We’re still hours away from the first full look at Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but ABC has been kind enough to release six seconds of footage from tonight’s teaser.

It’s a quick look, but it’s a cool one. Production values look pretty high on the project, and it should be an absolute blast to watch. The show received its series order just a few days ago, and ABC is not wasting any time promoting it.

Watch the footage below, and look for the full teaser later tonight! Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hits ABC this Fall!

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Did anyone seriously think that this wasn’t going to happen?

It looks like Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has received a full season order. THR reports that the announcement will come at some point tomorrow, May 10th. The episode count for the first season has not been revealed, but based on the popularity of any Marvel IP these days, I’m sure that ABC wants to air as many as possible.

UPDATE:

As expected, ABC has just announced that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up for a full season. No premiere date has been set, but the network announced that the show’s marketing will begin on Sunday, May 12th at 8PM, preceding this year’s Once Upon A Time finale. The first image from the series, as well as the logo have also been revealed. Check them out below!

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will feature a pilot directed by Joss Whedon, who will also act as an executive producer on the series. A short teaser for the show appeared on ABC’s official YouTube Channel yesterday (before promptly being removed). I’ve embedded a working version below, so watch it while you can! The footage features a Hulk-like creature destroying a car, and the effects look pretty damn good!

Now that the series is official, how freaking excited are you!?

We haven’t heard much from Disney’s production of Marvel’s Big Hero 6 in quite some time. Today, that silence was broken.

Disney has revealed a first look video that, while revealing nothing from the film, at least gives us a good sense of its art style. The video is short, uncomplicated, and not overly exciting, simply showcasing the San Fransokyo cityscape (and no characters). In any case, it’s nice to know that something is happening with the production, and hopefully we can get a look at some action-packed footage soon!

Watch the footage below, and let us know what you think! Big Hero 6 hits theatres on November 7th, 2014.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Big Hero 6,” an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the CG-animated “Big Hero 6” hits theaters in 3D on November 7, 2014.

It was completely understandable to not be excited for High Moon Studios Deadpool. After all, movie, superhero, and licensed games in general are almost always terrible. The game is also barely a month away from release, and we haven’t seen a single snippet of gameplay.

Until now, that is. Rev3Games was lucky enough to play Deadpool and upload the footage online. Surprisingly, the game looks really, really good. The footage features a ton of new content, and definitely gives us a good sense of the game’s style.

Watch the gameplay footage below, and let us know what you think! Deadpool hits PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on June 25th!

Styled similarly to the awesome teaser poster from late last year, James Mangold today unveiled (via twitter) a new one sheet for The Wolverine, this time focussing on the Silver Samurai.

I loved this style of poster last year, and I love it just the same today. Check out the image below, and let us know what you think! The Wolverine hits theatres on July 26th!

This week on the show we’ve got Adrian Askarieh, producer of the film versions of ‘Hitman’ and the upcoming ‘Deus Ex’! We’ll talk about returning to the Hitman franchise, what it takes to make a solid adaptation and whether or not the future of Hollywood lies in video game properties! We’ll also discuss ‘Iron Man 3’ and what films this summer look to be the biggest at the Box Office! Ian Kerner also calls in to opine the destruction (or lack thereof of Krypton! Plus, are comic book adaptations drying up the source material and how is the landscape of Hollywood becoming more homogenized? PLUS! I revisit memories from my earliest days in broadcasting!

In this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, there’s quite a bit of coverage for Marvel’s upcoming “Phase Two” films. Earlier today we saw some new details and concept art for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and now we have some new concept from James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. If you know Peter Quill’s backstory, you know definitely know what scene this is. If you don’t know the backstory, you should probably go pick up a copy of Guardians Of The Galaxy #0.1 and get caught up. Kevin Fiege talked about the highly-anticipated release, which included confirmation that actress Zoe Saldana has signed on as the film’s female lead:

GOTG-concept-1

“Guardians takes place within the continuity of the [other movies] but it’s on the other side of the universe. We’ve always wanted to do a space movie. I’m obsessed with Star Wars, I’m obsessed with Star Trek.”

“It’s a huge story on a massive canvas,” Feige says. “We can take it to all those crazy places as long as all the characters respond in an emotionally truthful way. That’s why I believe people are going to respond to Chris Pratt and to an alien Zoë Saldana—because they did respond to that one time before [with Avatar]. And to a tree and a raccoon who, it is certainly our intention, will steal the whole movie.”

Director Josh Trank may be looking re-unite with Chronicle star Michael B. Jordan for his upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Website The Wrap reports that the actor may be in talks to play the role of Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch in the film. While 20th Century Fox has declined to comment on this news, “numerous individuals” close to the production have reportedly told the site that the actor has had multiple meetings with the studio and has a good relationship with the director from their work on Chronicle.

Of course there’s going to be an issue with fans regarding the actors skin color, but wouldn’t you rather have talent in a role rather than worry about the character being “white in the comics”? This isn’t official casting news and is most likely just an option that Fox are considering at the moment but Jordan is actually an excellent actor that could bring an fresh and interesting new spin on the character. Production is set to begin on the film in a few months, so we should expect some official casting news to get revealed very soon.

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, Marvel’s Kevin Fiege dropped some new details regarding the highly-anticipated Russ Brothers’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier as well as revealing some brand new concept art for the filme. Fiege told the magazine:

wintere

“We weren’t going back to World War II. Cap cannot travel in time. So while Tony can go home to Malibu and Thor goes up to Asgard and Hulk can sort of ride the rails, Cap was stuck. So Cap does stay with S.H.I.E.L.D. because he has nowhere else to go. But he’s not necessarily comfortable there. And just as he’s given permission to let go of the past and to focus on the modern world, a ghost comes up. With the Greatest Generation in World World II, there’s a tendency to reflect on that period and say, ‘Things were black and white back then, and now it’s hard to know who the bad guys are.’ ‘We wanted to play on that a little with Cap being uncomfortable with the way S.H.I.E.L.D., and in particular Nick Fury, operates.”

Worried that with his contract coming to an end it would mean that Robert Downey Jr. would be hanging up his helmet? It’s definitely going to be hard to see any other actor fill the role after he finally does but don’t worry just yet. RDJ appeared on The Daily Show and revealed to the audience that he is currently renegotiating his contract at the moment with Marvel which means we may see a few more outings with him as the armored avenger in the future. Check out the interview below as well as a short clip from the film.

Remember last week when Joss Whedon hinted at two new characters (“a brother/sister act”) that would be appearing in the upcoming sequel to The Avengers? Well, Entertainment Weekly report that their upcoming issue will feature an extensive look at Marvel Studios upcoming “Phase Two” films as well as going on to confirm what many had earlier speculated:

Ultimate Comics X-Men 7

“Some online rumors turn out to be true, however. A source confirms to EW that the twin characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be joining The Avengers 2, which Whedon hinted at recently when he said he was writing a brother-sister duo into the movie. Feige maintains a poker face on that scoop, saying only: “I’m not confirming or denying. The draft could change six months from now.”

The rights to these two characters were revealed awhile back to be up to whichever studio used theme first between Marvel and Fox and it appears Marvel got to them first. Will they be mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or have the origins of their powers altered a bit for the film universe? We’re going to have to wait and find out but this is definitely very exciting news.

Production is underway on Bryan Singer’s highly-anticipated X-Men: Days Of Future Past and the director continues to tease fans via Twitter. The latest tease comes in the form of a back shot of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine wearing a leather jacket that looks quite like the one from the classic comic storyline.

Production is set to begin in June on Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four, but we’ve yet to hear about any casting news for the 20th Century Fox film. However, we now have the first news regarding someone being up for a role in the film. Deadline reports that Girls star Allison Williams is on a short list for the upcoming reboot of Marvel’s first family.

“I’ve heard Williams is also on the short for the Fantastic Four reboot, which is in the very early talking stage.”

While the site doesn’t specify what role the actress is up for, it is more than likely that she is being considered for the role of Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. This doesn’t mean she is in negotiations for the role, just that she is currently being considered. If production is really set to begin in June, we should expect to start hearing some solid casting news regarding the project very soon.

Remember when Dan Slott tricked fans into believing that The Superior Spider-Man was actually going to be the fan-favorite Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099? The writer later revealed that he did actually have plans for the character and at C2E2, Marvel unveiled a couple of covers for Superior Spider-Man, one revealing the return of Spider-Man 2099.

The character will be making his return to the Marvel Universe in Superior Spider-Man #17, where he will be teaming up with Spidey, from Dan Slott and Ryan Stegman this September. Time to party like it’s 2099.

Almost 20 years ago, one of the most notorious comic book films of all time was produced: Roger Corman’s ‘The Fantastic Four’! For most of its existence, this unreleased gem, which fans either loved or bemoaned, was only available through bootleg fan copies at comic book conventions. A VHS or DVD copy was the Holy Grail of Geekdom! Now, on the eve of production on the documentary ‘Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s “Fantastic Four” Movie’, original cast members Rebecca Staab, Joseph Culp, Carl Ciarfalio and documentary producer Mark Sikes (who was a casting assistant on the film) talk about what it was like making the film, being in the film and looking back 20 years later! Geekscapist Satori claims “This is a really great ep, probably my favorite since you’ve been on Toadhop.” and “This is BRILLIANT!!!!” Who are we to argue with a longtime Geekscapist? Enjoy!

Actress Hayley Atwell, who portrayed Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, recently made a semi-cryptic statement in an interview that seemingly implied that a new Marvel: One-Shot starring the character was on the way. At the Iron Man 3 red carpet premiere last night, Marvel Studios co-President Louis D’Esposito has confirmed the rumors of, stating that he had just directed a brand new One-Shot that would focus on a strong female character.

This new short will make its debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Last year D’Esposito’s previous One-Shot Item 47 debuted off site for a select group (that I was lucky enough to be among) through viral marketing, so you may want to keep your eyes out while walking around the area. Atwell will also reprise the role for next year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Keep an eye for more updates to pop up over the new few months.

While attending the Hollywood red carpet premiere of Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, Yahoo Movies caught up with Joss Whedon and a took a few minutes to discuss the highly-anticipated 2015 sequel to The Avengers.

“I have actually finished a draft, we’re in a very good place. It’s going really well, eventually somebody will explain to me that it’s not. But I’ve been writing, meeting with actors, and we’re starting to storyboard and all the preliminary processes. This is the part where it’s all still fun. It’s an evolution, and that goes on all through shooting and it never stops. I’ve done enough shows and movies to be comfortable with that. You do come to a point where we all agree …‘Oh, I’ve got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic books; a brother/sister act. They’re in the movie, that’s exciting.’ You lock certain things in. But then there’s a certain fluidity when you’re working with Robert [Downey Jr.]. He’s going to want to do something new on the day, and you’re going to want him to, because it’s going to be funny. So you always keep yourself open. I try not to think of it as topping The Avengers, I try to think of this as its own movie.”

“And by the way, Shane [Black] not helping! Iron Man 3 not helping! I see this and said, ‘Aw, man, he really got it right!’ The pressure continues! When Tony sees another superhero, he increases his swagger. Tony, he sees Thor, and he says, ‘Yeah, I got a suit of muscles that big. I invented it! Oh, you can pick up a hammer? You’re so special!’ He sees it as a challenge! He loves it.”

The most interesting point of this conversation was the two new character additions that Whedon mentioned. If he’s talking about actual siblings, could we see the inclusion of Wanda & Pietro Maximoff, better known as Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver? It’s already been revealed that their rights are up in the air and whichever studio, Fox or Marvel, uses them first gets first dibs. However, there are a handful of other characters that this could be implying as well. Ah, the many possibilities!

Director Marc Webb has posted his latest Twitter tease from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and it appears be some form of Oscorp diagram from someone or something called “Patient Zero”. Could this be the original spider that Richard Parker experimented on or something completely different? Could “Patient Zero” actually be Peter?

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Marvel Studios and director James Gunn are currently in full swing putting together the cast of Guardians Of The Galaxy. Just yesterday it was revealed that Ophelia Lovibond had joined the film’s cast and now it’s been revealed that actor Lee Pace, who was actually up for the lead role of Peter Quill at one point, has entered into final negotiations to play the villain in the upcoming Phase Two film.

There’s currently no word at the moment which cosmic character Pace will be playing but speculation has already begun that he could be playing the character Korvac in the upcoming space-epic. We should begin to learn more as we near production starting this June.

A big space epic featuring an unlikely cast of Marvel characters, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot and Rocket Raccoon, who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions.
