Marvel Studios announced today that Martin Freeman has joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War, they did not reveal who he will be playing. This is exciting news, I’m a big fan of Freeman and will be intrigued as to what kind of role he will be playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I think the safe bet would be that he will play some sort of Government official regarding the registration act, but will be delighted obviously if it was more than that. Who do you think he could be portraying?

“From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in ‘The Office,’ Martin’s range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us,” said “Captain America: Civil War” Producer Kevin Feige. “We couldn’t be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Captain America: Civil War” hits theaters May 6, 2016.

In statements released on starwars.com, Josh Trank (“Fantastic Four”, “Chronicle”) is no longer going to be directing the second standalone Star Wars Anthology film.

Trank released a statement saying:

“After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path. I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities. That said, the Star Universe has always been one of my biggest influences, and I couldn’t be more excited to witness its future alongside my millions of fellow Star Wars fans. I want to thank my friends Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, Simon Kinberg, and everyone at Lucasfilm and Disney for the amazing opportunity to have been a part of this. May the Force be with you all.”

Lucasfilm Vice-President of Development Kiri Hart said:

“It was a privilege to collaborate with Josh. We are grateful for the energy and love of Star Wars that he brought to the process, and we wish him all the best.”

Not knowing any information about the movie it’s hard to have any feelings about his his departure. One also has to wonder if this will cause any delays in their release date plans.

So with the departure of Josh, who will be called upon to helm the project? Who do you guys think would be good fit?

Briefly: It seems crazy, it being 2015 and all, but for some strange reason, the Star Wars saga has never (legally) been available on digital platforms.

This is all set to change this Friday, April 10th, when the entire saga (in all of its Special Edition glory) will debut on on digital platforms globally. All six films will be available, and they’re also set to include a batch of brand new extras.

Here’s the announcement from StarWars.com:

The Star Wars films will soon become more powerful than you can possibly imagine: the classic series is going digital for the first time ever.

As anticipation builds for the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first new film in the Star Wars saga in a decade, The Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox today announced the upcoming release of The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection. All six epic films in the saga, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi, will be available on Digital HD globally beginning Friday, April 10.

“Since the debut of the first film nearly 40 years ago, Star Wars has become a worldwide phenomenon with legions of fans from every generation,” said Alan Bergman, president, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s only fitting that audiences enjoy this legendary saga and its many fascinating behind-the-scenes stories on a wide variety of platforms, and we’re very excited to finally bring all six films to Digital HD for the first time.”

“We’re thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the Star Wars saga on their digital devices wherever they go,” commented Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “These films broke new ground in technology, design, sound, and visual effects, and we’ve created some very special bonus material which delves into the saga’s rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary Star Wars artists — the masters who helped George bring his iconic universe to life.”

With Star Wars: Episodes I-VI available for purchase as a complete digital movie collection and individually, viewers will have the Rebel forces at their beck and call across their favorite devices anywhere — sunbathing at the beach, relaxing in their living room with friends, or waiting to board a flight to Endor (or elsewhere).

Plus, unlike Lando’s bargaining with Darth Vader, this deal is getting better all the time: Enhancing the movie collection are a host of never-before-seen special features including Star Wars: Discoveries from Inside and insightful Conversations between key contributors from across this celebrated film franchise, plus a curated collection of classic Star Wars extras from each film.

And a trailer for the upcoming collection:

It’s been some time since I’ve watched through the entire saga, and I haven’t owned it since it first released on DVD, so I could definitely see myself picking up this collection on iTunes. Will you be picking up the saga in its new, non-physical format? Sound out below!

Briefly: Daredevil is just around the corner, A.K.A. Jessica Jones is well into production, and today Marvel announced that Cheo Hodari Coker has joined Luke Cage as series’ showrunner, and also that the series will debut in 2016.

Cheo has produced popular shows like Ray Donovan and Southland, for which he also won the 2013 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing for a Dramatic Series.

Here’s the full release, straight from Marvel:

Netflix & Marvel Television announced today that Cheo Hodari Coker will serve as executive producer and showrunner of the anticipated series, “Marvel’s Luke Cage.” Coker is writing the first two episodes of the series that will premiere in 2016, everywhere that Netflix is available.

Most recently, Coker served as a co-executive producer on the second season of “Ray Donovan,” and prior to that was a supervising producer on the critically-acclaimed, fourth season of the drama “SouthLAnd.” Coker was a part of the “SouthLAnd” team that earned the show a 2012 Peabody Award. Coker also garnered a 2013 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing for a Dramatic Series for his work on that show. Coker’s feature film credits include Fox Searchlight’s rap biopic “Notorious.” He authored the book “Unbelievable: The Life, Death, and Afterlife of The Notorious B.I.G.” as well. Coker started his writing career in journalism and was a staff writer at the Los Angeles Times and contributed to VIBE, Rolling Stone, Essence, among other publications. He is a graduate of Stanford University.

It was previously announced that Mike Colter (“The Good Wife,” “American Horror Story: Coven”) will play the charismatic lead character, Luke Cage, in the series.

“Marvel’s Luke Cage” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

It was revealed back in December that Colter (pictured below) would play Luke Cage, who will first appear in this year’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones.

Fresh off their successful live-adaptations of Disney tales like Cinderella and Maleficent, Disney intends to continue striking while that iron burns hot with Mulan. I’m legitimately excited.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Disney bought a script by writing team Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek that centers on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, the female warrior who was the main character in Disney’s 1998 animated film.

Chris Bender and J.C. Spink (We’re the Millers) are producing the new project.

Mulan will be yet another entry in live-action reboots Disney has in the works.

Disney is also making a live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson andDan Stevens. Audra McDonaldjust joined the cast of the project, which will be directed by Bill Condon. It hits theaters on March 17, 2017. And in 2016 Disney will release a new version of The Jungle Book and the sequel to Alice in Wonderland. Finally, a live-action version of Dumbo, which will be helmed by Tim Burton, is also in the works.

The success of genre properties like The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones must have unlocked Disney’s awareness of their older audience who have a fond affinity of never growing up past their childhood. How long before we see The Lion King with real lions?

I’m not knocking their decision — a live-action Mulan that looks like Red Cliff? Yes please! — I just think it’s funny that it’s only in this era that Disney could profit from these types of movies. The direct influence from geekier properties are clear, but appropriated into Disney fairy tales (which itself were mostly Grimm stories which clearly Mulan isn’t, but still) is just amusing to me.

Points for Disney for hiring women writers. I do hope they commit to the, uh, ahem, exotic aspects of Mulan and not cast non-Asians in any prominent roles. Of all the ethnicities underrepresented in Hollywood, it’s Asians, man. There were twenty years between Margaret Cho’s failed sitcom to ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat. Twenty.

It is currently unknown when this new Mulan will hit theaters, but I hope it’s soon. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Briefly: Earlier today on Ellen, Amy Poehler and Bill Hader debuted a brand new trailer for Pixar’s next wonderful-looking feature, Inside Out.

The trailer is totally beautiful, and as with most Pixar titles (Cars 2 aside), this one looks like something special.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

The new trailer shows far more footage than we saw last time around, and gives us a great idea of just what the film will be about. Ready your tissues (there’s a few tear-jerking seconds in here), take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Inside Out hits theatres on June 19th.

Briefly: We’ve been beyond-excited for Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland since the first teaser debuted all the way back at NYCC, and we’ve been eating up every little tidbit of info about the production every since.

Today, Disney debuted a new theatrical trailer for the film, and it’s chock-full of gorgeous new footage.

Now, it also reveals a lot about the plot of the movie, so if you’re trying to retain the mystery that the first teaser left you with, I’d probably stay away from this one.

For everyone else, take a look below, and let us know how excited you are. Tomorrowland hits theatres on May 22nd.

“Quick, Ryan!” I blurted out. “What anime did you grow up watching?”

I was interviewing actor, martial artist and noted young philanthropist Ryan Potter, star of Disney’s Big Hero 6, when his reps told me my previous question was the last. So of course I snuck one more in.

“Oh man, oh man,” he tells me in a strong southern California accent. “Let’s be real, I grew up watching Studio Ghibli films, Katsushiro Otomo, [and] Satoshi Kon.” Damn, this kid was hardcore. It’s great to know that a big-budget Disney movie inspired by decades of anime and tokusatsu starred a total fanboy himself.

“It’s hard to say individual projects, but I feel like One Piece and Akira are my two biggest influences.”

An adaptation of an obscure Marvel comic series, Big Hero 6 was a Thanksgiving blockbuster that grossed over $520 million worldwide and is a nominee for Best Animated Film at this year’s Academy Awards. It will also be available on Disney DVD and Blu-ray on February 24.

Raised in Tokyo before moving to the United States at the age of 7, Ryan began his acting career at 15 in the Nickelodeon television series Supah Ninjas. He later had a recurring role in Fred: The Show and starred in the indie drama Senior Project before landing the lead in the latest hit from Walt Disney Animated Studios. In Big Hero 6, Ryan plays boy genius “Hiro,” the leader of the bombastic titular super team who must stop a mysterious masked villain from wrecking havoc all over their Blade Runner-esque hybrid city of San Fransokyo.

In a case of art reflecting life, the actor himself is something of a hero: In 2011, Ryan founded founded Toy Box of Hope, an annual holiday collection drive for homeless children in Los Angeles.

I recently spoke to Ryan — who at 19-years-old knows White Tiger kung-fu and can beat up my 23-year-old jell-o ass — about his downtime, playing an Asian-American superhero, and his desire to always help people.

KinoFilms.ua

Let’s start with you before anything else. You’re an actor, martial artist, director, a philanthropist, and you still have plans to study art and film in college. You’re hella busy. What’s a guy like you do to just chill?

Ryan: [laughs] My question for you, before I answer that, is are you located in San Francisco?

I’m not, but I have been there though!

Ryan: Were you raised in northern California? Because you just said “hella.” [laughs] Really it’s just kind of taken up with hobbies. I play soccer once a week with friends. My martial arts training, my photography, I try to shoot a couple times a week. I just try to stay busy.

So Big Hero 6 was, put simply, huge.

Ryan: It was!

Congratulations on its success! So how does that feel for you, to star in an Oscar-nominated picture? What went through your head when it was first announced?

Ryan: Thank you! I’m still trying to process that they allowed me to be in the film! So everything that has come after, kind of driving through those gates at Disney for the first time, trying to meet the Disney standards, everything after that has just been kind of a bonus, I think … the success of the film, it being received so well internationally, and now all these different nominations and awards. At the Visual Effects Society Awards we were nominated five times and won five times. At the Annies, we walked away with a couple of awards, and now the Oscar nominations.

I don’t know, it’s hard to put into words. I feel like every actor on Big Hero 6 kind of uses this same word over and over, this whole experience has been surreal. It’s every kid’s dream to be part of a Disney film and, you know, no matter how old you are, that kid in you that just is just gleaming going in to work for Disney.

Big Hero 6 is about family and friends and coping with the loss of loved ones. With the charities you’re involved, I think that’s something you know pretty well.

Ryan: Absolutely.

So how much of yourself did you channel into Hiro? How deep did you have to go as an actor?

Ryan: With Hiro, I just got to play myself. I got to play myself in extraordinary circumstances, like flying and fighting alongside some superheroes. But really at the end of the day, it was kind of my personality and thought process when I was 13 or 14, you know? I’ve had an older brother from Big Brothers Big Sisters for, man, well over ten years now. I mean, he’s one of the biggest mentors in my life.

That relationship between James [my mentor] and I, and Hiro and Tadashi, is very similar. He just makes sure I’m okay. He checks in on me. And, yeah, I feel like channeling myself into Hiro wasn’t necessarily kind of… I wouldn’t put it in those words, but it was more just channeling past experiences and past emotions and kind of lending them to Hiro.

With how big superheroes are now in pop culture, how did you feel about playing an Asian-American superhero in a big Hollywood movie?

Ryan: It’s the greatest thing ever. [laughs] Because, I mean, there really aren’t a lot of them. Dick Grayson can be played by an Asian-American, that would be pretty cool, and Nightwing could be played by an Asian-American too. But past that, like, even the things that come to mind. Iron Fist? Wait no, that’s a Caucasian dude. There’s really not a lot of room for Asian-American superheroes. So I’m just over the moon I get to play literally me, a 14-year-old me, in this film. It’s kind of a dream come true.

I’m Filipino and 23, and even I was like “Dude! That’s me!” when I was watching.

Ryan: Yeah! Exactly! I think that’s why the film did so well, because how relatable it is. Every character you see on screen. Any audience member around the world can find a character on screen and be able to relate to them one way or another. Whether it’s the way the look or whether the way they act.

About your philanthropy. You’ve played heroes on screen and you’ve become sort of a hero for kids, and I know you’ve also been an advocate for NOH8. What attracts you to being so active in your community?

Ryan: I’ve never quite understood why. I really don’t have a reason behind it other than the fact that I know I need to help in one way or another. When I moved from Japan to the United States, it was a huge culture shock.

Because how prevalent the homeless issue is in the United States kind of blew my mind. Because in Japan, the homeless population, they hide themselves much better than they do here. And driving down places like Hope Street and downtown LA, and even now it’s just branching out and there is just more and more homeless people every day. It just really breaks my heart.

I didn’t understand [back then] why these people were living on the streets and didn’t have a home. So, I think kind of from that, and then having experiences with being bullied in middle school and high school, and that’s why I reached out to the NOH8 Campaign.

But I don’t know. I’ve always [wanted to help]. Even now, a job I that I would love to take on is being a firefighter. Ever since I was a little kid, in kindergarten, [they asked] “What’s your dream job?” I drew this picture. “Oh, I wanna be a firefighter.” And the little caption below, they asked why do you want to be a firefighter? I said, “I want to break down doors and save people!” [laughs] I don’t know, it’s an old passion of mine. Just to be able to help people and save people one way or another.

That’s awesome. Hollywood could benefit from way more people like you.

Ryan: [laughs]

With the Success of Star Wars weekend this move from Disney was a no-brainer. As a previous guest on the Disney Cruise lines, they are swapping out The Pirates of the Caribbean theme for the Star Wars theme and it sounds freaking awesome. I may have to book a trip for next year and report on this. Hey Jonathan, can i write this off as a work expense?

Briefly: The Super Bowl spot for Tomorrowland didn’t show off a ton of new footage, but it’s really hard not to be excited for the May 22nd release.

In the film, “former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.”

The Iron Giant, Ratatouille, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird is at the helm of this one, and the script comes from Bird himself and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof. We’re damned excited for this one, so take a look at the new teaser below, and let us know what you think!

IDW Publishing will begin releasing a new collection of Disney Comics in March 2015 with the publication of Don Rosa’s Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck Artist’s Edition.

Uncle Scrooge #1 will debut in April, Donald Duck #1 in May, Mickey Mouse #1 in June, and Walt Dinsey’s Comics and Stories #721 (maintaining the original numbering) in July. The new IDW titles will be #1’s, but will continue their classic legacy number inside the issues.

disney-events-calendar

The four premiere issues will have 48 pages at a price point of $3.99, with each subsequent issue having 40 pages. Each issue will feature two regular covers and one unique cover that will have the characters in different environments featuring theme park attractions.

I’ve never read any classic Disney comics myself but if they are anything like the cartoons I watched over lunch as a kid I’m sure I’ll love them! I’ll be sure to check these out this spring.

Are you a long time fan of Disney comics? Does this news have you excited? Let us know in the comments below.

Briefly: A few days back Marvel debuted the first teaser teaser (yep, teaser for a teaser trailer) for this year’s Ant-Man… except that teaser was pretty unique in that you couldn’t really watch it because the damned thing was “ant-sized”.

Marvel has finally debuted a “human-sized” version of the same teaser, so our eyes can now witness the bad-ass first footage from the film. It’s a pretty quick look, but it makes me very excited to see what Marvel shows us tomorrow during Agent Carter.

Take a look at the footage below, and let us know what you think! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th!

Briefly: We’ll be able to see the actual first look at Ant-Man during Tuesday’s premiere episode of Agent Carter (can you believe that it’s already here?), but Marvel’s just taken the overused and uninspired ‘teaser for a teaser’ formula… and made it even more frustrating.

Yep, it’s a teaser for next week’s Ant-Man teaser, but ant-sized.

Have fun (not).

Again, catch the full teaser on the January 6th episode of Agent Carter!

Briefly: We’re now just seven months away from Marvel’s beyond-anticipated Ant-Man, and a just released promotional banner has just given us our first look at the villainous Yellowjacket.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen any news come from the film, but seeing as a 1:48 long teaser trailer has recently been classified, I’d imagine that this dry spell will end soon, and colour us excited.

Take a look at the promotional banner below (and click for larger), and be sure to let us know what you think! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th!

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Briefly: I love this teaser.

Too often today (read: all the time) a film’s first teaser or trailer reveals all too much of the film, leaving little mystery for the viewer to wonder, talk, or speculate about.

The first teaser for Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland is the exact opposite of that. It’s a short, beautiful look into the world of the film, but it reveals just enough for us to think ‘oh.my.god. this looks incredible’ before concluding. Now we’re left to speculate for who knows how long.

Briefly: Alright, so this first teaser trailer doesn’t show much of Pixar’s next likely-masterpiece, Inside Out.

In fact, it spends far more time looking at Pixar’s past films than it does showing off its latest, but I still felt tears welling up and goosebumps on my skin. Nobody can tug at the heartstrings like Pixar does, and I’m sure that Inside Out will carry that tradition, especially since it’s about emotions.

Here’s the synopsis:

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Inside Out is coming from Monsters, Inc. and Up director Pete Docter, and stars Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Phyllis Smith, and plenty of others. Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! Inside Out hits theatres on June 19th, 2015!

Briefly: Marvel is already having a great year, but they’re not even close to being done with us (or our wallets) yet. Sure Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the best films of the year, but Marvel and Disney have also teamed up to create the first Marvel animated feature: Big Hero 6.

The film is “an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the CG-animated “Big Hero 6″ hits theaters in 3D on November 7, 2014.”

Today, Disney debuted a new trailer for the film. It definitely gives us a much better look at the feature’s plot, and even goes into the origins of Baymax. You can take a look at the video below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: The rebels are coming.

Disney has just announced the anticipated premiere date for their phenomenal-looking new series Star Wars Rebels.

The series will begin with a one-hour movie titled Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, which will be available to DisneyXD members on September 29th, while us regular folk will have to wait until its television premiere on Friday, October 3rd at 9 Eastern.

The series itself will begin to air just ten days later on October 13th. The story unfolds during a dark time when the evil Galactic Empire is tightening its grip of power on the galaxy. Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet and are ruining the lives of its people. The motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost – cowboy Jedi Kanan, ace pilot Hera, street-smart teenager Ezra, the “muscle” Zeb, warrior firebrand Sabine, and cantankerous old astromech droid Chopper – is among a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, they will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

As Disney states: “The television movie garnered rave reviews at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con fan event for its story (set between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV) and its look – akin to the classic Star Wars trilogy. The series designs are influenced by the work of original Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie.”

Take a look at the first seven minutes of Star Wars Rebels below, and let us know if you’ll be tuning in!

Briefy: Following the casting additions and full synopsis released just yesterday, Marvel has debuted the first official still of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man.

The still certainly reveals little about the character (except that he wears an ugly hoodie), but it’s exciting to see the long-troubled film finally starting to come together.

You can take a look at the still below, and be sure to let us know what you think! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th!

Paul Rudd

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Briefly: The long-troubled production of Ant-Man seems like it’s finally back on track, with Yes Man director Peyton Reed now at the helm, and a batch of new cast members joining the project.

The most notable casting addition is John Slattery, who will again play Howard Stark. Here’s who else you’ll be seeing:

The film also includes outstanding additional cast including Corey Stoll (“House of Cards,” “The Bourne Legacy”), Bobby Cannavale (“Danny Collins,” “Annie,” “HBO’s “The Long Play”), Michael Peña (“End of Watch,” “American Hustle”), Abby Ryder Fortson (“Togetherness”), Judy Greer (“13 Going on 30,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”), David Dastmalchian (“The Dark Knight,” “Prisoners”), Wood Harris (“Remember the Titans,” “The Wire”), John Slattery (“Mad Men,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 2”) and Gregg Turkington (“The Comedy,” “On Cinema”) and multi-hyphenate T.I. (“American Gangster,” “Takers”).

Marvel also debuted a new synopsis for the film, which you can read below.

With all of the casting and director changes, are you still hopeful for the film? Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th, 2015.

After playing the Avengers and Spider-Man Play Sets at E3, we were already confident that the campaigns would easily surpass the level of freedom and fun offered by its predecessor. As if these two open world sets weren’t already enough, a post launch Guardians of the Galaxy story was revealed just in time for the film’s big release. At Comic Con, we got some time to play within the confines of Knowhere, and found that despite being part of the same game, this Play Set manages to stand out as its own, unique experience.

Unlike the open world sand box games that the previous two sets play like, the Guardians set plays much more like an action/platforming title, facing off with waves of enemies while you traverse the mechanical environments. Featuring large scale battles that will pit you against everything from foot soldiers to enemy space ships, there’s no telling how much crazier the full set will actually be, all the way up to the inevitable showdown with Ronan The Accuser.

Each of the Guardians plays distinctively from one another, which is further showcased by the huge skill tree that has become one of the cornerstones of the upcoming sequel. For example, Star Lord uses a mix of his pistols and jet boots for a variety of attacks, Gamora relies on her sword to cut down the opposition, Drax displays his strength and battle prowess with his twin knives, Rocket fights with his arsenal of explosives and automatic guns, while Groot’s slow, lumbering movement balances out his immense power and long reach. In addition to their standard combat abilities, special moves also come into play, which charge up as enemies are defeated. Gamora’s increased speed and Drax’s power boost, for example, further distinguish each character, which will surely lead to sibling fights when the game is available for purchase.

Rounding out the cast in the demo version were Yondu, (who also appears as a temporary support character through his Marvel Sidekick Power Disc), The Collector, and Cosmo the Dog, who all provided missions for the team to tackle as the adventure progressed. Sadly, Howard the Duck was nowhere to be found, but there’s still time between now and this holiday to squeeze him in. What do you say, Disney? It has to be done!

From what we’ve played, it looks like we have three varied campaigns, a nearly limitless world creator with the Toy Box, and numerous ways to customize our favorite characters. The first game had six Play Sets by the time it was all said and done, so it’s safe to say that there will be even more in store for us as the game ages. Perhaps an X-Men Play Set?

What other Marvel worlds are you hoping make the cut? Disney Infinity 2.0 will hit stores as both a standard, and incredibly awesome collector’s edition, on September 23rd.

Briefly: Disney XD has just debuted the first seven minutes of their anticipated new series, Star Wars Rebels. The extended preview  does exactly what it intends to, and gets us excited as hell for what’s to come.

Starring a small band of heroes — Sabine, Kanan, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper — Star Wars Rebels is set in a time where the Empire rules through fear and shrouds the galaxy in darkness. This trailer offers many new glimpses at sequences from the show, including the starship Ghost chased by TIE Fighters; young Ezra watching as a Star Destroyer looms overhead; Stormtroopers marching; a zero-g fight between our heroes and Imperials; and Kanan, a secret Jedi, assembling his lightsaber and preparing for battle. It ends, however, with an Imperial officer reporting to the Inquisitor — the Empire’s Jedi hunter, seen and heard here for the first time. Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and IV as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy and a rebellion begins to form. The series, executive produced by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman, is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD.

Here’s what Disney said about the preview:

In this special extended preview of Star Wars Rebels, the Empire arrives on Lothal — bringing tyranny with them. Imperials and stormtroopers establish an intimidating presence on the planet, enforcing strict new laws for trade and arresting citizens for expressing dissent of any kind. A young boy named Ezra, however, discovers that a mysterious group is attempting to steal cargo from the Empire. Intrigued, he tries to take it for himself – and ends up on the run from both Imperials and this small band of rebels.

Disney has just released a new video for Disney Infinity 2.0 showcasing the  Gravity Falls power discs in action. As previously reported by Josh Jackson, Disney seems to be going all out with new characters and even more customization.

Disney Infinity 2.0 is due out this fall.

Remember during Sony’s E3 press conference when they announced that Sony consoles would get an exclusive Disney Infinity 2.0 collectors edition, featuring The Hulk? Well, after over a month of silence since, the package has finally been revealed, and it includes a lot more than just angry Banner.

Included in the package is the entire Avengers team from the film, including the three standard pack ins, (Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow), in addition to Captain America, Hawkeye, and of course, Hulk. The green giant will only be accessible through this package for the first month, at which point, he will be released in stores for everyone’s consumption. But who really wants to wait a month to complete the team?
And yet, that’s not all that the collectors edition has in store for us. In addition to the three extra figures, every box will come with a huge Infinity Base that doubles as a display, featuring a humongous Frost Giant in the background. Said to glow when plugged in, this base is the perfect way to both play, and display your new Marvel figures in style.

Retailing at $149.99, paying double the price for a game that already promises to eat through your wallet with its numerous characters to buy is a bit of a hard sell. Yet, if you’re planning on buying all of the characters, and they continue to retail for $12.99 each, it seems like a good idea to plunk down the extra thirty bucks or so for the base too. Plus, I’m already imagining displaying a super team to take down that giant. Frost Giant vs. Snow Queen, anyone?

In addition, the announcement also detailed a new PS3 bundle, featuring the standard starter pack and a 12gb console for $249.99, so if you have kids who want the game, but no PS3, this seems like the way to go. Too bad there aren’t any console bundles that include the collectors edition.

With so many games fighting for your dollar this holiday season, are the Frost Giant base and early access to play as Hulk enough of a reason for you to pick up this deluxe edition?

As an extra bonus to the Kingdom Hearts faithful who reserve the upcoming 2.5 HD Remix, Square Enix announced that pre ordered copies will come with an exclusive Disney pin, featuring Sora and Mickey with a hanging keyblade chain.

Marketing the pin as a free upgrade to the limited edition, (while essentially just being a pre order bonus), the game itself will include Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep: Final Mix, both of which will mark their debut outside of Japan. In addition, a non-playable retelling of Kingdom Hearts: ReCoded, the cell phone game turned handheld title will get the bonus treatment in the same way 358/2 Days got in the first HD collection. Then again, we’d probably be better off ignoring it.
Throw in the pin on top of that, and you’ve got what sounds like a pretty sweet deal. These often end up being hot collectors items, and those who are into collecting them are REALLY into it. Have you seen how much these things go for on eBay?

While our limited edition still isn’t as awesome as the Japanese collectors edition, the pin is pretty sweet. Has this announcement affected your decision to pick up 2.5 when it releases on December 5th?

Disney Interactive has released a new Disney Infinity 2.0 trailer, showing off their two newest character reveals, (which means two more figures we’ll have to throw money at). After teasing Stitch last week, the adorably destructive alien is joined by Peter Pan‘s Tinkerbell, both of which will be able to work their magic in the Toy Box mode of the game.

While two new Disney based additions to the roster are definitely welcomed, the bigger news might be the new vehicles and environments hinted at in the trailer. A Gravity Falls theme? Darkwing Duck’s Ratcatcher motorcycle complete with side car? It begs the question… What else will 2.0 have in store for us when it releases? Either way, it looks like the game is looking to include properties spanning generations to reach the young and the young at heart.

Considering that many people were concerned over a potential lack of Disney with the obvious focus on Marvel, these additions on top of the previously revealed Maleficent and Merida figures ease those concerns a little bit. Even still, we’re yet to see any Disney themed Play Sets, so we won’t know if we’ll be able to take these new characters into their own campaigns until later. With that said, these figures and items are seemingly great additions, especially when you consider Stitch’s blasters and Stitch’s surfboard, (complete with Stitch on the nose), were in the first game, making his inclusion overdue. What if Stitch rides the surfboard though? Stitchception!?

Which characters, items and themes do you want to see make it in? Does seeing The Ratcatcher in a new game hit that nostalgia bone? And who else wants to see some Rescue Rangers content next? Tell us what you want to play with when Disney Infinity releases this fall!

Briefly: Marvel is already having a great year, but they’re not even close to being done with us (or our wallets) yet. Sure, we’ve got the fantastic-looking Guardians of the Galaxy hitting theatres this August, but Marvel and Disney have also teamed up to create the first Marvel animated feature from Disney: Big Hero 6.

Today, Disney revealed the full voice cast for the anticipated feature. You can take a look at new images of the film’s characters below, and find out who’s playing who!

Hiro

Hiro Hamada (Voiced by Ryan Potter): Robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada has the mind of a genius-and the heart of a 14-year-old: his state-of-the-art battle-bots dominate the underground bot fights held in the dark corners of San Fransokyo. Fortunately, big brother Tadashi redirects Hiro’s brilliance, inspiring him to put his brain to the test in a quest to gain admission to the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. When a tragic event changes everything, Hiro turns to a robot named Baymax, and they form an unbreakable bond-and two-sixths of a band of high-tech heroes on a very important mission.

Baymax

Baymax (Voiced by Scott Adsit): Baymax cares. That’s what he was designed to do. The plus-sized inflatable robot’s job title is technically Healthcare Companion: With a simple scan, Baymax can detect vital stats, and, given a patient’s level of pain, can treat nearly any ailment. Conceived and built by Tadashi Hamada, Baymax just might revolutionize the healthcare industry. But to the inventor’s kid brother Hiro, the nurturing, guileless bot turns out to be more than what he was built for-he’s a hero, and quite possibly Hiro’s closest friend. And after some deft reprogramming that includes a rocket fist, super strength and rocket thrusters that allow him to fly, Baymax becomes one of the Big Hero 6.

Fred

Fred (Voiced by T.J. Miller): Fanboy Fred comes off like a laid-back dude with no direction. But this sign-twirling, monster-loving, comic-book aficionado is sure to go places-when he’s good and ready. For example, Fred doesn’t hesitate to join “Big Hero 6,” and he has a lot of ideas for his super-hero skillset, too. His ferocious, fire-breathing alter ego comes complete with claws, integrated communications and a super bounce. But his sign-spinning may still come in handy.

GoGoTomago

Go Go Tomago (Voiced by Jamie Chung): Aptly named Go Go Tomago knows what it takes to be fast. She’s tough, athletic and loyal to the bone, but not much of a conversationalist. Popping bubble gum and delivering well-placed sarcasm are totally her speed. The daredevil adrenaline junkie is at her best on wheels, and when Go Go joins forces with Big Hero 6, she rolls like never before, using maglev discs as wheels, shields and throwing weapons.

Wasabi

Wasabi (Voiced by Damon Wayans Jr.): Wasabi is committed to precision. He’s super smart and just a touch neurotic, but the big and burly beatnik can’t help but join the cause when Hiro needs him most. As part of “Big Hero 6,” Wasabi amplifies his martial arts skills with jaw-dropping plasma blade weaponry. Sharp doesn’t even begin to describe this guy.

The original Disney Infinity left a big impression on me, so much so that I considered it my game of show at last year’s E3. With the promise of multiple single player campaigns in the form of play sets combined with a nearly limitless level designing tool in the toy box, the possibilities seemed to echo the title. Much of these impressions carried over to the actual release, although my expectations fell short in certain areas, namely the same-ness of many of the characters, how bare bones some of the play sets felt and how the game initially promised to not need sequels while possibly replacing movie tie in games with Infinity content, (which was quickly proven wrong by the 3DS’s Olaf’s Adventure and the very game we’re talking about).

Still, the game had a ton of untapped potential that a sequel could capitalize on, especially because of Disney’s acquisition of giant properties like the Marvel universe. With that in mind, playing 2.0 was a top priority for me this year, both as a fan of the original and someone who was eager to see if Disney Interactive would adapt to the comic book universe or perish in a sea of broken promises and failure to improve. After an in depth playthrough of the game’s two play sets, I’m happy to say I’m leaning towards the former.

InfinityCap

To me, the biggest problem with Disney Infinity was that the campaign style play sets mostly felt like samples of what could be done in the toy box as opposed to fully fleshed out games, (aside from the Pirates set, most of what each was built from was ripped straight from Toy Box). With 2.0, this criticism has been fully addressed, giving us a huge open world city to explore as our favorite characters. The Avengers version of New York is promising to be more than twice as big as The Incredibles, with capsule toys, side quests and story missions still waiting to be found, all put into context by a full story penned by longtime Marvel scribe, Brian Michael Bendis. It’s a huge improvement from the opening and ending cutscene that greeted us at the end of the first game’s stories.

On top of that, the increased level cap of 20 allows us to unlock between 20 and 30 skills per character, which is a huge improvement compared to the original’s puzzling decision for level ups to mean absolutely nothing aside from unlocking new Toy Box parts. Making this even sweeter was how different each character felt. Firing off trick shots with Hawkeye, throwing down with Captain America, web slinging between buildings as Spider-Man or flying through the city at top speed with Iron Man felt distinctive, as opposed to many of the first game’s characters playing or feeling exactly the same. To top it off, the heroes each have a unique super move with varying in levels of awesomeness, (like Iron Man’s missile barrage vs Black Widow’s… invisibility turning? I know who I’m not playing as…)

InfinityHawkeye

Even the original game’s characters are getting skill trees when they’re transferred into the new games, although theirs won’t be as robust as the new characters being brought in. Still, the fact that they’re getting upgraded at all is a great way to reward players who maxed out their figures despite their lackluster move sets. Plus, maybe some characters can be more fleshed out this time, specifically Anna and Elsa. The developers obviously knew very little about since they were developed before Frozen was released, so let’s hope they can be done justice the second time around.

Joining the heroes will be new power discs that were on display for the E3 demo. Aside from the Toy Box backgrounds, perks and weapons that came with the blind pack DLC of the original, Marvel’s version will also include sidekicks who fight at your side for a limited time, and costumes for specific characters. Ever get the feeling that you want to play as Captain America in his First Avenger gear? Or how about black suit Spidey? Ever wanted to fight side by side with The Winter Soldier after he blew us away in the latest Phase 2 film? Now’s your chance, with these discs that feel like a lot more than just fluff. My wallet is going to hurt.

InfinityIronMan

On the mission front, both the side and story missions felt more involved, forcing me to travel through more of the city to accomplish whatever the goal was. Whether it was racing on Nick Fury’s bike to escorting a scientist to key points in the city as symbiotes were viciously attacking us, these missions made the game feel like a full fledged experience. And while some of the bonus quests I played were still ridiculously easy, some of them presented a nice challenge, like the web slinging missions that I couldn’t get better than a bronze in.

If someone would have told me I was playing the new kid friendly Marvel game and not one that’s attached to a world building simulator, I would have completely bought it. But to think that a game where the single player content is more of the side dish to the Toy Box’s entree plays so well surpassed what I expected after playing the first game. I’m not sure if it’s a testament to Infinity’s developers or a knock at the other guys when web slinging feels more fun in this spinoff than it does in a core Spidey title. My only complaints are that there were some massive bugs, causing mission sensitive enemies to teleport across the map, and that traveling with non-flying or swinging characters felt like a chore. Having to drive as Black Widow when Thor can zip from one end of the map to another in minutes leaves an unbalanced feeling.

Both areas are said to still be in development, so let’s hope these get patched up come September.
