Briefly: Super Mario Odyssey remains one of the coolest-looking games that was shown off at this year’s E3. The title looks to bring a ton of new ideas to the series, and the idea of being able to play such a breathtaking Mario title on the go is beyond exciting.

Since the game’s initial announcement last year , the main question about the game on every gamer’s mind was in regards to multiplayer. The Wii U’s under appreciated Super Mario 3D World and its intense, insane four-player multiplayer led to some of the most fun times I’ve ever had playing a video game.

Revealed today on Nintendo’s Treehouse livestream, the company revealed that while the game won’t have the same frantic multiplayer mode as the last title, it will feature two player co-op.

In co-op mode, Mario no longer controls Cappy. The second player will control the newly-living hat, who can fly around, attack, and control some camera movement. He (it?) is also invincible, so you can play with a non-gamer spouse or even your kids, and they won’t be able to cramp your style too much.

According to Polygon, it sound like Nintendo may have even added a few teamwork-oriented puzzles to the game to force players to work together.

In any case, while I’d love a more in-depth multiplayer mode, I’ll take what I can get, and Super Mario Odyssey looks freaking fantastic.

Rewatch the game’s E3 trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up on October 27!

When I first popped that Pokémon Blue cartridge into my Gameboy Color all those years ago, I chose the water-type Squirtle as my starter. So when I heard that Build-A-Bear Workshop was including this tiny turtle Pokémon in their line of customizable plushes, my hopes were set pretty high and for the most part, they were met.

One of the differences between Squirtle and the previous Pokémon plushes released by Build-A-Bear are the variety of textures found on the plush itself. Squirtle has three different textures on its body. The softest are the blue parts on its face, tail, and limbs. They are so fun to pet! The yellow part of the underside of the its shell (found on the plush’s front) feels almost like velvet. Finally the brown, backside of its shell is a cheap-feeling, rough material.

Like Build-A-Bear’s Charmander set, Squirtle’s online exclusive bundle includes a sound box set inside one of its paws, under the Build-A-Bear patch. And like I said in my review of Charmander, they should have opted for the monster’s in-game sounds rather than those from the dubbed anime. They come out weird-sounding and not at all cute.

Fun fact: Squirtle’s tail props the plush upright quite well. Also, the rain slicker that is included with the online exclusive set is adorable and definitely my favorite item of Pokémon-themed clothing the store has released so far. It is brilliant that they chose to release it with a water-type, too!

The slicker is made of a pliable vinyl material, with Pokéballs printed all over it. It also features the Pokémon logo on one of the pockets.

The other clothing item included in the set was the Ultra Ball hoodie. This one is also available to purchase separately in stores. It didn’t have as much character as the rain slicker but I liked the soft feel of the jersey-like fabric.

Besides the creepy voice box, the only real issue I had with this plush was in the quality control department. I spotted two noticeable manufacturing errors that knocked my opinion of the plush down a notch.

This first mess-up was in the swirly part of the tail. It looks like the sewing machine got jammed, leading to a cluster of loose loops of thread. I don’t think it will effect the integrity of the seam but it is unsightly and I am concerned about it getting on the velcro from the toy’s outfits.

I spotted the second mistake as soon as I took my Squirtle out of its box. The embroidery around the left eye is sloppily done and has some stray stitching just below it. Of the two errors, it is the less irksome but it bothers me that they exist at all.

Every Squirtle purchased, whether online or in-store, comes with an exclusive Pokémon TCG promo card. While I don’t play the card game, I do appreciate the artwork and think it is a cool bonus for fans.

The online exclusive Squirtle set earns a 4 out of 5 rating. The design was well-done and I liked that the tail doubled as a stand. The only problems with were the disturbing voice box and manufacturing errors. Beyond that, this is a fun plush that I can see fans enjoying.

[This review is based on a sample provided by Build-A-Bear Workshop. All opinions are my own.]

This year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo may have just started but Nintendo is already giving fans awesome news left and right. One tidbit I am particularly excited about is Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions for the Nintendo 3DS, a remake of the Gameboy Advance fan-favorite, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. If you have played the more recent Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (reviewed here), you are likely familiar with the series’ lighthearted tone and the battle system, which focuses on timed button presses to do extra damage or dodge incoming attacks.

From the looks of things, the main storyline remains the same. Peach loses her voice, thanks to a curse from a brand-new enemy and for a nice change of pace, Bowser gets kidnapped. However, this remake will also have an additional mode called “Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser.” In this mode, you play as Bowser’s bumbling underlings, lead by a Goomba with a flag on his head because reasons. Alongside Captain Goomba will be familiar faces like Shy Guy and Boo (and judging by the newly unveiled amiibo, Koopa Troopa as well).

“What is this I hear about amiibo?” you ask. As all us amiibo addicts would hope, with this game comes the release of two additional Super Mario series amiibo, Goomba and Koopa Troopa. The previously released Boo amiibo along with these two will have read/write functionality with the game. Consider me intrigued! Other Super Mario series amiibo are compatible in some capacity as well but no other information was given at this time.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions as well as the Goomba and Koopa Troopa amiibo are scheduled to release on October 6, 2017.

2017 is looking like the year of Fire Emblem, with its multiple releases being topped off with Fire Emblem Warriors this fall. By adapting the Dynasty Warriors formula to Nintendo’s fantasy RPG, this can end up being an even better fit than the surprisingly addictive Hyrule Warriors a few years ago. Now that the first full trailer has been released however, I’m afraid that a series known for its diverse rosters might be playing it a bit too safe.

Starting two original characters who are recruiting the Fire Emblem greats to help them save their world, the trailer showed off Chrom from Awakening, female Corrin, Ryoma and Xander from Fire Emblem Fates, and Marth, the series poster child. But as anyone can tell you who’s been hooked on the mobile game over the last few months, these games have a giant cast spanning nearly 20 years. Disappointingly, as with most of the Fire Emblem content like Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Warriors is already looking like it will only focus on the newer games and the original.

So where does it leave popular protagonists like Lyn, Eirika, Ephraim and Hector? Or popular supporting cast members? While I’m almost positive that the Smash Bros characters like Roy and Ike will make the cut, while Alm and Celica have a good shot considering Echoes just released, part of the reason why I’m so excited for this game is the potential cast it can bring together. If it only focuses on the most recent games, then it’ll end up as a huge missed opportunity for the Fire Emblem faithful. I’m holding onto hope for future reveals, but I guess there’s always DLC if it doesn’t pan out.

The good news is that the trailer itself looks amazing in motion, which you can check out below! Who do you hope makes the cut in Fire Emblem Warriors? Give us your dream teams in the comments!

Since its reveal during Nintendo’s Switch presentation early this year, Xenoblade 2 has been on top of my list as THE game I need for the console long before any gameplay was shown. Now that we’ve seen it in action during the company’s E3 spotlight, it’s everything that I could have expected and more. Large, breathtaking maps? We got that! Vibrant, flashy real time combat? That’s all there. An over dramatic story trying to teach us about existentialism or something? Probably! And the voice actors are still British! Check out the trailer for yourself below and see it for yourself.

But most importantly, a sword that resembles the first game’s Monado appears. And it’s a waifu now!

As if it were ripped from the Fairy Fencer F script, the Aegis, the game’s new sword of legend, takes the form of a totally moe loli. As if trying to make you feel terrible for swinging your best girl around with reckless abandon, the game shows her human form feeling pain as the sword gets damaged.  Not one to leave you on your own, she’s also shown to simultaneously support you with magic attacks in the field as a human. How she can exist in both forms at the same time is a mystery to us all, but Holiday 2017 isn’t all that long from now. Nintendo can’t hide the truth forever!

Who’s the best sword girl? Does Aegis have potential? Is she even the best Aegis? Sound off below and share your thots!

During Nintendo’s E3 Spotlight, the company finally shed some light on what we can expect from the second DLC pack. As I predicted in our Breath of the Wild review podcast, the added content will serve as a prequel to the main game, focusing on Mipha, Revali, Daruk and Urbosa. This is exciting news on its own since we’ll be able to to explore a pre Calamity Hyrule with a whole new cast of characters, but anyone who has played through Link’s latest adventure knows that this story can’t end well.

Breath of the Wild spoilers will follow. Keep scrolling if you still haven’t played and want to be surprised!

In the main game, the only time we interacted with the Champions was when we encountered their freed spirits once their respective Divine Beast was recovered. Each one was ambushed and killed by parts of Calamity Ganon, with some added emotional weight thrown in when we get to know them through flashbacks. We got to know them just enough to understand the relationship each one shared with Link and Zelda, so to know that they died without a full picture of who they were made their final appearance feel all the more solemn despite Ganon’s defeat.

This DLC pack will change that, allowing us to fight as these warriors as they presumably march towards their ultimate fate. In every other Zelda game, you approach it knowing that somehow, some way, Link will end up saving the day. Yet with this pack, I can only hope that the new content will help us understand Mipha’s romance with Link and how close they truly were. Or why Revali held such a disliking towards our hero. Even Daruk and Urbosa’s fatherly and motherly relationship with Link and Zelda has the potential to fully flesh out who these characters are, more so than any other time in the franchise. As these plot lines hopefully develop, knowing that you won’t only fail to save Hyrule, but will be killed in the process, will make this a Zelda experience like no other. And I can’t wait for it to arrive in the fall.

Spoilers are over kids! Back to the news!

Alongside the DLC pack will be four new amiibo, one for each Champion. What function they will serve has yet to be announced, but just look at them! They’re sooooo pretty and I’m going to worship the Mipha one for the rest of my days.

Let us know what you think about this direction, the story, your predictions and your favorite amiibo in the comments!

Last week, Nintendo held their last free play sessions for their upcoming fighting game ARMS. This multiplayer demo was only available the last 2 weekends and only for 1 hour sessions. Seeing as how we’re only one week away from the game’s release, I thought it’d be fun to drum up some hype by talking about my experience with the game during these last 2 weekends. So without further delay, let’s get up in ARMS! (I apologize for nothing.)

The ARMS Global Testpunch features 8 out of the 10 playable characters, 4 stages , and 5 game modes, one of them being a secret mode that rarely pops up.  My most played characters ended up being Mechanica, The D.Va of the game, and Ribbon Girl, the underrated pop singer. For the Testpunch, I played strictly using the motion control setup, and experienced no problems at all. I’ve noticed a lot of people recommend the Pro Controller and the Joycon grip for an easier and viable use, but if you’re a fan of motion controls, you shouldn’t have a problem. My favorite part during play would have to be the replay system, as you get to watch as the final blow is delivered to you or your opponent.

The only accessible mode here is the Online Mode, but as stated earlier, this included 5 different game modes for players to test and get a proper feeling for. The most common mode is obviously versus, where you can take on anyone from a 1v1, 2v2, or an all out 3-4 player battle royale. 1 on 1 battles are usually easy to track, but it can get very hectic once team battles and free for all modes get into the mix, especially since you can actually injure your partner if you’re not careful. It feels very rewarding when you only have but a sliver of health left, and take the game from behind with a well timed grab.

The other modes appear alongside the regular versus mode, and vary. First, there’s V-ball, a mode where you play. . . well, volleyball. The mode itself has potential to be really fun, but a short timer and score cap make this experience a bit too fast, and in the end, it ends up not being as great as it could be. Maybe if you could extend the timer and amount of points in the full version you could get some fun out of it.

The next mode is Skillshot, where you and an opponent duke it out to see who can break the most targets before time runs out. This mode is actually really fun, as not only is it a race to beat your opponent to the targets, but because you’re encouraged to play dirty and grab and flip your opponent for extra points.

Finally, we have Hoops which has you and your rival trying to see who can score the most points in a game of basketball. The catch? YOU’RE the one being dunked! This mode is tons of fun, and feels super satisfying when you get a dunk on someone, especially from a 3 point line. There is one more mode, but sadly I did not encounter it, so I can’t give my thoughts on it.

In the end, I had a great time with the ARMS Global Testpunch, and wish the best for the game. It’s always great when Nintendo can deliver a fresh new take on a genre without having to resort to their go to I.Ps. Can this game become the next Splatoon? I hope so, only time will tell, but with the added additions of free content updates in the form of characters, stages, arms, and even modes, the future of this game seems just as bright. What did you think of the game? Tell us in the comments below! ARMS releases for the Nintendo Switch on June 16th.

Today in the magical land of Japan, Universal Studios Japan had their (literal) groundbreaking event for Super Nintendo World. On top of finally getting a confirmation that there will be an actual Mario Kart ride heading to the land, we were also teased with a short little concept trailer of the land itself. The video shows Mario entering to the world through a pipe, while they tease being able to visit both Peach and Bowser’s castles. The land is still a far ways off as it’s not scheduled to open until 2020, but hey, it’s fun to think about what this could hold in the future. Check out the trailer below and get ready to buy a one way ticket to Osaka!

It looks like we’re getting our Pokemon Sun and Moon sequels, just not in the way many of us were hoping.

During the Pokemon focused Nintendo Direct, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were revealed for the 3DS. Arriving on November 21st, they didn’t give us a whole lot of information to sink our teeth into. What we do know is that the game will once again take place in Alola, serving as an alternate story to the original. New Pokemon will be featured, but we don’t know if that means we’ll get brand new Pokemon, new Alola versions of old Pokemon, or straight up old characters are being added to the region. The only new Pokemon we did see were versions of the cover legendaries, Solgleo and Lunala, fused with #300 itself, Necrozma. What this means for the story, we have no idea, but it’s looking like the first game’s tale might not play into this one at all. Is it an alternate telling or set years apart? Hopefully we’ll find out more at E3.

I can’t say that I’m all that excited since we just came off of Alola and the original games a little over six months ago, but I’m going to keep an open mind and hope The Pokemon Company can wow me in the days leading up to its relatively close release date. It may not be on the Switch, but more Pokemon can’t be a bad thing, right?

This news follows the reveal of Pokken Tournament DX for the Switch and Pokemon Gold and Sliver for the 3DS virtual console. So we will be getting Pokemon on the Switch, just not in the way many of us were hoping.

Adam and I had plenty to say about the originals in our audio review, But I want your thoughts on these sequels. Are you ready for more Pokemon action, or is it too soon for sequels? Does this mean that the idea of a “third” version is dead and gone? Would you have rather had more time in between releases to possibly put these on the Switch instead? And does anyone else think the names sound incredibly bland? Fast forward to the end of the trailer below to catch all the footage we have, and let’s get the discussion started in the comments!

Outside of the Pokken Tournament DX and Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon reveals during the latest Nintendo Direct, there was one last surprise that sneaked into the tail end of the presentation. Following the success of the original Red Blue and Yellow on the 3DS Virtual Console in 2016, Pokemon Gold and Silver, their Game Boy Color sequels, will get their own retro revival on September 22, day and date with Pokken‘s Switch release.

Hailed by many as one of the greatest Pokemon generations of all time, Gold and Silver introduced many of the mechanics that have become mainstays in the years since, including breeding, berries, the ability for Pokemon to hold items, shiny Pokemon, special Poke Balls, the Special Attack and Special Defense split, and the debut of the steel and dark types. Some features like the Pokegear, which let you arrange rematches with trainers you’ve defeated, play a radio to manipulate encounter rates, and the day and night cycles where different Pokemon might appear depending on when you play have either been lost in time, or have sporadically popped in and out of the games, but with how much these sequels toyed with the mechanics, it’s no wonder why it’s so fondly remembered. Oh, and did I mention that you can revisit most of the map from the first game too? Why hasn’t that happened since!?

Like the previous Virtual Console release, these titles will also be Pokemon Bank compatible, meaning you’ll be able to transfer what you catch into Pokemon Sun and Moon, and presumably Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. But remember, you can’t transfer them back, so don’t let go of anything that Johto is too attached to!

Who else will be sitting in front of the eShop refreshing their screen this September? As my second favorite generation, I’m very excited to have a reason to play these again. Let us know what your favorite Gold and Silver moments are below!

After many months of rumor, and speculation, Pokemon is finally having what seems to have become their yearly pre E3 Pokemon Direct. The direct will take place tomorrow morning, June 6th 2017 at 7AM PST (10AM EST) and be an 8 minute long presentation. Odds are that the reveal will be the highly anticipated and rumored Pokemon Stars. Will it be a simple port of Pokemon Sun/Moon, or will it be its own thing? The only thing we can do right now is speculate until tomorrow morning. Got a guess to what it is? Tell us in the comments below!

Man, Nintendo is killing it with the marketing for Splatoon 2, which will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch in late July. Not only will English-speaking fans get a translation of Hinodeya Sankichi’s Splatoon manga in “late summer” but new plushes of characters from the series, manufactured by San-ei Boueki, are now up for pre-order from several import sites. Two plushes that are garnering a ton of attention are Judd and Li’l Judd.

Yes, I realize this is not Judd’s first plush rodeo. However, this time around he is substantially bigger, measuring 28 centimeters high and 26 centimeters wide. This size increase earns him his “M” (for “medium”) subtitle in store listings. Other details include embroidered paw pads on all four paws and his uniquely-shaped tail. Judd (M size) costs ¥3,500.

Li’l Judd is a newcomer to the Splatoon series. His origin remains clouded in mystery. All I can confirm is that the critter is unbelievably cute! Like Judd, he has embroidered paw prints and that recognizable tail. Li’l Judd is 13 centimeters tall and 13 centimeters wide. He costs ¥1,500.

You can find these plushes at AmiAmi (Judd, Li’l Judd), HobbyLink Japan (Judd, Li’l Judd), and Play-Asia (Judd, Li’l Judd). They are scheduled to ship this August.

When first announced earlier this year, many people were very skeptical of Nintendo’s online payed service arriving in the Fall of 2017 for Nintendo Switch. Many issues arose such as problems with using Voice Chat through a phone app (an absolute horrible idea.), how pricing for the payed service will work, problems with free monthly VC downloads, and more. Now, Nintendo has just delivered us an update to address some of these concerns.

First things first, Voice chat & the monthly subscriber games have been delayed 2018. While this at first may seem to be bad news, it could actually very much benefit Nintendo is some great ways. This could possibly mean that Nintendo realized how terrible of an idea using voice chat through a phone app actually is, and might be working on ways to change it. While this does sound hard to believe, Nintendo does seem open to change.

The best news out of this has to be the change of how Nintendo will handle free Virtual Console games to subscribers. Originally, the service was going to be one pitiful NES or SNES game only playable for that month, but now the newer service is much more interesting and awesome. Now instead of only 1 VC game a month, you will gain access to a netflix style service called Classic Game Selection. This will feature a number of NES/SNES titles to choose from including Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario, and more that will be available for selection. Not only that, but some of these games will now also include  online play.

The service will also still include regular E-shop discounts much like how PSN and XBL have weekly subscriber discounts. Also as one last gesture of good will, Nintendo has decided to extend the free online multiplayer trial for all Switch users into 2018 until the online service is ready to go. Last, but not least, the service will only cost $20 a year, which is the lowest price for an online subscription as compared to XBLG & PSN. What are your thoughts on the service overhaul? Tell us in the comments below!

July is coming up shortly. It is a month of conventions, BBQs, and (hopefully) air-conditioning. Oh yeah, and vampire-slaying. That last one is courtesy of Netflix’s upcoming series, Castlevania, based on the long-running video game series of the same name. The first teaser trailer for the show was released yesterday and it is sure to get your blood pumping! The animation has a definite anime flavor to it.

The official synopsis cleanly describes Castlvania‘s plot:

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

You can take a gander at the trailer below. And post what you think of it in the comments. I know I am pretty psyched to watch this new show!

After months of murmur, rumors, and re-tooling, it looks like the fabled Mario and Raving Rabbids crossover RPG is real.

That’s right, the heavily rumored strategy RPG crossover is real, and a bit confusing still. Art and info on the game leaked this morning from what looks like what was supposed to be an internal only presentation for investors. The game features only 8 playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and Rabbid variations of those characters (a step down from the original rumored cast of Mario side characters). Another notable feature is that the weapons mostly consist of guns. Yeah, their themed too match the Mario universe, but it’s still weird talking about how a new Mario game has guns in it.

The title is currently being developed not by Nintendo, but Ubisoft Paris and Milan, and will contain a 20 hour single player mode, as well as 2 player local co-op. The game is set to be released in August or September, and will be playable on the E3 show floor. Are your expectations high or low, and will you even try it out? Tell us in the comments below!

Whether you are a squid, kid, or just a plain old lover of manga, you are sure to be excited with what VIZ Media has planned. The publishing house has teamed up with Nintendo to bring the manga novelization of the family-friendly shooting game, Splatoon, to English readers. Created by Hinodeya Sankichi, the series follows four Inklings – beings that can switch from humanoid to squid forms at will – as they are swept up in the turf war that encompasses the majority of the video game’s content.

The series is scheduled to launch later this year, exclusively in print form (sorry, Kindle readers!). I would not be surprised if the first volume’s release was timed with the launch of the game’s sequel, Splatoon 2, coming to the Nintendo Switch. It is also expected to ship in late 2017. I would be interested to see if the manga covered the story through the sequel as well. Only time will tell!

Are you excited about this upcoming release?

Just last week Nintendo announced their E3 plans for 2017, and so we assumed there wouldn’t be a Nintendo Direct until a month or two afterwards.

That’s not the case as Nintendo dropped a surprise announcement this morning saying that there will be a full presentation dedicated to the game ARMS tomorrow May 17th at 3PM PST. Odds are they’ll probably show off the main modes of the game, as well as the rest of the characters. There’ll also be a special Splatoon 2 treat at the end of the direct. Are you excited for ARMS? Tell us in the comments below!

Hot on the heels of Charmander’s re-release comes the next entry in Build-A-Bear Workshop‘s Pokémon line: Squirtle! I was thoroughly impressed with their Charmander (you can read my review here) and Squirtle looks to match or perhaps even top it in terms of adorable design.

Like the Pokémon that came before it, Build-A-Bear Workshop gives fans some options on how they want to buy this cutie. Purchasing an online exclusive pre-stuffed Squirtle set nets you not only the plush but also the Poké Ball Slicker (seen above), the Ultra Ball hoodie (seen below), a special TCG card, and a 6-in-1 sound box stuffed into the little guy. This set will retail for $60 and will become available June 1. You can sign up for notifications here.

So you want to make your Squirtle with your own two hands? Not a problem! Stores will also have the Squirtle plush as well as the Ultra Ball hoodie on June 1, priced at $28 and $10.50 respectively. The only way to get that super-adorable raincoat is through the online set, though. Same goes for the sound box.

Are you planning on catching a Squirtle for yourself? Let us know in the comments!

It’s been 5 years since Nintendo stopped doing live E3 press conferences (never forget Nintendo Land fireworks), and ever since then, People still wish for Nintendo to return to that format every year (even though the Nintendo Digital Events are fine and better).

Yesterday morning, Nintendo released their E3 2017 plans as well as tickets to board the Nintendo hype train. The Nintendo E3 2017 Spotlight will air at 9AM PST and will feature Only Nintendo Switch games heading towards the system this year. Afterwards, the stream will transition into Nintendo Treehouse Live where the Treehouse crew will non stop showcase the newly announced Nintendo switch games as well as 3DS games. There will also be live Splatoon 2 and ARMS Tournaments from the 13th to the 14th.  Find out more below Are you excited for E3? Tell us in the comments below!

Earlier today Nintendo finally released new info on what we can expect to see from the first batch of DLC heading to Breath of the Wild.

The first new bit of info is the new challenge arena now called Trial of the Sword. It works the same as the cave of shadows from Twilight Princess HD.  Clear all 45 rooms, and the Master Sword will unlock its hidden potential. Also new is hard mode and hero’s path. Hard mode upgrades enemies by making them spot link more easily and giving them regenerating health if you’re taking too long in battle.  It will also include new chests that you can only get by shooting them out of the sky. Hero’s path is a new map feature that allows the player to look at where Link has traveled on the map in the past 200 hours, letting them know where they’ve been and what places they should explore.

Also new is the travel medallion which link can place anywhere to use as a custom fast travel location. Nintendo has also announced that new costumes and armor based off of Tingle, Midna, Majoras Mask, and more will be added to the game as well. While Nintendo provided no info on the DLC’s release or any hint at the 2nd pack, they did give fans a nice surprise.

Remember how everyone wanted to play Breath of the Wild with dual audio, but Nintendo didn’t want to budge on it, well now you can. As of RIGHT NOW you can download a patch for the game that allows you to play in about 6 different languages, including japanese. So if you’re a monster and hate british Zelda, now you can rid here from this cruel earth. (Editor Note: You are not an actual monster if you dislike british Zelda.) Are you excited for this DLC now? It should come as no surprise that many of us here at Geekscape are huge fans of the Pokémon series. I personally love the video games and, of course, the plushes based on the lovable monsters found within said games. Build-A-Bear Workshop released a Charmander version of their personalizable plushes in December of last year. The toy is currently being restocked both in stores and online and I was gifted with the chance to play with/cuddle/man-handle one of the exclusive online bundles. Read on to see my experience!

The plush’s face is lovely, with a perfectly-sculpted snout and detailed embroidery on the eyes. The mouth is lightly lined in a soft fabric. I was slightly disappointed to discover that the teeth were felt but it was at least a higher quality, thick variety. If I had my druthers, the teeth would have been stuffed as well.

This is good size plush, measuring about 15 inches tall with a tail extending about seven inches from base to tip. There is plenty of Charmander to cuddle, that is for sure!

And speaking of Charmander’s flame tail, here it is in all its fluffy glory. As I said in my post when the plush made its debut, I like their choice of using a “flame” puff of fabric rather than the more popular options – a plush silhouette of a flame or, if you are really unlucky, a felt cutout of the flame. I will say that when I first took my Charmander out the box, I noticed some shedding from the tail but it was minimal.

It was comforting to see how much thought Build-A-Bear put into the plush’s body. The detail was most impressive. I liked that the Pokémon’s two-tone color scheme extended to both its feet as well the entire length of the tail’s bottom. They could have cut corners there but the extra effort is much appreciated by fans like myself.

The thick felt previously seen on the teeth made another appearance as the claws on the feet.

Since this Charmander came from the online exclusive set, it is bundled with a soundbox (stuffed under the paw patch on its right hand) that plays the noises Charmander makes. Before gamers get too hyped, they are the sounds from the anime not the game series. I guess the former is easier on the ears. I would have loved that option, though. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

Besides the soundbox, the other item exclusive to the online set was the Lucario Hoodie. This clothing item gives Charmander the chance to cosplay as the steel/fighting-type. I preferred the Great Ball Hoodie, which you will see next, to this outfit. For the one thing, the Lucario Hoodie covers Charmander’s eyes. I understand that that is part of its purpose but it was bizarre to see Lucario’s smaller eyes on Charmander’s body. Also, unlike the felt found on the plush’s body, the felt used for the costume’s “ears” were rough and not conducive to cuddling.

The Great Ball Hoodie is not exclusive to the online set and can also be purchased in stores. It was a made of a soft jersey fabric that had a bit of a stretch to it, which made it easy to put on the plush. The Great Ball image on the body portion of the piece is printed on while the red stripes on the shoulders are made with a soft vinyl-like material.

The last item will certainly draw the eye of any TCG player, the exclusive Charmander trading card. The card is included with any Charmander purchase, regardless of whether you bought online or in stores. I don’t play the game but I appreciate the artwork and the Build-A-Bear Workshop emblem found on it, denoting its special status.

Build-A-Bear Workshop’s Online Exclusive Charmander Set gets a 4.5 out of 5. The quality of the items included are great, with the exception of the felt used in the hood of the Lucario Hoodie. Plus, it was just a fun plush to play with. The $61 price tag may seem a bit high for some collectors but when you consider the the average price of every item included, it evens out.

And just in case you were wondering (you probably weren’t but I will tell you anyway), I named my Charmander Charlie. He says, “Thanks for reading!”

Shortly after the discontinuation of the NES Classic, it’s now rumored that Nintendo will be releasing an SNES Mini before Christmas this year. The NES and SNES are apparently meant to be novelty items, not permanent (re)additions to the Nintendo console lineup.

If the NES was any indication of how popular this console could be, it’s a good idea to go out and get one right away to avoid missing out, or getting scalped on eBay.
We’re still waiting on an official announcement to hear what games will be available and what the price point will be. Regardless, the SNES Mini is on my Christmas wish list (I never got the chance to have one as a kid!).
What about you? Are you going to try to snag a SNES Mini to add to your collection?

This afternoon, a good portion of the gaming community tuned in to the latest Nintendo Direct presentation. For just a second shy of 11 and a half minutes, Nintendo bombarded fans with news of upcoming games for both the Switch and the 3DS. On the off chance you missed it, perhaps you had adult things to do or were napping, you can find the entire Nintendo Direct just below this sentence.

The video covered a ton of content so rather than go through it piece by piece, let’s take a look at the heavy hitters!

The headliners were ARMS and Splatoon 2. In the ARMS segment of the video (that I think kind of dragged on a bit), viewers were introduced to a new combatant, the Eastern culture-flavored Minmin. Along with Minmin, fans got a glimpse at different fighting strategies, such as equipping two different weapon types, as well as additional modes of play, like the 2-versus-2 matches. More information was also released about what makes each fighter different. Minmin, for example, can deflect projectiles with a timed kick as well as make use of a powered-up dragon arm to unleash extra damage. ARMS has a release date of June 16.

Out of all the games shown, I think Splatoon 2 is the one likely to produce the most buzz. The game’s segment showcased new gameplay mechanics, like reviving a teammate. The new mode shown was called Salmon Rush and focused on acquiring orbs dropped by enemies upon defeat. It looks like the big boss baddies yield the orbs needed to complete the main objective for the level. Splatoon 2 will ship on July 21 on the Nintendo Switch with an additional Direct leading up to the game’s release.

The Pikmin series makes its inaugural voyage to the Nintendo 3DS in Hey! PIKMIN. Players can expect the same alien-tossing and puzzle-solving they love but in a side-scrolling format. And for those amiibo maniacs out there (we are looking at you, Jonathan!), a special Pikmin amiibo will be sold the same day as the game’s release, July 28.

Speaking of amiibo, twelve additional figures are scheduled to be released this summer. First, The Legend of Zelda gets three more versions of Link on June 23. Those versions are Majora’s MaskTwilight Princess, and Skyward Sword. And on July 21, there are amiibo for the three Super Smash Bros. fighters, Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta. There will be two versions of each of those three characters. Also coming in July are three Splatoon 2 amiibo, featuring an Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, and you guessed it, an Inkling Squid.

One game I am particularly excited about is Ever Oasis, heading to the Nintendo 3DS on June 23. It is an Action-RPG by Koichi Ichii, the brain behind the Mana series. Nintendo will reveal more about this title as we get closer to June.

Back in December of last year, the Build-a-Bear Workshop released the third build-your-own plush in their Pokémon line, Charmander. And like its predecessors, Pikachu and Eevee, the Kanto starter is making an encore appearance, both in-stores and online!

Just like Charmander’s initial release, you can purchase the standalone Charmander plush for $28 in-store. The Great Ball Hoodie, shown above, can be purchased separately in-store at the price of $12.50.

If you want to shop online, the single Charmander listing is the Online Exclusive Charmander Set. Costing $61, this special package not only includes the Charmander plush and Great Ball Hoodie but also a Charmander soundbox (stuffed within the plush) and a Lucario Hoodie.

If this bundle isn’t your thing, you can search for a store near you here.

No matter where you buy it, the Charmander plush is accompanied by an exclusive card for the  Pokémon trading card game.

If you missed out on your chance to scoop this guy up last round, I would not sit on it this time. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your Pokéballs and head to the Build-a-Bear Workshop!

With just 2 months until E3, Nintendo has announced that they’ll be holding a Nintendo Direct this week on Wednesday, April 12th. The direct will air at 3PM PST and focus mainly on Splatoon 2 and ARMS with a couple of surprises thrown throughout the presentation. Hopefully we get some details on their E3 plans as well during this direct as they’ve remained pretty quiet on that front. Which game are you more excited for? Tell us in the comments below!
