoming John Dies at the End. The film immediately jumped to the top of my radar, and I’ve been counting down the days until I could see it ever since. That day is fast approaching. John Dies at the End hits VOD in just 9 days (December 27th), and will make its way into theatres on January 25th.

A new red band trailer has just been released for the film, and it’s even better than the last preview! Check it out below, get excited, and start counting down!

Are you a festival goer who’s already seen the film? Let us know what you think! Just don’t spoil the ending.

In JOHN DIES AT THE END, it’s all about the Soy Sauce, a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. Users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John (Rob Mayes) and David (Chase Williamson), a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No.No, they can’t.

Magnet Releasing has just unveiled a new (green band) trailer for their upcoming horror anthology, The ABC’s Of Death. As far as anthologies come, this one is HUGE, and will feature 26 sections (one for each letter of the alphabet), each developed by a different director.

I was pretty excited for the film after seeing the first trailer, and after seeing the new footage in today’s preview, I have to say that I’m actually really looking forward to it (about as much as I can look forward to a horror film)!

Our friend Jon Schnepp was lucky enough to be one of the chosen directors. He was featured on the podcast back in May, where we were happy to hear a few words about the movie.

Check out the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Twenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. The ABCs of Death is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived, with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world’s leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children’s educational books, the motion picture is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death.

Check out the first trailer for Snitch starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson plays a father who, in order to keep his son from going to jail, is forced to work with the feds to take down a drug kingpin. This movie definitely has a good cast and could end up being a fun movie. Or it could end up being one of Johnson’s other not-so-good flicks. We’re going to wait and find out on this one.

Action superstar Dwayne Johnson headlines this fast-paced thriller as a father whose teenage son is wrongly accused of a crime and is sentenced to 10 years in jail.  In order to clear his son’s name, he dangerously goes undercover and risks everything, including his own life, to reduce his son’s sentence.

The ensemble cast includes Academy Awards Winner Susan Sarandon, Emmy Nominee Benjamin Bratt, and Golden Globe Nominee Barry Pepper.

Inspired by a true story, the screenplay was written by Justin Haythe (THE LONE RANGER, REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, THE CLEARING) and adapted by the film’s director Ric Roman Waugh.

Snitch hits theaters February 22, 2013.

Well, this sounds INSANE. In just a couple of months Magnet Releasing will premiere The ABC’s of Death, an ambitious horror anthology featuring work by 26 different directors in 15 different countries. Yes you read that right.

Each director was assigned a different letter of the alphabet (26 letters of course, one for each director) and was free to choose a deadly word to create their horrifying story (which of course, as the title suggests, must revolve around death). One chapter has been developed by Geekscape friend Jon Schnepp, who we featured on the podcast back in May (where he talks about the film)!

I can’t wait to check this one out. It sounds original, extremely ambitious, and will surely be entertaining as hell. The ABC’s of Death hits VOD on January 31, and theatres March 8. What do you think?

Fully Loaded (and I’m not talking Herbie The Love Bug) releases on VOD in just a few days, and after checking out the just released trailer it’s safe to say I’ll be looking further into this one.

An adaptation of the stageplay of the same name, Fully Loaded follows Lisa and Paula, two horny single moms on a quest for fulfillment. They quickly learn that things aren’t as easy as they used to be when they have trouble hooking up, even with random strangers.

It sounds ridiculous. It sounds hilarious. It sounds like (for older, single moms) it could be true! Watch the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Again, Fully Loaded will be available on VOD this Tuesday.

I’d never heard of Warm Bodies before. After checking out the trailer however, I instantly fell in love with it. The movie basically takes the Vampire/Human romance from Twilight and switches the undead party from a Vampire to a Zombie. Warm Bodies also looks to have a ton of action and should be fairly heavy on humor too! Plus the onscreen duo here (even just in the trailer) has exponentially more onscreen chemistry than Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

Watch the trailer for Warm Bodies below, and let us know what you think! The movie is set to hit theatres on February 1, 2013.

When a highly unusual zombie rescues a girl from imminent death at the hands of his cohorts, their unlikely romance sets in motion a chain of events that will transform him, his fellow dead, and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Mass Effect is over. The story is finished, much to the chagrin of many privileged gamers. Well this coming Tuesday isn’t just the day to waste your vote at the polls, it is the day you can pick up the Mass Effect Trilogy! Take a peak at the trailer below!

Some of the feature you get with the Trilogy are:

Over 75 hours of story content, plus Mass Effect 3’s critically acclaimed multiplayer mode.

Create and customize your own character with his or her appearance and skills, then play your Commander Shepard through all three Mass Effect games.

Experience an amazingly rich and detailed universe where your decisions have profound consequences on the action and the outcome.

Build a personalized arsenal with powerful weapons complete with their own upgrades and modifications.

Unleash devastating abilities and skills as you command and train an elite squad.

Take the war online with class-based, co-operative multiplayer in Mass Effect 3.

Check out a brand new Red-Band trailer for the upcoming Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D,  starring Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) and Gemma Arterton (Prince Of Persia).

Fifteen years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident, siblings Hansel and Gretel have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D hits theaters January 25th, 2013.

After a lengthy festival run, us small town folk (and anyone who doesn’t hit festivals) are finally about to experience John Dies At The End. The film will hit VOD in just over a month, and I couldn’t be more excited!

Watch the trailer below, and let us know what you think! This thing looks like it’s going to be something special.

Not sure what the film is about? Have a synopsis:

In JOHN DIES AT THE END, it’s all about the Soy Sauce, a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. Users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. We’ve seen clips and pics from Far Cry 3. We’ve seen the crazy “Definition Of Insanity” trailer from E3. Now, we get a peak at the giant over world.

Lead Designer Jamie Keen and Level Designer Mark Thompson lead us through fourteen minutes of gameplay that shows you how the overworld reacts. Let me just tell you this, it looks VASTLY improved from Far Cry 2.

December 4th is a Far Cry 3 day.

Black Ops is my personal favorite CoD game of the franchise. The narrative they took with the era’s fear of communist nuclear attacks, Vietnamese war travesties and good ole fashioned conspiracy theories (To be fair, MKUltra actually happened, just google it) was some of the best writing in a video game I’ve witnessed in a long time. So you can understand how excited when I heard they would be making another Black Ops game.

Well November 13th is almost here so Activision have released an official launch trailer. Check it out BELOW!

A new trailer for Christopher McQuarrie’s Jack Reacher has been released. The new trailer shows off more of Tom Cruise as the bad-ass Reacher. Some people may not be buying it but I am actually looking forward to seeing Cruise take on something different than he usually does. The film also stars Robert Duvall, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, and David Oyelowo.

When a gunman takes five lives with six shots, all evidence points to the suspect in custody. On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!” So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.

Jack Reacher opens December 21st.

Fucking Nintendo, how does it work? Remarkably well. It looks like they really are listening to the hardcore and will deliver a solid new console. Check out the newest trailer for the survival horror launch title ZombiU. It looks, pretty damn fun!

You can get your hands on a WiiU as well as ZombiU November 18th!

The trailer for Oldboy director Park Chan-wook’s English-language debut Stoker has been released online. It definitely appears that there are going to be some strong performances from the cast in this one. The film stars Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Jackie Weaver, Lucas Till, and Alden Ehrenreich.

After India’s father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother. Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Stoker will be released in theaters March 1st, 2013.

THAT’S RIGHT! The crazy cool game that came flying out of left field gets a nice bloody trailer, AND A RELEASE DATE! Take a peak below.

If you want more info on this fun as hell looking game, check out their official website HERE , which is where you can preorder the game which comes out October 16th!

Whoa. Seriously. Wii U is a fucking Juggernaut! Bitch! With countless AAA titles being announced on launch and a lot of those being M rated and ultra violent, this console doesn’t appear to be stopping. And it hasn’t even started yet!

So now we got some juicy news. The sequel to the hyper stylish Bayonetta will be an exclusive to the newest Nintendo console. Take a peak at the short but flashy trailer below.

Bayonetta 2 does not have a release date yet.

Check out the first trailer for the sequel to the 1974 horror classic! You should know by now that you never go into the basement.

Lionsgate’s “Texas Chainsaw 3D” continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars…

Texas Chainsaw 3D is in theaters January 4, 2013.
