Everyone around these parts seems to be quite looking forward to Injustice: Gods Among Us. It’s a new brawler from the creators of Mortal Kombat, one of the available editions comes with an awesome looking fight stick, and of course we’ve got all of our favourite characters from the DC universe.

Up until now however, we had no idea what the game was about. Sure, everyone’s fighting, but just what is all the fuss about? Today, just over two months before the game releases, Warner Bros. Interactive has filled us in. A new trailer has been released for the game, featuring pretty much all the plot they could squeeze into two minutes.

Check out the new trailer below, and let us know what you think! Injustice: Gods Among Us hits PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 16th!

After Green Lantern flopped massively at the box office, the fate of any sort of DC Cinematic Universe became unclear as it become obvious that Warner Bros. has been skeptical about moving forward with their comic properties. Sure, they had success with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, but they haven’t done too well with any of their other comic properties. Now, in a piece about Jeff Robinov staying on as president of the Warner Bros. motion picture group it has been revealed that the fate of their DC Cinematic Universe all comes down to one man. A man of steel.

Stakes are high for “Man of Steel.” Other than Nolan’s Batpics, Warners has not been able to effectively exploit the DC library. Its 2011 “Green Lantern” underperformed, and a “Justice League” film wouldn’t likely be in theaters before 2015, as Warner’s top brass has indicated that they are awaiting the results of “Man of Steel,” which opens June 14, before moving further ahead.

With Warner Bros. and DC treating this like their equivalent to Marvel’s Iron Man as their jumping off point, the pressure is definitely on Zack Snyder & Christopher Nolan’s new take on the iconic superhero.

Man Of Steel opens June 14, 2013.

Latino Review has just dropped some HUGE new information about the upcoming Justice League film adaptation.

According to the site, they’ve learned which heroes will be in the spotlight of the insanely anticipated film (at least as far as the current script goes). They also broke word of who the main villain would be late last year.

The five super-stars of the film will be: Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash. Possible cameos are thought to include Martian ManhunterAquaman and (less likely) Hawkman.

What do you think of the team? Who would you like to see play those characters? Who would you like to see direct the film? Shout out below!

Justice League is set to hit theatres in Summer 2015.

JUSTICE-LEAGUE2

Netherrealm Studios today released a new trailer for the upcoming (and surprisingly anticipated) DC brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The trailer features our first real look at how Lex Luthor will be keeping up with our super-powered heroes, and we also get to hear a lot of new voice acting.

The game certainly looks presentable, let’s just hope the gameplay is  vastly different from the last DC fighter, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Injustice: Gods Among Us launches on April 19th.

In two weeks Seth Gabel (Fringe) is coming to the The CW’s Arrow  as DC Comics villain Count Vertigo. Word is that Vetigo will be “Oliver’s deadliest adversary to date… He will be truly scary and nightmarish.”  That’s good news, bad news is that we have to wait two weeks to see this episode.

SETH GABEL (“FRINGE”) GUEST STARS WHILE THEA FACES PRISON TIME — Thea (Willa Holland) is in trouble with the police after she gets caught using a drug called “Vertigo.” Oliver (Stephen Amell) thinks the only way to keep her out of jail is to find the dealer, a man who goes by the name of “The Count” (guest star Seth Gabel). Oliver turns to McKenna Hall (guest star Janina Gavankar), an old flame and current Vice cop, for help. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) steps in to defend Thea, and Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) gives Oliver some disturbing news about Moira (Susanna Thompson). David Ramsey, Colin Donnell and Paul Blackthorne also star. Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Ben Sokolowski (#112).

Injustice: Gods Among Us, the new DC fighter from the creators of Mortal Kombat, is nearly upon us. Warner Bros. Interactive and DC announced today that the anticipated brawler will hit store shelves on April 16th for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. The game looks decent from everything we’ve seen so far, but then again, so did Mortal Combat Vs. DC Universe… and we all know how that one turned out!

Along with the release date, yet another version of the game was revealed. Along with the standard and already announced Collector’s editions, a limited Battle Edition will also be up for grabs.

The Battle Edition features everything from the Collector’s Edition (listed below), as well as an exclusive fight stick, so you can absolutely destroy everyone stuck using a standard controller. The newly announced version will retail for $149.99.

Collector’s Edition contents:

-Exclusive DC Collectibles statue featuring iconic characters Batman and Wonder Woman, the Fortress of Solitude, and the Last Son of Krypton’s escape ship

-Special Collector’s Edition of the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic book

-Digital download of DC Universe animated film Justice League: Doom

-Three exclusive skins based on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman from DC COMICS – THE NEW 52

Are you looking forward to this one? Which version are you planning to pick up? How did you feel about Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe?

UPDATE: We just received word from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment that today’s press release contained one small error… Wii U owners, sorry to get your hopes up, but the game is only releasing on Sony’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Damn.

Entertainment Weekly’s Summer preview issue has three new images, well one not so-new image, from some of this summer’s biggest blockbusters for us to check out. Yeah, the one from Man Of Steel was released a bit back, but who cares right?

It’s the time to recap the week’s news and events with The Week In Comics! There wasn’t a lot of news this week in regards to comics but there was some pretty big news to report.

Jame Tynion IV Taking Over Writing Duties On Red Hood & The Outlaws

Red Hood And The Outlaws has been one of the New 52’s best titles so far and it looks like it’s getting even better. James Tynion IV (Talon) will be taking over writing duties after Lobdell finishes up his final story arc. [via Bleeding Cool]

Eddie Brock To Become The New “Toxin”

It’s been revealed that Eddie Brock will be returning to the Marvel Universe. But Brock won’t be coming back as Venom nor will he return as Anti-Venom. No, Brock will be returning as a new incarnation of Toxin, and will definitely be coming head to head with The Superior Spider-Man in the future. Cullen Bunn on Eddie Brock as the new Toxin: [via Newsarama]

You’ll start getting glimpses of him before issue #31, but in #31, Toxin returns. There are a lot of people who say, “Eddie Brock should be the only Venom. He’s the only person worthy of being Venom.” My goal, as lofty as it may be, is, I really want people to forget about Eddie as Venom. What [artist] Declan [Shalvey] and I are trying to do is, once we tell this story, I want people to associate Eddie Brock with Toxin.

It’s a lofty goal, because he has such a big history with Venom, but a lot of people really liked when he was Anti-Venom. We want to make Toxin a viable, interesting, dynamic character on his own — the Eddie/Toxin combo, or “Broxin” as I’ve seen him referred. [Laughs.] Our goal is to really make people love and hate and fear Toxin, and Eddie Brock.

When Eddie and Toxin were bonded in “Savage Six,” he was almost like this mindless killing machine. That is not the Toxin you are going to see. I don’t want to say he’s solidly a villain, but for Venom, at least, he is solidly an antagonist. The one thing that Eddie and Toxin have in common is that they both hate Venom — both the symbiote and the man. That solidifies their partnership to some degree.

New Mystery Series Coming From From Brian Wood And Oliver Coipel

This image was tweeted earlier by writer Brian Wood. The future of Marvel is XX? Coming this April is a new series from Brian Wood and Oliver Coipel. One would assume by the X’s that it’s a new X-title. But, we’ve been wrong before. Then again…does the DNA kind of give it away? An official announcement regarding the title will be made some time in the next month.

Phil Noto Taking Over Art Duties On Thunderbolts

Not a fan of the art on the new Thunderbolts title? Well, don’t worry because starting in March the title will see a new artist. Phil Noto (Uncanny X-Force) will be taking over with issue #7 this March. Will he be bring new life to the title or just Frank Castle’s sex life? [via IGN]

Check back with us again next week as we recap the biggest news and events of the week.

The official Warner Bros. French website has uploaded the previously-seen image from Man Of Steel, but now uncropped and with an interesting description. Keep in mind though the description is being translated from French.

A boy discovers he has supernatural powers and he was not born on Earth. Later, he undertakes a journey to understand where it comes from and why he was sent on our planet. But it will be a hero if he wants to save the world from total destruction and embody the hope for all mankind …

Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14th, 2013.

Yet another Justice League movie rumor has surfaced. According to Latino Review, the same source that recently revealed that Darkseid would be the villain the in DC Comics team-film, has revealed a new piece of information about the film. Word is that the screenplay written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) is being influenced by a particular Justice League storyline from the 1980’s that took place in issues #183-185 of Justice League Of America.

The story, which was written by Gerry Conway and drawn by George Perez, saw the JLA team-up with the Justice Society Of America and involves Darkseid “planning the destruction of Earth by blasting it with a ray that’ll move Apokolips into the Earth’s place”. Wait, Justice League: Dark Of The Moon? Yes, that was a Transformers joke.

There’s currently no word as far as just how much the screenplay will take from the storyline, and at the moment it’s still a rumor. The source is usually fairly reliable, but have been known to get debunked here and there. And it’s pretty surprising that they wouldn’t just pursue the recent New 52’s first story arc for Justice League, which would be a perfect and easy introduction to all of the characters, and would choose to pursue such an obscure storyline. Let’s see how this one works out.

Warner Bros. Pictures has just released a new full length trailer for next Summer’s highly anticipated Man of Steel. This new trailer gives us a much better look at Supes and the supporting cast, as well as some of the trials they may face during the duration of the film! I don’t want to reveal anything, so just check it out below, and let us know what you think!

Man Of Steel opens on June 14. The film is directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Lawrence Fishburne, and more!

How excited are you for this one? As long as it’s nothing like Superman Returns, we should be in for a treat!

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”

A new website, which is owned by Warner Bros.,  Deep Space Radio Wave Project has appeared online. The website appears to be a bit of viral marketing for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel.

Mission Statement

Welcome to the home of the DSRW Project, a private non-profit research organization with a network of world-wide interstellar communication facilities that support the exploration of our solar system and the universe. We believe our research is essential to understanding the origin of life.

Our mission is to capture deep space radio waves and analyze them for patterns and messages. We share our findings with the public and work together to answer the question, “Are we alone in the universe?” Through collaboration, we will separate real communication from galactic white noise.

At the moment the messages have all been decoded and it appears to be a countdown with Kryptonian symbols, which you can check out here. Upon further investigation it appears that this is a countdown to the reveal of something at noon tomorrow!

Not too long ago it was revealed that a Booster Gold television show was in the works. Last word on the series was that Kreisberg was planning on handing in the script for the pilot that will appear on SyFy. Kriesberg, while discussing The CW’s Arrow, has revealed that he will start working on the show before Christmas.

“I got a little waylaid by Arrow. Booster Gold is going in the next couple weeks before Christmas. We’ll see what happens from there. It’s such a different project even though they’re both DC Comics properties. Booster is much more candy and popcorn, being about time travel and changing the future and being a superhero who can fly. But they’re both super-fun projects. As a lifelong DC Comics fan, I am beyond blessed to be working on these projects with all these amazing characters.”

While not revealing that there isn’t much progress on the series, he does reveal that it is still alive. There’s no casting news but last we heard we could expect to see a good number of the character from Booster Gold’s comics. Could that possibly include Ted Kord aka The Blue Beetle? One can only hope.

When it was revealed that Warner Bros. was working on a Justice League film, which is set to hit theaters in 2015, one big question that many wondered is where would Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel fit in with the film. While speaking with the NY Post it seems that Snyder has hinted at what fans were hoping for. When asked about Justice League, Snyder commented:

“I don’t know how ‘Justice League’ is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t. But ‘The Man of Steel’ exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that.”

Then when pressed a little more about whether or not Warner Bros. has asked Snyder to include his film in a DC film universe Snyder replied:

“I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.”

Well, sounds like Man Of Steel may be Warner Bros. equivalent to Marvel Studios Iron Man and may be the jumping off point for a shared DC Universe. This also seems to confirm that we will see Henry Cavill, who has signed a three picture deal, reprise the role in 2015’s Justice League.

Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14, 2013.

The Golden Globes will air on January 13th, 2013. Just two days later, the Academy will announce their nominations: The Dark Knight Rises was very good, but is it good enough to change the way these awards groups typically receive comic book movies?

Warner Bros. has just released two Golden Globes ‘For Your Consideration’ posters for The Dark Knight Rises. They look fairly standard for awards posters, smothered in praise and the mass amount of awards the film would like to be considered for. They look pretty neat in any case, so check them out below!

What did you think of The Dark Knight Rises? If any, which of these awards do you think it deserves?

The CW’s new superhero show Arrow premiered just two weeks ago to rather impressive numbers. We’ve now seen two episodes of Teen Dream Oliver Queen, and the man himself, Stephen Amell recently had a few words to say regarding some of the ciriticisms the show is receiving.

Many people are hailing Arrow as simply a Nolanized version of Green Arrow, or that the show is simply Batman starring a different millionaire. While you can definitely (definitely) see these themes in the show, Amell wanted to let you know just why in a recent interview with The Vancouver Sun:

Arrow’s aesthetic has been compared to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films.

The idea was to make it real…

As real as one can make a superhero show.

As real as you can make it. Now, I understand it’s TV and fantastical things are going to happen but as real as possible and that naturally takes you into the Chris Nolan universe.  If you want to be snarky about it you can say, ‘Well, they’re copying Batman.’  Batman works!

Nolan took his cues from the comic books, which were made to be a darker version of Batman.

And we’re basing large parts of Arrow on Green Arrow: Year One. In Green Arrow: Year One there are tons of people on the island, he gets hooked on heroin, people leave him for dead, really awful things happen to him and I think people want to see a superhero that can be injured. People want to see a super hero, I think, who is emotionally fragile; that had to make real sacrifices.

What he says definitely makes sense: Arrow is simply trying to take a more realistic approach to the Green Arrow story. In a post Batman Begins world, what realistic take on a superhero won’t be compared to Nolan’s work?

Whether you believe it or not, it’s certainly an interesting point, and an interesting interview!

Have you been enjoying Arrow? What are you most looking forward to seeing in the show?

Source: The Vancouver Sun

The CW’s Arrow is bringing one of DC Comics’s deadliest assassins front and center in next week’s episode. While Deadshot may not look exactly like he does in the comics, you can tell they took influence from his Arkham City look for this and it looks one hundred times better than that steampunk cowboy we saw on Smallville. Oh, and they made sure and threw in the wrist gun? Awesome. I have a feeling that this episode is going to be even better than the last two as this show continually seems to improve over time. Check out the latest promo for next week’s episode that invites you to “Meet Deadshot”.

Episode 1×03 “Lone Gunmen”—Oliver (Stephen Amell) is surprised when someone shoots and kills one of his targets. As his plan is to bring people to justice vs. outright killing them, Oliver doesn’t appreciate the help and searches for the gunman. He soon learns that the man, Deadshot (guest star Michael Rowe), is taking out businessmen who are scheduled to bid at an auction on an energy company and Walter (Colin Salmon) is one of the bidders. Realizing he can’t protect his family and stop Deadshot at the same time, Oliver enlists Detective Lance’s (Paul Blackthorne) help, but his plan has dire consequences. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Tommy (Colin Donnell) get caught in an awkward situation with Oliver. Willa Holland, David Ramsey and Susanna Thompson also star. Guy Bee directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Andrew Kreisberg.

Now that Warner Bros. has won their case against the Schuster Heir’s for the rights to Superman it seems that the studio can now focus on bringing their various heroes together for the planned Justice League flick.

We already knew this one was in the works, but  apparently a loss yesterday would have meant serious problems for any further use of one their main character’s key mythology on-screen would have been a major issue for the film. But now, according to The LA Times, who cite a “a knowledgeable person not authorized to discuss the matter publicly”, Warner Bros. is moving full speed ahead with the project.

“Warner hopes to shoot the film next year and release it in the summer of 2015. The studio already has a “Justice League” script in the works. Next it needs to attach a director and then cast the lead roles.”

So, summer of 2015 we may see the ultimate super-showdown between Justice League and the sequel to The Avengers in theaters. The site also confirm that WB are taking a reverse approach than Marvel took when it comes to bringing their characters to the big screen. It seems their plan is “to spin out other superheroes into their own movies following”. I’m a little shaky on that one myself. And to be honest, after the box office powerhouse that The Avengers was combined with their Phase Two films keeping people interested in these characters…I definitely can see the sequel dominating the box office again in 2015.

Did you that Lego Batman had a movie coming out?

I didn’t, so it was a pleasant surprise today when the first trailer was released! The movie looks largely the same as last year’s Lego Batman 2 however, so for anyone that has played the game, I’m not sure how exciting the film will be.

In any case, I’m sure that kids and Batman fans that haven’t played the game will have a blast.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and Creative Director at NetherRealm studios today confirmed two more additions for the cast of upcoming fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us. Both Green Lanter and The Joker will be playable characters when the game releases in April.

The confirmation came via a twitter post earlier this morning:

No screenshots or trailers have ben released featuring the newly announced characters. Boon stated that those should hit later today.

If you haven’t seen much of Injustice, you should definitely check out this gameplay footage. The game looks to be shaping up nicely. In any case, it looks infinitely better than Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

How do you think the game looks? Who else do you want to see on the roster?

After the revelation of the game and some announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, the news regarding  Injustice: Gods Among Us has been a tad slow. Well, minus revealing that there is going to be a collectors edition of the game. But there has been plenty of characters yet to be announced for the game still.

Entertainment Weekly has now revealed the latest addition to the game, the emerald archer himself, Green Arrow.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hits shelves next April.

“After a close call leading to a falling out with Batman and Oracle, Batgirl goes out on her own to reexamine her place in the Gotham and the world at large…”

After a massive premiere at Stan Lee’s Comikaze, the much hyped first episode of the fan created Batgirl: Spoiled is online!
