Then there’s a serious crash, which looks to change everything.

Rush stars Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Brühl, Natalie Dormer, and Olivia Wilde. Watch the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, RUSH portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed—handsome English playboy James Hunt and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Niki Lauda.  Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, RUSH follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine now only do we get our first official look (even though sadly it’s a set image) from Thor: The Dark World, but we also get some new plot details from the upcoming sequel. The image features an armored up Chris Hemsworth as Thor and director Alan Taylor on set with some Asgardian warriors in the background.

While speaking with magazine executive producer Craig Kyle revealed that the events of the upcoming sequel will take place one year after The Avengers and two years after Thor.  He also revealed that at the start of the film that we will see Asgard battered by war and The Nine Realms beset “by rag-tag invaders known as The Maraunders”.

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Steven Spielberg’s upcoming adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson’s Robopocalypse is currently in the pre-production and casting process. Recently it was confirmed that Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) is on board for the film and Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) was in talks for the male lead. There was also talks that Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) was in negotiations for the female lead for the film and now the actress has confirmed that she is indeed on board for the film. The actress revealed to Empire:

“If Robopocalypse happens, I will be in it. And I believe it’s quite real, though you never want to hang your hat on anything.” While not giving away any details on her character, she reveals how she got the role. “Whenever I’m taking time off, I always joke to my team that I’m on vacation unless Steven Spielberg calls. And I was on vacation and Spielberg called. So I was like, ‘OK, put my money where my mouth is’.”

Robopocalypse is set to hit theaters April 25th, 2014.

So, for awhile now we have kind of known what Thor: The Dark World would be about but not quite the scope of it. Filming on Thor: The Dark World is still currently underway in London and today the first official synopsis for the Asgardian pic has been revealed including the full cast list.

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. Ben Whishaw, the young British actor who will be appearing in Cloud Atlas and taking on the role of Q in Skyfall, is currently in talks to join the cast of Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Robopocalypse.

The actor would play character named Lurker, a hacker who becomes involved in the human resistance against the robot uprising. No deal has been made, but the offer is on the table for Whishaw to take. Anne Hathaway and Chris Hemsworth are also in talks to join the cast. Former 20th Century Fox chairman and CEO Tom Rothman will produce the film and Drew Goddard will write the screenplay adaptation.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) is in negotiations for the female lead in Steven Spielberg’s Robopocalypse. She may be joining Chris Hemsworth (Thor), who has been previously reported as being in talks for the male lead in the film. The film is based on the book by Daniel H. Wilson.

Tom Rothman, who will be departing from his post as chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment will be producing the film. DreamWorks has been developing the property since 2009, when it acquired rights to Wilson’s then-unpublished manuscript about the fate of the human race following a robot uprising. Robopocalypse is currently set to hit theaters on April 24, 2014.

Filming on Thor: The Dark World is currently under-way in England and thanks to some pics SuperHeroHype has received we might have our first glimpse of The Dark World! It could technically be anything from ruins to pieces of Asgard or maybe even a gateway to Svartalfheim? In any case the following images are from the set in Bourne Woods, UK.

Local residents received a letter that informed them that a movie called Thursday Morning would be filming from August through September. The letter contained the following:

“We will be establishing a fictional village set in another realm, with yurts and village like dressing in the bowl. The sequence involves a battle between two kingdoms, ending in our comic book hero arriving to save the day,” the letter read. “The sequence will involve approximately 300 extras who will arrive in the early hours prior to call time to go through costume and makeup.”

Thor: The Dark World stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Christopher Eccleston. It’s being directed by Alan Taylor and is set for release on November 8th, 2013.

Another new cast addition has joined the upcoming sequel, Thor: The Dark World, which is currently filming overseas in London. Variety reports that British actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra) has joined the anticipated sequel and will be joining Christopher Eccleston, who will play Malekith The Accursed, as one of the lead villains of the film. Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be playing the villain Kurse.

“Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has joined the cast of Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” as one of the lead villains, playing the dual roles of Kurse and Algrim.”

The character Kurse was originally Algrim the Strong, one of the Dark Elves of the extra dimensional realm of Svartalfheim who served the Dark Elves’ ruler, Malekith the Accursed. While this was originally my least anticipated of Marvel Studios “Phase Two” movies, the recent cast additions have definitely been making me a bit more excited for it.

Thor: The Dark World smashes into theaters November 8, 2013.

So Kristen Stewart has been fired from being in the sequel to this Summer’s suprise hit Snow White and the Huntstman. You read that correctly; Snow White 2 won’t have Snow White actually in it.  According to the Hollywood Reporter, the sequel is now going to be reconceived as a spinoff movie only starring Chris Hemsworth’s Huntsman character. Right now it is still unclear whether director Rupert Sanders will return, though one source with ties to the production tells the Hollywood Reporter that he will. Screenwriter David Koepp however will not be coming back though for sure.

I actively did not like Snow White and the Huntsman, even though I really wanted to. Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen was amazing, as were the visuals. But Kristen Stewart was beyond miscast in this movie, and just dragged the whole thing down with her acting style of constant non expression. But It wasn’t just her fault, as Rupert Sander’s direction also sucked. But as much as I can’t stand Kristen Stewart as an actress, if she is being fired and Rupert Sanders is hired back, as the article suggests, this will be one of the biggest examples of “slut shaming” in recent Hollywood history.

There is no doubt that at least part of the reason that Snow White was a box office success was due to Stewart’s enormous fan base due to Twilight. Now that she has had an affair and cheated on her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson with her Snow White director Sanders, and is considered a horrible harpy by the Twilight fans because of it, she is getting fired from a franchise she starred in and helped make successful, at least financially. And the person she cheated with is getting to probably keep his job.  She’s a 22 year old girl mind you, and he was a 41 year old married man. As I said, I am no Kristen Stewart fan at all, but if she gets punished for her infidelity and her older, married partner in said infidelity essentially gets promoted, Universal is going to look horrible.

Yesterday we brought you guys the first poster and now we have the fist official trailer for the remake of Red Dawn! Wolverines!

In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.

Recently winning the “hottest actor” accolade in this year’s Total Film Hotlist Awards, Tom Hiddleston sat down with the magazine for a little q&a where he briefly comment on the upcoming Thor: The Dark World.

I don’t want to give too much away. But I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed. Alan Taylor’s vision of Thor 2 is utterly brilliant. The journey continues in the most epic dimension and proportion imaginable. It’s very, very exciting.

The best thing about being Loki is that he is my diametric opposite. Physically, he is a photo negative of who I am. Loki is dark and pale, and I am light and fair. Also spiritually I am not much like him either. Yet I feel an incredible freedom in playing him.

He is a combination of mercurial intellectual ability, emotional ambiguity, rakish charm, charisma and provocative wit. He has a wicked inclination to mischief, underneath which is a well of spiritual pain. Both these aspects are central to his depth as a character: his unashamed and perverse delight in creating chaos; and his capacity for raw emotional expression.

And – as my American friends tell me – he’s kind of a badass! He’s one of the richest, most rewarding, most fun characters I’ve ever played.

Underneath the steely cold veneer of his trickster charm is a certain vulnerability and sensitivity – the wounded fragility of an outcast brother and son. His mind IS a box of cats though! But I love him.

Last night me and fellow Scott Alminiana caught a midnight showing of Total Recall and during the trailers we both looked at each other and realized that we were about to see the trailer for Red Dawn. While the official trailer has not been released online yet I can tell you that it looks pretty damn good and very much like the original. And that’s a very good thing. What I can show is this teaser that Entertainment Tonight showed giving you guys a first look at it.

A few weeks ago, we speculated as to who the villains might be in Thor: The Dark World. Well guess what, we were right! Thor will indeed face off against Malekith The Accursed and his Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.

Deadline is reporting that Christopher Eccleston (the ninth Dr. Who and Destro in GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra) has been cast as Malekith The Accursed. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, and Anthony Hopkins are all set to reprise their roles from the first film and Zachary Levi has also joined the cast The sequel begins filming Thursday in the UK and is set for release Nov. 15, 2013.

Today USA Today showed the pictures from the remake of the 1984 classic Red Dawn. The film was shot in 2009 but was delayed due to MGM’s financial problems. The film is finally set to hit theaters on November 21st but not without some big changes having been made to the final film.

When it was shot four years ago it had a cast of then unknowns, some have since become break-out stars. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki,Isabel Lucas and Josh Peck. The film had an entirely different enemy army when it was shot but it has since been changed digitally for the final version as well as being re-edited.

“Originally it was the Chinese,” Hutcherson says. “And then there was the thought that the Chinese own most of the companies making movies and that maybe it wasn’t the best idea in the world.”

In the end, the attacking forces became the North Koreans (aided by the Chinese and Russians).

Like the original 1984 version communism is the ultimate villain. The first film starred a cast of then up and comers such as Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey (no body puts Baby in the corner), Lea Thompson, C. Thomas Howell, and introduced the world to Charlie Sheen. The film was set in Colorado and saw the cast play a group of teens who band together as “the Wolverines,” a guerilla unit, who fight an invasion of Soviet, Cuban and Nicaraguan forces at the dawn of World War III.  If you haven’t seen it I recommend you check it out. It’s currently available on Netflix Instant Streaming.

Apparently a recent casting call has gone out revealing that producers are looking for extras that are particular experts with fire. Could this possibly mean in the sequel we may see Thor and company exploring Muspelheim, the realm of eternal fire, home of the fire demons and their ruler Surtur?

It’s not entirely unlikely being that he was featured in the video game for the original movie. Maybe we will Thor travelling across the different dimensions? Maybe not. This is entirely speculation right now but would this be something you would want to see?

Rumor warning! This is not confirmed.

SuperHeroAuthority is reporting that we may just see the 35 minute longer ‘Directors Cut’ being released into theaters this summer in an attempt to knock ‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar’ off the top of the hill.

“The Avengers is sitting comfortably at No. 3 overall on both the domestic and International ticket sale charts but it seems both Marvel and Disney desire the No. 1 overall spot and a current rumor says they could be contemplating releasing The Avengers: Director’s Cut in theaters at the end of this summer.

Please remember this is from a ComicBook.com post and another Hollywood source who has heard this rumor and told SuperHero Authority this is a possibility but nothing has been confirmed to actually happen. Marvel and Disney have not said anything regarding this new rumor as well.

So, while this is a major rumor…I would definitely not rule it out as a possibility. Especially because of the fact that most of us have seen this movie at least 2-3 times already. Would we most likely assemble again with that additional 35 minutes of footage? Definitely.

And what comic fan wouldn’t love to see ‘The Avengers’ hit number one?

Heat Vision is reporting that Marvel Studios is in talks with Zachary Levi that would see him joining the cast of Thor 2. Levi would take over the role of Fandral, played by Josh Dallas in the first film.

Levi was actually in talks for the role in the first film but was unable to take the role due to his schedule on NBC’s Chuck. The role eventually went to Josh Dallas but now due to his commitments to ABC’s Once Upon a Time he is unable to reprise his role. Wow the tables have turned.

Thor 2 is set to begin filming next month, with Alan Taylor set to direct. Stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins are all set to reprise their roles and Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to play the villain in the sequel.

Thor 2 swings its way into theaters November 15, 2013

The Warriors Three with Josh Dallas (middle) as Fandral

Let’s be honest. We knew it was going to do good. But this good? As of today Marvels ‘The Avengers’ has become the third highest gross film domestically (knocking down ‘The Dark Knight’) and worldwide with a massive $1.331 billion taking the third place spot from ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows Part 2’.

The film has been smashing records ever since its massive release and doesn’t look like its done yet. Many people are wondering if it has what it takes to knock ‘Titanic’ off that second place spot. With a theatrical run that doesn’t look to be ending anytime soon and one more country to still be released in (‘The Avengers’ opens in Japan in August) it very well could. I know I plan on assembling again at least once.

It was announced around the same time that two movies based on the fictional character of Snow White would be released in 2012. First, there was Mirror Mirror, a lighthearted and quirky take on the Disney Princess. The other being Snow White and the Huntsman, Rupert Sanders’ dark and Grimm-like interpretation of the iconic story. Headlined by Kristen Stewart, the star of the Twilight franchise, along with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Charlize Theron, Sanders has everything imaginable at his disposal. But even with an Academy Award winning actress and one of the most famous stories ever created,  can the first-time director deliver?

Snow White and the Huntsman initially ventures back to the childhood of Snow White (played by Stewart). After the death of her mother, Snow White’s father falls victim to the luring charisma of the Queen (played by Theron). When the villainous woman murders him on their wedding night, the Queen overtakes the throne and the kingdom succumbs to evil. Eventually able to escape imprisonment from the Queen, Snow White must survive the dark forest and conjure up an army to reclaim the throne. With the aid of the Huntsman (played by Hemsworth) and seven dwarfs, Snow White attempts to restore peace and serenity throughout the land.

Director Rupert Sanders is given a large task with his directorial debut. Serving up a never-before-seen interpretation of a much anticipated blockbuster, the bar was set astronomically high. To his praise, Sanders delivers an astonishingly visual and profound journey into the childhood story that we all know so well. The director does a fantastic job of effectively using colors to set the mood for each and every scene. Easily the highlight of Snow White and the Huntsman, it’s no exaggeration to start talking about a possible Visual Effects nomination from the Academy. In addition to the film’s stunning visuals, actress Charlize Theron must once again be applauded for her magnificent work on screen. The remarkably gifted, Academy Award winning actress takes control of the film and shoulders all of the attention on herself. In doing so, she proves to be a much more reliable central character than the heroine Snow White. Theron effortlessly commands the screen and shows the audience multiple dimensions to the character of the Queen. In a similar approach to 2008’s superhero classic The Dark KnightSnow White and the Huntsman is a daring rendition that ultimately succeeds because of its elaborate focus on the villain.

Although the dark fairy tale manages to work well on screen, it does so with a few blemishes. Snow White and the Huntsman starts out strong and hits a lull in the second act. The audience is forced to sit through a mid-section that is much longer than it needs to be. Surprisingly, the body of the film adds minutes to the runtime without ever offering much to the story. Flooded with uninteresting subplots and other various nonsense, the middle portion pushes the level of unbearable. However, just moments before you’re ready to throw in the towel, Sanders introduces the dwarfs and the comical characters give a much needed boost of energy to the feature. From that moment on, the movie picks up and the audience has no need to ever look back. Furthermore, for all of the praise given to Theron, it becomes almost too easy to criticize the casting decision of Kristen Stewart as Snow White. Offering up about as much emotion as a paper clip, Stewart only makes sense as Snow White by her appearance alone. Luckily for Sanders, Theron dazzles and Hemsworth proves to be adequate enough in his role to help sustain the film.

For the massive level of excitement I had prior to viewing the film, Snow White and the Huntsman came just shy of meeting my expectations. That being said, I must give the movie the respect it deserves and recognize it as the solid work that it is. Stunningly visual and original, Snow White and the Huntsman is a winning debut effort from director Rupert Sanders and his entire team. If you’re eager to see the picture, then I suggest doing so. Chances are, you won’t leave the theatre bitter with your decision.

When MCDave can’t be found on Geekscape he’s usually lost at Movie Reviews By Dave

In the last issue of Empire Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege shared his thoughts on the success of “The Avengers” and a little bit about the future films. Primarily focusing on “Thor 2”.

Fiege on the success of “The Avengers” stated “I was just hoping it would beat the opening weekend of Iron Man 2, which was the biggest opening weekend for any Marvel Studios movie. We did 80 or 90 million above that. As the numbers started coming in on Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night, they just kept getting bigger and bigger, into areas I would never in a million years have believed.”

“The Avengers was not the finale for us,” making it clear the studio still has big plans ahead “It was a giant, giant marker, but it was never the finale. We are already well into the plan for the next phase of our little cinematic universe.” That next phase includes Thor 2, and Feige had this to say about what we should expect from the sequel. “We’re going to see the other side of Asgard. It’s not all polished and golden in this film. And the events of Avengers will have affected Thor for sure. His relationship with Loki will continue to evolve, and the biggest part is Natalie and Thor returning with Jane Foster”

After Loki’s failure in “The Avengers” and the threat made by The Other many speculated that Thanos would be the antagonist in Thors next outing. Fiege was quick to shoot that down and talk of a new villain (most likely played by Mads Mikkelson) “No, future, future. But there will be a major new villain. A major, major new antagonist…”

Could his wording be a hint? Many have begun speculating that it could be The Enchantress and The Executioner…

But could “future” indicate another “major” Marvel villain?

Guess we will have to wait and see.

“Thor 2” smashes into theatres November 13, 2013

With filming starting later on this summer the “Thor 2” casting has gone into full swing (pun…very much intended) Marvel is looking to choose the right actor for a certain villain role and has apparently set their eyes on Casino Royale baddie, Mads Mikkelsen.

Variety is reporting that Mads is up for a villainous role in Marvels “Thor 2”.

“It is unknown at this time what part he will play, but what is known is that his Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in the original, will still have a big part as an antagonist. Marvel and Disney declined to comment on the casting.”

Best known for his role as the villain in “Casino Royale,” Mikkelsen’s pic “The Hunt” recently bowed at Cannes. He’s currently shooting “The Neccessary Death of Charlie Countryman” starring Shia LaBeouf.

Let the speculation on his role begin!

Perhaps The Executioner? There has already been quite a bit of speculation as to The Enchantress being the villain.

Marvel has scheduled “Thor 2” for Nov. 15, 2013

It was more than two years ago that I first thought I would get a chance to see Cabin in the Woods. The film, shot in 2009, was rumored to be a secret screening at Fantastic Fest here in Austin. They were even handing out posters, each with phrase poking fun at horror tropes. “If you hear a loud noise outside….have sex.”

Alas, the rumors proved false, but the movie was supposed to come out in a few months anyway. Then MGM went bankrupt and Cabin in the Woods was shelved. A tough blow for the movie, and for the legion of Joss Whedon fans excited to see him and his crew take another shot at a feature length movie. Cut to this past weekend, two years later, where Cabin opened SXSW to near universal praise. I’d say it was worth the wait.

It’s tough to talk about the movie since much of the joy lies in the surprise. The less you know, the better. Unfortunately, the initial trailer, which I managed not to see until after viewing the movie, already gives away slightly too much. I’ll just say that Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard take your standard horror set up of a small group of college kids taking an ill advised vacation to the backwoods, and then proceed to deconstruct and then expand that into something jaw droppingly awesome.

The deconstruction is fun but, despite a unique premise, isn’t something particularly new. Ever since Scream this kind of meta commentary has become commonplace and audiences are well aware of the cliches. The recounting of horror movie rules doesn’t have the same effect as it did a decade ago. Just recently, movies like Behind the Mask and Tucker and Dale have found equally unique ways to cover the same ground. So while that bit is enjoyable, if that’s all Cabin was it wouldn’t have made much of an impact. The expansion, however, is spectacular. Just when you think you know what the movie is, it turns to something else and rides a geek adrenaline high all the way till the end.

Joss and Drew, writer of Cloverfield and many Buffy/Angel episodes, are masters at creating “the moment”. The build up and pay off of set pieces are absolutely perfect. It’s musical in the way everything flows together and builds to a climax. This is a movie where they somehow made the ‘ding’ of an arriving elevator one of the most exciting things you’ve ever seen. It’s impressive.

The cast is a mix of Whedon regulars and new faces, and maybe a surprise appearance or two. Kristin Connolly is perfectly charming and sympathetic as the ‘virgin’ lead. Chris “Thor” Hemsworth takes a backseat in this pre-fame ‘jock’ role and it’s interesting to see him play a college kid after larger than life turns as a god and Kirk’s dad. Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford are wonderful and provide the films biggest laughs. The only performance I had an issue with was from Dollhouse co-star Fran Kranz. Fran is the ‘stoner’ of our stereotypical group and is given some of the best lines, but he overplays the “I’m so high, man” thing and is never believable. This is particularly unfortunate since his character is essentially the audience surrogate. He’s the one who speaks for us, just in a silly voice.

Even Kranz is redeemed by the films incredible climax, though. It’s something that must be seen, preferably with a group of like minded friends. It’s a fist pumping, spontaneous clapping, holy shit celebration. During the Q&A, an audience member asked the crew if they knew they were making the last horror movie ever. In some ways that feels accurate, as this takes the genre and blows it sky high. It’ll be interesting to see what future filmmakers make from the rubble.
