Briefly: With just a couple of months to go until its premiere, CBS today debuted a brand new, action-packed trailer for its upcoming Supergirl series.

I have to say that I’m really excited to check out Supergirl. Sadly, I missed the pilot screening back at SDCC, and haven’t watched the leaked pilot just yet (we’ll see if I can hold out), but the premise of a fun, not super dark and gloomy superhero series is beyond intriguing to me.

From the looks of this latest trailer, the series looks light-hearted as hell, and we definitely need more of that on television today.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Supergirl premieres on October 26th!

Viz Media has announced that the iconic Japanese superhero sci-fi series, Ultraman, will make its return courtesy of a new Manga series.

Ultraman Manga Vol. 1

In case you’re unfamiliar with the series, Ultraman debuted in the late 1960’s and has since gained a worldwide audience. In Japan, the hero has become a cultural icon, triggering a pop culture phenomenon. After an ordinary human gained the power of the Giant of Light, an ordinary human gained the power to fight off giant monsters, or “kaiju”, that looked to destroy the Earth. The rest as they say, was history.

The manga series picks up years after the TV show ended. Following Shinjiro, an ordinary teenager who’s father happens to be the original Ultraman, the power that he inherits becomes the only thing that can stop a new threat, one that requires a new kind of hero.

Ultraman releases its first volume on August 18th in both physical and digital formats. Written by Eiichi Shimizu with artwork by Tomohiro Shimoguchi, the first book retails at $12.99.

Share your Ultraman fandom in the comments, and take a look at the full press release for all the details.

Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero – a new kind of ULTRAMAN… Shinjiro is an ordinary teenager, but his father is the legendary Shin Hayata. When he learns that his father passed on the “Ultraman Factor” to him and that he possesses incredible powers, nothing will ever be the same again.

“In Japan, Ultraman is something of a national symbol, an iconic superhero that is instantly recognizable and universally loved, and we’re excited to bring the brand new manga to a new generation of fans,” says Mike Montesa, Editor. “The series wonderfully updates the classic sci-fi property with cinematic action sequences and sleek character designs. Catch the exciting return of this legendary hero this summer!”

Eiichi Shimizu worked on the story, script and mechanical design for ULTRAMAN. Tomohiro Shimoguchi provided character design and art. Together, the two have formed a creative dream team to produce a number of works including ULTRAMAN (Hero’s) and Kurogane no Rainbareru (Linebarrels of Iron, Akita Shoten). In addition to comics, they have expanded their field of interest to include character designs for video games and action figures.

Wow. Just wow. From the moment the teaser trailer for HBO’s 2016 show Westworld started I was hooked. No hyperbole here folks, I’m fucking sold.

The show stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Jimmi Simpson, Clifton Collins, Jr., Simon Quarterman and Angela Sarafyan.

Westworld is based off of the 1973 film of the same name, which just so happens to be Michael Crichtons first feature film.

HBO says their newest show is

A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.

Like I said up top there, I was instantly sold. The vibe I got right away really checked all my boxes and I cannot wait for this show to start.

Westworld airs on HBO sometime in 2016. BUT, you can get a first look at it TONIGHT just before the season two finale of True Detective.

Briefly: Well, it’s not Teen Mom, but MTV’s found another hit in its Scream television series.

In response to the show’s impressive ratings, the network has renewed the series for a second season.

The official tagline for the series is “Everyone has secrets. Everyone tells lies. Everyone is fair game,” and I have to say that, even though I don’t really remember Scream (I was a young boy when the first film released), I’m intrigued by the self-aware musings of the series.

MTV EVP Mina Lefevre notes that “W] are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of Scream. We look forward to another season filled with suspense, horror and more twists and turns.”

Have you been watching the series so far? How does it hold up to the films? Sound out below!

Briefly: Episode two of Supergirl‘s first season is now in production, and following the series’ first poster from just a few days back, CBS has debuted a new featurette that digs into the episode’s opening scene.

I’m really excited to check out Supergirl. I missed the screening at SDCC, and haven’t watched the leaked pilot, but the premise of a fun, not super dark and gloomy superhero series is beyond intriguing to me.

Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think! Supergirl premieres on October 26th!

Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photographer James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

Briefly: It’s still hard for me to believe that The X-Files is coming back.

Following the news of the Lone Gunmen’s return, and the very first teaser from last week, Fox has debuted another tiny teaser trailer for The X-Files.

Just like last time around, it features small snippets of non contextual footage, though this time around, we hear David Duchovny’s Mulder ask Scully if she’s ‘ready for this’.

I’m freaking ready for January 2016, when The X-Files returns on Fox. How about you? Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you’d like to see in the comments below!

Ah, that theme song. Really brings you back, doesn’t it?

Briefly: It’s a show that I gave up on long ago, but it’s hard to believe just how freaking popular Gotham is.

Following the addition of Michael Chiklis to the already expansive cast, Fox today debuted a new trailer for the upcoming season of Gotham. The video, called ‘Hungry’, showcases many of the angry, angry villains that we’re set to see again this time around, thankfully minus Jada Pinkett-Smith’s atrocious Fish Mooney.

The show is set to return on September 21st, so take a look at the new trailer below, and be sure to let us know if you’re still watching Gotham!

The good. The evil. The beginning.

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

They’re back from the dead! Or they were never dead! Or they were just at a really long Grateful Dead jam show—and now they’re back! Word through the grapevine is that The Lone Gunmen will appear in The X-Files revival that’s slated to start January 24th, 2016—apparently premiering after the NFC Championship Game—on FOX.

They’re joining creator Chris Carter’s roster of other verified returns; David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner and William B. Davis as the Cigarette Smoking Man.

The original Lone Gunmen—Dean Haglund, Bruce Harwood, and Tom Braidwood—will be back to reprise their roles much to the unbridled glee of “X-Philes” everywhere. The characters are proving to be quite hard to kill, surviving the dangers on The X-Files, surviving the season one cancellation of their own self-titled spin-off and now returning after apparently having been killed! Details on their return are slim—is it flashback(s)?—was their demise staged?—but I have my theories that could tie-in with yesterday’s news of Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet UnderDig ) and Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People, The Flash) joining the cast as Agents “Einstein and Miller.” I put those character names in quotes because I have some thoughts—and because their character descriptions are pretty vague and interchangeable; “sharp and confident” and “smart and smooth”. These thoughts of mine hinge on this visual characteristics comparison:

X-Files_MulderScully-AmellAmbrose_Comparison01_800x400

I mean, come on! You’re seeing this too, right? They’re almost clones of Duchovny and Anderson! Now, here are my theories—

Theory One: These are not the same Lone Gunman! They’ve come here from a parallel dimension! And they somehow brought Young Parallel Scully (Ambrose) and Mulder (Amell) with them! Come on—you know you were thinkin’ this too.

Theory Two: The Lone Gunmen that died were copies made by aliens! The real Lone Gunman are back from space! And once again, they’ve somehow brought Young Space Scully and Mulder—who were being grown from samples of Dana’s and Fox’s DNAs!

Theory Three: The Lone Gunmen appear in flashbacks where they set up—through flashbacks within the flashbacks—the groundwork for the spin-off X-Files: The Quantico Years featuring the Young Impressionable and Ambitious Scully and Mulder. The angsty spitfire show would feature a lot of love triangles (often with aliens and monsters) and serve to reboot the entire series for the YA crowd with special guest turns from members of One Direction (who in a nod to the wordplay of “The Lone Gunmen” will be referred to as “One Directions”.

You know one of these is what’s really going on—admit it!—and it’s probably theory three. . . Unless!—The Lone Gunmen were thrown into the future! They’ve returned with Scully’s and Mulder’s eventual offspring in an effort to save the us all from Skynet! I could go on and on—the point being that something is absolutely going on and FOX is trying to hide it from us. It’s a conspiracy! Look at the evidence! Thank our lucky stars that The Lone Gunmen are back to get to the bottom of all of this. What do you think? The truth is out there!—in January.

CBS just released their first official poster for the upcoming Supergirl series. Melissa Benoist sure looks…super!

Supergirl premieres October 26th

Looks like Gotham PD has a new Chief running the show! Emmy award winner Michael Chiklis joins the cast of Gotham for season 2 as Captain Nathaniel Barnes.

TVLine broke the story this morning. From the Gotham show producers, it sounds as if the rough and tumble Vic Mackey from The Shield will be joining the show.

He lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies – on either side of the law. For Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Barnes is a hero and a mentor, someone with whom he can share the burden of heroism. Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon… but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy.

Take note that this character appears to have been created purely for the show, as I (and most of the collective internet) cannot find ANY references to Nathaniel Barnes in any regards to Batman. This is going to be a huge positive for the writers of the show. An original character that they can weave into the narrative is going to bolster the already rich library of characters.

Season 2 of Gotham premieres September 21st.

FX Networks has just released the full trailer for the upcoming second season of their acclaimed series, “Fargo.”

The only similarities that carry over from last season, is blood, murder and mystery. The story takes place in 1979 and has venues in Sioux Falls, SD, and Luverne, MN, with a potential “botched robbery” and a Watergate name drop. Plus Ronald Reagan shows up on the 1980 campaign trail, played by Bruce Campbell. .

FX’s ‘Fargo’ has Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett and Kieran Culkin in the Noah Hawley-run show this time round.

Season 2 is set to premier in October.

Briefly: Yesterday it was reported that NBC had begun development on a reboot of classic 90’s action series Xena: Warrior Princess.

Sadly, it looks like you’ll have to give up on those dreams for now, as earlier today Xena herself, Lucy Lawless, squashed the news of the reboot.

It looks as though we’ll just have to keep dreaming for now, but while we wait for Xena, why not check out Paul London: Hero of the Prophecy?

14 years after the show’s sixth season ended, Xena: Warrior Princess is looking to make a return to television.

Hollywood Reporter‘s sources tell them that NBC is looking to make a modern reboot of the beloved franchise. Shows original executive producers, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are back on board to make the show a “modern” reboot. There is no confirmation of what role Lucy Lawless will have in the show, but rumors are that the producers want her involved somehow.

The direct quote from sources is that:

Xena would have to have the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games’ Katniss

Seems that our beloved shows from our youth are all returning. This news is hot on the heels of the X-Files series reboot as weel.

No word on additional cast of Xena, but the show is slated to hit the air sometime in 2016.

It seemed impossible. But then, most wonderful things did until someone accomplished them.

And so it goes with MTV bringing The Shannara Chronicles to cable television in January 2016! It’s a rich and ambitious production that knows it’s entering a post-Game of Thrones TV landscape where expectations are higher than ever for television to rival the production values of films with big budgets. Additionally, keeping with the Game of Thrones comparison, there is a rich tapestry of 25 books and counting from author Terry Brooks’ various series set in the world of Shannara—a post-post-apocalyptic fantasy realm set in the far distant future where magic has resurfaced.

Let’s kick things off with a gander at the Official First Look trailer screened at Comic-Con this year:

Clearly, you’re stoked. I can tell because I’m stoked too. Before we get too far however, it seems that most of us have been pronouncing Shannara wrong all this time—Terry Brooks explains:

This is a case of, “You made your bed, now lie in it.” For years I have insisted readers should pronounce the title in a way that feels natural to them. I have avoided glossaries, insisted majority rules, and watched the larger number of readers pronounce the word SHA-NAR-UH. So when I brought this up in a meeting with the writers, they simply said, “Well, everyone says it SHA-NAR-UH. So we will, too.” End of discussion.

SHANE-AIR-AH? SHAN-ERA? SHH-ANAR-A? Guess we won’t ever know what he actually has in mind unless we’re able to track him down at an official reading or convention.

Sticking with a focus on the show here, if they pull it off well, it’s set to help fill an epic void on television right now that only the afore mentioned Thrones is currently servicing. Before that was Legend of the Seeker, remember that one? For all it’s shortcomings and rough edges, Seeker was the only thing available on television to scratch a very specific itch. Upon its cancellation that fantasy-void felt deeper and darker than ever—until Thrones came along. Holy moly, did it ever come along—with a bang. . . or a chop, or a stab, or a naked. . . Anyway, nothing against Thrones being just what it is—I’m a big fan—but I could use a little more fantasy entertainment with a little more magic to really scratch that itch good. I’m happy to say it’s looking like The Shannara Chronicles is poised to do just that.

Couple quick thoughts on MTV itself: Does no one there remember what the M stands for in MTV? Guess it’s kicking a dead horse to say it’s not “music television” anymore—only bemoaned by those who were alive before 2000 but it still feels like it bears mentioning.

Between this and Teen Wolf, I guess MTV now stands for ‘Magical Television’!
—Jonathan London, The Original Geekscapist

Along those lines, one request of the network: Squeezing the latest pop songs into Teen Wolf works fine but please don’t do that for this fantasy set show devoid of Auto-Tune, nightclubs and Coachella. Maybe feature some funky classical-type groups, chamber ensembles or really out there orchestras if you wanna do some music tie-ins. I don’t know—what do you guys think?

Wait!—someone get MTV on the line. Maybe these insane freaks are available:

These days it’s not at all uncommon to be a little gun-shy when a new show debuts. Will it deliver? Will the network stick with it as it builds an audience or pull the rug out from under the early adopters? Will it feature often overlooked ice cream flavors? Well, I’m here to tell you, you have nothing to fear with Wayward Pines.

I’m going to attempt two things here. One is to encourage you to watch the season finale with me next Thursday on FOX at 9/8pm. The other is to tell you about the show without telling you about the show—trust me, it’s better that way and you’ll thank me for it later. (If you want spoilers, I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding them around online—but I think a lot of the magic lives in not fully knowing what you’re signing up for.)

I’d like you to imagine a love-fest between The Twilight ZoneThe X-Files, Lost, Twin PeaksThe Matrix and The Prisoner, where some of the best parts of their DNA are harvested and used to create what is easily the best sci-fi show on television right now—and it’s got Carla Gugino. Boom. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and look around and you’ll see that it’s getting solid scores from the critics (Rotten Tomatoes has it at 86% fresh, IMDB is at 8.2/10).

FOX tells it like this:

Based on a best-selling novel and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense), WAYWARD PINES is an intense, mind-bending 10-episode thriller starring Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon (Crash) as a Secret Service agent on a mission to find two missing federal agents in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID. Every step closer to the truth makes him question if he will ever get out of Wayward Pines alive.

It’s not often the case where a new show will deliver on its promises and then continue to get even better week after week, as is the case here. I feel confident the season finale won’t be letting us down—I anticipate it’ll leave us satisfied and hungry for more at the same time. I’ll spoil one thing and that is this; there are rules to living in Wayward Pines.

1. Enjoy your life in Wayward Pines
2. Be happy
3. Work hard
4. Always answer the phone if it rings
5. Do not discuss the past
6. Do not discuss your life before
7. Do not try to leave

Unlike some other mystery shows of late, Wayward Pines never leaves you hanging for long. The mysteries are solved just as new ones are introduced—it makes for a very satisfying and engaging experience.

So I encourage you to catch up—watching the first 9 episodes on FOX.com is one easy way—and then join us fans in watching the season finale so that the network gets the number of eyeballs it’s looking for and brings the show back for another season.  That is, unless you’d rather just watch a lawyer/doctor/cop/fireman/politician struggling with a love/family/work triangle instead—’cause I think the networks always have a few hundred of those waiting in the wings.

If you’d like a little more background on the show, check out Geekscape’s original piece from the Wayward Pines‘ debut by Dennis Finocchiaro. If you’re just looking for a little visual tease, here’s a replay of FOX’s trailer:

Remember this; there are no crickets in Wayward Pines.

“About bloody well time!” were the words on the lips of many BBC America viewers and fans of Orphan Black when the announcement came that, after long last, Tatiana Maslany was finally being nominated as Lead Actress in a Drama Series for the 67th Emmy Awards.

We wish you could hear the screaming in BBC America’s office just after 11:30 a.m. as Tatiana’s name was read… because we could hear you — loud, proud, and online.

I mean, Canada has already given her her own street, for crying out loud!

Her snubs for the nomination the last couple years have come as quite a shock to most anyone who’s seen the show. It’s not that she’s turning in a great performance each episode; it’s that she’s nailing like 10 different characters and counting—in one show! Geeking out actor-wise, it’s amazing to watch her change vocal intonation, accent, countenance, total physicality and on and on. It took me several episodes before it hit me that these different clones I was following were all the same actress—I mean, I knew it going in but completely forgot about it as I was pulled into the various storylines; each character felt so vastly different. That’s acting at it’s finest.

Maslany will now face Claire Danes (Homeland), Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) and Robin Wright (House of Cards) in the Lead Actress category this year. Amazing performances from all of them but—and let me be clear—just one each.

I bet Gareth Edwards and the crew working on the Star Wars spin-off under development are kicking themselves if rumors are true that they really have passed over Maslany for the lead. (Here’s hoping, for all our sakes, that it’s not too late to still make it happen.)

BBC America were quick to congratulate their star:

You can check out our full list of 67th Emmy Awards nominees here. And if for some reason you’re one of the sorry few still not acquainted with Tatiana please allow me to let Seth Meyers introduce you (and then go watch Orphan Black):

Go #CloneClub!

Briefly: Finally, finally, finally, we’ve received our first look at the Cinemax adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s Outcast.

The TV adaptation was in the works before the first issue of the comic even hit store shelves. Not surprising at all, based on the popularity of The Walking Dead, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that Outcast, while a bit slow to get off the ground, has been a fantastic read so far.

Outcast focuses on Kyle Barnes, a man who has been plagued by possession for his entire life, and begins a journey to discover why. Kyle will be portrayed by Gone Girl actor Patrick Fugit. Expanded cast includes Philip Glenister as Reverend Anderson, a hard drinking, hard gambling West Virginian evangelical preacher who believes he’s a soldier in God’s holy war against evil, and Gabriel Bateman as Joshua Austin, a young boy who lives across town who appears to be possessed by a demon and has a mysterious connection to Kyle.

Take a look at the teaser trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the series. Outcast‘s 10-episode first season hits Cinemax in 2016!

The boomstick of awesome was unleashed on a room full of primitive screwheads with the announcement of Ash vs Evil Dead the series debuting on Starz October 31—yes, Halloween! The fancypants Mr. Bruce Campbell (a.k.a. Ash Williams) joined Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi and Ivan Raimi as well as Executive Producer of the new series, Craig DiGregorio (Reaper, Chuck), and Lucy Lawless who will play Ruby Knowby.

Ash—I mean, Bruce—gave us some sugar and elaborated on what was referred to as the equivalent of an hours-long mega movie in episodes, “. . .They need to be let loose, like the savage beasts that they are. And the only way that we can bring you the carnage and mayhem that you truly deserve is to be on a network like Starz where they don’t have a problem with. . . anything.” To paraphrase the jabber-mouths, when asked if there will be more seasons—yes, as long as all the loyal jolly roger fans demonstrate to Starz how much they love the show. . . and Starz loves money, if you see what I’m driving at here, Einstein.

Now, let’s pause real quick so I can take my pants off and get comfortable here in these fruity-looms. Come on, you know you’re shocked that I was wearing any in the first place! Much better. Okay, you, shove a sock in your pie-hole and pay attention—your pants are optional—it’s time for a trailer break, baby.

https://youtu.be/unnLg1TPCYM

Groovy.

Listen, babe, if that there wasn’t enough to get your motor running you might be a few marbles shy of a full knife drawer. But I sure can sympathize if you little monkeys are thirsty for more, so I’ll leave you with Starz’s coverage of the full SDCC panel. Enjoy it or—if you’re a soulless deadite—don’t. I’ve got a whiskey bottle to go marinate in so I don’t really give a hoot about your touchy-feelies, sweet-cheeks. But—and this ain’t just the pillow talk, baby—you’ll dig it.

(better read with a British accent)

One of the brilliant things about San Diego Comic-Con is that it’s making life aces even if you’re not jammy enough to be there getting gobsmacked directly.

Sure, if you’re at the Con you can pick up the exclusive Doctor Who comic (covers’ art by Alice X. Zhang) and you’re likely jolly well delighted to be the first to get the scrummy scoop first-hand on the Whovian chapter of LEGO Dimensions. . . Let us pause to reflect on the trailer:

However, you’re no damp squib if you’re not arse over elbow with the makeuped and costumed in Southern California—you’ll just need a smidge of patience for your fix.

If, like me, you’ve been suffering doldrums waiting yonks for the good Doctor’s return to the telly then it may please you to hear the announcement out of SDCC 2015 that we only have to make it a bit further—September 19, Doctor Who returns! While the news of Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams’s appearance is now officially confirmed, showrunner Steven Moffat isn’t dropping much in the way of more clues. (Judging only by the cracking trailer, I’m going to guess she’s Zorro.)

Fancy a dekko at the series 9 trailer?—it’ll put the colour back in your cheeks.

Blinding! Not enough? Feast your hungry little skull orbs on these highlights from the panel. Pip pip now, off you pop.

If you’ve ever attended San Diego Comic Con, or ANY kind of convention for that matter, then you’ll know how difficult it can be to get around. From the massive crowds, to the tedious crosswalks (Twilight fans don’t stop for red lights) it can get tiring. Well USA and Uber have teamed up to bring attendees of SDCC 2015 some pretty sweet rides featuring the new show, The Colony.

The COLONY “Transportation Domination” will provide Comic-Con attendees with complimentary rides using a fleet of hundreds of COLONY branded units including military vehicles and SUVs, bicycles from 23 DecoBike stations and pedicabs, beginning Thursday, July 9 and continuing through Saturday, July 11 from 10:00 AM –10:00 PM PT daily.  The massive squadron of custom-designed COLONY branded military vehicles and SUVs will be available for request via the Uber app by selecting the COLONY option.   Additionally, one lucky participant will win a ride with COLONY creators Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “Bates Motel”) and Ryan Condal (“Hercules”).  Fans can enter by following @ColonyUSA on Twitter and using the hashtags #ColonySDCC and#UberColonySweeps.

On top of that, there will be a team of the shows Transit Authority enforcers roaming the Gaslamp District. If you’re around and see any of these red-hatted gentlemen snag a selfie with them and share it with the hashtag #RedhatRewards. You’ll get your hands on some free food from around the convention area. And free food is the next best thing, right after free transportation.

NBC had this to say

We have been tremendously proud of Hannibal over its three seasons,” NBC said in a statement. Bryan Fuller and his team of writers and producers, as well as our incredible actors, have brought a visual palette of storytelling that has been second to none in all of television — broadcast or cable. We thank Gaumont and everyone involved in the show for their tireless efforts that have made Hannibal an incredible experience for audiences around the world.

Showrunner Bryan Fuller released his own statement today

NBC has allowed us to craft a television series that no other broadcast network would have dared, and kept us on the air for three seasons despite Cancellation Bear Chow ratings and images that would have shredded the eyeballs of lesser Standards & Practices enforcers. Jen Salke and her team have been fantastic partners and creatively supportive beyond measure. Hannibal is finishing his last course at NBC’s table this summer, but a hungry cannibal can always dine again. And personally, I look forward to my next meal with NBC.

NBC does plan to continue with the release of the remaining 10 episodes, and they will be released at the normal time of 10 PM on Thursdays.

Briefly: Yep, a Scream TV series is incoming, and it launches on June 30th. The show looks cheesy-as-hell in classic Scream fashion, which could be exactly what television needs right now, amidst all of the gritty, dark, depressing series that are so prominent today.

The official tagline for the series is “Everyone has secrets. Everyone tells lies. Everyone is fair game,” and I have to say that, even though I don’t really remember Scream (I was a young boy when the first film released), I’m intrigued by the self-aware musings of the series.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be watching when Scream releases on June 30th!

What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past.

Briefly: We’re just a few weeks away from the holy-crap-I-can’t-wait-for-it return of HBO’s True Detective, and following the second season’s first trailer from a few weeks back, and the recent character posters, the network has debuted two new trailers for the upcoming episodes

This season’s tagline is “We get the world we deserve”, and creator Nic Pizzolatto stated this year was all about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”

This season, “A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA County. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life’s work, while his wife and closest ally (Kelly Reilly), struggles with his choices and her own. Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective often at odds with the system she serves, while Taylor Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol who discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars.”

Can’t really say I’m surprised about this one. The hugely popular Netflix original series, Daredevil , is getting greenlit for a second season.

After only 11 days from it’s premiere, Netflix saw the overwhelming success and decided to fund the next installment, with some crew changes. Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampie Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) are now on board as LEAD showrunners with the project.

Rumor has it that production may start as early as July which moves it parallel with Luke Cage and ahead of Iron Fist and Defenders.

Looks like ABC and Marvel want to keep the Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. money train a going.

Deadline reported just moments ago that the spinoff series will star Adrianne Palicki & Nick Blood. They will be reprising their repsective roles as Mockingbird and Lance Hunter.

According to Deadline, the spinoff series will be setup by events in the current season of Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s still speculation whether it has anything to do with the teased hidden plot we’ve been given.

More details will be released once a script has been given as ABC says they will not be giving a greenlight until they have one in hand.

What are you thoughts on this possible spinoff series? Do you think Marvel is fragmenting their universe too much or spreading their creative talent too thin with all of these projects? We’d love to hear your opinion!

Briefly: I had no idea that this existed, and if it weren’t for the iPhones in this first trailer, I’d likely have mistaken it for something from the 1990’s.

Marvel and Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ is a 13 episode masterpiece. From the incredible performances to the perfectly picked classic Daredevil moments from the past 40 years, it changes the game for comic book adaptations. But what did you miss? How is this going to shape things to come for the great Marvel Cinematic Universe? Luckily, Ian Kerner is here to help me make sense of what I argue is the greatest thing Marvel has produced yet!
