Briefly: Warner Bros. Interactive today debuted a 17-minute gameplay walkthrough for this week’s release of Batman: Arkham Origins.

The video features Senior Producer Ben Mattes and Gameplay Director Michael McIntyre at WB Games Montréal, who guide you through the mechanics of the new title, highlighting the game’s deep combat system and engrossing narrative. In the video,  you’ll see the Dark Knight explore the Batcave, beat down on thugs and infiltrate a corrupt Gotham City Police Department.

I think that anyone who may have been worried about Arkham Origins failing to live up to the Arkham standard can now rest assured, the game looks awesome. Take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Origins this Friday!

Looking for more Batman: Arkham Origins? Batman voice actor Roger Craig-Smith was a guest on last week’s episode of Geekscape!

Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.

Note: the following review is as spoiler-free as possible. Haven’t played the game yet? Fear not, and read on!

Telltale Games has struck gold again.

The developer first announced an episodic adventure game based on Bill Willingham’s long-running DC/Vertigo series, Fables, all the way back in June 2011, way before we’d ever get our hands on our favourite game of 2012, The Walking Dead. Haven’t read the series? That’s no problem, as The Wolf Among Us is set 20 years before the first issue of the comic. This doesn’t make the plot meaningless, however, as Telltale has designed the series alongside Willingham, who has crafted a previously untold, yet canon story.

The Wolf Among Us suffered multiple delays during its development, but the game’s premiere episode is finally here, and after my first play through, it’s quite clear that Telltale remains the undisputed king of adventure titles.

BigbyCigaretteFable

As the game opens, we’re dropped into Fabletown, an area of New York City where Fables (fairy tale beings) of all shapes and sizes make themselves look like humans (using a Glamour spell, duh) and attempt to live human lives. You play as the sheriff of Fabletown, Bigby Wolf, a Fable who’s trying his best to reform himself after a long, sordid past (under his human skin he’s literally The Big Bad Wolf) by keeping all of the other Fables in check. Naturally, things don’t seem to be going too well for Bigby, and he’s finding himself in trouble much more often than he’d like. The Wolf Among Us plays out like an investigative/noir/deep character drama. It’s almost like a more magical L.A. Noire, except it’s not in the 1940’s, and you’ll actually want to play it beyond the halfway point.

If you’ve played The Walking Dead (you have played The Walking Dead, right?), you’ll feel right at home with The Wolf Among Us. The gameplay here is nearly identical, and that’s a very good thing: it’s a point-and-click adventure game at heart, and unlike, say, Quantic Dreams’ recent Beyond: Two Souls (which I actually really liked), The Wolf Among Us doesn’t waste its time with complicated button combinations require confusing instructions (or lack of) to do simple tasks, and instead puts the phenomenal plot, tough choices, and gorgeous visuals and audio front and centre.

BigbySnowCrane

The really incredible feat here is how the game improves on nearly every aspect of The Walking Dead. You’ll immediately notice the extremely striking visuals and audio of this title. While The Walking Dead‘s (albeit still gorgeous) comic book artstyle was much more drab and grey, the world of The Wolf Among Us is immediately more colourful, featuring a diverse neon palette that we never saw in Telltale’s previous game. As Faith faded in from black and I saw Bigby’s stark, unshaven face pass through the different levels of street lighting, I couldn’t help but say “wow” out loud. It’s that good, and Jared Emerson-Johnson’s varied soundscape is one that’s just as impressive. A year later, I barely remember what the music of The Walking Dead sounded like, but I could easily put the audio of The Wolf Among Us onto an iPod and listen to it regularly. There’s simply a level of polish present throughout the game that The Walking Dead (in all of its game-of-the-year winning glory) was never able to match. It’s blatantly obvious that Telltale learns a lot from each title that they develop, and it shows in each subsequent game, The Wolf Among Us being no exception.

The choices that Faith presents are perhaps the one facet of gameplay that The Walking Dead did better. Not that there’s anything wrong with the options given here; they’re tough, can be life-or-death, and they definitely all have pros, cons, and different outcomes. It could simply be due to the difference in setting, or it could be that The Walking Dead‘s choices didn’t really start ramping up until episode two, but I simply felt that the choices that I made in Telltale’s previous title were more meaningful and personal. Almost every major decision throughout The Walking Dead, I thought “what’s best for Clementine?” or “if I choose wrong here, I could mess everything up.” I haven’t yet felt that here, and while still tough, I’ve predominantly chosen based on which option sounded more intriguing. I think that the choices are bound to become harder and harder as we become more attached to these characters, but right now my choices are based on what sounds more interesting for the (infinitely intriguing) plot, rather than what’s best for the lives of my party.

BigbyFight

Continuing the improvements over The Walking Dead are the gameplay mechanics themselves. Action sequences in The Wolf Among Us feel much more organic, and feature much less mashing of a single button. Contextual actions seem easier to perform, yet never feel too forgiving. Arguably the most welcome improvement is the addition of a fast-walk button, which nearly doubles the speed of the abhorrently slow default walk. Seriously, if a faster walk was the only improvement to the engine that Telltale made, I’d have been a happy camper. The gameplay and controls worked excellently in The Walking Dead, and it’s all on par or better here.

The Wolf Among Us isn’t perfect, of course. It seems that, being a modern Telltale title, the game needs to include the myriad of technical issues that plagued each and every episode of The Walking Dead. Voices (did I mention how good the voice work is?) go out of sync and sometimes lines are repeated, cameras lag and hang before finally changing angles, and some users are experiencing the inevitable save game bug. Most of the problems are simply minor annoyances, but are extremely noticeable since the rest of the game is so damned polished.

Toad_ToadJr

Overall, Faith is an excellent entry point into what’s already becoming one of the best narrative games of the year (this seems to be becoming a regular occurrence for Telltale). The game is polished, the plot is great, the choices are tough, and the ending leaves you eager to jump into the next episode (which is about a month and a half away). The premiere episode of The Wolf Among Us bests last year’s The Walking Dead opener in nearly every way, and if episode two, Smoke & Mirrors can improve on what we’ve seen here, The Wolf Among Us could easily be a contender for game-of-the-year.

Whether you’ve read the book or not, I’d wholeheartedly recommend The Wolf Among Us to everyone (though be mindful of the ESRB rating, it’s definitely not for kids). I can’t wait to get another taste of Fabletown and this gorgeous neon New York. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go buy some Fables TPBs.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1 – Faith scores an impressive 4.5/5.

Briefly: Earlier this week we showed you the first trailer for NetherRealm Studios’ mobile edition of Batman: Arkham Origins.

The studio, which recently released the phenomenal Injustice: Gods Among Us, and also developed the 2011 iOS title Batman: Arkham City LockdownOrigins looks like a great evolution of their previous mobile Batman title.

You’ll play as Batman as he fights his way through Gotham City’s most dangerous locales and encounters a number of DC Comics’ most deadly assassins. As you progress, you’ll be able to upgrade your character’s skills and fighting tactics, but you’ll also be able to unlock a number of unique Batsuits by earning in-game currency and rewards, and fans that also own a console version of the game will be able to access exclusive bonus content that is not available elsewhere.

Batman: Arkham Origins is available now for iOS, while the Android version is expected later this holiday season. Head here to download the title, and be sure to let us know if you enjoy it! The console version of Batman: Arkham Origins releases on October 25th.

Briefly: Warner Bros. today debuted two new TV spots for next week’s highly anticipated release of Batman: Arkham Origins.

The game is looking fantastic so far, but of course, many have been worried that it wouldn’t have a chance at matching the quality of the first two titles in the series. First, Rocksteady Studios is not developing the game (it’s instead being handled directly by Warner Bros. Interactive), and second, neither Kevin Conroy nor Mark Hamill are involved with the title.

Troy Baker, the new voice of The Joker, recently recited a monologue from Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, and it was wonderful. Roger Craig Smith sounds great as Batman (and was also on tonight’s Geekscape, look for the link later), and early buzz for the game has been excellent. At this point in the game’s cycle, I don’t think that we have anything to worry about.

Take a look at the spots below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game! Batman: Arkham Origins releases on October 25th!

Briefly: It seems as though a version of Batman: Arkham Origins is headed to nearly every game-playing device on the planet. Warner Bros. has announced that a mobile edition of Batman: Arkham Origins will be coming to iOS and Android devices this holiday season.

Developed by NetherRealm Studios, who recently released the phenomenal Injustice: Gods Among Us, and also developed the 2011 iOS title Batman: Arkham City LockdownOrigins looks like a great evolution of their previous mobile Batman title.

Batman: Arkham City Lockdown was a fantastic mobile experience, and a great on-the-go companion to Arkham City. The game felt a lot like Infinity Blade (which isn’t a bad thing), but definitely had a certain charm that’s present with all NetherRealm titles. If you haven’t played it already, I’d definitely recommend giving Arkham City Lockdown a download, as it’ll give you a great idea of what the Arkham Origins mobile game will feel like.

Watch the first trailer for the mobile version of Batman: Arkham Origins below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: We’ve known that Telltale was crafting a game based on Bill Willingham’s Fables comic series for some time now (it was announced all the way back in 2011), but we just found out when we’ll finally be able to get our first taste.

Episode one, titled Faith, will debut worldwide on Xbox 360 and PC/Mac this Friday, October 11th. PS3 players will be waiting a few extra days according to Telltale (but I’d imagine the game will drop with the PSN update on Tuesday). I’m sure that an iPhone/iPad edition will follow, but an iOS launch has not been confirmed at this point.

The first episode will cost Telltale’s standard $4.99, and a season pass for episodes two through five will cost a cool $14.99 at that point.

I’m really looking forward to the title, and to jump into the world of Fables. Telltale’s The Walking Dead was my favourite game of last year, so I’m very excited to see what they do next! Will the story and choices be able to match up to that of their post-apocalyptic adventure game? I sure hope so (but also don’t see how that’s possible).

Take a look at a teaser trailer for The Wolf Among Us below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up the game!

Set prior to the events seen in the first issue of the FABLES comic book series, The Wolf Among Us puts players in the role of Bigby Wolf, a man once more infamously known as The Big Bad Wolf.  Now the sheriff of a hidden community in New York City, exiled from the land of fairy tales, Bigby is tasked by the bureaucrat Snow White to keep order within a society of mythical creatures and characters trying to remain undetected in the world of the mundane.  From a chain-smoking member of ‘The Three Little Pigs,’ to a car-stealing Mr. Toad itching for his next wild ride, The Wolf Among Us examines the lives of beings straight from the pages of myth and lore, now trying to survive on the meanest and most run-down streets of New York City.

Briefly: Could this be the BIG NEWS that NetherRealm co-founder Ed Boon tweeted about?

The studio has just announced a new edition of their popular, acclaimed Injustice: Gods Among Us. The new, “Ultimate Edition” of the title includes (of course), the base game, and all of the DLC that’s been released so far (there’s quite a lot of it).

This edition is coming to PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, and PC, apparently leaving out the Xbox One, and totally leaving out the Wii U (which still hasn’t received any DLC). It launches on November 12th in North America, and November 29th in Europe.

This is a great buy for anyone that hasn’t yet picked up Injustice. The game is one of the best brawlers that I’ve played in some time, and it’s definitely a title that benefits from an expansive library of DLC.

Take a look at the launch trailer for Injustice below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up the new version!

“Gods Among Us” debuts as a bold new fighting game franchise that introduces a deep, original story featuring a large cast of favorite DC Comics icons such as Batman, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Deathstroke, Solomon Grundy, Superman, Lex Luthor, The Flash, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Bane, Catwoman, Shazam, Black Adam, Raven, the Joker, Doomsday, Killer Frost, Ares and more. Set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, players will experience heroes and villains engaging in epic battles on a massive scale.

Briefly: With just over a month to go until Batman: Arkham Origins hits stores, Warner Bros. Interactive has debuted a new trailer for the game showcasing the Deathstroke Challenge Pack that’s included with preorders.

The pack includes (of course) Deathstroke as a playable character (complete with three costumes), a 100-to-1 mode, and two exclusive challenge maps. The pack looks like a lot of fun, and should definitely be able to sway a few people into preordering.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited! atman: Arkham Origins hits PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U (sans multiplayer) on October 25th!

After a lengthy bidding war, FOX has acquired the rights to create the television series, “Gotham,” based on the popular DC comics Batman universe.

The show, which is being developed by Bruno Heller, creator of CBS’ “The Mentalist,” will be about a younger Jim Gordon, still a detective in the Gotham Police Department. Bruce Wayne/Batman will not make an appearance, but the show will have other characters and villains from the Batman universe.

The Commissioner Gordon character was introduced in Detective Comics (1939) as a supporting character to Batman and has remained virtually unchanged ever since. Armed with his signature bushy, salt and pepper mustache, Gordon is one of Batman’s most loyal allies in the fight for justice in Gotham City. He was most famously portrayed by Gary Oldman in the Christopher Nolan ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy.

Personally, I think this could be a potentially great series and a great avenue of exploration for the DC universe. Gordon is one of my favorite characters in the series and it will be interesting to see how they fill the void without Batman in the picture. I’ve been looking forward to a grittier ‘Law & Order’ direction for the Batman franchise, so we can see how the criminal justice system in Gotham functions (or doesn’t). I hope we’ll also get to visit other Gotham locations like Arkham Asylum or The Iceberg Lounge.

Briefly: Following some sexy character posters released just last week, The CW has debuted a new TV spot for Arrow‘s upcoming season premiere.

Titled “Sharper”, the spot appears to offer some new footage from the season, and does a really good job of reminding me that I still need to finish season one.

You too? Better get on it. Season two of Arrow premieres on October 9th! Take a look at the new spot below, and let us know if you’re excited!

Briefly: Following the new trailer released earlier this month, The CW today debuted four new character posters for the upcoming season premiere of Arrow.

In pretty typical Arrow fashion, each and every one of the new posters (featuring Stephen Amell, Colton Haynes, David Ramsey, and Manu Bennett) spotlights one of Starling City’s most beautiful men, completely naked from the waist up.

Take a look at the new posters below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Arrow‘s return. Season two premieres on October 9th!

While you’re at it, how do you feeling about the show’s just-cast Barry Allen?

Briefly: Following the impressive sizzle reel that debuted at this year’s Comic-Con, The CW has debuted the first official trailer for Arrow‘s second season.

I guess I should hurry up and finish season one, huh? The trailer actually looks pretty awesome, and the premiere is just over a month away!

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited! Arrow premieres on October 9th!

Briefly: I felt pretty iffy about Batman: Arkham Origins: Blackgate when it was first announced. A sidescrolling, hand-held only spinoff of the franchise to be released on the same day as its console brethren felt like a simple cash-grab, and a way to monetize those without a home console.

How wrong I was. Blackgate looks bad-ass.

A new trailer takes us through Blackgate‘s plot (which sadly sounds nearly identical to Arkham Asylum), and gives us a good look into the gameplay. I’m not sure if the cutscenes shown are directly from the game, or created just for the marketing, but I seriously hope they’re in the final product as they look wonderful.

Take a look at the short trailer below, and let us know what you think! Batman: Arkham Origins: Blackgate hits 3DS and PS Vita on October 25th! Maybe this will finally give me a reason to dust off the ol’ Sony handheld.

Briefly: The CW has just revealed the first poster for the anticipated second season of Arrow.

The poster is pretty standard faire, featuring a somber (or bored) looking, shirt-clad Amell (what’s up with that?), and the show’s supporting cast in the background.

All jokes aside, I’m really looking forward to Arrow‘s second season. More DC characters are set to debut during its duration, including Black Canary and, of course, The Flash! Take a look at the poster below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Arrow. Season two premieres on October 9th!

Briefly: Just yesterday, we saw some new Batman: Arkham Origins screenshots that gave us a great look at the game’s Batcave (among other things). Today, Warner Bros. Interactive debuted a new trailer, filled with never-before-seen footage for the anticipated title.

The trailer does a great job of garnering even more excitement for the game, and also reveals one of Black Mask’s assassins, Firefly. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game! Batman: Arkham Origins hits PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U (sans multiplayer) on October 25th!

Briefly: What choices await us in Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us? If the game turns out anything like last year’s The Walking Dead, we’re in for a damn fine treat.

Announced earlier this year, The Wolf Among Us is Telltale’s adaptation of the popular DC/Vertigo series Fables. The first trailer for the game has just been released, and it looks mighty impressive. A release date for the first episode is yet to be announced, but the preview states that it’s ‘premiering soon’.

I haven’t read much of Bill Willingham’s Fables, but it certainly sounds like an infinitely intriguing concept. I’m not sure that the scenarios that The Wolf Among Us could match the intensity of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series, but I suppose we’ll find out soon enough! Take a look at the first trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Last week, NetherRealm Studios revealed that the next DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us would be none other than Zatanna.

The character’s first debut trailer showed some pretty impressive skills, along with (naturally) very flashy moves. Zatanna’s finishing move, however, is likely the most boring of the game’s entire roster.

The Zatanna DLC has just launched, and is now available for download (for a measly $5 / 400 MS Points) on PS3 and Xbox 360. Wii U owners like myself, are again out of luck, and will probably never see the DLC… like, ever.

Take a look at Zatanna’s history below, and let us know if you’ll be downloading the character!

Briefly: Clocking in at just under five minutes, saying much of anything about First Impressions would simply spoil it too much.

In short, Leo Kei Angelos has crafted an immensely impressive, insanely well choreographed Wonder Woman fan film. The short stars Hailey Bright as a very capable Diana, Chester See as her date, and our pal Doug Jones as a bad guy with bad things to do.

Seriously, it’s five minutes, and it’s totally worth it. Check out the short below, and let us know what you think! CW / Warner Bros., whenever you finally get around to producing something Wonder Woman centric, you should definitely be calling up this guy.

Briefly: The next DLC character for NetherRealm Studios fantastic Injustice: Gods Among Us has been revealed.

The first gameplay trailer for Zatanna has debuted online, showing off some pretty impressive moves, and finishing things off with a very lazy finisher (probably the most boring one that I’ve seen). All around, the character looks pretty neat, and should be welcomed by gamers who are itching for a new fighter.

Watch Zatanna’s gameplay footage below, and let us know what you think! We’ll let you know when Zatanna releases!

Aquaman and Wonder Woman may never appear on The CW, but it looks as though The Flash definitely will, and sooner than you might think.

The character (Barry Allen) will debut during Arrow‘s second season (episodes eight, nine, and twenty to be specific). His origin story will be told at some point in these episodes, and some time after that, he’ll get his own series. The episodes will be written by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns.

Kreisberg has stated that we’ll meet Barry as ‘an ordinary man’ in episode eight, and that “The character will be as grounded and realistic as possible. That’s how we’ll get to know him. Then his life will get a bit faster.”

Arrow, of course, has been a strictly ‘no-powers’ series to this point. Kreisberg noted that the origins “won’t be treated as commonplace on the show but as extraordinary events,” and that “he does need powers to become The Flash. And he will be The Flash. He will wear a red costume, and he will go by that name.”

An actor has not yet been chosen for the role, as casting is set to begin next week. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this one, as of course a series based on The Flash is one that we definitely want to see.

What do you think of the announcement? Are you a fan of Arrow so far?

Briefly: Last week it was reveal that J’onn J’onzz would not be the final DLC character to join Injustice: Gods Among Us‘ already expansive roster.

Today, Martian Manhunter officially released, and is absolutely itching for a fight. The character is available for $4.99 (or 400MS Points) on PS3 and Xbox 360. It has not been announced if or when he’ll be dropping on the Wii U version of the game (which seems to be all but forgotten these days).

NetherRealm today released a video describing the history of the character, so if you’re unfamiliar, take a look below, and let us know if you’ll be picking him up!

To say that the downloadable characters released for Injustice: Gods Among Us were contentious would be an understatement. After a generally well received announcement of Lobo, the releases of Batgirl, Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion and Man of Steel villain Zod divided the community amongst people who felt more Batman and Superman characters was overkill, along with a guest character taking a slot in what many assumed was a DC exclusive fighter. But most of all, some were mad because there were still vital pieces of the DC Universe missing, especially Justice League mainstay Martian Manhunter. At EVO, NetherRealm Studios showed they were listening, answering the fan’s request and adding Manhunter to the Injustice cast along with an extra surprise.

The reveal trailer showed Manhunter going against John Stewart’s Green Lantern, displaying some impressive use of his shape shifting and telepathic abilities. Stewart on the other hand, is a new skin for the Hal Jordan version in the standard game, so while his moves are the same, it sounds like the developers were able to secure the Justice League Unlimited voice actor from the animated series for both. It would have been nice to see some new constructs, but then again, I’m happy that Stewart is in at all. Completing the Justice League animated cast on top of a brand new character is better than expected.

Injustice Zatanna

Will Zatanna make the DLC cut?

But the good news doesn’t stop there. Ed Boon recently tweeted that MM and Stewart won’t be the final additions, stating that the next one is a, “BIG fan favorite request!” What this means is anyone’s guess, but the character request polls were led by Zatanna and Red Hood. Considering the backlash towards more Batman characters, I’m guessing Zatanna is getting in. While I personally would be happy with Hood, (or Black Canary and Huntress for that matter,) Zatanna would be a great addition to a roster with a lack of magic users save for Raven.

The moral of the story? Don’t buy season passes!

Martian Manhunter and John Stewart will be available on July 30th for $4.99. Whether or not a second season pass for the new wave of fighters, who the next character will be, and how many characters will be added from here is unknown, but details will be posted as they become available.

Briefly: During this year’s fantastic San Diego Comic-Con, The CW revealed a cool first trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Arrow. Apparently it reveals some pretty heavy spoilers for the show’s first season, so seeing as I still haven’t caught up, I haven’t actually watched the preview myself.

I’m hearing that great things are in store for the show’s second season, so I better get caught up quickly! Arrow returns on October 9th!

Briefly: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a fantastic property that could make a phenomenal movie or TV series if put in the right hands. Could those hands belong to Michael Greene and Fox?

TVLine has revealed that Fox has just purchased the rights to produce a ‘Put Pilot’ based on The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. This means that we’re extremely likely to see this come to light, as if a ‘Put Pilot’ is not aired, the network suffers a major penalty.

Michael Greene (Heroes, Smallville) will write and produce the pilot, which is still without a cast or director.

According to TVLine, the official logline for the series reads: “A drama series based on Alan Moore’s critically and commercially successful graphic novel series about a group of Victorian-age literary characters, including Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, who team up to fight a common enemy.”

Over ten years has passed since the terrible film adaptation of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s first released to theatres. Do you think that enough time has gone by for people to forget about the film, or will people avoid this based on the name alone? The books are obviously held in very high regard, how do you think a series could turn out?

We’ll share more details as soon as they come in, but be sure to share your thoughts below!

The holiday weekend means that news is slow (well, essentially non-existent), but Warner Bros. Animation has just released a trio of cool new stills from the upcoming release of Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

DC readers are bound to be familiar with the events of Flashpoint, the acclaimed event that launched DC’s New 52 and rebooted the entire DC Universe. The animated adaptation features Justin Chambers as Barry Allen, Kevin McKidd as Batman, Michael B Jordan as Cyborg and C. Thomas Howell as Reverse Flash. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is set to premiere at SDCC on July 19th, and will hit DVD/Blu Ray on July 30th.

Take a look at the new stills below, and let us know what you think! Miss the trailer? Watch it here!

That didn’t last long.

Damian Wayne suffered a pretty horrific death in Batman Inc. #8 back in February, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t be seeing him around.

A new Damnian Wayne centric miniseries titled Damnian: Son of Batman is set to launch this October. The four issue series is written and illustrated by Andy Kubert, and heads into a future where Damian survives and eventually takes on the role of Batman.

Whether Damian permanently returns following the series is still unknown, but of course it wouldn’t be the first time that a character came back from the dead.

In speaking to the New York Post, Kubert States “I had a big affinity for Damian when I drew Batman issue #666 (in 2007). I really liked that Batman and always wanted to revisit him. Damian is a bit different than the ‘Bruce Wayne’ Batman. Grant Morrison tweaked his character in a way that made it very endearing for me to draw. And to write. Basically, what I’m doing is exploring the path that Damian has taken to become Batman. I think readers will see him in a different light than before.”

The first issue of Damian: Son of Batman  will release on October 30th. Take a look at some key art for the series below, and let us know if you’ll be adding it to your pull list!

Last week, it was revealed that the next DLC character for NetherRealm Studios Injustice: Gods Among Us would be none other than General Zod. This of course tied in nicely with the release of this Summer’s biggest film, Man of Steel.

Today, the first trailer for the character has been released. I’ve been addicted to Injustice for quite some time now, and Zod certainly looks like a formidable opponent. Man of Steel fans will also enjoy a film-inspired skin for Superman, with both pieces of DLC releasing on July 2nd.

Watch the trailer and check out the new skin below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Injustice: Gods Among Us introduces a new franchise in the fighting game genre and a brand new story created in collaboration between NetherRealm Studios, DC Entertainment and comic book writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti. As the story unfolds, players will experience the power, gadgetry and unparalleled strength of some the most popular DC Comics heroes and villains, such as Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, The Joker and others, as they engage in epic battles in a world where the line between good and evil is blurred.

This is a great movie tie-in.

Last night’s Conan had the hilarious host reviewing the new DC brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game released back in April, and has been garnering plenty of acclaim ever since. Fighting games, by nature, beg for DLC, and Injustice has had its fair share of it. Characters (Batgirl and Mortal Kombat‘s Scorpion so far), costume packs, and more have already been released, and last night’s Conan revealed the next character you’ll be adding to your roster: Zod.

No word yet on when Zod will be available, but seeing as Man of Steel is releasing today, I’d expect it to happen soon. The character looks like a formidable opponent, and sports a very cool finishing move, so it should please fans of both the character and game alike. Watch Conan’s review/reveal below, and let us know what you think!

How has this project not been made yet?

Bill Willingham’s Fables first launched in 2002 and has been a worldwide hit ever since. The series offers an original, adult take on the world of fairy tales, and is certainly worth checking out if you haven’t already. Here’s a synopsis for those who are unfamiliar:

When a savage creature known only as the Adversary conquered the fabled lands of legends and fairy tales, all of the infamous inhabitants of folklore were forced into exile. Disguised among the normal citizens of modern-day New York, these magical characters have created their own peaceful and secret society within an exclusive luxury apartment building called Fabletown. But when Snow White’s party-girl sister, Rose Red, is apparently murdered, it is up to Fabletown’s sheriff, a reformed and pardoned Big Bad Wolf, to determine if the killer is Bluebeard, Rose’s ex-lover and notorious wife killer, or Jack, her current live-in boyfriend and former beanstalk-climber.

Heydey Films is set to produce a, well, film adaptation of Fables. A Danish Affair director Nikolaj Arcel will direct the picture, with a script coming from Jeremy Slater (who is also working on the Fantastic Four reboot). No other information has been revealed about the project, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

This of course, isn’t the first time that Fables has attempted to jump mediums. Warner Bros. was working on the project in 2004, and ABC tried to adapt it for television in 2008. Obviously, neither of those projects came to be (though I hear that ABC’s Once Upon A Time is doing pretty well, and offers some astounding similarities).

What do you think of the news? With names already attached, it certainly seems like the project will actually come to be this time around. Are you still enjoying Fables all these years later? Sound out below!

We’ve all known about DC’s impending “Villain Month” for some time, but now that we’re just a few short months away from the event, the publisher has started releasing official details.

First, all books will be $3.99 (yes, groan, groan, mumble, mumble), but each confirmed book will also feature a cool 3D cover. We’re not talking trading-card sized hologram or a small piece of the image either, but the entire cover. It’s pretty cool, and I’m sure that any book you pick up regularly will be worth the extra dollar that month. Confirmed books at this time are Lex Luthor #1, Joker #1, First Born #1, Bizarro #1, Two-Face #1, Metallo #1, Relic #1, Desaad #1, Darkseid #1, Ventriloquist #1, Cyborg Superman #1, H’El #1, Creeper #1, Grodd #1, Poison Ivy #1, and Parasite #1.

Buzzfeed has a fantastic interview with Dan DiDio and Jim Lee about what Villain Month means for the DC Universe. It’s a great read, and if you weren’t excited for September before, maybe it can turn you around.

Check out some covers from Villain Month below, and let us know what you’re planning to pick up!
