It appears the rumor that Tim Burton is involved in a Beetlejuice sequel has turned out to be true. According to TheWrap, Burton is officially in talks to direct Beetlejuice 2 for Warner Brothers.

It is assumed that Michael Keaton will once again take on the role of the wise-cracking “ghost with the most.”

Although the movie being discussed, it most likely won’t be out for a while. Both Burton and Keaton are working on projects, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Burton has not yet read the latest draft of the script. Still, the talks are promising!

While a lot of time has passed since the original 1988 movie was released, I have high hopes that the sequel it can live up to its predecessor and become another Halloween classic. With Keaton being involved in some highly anticipated upcoming movies (Robocop, Toy Story 4, Need for Speed…) and Burton just coming down from a recent Oscar nomination for the 2012 movie Frankenweenie, Beetlejuice 2 will be must see, at least for me!

What do you think of the news? Are you excited for a Beetlejuice sequel?

Beetlejuice

Briefly: Well this was unexpected.

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs is currently one of the most anticipated titles of 2013, and is certainly one of the most promising next-generation launch games (I know I’ll be picking up a copy with my PS4). Today at Gamescom, Ubisoft announced that it’s collaborating with Sony Pictures and Regency Entertainment on a film adaptation of the highly anticipated game.

It seems like both Ubisoft and Sony are confident that Watch Dogs is going to be huge… like Assassin’s Creed huge.

Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer of Ubisoft Motion Pictures says that “Sony Pictures and New Regency are ideal partners for us. Their deep production expertise and willingness to allow us to maintain a strong creative voice in the film means that we’re on track to deliver a movie that can build upon the excitement that Watch Dogs already is generating as a game.”

No further information about the film was revealed. I’m beyond excited to pick up the game, so you can be sure that we’ll update you on the adaptation as we learn more.

Does it seem crazy to anyone else that they’ve already announced a film adaptation, months before the franchise’s first game?

Ever since it was announced that Netflix was developing a fourth season of the critically acclaimed series Arrested Development, fans everywhere have been eagerly awaiting its return. With the season launch just around the corner, Netflix has released the first trailer for us geeks to get our grubby little paws on.

Get your Cornballer ready; you can watch all 15 episodes starting May 26th. For now, watch the trailer below and let us know what you think!

“Many fantastic scripts are never made into movies because they don’t have “legs.”  Movies are a package deal: which famous actor is attached?  Is this a remake with a cult following?” explains film producer Daryl Freimark, co-producer of the movie musical Hairspray starring John Travolta, Queen Latifah and Zac Efron.  Film Producer Michel Shamberg agreed in his recent interview in TheWrap. “Years ago, you would just go in with a good idea.  Now you effectively have to have a business plan.”

After eight years at New Line Cinema, Freimark was strongly positioned on a coveted path to successful producer with the Hobbit-harvesting empire. Some may say it was a surprise when he chose to leave New Line in favor of overseeing his own projects. But Freimark, who only takes the most well thought out risks, knew what he was doing as, since that time, he has produced three feature films, five shorts, a music video, premiered at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival, produced a Stanley Tucci movie and recently launched a four-part comic book series based off a screenplay.

Dreary
Key art for ‘The Devil Is Due In Dreary’ #1

“I’ve read…thousands of scripts,” Freimark reflected.  “When I read the screenplay for The Devil Is Due In Dreary, as a reader for the IFP Emerging Narratives for IFP Film Week in 2008, I could unquestionably see the movie and instantly became passionate about producing it.”

The Devil is Due in Dreary is a Rockabilly take on Western thrillers about the small town of Dreary. The townspeople live in fear of a prophecy that one day, when two outlaws pass through town, the devil will follow. When two strangers’ car breaks down in this distressed community, the townsfolk believe the dreaded day has arrived, and we quickly learn, not everyone is who they seem.

“I spent a lot of time in the American Southwest,” screenwriter David Parkin shares as his inspiration for the script. “I heard tales of the devil and other folklore around many campfires. This, The Devil, is my chilling tale to share.”

Freimark and Parkin set to the nearly impossible task of giving the script its “legs.”  They did not have a fancy director, famous starlet, or spare million dollars. How could they create a fan base?  How could they get the page to pop?

Instead of going with the traditional Script – to Short film – to hopefully-full-length-film approach of planting a movie seed, the duo came up with the unique idea of making the screenplay into a comic first.  This method produced numerous advantages that making a short film could not.  “Comics are automatic, vibrant, storyboarding, for studios and investors to see what Dreary will look like. It also gives us a chance to discover what parts of the screenplay need re-writing.  And, it creates a fan base.”

The only downside? “I knew nothing about comics,” admits Freimark who ventured into the challenging world of caped crusaders and word bubbles. “You can’t just have one guy draw everything and you’re done. You have to find the perfect penciller, (Allan Jefferson of War Machine and Predator vs Alien), Inker (Jonas Trindade), Colorist, (Diego Tapie and Rainer Petter) and Letterer (Richard Emms and Frank Barbiere).”  All had to fit Freimark and Parkin’s minds-eye and mesh together seamlessly to create a unified product. Not to mention, Parkin was writing his first comic script ever!

Freimark hired the team, who began putting the comic on paper.  From there he turned to a producer’s best friend, www.kickstarter.com, to display sample work from Issue 1 in order to raise enough to pay the artists,  offering up tempting incentives such as being drawn into the comic as a character.

With their first issue complete, Freimark and publisher Ardden Entertainment set about the challenging step of getting Dreary in comic book window displays. “Comic ordering is still done pretty old school. Once a month, a thick, phone book like, catalog, filled with new issues of comics from Batman to new indies like ours, is sent to all the comic book stores who then place orders.  It’s nerve racking.  Would anyone take a chance on an unknown comic?  We actually got good order numbers for our first issue and a few months later… BOOM we were in stores throughout the US!  It’s a comic Cinderella story.”  Freimark pauses, reliving the tense journey.  “It was a scramble to fund and complete issues two through four, which completes the series. All issues are now available!  As for the movie, we hope to be in production next fall.”

This one looks to be shaping up nicely.

Just moments ago, Comingsoon revealed the latest star to sign on to Matt Reeves’ upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It’s none other than the Oscar nominated, highly versatile Gary Oldman, whose character will lead a human colony in the film.

Oldman will join Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Cody Smit-McPhee, and others in the sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The sequel is set 15 years after the ape-invasion portrayed in the first film.

Gary-Oldman-001

Are you excited about the news? What did you think of the first film? Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theatres on May 23rd, 2014.

This is some freaking exciting news.

One of my favourite games last year was Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Square-Enix developed an insanely awesome FPS-RPG that turned out to be one of the best shooters in recent memory. It also made me completely forget the mediocre mess that was Deus Ex: Invisible War.

CBS Films announced today that they’re developing a movie based on Human Revolution. Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will write and direct the film, with Roy Lee, Adrian Askarieh, and John P. Middleton producing. While the Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the third game in the series, the title will serve as the template for this first movie. The game won over 100 industry awards last year, so let’s hope the film doesn’t follow the typical video game movie trend.

What do you think of the news? Excited? Who would you like to see in the role of Adam?

Fully Loaded (and I’m not talking Herbie The Love Bug) releases on VOD in just a few days, and after checking out the just released trailer it’s safe to say I’ll be looking further into this one.

An adaptation of the stageplay of the same name, Fully Loaded follows Lisa and Paula, two horny single moms on a quest for fulfillment. They quickly learn that things aren’t as easy as they used to be when they have trouble hooking up, even with random strangers.

It sounds ridiculous. It sounds hilarious. It sounds like (for older, single moms) it could be true! Watch the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Again, Fully Loaded will be available on VOD this Tuesday.

As you may or may not know, I’m somewhat of a Silent Hill fiend. I’ve been a huge fan of the troubled series since the first game launched in 1999, and for some reason had been really looking forward to the sequel to Christophe Gans’ first Silent Hill film.

I was so excited for the film (and heard that others were too) that I prepared a retrospective on the entire series to prepare for the now released sequel. I’d definitely give it a read if you have any interest in the iconic series of games.

Before delving into Revelation, let me be absolutely blunt. This movie was fucking awful. It was an experience that my better half didn’t want to be a part of in the first place, and you can be assured that it was an extremely silent walk to the car afterwards. Whether you’re a fan of Silent Hill or horror in general, do anything but see Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. In fact, instead of seeing this piece of crap, why not use your $10 for a certain kickstarter campaign instead?

If you have any self control, you’ll avoid this horrible fate.

If you’re at all familiar with the series, Revelation is a loose adaptation of 2003’s Silent Hill 3. The film tries to tie itself nicely into the end of the 2006 movie: Heather is a grown up version of Sharon from the first film. She somehow escaped the otherworld that her and her mother were trapped in at the end of Silent Hill, and Heather and her father Christopher have been on the run from the cult ever since. Heather conveniently has no memory from her first journey to the cursed town, but has recurring haunted dreams of the horrors within. Her dad gets himself kidnapped, and she heads to the town to save him, which of course is exactly what the cult members want.

She looks like she wants to shoot herself. Must have read the script.

The above paragraph may not make much sense, but is really the best description of the Revelation that I could come up with. The (sparse) plot is convoluted as hell at the best of times, and completely incomprehensible at the worst. Much of the time, things literally don’t make any sense whatsoever. The most terrifying part of the movie is the fact that this script somehow made it to screen: it should have been burned or thrown in the Mariana Trench at the treatment phrase. Things also don’t fully make sense in relation to the first film either. One example: Alessa killed everyone in the town at the end of Silent Hill, yet somehow in the sequel, every one of them is still there.

As I sit here trying to think of a saving grace, of something that for hardcore fans may make it worth the price of a matinee ticket, I realize that there simply isn’t one. I did not enjoy a single frame of this film. Not one frame was worth the money that it cost to make. Even Akira Yamaoka’s haunting score felt out of place in such an abysmal offering, and most of the time was overshadowed by the technical grunge of Jeff Danna.

Creature design is on a similar level to those in Silent Hill: Downpour: atrocious. Sure it was cool to see the series’ regular nurses again, and Pyramid Head looked decent enough, but anything that was created specifically for the film (the mannequin spider comes to mind) looked laughably bad. The creatures in the Silent Hill universe are supposed to make you uncomfortable and absolutely disgusted just as much as they’re supposed to scare you. The ones in Revelation were hilarious.

It looks even sillier in motion.

The CG effects in the movie however, really did bring me back to Silent Hill 3. Not because they were thematically similar or had anything to do with the game, but because they were about the same quality as you’d see in a PS2 title. Even things as simple as smoke looked like they were straight out of the 90’s. While comparing to the PS2 titles, most of the performances in the film (including that of series’ newcomer Malcolm McDowell) were about as forced and stunted as James’ in Silent Hill 2 (for those that haven’t played, that means awful).

Are you getting the picture? Silent Hill: Revelation is bad. It’s the worst movie that I’ve seen this year (by far beating out The Apparition from a couple months ago). I reiterate, do anything but see this film. Fairly quickly into Silent Hill: Revelation is a warning: “Do Not Go To Silent Hill”. In closing, I can only repeat this phrase, as it’s the best advice the movie can offer.

And with that goes another nail into the coffin of one of my favourite series’.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D scores a terrifying 0/5.

Remember Zod? He’s back! In toy form.

That’s right, Man of Steel baddie Zod has just has his big reveal, though likely not how Warner Brothers would have wanted. Two unfinished commercials depicting tie-in toys have been leaked online, and of course give us our first look at Zod, and an apparent robot army (I wonder if that will make it into the film).

Unfinished is a key word of course. These leaked ads are using footage from Superman Returns, and as these toys aren’t launching until Spring, there’s still a lot of time to flesh them out. Also, they’re toys, so it may not be an very accurate representation (I doubt the real Zod’s arms will be this stretchy)!

Check them out below! The first one doesn’t really look to have anything to do with the film, but look like pretty badass toys anyways.

Will you be picking up any of these?

We’re now just a couple weeks away from the launch of the highly anticipated Wreck-It Ralph, and Disney today has given us a look at another one of the worlds we’ll be visiting in the film!

Sugar Rush is a little Mario Kart and a lot of Candy Land. It’s also where Ralph will meet one of the films other main characters, Vanellope.

Watch the retro styled ad below, and get ready for Wreck-It Ralph on November 2nd!

Excited? I sure am!

“Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy-winning director Rich Moore (TV’s ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Futurama’) take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in ‘Wreck-It Ralph.’ Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly, ‘Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,’ ‘Step Brothers’) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer, ’30 Rock’), the ‘good guy’ star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing andseeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch, TV’s ‘Glee’) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman, ‘The Sarah Silverman Program’) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late? ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ crashes onto the big screen on November 2, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.”

After spending plenty of their own money and releasing a proof of concept clip that was very well received, the team behind bringing this project to life can’t seem to get this project into production. In order to raise the necessary funds to make The Goon movie happen David Fincher, Eric Powell, Blur Studios and Dark Horse Entertainment have launched a Kickstarter campaign.

“After investing hundreds of thousands of their own money and countless hours of effort, the team has opted to reach out to The Goon fanbase, comic book lovers, the movie industry, and frankly anyone with a pulse willing to donate, with a Kickstarter campaign to take their development efforts to the next level.”

Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown would be returning as Frankie and The Goon. David Fincher would be producing the film that will have Blur’s Tim Miller and Jeff Fowler co-directing. Check out all the information about the campaign and donate by clicking HERE. They also have plenty of cool stuff for those who pledge a bit more to the campaign.

A Gears Of War film has been in development since 2007. Total Recall’s Len Wiseman was even attached to direct at one point. However, the film got put on hold as New Line chose to focus on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy instead.

Variety is now reporting that “Creative Artists Agency is eager to meet with producers in the coming weeks and set up the project elsewhere”. The site is also reporting that Stuart Beattie’s (Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tide) screenplay is currently being considered as the one that they will chose to move forward with.

Epic Games is said to be involved in order to consult on the adaptation in order to, “make sure it ties into the canon established by the games and books.”

We reported last month that the upcoming female Expendables had found its first star in MMA fighter Gina Carano. Today Variety broke the news, and it’s another addition that very few had likely expected.

Katee Sackhoff has been cast in an as of yet unknown role in the film, which of course still has no official title (or even a director).

Katee is of course best known for her character in 2004’s Battlestar Galactica reimagining. She also spent some time on 24 and is set to appear in the upcoming Riddick sequel.

When we reported on Gina Carano’s casting, we wondered if the film would be filled with newer stars instead of older ones, and it seems (at this point) like that’s the way the film is going.

Are you still excited for it? Who would you love to see get cast? Let us know below!

On Monday we showed you a cool poster for the upcoming crime thriller Parker. FilmDistrict today has released the trailer for the upcoming film, via Machinima.

Parker is an adaptation of the popular novels penned by David E. Westlake. The movie looks like a ton of fun! Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

“Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead.

Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to PalmBeach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider, who’s short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean.”

Parker hits theatres on January 25, 2013.

Lawrence of Arabia I hear, is quite the film. It’s a title that I have not yet had the pleasure to see, despite it being on my list of ‘Stuff I Have To See’ for some time now. This is some pretty cool news, and if I was anywhere near a theatre having a showing, I would be there for sure.

The Blu-Ray release of the film is set to release in November. For this, Sony Pictures Entertainment has taken the original negatives, and meticulously restored them to a beautiful, digital 4K transfer. This is a huge upgrade from any edition that has been seen so far!

But it’s not just on Blu-Ray that you can experience this! For one day only, this Thursday October 4th, Lawrence of Arabia returns to theatres. Tickets and participating locations can be found at www.FathomEvents.com. Over 630 theatres! Not a single one in Canada though, so I suppose I’ll be sitting out on this one!

You should pick up tickets quickly though, the showing is just a couple days away, and tickets are sure to be going fast!

Check out the trailer for the transfer below, and let us know if you’re going!

IGN today premiered a poster for the upcoming Parker: an upcoming crime thriller based on the novels by Donald E. Westlake. This poster looks really cool to me. I love the simplicity of it (solid coloured background, grouped text), and overall I just get a very cool vibe from it.

This is the first I’ve heard of the title, of which the plot synopsis is as follows:

Sounds like a fun ride. Check out the poster below and let us know what you think!

Parker hits theatres on January 25th.

Last week we showed you Fox’s list of possible directors for the sequel to last years phenomenal Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The list included some great names, such as J Blakeson (The Disappearance Of Alice Creed), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick), and Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy)

Shawn had commented that Matt Reeves had stepped down from his other projects, signaling that he may have ben the chosen one.

Looks like that is in fact the case! Deadline has revealed that Matt Reeves will in fact be at the helm of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The film is set to release on May 23rd, 2014.

What are your thoughts? Looking forward to the film? What did you think of his previous efforts, Cloverfield and Let Me In?

David S. Goyer has been doing his rounds to promote his upcoming series Da Vinci’s Demons. When speaking with Italian site badtaste.it, the topic of Man of Steel came up, and Goyer of course had a few words to say about it. Check out the interaction below!

Moderator: You are quite good at writing two kinds of stories: fantasy completely original stories, with a supernatural aspect, and also adaptations (especially from comic-books) that you reinvent in an original way. We know you’re working on a new comic-book adaptation, a DC Comics adaptation. What does this work have in common with you previous works?

David Goyer: Are we talking about Man of Steel? What Christopher Nolan and I have done with Superman is trying to bring the same naturalistic approach that we used adopted for the Batman trilogy. We always had a naturalistic approach, we want out stories to be rooted in reality, like they could happen in the same world we live in. It’s not that easy with Superman, and actually this doesn’t necessarily mean we will make a dark movie. But working on this reboot we are thinking about what would happen if a story like this one actually happened. How would people react to this? What impact would have the presence of Superman in the real world? What I really like to do is writing “genre” stories without a cartoonish element. I did the same with Da Vinci’s Demons, and I’ll do the same with Man of Steel.

David of course has quite a few superhero writing credits under his belt. From Nolan’s Batman trilogy to Ghost Rider, Blade to The Crow, he’s been heavily invested with the stuff for decades. I know I can’t wait for Man of Steel, how about you?

Man of Steel soars into theatres on June 14, 2013.

Last week, MachinimaFlixist and Geekscape grouped up to hold an awesome (and awesomely successful) advanced screening of the upcoming horror Sinister. It was a ton of fun (or so I hear, I’m stuck up here in Canada), and an awesome experience for everyone involved.

Apologies to those who wanted to go but couldn’t! The screening turned out far more successful than we could have imagined: as we let you know previously, we actually had to ask for a bigger venue as we sold out the original so fast.

If you missed the screening, you’ll get a shot to see Sinister when it releases on October 12th. The film is said to be one of the scariest of the year, and currently holds 100% on RottenTomatoes. I know I’ll be lining up!

We managed to grab a few photo’s at the screening (just a few, in all our excitement we forgot that our phones also double as cameras). Also take a look at the exclusive poster that was created for the screening!

Folks lining up long before the film.
Huge lineup! A little bit closer now!
Sinister‘s director Scott Derrickson was there! Here he signs posters before the show.
The exclusive poster, created just for the screening!

Did you make it to the show? What did you think!?

Thanks again to all who made the screening such a success!

In an announcement that surprised nobody, Columbia Pictures announced today that both Andrew Garfield and Mark Webb will be coming back for a sequel to this years The Amazing Spider-Man.

The first film did quite well both critically and financially. The Amazing Spider-Man currently holds a 73% Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes, and has raked in over $750 Million at the box office.

Emma Stone has not yet been confirmed, but is expecting to reprise her role as Gwen Stacy in the currently untitled sequel.

Whatever it’s called, the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is set to begin production early next year, and will swing into theatres on May 2nd, 2014.

Are you excited for this news? The community seems pretty torn on the first film. How did you feel about it?

A few days ago the first trailer for The Collection hit the net (spoiler: creepy as hell. Check it out here). Looks like LD Entertainment is ramping up promotion, as today they released the first poster for the upcoming film.

What do you think of it? Were you a fan of the first film? I haven’t seen it myself, but I’ll definitely be checking it out before this one releases!

The Collection is in theatres November 30th.

Need a refresher on the plot? Here’s the synopsis:

When Elena’s (Emma Fitzpatrick) friends take her to a secret party at an undisclosed location, she never imagined she would become the latest victim of The Collector, a psychopathic killer. The Collector kidnaps and transports her to an abandoned hotel he’s transformed into his own private maze of torture and death. Upon learning of his daughter’s disappearance, Elena’s wealthy father (Christopher McDonald) hires a group of mercenaries to retrieve her from the vicious grips of The Collector. These mercenaries coerce Arkin (Josh Stewart), the only man to have escaped the wrath of this heinous monster, to lead them through the gruesome labyrinth. Now, Arkin finds himself fighting for his own life in order to save Elena. “The Collection,” directed by Marcus Dunstan and written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton, is a suspense horror film with nonstop thrills at every turn, starring Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network), and Christopher McDonald (Requiem for a Dream).

The film still doesn’t have an official title, but today it got its first star. Variety was first to break the news today that Gina Carano, MMA fighter and star of 2011’s Haywire is the first name attached to the film.

Carano is now attached to a few titles currently in production. She’s set to appear in the upcoming Fast and the Furious 6 as well as something called In the Blood.

It sounds like producer Adi Shankar was set on Carano pretty early on:

I don’t know how I’m supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of ‘The Expendables’ without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba.

I wonder who else we’ll see attached. Carano is much younger than a lot of people were anticipating. Will the film be a mix of younger and older stars, or will we miss out on the classic action heroines completely? Whatever the case is, we’ve got our eyes on this one!

Did you know that Universal was planning to reboot The Mummy franchise?

Deadline broke the news today that Universal Pictures has set their sights on Total Recall‘s Len Wiseman. Jon Spaihts (Promethius) is currently working on the script, and the film is shooting for a Summer 2014 release.

Film producer Alex Kurtzman in a Deadline interview had this to say about the project:

“When I first heard Universal was relaunching this, that is the image that popped into my head, the period tale, the old monster, but when Bob and Alex pitched it, there was a great new take and approach, and a very different mummy as well,” Wiseman told me. “It’s a darker twist on the material, a scarier version.”

The film will apparently take place in more modern times than previous iterations, which is a very interesting move. The previous franchise took place around the 1920’s.

Wiseman also had this to say about the film and its title character:

“One of the things that interested me with this mummy is, he’s still in essence a man,” Wiseman said. “They haven’t turned his brain into a monster brain. He still has a personality and is very cunning and calculating. He’s a true character in any form, and in creature form, even if he is that staggering creature, it becomes more important that he’s a thinking, calculating person.”

I totally forgot about this franchise. I don’t think I’ve seen any of the titles since The Mummy 2 was in theatres. A modern take is a cool idea, but I’m a bit wary of it coming from the writer of Promethius and the director of this summer’s Total Recall, as neither of those turned out too hot.

What are your thoughts? Looking forward to this one? Hoping for Brendan Fraser to return?

Paramount is still attempting develop a feature film based on the popular series Baywatch, you know the one where they ran on the beach in slow motion all the damn time, and it appears they’ve brought someone new in to give the project life again. Screenwriter Peter Tolan (Rescue Me) was previously tapped to write the script, and it was revealed that his take would be a comedy adaptation which is probably going to be similar to what we got with the quite hilarious 21 Jump Street.

And that’s fine being that a serious Baywatch movie would be a disaster. Vulture reports that Reno 911! co-creator and star Robert Ben Garant will be directing the film. Garant previously directed the films Reno 911! Miami and Balls Of Fury. There is no word whether or not Garant would be touching up on the script but we can definitely assume he’s going to be. This could actually turn out to be reallly funny if done right. And they better have a damn Hasselhoff cameo.

I am typing this after jumping around office doing my happy dance. My coworker across the hall thinks I am crazier for it, but I am not ashamed, for Pure Pwnage IS COMING BACK! AS A MOVIE! Take a look at their announcement video below.

OH MY GOD! What else is there to say? If you were a gamer and alive in the early 2000’s then you know who Pure Pwnage is. Even if you don’t, you at least know who FPSDoug is. “Everyone knows you run faster with a knife!” is a quote that echos through time, and to see the gang back together again is amazing.

Today has been no exception: the latest images give us our first look at Christopher Mintz-Plasse as The Mother Fucker. Dude sure looks grown up from the first film!

Take a gander at the shots below, and let us know what you think!

We’re just a couple weeks away from Taken 2 and promotion is beginning to ramp up! 20th Century Fox today released a new clip for the upcoming action flick.

Taken 2 hits North America on October 5th: Liam Neeson returns as badass Bryan Mills, and much of the other cast will be reprising their roles as well.

Taken was a great and unexpected surprise in my opinion. I just hope the sequel offers a similar experience! Taken 2 comes from the same writers, Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3) however has taken the directors chair!

Check out the clip below, and let us know what you think!

We hope you’re looking forward to Sinister as much as we are!

The movie is being heralded as one of the scariest of the year, and from the look of this new red band trailer, Sinister certainly looks like it could be!

Sinister hits theatres on October 12th. It currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and from everything I’ve heard, it doesn’t seem like that will fall anytime soon!

Check out the trailer below, and read on further for some exciting news!

You’ve surely seen the posts these past few weeks about the special early showing of the film coming from MachinimaFlixist and Geekscape. The showing sold out very quickly, but we were able to charm our way into a larger venue. We hope you got your tickets however, as this larger venue is now 100% SOLD OUT!

Thanks for making the event such a success! It’s going to be awesome! We’ll see all of you on the 24th!

This is amazing news for all the Manimal fans out there!

Not a fan? Never heard of it? Lets refresh your memorythe opening narration of each episode went as follows.

Dr Jonathan Chase… wealthy, young, handsome. A man with the brightest of futures. A man with the darkest of pasts. From Africa’s deepest recesses, to the rarefied peaks of Tibet, heir to his father’s legacy and the world’s darkest mysteries. Jonathan Chase, master of the secrets that divide man from animal, animal from man… Manimal!

Manimal was an adventure series from NBC about a shape-shifting man who fought crime. It lasted for 8 episodes during 1983, and was likely never thought about again. Until now!

THR has reported than Manimal may soon be hitting the silver screen. Sony Pictures Animation have picked up the rights, and are planning a CG/Live action hybrid based on the forgotten shape-shifter.

The creator of Manimal, Glen Larson is even involved, and will serve as producer on the film. Sony is currently looking for a writer for the project, so maybe it’s time to dust off that fan fiction!

Are you down with the Manimal? Or is Hollywood simply running out of things to remake?

A bunch of cool shots from the Toronto filming of Kick-Ass 2 have made their way online.  Here we get a great look at Hit Girl’s new gear, as well as another shot of Mother Russia! Still no look at Jim Carrey however!

I can’t wait for this one. I thought the first film was a great time, and certainly made me a fan of the books. I can only hope for more of the same here!

Thanks to ComicBookMovie for collecting these! Kick-Ass 2 is set to hit theatres on June 28, 2013.

Fan of the books? First film? What do you think of these shots?
