Geekscape Comics: The Weekly Pull List For The Week Of November 7th!

Every week there’s plenty of titles that hit your local comic shop. Maybe you’re having a hard time deciding which issues to pick up this week? Or maybe you just want to check out something that you’re not reading yet? Well, have no fears long box junkies…I am here to help you out with The Weekly Pull List. Every week I will give you a heads up on what will be the five issues that should be on the top of your stacks and pull lists this coming Wednesday. So, let’s kick off The Weekly Pull List for the week of November 7th!

5. 47 RONIN #1 (DARK HORSE)

– Among the best-known tales in Japanese history, the legend of the 47 Ronin and their epic mission to avenge their disgraced master epitomizes the samurai code of honor. It has been said, “To know the story of the 47 Ronin is to know Japan.”

4. IRON MAN #1 (MARVEL)

1. UNCANNY X-FORCE #33 (MARVEL)

– FINAL EXECUTION races to its thrilling conclusion! X-Force brings the attack to the Brotherhood, but there is dissension in the ranks.

-Genesis faces the truth about Apocalypse and his destiny!

This week’s trade spotlight: Red Hood And The Outlaws TPB Vol. 01 Redemption

– Collecting issues #1-7 of the DC COMICS – THE NEW 52 series!

– The Red Hood is cornered by Green Arrow’s rejected sidekick Arsenal and the alien Starfire – and they want him to lead them as a crimefighting team! Together, they’re about to face threats including The Untitled, Crux and the superassassin known as Essence!

Now, these may be my top picks but there’s plenty of other stuff to check out this. No, really there’s a ton. I mean we also have AvX Consequences, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Earth 2, a second print of Happy #1 if you missed it the first time and many more. Trust me. Your wallet may not like you after you leave your shop.

1. ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #16.1 (MARVEL)

– Young Clark Kent continues his journey toward becoming the World’s Greatest Super Hero but finds dealing with humanity to be a bigger challenge than he ever imagined! From a ruthless dictator to a new love interest who’s NOT Lois Lane, things are never easy for this emerging Man of Steel.

MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE

Marvel NOW! may have kicked off with last week’s Uncanny Avengers but this is the book to check out the future of the Marvel U with a collection of one-shots leading into their new titles. It’s got a Nova, Cable and Guardians Of The Galaxy story. You’re sold.

ULTIMATE COMICS IRON MAN #1

– Demon in the Armor? What dark motivation drives reckless Tony Stark to be one of Earth’s greatest heroes? Who or what is Ultimate Mandarin?

 

AvX: CONSEQUENCES #2

– Spinning directly out of AVX #12, find out what happens next! What ramifications will the fallout of AVX have on the Marvel Universe?

It’s hard to pick between this and XO Manowar as Valiant’s best relaunched series. Oh, who am I kidding here? It’s Harbinger and there’s still plenty of time to catch up before this issue hits stands.

THE WALKING DEAD #103

– It is a new beginning for THE WALKING DEAD.

Rick Grimes is no longer in charge, and nothing will ever be the same again. It’s such a perfect jumping on point, it could easily have been a new first issue – but instead, the world’s best selling creator-owned comic just keeps moving forward, with #103 and counting!

It’s The Walking Dead…just shut up and read it already.

This weeks trade spotlight: ZOMBIES CHRISTMAS CAROL

– There will be no singing this Christmas – only screaming! Marvel presents Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol…with a ghoulish twist! As London is overrun by a plague known as the ‘Hungry Death’ – a disease spreading rapidly among the surplus population – the poor turn into the undead and hunger unendingly. UNCANNY AVENGERS #1

– THIS IS IT! The greatest era of the Marvel Universe starts here! From the ashes of AvX an all-new, all-different Avengers assemble!

This is the book that should be on top of your stack hands down. With Rick Remender (Uncanny X-Force, Venom) and John Cassaday (Astonishing X-Men, Captain America) teaming up on what is set to be Marvel’s title of the year. I’m pretty sure everyone over here at Geekscape has this on the top of their lists. So should you.

ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN #17

– The Mutant Resistance Army continues to grow. Can Kitty control it?

– Master Mold Vs. The X-Men. The shocking conclusion to UNITED WE STAND and bold new beginning for the team!

If you haven’t been reading Ultimate Comics X-Men...you should be. Arguably one of the best X-books out there right now.

MARVEL UNIVERSE VS THE AVENGERS #1

– In MARVEL UNIVERSE VS THE PUNISHER we journeyed through the ruins of our world.

– In the Bram Stoker Award-nominated MARVEL UNIVERSE vs. WOLVERINE we witnessed the fall.

– MARVEL UNIVERSE VS THE AVENGERS is the war.

BATMAN #13

The zero issue of this book was fantastic and hopefully it continues along that path. If you have been wondering about the mysterious Pandora…this seems like the book to be reading.

TRANSFORMERS REGENERATION ONE #84

– LAST STAND!

This week’s trade spotlight: SAGA VOL. 1

AVENGERS VS X-MEN #12

-Extra-sized final issue! It all come down to this! The final battle-as the world burns!

This should be the no-brainer top of your stack this week. Let’s keep it real here.

UNCANNY X-FORCE #32

– FINAL EXECUTION nears its brutal finish! X-Force finally faces the new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants all together!

We’re nearing the end here guys. If you haven’t been reading this series, do yourself a favor and go pick up every back issue. You’re welcome in advance.

ANIMAL MAN #13

– It’s the story you’ve been waiting for: ‘ROTWORLD: THE RED KINGDOM’! Part one of a four-part epic in which the Earth has fallen to the Rot! Guest-starring Justice League Dark, Beast Boy and many other heroes and villains from the DC Universe!

I haven’t been a fan of much of DC’s New 52 but this is sure to be one of their best crossover story arc’s. Jeff Lemire has definitely brought new life to this character and it’s definitely going to be the best DC book out this week.

HYPERNATURALS #4

– Thinkwell, Bewilder and Clone 45 begin to discover just how deep Sublime’s scheming runs, as they discover the lone survivor of the cataclysmic event that seemingly wiped out the previous Hypernaturals team.

It’s a brand new story arc and definitely a perfect jumping on point for readers. If you’re looking for something new this one is definitely worth giving a shot.

DOCTOR WHO #1

– The Doctor is back! Welcome to a new, exciting era for everyone’s favorite Time Lord, as New York Times bestselling writer Andy Diggle pilots the TARDIS as the ongoing series architect.

So, I am not even a Doctor Who fan myself. But, this book is being done by Andy Diggle  (The Losers) and Mark Buckingham (Fables), which means even I may have to check it out.

THIEF OF THIEVES #9

– Augustus’ troubled past comes back to bite him where it hurts – and Redmond’s son has to step up to the plate to keep an angry cartel at bay. Meanwhile: Cohen pushes harder on Conrad.

It’s a book written by Robert Kirkman. Of course you should be reading it.

This weeks trade spotlight: Death The Deluxe Edition HC

– Now in DC’s acclaimed deluxe format, this new hardcover collects all things Death, including DEATH: THE HIGH COST OF LIVING #1-3, DEATH: THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE #1-3, plus extras including ‘Death Talks about Life’ AIDS pamphlet, stories from VERTIGO: WINTER’S EDGE #2 and THE SANDMAN: ENDLESS NIGHTS, the short story ‘The Wheel’ from the 9-11 tribute book, SANDMAN #8 and #20, and art from the DEATH GALLERY!

Never got a chance to check out some of Neil Gaiman’s best work? Well, now you can in one collected edition that also features some beautiful artwork from Chris Bachalo. These stories are definitely one the “must read” list.
