Briefly: They’ve been teasing it all week, and now it’s finally here: the newest trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy.

The new preview shows off a ton of new action, and also lets us hear Bradley Cooper’s Rocket and Vin Diesel’s Groot for the first time. It doesn’t dig too deep into the film’s plot, but its pretty clear that the universe views the group as a band of criminals (and A-holes), and that they’re going to fight something sinister.

You can take a look at the new trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see when Guardians of the Galaxy hits theatres on August 1st!

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchise of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team–the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits -Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand–with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Briefly: Well that didn’t take long.

After blowing box office expectations out of the water (the film was projected to have a 65 million dollar weekend, but ended with over 93 million, making it 2014’s biggest opening weekend so far), a sequel has quickly been greenlit by Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros.

No details on the sequel have been revealed, but I’d imagine that director Gareth Edwards is likely to return. As Deadline notes, Edwards has mentioned that if a sequel did happen, he would “use the same kind of restraint that he did for this one.”

Have you seen the film yet? What did you think? Do you agree with Jonathan’s review?

Briefly: Following the teaser art and synopsis for the series released just last week, Marvel has just debuted an interview with series star Hayley Atwell, who talks of her hopes for the series’ first season, while also confirming that said season will run for eight episodes.

In the series “It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.”

You can listen to Hayley’s insight via the interview below. Are you looking forward to the series? What do you hope to see when it premieres? Sound out below!

Briefly: Aside from a teaser poster released last week, and a teaser trailer released late last year, we haven’t really seen much from the camp of Christopher Nolan’s Insterstellar.

Until the theatrical trailer was released just moments ago, that is. While it’s not plot heavy, and it still leaves us with a ton of questions, it does give us a decent idea of what the film’s about. As expected, the cinematography, audio, effects, and performances look simply breathtaking.

Take a look at the full trailer below, and let us know what you think! Interstellar hits theatres on November 7th!

Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

Briefly: With just one week remaining until the film’s release. Fox has just debuted a new featurette for their highly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The video is titled ‘Extinction’ and features the cast chatting about what’ll happen if they don’t succeed in their newest mission. It also features some great looking new footage… which I almost wish that I hadn’t seen as we’ve pretty much seen the whole movie by now.

Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think! X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres on May 23rd!

Briefly: The next entry in the Halo franchise has just been announced.

We knew it was coming, and we even saw a brief, unrevealing trailer for it at last year’s E3, but the game now officially has a title and release window. It’s called Halo 5: Guardians, and it’ll release in Fall 2015.

Bonnie Ross, General Manager of 343 Industries took to Xbox Wire to talk briefly about the title. She wasn’t able to reveal too much (but told us that much more was coming at this year’s E3 and to stay tuned for more).

Here’s what Bonnie had to say:

Any time you transition to a new platform, there is the opportunity to look at things with a new perspective. For us at 343 Industries, the launch of the Xbox One was an opportunity to think about what stories we wanted to tell, how to tell them, and how best to push the “Halo” franchise to showcase the platform. And, most importantly, combining our passion for “Halo” with the vocal and informative input from our fans.

“Halo” isn’t simply a perennial game franchise, it’s a part of the Xbox platform itself. In terms of innovation and ideation, it’s sometimes important to people who might not even play “Halo.” And of course it’s a passion and an essential experience for two generations of gamers.  So we asked ourselves, how do we begin and where do we go with “Halo” on Xbox One?

In the past, “Halo” games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a “Halo” game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial.  It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.

I’m happy to reveal that “Halo 5: Guardians,” the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015.  In the tradition of every “Halo” game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.”  That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine.  Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.

It’s a game that will hopefully demonstrate the talent, learnings and abilities of the 343 Industries team. A game that will incorporate the things we learned from “Halo 4” about technology, aesthetics, performance and scale – and perhaps more importantly, understanding and embracing a community of gamers who love what lies at the heart of this game, and the limitless potential of the “Halo” universe.

And 2015 won’t simply be the year of “Halo 5: Guardians,” it will also be a year that offers us a unique opportunity. The opportunity to invite old friends and new audiences into that universe through the “Halo” television series, launched as a unique collaboration with Steven Spielberg and some of the finest creative minds in the business.  A series that will stand alone, as well as complement and enrich the game experience.  We’ll have more to share on the “Halo” television series as we near its projected fall 2015 release.

It’s interesting that they chose to officially announce the game so close to E3, but in any case, we’ll definitely be seeing more of it during Microsoft’s press conference in just a few weeks. You can rewatch the teaser from last year’s E3 below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game.

Briefly: The trailer for Monsters: Dark Continent has just hit the web. It’s the sequel to Gareth Edwards 2010 indie monster flick, fittingly titled Monsters.

Edwards has been doing some pretty big things since then. His newest film actually hits theatres today, and it’s called Godzilla. Yep. Dark Continent is directed by Tom Green (not that Tom Green) and looks to retain much of the same style and tone of the original film.

You can take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Seven years on from the events of Monsters, and the ‘Infected Zones’ have spread worldwide. Humans have been knocked off the top of the food chain, with disparate communities struggling for survival. American soldiers are being sent abroad to protect US interests from the Monsters, but the war is far from being won.

Noah, a haunted soldier with several tours under his belt, is sent on a mission: an American soldier has gone rogue deep in the Infected Zone, and Noah must reach him and take him out. But when Noah’s unit and transport are destroyed, he finds himself with only a young and inexperienced cadet for company – the brother of the man Noah has been sent to kill.

The two soldiers must go on a life-altering journey through the dark heart of monster territory, accompanied by a young local woman to guide them. By the time the three of them reach their goal, they will have been forced to confront the fear that the true monsters on the planet may not be alien after all.

Briefly: Following the first look released yesterday, The CW has just released a five minute long trailer for The Flash.

The series, of course, is “Based upon characters published by DC Comics. Through a freak accident, scientist Barry Allen is given the power of super speed that transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive. Cast: Grant Gustin (Barry Allen); Jesse L. Martin (Det. West); Tom Cavanaugh (Harrison Wells).”

We saw the first photo of Grant Gustin in a great looking costume all the way back in March, and now that the series has officially been ordered, here’s a great look at the character in motion. Let us know what you think of the trailer, and be sure to tell us if you’ll be watching this Fall!

Briefly: With just over a month to go until Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theatres, Paramount has finally unwrapped more of the film’s sure-to-be-coherent plot. They’ve kept things fairly under wraps so far, so it’s nice to actually learn a bit about the film before it releases.

I’ve hated on the film a lot so far, but this new preview actually makes it look like a pretty fun time. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theatres on June 27th!

We’ve been waiting for what seems like forever, but Godzilla is finally on the horizon. The film will launch on May 16th, and as you know by our constant sharing of every image, trailer, clip, and featurette, we’re damned excited. Today, I had a chance to chat with Max Borenstein, the film’s screenwriter and co-writer of the excellent Godzilla: Awakening graphic novel (which hits stores on May 7th). Here’s what Max had to say:

DK: First up, why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself? Who is Max Borenstein?

MB: (laughs) Who is Max Borenstein? Well, I am a writer and filmmaker, I grew up in Los Angeles, and I’m a huge fan of many genres of film. I started out by directing my own film in college, and since then I’ve started doing some dramatic stuff; I wrote a movie about Jimi Hendrix and did a lot of character based drama stuff. Then I started getting opportunities to write bigger tentpole films and ‘Godzilla’ has been the most exciting and amazing creative experience of my career thus far.

DK: Right into ‘Godzilla’. How much did you love the 1998 film?

MB: (laughs… profusely) Does that answer your question?

DK: Haha. Yeah, that’s pretty much what I was expecting. Seriously though, were you very familiar with the franchise before coming aboard as screenwriter? If so, what’s been your favourite film?

MB: I was familiar with the franchise as a kid, and I had refreshed myself when I got involved. What really excited me was rewatching the original, but seeing for the first time the Japanese cut, which I had never seen growing up. That has become my favourite Godzilla film. I just love it. I love a lot of the films for different reasons, but that one I think is an apotheon on its own. There’s something very special about it as a stand-alone film, and it uses the monster movie genre as a metaphor for something really harrowing and resonant.

1954 Godzilla
1954 Godzilla

DK: What do you think makes a successful ‘Godzilla’ film, and what makes some of them unsuccessful?

MB: I can only speak creatively. Certainly, success in that other sense I think only the movie gods understand, but I do think that the interesting thing about Godzilla films is that there is no one way, there’s no one coherent Godzilla. There are many versions and he’s kind of evolved over the years in different iterations, representing different things appropriate to different eras. That’s one of the things that’s so interesting. Godzilla is kind of this vessel that can contain multitudes in an interesting way, from the more serious harrowing original, getting more campy , very 60’s, and then being rebooted in the 80’s and getting darker and more appropriate to those times and the different fears which kind of transitioned from nuclear stuff to environmental themes. I don’t know if there’s a secret formula but I think that what’s so incredible about it is its ability as a character and as a franchise to have this kind of extended life, where it’s ever appropriate. As long as people are thinking about it and reinventing it in interesting ways that speak to the times, I think to me, that’s what makes a Godzilla film especially resonant and successful beyond just the spectacle and fun and being well made. If anything sets certain films apart from the rest of the pack, it’s that thematic resonance that they manage to achieve.

DK: That’s an absolutely perfect answer.

MB: Cool.

DK: What challenges did you face developing a script that would appeal to mainstream North American audiences, while ensuring that it could still captivate Japanese moviegoers?

MB: In a very big way, all audiences want a great story told. There are very specific audiences for certain films, and then there’s the general audience for those same films. Obviously, Godzilla has a rabid fanbase, and many fanbases that appreciate different things. I don’t think that any one is probably exactly the same in terms of what he or she loves the most about this franchise, so I think that my aim certainly, and the aim of everyone involved in the film was not to try to overthink and strategize how to capture every audience, it was all about how do we make the best film that someone that had never heard of Godzilla would come in and be as captivated by it as we are. It’s the thing that drives us to want to make the movie to begin with, is our love for this franchise, but in order to really do that justice I think that you have to step outside and make a film that is going to convince someone who has no love and no interest going in, to fall in love with the franchise and with the character in the same way that we have. That was really our guiding principle, and I think that the assumption, and I hope this is true, is that if we aim high and try to make something that we think is the best film that we can make, it’s going to capture a North American audience, it’s going to capture the Japanese audience, and it’s going to hopefully capture audiences around the world. I think that that’s really the only honest way to approach any kind of process like this, is to try and respect the integrity of what you’re making.

DK: You also co-wrote the Godzilla: Awakening graphic novel. How did the idea for that prequel book come to be, and what was the biggest difference in writing that over the screenplay?

MB: That’s a good question. It came to be because Legendary is an awesome company, and they have a comic book division, and Thomas Tull, who is the Grand Poobah there and runs the show, is a giant Godzilla fan. He thought it would be rad to do a comic book that ties in to our reinvented or rebooted Godzilla universe. That was something that I was really excited about. I wrote it with my cousin, who I’m very close to and have been trying to find something to work on together. He’s a brilliant writer, he’s mainly in computer science and technology and he teaches and studies at MIT at the media lab. We got to collaborate on that which was a really wonderful process. Certainly the cool thing about writing the comic book, which I’ve actually only recently started to dabble in, this is really my first comic book, you have a lot more control in some ways in terms of the kind of story you’re able to tell because you don’t have to think about budget, or what you can afford or what you can actually get reality or CGI to help you achieve, you can just imagine it, and then it is so. Then again, there are certain constraints in terms of what that medium will allow storytelling-wise, which is a fascinating learning curve. That was something that was really fun and exhilarating to do. It made it a very fresh process for both of us. Creatively, Legendary has just been very supportive throughout the entire development of the film and so maybe the cliché or expected answer would be that we had so much more freedom developing the comic book than the film, because with the film there are more cooks in the kitchen. The truth is that everyone has always been on the same page in terms of wanting this movie and the whole franchise to continue. We all wanted it to be as great as it could be, so everyone has been extremely supportive and collaborative this whole time, and it was a very fun process.

DK: In writing the screenplay OR the graphic novel, were there any strange or unconventional ideas that were quickly disregarded?

MB: (laughs) Every idea under the sun was contemplated and disregarded at some point along the way, and that’s the only way, I think, that I know how to approach the creative process. I think the answer is that no, I probably can’t really talk about them. If I could even remember them it would only be interesting within the context, and also part of the beauty of getting to produce a finished product is sometimes not having to show what you looked like along the way.

DK: I didn’t think you’d be able to talk about it, but I had to try! On that note, do you see more comic book or graphic novel work in the cards for you?

MB: Do I see more? I love that. It was incredibly fun and fulfilling in a different way. It’s certainly faster, I mean I’d been writing the film for three years, or maybe more by the time it comes out, and the graphic novel took a few months. It was unbelievable to see your work and your words take shape and visual form that quickly. That’s very gratifying and there are a couple of other ideas that I’ve been dabbling with with Greg. So I sure hope so.

GodzillaStill

DK: Edwards, of course, planned Godzilla to work as a standalone film, but what classic Toho monster would you like to see in a sequel? What’s your favourite Toho creature?

MB: Well Godzilla is my favourite Toho monster, but if we’re expanding… That’s a good question. I don’t have one favourite, I mean really love King Ghidorah and I think that the really interesting thing is that all of the monsters are great in their context, and when you see this film the question is always about what is going to fit into the tone of the universe that we’ve created. We spent a long, hard time making sure that we were servicing that tone in the creation of the MUTOs, and if we were given the opportunity to work with any of the classic Toho monsters, I think that would be really rad. It would be about approaching it in the same way, in trying to bring them into this universe in a way that felt coherent and plausible within reality.

DK: What was your reaction to seeing this version of Godzilla move and roar on-screen for the first time?

MB: It’s the same reaction that I have every time I see it. It’s impossible to describe in words because it has more to do with the churning of the gut and the tingling of the spine and hair standing up on the back of your neck. It’s really a kick. I’m in it, and so it’s hard to step back and go ‘Holy shit, a year ago I was writing these words on the page, and now I’m watching this unbelievable spectacle come to life’. It’s a monster that looks cooler and more bad-ass than I could ever have imagined him.

DK: To finish up, the Godzilla subreddit wanted me to thank you, Gareth, and everyone involved in the project, for making Godzilla awesome and really relevant again. Is there a message that I can pass on to them, and to the rest of Godzilla’s fans for you?

MB: That’s thrilling and awesome. Part of the crazy thing about getting to make a movie in this day and age where fan reaction is immediate and vocal and ever present is the beauty of seeing people respond, hopefully positively to what you made, but also the terror of what people are going to say. The fan reactions thus far have been so heartening. I’d really like to thank them.

DK: Perfect. Thanks so much for taking the time today Max, and I absolutely cannot wait to see the movie, it looks amazing.

MB: Absolutely. My pleasure. Thank you Derek.

You can pre-order Godzilla: Awakening from Amazon, and you know where to get your movie tickets. How excited are you for the film?

Briefly: Each and every time EA releases a new title in The Sims franchise, I become addicted.

I have no idea what it is about the ‘life simulator’, but it’s really nice to design folks and houses and do stuff that I’m not nearly cool enough to do in real life. The enhancements and additions to each title are always impressive, and that definitely looks to be the case with The Sims 4‘s character creator.

The video below showcases the many changes that the character creator has seen since The Sims 3, including ‘Detail Mode’ which actually lets you sculpt your character with your computer’s mouse (or maybe your iPad’s touchscreen?). It’s really impressive, and it’s not something that I’ve seen from a character creation system before.

In any case, whenever The Sims 4 releases, it’ll be even easier to make even more diverse characters than ever. Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Watch Dogs is finally almost here, and Ubisoft has debuted a new 9-minute ‘101’ trailer for the game that takes us through almost every facet of the experience.

The video showcases some intense action that we haven’t seen before, introduces us to some interesting characters, shows off the game’s intriguing smartphone app, and plenty more. Some of it does look a little silly however, like running away from the cops as a mechanical spider in one of the game’s ‘Digital Trips’.

The game looks like a lot of fun, and as I’ve definitely been looking for something new to play on my PS4, I can’t wait to pick it up. Watch Dogs was my “must have” title for the PS4 launch before it was delayed, so I sure hope that it’s worth the wait.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Watch Dogs hits PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on May 27th!

Briefly: During tonight’s Arrow season finale, The CW debuted the first teaser for The Flash, which will premiere on the network for the Fall season.

We saw the first photo of Grant Gustin in a great looking costume all the way back in March, and now that the series has officially been ordered, here he is in motion. Let us know what you think of this first look, and if it’s a series you’re looking forward to!

Briefly: Hollywood has been busy not making a live action version of Akira for well over a decade at this point. Naturally, some amazing fans decided to take matters into their own hands, and The Akira Project was born.

The is self-described as a “crowd-sourced, non-profit project meant to create a live action fan trailer of AKIRA, the renowned manga-turned-anime film from the late 1980′s; a stunning example of both mediums as art forms. While Hollywood has been working on a live-action Akira movie for a few years now, we, as fans, wanted to take a shot at making our own adaptation. A chance to stick as close to the source material as possible. A chance to do Akira Justice.”

And that’s exactly what they’ve done.

The group raised funds with a semi-succesful IndieGoGo campaign back in 2012, and the live-action Akira trailer has just been released online. It’s pretty much perfect, and should be an absolute treat for Akira fans. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Be sure to head to The Akira Project’s official website for more info.

Briefly: Looks like Rick won’t be stuck in that train car forever.

AMC today released the first image from The Walking Dead‘s fifth season, and it shows Rick being absolutely bathed in natural light. He’s peeking out of what clearly looks like a train car door too, so I’d imagine that we’ll find out fairly quickly just what the people of Terminus are up to (besides eating people, of course).

Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think! The Walking Dead will return this October!

Briefly: Finally, finally, finally, we’re just a few short months away from the long-awaited Sin City sequel, A Dame to Kill For.

I still remember being a 15 year old kid, absolutely falling in love with the first film, and being so excited when it was announced that a sequel would be put on the fast track. Now, it’s 9 years later, we’re finally close to seeing it.

A new character poster featuring Josh Brolin’s Dwight has just hit the web. This one isn’t as comic-book styled as the Marv and Nancy one-sheets, but it still looks pretty cool. Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think!

Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the screen in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is the follow up to Rodriguez and Miller’s 2005 groundbreaking film, FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY.

Briefly: Despite stating that the console would never be without it, Microsoft essentially completed the Xbox One 180 today by announcing a Kinect-less Xbox One system. The new package will be available on June 9th for $399, which is $100 less than the current Kinect package.

Phil Spencer stated back in March that the Games with Gold program is ‘fundamentally different’ from Playstation Plus because it allows gamers to keep the titles even if their subscription lapses. It looks like that is changing too, at least for Xbox One owners, as the Games with Gold announcement states that “Members will have subscription-based access to free games ranging from top hits to breaking indie stars. The program will launch on Xbox One with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault.”

Lastly, Microsoft is FINALLY (finally) dropping the Xbox Live Gold requirement for using services such as Netflix and Hulu. I don’t know how anyone ever though this was a good idea, especially as there’s not another device on the planet (as far as I know) that requires an additional fee to watch Netflix on it. Here’s what Microsoft said about that:

“Coming in June, anyone with an Xbox will be able to access popular entertainment experiences – whether or not you have an Xbox Live Gold membership. This includes great gaming apps like Machinima, Twitch and Upload, popular video services like Netflix, Univision Deportes, GoPro, Red Bull TV and HBO GO, sports experiences like the NFL app for Xbox One, MLB.TV, NBA Game Time, NHL Game Center and more.*** Microsoft experiences including Internet Explorer, Skype, OneDrive and OneGuide will also be available to all Xbox customers.”

Don’t get me wrong, everything change made here is positive, but I really wish that they didn’t have to directly contradict Microsoft’s previous statements! It’s going to make my Xbox One more fun however (free games, and essentially a price drop so more friends can pick one up) so I’m down with all of the changes!

What are you thoughts?

Briefly: An X-Men: Apocalypse rumour has just been confirmed.

During an interview for X-Men: Days of Future Past, producer Lauren Shuler Donner spoke to TotalFilm about the topic of Gambit and who would play him. As TotalFilm mentioned the rumours of Channing Tatum being eyed for the character, Donner confirmed that Tatum would portray the character in the next X-Men film.

She continued, “He’s a rogue, Channing — he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau. And he can handle the action, we all know that. And he’s got a really good heart … I think he’ll be great for Gambit.”

Briefly: Here we go!

Following the covered image of the new Batmobile that Zack Snyder revealed yesterday, the director has just tweeted a new look at the vehicle AND our first look at the new Batsuit.

They both look fantastic. It’s not a full reveal of the car, but it gives us a great look at the cockpit area. As for the Batsuit, well, just take a look below and let us know what you think!

Here’s the image a bit larger:

The suit looks very reminiscent of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, doesn’t it? Also, for a Superman movie… it sure seems like we’re talking a lot about Batman!

Briefly: Fox is sure going heavy with the Gotham marketing.

The show was just ordered to series last week, we’ve already had a great first trailer, and key art for the series debuted just two days ago. Today Fox debuted fourteen new images for the series, which are mostly character shots, but also feature a few stills from the pilot episode.

You can take a look at the images below, and be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to the series. Gotham will premiere on Fox this Fall!

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

“Gotham” is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), “Gotham” follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

Growing up in Gotham City’s surrounding suburbs, James Gordon (Ben McKenzie, “Southland,” “The O.C.”) romanticized the city as a glamorous and exciting metropolis where his late father once served as a successful district attorney. Now, two weeks into his new job as a Gotham City detective and engaged to his beloved fiancée, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards, Open Grave, “Breaking In”), Gordon is living his dream – even as he hopes to restore the city back to the pure version he remembers it was as a kid.

Brave, honest and ready to prove himself, the newly-minted detective is partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue, “Sons of Anarchy,” “Terriers,” “Vikings,” “Copper”), as the two stumble upon the city’s highest-profile case ever: the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne. At the scene of the crime, Gordon meets the sole survivor: the Waynes’ hauntingly intense 12-year-old son, Bruce (David Mazouz, “Touch”), toward whom the young detective feels an inexplicable kinship. Moved by the boy’s profound loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer.

As he navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham’s criminal justice system, Gordon will confront imposing gang boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith, The Matrix films, “HawthoRNe,” Collateral), and many of the characters who will become some of fiction’s most renowned, enduring villains, including a teenaged Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman (acting newcomer Camren Bicondova) and Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor, “The Walking Dead,” Another Earth).

Although the crime drama will follow Gordon’s turbulent and singular rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara, “Burn Notice”), it also will focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune, who is being raised by his unflappable butler, Alfred (Sean Pertwee, “Camelot,” “Elementary”). It is a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the crusader he’s destined to be.

Briefly: Warner Bros. today debuted a brand new, extender trailer for next month’s Edge of Tomorrow.

I have to say that I wasn’t overly impressed with the first trailer for the film, but each subsequent video has garnered more and more excitement for the upcoming sci-fi.

The new preview clocks in at over three minutes long, and does a great job of explaining just what the hell is going in the film. Of course, you could also read the novel that the film is based on, All You Need Is Kill.

Four neat new featurettes for the for the film have also been revealed, which feature the cast and crew, and help to explain things even further. Take a look at everything below, and let us know what you think! Edge of Tomorrow hits theatres on June 6th!

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Briefly: They haven’t even revealed the film’s official title yet, but Man of Steel sequel director Zack Snyder has just given us a sneak peek at the new Batmobile.

You can clearly see where its inspiration comes from, as the vehicle looks to incorporate many elements from previous film versions of the car. It also looks pretty gorgeous (from the tiny area that we can see, of course).

Based on Snyder’s tweet, I imagine that we’ll see the full reveal tomorrow. Take a look at the sneak peek below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: We’re just a few more weeks away from Transformers: Age Of Extinction‘s big release, and Paramount has just debuted a few new stills from the film.

We’ve got shots of both Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, and that shot of Prime on his knees looks pretty badass. I’m not overly excited for the film (I quit the series after the first), but these shots certainly look cool.

Take a look at the images below, and let us know what you think. Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theatres on June 27th!

Briefly: Well that didn’t take long.

Just a few days after picking it up (and a couple of days after cancelling Community), NBC has debuted the first trailer for Constantine, which will will air on Fridays this Fall.

David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel) is Executive Producer on the series, and he states that he has “been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985. This Constantine, envisioned by Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics’ covers. Fans old and new are going to be in for a treat.” Goyer has done some great work in the past, so I’m really excited to see what happens here.

You can take a look at the promising trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think! Which new or returning comic-based TV show are you most looking forward to this year?

Briefly: Just two days after Marvel’s Agent Carter was ordered to series, Marvel has debuted the first promo image and synopsis for the anticipated series.

The image is a neat, classically styled throwback to… well, the period when the show will be set. Take a look below:

AgentCarter

The series synopsis is as follows, note that Howard Stark is mentioned, but Dominic Cooper isn’t. Will we be seeing the character at some point in the series?

“Marvel’s Agent Carter,” starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad.

Are you looking forward to the series? Are you happy about the renewal of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? What do you hope Agent Carter brings to the table? Sound out below!

Briefly: Sad news for fans of amazing television, Community has been cancelled.

It was news that I wasn’t expecting to hear, as creator Dan Harmon, as well as the cast and crew have been tweeting optimistic thoughts for the last few weeks.

We sure hope that the Sony-owned series can find a home on another network (or Netflix or Hulu), but for now, Greendale is closed… permanently.

We got more of this series than fans ever thought we would, and an exceptional fifth season after Dan Harmon’s triumphant return, so it’s really a bittersweet announcement, as it’s one we expected years ago. We’ll be sure to fill you in on any news of a pickup, but for now let us know your favourite episode in the comments below!

Briefly: Just last week we saw the first screenshots from the next episode of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, titled In Harm’s Way.

Now, we have a brutal trailer, and an imminent release date.

Here are the release dates, straight from Telltale’s twitter account:

And the trailer, which you DEFINITELY shouldn’t watch if you haven’t finished episode two yet:

Looks great, right? What do you hope to see next week? Sound out below!

Briefly: The Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist premiere is approaching faster than an approaching shoryuken (May 23rd), and Machinima has just launched the full trailer for the anticipated series.

The series takes “the audience back to the formative years of iconic characters Ryu and Ken as they live a traditional warrior’s life in secluded Japan. The boys are, unknowingly, the last practitioners of the ancient fighting style known as“Ansatsuken” (Assassin’s Fist). The series follows them as they learn about the mysterious past of their master, Gōken, and the tragic, dark legacy of the Ansatsuken style. Can their destiny be changed, or will history repeat itself?”

It looks like a lot of fun, and ALL 12 episodes will be available on May 23rd. The series “is the brainchild of Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum, Snow White and the Huntsman). Ansah, who also stars in the series (Akuma), wrote the script with Christian Howard, who reprises his role as Ken Masters from the original fan film. The series also stars Mike Moh as Ryu, Togo Igawa (47 RoninMemoirs of a Geisha, The Last Samurai) as Gōtetsu, Akira Koieyama as Gōken, Gaku Space asGōki, Mark Killeen (300: Rise of an EmpireThe Dark Knight Rises) as Mr. Masters, and Hal Yamanouchi as Senzo.”

Briefly: With just two more weeks of waiting until X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres, Fox is really ramping up the marketing for the film.

Today, the studio released a new ‘Quicksilver Power Piece’ clip, which is a mashup of a ton of impressive new Quicksilver footage. He still looks pretty lame (in my opinion), but definitely fares better in motion than in still photos.

Take a look at the (spoilery) footage below, and let us know if you’re excited for the film. X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres on May 23rd!

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.
