After a mysterious announcement a few weeks ago, followed by some intriguing videos afterwards (here, here, here, and here), Sony is finally ready to show us the future of Playstation.

Nothing is guaranteed of course, but the world is widely expecting the company to announce and unveil the Playstation 4. Sony has been kind enough to provide a live stream of the event, which is embedded below!

The keynote is set to begin a 6PM Eastern! Enjoy, and let us know your thoughts below!

You know the drill by now. Following Sony’s PS1 and PS2 videos from earlier in the week, a Playstation 3 follow-up was released late last night. As expected, the video takes us from the PS3’s announcement at E3 2005, right to today, in which you’re hopefully playing Ni No Kuni.

Take a trip down memory lane with the video below, and let us know what you think!

All of these videos are ramping up to the ‘Future of Playstation’ presentation on Wednesday night. Sony is widely expected to unveil a PS3 successor during the keynote. Everyone’s expecting it, but only time will tell! What do you think will be announced?

So… Planning on picking up a PS4?

On Friday, Sony Computer Entertainment revealed a neat teaser for their upcoming keynote presentation (this Wednesday at 6PM ET). The video was a How It’s Made style look at the beginning of the Playstation brand, through to the end of the first Playstation’s lifecycle. The teaser sealed the deal for me, and I now firmly believe that Wednesday’s announcement will include new Playstation hardware. I also guessed that we’d be seeing Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 videos before Wednesday arrived.

The PS2 video has been released; titled Evolution of Playstation: Playstation 2. The content is very similar to that of the first video, but of course chronicling the life of the second generation console. Check it out below, and let us know what you think!

Are you looking forward to Wednesday’s announcement? When do you think the PS3 video will drop? Is that leaked controller the real thing?

In early February, Sony invited all of us to a special presentation about the future of Playstation. The internet immediately went wild with speculation that the announcement of a fourth Playstation console was imminent; the Wall Street Journal also confirmed the speculation with a reliable source.

I didn’t believe it at first, but after seeing today’s follow-up teaser, I’m not sure what else it could be; watch the video below and you’ll see what I mean!

Images of an apparently legitimate prototype controller have also made their way online. It looks similar to the DualShock we know and love, but with an intriguing touch panel in the centre. You’ll have to decide for yourself whether or not you believe this one, but multiple sources have confirmed that it’s a real (though early) prototype.

Sony’s presentation will stream live this Wednesday, February 20th at 6PM Eastern. Will you be watching? Will you be disappointed if we don’t see a new console? Sound out below!

Former Sony UK employee, Kenny Linder, was talking the talk recently on the NeoGaf Forums. He confirms that the production of the newest game from Team Ico, The Last Guardian, has been moved to the PS4 and has been on that platform for some time.

Couple this with the announcement from the Lead Designer,  Fumitu Ueda, saying that the game is still being worked on and will be released, I would be surprised to NOT see any mention of it at Sony’s big press event next Wednesday.

Be sure to check back here on the 20th so we can dish out more details of what Sony is announcing, Lets pray that they don’t lock down the system from used game play.

Not too long ago director Marc Webb recently revealed that there would be a few new alterations to the suit in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel. He revealed that there would be “bigger eyes” and “gnarly web shooters” for the new suit. Well, as you can see from the video that the director tweeted earlier there are definitely larger eyes on this suit that are closer to the “classic” look of the hero.

The sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is set to hit theaters May 2, 2014.

When it was revealed that Paul Giamatti would be joining the cast of the upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, there was also word that British actress Felicity Jones was in talks to join the film as well. Now, in an interview with Dutch website RTL Netherlands, Felicity Jones has confirmed that she will indeed star in the highly anticipated sequel. The actress told the site:

“I’ve never done a superhero movie. It’s very nice to you as an actor in several worlds to go and to experiment.”

The actress refused to reveal to the site just who she will be playing in the film. While she could possibly just have a small role in the film, the secrecy may lead many to believe she could have a bigger role than expected. With Marc Webb building a Spider-verse there’s a good number of characters the actress could be playing. Let the speculation commence!

The sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is set to hit theaters May 2nd, 2014.

The first official synopsis has been released for Marc Webb’s upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man and confirms that Paul Giamatti has joined the cast of the film as well as the addition of Colm Feore (Thor). Could Feore possibly be playing the role of Norman Osborn? Check out the press release below.

New York, February 5, 2013 – Columbia Pictures announced today that filming has begun on The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2 in New York. The film is the first in the history of the franchise that will be filmed entirely in New York City and New York State.

The sequel to last year’s critical and box office hit The Amazing Spider-Man, the film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field.

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers.

The film’s key behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Dan Mindel, production designer Mark Friedberg, editors Pietro Scalia and Elliot Graham, and costume designer Deborah L. Scott.

The sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man story is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.

Late last night, Sony released an intriguing teaser to their YouTube channel, inviting all of us to see the future of Playstation in just a few weeks.

The internet (being the internet) immediately went wild with speculation that in just 20 days, the next iteration of the Playstation will be revealed. Rumours of the impeding launch however, have been running rampant for the better part of a year.

The Wall Street Journal has apparently confirmed with a reliable source that February 20th will indeed see the anticipated console’s revelation, and that the newest Playstation will be available for purchase before the year’s end.

Are you ready for a new Playstation? Do you believe that the Playstation 4 will be revealed in just a few weeks, or will Sony simply be showing this year’s lineup of AAA PS3 titles? What kind of features would you like to see available if a new console was announced?

Maybe we’ll get really lucky, and Sony will release a new version of Home.

After 12 beautiful years, it seems as though death has come for Sony’s Playstation 2. The console reigned king (or queen!) for the better part of a decade and touched the virtual lives of millions all over the world.

I (Derek) was barely 10 years old on the day the Playstation 2 launched. Today, just days after Sony announced that all production had been halted on the once-powerful titan, I’m just weeks away from turning 23.

The system may be dead, but after over a decade of games and sequels, you better believe there are some memories. We sent the word out to the Geekscape staff of the console’s termination, and these are some of the favourite moments and games that were sent back. Enjoy, and please (please!) share your own below!

PS2, we all thank you for your years of service. Rest now, you’ve earned it.

I’ve never considered myself much of a gamer. After my much beloved, ahead-of-its-time Dreamcast turned out to be a failed investment (Editor’s Note: What ‘chu talking about failed investment, I play my Dreamcast all the time! -DK), I more or less turned my back on the whole shebang. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have a few fond memories of the Playstation 2’s glory days.

TGS trailer for 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3

Unlike many talking about it now, they were more often than not enjoyed with me as a viewer and not an active participant. I would often sit around and watch my brother or other friends play through the latest installment of the Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy franchises and relish in the cut scenes, if not the gameplay itself. While you may scoff at that (call me a “fake nerd girl” or some other tripe), I do believe that this will be a great part of the PS2’s legacy. It helped pave the way to make video games watchable to the non-gamer. Opening up typically one or two player worlds to the voyeur by bringing a level of cinema to the gaming world that may have been attempted in previous consoles, but was not yet up to snuff.

The fact that it plays DVDs and CDs gave it an additional utility to those like me, since I only played non-fighting games about two times a year.

Like many, I bought the PS2 for one game and one game only: Grand Theft Auto 3. In grad school, I was too broke to own a PS2 during GTA 3’s release, but my neighbor owned it and I would constantly make excuses to go play. Was this really the new version of the overhead GTA I used to love playing on the PC? Yes. It was. And it was so much better.

Trailer for 2001’s Grand Theft Auto III

Not only did the 3/4 view and open world map make Liberty City and every GTA locale after it come to life but it also put you in the action in a way I’d never experienced before. The streets teamed with possibilities, you could spend hours off mission just trying things out or pushing your Wanted Meter and the 80s Scarface inspired soundtrack gave the game an attitude and a pulse that the previous GTA games had been missing. And of course, the game map was massive for its time. It was very easy to get lost in it. While Vice City added a slick style to the franchise and San Andreas blew the doors off of the entire map and made nearly anything possible, I still have a soft place in my cold, crime ridden heart for the original PS2 release.

The PS2 gave me so many fond memories of hunting in Shadow of the Colossus and bouncing around with my friends Ratchet and Clank, but nothing comes close to hitting the hard streets of Liberty City.

Goodbye, old friend.

Suikoden III: I really don’t know how many times I’ve played this game in all honesty. I’ve had to replay what is hands down one of the greatest RPG’s of all time numerous times. The game’s complex plot is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, with a plot twist that no one could ever expect. Yes, a PS2 game with an unpredictable plot and beautiful visuals mixed with a superb soundtrack.

Intro video for 2002’s Suikoden III

You thought some other game was the best PS2 RPG? Yeah, you thought wrong. The game won both GameSpot and IGN’s RPG of the Year for 2002. No, but seriously. If you haven’t played this one you should. It rules. The end. This is where I throw down the mic and walk away.

I was never huge Playstation or Playstation 2 fan. I’ve never owned a Sony console other than the PSP. I’ve always been a Nintendo and PC gamer, so when I was asked the question for what my favorite Playstation 2 moment was, I reply with my normal snark. I soon realized I have one vivid and specific moment with the device that I will always remember.

Trailer for 2002’s Final Fantasy X

It was 2002 and I was invited to a friends house for debauchery and games. I had seen a PS2 before but never really gave them a chance. As the night grew on my buddy sat me down with a copy of Final Fantasy 10 and said “HAVE AT IT!”. I was hooked. The graphics, the gameplay, the world, the narrative and the characters were all amazing. I was experiencing a game that was unlike any I’ve really played before at that time. As the night went on my host soon fell asleep and I continued to play long into the night. When he woke me up the next morning, he had a shocked look on his face and said “How late did you stay up? You made it all the way to the airship!”. Turns out I am some sort of FFX savant. I will always remember that night playing my first PS2 game, and ultimately my favorite Final Fantasy game.

Never forget the PS2!

As I mentioned above, I was just 10 years old when the Playstation 2 was launched. The system’s introduction and evolution means a lot to me, as this was the first console I ever purchased with my own money, and it was the Playstation 2 that grew me into the gamer that I am today.

That being said, I had too many favourite games for the console to narrow it down to just one. From Okami to every Final Fantasy (well, except XI), every Metal Gear and Silent Hill, everything from Team Ico and more, there are just too many now-classic titles to even list.

Intro video from 2002’s Rygar: The Legendary Adventure

My most memorable moments with my PS2 were also some of my first. It had taken me nearly a year to save up for my own PS2, and after purchasing the costly console, I had little money left for any actual software. I took to the bargain bin, and came across a title that was sent there far too soon: Rygar: The Legendary Adventure. Rygar was a character that was older than I was, and I’d never heard of him.

The game was brilliant, and as it would be some time before I had the funds to buy another game, I play Rygar over and over and over again. Rygar: The Legendary Adventure was far ahead of its time, with gorgeous graphics (especially for a 2002 title), amazing gameplay mechanics (the game felt like a slightly less violent God of War, just three years before that title would see the light of day), and a story deep rooted in Greek and Roman mythology. Maybe it’s drilled into my brain from my dozens of playthroughs, but Rygar: The Legendary Adventure was one of the most memorable titles for me in the PS2’s lifecycle. Apparently a few other people liked it too, as the game later got a Wii rerelease, and is now available on
PSN!

Thanks for the memories, and thanks for never breaking down on me!

Sony has tapped Seth Lochhead, who co-wrote the film Hanna, to work on their upcoming adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game Shadow Of The Colossus. Josh Trank (Chronicle) is currently attached to direct the film and will oversee the writing of the script. The original draft of the script was written by Justin Marks back in 2009.

The story of Shadow Of The Colossus deals with a young man who thinks his lover has died, and desperate to bring her back, he makes a deal with a demon resurrect her – but only if he slays 16 giant creatures known as Colossi first. There is currently no casting or release date for the film.

Ever since The Last of Us was announced all the way back in December of last year, I’ve been eagerly awaiting each piece of footage, every bit of news, every single image… you get the picture: I’m excited as hell for this game.

As many of you are aware, just four nights ago Spike TV aired their annual Video Game Awards (the very same awards where The Last of Us was announced). A new trailer for the game was shown, and the official release date was also announced! The Last of Us will hit shelves on May 17th, 2012.

That very same preview has now officially been release online! Check it out below, and let us know what you think!

Honestly, The Last of Us looks absolutely incredible. I’m still bewildered that any game from this generation can even look like this. I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

It seems that another character from Peter Parker’s universe will be joining him on screen in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. According to the website of actor and stuntman Asim Ahmad, he has signed on to join the cast of the film in a supporting role as Professor Michael Morbius.

He apparently has also confirmed this news to writer Joe Keatinge, the writer behind the new ongoing Morbius: The Living Vampire series. The actor has had small roles in a numbver of films such as Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, The Expendables 2 and will also be appearing in next year’s Star Trek Into Darkness.

While the actor has signed on for the role of Morbius, this does not mean he will be transforming into a vampire in the film. As he has stated, it’s a supporting role and if you played the movie tie-in video game you would know that Morbius is an employee of Oscorp. We will be sure to keep you updated as more details arise.

Earlier today alongside the announcement that actor Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) has officially signed on to play Harry Osborn in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, director Marc Webb also announced that Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx has also signed on for the sequel to play the super-villain Electro in the film. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight just hours after Sony’s press release hit, Foxx commented on his excitement for the film:

“Electro is a great character! I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked. I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he’s a … genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on.”

While many may frown upon this casting, I believe we are in for a treat here. Foxx is a fantastic actor who I believe will blow many away with his performance. Remember people, we also said that Heather Ledger was wrong for a certain role when they cast him.

The currently untitled sequel will be hitting theaters May 2, 2014.

Casting is currently underway for the highly anticipated sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. Recently it was revealed that actors were being screen tested for the role of Harry Osborn and director Marc Webb has just revealed via Twitter who they have chosen for the role:

The official press release from Sony (which also confirms that Jamie Foxx will indeed be playing Electro):

Dane DeHaan will join the cast of the next installment of The Amazing Spider-Man™ along side Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Shailene Woodley as Columbia Pictures prepares to begin production on the next chapter of the blockbuster franchise, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of production for the studio.

The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be directed by Marc Webb and produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.

The casting of DeHaan as Harry Osborn was confirmed this morning in a tweet by Webb (@MarcW) who wrote “Meet Harry Osborn. So excited to have him on board. @danedehaan.”

“Dane is an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast,” Webb said.

The new film in the Spider-Man saga is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014. Production will begin in early 2013 in New York.

Webb, Garfield and Stone previously teamed on this summer’s blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man, which has taken in more than $751 million worldwide.

DeHaan caught moviegoers’ attention with his performances in four 2012 releases: Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, opposite Daniel Day-Lewis and Lukas Haas; John Hillcoat’s Lawless, alongside Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Jason Clarke; Bradley Rust Gray’s Jack & Diane, with Juno Temple and Riley Keough; and one of the year’s biggest sleeper hits, the adventure thriller Chronicle, directed by Josh Trank. He began his film career with director John Sayles and actor Chris Cooper in Amigo.

DeHaan next stars in Place Beyond the Pines alongside Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling. In addition he will star in Atom Egoyan’s Devil’s Knot, with Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, about the fate of the West Memphis Three; and John Krokidas’ Kill Your Darlings, with Jack Huston, Daniel Radcliffe, Ben Foster, and Kyra Sedgwick, set in 1944 amidst the Beat Generation.

Mr. DeHaan first came to industry attention with his portrayal of Jesse in the third season of the critically applauded drama series In Treatment, starring alongside Gabriel Byrne. This was followed by a guest arc in the fourth season of the popular horror series True Blood.

In 2010, he received an Obie Award for his performance in Annie Baker’s The Aliens, directed by Sam Gold. The Rattlestick Theater production was cited as “Play of the Year” by The New York Times. Mr. DeHaan made his Broadway debut in with American Buffalo, Robert Falls’ 2008 staging of the classic David Mamet play.

So, does this mean we will soon learn more about who will be playing Norman Osborn? Keep checking back because we will be sure to keep you updated.

Sony Pictures have debuted a new still image from Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9) highly anticipated sci-fi film Elysium, featuring Matt Damon. This image further proves that if you take an actor and make him bald…he looks like a bad ass. No, seriously. Think about it.

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Elysium hits theaters August 9th, 2013.

Well, it looks like we can stop with Electro as being the rumored villain for the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. According to Variety, Sony are meeting with actors to play the role and the most interesting of these is Jamie Foxx. There isn’t much word other than at this point.  It’s also being said that Homeland actor Damien Lewis was also up for the role at one point.

The actor also tweeted the following last night to which no one paid any mind:

Could that be a hint that they’ve already got the costume ready to go? Well, that’s besides the point here. Before you have a nerd rage, remember that just because an actor is in talks for a role does not mean that he has in the bag just yet. But Foxx is a fantastic actor and there has been plenty of times that we have doubted actors in these roles (See: Heath Ledger), so we should wait and just see how this one turns out. This could turn out to be pretty damn interesting.

UPDATE: While talking to Fandango about the upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray release of The Amazing Spider-Man Webb was asked about the news.

“What?!” Webb replied when I asked him about the casting news. The director made it clear he was feigning ignorance, and followed up with a very political (yet calculatedly non-committal) answer.

“Look, Jamie Foxx is a genius actor, and I think he’s electrifying. That’s my standard quote right now,” Webb told me, with a laugh. “But I think he’s a brilliant actor. From his work back in In Living Color to Ray to what he did in Ali, he’s just one of the great character actors of our generation.”

While Webb did not confirm nor deny anything, his use of the word electrifying is definitely interesting.

Today I came across a mysterious video put up on Playstations YouTube account. It is the sequel to an even more mysterious video posted on the 18th. Lets take a peak at “The Reload” and “The Arrival”.

Lets go back and deconstruct what we see. In the first video there isn’t much there, we are greeted by a tough, solemn looking lady who is holding a gun. She appears to be at a hotel front desk, when a stranger off screen can be heard walking in. The sound electricity popping can be heard quickly after.

In the second video we see the same lady typing a letter in a foreign looking language, one that reminds me of “WingDings” font from MS-Word. A jeep arrives outfront and she proceeds to unlock a gate for the driver.

What does this all mean? Well my best guess is that these are ads for Playstation Allstars Battle Royale. The first video we can assume that the electricity man is Cole MacGrath from the inFamous games and the second guy is most likely Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series.

The date at the end you ask? Well it coincides with the public beta of Playstations Allstars Battle Royale. So if this is any else, you can color me shocked. I will be sure to keep you updated when more of these mysteries come out.

Not long ago it was revealed that  Shailene Woodley (The Decendents) was in talks to join the cast of the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man as Mary-Jane Watson. Earlier today, it was revealed that the actress had signed on for the lead role in Lionsgate’s adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent. The deal led to speculation that the actress would not have time to play Mary-Jane Watson in the sequel. Seems that isn’t the case at all according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The site reports that Woodley has actually already nabbed the role, which will actually only be a small part in the second film but “blossoms into an integral lead for the planned third movie as the studio seeks to build to the classic “Death of Gwen Stacy” story.” Being that we may end up only seeing her for a minor amount of time in the film, could Webb be bringing to life the classic “Face It Tiger. You Just Hit The Jackpot!” scene?

Warner Bros. has announced that they will be moving up Bryan Singer’s Jack The Giant Slayer, which was originally titled Jack The Giant Killer, three weeks earlier into theaters than expected. The film will now be released on March 1st, 2013, the date originally held by Elysium.

So, why the new title for the film? Well, apparently it’s said that this title is more family friendly. I don’t know about that one, but it definitely doesn’t take away my interest in the film starring Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane and Bill Nighy.

Sony Pictures has chosen to move the release date for Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi flick Elysium to August 9, 2013. That spot was up until today the release date for one of their other big releases, Jose Padhila’s RoboCop, which has been moved back to February 7, 2014. That August date is roughly around the same time that Sony released Blomkamp’s first feature District 9 back in 2009.

District 9 went on to gross $37.4 million on opening weekend and went on to bring in roughyl $200M-plus worldwide. Sony definitely has high expectations for Elysium which was originally set to hit theaters in March. This is actually a smart move on Sony’s part in regards to both films. It will allow Elysium to bring in more of that summer box office money while the RoboCop team is given more time to market and test the film and possibly go back for re-shoots if needed. So, uh by the way…when should we expect to actually see that Elysium trailer Sony?

Variety reports that Sony Pictures and Escape Artists have hired Richard Wenk (co-writer of The Expendables 2) to rewrite their He-Man pic, Masters Of The Universe. Alex Litvak and Mike Finch wrote the initial draft of the script, which was originally titled “Grayskull”.

Wenk has most recently penned the script for Sony’s The Equalizer, which is a big screen remake of the television series that will star Denzel Washington. He has also worked on many action-based scripts, so don’t worry about the action in this flick, which also include 16 Blocks and The Mechanic. Jon M. Chu (GI Joe: Retaliation) is set to direct the movie which “follows a young prince who becomes a warrior and sets out to defeat the evil Skeletor and fulfill his destiny as He-Man”. Let’s see if they can make a legit flick out of a somewhat cheesy property.

With it’s release date fast approaching, Sony has released a short new trailer for Skyfall featuring Adele’s theme song, which is sure to go down as a classic Bond theme. It doesn’t feature much new footage but it is a pretty damn cool short trailer for the 23rd Bond flick.

Skyfall reports for duty November 9th in US, and on October 26th in the UK and Ireland.

In an announcement that surprised nobody, Columbia Pictures announced today that both Andrew Garfield and Mark Webb will be coming back for a sequel to this years The Amazing Spider-Man.

The first film did quite well both critically and financially. The Amazing Spider-Man currently holds a 73% Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes, and has raked in over $750 Million at the box office.

Emma Stone has not yet been confirmed, but is expecting to reprise her role as Gwen Stacy in the currently untitled sequel.

Whatever it’s called, the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is set to begin production early next year, and will swing into theatres on May 2nd, 2014.

Are you excited for this news? The community seems pretty torn on the first film. How did you feel about it?

TGS is upon us, and so are some cool announcements!

Rumored since early summer, and leaked shortly after that, Sony has now made the new PS3 official!

Sony’s latest will come in 250Gb and 500Gb flavors (no word yet on expandability, a huge plus to the current slim). The new unit is also 20% slimmer than the current slim, as well as 25% lighter (for all the times you carry it around).

Looks like this new model loses the lovely slot loading drive however, and falls back to a more dated tray system. Overall though, the system looks great, and is sure to ease new gamers in with the announced bundles.

The new PS3 will hit shelves on September 25th.

From the press release:

In order to maintain the superior gaming experiences that you expect from us here at PlayStation, we are always looking for ways to change and evolve with your gaming behavior. You might remember the smaller models that we launched for PlayStation 2 and PSP (PlayStation Portable), and we know that many of you love the opportunity to add these streamlined models to your home. Additionally, as developers continue to release deep and rich digital gaming content, providing an option for larger HDD is essential, especially for games with large DLC packs, and full game downloads, as well as personal entertainment content. The biggest and best games live on PS3 this holiday season, and the new PS3 is the perfect way to play.

We are also excited to announce that the launch of this new PS3 model will include incredible additional value. The 250GB PS3 will be available on September 25th for $269.99 (MSRP) as part of a limited edition bundle featuring UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception: Game of the Year Edition and a voucher for more than $30 worth of bonus digital content for the highly acclaimed digital title, DUST 514. This bundle offers more than $70 in total combined value.

What do you think of the new unit? Time to add a PS3 to your gaming array?

This is amazing news for all the Manimal fans out there!

Not a fan? Never heard of it? Lets refresh your memorythe opening narration of each episode went as follows.

Dr Jonathan Chase… wealthy, young, handsome. A man with the brightest of futures. A man with the darkest of pasts. From Africa’s deepest recesses, to the rarefied peaks of Tibet, heir to his father’s legacy and the world’s darkest mysteries. Jonathan Chase, master of the secrets that divide man from animal, animal from man… Manimal!

Manimal was an adventure series from NBC about a shape-shifting man who fought crime. It lasted for 8 episodes during 1983, and was likely never thought about again. Until now!

THR has reported than Manimal may soon be hitting the silver screen. Sony Pictures Animation have picked up the rights, and are planning a CG/Live action hybrid based on the forgotten shape-shifter.

The creator of Manimal, Glen Larson is even involved, and will serve as producer on the film. Sony is currently looking for a writer for the project, so maybe it’s time to dust off that fan fiction!

Are you down with the Manimal? Or is Hollywood simply running out of things to remake?

Sony today released two new TV spots for the upcoming fifth installment in the Resident Evil franchise.

This is the first footage I’ve seen from the film and I have to say it looks intriguing. I’ve always been a huge fan of the games, but have skipped the last few film offerings (Apocalypse left a bad taste in my mouth). Maybe it’s time to check them out.

Resident Evil: Retribution opens on September 14.

One of the draws that made LittleBigPlanet so charming is the ability to download costumes for Sackboy and Sackgirl to dress them up as your favorite charaters, or just goofy attire. With literally hundreds of costumes available, playing dress up with the little sacks can end up being pretty expensive. Well, good news for you obsessive costume collectors, they won’t be confined to one game anymore.

Both upcoming titles in the franchise, LittleBigPlanet Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting will support all costumes downloaded since the first game invaded our PS3s so many years ago. Or at least all of them will be available for them on Vita. Karting won’t support a small handful for some reason, including the popular Ezio outfit from Assassin’s Creed 2. Too bad, I was looking forward to stabbing people in the neck as I passed them on the track.

The ability to transfer won’t be available on day one as the team is still trying to properly integrate the past DLC into the new games, but it shouldn’t be too much longer after release.

LBP Vita is scheduled for a September 25th release, with Karting following suit on November 6th.

This is great news for me! ‘One Piece’, aka the anime that everyone is telling me to check out, is coming to Neon Alley this Fall. From the press release I just received from Viz Media, “Neon Alley is a new 24-hour dubbed & uncut anime channel launching this fall on the PS3, and is the first platform designed to be studio agnostic! Programming will include weekly exclusive premieres of the best anime titles fans love, alongside a mix of new cutting edge titles they didn’t know they were missing!

‘One Piece’, based on the massively popular manga by Eiichiro Oda, follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy on his quest to become the king of all pirates! With his intrepid crew, he journeys to find the greatest treasure on Earth, the Legendary One Piece!

Well, sign me up! Wait… I own a PS3. I’m already signed up!

If you’re like me and are holding out for a price drop before investing in Sony’s newest gaming handheld, it seems like we’ll be waiting for quite some time.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida stated that it’s “too soon” for a Vita price cut, despite lagging sales. While the electronics giant is looking for ways to cut the price of production, it’s not as simple as just slashing the price and hoping for the best.

“Of course, cost reduction is one area our engineering team is working on.” Mr. Yoshida went on to say, “But we just launched the platform earlier this year. It takes time to do so.”

For existing Vita owners starving for new content, Yoshida had a message for them too.

“From our perspective, we were very pleased to launch with many titles. Many people said we had the strongest launch line-up for a PlayStation platform. But it’s amazing how much more people want and how much content they consume.” He continued by saying, “the best way to realize the potential of the PS Vita platform is to provide the content.”

From my perspective, aside from Uncharted, Gravity Rush and Sound Shapes, I think the want for more content is more because of the severe lack of original content for the platform. Porting console games and calling it a day doesn’t count as providing meaningful content in my opinion, but hey, what do I know?

I’ve stated what I feel Sony should do to get the Vita on track. What do you think? Will a price drop convince you to buy? And is Sony taking too long to pull the trigger?
