Briefly: We’re just a few months away from the release of José Padilha’s anticipated Robocop remake, and Digital Spy has tracked down six new images from the film.

The stills include a new look at Murphy’s motorcycle, Michael Keaton looking’ evil, and a lot of weaponry. Take a look at everything below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to this one! Robocop hits theatres on February 12th!

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Briefly: The gang’s all here.

Lionsgate today debuted the very first teaser trailer for next year’s The Expendables 3. The teaser reveals nothing about the film aside from its stellar, gigantic (physically and in numbers) cast, but it’s still freaking bad-ass.

Harrison Ford, of course, has joined the crew, and so have a few other new faces (and plenty of returning old dudes). Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! The Expendables 3 hits theatres on August 15th, 2014!

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

Briefly: Seven new stills for Transformers: Age of Extinction have made their way online. The images don’t feature a lot of robots, but do feature a lot of good-looking people being good-looking.

Are you looking forward to the film? I haven’t see a Transformers movie since the original (no, not the good original, the live-action one), and as such I can’t say I’m looking forward to this one. In any case, take a look at the stills below, and let us know what you think! Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theatres on June 27th, 2014!

Briefly: TWO Jean Claude Van Damme trailers in one week? What kind of heaven are we in?

Earlier this week we saw the first trailer for Welcome to the Jungle, the comedy that features the actor in a hilarious-looking survivalist role. Now it’s time for Enemies Closer. You saw the first poster for this one last week, and now (as mentioned above), it’s trailer time:

The movie also stars Tom Everett Scott and our pal Orlando Jones, and hits theatres (and VOD) on January 24th. Are you looking forward to this one? It looks like a lot of fun, right?

After a major shipment of drugs goes missing on the US-Canadian border, forest ranger and former Navy SEAL Henry is plunged into survival mode when the drug cartel forces him to help retrieve the downed package. Trapped in the wilderness with no communication to the outside world, Henry finds himself face to face with Clay, a man with a personal vendetta against Henry who has returned for retribution. Now, the two mortal enemies must make a choice: put aside their past and work together, or die alone at the hands of the drug runners, a ruthless gang who will stop at nothing to retrieve their lost cargo.

Briefly: A new international trailer for next year’s Robocop has just debuted online.

The video delves deeper into the journey of Alex Murphy, and features plenty of footage that we haven’t seen yet. The remake stars The Killing lead Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, who is, well, a cop that is fatally injured and is then turned into a robot.

Are you looking forward to the remake? Or could this be another Total Recall in disguise? Take a look at the newest trailer below, and let us know what you think! Robocop hits theatres on February 12th!

The remake stars The Killing lead Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, who is, well, a cop who is fatally injured and is then turned into a robot.

I wasn’t really expecting too much from this remake, but seeing that first trailer definitely raised my hope for the picture. I have to say that this second preview has raised it even further! I didn’t think a new Robocop could be cool, but Joel Kinnaman certainly looks bad-ass in the role. Then again, the new Total Recall looked pretty fantastic too… and we all know how that one turned out (bad).

Take a look at the new media below, and be sure to share your thoughts on the upcoming remake! Robocop hits theatres on February 12th!

Briefly: We know the official title (though still no plot details), we’ve seen plenty of fancy cars, and now we have our first official image of some of Transformers: Age of Extinction‘s human cast!

Michael Bay himself debuted the photo earlier today, which depicts Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor on the set of the highly anticipated film.

As I’ve said before, I hated the first Transformers, and haven’t seen either Revenge of the Fallen or Dark of the MoonAge of Extinction, however, looks to be shaping up pretty nicely. With a cast including Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, and Kelsey Grammar among others, this one may be hard for me to avoid!

When you put a movie in and the film stars Dolph Lundgren (Expendables, Universal Soldier) and Billy Zane (Titanic, The Phantom), your expectations are likely low. With that in mind, Blood of Redemption was worth watching.

The plot is simple. Lundgren plays the bodyguard of a mob boss whose sons (played by Zane and Gianni Capaldi) mean the world to him – enough so that he wants out of the business and for the two of them to live normal lives. After his murder and the subsequent arrest of his older son, Lundgren has to figure out who killed the boss and framed his son for identity theft.

As with almost any action film, the fighting scenes were well done. The only negative would have to be the random scenes that were sped up or slowed down: it seemed almost like some of the actors were getting a bit old for the fight scenes, so the editor tried using speed changes to make it a bit more exciting. Blood of Redemption‘s soundtrack was so bad that it was almost distracting. Some of the chase scenes weren’t exactly exciting either. But that all sounds so negative: it was still a fun, guilty pleasure viewing.

stars

Lundgren’s character narrates the film, which definitely gives a lot away. While it seemed the director wanted the audience to be surprised at some of the later revelations of the film (who orchestrated the whole thing, major characters dying just when you think they’re safe) it was a a bit predictable. And some of the ideas (and even some word-for-word lines) were obviously stolen from The Godfather.

One of the better points of the film was the sexy Jelly Howie (Reach, Compound Fracture), who played Zane’s wife and co-conspirer. She gave the movie a little of the hot edge that every action film needs.

Another bright spot was actor Vinnie Jones (Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) as the man who takes over for the family as it falls. He’s always fun to watch, and while he didn’t have many action sequences, his acting was decent enough to make him believable in the role.

Overall, I think the main reason I thought this film was fun was that you don’t watch a film like this expecting Oscar-winning performances or comical one-liners. It’s about sitting down and watching a guilty-pleasure action film. And with that in mind, Blood of Redemption delivers.

I would rate it a 3 out of 5.

Blood of Redemption is out now and available on Amazon.

Briefly: Vin Diesel has again taken to Facebook to show off some set photos of his latest film.

Today, that film is Fast & Furious 7, and the shared photo gives us our first look at Kurt Russell in the flick.

Diesel states that Russell is “such an honor to work with”. Take a look at the photo below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the movie! The James Wan directed Fast & Furious 7 hits theatres on July 11th, 2014!

Briefly: Following the impressive first trailer released last weeek, Columbia Pictures has just debuted a slick new poster for José Padilha’s Robocop remake.

It’s the same black suit that we saw in the trailer, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look gorgeously contrasted on that white background. Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think!

I wasn’t really expecting too much from this remake, but seeing the first trailer definitely raises my hope for the picture. I didn’t think a new Robocop could be cool (it is 2013, after all), but Joel Kinnaman looks bad-ass in the role. Then again, the new Total Recall looked pretty fantastic too… and we all know how that one turned out (bad).

Briefly: Just one day after Sony announced a new, slimmer Playstation Vita, the console has lost one of its most praised exclusives.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation is coming to consoles (and PC). This release, of course, will come without the consistent technical issues and low resolution of the original portable version. The game will feature 15 new missions, and a welcome lack of crappy touchscreen controls.

Also announced was Assassin’s Creed Pirates, a new, mobile only title that lets players “explore the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy as Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain. Manage your crew, upgrade your ship, recruit new crew members and engage in massive real-time naval battles to become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean. Along the way, players will cross paths with Assassins and Templars, as well as famous historical figures including Blackbeard, Bellamy, and Hornigold.”

Details on both games are still scarce, but we’ll be sure to fill you in when we learn more. Did you play Liberation the first time around? What did you think?

Briefly: Just yesterday, Columbia Pictures surprised us all with a pretty impressive first trailer for José Padilha’s Robocop remake.

Today, the studio has released a new batch of stills for the film, giving us a much better look at Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, Samuel Jackson as Pat Novak, Michael Keaton as Raymond Sellars, as well as new shots of both the grey and black Robocop suits from the film.

So far, Robocop looks like it’s coming together pretty nicely, don’t you think? Take a look at the new stills below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! Robocop hits theatres on February 7th!

Briefly: Well, I wasn’t expecting to see this today.

Columbia Pictures has just released the first trailer for the highly anticipated remake of 1987’s Robocop. The remake stars The Killing lead Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, who is, well, a cop who is fatally injured and is then turned into a robot.

Briefly: I’ve never played Monster Hunter before, but I know just how insanely excited fans get at every new title. My 3DS is hankering for a new title, should the latest Monster Hunter be it?

Capcom has debuted a Japanese trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter 4, featuring our first look at many locales, characters, and of course, monsters that we’re bound to meet in the game.

Monster Hunter 4 hits Japan on September 14th. A North American release date has not been set, so until then, take a look at the trailer below, and hope that Capcom has a heart.

Briefly: Universal Pictures today debuted the first trailer for Peter Berg’s Lone Survivor.

The film, based on the book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 tells the story of a failed 2005 mission, where the team was set to capture and kill a prominent member of the Taliban.

The film spotlights a pretty stellar cast, including Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Ludwig, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, Eric Bana, and plenty of others. Take a look at the film’s first trailer below, and let us know what you think! Lone Survivor hits theatres on December 27th!

It’s been rumoured for some time, but it just became official: a newproper Ratchet and Clank title is in the works over at Insomniac.

Titled Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus, the PS3 exclusive will retail for $29.99, and hit stores (and PSN) this holiday season. Into the Nexus is a single player return to form for Ratchet and Clank, which should be very welcome after the last few (mediocre) multiplayer offerings.

Take a look at the game’s first trailer below, and let us know how excited you are to return to the world of Ratchet and Clank! I wonder if the PS4 will release before this game hits shelves?

Not a fan of wordy reviews or slight spoilers? Here’s a quick take: Ballistic ranks among the best premiere issues that I have read in a long time. The book is violent, irreverent, and completely absurd, and I can’t recall the last time I’ve experienced such a fantastic mixture of those three things.

Years in the makingBallistic‘s infectious, humorous script comes from writer Adam Egypt Mortimer, while the superbly detailed, oft-disturbing artwork (right from the very first panel) has been created by HAPPY! and Transmetropolitan alum Darick Robertson.

Ballistic-001_001_large-800x1214

Ballistic‘s memorable opening begins with a unique issue: bad dudes have bad things to do, and it’s too freaking hot. Naturally they call in Butch: an HVAC repair man with dreams of becoming a criminal, whose best (and possibly only) friend is his talking, living gun. The dialogue shared between Butch and his firearm are some of the standout pages of the book; they speak as though they’re best friends, they act as though they simply couldn’t function without each other, and this relationship takes Ballistic to a completely new level.

That gun isn’t the only typically inanimate object that’s alive in Ballistic… every piece of technology is. This leads to some original problems (and solutions) throughout the course of the book, and gives Robertson’s artwork a very particular and distinguished feel. From pulling an optic nerve from an A/C unit, to a building with spines instead of pillars, all the way to an attempted bank robbery (which fails because the gun can’t fire due to having an overage of drugs in its system), Ballistic‘s slick writing and phenomenal art are both to be celebrated.

Ballistic-001_002_large-800x1214

Ballistic is set to hit shelves tomorrow (Wednesday, July 10th). The five issue miniseries began with a bang (in the biggest sense of the word), and I’m unbelievably excited to learn what comes next. If you can pick up one comic this week, make it this one! Ballistic scores a clear 5/5; this book is bound to sell out fast, so you may find it advantageous to call your LCS and add Ballistic to your pull list.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, Ballistic writer Adam Egypt Mortimer will appear at Meltdown Comics tomorrow (July 10th) at 7:30PM for a signing. It’s a great opportunity to meet one of the creators of one of the best new miniseries’ of 2013. I wish I could be there, but unfortunately, I don’t fly down for a few more days!

If everything went according to plan, we’d be just a few weeks away from the theatrical release of 300: Rise of an Empire. That’s not the way that things always work out, however, and instead we’ll be waiting until March of next year.

Warner Bros. has just released the anticipated first trailer for Rise of an Empire, following a cool new teaser poster released yesterday. The trailer showcases the same stylish look and feel of the first film, but of course, the stunning cast from 300 is nowhere to be found (well, besides David Welham as Dilios).

I’m reserving judgement on this one for now, as it seems like it’s been stuck in development hell for years, but based on my love for the first film alone (plus, the trailer does look pretty cool), I can’t wait to line up for this one. Take a look at the new poster and trailer below, and let us know what you think! 300: Rise of an Empire released March 7th, 2014.

Here’s the poster:

300New

And the film’s first trailer:

“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

This looks bad ass.

Summit Entertainment has just released a new poster for Escape Plan, the new action-thriller that features both Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger… need I say more? We haven’t seen a trailer for this one yet, but I’m guessing we’re going to get seriously nostalgic when Escape Plan releases.

The film, originally slated for release this September, has been pushed back to October 18th. This means we’ve got just four months to wait for the feature, which will surely be worth the price of admission.

Check out the new poster below, and let us know if you’re excited!

Action superstars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up in the action-thriller ESCAPE PLAN.  Ray Breslin (Stallone), the world’s foremost authority on structural security, agrees to take on one last job: breaking out of an ultra-secret, high-tech facility called “The Tomb.”  But when he is wrongly imprisoned, he must recruit fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger) to help devise a daring, nearly impossible plan to escape from the most protected and fortified prison ever built.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen anything new come from Pacific Rim. Today, Warner Bros. released the film’s first TV spot. This movie is going to be insane; hyper-realistic robots fighting hyper-realistic monsters on a scale that we can’t even fathom. I can’t wait to get in line for this one!

Watch the spot below, and let us know what you think! Pacific Rim hits theatres on July 12th!

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

It seems as though a bunch of swearing is all it takes to turn a trailer red band these days. A new preview has just been released for The Last Stand, which is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first leading role since Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines back in 2003.

The film certainly looks like a fun ride, but since the release of the red band trailer for Evil Dead last week, every trailer that starts with that red warning just feels so… tame.

In any case, check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think! The Last Stand shoots its way into theatres on January 18th.

Okay, I guess a guy did get blown up…

A brand new full-length trailer for Kim Jee-Woon’s The Last Stand starring Arnold Scwarzennger has been released. This new trailer definitely seems quite a bit lighter than the last trailer and the film actually looks like a lot of fun. Oh, and keep an eye for a certain sword making an appearance towards the end of the trailer.

Action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his much-anticipated return to the big screen in Korean director Kim Jee-woon’s hard-hitting US directorial debut, THE LAST STAND. After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow.

The Last Stand hits theaters January 18, 2013.

I’m pretty sure all of us over at Geekscape are fans of the action packed The Expendables films. Well, minus one person who I shall not name. The movies bring together some of the best actors in the action genre and offer a tongue in cheek nod to the genre which ruled the box office of many of our childhood and teenage years.

A short while ago it was rumored that Nicolas Cage, Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford were all on Sylvester Stallone’s radar to be a part of the third outing for The Expendables. Well, today on Facebook, Stallone issued the following statement about the planned third installment, confirming that work is moving ahead on the sequel, a reply to the critics of the films and also confirming one of the new names involved.

We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I can not guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing ‘The Expendables’. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want.

Are you ready for another action-packed outing for Barney Ross and his team? I know that I definitely am.

Check out a brand new teaser trailer for A Good Day To Die Hard. The trailer introduces us to John McLane’s son, Jack. Details regarding the plot are still a bit scarce but the trailer does confirm that John will be heading to Moscow to help his son out of a bit of a spot. And of course that includes a lot of people getting killed and plenty of property damage. Like father…like son?

A Good Day To Die Hard hits theaters February 14, 2013.

A new red-band trailer has been released for writer/director John Hyams’ Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning. So, I’m not just saying this because I am a huge fan of Scott Adkins and Jean-Claude Van Damme…but this movie looks brutally insane and some of us here at Geekscape definitely can’t wait to see it. The last Universal Soldier was tons of action-packed fun and I have high hopes for this one as well.

Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins, Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski and Dolph Lundgren star in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING, which ups the ante in the UNIVERSAL SOLDIER series, giving you more hard-hitting, bloody, no-holds-barred fighting action. John (Adkins, The Expendables 2) wakes up from a coma after his wife and daughter were slaughtered in a brutal home invasion. Haunted by images of the attack, he vows to kill the man responsible, Luc Deveraux (Van Damme). While John tries to piece his reality back together, things get more complicated when he is pursued by a relentless UniSol (Arlovski). As John gets closer to Deveraux and the rouge army of genetically enhanced warriors led by back-from-the-dead leader Andrew Scott (Lundgren), John discovers more about himself and begins to call into question everything he believed to be true.

Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning is available On Demand starting October 25th with a theatrical release on November 30th!
