MATCH 1: Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

Cesaro & Sheamus: The current Raw Tag Champions and the unlikely duo of two foreign guys who kinda don’t like each other but are good at punching, kicking and swinging stuff.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson: They were yuge in Japan, like incredible. WWE has kinda made them dull but hopefully Sunday WWE can MAKE THE CLUB GREAT AGAIN

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt – We can only hope that WWE does what it probably should have done almost a year ago and put the belts on The Club. They were beyond over in New Japan and had all it took to just be an incredible and dominating tag team but for some reason WWE thought they’d be better to lose to New Day a thousand times so they could spitefully end a longest reign record. Oh well, whatever and ever amen.

Derek – Does anyone else miss The New Day? Cesaro and Sheamus’ poor teamwork and aggressive antics were certainly entertaining to start, but after ending The New Day’s incredible (and incredibly long) title reign and feeling pretty stagnant ever since, I really, really just want The New Day to get their titles back. A kickoff match with arguably the most directionless tag team in the brand today is probably not the way to make the Tag Titles exciting again. In any case, I think that Sheasaro will retain.

Josh – It’s too soon for Cesaro and Sheamus to lose the belts after all that build up, so they’ll be my picks to walk out with the titles.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – The Club should hold the belts until Wrestlemania. I don’t know who they should lose the belts too though. Honestly they should hold the titles for a while until DIY gets called up. I’d love the shit out of a DIY/Club feud.

Derek – I expect this feud to continue for some time, but I don’t think that Gallows and Anderson get their hands on the titles.

Josh – This situation just sucks because The Club came in with so much momentum, but so many losses have stifled any excitement most of us had for them. Let’s hope WWE pulls something out of their hat before Mania to keep them relevant, with a possible win at Mania in front of a smark crowd to sell the moment.

MATCH 2: SASHA BANKS vs. NIA JAX

Sasha Banks – A legit boss who has won and lose the women’s belt a lot

Nia Jax – A big intimidating bad-ass who sounds like Linda Belcher.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – Nia Jax. I love Sasha but there’s no reason for her to win this if they’re trying to continue to make Nia the super dominating heel.

Derek – It’s been a tough few weeks for Sasha at the hands of Jax, and I think that the Royal Rumble kickoff match will be a great opportunity for The Boss to get some revenge, and also show that, if you have the skills and a lot of heart, you don’t have to be dominated by Nia’s incredible power. Also, is it super weird to anyone else that Sasha is now part of the Kickoff show after having so many huge PPV moments over the past year?

Josh – Nia will take this. The story seems to be focused on Sasha’s attempt at redemption, but not every story has a fairy tale ending.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – Sasha will probably be a little MIA for a bit until Bayley is wearing the belt. The feud of Banks and Bayley was amazing. I could see this match being a scenario to write Sasha off with an injury. Nia Jax will eventually challenge the champion who will also eventually be Bayley.

Derek – Well, Bayley is definitely (probably… maybe) going to end Charlotte’s PPV win streak, and then it’s time for a feud between Bayley and Charlotte.

Josh – The smart move would be to have Sasha continuously fall on hard times, (daddy), so she’ll be justified when she inevitably turns heel like she should have all along. But more on that later.

MATCH 3 – Rich Swann vs. Neville

Rich Swann: The current Cruiserweight champion… he loves to dance and fight

Neville: Proof that turning heel makes you over almost immediately makes you more over.

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt – This should go to Neville. I realize that it’d be making the Cruiserweight belt the biggest hot potato belt in WWE right now bouncing between 4 champions in just as many months but I think Neville is the dominating heel champion that the division desperately needs.

Derek – After seeing Neville’s new attitude and his unreal performance at the WWE’s UK tournament, it seems like the company may be ready to give the high flying superstar the push that he’s deserved for some time. Rich Swan is entertaining as hell, but from the first time I saw Neville in the ring when I began watching WWE just over a year ago, I’ve wanted to see The Man That Gravity Forgot with a belt on him. It’s Neville’s time to shine at this year’s Royal Rumble.

Josh – Since returning, not only has Neville single handedly revived a division that was dying the moment it arrived, but he’s also one of the best parts of Raw as a whole lately. I’m guessing Neville takes it to continue his dominating streak, although WWE does have a habit of making idiotic decisions at times.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – Rematch obviously which Rich Swinn will also lose. I could see Neville holding the belt for a while until someone else gets unexpectedly gets called up or signed. Like Zach Sabre Jr… yeah that’d be cool. Let’s go with that.

Derek – I think this could be a great rivalry that could continue for at least a few weeks on 205Live. These are definitely my favourite players in the cruiserweight division at this point.

Josh – Does it matter? Neville is the only one in the Cruiserweight division with a semblance of a character that isn’t one dimensional. Let him keep running through the division until an underdog finally takes him down. I’m all for Akira Tozawa or Gran Matalik being the ones who do it as long as they’re written half way competently.

MATCH 4 – Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella & Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss, Mickie James and Natalya

It’s a lot of work to break down all 6 of those so I’ll simplify why their where they are.

Becky Lynch lost in a match against Alexa Bliss to get her belt back because of Mickie James. Natayla and Nikki Bella have been feuding for reasons and Naomi wants to be relevant.

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt – Honestly it doesn’t matter but I’d say that Mickie James gets the pin.

Derek – I’m definitely looking forward to this one, though it may mostly be because I’m excited to see some of the WWE’s female superstars face off against potentially different opponents than their regular weekly combatants. As Alexa has won the past few of her duels with Becky Lynch, I anticipate the team of Becky, Nikki, and Naomi gaining the pin in this match.

Josh – With Mickie James on the heel team, it would make no sense to have her lose immediately after re-debuting. This isn’t Lucha Underground after all! So yeah, Team Bliss takes this one.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN:

Matt – Alexa Bliss will have a title shot against Naomi, Becky will have matches again Mickie James for a bit and Nikki and Natayla will probably have something in the Elimination Chamber.

Derek – The WWE hires more women and it means we get more variance in weekly matches? I still want to see Eva Marie become champion.

Josh – All of the existing feuds will continue into Elimination Chamber since these multi person matches are usually filler that resolve nothing. What would be really cool is if these six return in the first ever women’s Elimination Chamber match, but that’s just wishful thinking since WWE typically saves their “history” for Raw.

MATCH 5 – Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley

Charlotte Flair – Her dad is Ric Flair and she’s won the women’s champion a bunch of times.

Bayley – She’s the superfan that we all are in our heart of hearts.

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt – Charlotte. End of sentence. Nothing more to see here. Sorry Bayley.

Derek – After a totally of 983 Pay-Per View wins (and an I’ll-remember-it-forever rivalry with Sasha Banks that had Charlotte come out on top), I think that this Sunday will break Charlotte’s long, long Pay-Per View win streak. It’s going to be glorious.

Josh – Charlotte will retain via some form of tomfoolery to keep her PPV streak alive. One way or another, Bayley will be screwed out of the match, justifying a return match between the two in some form at Wrestlemania.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN:

Matt – Bayley will have another chance at Wrestlemania. That’s the place where Charlotte should lose her undefeated pay-per-view streak. I’m assume Charlotte will win by some type of interference for Bayley to have a reason for the rematch. Maybe Nia Jax run in or a Dana Brooke return or the debut of Emmalina.

Derek – I think that Charlotte needs a break from the spotlight. Naturally, both Women’s divisions are tiny, so I expect to see a few months of back and forth between Bayley and Sasha Banks.

Josh – This feud will be dragged into Wrestlemania, where Charlotte’s streak will be broken by Bayley, either in a one on one match, or in a fatal four way that adds Sasha and Nia in the mix. From there, Sasha’s jealousy will take over and force her to turn on Bayley for accomplishing what Sasha couldn’t after months of trying. Then, The Boss will be back. Not the one who says it and doesn’t back it up, but The Boss we grew to love in NXT.

MATCH 6 – Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns (with Chris Jericho suspended in a Shark cage)

Kevin Owens – He’s our current Universal Champion and his best friend is Chris Jericho who always interferes on his behalf.

Roman Reigns – Gives Vince McMahon boners all the time. No one really likes him much but Vince loves him and gives him the belt too much.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – Only so I see two possible things happening and neither of them involves a clean win. If Reigns wins due it will be due to a Seth Rollins run in since it’s a no DQ match but if Owens win it will 100% be due to Jericho dropping something from the cage because that happens EVERY SINGLE TIME a shark cage is involved in a match. So which scenario is more likely, the fan in me wants to see Kevin Owens retain but honestly I can see them going with the Roman Reigns right now. Not just because it’d make Vince’s nipples hard but because the Seth interference would make sense for multiple reasons. Seth was screwed out of the title for Owens to win and it would continue the Seth wants to fuck over Triple H angle.

Derek – I can’t wait for this match. Seeing KO’s best friend Chris Jericho get in the way of the current Reign’s / Romans rivalry has been entertaining over the past month or so, but the gimmick of having Chris Jericho suspended above the ring is going to be incredibly entertaining. I can’t wait to hear him yelling at Reigns while cheering on Owens, and I fully expect Owens to take the match, and to have Jericho turn on Owens as soon as Chris exits that shark cage (or to take out Owens during the Rumble match, thus ending their friendship).

Josh – I hate to say this, but with Roman losing the US Title and an obvious Jericho vs Owens feud brewing for Mania, Reigns is walking out of this match as the Universal Champion. I’m guessing Jericho tries to drop something into the ring before Roman gets his hands on it and Superman Punch’s Kevin into oblivion.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN:

Matt – Owens will eventually fight Jericho at Wrestlemania. It will either be for the Universal Title… but not likely. I still think Owens will pop-up powerbomb Jericho into a “I have an album to release and tour to go on” injury. If Reigns win I could see him wrestling someone like Brawn Strowman or … really that’s the only person that’s a heel he hasn’t fought on Raw unless they have him wrestle a Smackdown guy

Derek – A sweet, sweet rivalry between Jericho and Owens leading into a huge blowoff match at this year’s Wrestlemania. It has to happen.

Josh – Reigns will walk into Mania and defend the championship against Undertaker, who I’m expecting to win the Rumble later in the night. Owens and Jericho will go on to feud, having one of the better undercard matches on the show.

MATCH 7 – AJ Styles vs. John Cena

A.J. Styles – Some Guy from Georgia … but also our WWE World Heavyweight Champion and fucking amazing

John Cena – Voice of a cartoon Elephant in a Pistachios commercial

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt – A.J. Styles. I realize I’m really going against the odds on this one but I don’t see Cena matching Ric Flair’s title at any pay-per-view other than Wrestlemania or Summerslam. Also just pointing out the last few promos Cena has seemed like a real dick. Not saying a heel turn is coming but… it’d be cool to dream.

Derek – Third time’s the charm? After having two incredible, showstopping matches over the past year (which I’ve definitely gone back to more than once), I think it’s Cena’s time to shine (and also to tie Ric Flair for championship reigns). We’ve been waiting months (and months) for the third match to happen, and with The Club (and any other distractions) out of the way, I’m beyond excited to see these two incredible performers (likely) steal the show once again. Aside from the Rumble match itself, this is the match I’m most looking forward to.

Josh – I would normally go with Cena since history shows that he ALWAYS gets his win back. But this time is different. His 16th championship is special, and shouldn’t happen anywhere but Wrestlemania. So AJ will win, but it won’t be long before John is the champ who runs the camp once again.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN:

Matt – A.J. Styles could have a match against the Miz or if a Raw guy wins the Rumble than John Cena in a rematch where Cena DOES will the belt.

Derek –I could see a cool feud going on between Dean and Cena (or Cena disappearing for a bit to shoot some more TV/Movies). More importantly, I’m hoping that AJ calms down a little bit – I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of his WWE career, but his ‘The Champ That Runs The Camp’ persona has felt a little too present, and for little too long. Seeing him hit the midcard or simply not be the center of attention for a little while could do a lot to refresh the character.

Josh – Despite assuming AJ is winning here, I don’t see him walking into Mania as champion. Yet, I feel like that’s the only option. Both Cena and AJ will be in the Elimination Chamber match in February, but with a roster so thin, I don’t see who could fill AJ’s shoes heading into the grandest stage of them all. We’re in a weird position without Cena winning the title, but knowing all of this, I’ll go with the long shot and say AJ will defend against Cena one last time at Mania, only for Cena to pull through in Orlando.

MATCH 8 – The Royal Rumble

OKAY So we’re doing something a little different because this is a specialty match (or at least I am)

MAtTT’S DEBUTING PREDICTIONS:
Samoa Joe
Kenny Omega
Tye  Dillinger

MATT’S SURPRISE RETURN PICKS:
Finn Balor

MATT’S WINNING PREDICTIONS:
It depends who wins the title matches but:

AJ Styles retains – Then I could see The Miz winning or (in the unlikely chance he makes a surprise debut) Kenny Omega.
If John Cena Wins – It will be Undertaker
If Roman Reigns Wins – It will be Brawn Strowman
If Kevin Owens Retains – It will be Jericho or Sami Zayn

DEREK’S PREDICTIONS
Who will win: Sami Zayn or Chris Jericho. If it’s Sami, he takes out Strowman to win. If it’s Jericho, he wins by taking out Kevin Owens.

Other Rumble predictions:
Tye Dillinger in at #10 (please!)
Both Pete Dunne AND Tyler Bate show up
The Hardy’s return! (I can dream)
Kurt Angle is in the final five
Triple H is NOT in the Rumble
Nakamura is in the Rumble, and heads to RAW afterwards.

JOSH’S PREDICTIONS
Brock and Goldberg will obviously destroy most of the roster, but they’ll end up taking each other out, I’m sure. Once they’re gone, that clears the way for Undertaker or Strowman to win. Considering Strowman being in a title match at Mania sounds as good of an idea as gathering around to watch someone’s staph infection burst, I think that Taker will win and fight for the title one last time at the show that’s defined him for the last decade of his career.

Debuts and surprises:
Kurt Angle
Tye Dillinger at #10
Samoa Joe’s official debut.
Eric Young as the annual NXT wrestler who isn’t actually being called up yet.
Sid, just for the hell of it.
Listeners, welcome to a new world – one where exposure to too many horror podcasts leads to a skinny little wiener popping out of your foreheads and everyone getting drenched in authentic KY Jelly(tm). There’s also some odd sexual side effects, but hey, you’re getting some, so don’t complain. This week’s pick is the delightfully gooey and weird From Beyond (1986), starring Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, and Bubba the Ex-Football Player. If this intro doesn’t get you primed for action, then we don’t know what will… Hope you don’t mind some light bondage, and oh, the safe word is Horror Movie Night!

If the creeping dread of another Cold War hasn’t quite hit you yet, the HMN boys will get you there with 1983’s low budget, killer-alien-in-a-meteorite The Deadly Spawn! This homage (well, more pastiche, really) to the alien monster heyday of the 1950s spent all of its money on creature effects (which are awesome, despite what Adam may think) and then hired people off the street to get eaten by weird hungry tadpoles. Don’t go in your swampy, disgusting basement, cuz it’s Horror Movie Night, comrade!

Hey brother, we watched you flex your 24 inch pythons and vote for the one non-horror film of the year for us to tackle, and you now get to ledgrop aliens all over the place while we discuss the Hulkster’s 1991 sci-if comedy Suburban Commando! You better have said your prayers, taken your vitamins and done the right thing, cuz the Hulk’s bad weave is coming to your spare bedroom, keeping it safe from litigenous grease monkeys, bad bosses and intergalactic warlords. If you’re not feeling these colorful Hammer pants, well too bad, it’s standard issue, soldier, on this episode of Horror Movie Night!

2016 has been a real crap year, so of course it needs to end with an equally crappy horror movie about an totally-unmasked killer stalking women to kill as midnight rings in each timezone! That’s right, the boys are ringing in the new year with 1980s New Years Eeeeeeeeeeevil. This film is what you’d imagine a quaalude nap at Studio 54 felt like, though there would’ve probably been a ton more nudity there too, so really, that’s a lame example anyway. Nevermind, we have eeeeeeeevil to discuss, so if you’re really eeeeeeeeeevil, put on your best Christmas-ribbon dress, slap some rouge across that eeeeeeevil face, and LISTEN. TO. THE REPLAY on the first Horror Movie Night of 2017!

It’s Christmas Eve and boy do we have a surprise for you… We dug deep in our bag of podcast magic and pulled out a very special episode for you, full of Nazis, Grizzly Adams, and of course incest. That’s right, this week’s episode is the abysmal Xmassacre ELVES from 1989! Put on your Santa hat and draw some swastikas on your boobs/moobs as the guys wind their way through the celluloid insanity on display here. There are truly no words for this film, but HMN tries real hard to fill in the awkward silence. Happy holidays and watch out for grandpa, it’s a very merry Horror Movie Xmas Night!

What was that? You didn’t get enough dream sequence shenanigans last week? Well, you’re in luck (and likely a glutton for punishment), because this week, the guys are tackling the uber-obscure direct to video Last Slumber Party (1988)! Don’t even try to make sense of this mess, just take it in and enjoy the absurdity. We’ve got a fresh set of surgeon scrubs and a 1000 yard stare ready for your Horror Movie all-Nighter, pillow fight anyone?

This is the worst named Pay-Per-View in a long times. Like seriously.

Roadblock as a pay-per-view between Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania at least made a little bit of sense. It was like the Roadblock on the Road to Wrestlemania or something… but this? What is it the Roadblock to exactly? Also is the End of the Line subtitle really necessary?

God wrestling is stupid sometimes.

MATCH 1: Big Cass vs. Rusev

BIG CASS – His best friend is a horny little loud mouth who always seems to get himself in trouble and than Cass has to save him … so … He’s kinda like Silent Bob but with Muscles.

RUSEV – He’s from Russia. People harass him and his wife for being foreign and constantly are sexually harassing his wife but because this is wrestling he’s a bad guy. If you’re not sure why consult the first three words I used to describe him.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – Cass is going to win but it should be Rusev. It should be Rusev because he’s amazing, under utilized and honestly is in the right. Enzo was basically kinda sorta definitely sexually assaulting Lana. But this is WWE and as far as I know Vince is still madly in love with Big Cass so I see a big push for Big Cass.

Derek –  I love both of these guys, but Cass is taking this one. Seeing his pal Ezbo get absolutely crushed by Rusev over the past few weeks has to have made him angry. Rusev has made short work of Enzo, but I can’t imagine that he’ll have an easy time with the Seven Footer. Simply wanting to stand up for his friend should give him enough of a push to resist the Accolade and come out on top.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – I think this is a set-up to test the waters of a bigger Big Cass singles push honestly. That’s probably not a bad idea really. Enzo is great on the mic but in general nothing special in the ring. Having him take a more manager role to Big Cass would only be a good thing for both of them.

Additionally Rusev could probably do better if he gets away from the constantly defending his wife from sexual abuse storylines. Maybe have him challenge Owens for the Universal Title. I could super be into a Rusev vs. Owens match.

Derek – I think that this is just the beginning for this particular rivalry. Rusev will lose and it’ll set him off, and then we’ll get to see the crazy, incredibly angry Rusev that we all know and love.

MATCH 2: Rich Swann vs. T.J. Perkins vs. The Brian Kendrick

Rich Swann – Current Cruiserweight Champion. He’s into singing and dancing and fighting.

T.J. Perkins – He likes video games and also fighting

The Brian Kendrick – He likes fighting

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt – Rich Swann. This one is easy. Unless you’ve done something really truly awful it’s rare that they pull the belt off you on your first title defense.

Derek –  A triple-threat Cruiserweight Title match? We’re in for a freaking treat! Rich Swann winning the title in the first place (so soon after Kendrick took it) was a huge surprise. I absolutely love Swann’s demeanour in the ring, and I’d love to see him hold onto this belt for awhile longer. That said, Kendrick simply did not hold onto the title for long enough, and I really see him taking the belt back during the match.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – Rich is going to hold the belt for a while. He’s everything the Cruiserweight division should be. The only real issue is that WWE doesn’t know how to build good characters sometimes. Rich Swann should be more than happy and smiling. Regardless he’s going to hold the belt until Austin Aries is ready for it. Kendrick I think will slowly fade away into a comfortable legends contract with WWE and Perkins will probably turn into one of the main heels in 205 Live.

Derek – Kalisto needs to move over. The dude flips like no-other, and would really bring something to 205 Liveor the Cruiserweight Division, instead of being way underused on Smackdown.

MATCH 3: New Day vs. Sheamus and Cesaro

The New Day – The longest reigning Tag Team Champions ever, it’s pretty impressive

Sheamus and Cesaro – They were forced to be a tag team and they just kinda agreed for some reason.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – There is no reason for New Day to keep holding the belts. Literally none. Honestly they should have lost the belts after Summerslam; but WWE has an issue with spite sometimes. Demolition had the record, but they also have a lawsuit against WWE… with the New Day already pretty close to the record it was a given that they would break that record and middle finger to all things Demolition. Sheamus and Cesaro should win this. Honestly them or The Club should have won this a long time ago. Both of those teams have lost so many times that they have no momentum. But there’s honestly no longer a reason for us to care about New Day and their title reign. Get those belts off them and let’s build to a new Tag Team’s chance.

Derek – This is it for The New Day’s incredible, incredibly entertaining title reign. They’ve now officially become the longest-reigning Tag Champs of all time, and now that they’ve passed The Demolition’s record, they’re losing this match to… Sheamus and Cesaro. I don’t really like Sheamus or Cesaro as singular competitors, let alone as a tag team, so it’ll definitely be disappointing to see this one come to a close.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – New Day will get a shot or two at getting the belts back but they will continue to entertain in delight. I could see them doing more singles matches and the New Day becoming more of a group of supportive friends.

Cesaro and Sheamus will hold the belts for a while before imploding and The Club finally getting the belts and maybe actually getting a chance to be a threat (hey Smackdown has done it with the Wyatts pretty well).

Derek – Hopefully, the next day The New Day will become three time champs.

MATCH 4: Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman

SAMI ZAYN – Ska! The Wrestler

BRAUN STROWMAN – If The Bumble took up wrestling

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – Remember that scene in Revenge of the Nerds when Ogre has to arm wrestle the one girl from Omega Mu and she gives him a run for his money? Then at the end Ogre wins but starts crying? That’s how I want this match to play out. I want Sami to just wreck havoc on Braun. Give him the match of his life and Braun just barely gets the win. But he gets the win with hurt pride.

Derek – After all of the squash matches, and all of the build-up, and all of the angry Strowman yelling about a real challenge. Sami was essentially squashed himself by Strowman recently, and I think this match is where the underdog from the underground really shows off the incredible heart that’s inside him, and somehow manages to last the entire 10 minutes. I don’t know how it’s going to happen, but I’m sure it’s set to be entertaining as hell.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – Braun continues to be a dangerous force. He will get eliminated at the Rumble by Sami Zayn (most likely) to set up another big match for them at Wrestlemania (unless the rumor of Sami being in the title picture very shortly is true… than nevermind what I say).

Derek – If Kevin Owens retains the title, and Sami Zayn can stand up to Strowman, can we please give Sami a Universal Title push?

MATCH 5: Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho

SETH ROLLINS – He was a bad guy, now he’s a good guy

CHRIS JERICHO – He was a bad guy, he still kinda is but he hates his best friend Owens who’s also a bad guy so maybe he’s on the route of becoming a good guy?

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – Seth Rollins wins this match. There’s not even part of me that questions it. Owens will probably get involved. Probably with the intention of helping Jericho but instead only making the situation worse leading to a Jericho/Owens match at the Rumble.

Derek – This is one rivalry that I haven’t really had the pleasure of following over the past few weeks. “Sparkle Crotch” was a pretty hilarious moment, and seeing Seth take Jericho’s list really put me on Jericho’s side of this one. I do feel like Seth has been criminally undervalued since his return, and I think that will continue, with Jericho taking the win this time around.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – Jericho will be leaving soon and Rollins will get a match against Triple H. The question is, does Triple H show up in the next few weeks and it builds to a Royal Rumble match or does Triple H show up at the Rumble and eliminates Rollins to build the wrestlemania match? I’m going to assume the latter.

Derek –  I just want to see Jericho have a giant feud with Kevin Owens. These former best friends need to become worst enemies.

MATCH 6: Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair

SASHA BANKS – She’s the Bo$$ and constantly beating Charlotte … unless it’s a Pay-Per-View

CHARLOTTE – Ric Flair’s daughter, she has never been pinned on a pay-per-view

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – I think that with the 30-Minute Iron Women match there’s two possibilities. I think either scenario Sasha leaves still as champion, but I believe that it either ends in a tie or Sasha gets Charlotte to tap a bunch but in the last few seconds she manages to pin Charlotte winning the match.

Derek –  I’m unbelievably excited for this one. The ongoing (essentially forever) feud between Sasha and Charlotte has been incredibly entertaining, and seeing the rivals take part in a 30-minute Iron Man match has a great chance of being Match-Of-The-Night.

That said, it seems as though every time these two face each other, the title changes hands. Sasha won the title a few weeks back in brutal fashion, so this time, Charlotte takes it.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – I think that this really is the final Sasha/Charlotte match… at least for a while. We’re about to hop on the road to wrestlemania and I have a feeling by March Sasha will be uber heel in order for Baylee to get the next big push in the women’s division. Charlotte has some unfinished business with Dana and I forsee Dana getting involved in a match (if not this pay-per-view definitely Royal Rumble) to retrigger that feud (speaking of which where the fuck has Dana Brooke been?)

Derek – Bayley… Please give Bayley a shot at the title.

MATCH 7: Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns

KEVIN OWENS – He’s big, mean and an absolute delight. People love him.

ROMAN REIGNS – He’s big, cheesy and a decent enough wrestler. People Hate Him.

WHO WILL WIN
Matt – Kevin Owens. I can’t see them having Roman Reigns carry the Universal Title and US Title just a little over a year since Seth Rollins did the same thing with John Cena. That being said, Owens isn’t gonna win clean… something is going to happen. What I don’t know just yet. Maybe Rusev or whoever is going to be challenging Reigns next for the title… perhaps a surprise Finn Balor return?

Derek – I’ll probably get booed for admitting it, but I’m a Reigns fan. I fell for the guy last year when I first started watching WWE, and to this day don’t understand all of the hate that he constantly receives. I also really enjoy Kevin Owens, and as much as I’d love to see Reigns take the Universal Championship… there’s no way in hell that the company lets it happen. Owens takes this one for sure.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – Reigns will get back to where he belongs… defending the US Title. He’ll probably have a few softballs against Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel and Titus O’Neil. I don’t know who will actually win that title until the next NXT call ups. As for Kevin Owens I think we are building to a giant Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens Wrestlemania event and I can’t wait for that.

Derek – I’m not sure what’s next for Reigns, but I just want to see Jericho and KO fight forever.

Wake up to a dream within a dream about a mouthbreathing, galoshes-wearing, teen-killing weirdo that may just be your body’s reaction to a bad chili dog from the cafeteria, cuz the HMN boys are taking on the ORIGINAL meta horror comedy, 1980s Student Bodies. On this day, we are all nonsensical murderers with a cold, poking fun at the first wave of slasher flicks and the dumb character decisions we all love to hate. In true Horror Movie Night style, the guys are kicking off the holiday season with a film whose themes include (but are not limited to): prison, death penalty, alcoholism, bigotry, prison rape, trucker hats, and the ever-present electric ghost. That’s right, we’re talking Renny Harlin’s 1988 diamond in the rough PRISON! If you ever wondered what Aragorn was doing before that idiot Frodo came along, or what Deebo was up to on Thursday, this is the movie for you. Burn your bedding but keep the trucker hat, cuz it’s getting hot in solitary this week on Horror Movie Night!

This Sunday Smackdown is gonna Creep, just keep it on the down low… they’re gonna chase waterfalls and no scrubs are welcome because TLC is gonna make you feel so damn unpretty.

Yes that’s right this Sunday is the Smackdown Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view so let’s see what we have to look forward to.

kalistocorbin

MATCH #1 – Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin in a Chairs Match

Kalisto – The only lucha wrestler on the main roster that matters (but keep your eyes on 205 Live for many other greats).

Baron Corbin – He’s like a weird biker guy? Once I saw him live and my friend kept making fun of him for being bald… I have no evidence that he heard us but I think I saw him crying that day.

WHO IS GOING TO WIN:
Matt – This one is pretty tough to call because both of these guys are so down on the card it feels. If there was any of these matches that had a risk of getting knocked into the pre-show, it’s this one. That’s how unimportant these guys have become.

If I had to pick (and I do) than I’m gonna go with Baron. It feels like Smackdown could use another solid mid-card heel and Corbin can be that.

Derek – I’m so sick of the ‘We need to crush this little bug” storyline. And Kalisto’s incredibly quick, super-flippy Lucha things often lead to some of the most entertaining matches in the WWE. Also I find Baron super boring at this point, so… Kalisto better take it

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – Kalisto will probably flounder a bit longer before they move him into the 205 Live roster where he’ll be able to truly shine. Baron will continue to have some good feuds while they try to build him into a bigger and badder threat. No longer in a tag team (more on that later) I could see Heath Slater being a good early opponent to give Baron and little more of a push upward.

Derek – Baron Corbin has another boring rivalry with someone else, and Kalisto continues to not get enough screen time. Or he goes to Raw to hang with the Cruiserweights.

wwe_tlc_2016_nikki_carmella

MATCH #2 – NIkki Bella vs. Carmella in a No DQ Match

Nikki Bella – She’s married to John Cena and is the star of two popular reality shows on E! for this reason WWE loves her.

Carmella – The Baddest Bitch out of New Jersey, also she can moonwalk like a motherfucking G

WHO IS GOING TO WIN:
Matt – Carmella. It will be doing this match that Natalya reveals that she’s the one who attacked Nikki at Survivor series. She will interfere and allow for Carmella to take the victory.

Derek – I’m really looking forward to this one. The short-ish rivalry between Nikki and Carmella has led to some brutal attacks, and some brutal moves inside the ring. Whether or not Carmella attacked Nikki prior to Survivor Series remains to be seen (at the time of this writing), but even if Carmella didn’t do it, she certainly didn’t look upset about it.

This has been Nikki’s biggest rivalry since her recent return, and with Carmella’s “You’re only successful because of John” comments, I think Nikki takes this one in order to prove Carmella wrong.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – Nikki Bella will begin feuding with Natalya while Carmella feuds with Becky Lynch and will remain heel until Royal Rumble. I have a strong belief that at the Rumble she will reunite with her “boys” Enzo and Cass backstage and they will bring her back to reality (although Enzo’s been walking around backstage naked and slut shaming a bunch lately so that’s kinda heelish but this is WWE where sexual harassment actually makes you the biggest face in the company).

Derek – Natalya was totally the one who attacked Nikki, and their rivalry is next.

skysports-the-miz-dolph-ziggler-wwe-tlc-2016_3838127

MATCH #3 – The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler in a Ladders Match

Dolph Ziggler – If Skid Row fell in a vat of toxic waste and emerged as one man who loves Shawn Michaels … it’d be Ziggler

The Miz – Imagine if a reality show star suddenly became a movie star who wrestled and … well that’s actually his origins for real.

WHO IS GOING TO WIN:

Matt – The Miz has elevated the I.C. belt in ways no one could have ever expected, that isn’t stopping just yet.

Derek – This is going to be awesome. As someone who has only started watching WWE in the past year, and The Miz vs. Ziggler at No Mercy was probably the best match I’ve seen thus far.

Now it’s the two of them again, but with a ladder added to the mix? Amazing.

Ziggler has lost to Miz many times throughout this rivalry, so I think it’s again Dolph’s turn to take home the gold… especially after that scream-at-the-tv finish of Smackdown 900.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – Unfortunately I’m running out of ideas for Dolph Ziggler. Maybe he turns heel and has some matches with Apollo Crews to give his character direction? He definitely helped making Corbin matter for a hot minute.

As for Miz? What I’d love to see is the surprise debut of Tye Dillinger and he challenges The Miz and shocks with world with a first match win against The Miz. Establish him as someone important right out the gate since it took approximately 5 years for WWE to realize his talents.

Derek – I… really don’t know. I just hope it’s not more Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

20161129_tlc_match_tagteam__41bf421de93e2d5ef368bacb9b8425f3-0

MATCH #4 – Beauty and The ManBeast vs. The Wyatt Family

Beauty and the ManBeast – Basically a Redneck joke that has overstayed it’s welcome

The Wyatt Family – If Captain Howdy possessed … a redneck joke that overstayed it’s welcome.

WHO IS GOING TO WIN:

Matt – The Wyatts. I know it seems crazy and I feel like every month I’m predicting WWE finally booking the Wyatts correctly but for the first time in years it feels like they got it. Between the surprise Wyatt victory at Survivor Series, the addition of Orton to their ranks and now Tuesday’s victory over American Alpha I think it’s time the Wyatts are genuine threat.

Derek – I am loving Beauty and the Man Beast. Heath Slater’s ‘I GOT KIDS I NEED THIS JOB’ gimmick is hilarious, and possibly made him the most interesting character I’ve seen in my year of watching WWE. I was beyond excited to see the duo claim the Smackdown tag titles, but I don’t think that there’s any chance they’re leaving TLC with the belts. I don’t know a lot about Orton, and I haven’t seen Wyatt (or mostly the family) be anything but annoying in nearly every match since I began watching WWE (last year’s TLC being my first PPV), but their pairing is interesting, and as two of Smackdown’s biggest superstars, they’re either taking the titles, or Luke Harper is going to interfere and ruin the match.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – Heath and Rhyno go their separate ways. They should have never been tagging for this long. That wasn’t where that story should have lead to begin with. Heath will return to the mid-card where he’ll be a beloved goof-ball and feuding with people like Baron Corbin and the Miz. The Wyatts will be a dominate heel tag team champions for a few months until they lose to American Alpha at Wrestlemania when Randy Orton turns on Bray.

Derek – As Bray’s former right-hand man, Harper can’t be pleased about this new partnership. I expect that things will blow up between the trio pretty quickly, if it doesn’t happen at TLC.

lynch-1024x576

MATCH #5 – Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss in a Tables Match

Becky Lynch – She’s like that hot girl at the convention who’s SUPER into Steam Punk

Alexa Bliss – She’s like that hot girl at the convention who’s SUPER into cos-play

WHO IS GOING TO WIN:

Matt – I’m going with the unpopular pick and say Alexa Bliss. I think she’s the most deserving person to dethrone Becky and while it seems really early for Lynch to lose the belt this quickly some characters are best used as the chaser instead of the chased. That’s the case with Becky.

Derek – As much as I’d like to see Becky be champion forever, her last match with Alexa, the tension between them at Survivor Series, and the seemingly huge push that it seems like Alexa has been receiving over the past few months makes me think that, at least for a short time, we’ll see Alexa as the Smackdown woman’s champion.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt – Alexa Bliss will be champion for a while. She’ll get challenge by Becky Lynch first (obviously) followed by perhaps Nikki Bella and then Naomi but it won’t be until the dangerous Auska comes to the Smackdown women’s division that Bliss loss the belt.

Becky will feud with Carmella after losing her rematch withe Bliss. She will remain pretty important to the women’s division but they’re going to be using her more in “Four Horsemen fatal fourways” at Combined pay-per-views more than anything.

Derek – I think that the feud will continue and that Becky will have the title back within a few weeks (which will make Alexa even angrier)… or that Eva Marie will return and soon be woman’s champion.

Yeah… that last one may be unlikely, but it’d be about as unexpected as that Goldberg / Lesnar match two weeks ago.

wwe_tlc_2016_styles_ambrose

MATCH #6 AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match

A.J. Styles – Ain’t Nobody breaking this Redneck

Dean Ambrose – He’s a lunatic according to his nick name

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – A.J. Styles will win this one but there’s a lot that I think could happen. There’s the Undertaker, who promised to get whoever fucks up things at Survivor Series. Does he get involved with this match? What about Elsworth? Does he get involved? There’s so many possibilities but I don’t think any of them end with Dean leaving with that belt.

Derek – I kind of find AJ and his soccer-mom hairstyle irritating (especially the exorbitant smugness he’s displayed since becoming the WWE World Champion a few PPV’s ago). Because of this, I’d love to see Dean take the title back, as his short run (and his obvious lack of caring) was a hilarious and refreshing break from the usually intense drama.

But… Styles wins. He’s too popular to use it at this point, and if the Styles / Undertaker rumours are true, that rivalry will have more weight if the Deadman is facing a champion.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – A.J. Styles continues to be the Champ that runs the camp until Wrestlemania. There’s only one thing that could make me change that prediction and that’s if Undertaker gets a title shot against A.J. Styles. If that happens then I think it’s possible Taker wins the belt for John Cena to dethrone in a retirement match for the belt at WrestleMania.

As for Dean who knows really. I’d be down for some Dean vs. Corbin maybe?

Derek – I think there has to be some truth to the Styles / Undertaker rumours. I just hope that it’s because ‘Taker wants some more time in the ring, and not because they don’t think he’ll be able to perform at Wrestlemania.

If you thought that ROBOCOP was too believable and MANIAC COP’s story was too easy to follow, then boy do the guys have a movie for you! This week, Adam throws the group into robot karate class with 1987’s inscrutable cyborg crimefighting cringer R.O.T.O.R. Unsure why all the strongly-worded suggestions against this pick went unheeded, Matt and Scott grasp at their fraying sanity as Adam teaches his mustache jujitsu. It’s about as 80s action cinema as you can get, so bring your C4 to the newest episode of Horror Movie Night!

Do you like metal?? This movie may or may not be metal! It’s not necessarily good metal, but yeah, the central theme is more or less “metal” – of course we’re talking about 2015’s NZ shredfest Deathgasm! You can tell the protagonist is totally metal by his Trivium posters… Super duper metal, guys. He realizes the whole town has figured out what a poser he is, so he summons a demon to steal everyone’s souls and their ability to tell him he needs to practice more. Let’s just say he’s no Slumber Party Massacre II Driller Killer, all right? Get your corpse paint and nail gauntlets, we’re heading out into the woods to shoot a lofi black metal video, because that’s how we roll on Horror Movie Night!

Hello Fantasy Bookers. It’s time to predict who the lone survivors will be at WWE’s Lone Pay-Per-View this month so let’s tackle Survivor Series head on. WWE is giving us 4 hours of show and 2 hours of pre-show to cover 6 matches, this … this could be bad.

kendrickkalisto

MATCH 1: Brian Kendrick vs. Kalisto for the Cruiserweight Title

The winner of this match gets not just the title but the entire cruiserweight roster will move if the title is won by Kalisto.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – There’s almost no chance Kendrick wins this. I’m confident that Kendrick only won the title last month to lose to Kalisto. With WWE announcing the all Cruiserweight show 205 Live airing after smackdown on the network it’s basically written in the stars that Raw is giving away the Cruiserweights to smackdown.

Derek – The Cruiserweights are headed to Smackdown. With 205 Live launching on the same night, having Cruiserweight matches on Smackdown will be a great lead-in. Kendrick’s fight for the belt has been an interesting one, but now that he has it… I’m not really sure what he does with it. Kalisto wins.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – While the Cruiserweight title seems designed specifically for someone like Kalisto I think he will only be champion for a month or two. By Royal Rumble the title will be on someone a bit more marketable in the WWE sense. I’m thinking Rich Swann or Cedric Alexander. The real question is where the fuck is Jack Gallagher!?

Derek – I don’t know what Raw does with that extra time (and how Smackdown manages to fit in even more content), but I’m excited to see 205 Live launch, and a Cruiserweight match right before will certainly get me in the mood for it.

MATCH 2: The Miz vs Sami Zayn for the IC Title

This is the other title at risk of trading shows. The Miz just won the title on Tuesday completely changing the direction this match could go.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – This is a tough call. One part of my brain says that Sami Zayn wins this. WWE trading the Cruiserweight title to Smackdown in exchange for the IC Belt on Raw. The other part of me thinks we won’t have every title match be a title change. I’m going to stick to my original opinion though and I see Sami Zayn getting the win. Sami needs the title more than Miz at this point (But props to MIz for elevating this title in a HUGE way). It would be wrong of me not to quickly shout out Geekscape favorite Mega-Ran for his prediction that Miz retains by a Dolph assist. If Miz is retaining on Sunday, I want that to be the reason.

Derek – Sami Zayn. He deserves to be champion. I loved The Miz’ last run at the IC title, and The Miz v. Ziggler was probably my favourite match of 2016 so far, but it would be a super neat dynamic to see the title change brands.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – The Miz is going to return to Smackdown empty handed. It will be more fuel for the verbal lashings between him and Daniel. This will also keep a Dolph and Miz feud going a little longer, but let’s hope both of them are out of the IC title picture by the Royal Rumble in favor of a different challenger.

As for Sami I can really see Sami continuing the amazing work done by Dolph and Miz to make the title matter. Raw doesn’t have much going in the mid-card however so I believe his first challenger would have to be Bo Dallas or Curtis Axel but … that could be a good thing. It’d give Sami a few decent wins while making both of those guys who currently have nothing to do… have something to do. I don’t see anyone taking that belt of Sami on Raw though.

My dream scenario is for the next few months Daniel trying to bargain a trade with Raw to get Sami and the belt back on Smackdown. Sami will stay at Raw, Owens will lose the Universal Title before Wrestlemania and in jealous rage try to take the belt from Sami. When sami goes over Owens at Wrestlemania he will decide he has tackled all the competition on Raw and agree to trade to Smackdown for new competition.

Derek – Hmm. Owens and Zayn continue their forever rivalry and Owens tries to hold two belts at once? Or Jericho goes after Zayn so that he and Owens can both have belts.

sstagteam2016-600x338

MATCH #3 – SURVIVOR SERIES TAG TEAM EDITION

There’s nothing at stake besides bragging rights in this (or any) Survivor Series matches. For that reason I’m not going to be breaking down the “What happens next” portion and instead focusing on how I think the match will play out.

TEAM RAW: New Day, Sheamus/Cesaro, Gallows/Anderson, Enzo & Cass & Shining Stars
TEAM SMACKDOWN: Slater/Rhyno, American Alpha, Hype Bros, The Usos & Breezango

Matt – I’m thinking this is going to go to Raw. They have a more stacked tag-team card right now. I think Shining Stars will be the first time eliminated. Followed by the Hype Bros. Next I could see the Usos going out, Enzo and Cass will follow shortly after (They can take an early elimination).

Here’s where I think things will get wacky. I think Slater and Rhyno get eliminated. This will be a way for American Alpha and Breezango to have bragging rights and reasons to go after the Smackdown titles. Why Breezango you might ask? They’ve been getting a lot of attention and praise on Talking Smack, I think it’s possible we see a bigger push for them shortly… even if it’s just for them to be the Heel Tag Team Champions that American Alpha defeats for the titles at a later date (probably Royal Rumble).

Once Slater and Rhyno have been removed. Breezango will follow shortly after. American Alpha will get New Day Eliminated but their elimination will come via Anderson/Gallows walking out on the teams when Big E is reaching for a tag. Sheamus and Cesaro will be the lone survivors though taking out American Alpha and earning another title shot at New Day’s belts.

Derek – How this match will even work I have no idea. 10 on 10 is freaking insane, and with Heath Slater refreshed and renewed thanks to his new double-wide, team Smackdown is going to take this one thanks to The Beauty and the Man-Beast. Also, where is the Golden Truth? After the PPV The New Day will continue to entertain us (though they’re for sure going to lose the titles soon). Gallows and Anderson continue to be boring as hell, and Breezango take the Smackdown titles.

MATCH #4 – SURVIVOR SERIES WOMEN’S EDITION

Again there’s nothing at stake besides bragging rights in this (or any) Survivor Series matches. For that reason I’m not going to be breaking down the “What happens next” portion and instead focusing on how I think the match will play out.

TEAM RAW: Charlotte, Bayley, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks and Alicia Foxx
TEAM SMACKDOWN: Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Carmella & Naomi

Matt – I think this one will be a shocker and end up going to team Smackdown.

Early eliminations will go to Alicia Foxx, Carmella and Naomi. From there I see Nia Jax going out unexpectedly follow by Alexa Bliss and Nikki Bella… you should see where this is going.

It’s going to turn into a Four Horsewomen 3 on 1 match between Banks, Bayley and Charlotte vs Becky. Bayley will be first to be eliminated. Banks will come in next but when things get rough she’s going to reach out to tag Charlotte and … Charlotte will already be halfway up the ramp. Team Raw might lose, but Charlotte’s “never pinned at a PPV” streak will remain intact. Banks will eat the pin and Becky will stand tall as both Smackdown Champion and the lone survivor for Team Smackdown.

Derek – Just looking at the promo image for this match – Bayley, Fia, Sasha, Charlotte… This one has to go to RAW. I think that we’ll see Charlotte vs Becky to finish the match off, though I’d love to see the insane power of Nia Jax shown off in this one.

Hopefully in the future Becky can keep the Smackdown belt forever (and I’m also a Natalia fan, so if she’s going to lose it, it would be neat to see Natalia get a shot). Sasha and Charlotte keep trading the belt forever and it’s super entertaining.

survivor-series-mens-teams

MATCH #5 – SURVIVOR SERIES MEN’S EDITION

For the 3rd and final time, there’s nothing at stake besides bragging rights in this (or any) Survivor Series matches. For that reason I’m not going to be breaking down the “What happens next” portion and instead focusing on how I think the match will play out.

TEAM RAW: Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Brawn Strowman
TEAM SMACKDOWN: AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Shane McMahon

Matt – This should go to Smackdown, but I just can’t see a situation where Vince won’t let Raw stand tall. Just like Nexus or WCW … Vince needs to make sure his baby looks best at the end of the day. That being said, we can still make it compelling.

I think Shane McMahon is in this match to take the first pin and Chris Jericho won’t be far behind. I think it’s revealed that Bray has control over Strowman early on and he has Strowman walk out (I know I’ve predicted a walk out in every match but when every team is filled with people who hate each other it’s bound to happen more than once). Bray is out next… potentially via Orton backstab (but it’s too damn early for that if you ask me).

Owens, AJ and Randy will be next to go because much like the women’s needed a Four Horsewomen moment, this needs a Shield mini-reunion. Dean will eventually eat the pin with Rollins and Reigns both standing tall.

Derek – This is actually my first Survivor Series… I’m not overly sure how things work, or how the booking generally goes. Based on the brands alone, I see Team RAW taking this one, and I’m pretty sure it’s not going to happen, but a Bray vs. Braun finish would be absolutely incredible. This could also be a great moment for Chris Jericho to turn on his best friend Kevin Owens in order to get some well deserved time in the spotlight. Randy continues to become a Wyatt, things fall apart between Chris and Kevin, and AJ continues to be an annoying champion.

20161026_match_survivorseries_goldbergbrock_2k-77ab1cb06956f526f26eb7826b72ca4a

MATCH #6 – Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar

The match designed because of a video game. Goldberg and Lesnar happened years ago and from everything I’m told was a huge disappointment. So now it’s time for a rematch.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt – So I’m not sure if Brock is going to win, but Brock isn’t going to “lose” for real if that makes sense.

WWE has invested a lot of energy into making Brock Lesnar this unbeatable monster. You don’t end that to Goldberg in a one time appearance. There’s rumors of a Shane McMahon vs. Brock match at wrestlemania, if that’s true than I see Shane fucking things up for Brock in order for Goldberg to get the win… but I don’t think that will happen. If anything Brock wins this clean.

Derek – Goldberg. It has to be Goldberg. It’s his last match ever, and I’m sure that he didn’t agree to come back just to job to Brock. After Brock’s less than stellar Wrestlemania and Summerslam performances, I just hope that The Beast doesn’t phone this one in, and gives Goldie the respect that he deserves. If this week’s Raw was any indication, it should be a good one.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt – Depending how bad this match goes will determine if we get a “Round 3” of this match up in the future. I don’t expect that though, I’m thinking it’s a one and done match. I think soon we need someone to beat the Beast and I (like most of the internet) believe Nakamura is the man for the job. I”m hoping with all my heart that we get that at Wrestlemania this year. I even put it on my Christmas list. Please Santa Baby! I’ve been pretty good for the most part.

Derek – Goldberg is gone for good, and Brock disappears for awhile. Maybe we’ll get a neat Brock vs. Braun storyline whenever he comes back again.

What better way to ignore the inescapable dread of real life than with a horror movie that makes almost no sense?? This week, Scott picked 1988’s Phantasm II (another sequel that’s arguably better than its predecessor), and promptly spent 30 minutes trying to explain to Matt and Adam why it’s awesome. Spoiler alert, they don’t agree. Idiots. So grab your quad-shot sawed off and dwarf actors’ union application, it’s Horror Movie Night!

What hell hath HMN wrought? Upon Matt’s insistence, a fan submission and our better judgment, the guys suffered through 2002’s z-grade abomination Terror Toons. Watching this made one host giddy, while the others cursed the inventors of green screens and their own births. Hold onto your insane fake boobs and your nu metal CD binder, it’s another episode of Horror Movie Night!

I was gonna write a big long intro but then Molly summed it all up in a few sentences:

“Anyone else REALLY hate when pay per views are named after gimmick matches? Seriously, it’s on mischief night. There was literally no better time to bring back Halloween Havoc. Whatever. Your loss, WWE. “

bayley-vs-dana

Match #1 – Bayley vs Dana Brooke

Bayley – Female Sami Zayn. She’s all about hugs and being a fan girl for wrestling. It’s almost impossible to hate her.

Dana Brooke – She looks tough but then talks… and then wrestles. It’s almost impossible to like her.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: I obviously want Bayley to win… but that’s the whole point of Bayley, you want to see her succeed but she never does … until Wrestlemania (spoiler for my future predictions). Dana Brooke has got this one on lock.

Molly: Dana takes some notes from Tetsuya Naito and spends the whole match focusing on a single body part (ie Bayley’s arm) to get the clever win

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Dana will eventually turn on Charlotte Flair and have a nice little back and forth with her. Bayley will continue to try her hardest and eventually get to a big moment at Wrestlemania… possibly in a Four Horsemen Fatal Fourway Main Event.

Molly: After the war flashback to NXT Season 3 in which we had to watch two great athletes doing anything-but-wrestling-on-a-wrestling-show, Dana and Bayley should have what they should’ve had in the first place. And that’s a smart, almost as old as Ultimo Dragon wrestling storyline in which a competitor brutalizes the shit out of one of their opponent’s body parts to get a believable win that also proves them to be smarter than you thought. If Dana focuses on destroying Bayley’s arm, it would make sense why Bayley couldn’t get a win off the bayley-to-belly suplex, or fully lock in a submission. So a Dana win would be expected and deserved. Thus leading to Dana trying to further prove her candor before facing hell at the hands of Sasha Banks for EVER thinking she’s a badder bitch than Sasha. While Bayley goes on to do as I said she’d do in my Sasha vs Charlotte paragraph.

wwecwchiac

Match 2: Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado, and Sin Cara vs Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, and Ariya Daivari

It’s going to take a lot of time giving a breakdown on all these guys and WWE Raw can’t seem to be bothered to promote these people as individuals anyway so instead I just recommend watching all of the Cruiserweight classic for everyone except Sin Cara. If you want to know more about Sin Cara I suggest the Scooby Doo Wrestlemania Mystery DVD.
WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: This is the hardest one to predict because there’s literally nothing building this match. WWE has barely attempted to actually have a cruiserweight division. They made some of their best content with the CWC but then just said ‘fuck it’ with the actual division. I’m going to lean towards this being a victory for Nese, Gulak and Daivari … specifically with Nese getting the pin. This is for no other reason than I could see Vince wanting to push Nese sooner rather than later.

Molly: Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado, and Sin Cara will win for the sheer fact that we all know the heels aren’t going to pull this one out (and you know I’m being honest because I’m saying this despite the fact that Drew Gulak could stretch me the fuck out at any given time).

What Happens Next:
Matt: I could see Tony Nese and Cedric being used for lots of big things in WWE and pushed to a non-Cruiserweight position. Tony Nese will most likely be the next person to chase T.J. Perkins. As for these other guys, it’s too early to say. I hope WWE actually gives the cruiserweights the 40-60 minutes of TV time they deserve each week and I can predict other things. In the meantime at least I can hope that Gentleman Club will continue in Chikara until WWE realize the prize that Drew Gulak is.

Molly: I don’t really get why they just tossed Sin Cara into this mix. Guess they figured no one would really notice and he’d just blend in? You can’t really blend in when you’re one of the guys in the spangled cerulean mask. Sin Cara needs to state why he’s come to take up space in this stacked division, and most sensibly, it’s because he’s been offered an opportunity on the RAW roster than former teammate and obvious future cruiserweight champ, Kalisto, can’t take advantage of. That in mind, Sin Cara really shouldn’t be on a team in the first place. So when the faces get the win, Sin Cara takes full responsibility and declares himself the rightful #1 contender to the belt. Cedric and Lince don’t react well to this, cause now both have matches against Sin Cara to win contendership. Lince wins so we get the Kendrick vs Dorado match that should be coming from this gradual push Dorado has been getting on RAW. Meanwhile, Nese and Gulak will continue to be my dark horse favorite in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic until they’re ultimately fed to the Big Shield- I mean, Authors of Pain.

wwe-hell-in-a-cell-2016-enzo-cass-gallows-anderson

Match 3: Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

Enzo and Cass – Jay and Silent Bob… the wrestlers.

Gallows & Anderson – The toughest guys who never win in WWE.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: Enzo and Cass will take this win. They don’t need the win as much as Gallows and Anderson… but I’ll get into that below.

Molly: Gallows & Anderson will win by strangling Enzo and Cass with the last shreds of dignity they have

Josh: Poor Gallows and Anderson came in as such a big deal, and now they’re just… kind of there. Enzo and Cass work well as the underdog team, so them losing won’t mean much. The Club however, needs whatever momentum they can regain, especially after Anderson ate two singles losses in two weeks, one of which was in seconds. Gallows and Anderson are my picks.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: So Molly will probably read this and want to throw something at me but luckily for me I’ll be safe in Disney away from her death glare. This is coming from someone who’s pre-WWE knowledge of these two goes no further than what Molly has told me and one match I saw. I think we are going to see Anderson and Gallows lose a lot over the next few months. That is until about Royal Rumble.
By the time Rumble comes around New Day will have broken the record officially. It’s around here I could see Anderson and Gallows starting to kiss ass with the reformed Authority (I doubt GM Foley makes it to the end of 2016… more on that later). They will win with Authority interference at the Rumble but it’s at Wrestlemania that they will reveal the “leader” of their little club. Once they have a leader to point them in the right direction they will really shine as an unstoppable force in WWE… until WWE throws the belts on Enzo and Cass.

Molly: I’m getting really sick of having to convince people that Anderson and Gallows are actually really good. I’m hoping this run they’re on is like when Samoa Joe first arrived in NXT. Those unfamiliar with Joe weren’t interested in him cause he wasn’t performing at top form and his booking didn’t spark intrigue. Then he hit his stride and started strong style-ing the fuck out of people and now he’s arguably the best wrestler on NXT. I’d like to hope following this drizzling shits run that the Club has been having, they’re going to be allowed to get more aggressive, and wrestle like they’re in guerilla warfare. Have them go up against Cesaro & Sheamus with the atmosphere that this is heel vs heel. Give me death, or give me the death of the Swiss-Irish connection at the hands of the Club.

Josh: It’s clear that The Club is being built back up, possibly to take the Tag Team Titles once the New Day breaks the record. They’ll keep treading water until that time comes. As far as Enzo and Cass, there’s a reason they’ve been kept mostly separate from the title scene. Expect them to make waves closer to Wrestlemania season.

wwehiac_tag-800x450
Match 4: The New Day vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

New Day – Our Current WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS … they’re funny about 90% of the time which is more than I can say about most of the Raw Comedy bits

Cesaro and Sheamus – The will they/won’t they tag team that hates each other and is forced to fight together based on a technicality

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: I wish that I could say it’s Cesaro and Sheamus because I think it’s been time for the New Day to drop the belts for a while now… but I really do think they’re gonna keep them champs until they break the record in December.

Molly: The New Day thanks to the obvious impending implosion that is Cesaro and Sheamus’ partnership.

Josh: This is a hard match to call because either result flies in the face of common sense. As hard as The New Day have been pushed to break the tag team title record, it would normally be a given that they’ll hold the belts until it’s been surpassed. On the other hand, Cesaro and Sheamus have had months of development invested in them, across 10 singles matches and a series of tag team battles where they seemingly can’t get along. That normally means they’re in line for a fluke win. Still, throwing away a few months is better than throwing away a whole year, which is why New Day’s reign will continue after the show closes.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: The New Day will continue to be a dominate team until Royal Rumble after they have shattered Demolitions record. Cesaro and Sheamus will just keep being the “will they? won’t they?” tag team until they turn on each other and we get another best out of 7 series.

Molly: The New Day is just gonna keep doing what they’re doing cause, I mean, if it ain’t broke? Granted, I’d like to see New Day do something different. However, anytime they try to be serious (their feuds with the Wyatt Family and the Club) it never lasts after they win the feud. They go right back to being happy fun-time New Day. So how bout we stop trying to make them super serious? You already have 4 other champions you can take seriously on RAW. Let us see a fully fleshed out feud between the New Day and Enzo & Cass that we’ve been waiting on. Let it start out as a comedy feud in which decent matches are put on that slowly gets more and more serious (the trash talking gets personal, Francesca II gets broken, Carmella gets involved) until we reach the Rumble or ‘Mania, where Enzo and Cass finally get the title and the run they deserve after New Day’s record breaking run is well and done.

Josh: This feud will continue, only because New Day has no heel contenders left, while Sheamus and Cesaro have nothing else to do either. If Sheamus doesn’t challenge for the US Title, I can see this team slowly become a well oiled unit and be more prepared for a second shot. When they lose a second time, that’ll be where the team will split.

maxresdefault

Match 5: T.J. Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick

This is literally the same match as last month’s PPV… there’s not even a new stipulation. Because of that, here’s what I wrote last month:
T.J. PERKINS: Just won the CWC and got a trophy almost as tall as half the people in the CWC. He loves to Dab.

BRIAN KENDRICK: Was one-half of one of the longest reigning tag-teams in WWE history (with Geekscape family member Paul London). He looks like the bassist of the Lone Rangers.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: Perkins will continue to retain, he’s the only person they’re giving any type of story to, they’re not going to hand it to Kendrick as much as I want that to happen.

Molly: Brian Kendrick. Maybe we’ll see some interference from Kendrick’s new buddies, Drew Gulak and Tony Nese, but honestly, Perkins and Kendrick have not had a decent match together once in their run so idk who could save this feud at this point.

Josh: This might be the most head scratching feud of the bunch. On one hand, I feel like TJ needs to establish himself as a strong champion to give this division as much credibility as possible. On the other hand, Kendrick would be completely dead after a loss considering that the storyline is now that he’s old and can’t win without asking TJ to throw the match… Which also flies in the face of the last two months where Kendrick has beaten TJ, Rich Swan and Cedric Alexander relatively clean. Then again, Kendrick is resuming his wrestling school enrollments here in Los Angeles for a November class. Could he be on the way out? Anyway, I’m siding with TJ here.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: T.J Perkins will hold the belt until they move Austin Aries up from NXT. He will come in and be the heel CWC champion who everyone loves to hate and will be absolutely obsessed with seeing get dethroned. It’s what made The Miz’s IC Title run so compelling and why heel champs are frequently more memorable than face champions. Here’s hoping Vince doesn’t shut down the Cruiserweight division before Austin gets to the main roster. It was practically built for him.

Molly: Kendrick is very clearly being built to run the division since, in the strangest twisting of events since 2009, Kendrick is WWE’s chosen guy. If he doesn’t win, then this storyline build has kind of been for naught. What I don’t like is how much WWE has made Perkins seem like a beatable champion. In the cruiserweight division, every guy without a built in reputation will seem like a beatable champion. I just really need to see this feud end so Perkins can start going ham on Nese or Gulak like I know he could. For real, if WWE shows were anything like indies, I’d warn you all to avoid the first 4 rows of seating when these guys wrestle. You’re in the suicida splash zone.

This would lead to Kendrick vs Lince Dorado, which I’m pretty sure is what WWE is building to anyway. Out of that, I hope Dorado just gets some more mic time, or at least a backstage segment to give his character some weight. Most luchadors are forced to depend on their flippy shit to get them over. News flash: audiences come for the flippy shit, then eventually get the fuck out of the way for it and never come back.

Josh: Tony Nese seems to be getting established as the big man of the Cruiserweight division, so knowing how WWE books, I can see TJ moving on to the “unstoppable monster”. Kendrick on the other hand, might float in and out of multiman matches until he’s either completely gone, or shows up on a more limited basis. It’s really hard to be taken seriously after the actual story dictates that you’re too old to get the job done.

wwereignsrusev-850x560

Match 6: Roman Reigns vs. Rusev

Roman Reigns – He could be the biggest star in the world if he had any charm or delivery but instead he’s the babyface that everyone hates

Rusev – He’s the bad guy because he’s a foreigner… and no other reason.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: I want it to be Rusev but I can live with it being Reigns. This is where Reigns belongs right now. Mid-Card US Title run is where he should have started to begin with so this is righting the last two years of wrongs.

Molly: Roman Reigns is going to ride Rusev’s Wrestlemania 31 tank directly into the cell, coming full circle to CRUSH the empty shells that Lana and Rusev have become.

Josh: Much like at Clash of Champions, I really want Rusev to win, but I know it’s not going to happen. I mean, what reason would I have not to? The man had his wedding celebration ruined. He was only given an 86 rating in WWE 2K17. Colorado booed his family! You don’t boo Babushka! Rusev has been wronged at every turn, and Roman will commit one last wrong when defeating the Bulgarian Brute in the cell.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Matt: I usually make sure that I write stuff before I read the other writers predictions but I accidentally saw Josh’s prediction for this already. Then I saw Molly’s predication as well. Just read what they wrote and just imagine me saying “What they said” afterwards as my prediction.

Molly: I miss the old Rusev, straight from the ‘Go Rusev
Chop up the soul Rusev, set on his goals Rusev
I hate the new Rusev, the bad mood Rusev
The always rude Rusev, spaz in the news Rusev
I miss the sweet Rusev, chop up the beats Rusev
I gotta to say, at that time I’d like to meet Rusev
See I invented Rusev, it wasn’t any Rusevs
And now I look and look around and there’s so many Rusevs
I used to love Rusev, I used to love Rusev
I even had the pink Polo, I thought I was Rusev
What if Rusev made a song, about Rusev?
Called “I Miss The Old Rusev,” man that’d be so Rusev
That’s all it was Rusev, we still love Rusev
And I love you like Rusev loves Rusev

Josh: I would like to think that something bigger is lined up for Rusev moving forward, at least for the time being. Since I don’t see Rollins winning the title this soon, I can see Rusev becoming an Authority stooge and keeping Seth busy while Owens plows through a few other challengers. As for Reigns, I have no idea. I literally just scrolled through the entire roster to jog my memory, but there are zero credible heels at the moment that aren’t tied up with something. Everyone viable is either a Cruiserweight, in a Tag Team, or in a feud. My best guess would be a revival of last year with Shemus, but I see this as VERY unlikely.

hiac-1476785323-800

Match 7: Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte

Sasha Banks – She’s our champion again … just like she deserves to be

Charlotte – Recently renamed Charlotte Flair for unknown reasons.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: I have a huge issue with how this thing is being booked honestly. I’m glad that we’re finally getting a women’s Hell in a Cell match but this could have been booked SO MUCH better. Rewatch the build to Sasha/Bayley’s Iron Woman match. It was perfect. Sasha lost to Bayley and showed up demanding not just a rematch. She didn’t just want to win… she wanted to beat Bayley over and over and over again to prove a point. That’s when William Regal walked in and said “Hey, that gives me an idea”.

This was set-up by Banks just saying ‘I want a Hell in a Cell match”, Charlotte said ‘I concur’ and then Mick Foley was like ‘that would be historic and you guys have earned it so sure why the fuck not’. You could have built to this SOOOOO Much better. Have Sasha and Charlotte have matches with each other but each match either has Dana Brooke interference or gets out of control and leaves the ring. Foley decides he NEEDS a definitive finish and the only way to ensure that is to make sure that no one can get in or out of the ring until there’s a winner. We deserve a reason more than just “They earned it”.

That being off my chest… Sasha Banks is going to retain and give Charlotte her first pay-per-view loss of the year. It will be after Charlotte does something INSANE inside the cell that looks dope but ends up costing her the match.

Molly: Sasha Banks probs gonna one up Mankind and jump off the cell onto Charlotte through TWO tables for the win.

Josh: With all of the back and forth this title has had over the last few months, Sasha has to pull out the win in the first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match. The real prediction is whether or not the girls are going to do something crazy to try to create a “historic” moment. I for one, am hoping that the two keep it relatively safe while using the cell in ways that surprise us as a viewer. Nothing too crazy, but the cell can be their canvas to set a standard for what women can do when treated as equals.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Sasha will retain until at least Wrestlemania. I could see her having a decent feud with a returning Emma (I refuse to call her Emmalina or whatever the fuck) and Charlotte will start throwing fists with Dana Brooke.

Molly: Matt and I agreed that we’re not fans of the storyline lead up to this match. “You women deserve it!” What the fuck?! No one DESERVES to be put through the hell of one of the most difficult matches in all of pro wrestling! That’s like saying “hey, you’ve been doing a great job, so instead of giving you a promotion, I’m going to throw you into this pit of snakes, lions, and geese! Dance for us, my monkeys!”

So here’s how I would’ve booked it following Clash of Champions: Mick Foley is the one giving all the women opportunities. Stephanie McMahon is like, “fuck no, the women are not making me money, no one wants to see this, this isn’t how we do things at RAW, I’m in charge and I’m not letting Sasha and Charlotte outshine the likes of MY handpicked stars, Rollins or Owens”. So what does Stephanie do to punish them? Put them in Hell in a Cell where they’ve been given permission to flat out murder each other. Match ends in a no contest, or Sasha just barely retaining. Both women have to be assisted out. Neither show up at RAW the next night. Steph McMahon’s plan has ALMOST succeeded. She’s eliminated 2 of the 4 horsewomen and you can’t do anything about it. But Steph didn’t factor in the likes of Bayley, Dana Brooke, Emma(lina, I guess), or Nia Jax stepping up to take over where Sasha and Charlotte left off. Bayley ascends to the top of the women’s card in a short amount of time. And Sasha and Charlotte return with a vendetta against ol’ pal Bayley.

Josh: With the women’s roster being as thin as it is, I don’t see Charlotte disappearing quite yet. Maybe a fatal four way combining all the women’s feuds on Raw can draw things out a bit? The apparent end game seems to be Bayley vs Sasha at Mania, so once those pieces are in place, I see Charlotte Vs. Dana happening down the line.

wwe-hell-in-a-cell-2016-kevin-owens-vs-seth-rollins
Match 8: Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

Kevin Owens: Our universal champion, probably the most entertaining person on the Raw Roster right now.

Seth Rollins – Was a heel, now is sorta face… will probably be full face by the end of this match.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: Owens is going to retain but Jericho is gonna get involved and it will cause a rift in their friendship.

Molly: Kevin Owen Victory. It’s hell in a cell, so it’s no disqualifications. Therefore, I’m expecting some Jericho interference, and maybe another Triple H sighting???

Josh: This Seth vs. Triple H feud with Owens as a stand in isn’t doing anyone any favors to be honest. While the storyline has been more interesting thanks to Jericho and his comedy, this feud has just been one big stall until Triple H is ready to continue the feud with his former protege leading into Wrestlemania. Knowing that, I think Owens wins here, to give Seth more time to fight Stephanie on the side before his big title win leading into the big show.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Kevin Owens will next feud with Chris Jericho until he leaves for the Fozzy tour. Meanwhile Rollins will continue trying to be champ once again. That’s when Triple H shows up. Survivor Series will be the night. Foley will be gone shortly after that and Triple H will be the new GM. Rollins will be the Daniel Bryan of Raw… constantly getting fucked over by the authority figure… until he beats him at Wrestlemania. He will be our Universal Champion by Summerslam.

Molly: I just love this feud, despite the less-than-stellar build it has gotten. I know that hell in a cell signifies the ending of a feud, but I don’t want Rollins to stop being a chicken-shit crybaby, or Owens and Jericho to stop being best friends forever. So someone please explain to me how Jericho has gone on and on calling himself Owens’ best friend without having a real, legit feud with Sami Zayn? Can we get that started? Bring Sami into a mix he really oughta be in? If any match of this PPV is going to be the ‘blood’ match, it should be this title match to signify the massive amount of bad blood going into and out of hell in a cell between all the men involved. And that level of violence can’t risk dropping in the RAW episodes that’ll follow. I don’t need another Owens vs Zayn feud right now, but I’d be very into Jericho/Zayn, Rollins/Zayn, or (what I figure is the most likely feud to evolve from this match), Rollins/Jericho. Let Rollins get distracted by the only opponent other than the champ that’s deserving of his time. We’ll build more to the full Rollins babyface turn the closer we get to his match up with Triple H at Wrestlemania. Meanwhile, Owens has a couple blow off matches to solidify his reign going into a Survivor Series match against Smackdown champ, AJ Styles. Sure, you may think it’s too early for a brand vs brand match, but I don’t want it to be for any of the titles. Simply for bragging rights. The focus of Survivor Series should be more on, you know, the actual survivor series style matches anyway.

Josh: Given the teased tension between Jericho and Owens, this will be the next big title feud. As mentioned above, Rollins will move onto a brief feud with Rusev before getting back into the title picture in time for Papa H to make his return.

It’s Halloweentime again at the old HMN place, and the guys have once again agreed to subject themselves to an appropriately questionable kids’ movie in honor of the best day of the freakin’ year – this time around, it’s Ernest Scared Stupid from 1991. It’s no Spaced Invaders, but Adam and Scott have reservations, while Matt is, as usual, awashed in a golden shower of nostalgia. Bust out your miak, troll boogers, and weird multi-costume expositional montages, it’s the annual Horror Movie Night Halloween episode!

Brothers can be such a pain… Always needing rides everywhere, always bugging you telepathically while you’re on a date, eating 10 gross hamburgers in a sitting, hiding in the toilet; you know, typical brother stuff. The HMN brothers-from-different-mothers try to keep a lid on Frank Henenlotter’s 1982 cult classic Basket Case in this week’s episode, even though one of their ranks has been chopped in half by a homemade saw device that has the police stumped. If you’re rolling around in your brother’s girlfriend’s guts, you know what time it is – it’s Horror Movie Night!

Well, it must be Adam’s week to pick a movie, because nothing else could explain the inextricable and excruciating experience endured by your hosts at the hands of 1996’s Island of Dr. Moreau. The excellent documentary Lost Souls makes an appearance wearing the same clothes as Marlin Brando while stealing the show. Come WILSON with the rest of the castaways on Horror Movie Night!

The leaves are changing, pumpkins are ready for carving, and your hosts are taking over the October picks, starting with 1988’s Halloween 4! Leave your love of John Carpenter at the door, as he pretty much had nothing to do with this film. Dust off your clown costumes (hello, relevant!), it’s October on Horror Movie Night!

Last month proved that Smackdown is definitely better at the Pay-Per-View game so as we gear up for October we will see if they continue this streak.

MOLLY BONUS CONTENT TO START OFF:

Curt Hawkins Does Something

Winner: Curt Hawkins

How: Off the strength of all those workouts and the stretching he got in filming those promos

The Future: Much like RAW has both Strowman and Jax crushing any enhancement talent that comes their way, Hawkins is going to do that for Smackdown until whoever the champ is at the time (I can honestly see it being Styles, Ambrose, OR Cena) ruins whatever hype has been built and Hawkins becomes a joke that has to start all over again. Hopefully as tag partners with Heath Slater after Rhyno wins his election and leaves. Pretty sure Slater and Hawkins could pull off twin magic flawlessly.

wwe-no-mercy-2016-kickoff-jack-swagger-vs-baron-corbin

Match 1: Baron Corbin vs. Jack Swagger

JACK SWAGGER: They keep trying to make Jack Swagger happen. Jack Swagger will never happen!

BARON CORBIN: Loner Biker who has a watch more expensive than Booker T’s

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt: I didn’t know this match was happening until Molly emailed me her write up. Jack Swagger. They’re trying to make him a thing.

Molly: Jack Swagger.  I GUESS HE GOT HIS SWAGGER BACK OHHHHHH

WHAT WILL HAPPEN:

Matt: They will keep Jack Swagger doing his awkward promos until he fails to get the IC Belt and then we forget his existence. Baron will eventually become one of the top heels in Smackdown if given the chance.

Molly: Baron was on an awesome ride to the top of NXT. Debuting to win the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal was great. What has he done since? Some whatever matches with Ziggler and people who are smaller than him. Who exactly? Idk everyone is smaller than Corbin. Swagger needs a win to place himself as a threat on Smackdown. Against who? Not really sure, since any story where Corbin’s been a threat has quickly been trashed.

You know what I really hope follows this match? Corbin and Swagger get made a team in the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic. I’m a big fan of the classic lucha trope ‘make the enemies into tag team partners’, and Corbin being one half of the team that came in 2nd place is a perfectly valid argument to present to William Regal. We’re probably going to have a shitload of teams in this tournament between NXT itself, the cruiserweight teams, and potential main roster inclusion (I could easily see Sheamus and Cesaro as a team in the tourney), but the longer the tag classic goes on, the happier I’ll be.

nikkicarmella

MATCH 2 – NIKKI BELLA vs CARMELLA

NIKKI BELLA – Dates John Cena, Has a twin sister, was a heel but got an injury that could have ended her career but didn’t so that makes her automatically a face for a few months.

CARMELLA – If you live near north jersey/Staten Island area… this is that chick that demands everyone’s attention on the drunk bus

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: As much as I’d love for Carmella to win this, I feel confident that WWE will give this win to Nikki. She hasn’t had a super major win since her return and this will be a good win for her.

Molly: Nikki Bella. Carmella’s gonna have to be taken out on a stretcher after her eardrums rupture from the sheer volume of Nikki fans screaming when she enters.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN:

Matt: If the world loves me and gives Bliss the Smackdown women’s title later on in the night then I think Nikki will be the next logical challenger after Becky’s rematch. Carmella will continue to fuck up Nikki’s day and maybe even wrecks her title shot against Bliss.

Molly: Nikki is going to get the push for the belt, helping the recent NXT call-ups get over in the process. In working with Nikki, Carmella gets Sasha-level brutal in her heel promos. Snatching edges, reading thots, getting cut off before she can curse girls out. I’d be into Carmella vs Naomi following this cause I feel like these two could really compliment each other and put out a solid match if given enough time and space for creativity. Nikki is going to face Alexa at the next PPV and hopefully lose to give Alexa more legitimacy and heat, making the eventual Nikki win more valuable.

5085a42e014db8cf7998b80e1a858ae6_crop_north

MATCH 3: RANDY ORTON vs BRAY WYATT

RANDY ORTON – An RKO-Out-of-Nowhere machine that was out on injury only to come back and wrestle a match leading to more injuries.

BRAY WYATT – Bray Wyatt is the wrestling version of an 80’s slasher film. Scary when you were 8 but kinda laughable now that you’re an adult.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: I feel like my predictions from last month probably could still apply but I don’t do that specifically. I will still stress that Bray needs this win. I want Bray to get this win. Universe… please give Bray this win. Don’t have some wacky Kane distraction or anything. Just a clean pin.

Molly: Randy Orton. Bray has totally lost himself and he needs this loss to Orton after thinking he’s got it in the bag to make him finally snap completely

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Randy Orton will continue to pop up for unexpected RKOs and occasionally wrestles matches but Bray NEEDS to have a nice long mean streak. A real one. No DQs, no distraction roll-ups… just a strict up winning streak… all clean but cruel. But this is WWE so he’ll most likely job out to a returning Goldberg next week or something.

Molly: WhatCulture did it better than I ever could, so here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4XCq3Q0v3M

mizzigglernomercy

MATCH 4: THE MIZ vs DOLPH ZIGGLER

THE MIZ – Typical Hollywood Sleazeball who is the master of back-handed compliments and mean spirited truth bombs.

DOLPH ZIGGLER – He LOVES wrestling and will loudly tell you about it while crying if wrestling is mentioned near him. He also used to be a cheerleader.

WHO WILL WIN:
Matt: This is the toughest one to call. I love The Miz right now. He’s on fucking fire, but Dolph is one of the first wrestlers I bought merch of. I know that the joke is “retirements are never forever” in wrestling and that Miz could still win and Dolph gets to stay … but I’m going to pretend that the rules are legit in this one. I think Dolph wins this… but by going full heel. I mean like Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena at Summerslam defeat. I don’t just want Dolph to beat Miz… I want him to destroy Miz with violence we never thought Ziggler was capable of.

Molly: Miz cheapshots Dolph with the title when the ref isn’t looking to get the pin. Expect Miz to pull out a figure four to pay tribute to Flair’s famous retirement match.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: The now heel Dolph will retain the belt for a short but decent run. Maybe until the Rumble or the Pay-Per-View after. He has a few good set of matches against Heath Slater and Dean Ambrose but no other wrestler could really use that belt quite like Apollo Crews. They just need to find a way to make the crowd care. As for the Miz? He’ll get his rematches of course but I could see Miz disappearing for a few months to be in another WWE movie or two and making a huge return at the Smackdown after Wrestlemania.

Molly: No one retires forever in wrestling, as I learned when Flair showed up in TNA just a few years after the most emotional retirement match of all time. Just… just shit on my dreams and laugh at my tears, Ric, it’s fine. It only hurts when I breathe.

Ziggler is going to leave. We’ll actually think he’s gone when he doesn’t show up on the next episode, or next bunch of episodes. The Miz’s incredible reign will continue for a while, hopefully until Wrestlemania. But remember what I said at the start of this paragraph when Ziggler returns to throw the Miz out of the Royal Rumble.

wwe_no_mercy_2016_slater_rhyno_usos

MATCH 5: HEATH SLATER & RHYNO vs. THE USOS

HEATH SLATER & RHYNO  – I’ve never seen Trailer Park Boys… but I imagine it’s about this tag team.

THE USOS – They used to wear bright colors and face paint but now they’re bad guys so they dress like NWA rejects Eazier-E and Frozen Water.

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt: The Usos should win this belt. I’ve predicted 3 title change for this pay-per-view and I doubt we will get all 3 of them, but this is the one that I think makes the most sense. Heath and Rhyno are over but Rhyno has other stuff on his plate (or should I say … he has other cheese on his crackers… no, no I shouldn’t say that) and Slater will be over with or without him. The Tag Belts need to be on an actual tag-team, specifically heels so American Alpha can eventually win those titles.

Molly: Heath Slater & Rhyno cause I fucking said so and my word is law

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Rhyno continues his political career until he’s running from President in ten years. Slater will continue to be one of the most popular people on Smackdown. If Miz retains and/or Dolph turns heel for a win, the IC Belt would be a great chase for Slater. Finally the Usos will keep the titles until whatever Smackdown Pay-Per-View occurs between the Rumble and Wrestlemania.

Molly: You may disagree, but this is my take on something I ultimately know nothing about because I’m not in the writers room, locker room, or boiler room of Smackdown and my opinion is moot. That said, unless you actually DO work for the WWE (you don’t), your opinion is also moot. What are we? What is life? What is real and fake any- look, just hear me out on this. Having a comedy tag team could be the best thing for this tag team division right now. It makes every tag team look serious by comparison. I believe when the Ascension came out on Smackdown, that’s the most intimidating they’ve looked since arriving on the main roster. The Usos in this heel gimmick (albeit it comes across a liiiiiiittle too stereotypical ‘thug image’ for my comfort zone) is the most threatening they’ve seemed in a long time. Literally any tag team has a chance against Heath Slater & Rhyno. So give every team a chance! And any wins the champs get will be by fluke or DQ or something silly so the other team will still come out strongest despite a loss. Meanwhile, they’re murdering each other for #1 contendership in matches like Vaudevillians vs American Alpha on free TV. That’s a Takeover-worthy main event – proof these guys are the real deal – you’re getting on TV. So when the belts do eventually come off Slater & Rhyno, you’re gonna hopefully love the team that did it and that’s what we all wanted to see happen.

lynchbliss

MATCH 6: BECKY LYNCH vs ALEXA BLISS

BECKY LYNCH – Imagine if Merida from Brave was SUPER into SteamPunk

ALEXA BLISS – Regina George Cosplaying as Harley Quinn… it’s awesome and sexy and she will be mine one day.

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt: I’m going to assume that Becky retains the belt at the show… it seems like the easy answer but I’m going to disagree with the easy answer this time. Becky Lynch is a great champ but Lynch is best used as a chaser than the one being chased. She’s not John Cena, she’s Sami Zayn. Alexa Bliss has been on fire and her winning this belt so quickly after Lynch has already won it will do wonders for her career.

Molly: Alexa Bliss. I want to see her hit that 450 splash I know she can do, but I feel like she won’t be getting that move back until she turns face again.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt: Bliss should hold the belt till at least the Royal Rumble. She’s doing amazing work as a young and cocky heel and that’s the kind of title reign that the women’s division need.

Molly: I love Becky Lynch. I love her most as the sympathetic, pure babyface who is clearly talented enough to be champion. But she just can’t outsmart the villains like Bliss every single time. Alexa’s another former NXT star that I really think deserved that Women’s Championship. I wanna see her make an excellent heel champ, especially at Becky’s expense. Let the feud continue for a while, because both of these girls can go, and have the title actually go back to Becky again in a fluke win at the nxt PPV. Next Smackdown, Alexa reveals something went awry in the match. She gets her title awarded back, and we move forward feeling more sorry for Becky than ever and hating Alexa so much we wish something awful could happen to her. Like Spirit Halloween running out of Harley Quinn costumes before she can get one.

wwe-ppv-no-mercy-2016-triple-thrat-match-9-oct-1024x446

MATCH 7: AJ STYLES vs. DEAN AMBROSE vs JOHN CENA

A.J. STYLES – If his theme song is any hints about him… he’s a redneck that nobody will be breaking

DEAN AMBROSE – If we did a D&D Alignment chart of professional wrestlers, Dean would be Chaotic Neutral

JOHN CENA – That guy on the Fruit Pebbles cereal box

WHO WILL WIN:

Matt: AJ Styles retains. Who he pins is going to be the big question though. Do they protect the unpinnable Super Cena and have Styles pin Dean again? I prefer the other option. Cena has bragged that only a handful of people have pinned him clean but no one has pinned him clean twice (false) and I love the idea of that man being A.J. Styles. That way Cena can go back to more reality TV shows and Dean isn’t immediately back to the dude who gets pinned all the time.

Molly: AJ Styles. The backing of my sheer inability to believe that Cena will get his record breaking win on a small PPV. And the fact that the writers will never want Ambrose to be champ as bad as I do. Not that I dislike champ Styles… BUT I REALLY LIKE AMBROSE.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

Matt: I’ve already booked it a bunch but I am continuing to book AJ Styles retaining up until Wrestlemania. I’ve predicted that Finn is going to return at the Rumble, win it and call out a match against A.J. Styles at Wrestlemania. Since currently things still seem like this is moderately plausible then I’m sticking to it.

Molly: AJ Styles is going to be (if he’s not already) the face to lead the Smackdown brand, while Kevin Owens leads RAW. I’d never thought I’d see it happen; it sounds more like something I’d fantasy book back in 2010. But Styles is a star and deserves to prove that to the unknowing. No better way to do that than with the strength of the championship on a new, clean-slate brand extension. I’ve had about enough of the Cena vs Orton feud to last me 2 lifetimes, but it could be great for further getting Orton over as an unhinged heel. And fully unhinged heel Orton vs unhinged asshole-face Ambrose is something I didn’t know I needed until I got halfway through that last sentence.

Cena is breaking Ric Flair’s record at Wrestlemania. And I hope it’s not against Styles since by ‘mania I’d like to see Bálor back and some movement in the Bullet Club story they were teasing at Summerslam. Under the right circumstances and with a great story, I don’t think I’d hate a ‘mania title match between Ambrose and Cena. I’ll save my hope for a Shield triple threat for a time when it makes more sense (but if ya’ll wanna put the Shield in Ambrose’s corner for that match then hehehehehe *rubs hands together menacingly*). Meanwhile, if I don’t get Bray and Brock at ‘mania and Bálor’s not back yet, I’d love to see what could happen when Styles and Brock are put in a program together.

Let’s face it, watching your mom awkwardly hook up with not-your-new-dad at the drive-in could turn any mild-mannered kid into a psychopath… Poor misunderstood slasher killers. This week’s bad decision is 1987’s Thanksgiving twin massacre Blood Rage. Adam is so disgusted, he barely shows up, and somehow Matt and Scott trudge through the movie without going on their own killing spree. Nevermind it’s nowhere near turkey day, this is how we roll on Horror Movie Night!

We’re like two months into this brand split and I’m already feeling drained by having a pay-per-view every two weeks, but here we are. This time it’s the Raw solo pay-per-view. I’m not sure how I feel about this one but I have a feeling in September Smackdown is gonna have the better Pay-Per-View.

Since I have nothing to say here’s a disclaimer from Molly:
You know you’re training to be a professional wrestler when you spend your breaks at your minimum wage retail job writing a fantasy booking column on the back of the hand out you got in the ER when you broke your ankle trying to resorte out of a headscissors chinlock! No, I don’t know why paperwork from 9 months ago was still in my purse. Yes, I really did all of that.

foxjax

Match #1: Alicia Fox Vs. Nia Jax (Pre-Show Match)

NIA JAX: She is a large, bad-ass and beautiful murder machine who has crushed every local talent WWE has thrown at her and is now ready to take out some established roster members.

ALICIA FOX: There’s been a real lacking of Fox on WWE TV lately but when she is on TV she’s always flipping a shit and it’s always entertaining

WHO WINS:
Matt: Nia Jax is definitely winning this the only question is how quickly is she winning this? There has never been a more fitting Pre-Show Match. A quick no stakes match is perfect pre-show fodder. Way better than when the tag belts or titular survivor series matches are the pre-show events. Alicia Fox is a good wrestler who’s great at playing crazy but let’s be serious here… you don’t build Nia with a series of Squash matches for Alicia Fox to take her out.

Molly: Nia Jax with Muscle buster off the top rope… What, she’s only 2 inches shorter and 10 lbs lighter than Samoa Joe anyway!

Josh: Nia’s too early into her run to lose to a lower card performer like Alicia, no matter how much I love her. Foxy doesn’t have a chance. By the way, I just learned that a group of foxes is called “a leash.” That facepalm was about a decade in the making…

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Nia is going to continue to dominate. She’s going to crush everyone who comes in her path… until Auska gets called up to the main roster in time for Nia Jax vs. Auska to be a Wrestlemania worthy event. I feel like I saw it in NXT once before (I really can’t remember) but even if I did… that was a different less confident Nia. Main Roster Nia has been dope and I hope she continues to be dope for a long time. Also she should be in the Royal Rumble.

Molly:  I hope this match turns out to be better than the crowd expects; better than your average pre-show match. Because honestly, Alicia Fox has impressed me the few times I’ve seen her wrestle recently. Specifically in a house show match I saw live between her and Natalya back in July. Alicia can go, but she’s still considered a ‘total diva’. She’s a great stepping stone for Nia to prove that she’s still a human wrecking ball when her opponent is getting in offense. I wanna see more TV time for Alicia where she’s wrestling and not dress shopping with Paige. Maybe getting involved in the title hunt so the crowd doesn’t get tired of the same 3 horsewomen all the time. But really, if you’re sick of the horsewomen, who the fuck are you. And I hope this starts Nia working her way up with matches longer than a minute. I wasn’t convinced when she was drafted from NXT because I really don’t think Nia has hit her stride and found her comfort zone yet. The longer matches with more experienced opponents unafraid of her throwing them across the ring will only benefit her. If you want her to squash opponents, let her start squashing some lower tier dudes. I might even try to get some hotter heel heat on her by booking her in mixed tag matches with her cousin, Roman Reigns (I’m positive every Samoan is related at this point). Once in a while my quest to book Nia Jax as this generation’s Chyna takes precedence over my need for a sorta-Shield reunion.

Josh: Fox will fade back into obscurity while Nia continues her climb to eventually become a championship contender. If she’s healthy, I can see Paige being her next feud. If not, Fox will probably continue the feud for an extra month.

tjkendrick

Match #2: T.J. Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick (For the Cruiserweight Title)

WHO WINS:
Matt: I really wish it was going to be Kendrick because he was so fucking amazing in the CWC but it will be T.J. Perkins. The man hasn’t even appeared on the main roster yet. There’s no way he’s losing his debut match.

Molly: TJ Perkins. If there is any logical way for Perkins to flip out of Kendrick attempting another burning hammer and turning it into the knee bar then I need to see it happen.

Josh: TJ is winning, and there’s no doubt in my mind about it. Kendrick was picked as the contender because he’s a reliable guy that the fans recognize, and who better to put over the new champion as a threat while being able to take his move set?

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Perkins will continue to be champ for a while until Cedric Alexander wins it and becomes the dude everyone talks about for the rest of his life. Meanwhile Kendrick is going to have an awesome run as the aged angry heel that will cheat to stay on top. I am DREAMING of when I get to see him and Jack Gallaher have a match because if CWC taught me anything… those dudes can tell amazing stories with no words and I want to see that story telling mix as soon as humanly possible.

Molly: Last year, if you had told me that TJ Perkins (who I first encountered as Suicide in TNA) and The Brian Kendrick were having a WWE pay per view match for a cruiserweight title in the year of our lord 2016, I would’ve asked how you got in my house before back-handing you into the fucking sun. I am ecstatic that this is happening, and I wanna see both these dudes built into the heavyweights of the cruiserweights.

Perkins just won the Cruiserweight Classic. It would be a pretty huge dick move to undo what he’s worked towards all summer (on top of an 18 year indy career that involved a lot of getting shit on) to put the belt on Kendrick after one match. Though it is most definitely a move I could see WWE pulling. Kendrick’s redemption story is fantastic, especially while he’s still playing the heel fans initially loved him as, and it needs to go as long as possible. Now that the CWC is over, wrestlers previously uncategorizable as good/bad have to start taking a side. I hope this gives us a Kendrick that we want to root for even though he can’t give up his old ways and is still an asshole in-ring. And a Perkins that is such a flashy, glittery, show off of a heel that he literally blinds us when he dabs and we still clap for him while bleeding out the eyes.

Josh: Since the division is still kind of a husk at the moment, it’s hard to make any concrete observations. TJ will definitely carry the title for a good amount of time, but with no characters associated with these acts at the moment, we’re veering towards the division becoming a series of meaningless matches. If I were to pick however, I would make Swan or Cedric the next contender, just to continue to highlight the better workers.

bestof7

Match #3: Cesaro vs. Sheamus (Final Part of the Best Out of 7 Series for a Title Shot)

CESARO: The man speaks multiple languages, tailors his own tear away suits and is so bad ass that it’s not unreasonable to consider him the reason that girl you like won’t date you.

SHEAMUS: He played a CGI Rhino in a movie out on DVD this week.

WHO WINS:
Matt: Cesaro has to win this right? Like… we can’t give it to Sheamus… if we give it to Sheamus than what the fuck was this all about to begin with? I’m heavily leaning towards Cesaro but if Sheamus wins… I won’t be shocked. Cesaro. Final Answer Regis.

Molly: Sheamus via some shit that proves Sheamus is a strong main event presence despite Cesaro being the crowd favorite

Josh: It all depends what the vague promise of a “championship opportunity” means. If it’s for the Universal Title, Cesaro will pull off the four match streak and become Kevin’s new contender. If it’s for the U.S. Title… I still say Cesaro, because seeing him fight Rusev would be much better than Sheamus vs. Reigns for the tenth time in a year. Queue the sirens, Cesaro is taking this!

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: I’m as confused as to the future of these two as I am who is gonna win. Sheamus just continues to be irrelevant in wrestling world and Cesaro is so under utilized… but if I’m going to fantasy book this one I think Cesaro is next to try to take down Owens. I don’t think he succeeds but he puts in a good series of matches. He then chases mid-card gold and (if Reigns doesn’t do it already) becomes the man to beat Rusev for the U.S. Title.

Molly: Because I need Cesaro to be furious and go on a tear after this series, regardless of who deserves what. “You make me waste my time and talents in a feud going nowhere that no one cares about, and because I lose, that undoes everything I’ve accomplished? Hell no,” Cesaro screams at Jojo. I need Cesaro so enraged that when Survivor Series hits, he doesn’t get tagged in until the very end out of spite from his teammates, and when he finally does, he annihilates the other team, eliminating the majority of them and scaring the shit out of everyone else. There’s a lot of talk amongst wrestling fans over who is most ‘deserving’ of pushes. Fans like Cesaro cause he’s a great worker, not cause he’s heel or face. It’s a mindset that, while very respectful to the talent, makes it difficult to suspend disbelief when watching a wrestling show anymore. The best way to further blur the lines and do kayfabe in 2016 is to have Cesaro disregard all of the compliments from fans and criticisms from those in charge and have him just wreck house. Running in on matches, getting disqualified for excessive violence and the like, while Sheamus is like “that fella’s a bleeding nutcase and almost murdered me, it was not worth winning the series.”

Josh: Like Sami, Cesaro’s character arc is currently around his frustration over being stagnant. In Cesaro’s case however, it’s been much more at the forefront. He gets screwed against the Universal Championship, loses that shot, and turns heel out of frustration. Either that, or he gets traded to Smackdown somehow, but seeing as the only apparent way to switch shows is to lose to Jinder Mahal, I’m not expecting that anytime soon.

wwe-clash-of-champions-2016-rusev-vs-roman-reigns-1021x580

Match #4: Rusev vs. Roman Reigns (for U.S. Title)

RUSEV: Remember Rocky 4? He’s basically Drago from Rocky 4.

ROMAN REIGNS: Remember The Rock? He’s related to him. WWE thinks that means we’ll love him. They’re wrong.

WHO WINS:
Matt: This is another one I’m torn on. Reigns as U.S. Champion I could live with but I think Rusev is just killing it right now and the time isn’t right. Rusev should remain champion tonight but I’m very accepting to being wrong. Plus if Reigns has the U.S. Title at least he’s no longer a guest on the Kevin Owens show for a while.

Molly: Roman Reigns. How? Fuck if I care!

Josh: As much as I hate to say it since Rusev is my favorite guy on the roster, Roman has to win here. He’s still the company’s golden boy, and after eating a series of big losses, it’ll be time for the Big Dog to build his momentum back up. Plus, it would give him a reason to stay out of the main title picture until they’re ready to resume the Roman Reigns experiment.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Rusev is going to continue to crush until Cesaro wrecks him and the entire globe rejoices. Meanwhile Reigns will basically get booed out of every building until he’s turned heel and suddenly everyone loves him because wrestling fans don’t care how good of a wrestler you are… they just care about their opinion being heard.

Molly: I want to care. I really do. But following the misogyny of ‘fighting for Lana’s honor’ and whatever mess that finish was at Summerslam, it’s really hard to care. Rusev’s reign isn’t going anywhere in this feud with Roman because of the tug-of-war going on between fans and writers over Roman’s likability. Best thing is to get Rusev out of it entirely and shake off the terrible storylines he keeps getting put in. He’s a great monster heel; let him be the stone wall Cesaro hits in his rampage. As for Roman, you know what fans liked him doing? Being the silent big dude in the Shield. You know who could use some help now that the Authority hates him? Fellow former Shield member, Seth Rollins. I wanna see them team up again. Seth tries to get Roman to trust him again while Roman’s always positive Seth is just after a title to prove he has worth even if he can’t beat Owens. Plus there are no 2 people on the RAW roster who both hate the Authority more at this point, and Seth could use a heater in his corner.

Josh: A rematch followed by a directionless Rusev. Fortunately, the Rumble will be a few short months away, which is when many of the upper midcard guys get a soft reset as the big matches shape up. Roman will feud with a top level guy like Jericho before finally losing the belt in a way that makes him look strong, before stepping back onto the top of the card.

zaynjericho

Match #5 Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho (For the enjoyment of seeing two masters go at it)

SAMI ZAYN: If Ska music could be personified it’d be Sami Zayn. With no evidence what-so-ever I’m confident he donated to Five Iron Frenzy’s Kickstarter 5 years ago.

CHRIS JERICHO: Depending on your age he was either your favorite wrestler as a kid… or your dad’s favorite wrestler when he was a kid.

WHO WINS:
Matt: I actually didn’t realize how unsure I am about these matches until working on this write-up. That actually makes me a little excited about this pay-per-view. The fan in me wants to say Sami Zayn wins this … but the fan in me also knows Zayn is best when he ALMOST wins but loses to Jericho.

Molly: Christ Jericho (these are not typos, I know what I wrote, Jericho is God) Does anyone tap to the Walls of Jericho anymore? Have Sami tap and hate himself for it. Have him tap to the lion tamer so I can go from really stoked cause I love that hold to really sad cause Sami lost.

Josh: The running theme seems to be that Sami is directionless. Knowing this, I’m guessing Jericho pulls off the win, further frustrating Sami as his former best friend carries on as champion while he can’t beat the new best friend.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: We’re taking our precious time getting there but I think this is the point that breaks Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn won the “final match” against Owens. I feel like Jericho is going to be too excited about beating Zayn which will cause Owens to eventually turn on Jericho. Let’s be honest here Fozzy has a new album and tour in 2017… they gotta write him off somehow… how about a Pop-Up Powerbomb. Then Sami needs to chase down Owens again and be the one to beat him for the Universal Title, possibly at Royal Rumble but ideally Wrestlemania main event.

Molly: Sami Zayn is “The Man of 1000 Incredible Losses” and he’s in a stride I love right now. Gets a few wins to prove he really is good, but mostly loses when the pressure’s on because screwing up when under stress is a relatable, human thing to do. Unlike Cesaro, who I may or may not want to neutralize me straight into the abyss and out of this wrestling-induced stress-coma I’m writing myself into, I want Sami to be the Bayley of the men’s division. Really talk up his unbreakable will and have him on TV every week so my great aunt can keep texting me “that Sami Zayn’s a very nice boy with a sick tornado DDT”. I want Neville built in a feud with Owens so after Sami loses valiantly in a feud with Rollins, Neville and Sami can rehash a bit of their BRILLIANT NXT feud. Where they’re friends who don’t want to hate each other, but keep getting in one another’s way and making it mad difficult to play nice. As for Jericho, there is nothing I would change about this incredible high he’s on. Keep building the fresh faces while giving us the gift of Jericho. I’m thirsty anyway.

Josh: The WWE loves to break popular guys down, only to (possibly), build them back up down the road. Keeping both him and Owens on the same show certainly means they’ll eventually redeem him by having him go over Kevin again. Whether or not its for the title is yet to be seen, but you can’t keep these guys apart for long.

triplewomen

Match #6 Charlotte Vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley (Triple Threat for Raw Women’s Title)

CHARLOTTE: Ric Flair’s Daughter, but she doesn’t like being associated with him, unless she’s reminding you that she’s made of his 16-time Champion Sperm. Spends her free time mocking her “friend” Dana Brooke who is a body builder who has no self respect.

SASHA BANKS: Possibly the best wrestler in WWE today (that’s including men), she’s dope AF. I don’t even have any jokes, she’s amazing, that’s all you need to know.

BAYLEY: Bayley is the wrestling fan in all-of-us. If you had to draw a person to represent the phrase “I’m just happy to be here” it’d be Bayley surrounded by anime characters hugging balloon men and… I think I have a dope idea for a T-shirt.

WHO WINS:
Matt: I’ll probably be wrong on this one but I think Sasha gets her belt back. Bayley can’t win this quickly. Bayley is female Zayn, she has to lose over and over again. Just get close … but not close enough. When she does win it needs to be a HUGE deal. Meanwhile Charlotte is a great heel but Sasha can be a better one. She needs to turn this weekend and I want her to turn … because of Dana Brooke backstab.

Molly: Charlotte by literally pressing the rewind button and causing the audience to collectively ask “didn’t we watch this on NXT but with more, oh what’s the word… enthusiasm?”

Josh:  If Bayley vs Sasha is the endgame, it’s too early to draw that out all the way until April, so the best way to pull it off is to have Sasha win this match, have her pass the title back to Charlotte in October, and play out the scenario I’m predicting below.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Charlotte is going to feud with Dana Brooke and beat her time and time again. Finally at Survivor Series Emma returns to save her friend. Sasha is going to continue to be a mean-spirited as human possible until Bayley beats her at Wrestlemania and wacky wavy inflatable arm men explode out of every corner of the building.
(I realize almost all my predicts are ending at Wrestlemania but we’re basically entering Wrestlemania season where everything is just building to the Wrestlemania matches)

Molly: While yes, it would be a great comeback story for Sasha to win the title right back after back injury issues forced her loss, I think this loss could build more sympathy for Sasha so when she finally does win the title back and becomes the cocky, full-of-herself Boss champ she does best, it’ll hurt so good. I could see having Bayley win by taking the pent up fire she had facing Asuka in her NXT Women’s title rematch and redirecting it to take back her place on top. But Bayley is one character that I would love to see digress a bit; back to hug-happy super fan who needs to prove herself as legitimate once more. Out of respect for the belt and Charlotte’s character, I’d like to see her continue onwards into a feud with Dana Brooke and hopefully Charlotte will drop it to Nia Jax when Nia gets her shot in the not-too-far-off future. Meanwhile, Sasha keeps pretending to be Bayley’s friend in the match until it’s obvious Bayley’s gonna be a problem for Sasha and Sasha just goes the fuck off on her. Then pretend to be her friend some more but keep pulling shady shit until Bayley’s done playing games and Sasha’s done sitting around without a title while a fly named Bayley buzzes in her ear.

Josh: The money feud *has* to be Bayley vs. a heel Sasha at Wretlemania, right? That’s why it’s hard to believe that these two are already in the same match fighting for the title when Bayley has been around for a month. My booking would have had Sasha vs. Charlotte in a singles match, and have Sasha lose. Then have Bayley challenge and win near the Royal Rumble, only for Sasha to get jealous over her “friend” winning instead of her. Charlotte can feud with Dana or something. Maybe even a returning Emma to defend her friend?

wwe_clash_of_champions_2016___custom_card__by_erick11editions-dafbgex

Match #7 New Day vs. The Club (For the Raw Tag Team Belts)

THE NEW DAY: If Geekscape needed a wrestling mascot we’d pick The New Day (no offense Paul). They love comics, video games and Anime and talk in pop culture references. It’s like their promos are written by Dan Harmon.

THE CLUB: They were dope in Japan. They came to WWE to lose a bunch and hang out with A.J. Styles. In a perfect world they will be dope in WWE soon enough.

WHO WINS:
Matt: I love the New Day. I love them. But their time as Tag Team Champions needs to stop. The Club needs this win. The club needed this win last month if we’re being honest. If I’m wrong about the Women’s title there needs to be at least one title change and that change needs to be the Tag Belts.

Molly: The Club Please just let them murder the New Day, like, just ‘magic killer’ them on top of one another. I love the New Day and don’t want it to be a total squash cause that wouldn’t make sense, but please let the Club get their shit together and take this one.

Josh: I almost feel like it’s now or never for The Club, especially since all the hype surrounding their debut has all but disappeared. Yet, that’s never stopped the WWE from completely killing guys in the name of their own agenda, which seems to be having The New Day break Demolition’s record. Knowing this, New Day is winning.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: The New  Day can continue to do theeir comedy schtick and  being the most over thing in the  WWE Universe. The Club will be absolute dominating heels and rocking the Tag Team Division until they are beaten by Enzo and Cass at the Rumble (see not all Wrestlemania Predictions)

Molly: The New Day has really done all they can do as a tag team. They’re the most successful team in this era of WWE and I AM LITERALLY. ON MY KNEES. BEGGING YOU. TO DO WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE. WHEN YOU YANKED BULLET CLUB OUT OF JAPAN. And actually book them to be the no-fucks-to-give, win-by-any-means-possible assholes they are best. On top of doing their comedy bits that made every promo they cut in 2014 absolute gold (it’s not the language barrier that made them funny; it’s how absolutely randomly ridiculous it was for a threatening team with solid matches and a winning streak to be doing Irish whip reversals mid-promo and bringing toilet seats as weapons because they were “going to shit on your life”). It also frees up the New Day to have the feud we’ve been waiting for with Enzo & Cass but with the stakes far less high. Or the feud I’m gonna wait forever and then some for, because literally only I would want cruiserweights to be capable of forming teams to enter the tag team division, and that’s New Day vs Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar. Watch the CWC finale and try to convince me Noam and Cedric shouldn’t be a team for the rest of my waking days; I dare you.

Josh: Man, these teams NEED to get away from each other. This feud has dragged both groups down to the point where its hard to care about either. The problems is that the brand is thin when it comes to tag teams, which means the only way I can see it going is for The Club to feud with Enzo and Cass while New Day has a filler feud with… The Shining Stars? Man…

Match #8 Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins (For the Universal Title)

KEVIN OWENS: People love to remind you that Kevin Owens doesn’t have the body of a wrestler. Wrestling fans love to remind you we don’t give a shit because he’s amazing.

SETH ROLLINS: The man who broke up the shield and then got backstaged by his foster father. He’s currently on a road to redemption.

WHO WINS:
Matt: Kevin Owens retains as god intended. Seth almost wins this but Triple H interferes once again.

Molly: Kevin Owens via AUTHORITY SHENANIGAAAAAAAANS

Josh: Seth’s face turn is going to be one of the major focuses of the brand going forward, which means you can’t have him get his revenge this early. Owens wins, possibly with more help from Triple H, and continuing to plant the seeds for the big showdown between master and apprentice.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Matt: Seth’s face turn is fully complete and he begins to feud with Triple H building to a match at Survivor Series. As I already explained earlier, Owens will remain champion until Sami Zayn takes the belt off him at Wrestlemania.

Molly: It’s the Kevin Owens Show and it’s going to stay that way so long as I have an imagination and a laptop… And, someone to format my shit and get it on Geekscape so I never have to return to AO3 again (hello darkness, my old friend). I love that all of Kevin’s ass-kissing has paid off and Stephanie McMahon’s slow distancing herself from Seth has culminated in this feud. I hope this feud keeps going as Seth makes Roman his bodyguard (explained at length earlier in my Rusev vs Roman write-up) and they slowly turn face (well, Seth face and Roman just likable) despite most of the roster not liking them very much. Kinda like how they very much not liked the Shield at first! Kevin, meanwhile, just keeps being Kevin. I personally never get sick of his feud with Sami and if it’s over a belt, even better. But I wanna save that for further down the line, say, the Royal Rumble, when surprise return entrant Finn Bálor wants the title back from Kevin but has to go through his BFF Sami to do it. Anyone else love how much they’ve built Finn and Sami’s friendship following the draft even though they have only interacted at house shows and on social media, never on television. Kind of adorable. They’d make a cute coup- I SAID I’M NOT GOING BACK TO AO3, DAMMIT. So until the Rumble built to break my heart happens, I want to see the space filled in between then and now with matches to build the likes of Neville into a title contender. Shit, maybe have Owens face a new signee cruiserweight that got lucky (JACKFUCKINGGALLAGHER).

Josh: Rollins will keep pushing Steph’s buttons while Mick is caught in the middle. After continuously getting screwed, he’ll keep moving towards that match with Triple H, which is pretty much the same story the main event has told for years now. Kevin will keep looking like the undeserving champion, (no matter how much the crowd says otherwise), until a monster babyface like Roman or even Sami dethrones him. My bets are on the former.

We heard you like head explosions – here’s a movie with one in the first scene! The guys burn their way through 1995’s splatter quasi-commentary Evil Ed, while ruminating about their own dark futures if they continue down their current path. Oh, and Bill Moseley’s voice. Grab an umbrella, because loose limbs are falling like manna from heaven this week on Horror Movie Night!

It’s a random, humid evening in September, perfect for watching a Christmas horror film about a killer snowman and the dumbasses he terrorizes on a tropical resort island. We’re apparently barbecuing, because Adam is back on the sauce and picking 2000’s direct-to-the-$2-Walmart-bin crapshoot Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman! Kick back with a piña colada, soak up the sun, and get pummeled with wave after wave of crushing regret for letting your cohost subject you to this pointless, awful dreck. Just don’t engage in any mouth play with your ice cubes or your head might explode on this week’s episode of Horror Movie Night!

Not sure how it’s possible (well mostly because of brand split) but just two-three weeks out from SummerSlam and we’re already doing another Fantasy booking. This week we’re focusing on the Smackdown centric BACKLASH. Things are already off to a bad start when the best tag team in WWE (American Alpha) and the most recognizable face (John Cena) both aren’t available, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a good time guessing what’s going to happen. Let’s start!

(Molly Note: I hope these brand specific pay per views are going to have a more Takeover/televised house show (Beast in the East, Roadblock, etc.) feel. Mostly cause circa late 2014 to late 2015 Takeover specials were the best and hell yeah I’m biased. But truly, if anyone could benefit from longer matches, more character development, and fewer feuds that were taken out of the trash and pieced back together like my senior thesis, it’s the cast of Smackdown.)

MATCH #1 – THE USOS VS. THE HYPE BROS
(Winner of this match will challenge Heath Slater and Rhyno to be the first Smackdown Tag Champion)

THE USOS: Part of the growing list of Rock Relatives. They wear face-paint, give a battle chant, when they say Us we’re supposed to say Oh and until last week they were good guys… now they’re a bunch of bullies.

THE HYPE BROS: The Hypos is basically what happens when a can of Red Bull and a can of Jolt become sentient and decide to pursue wrestling careers.

WHO’S GONNA WIN:
MATT: The Usos have to win this one. They’re clearly building a massive feud for American Alpha vs. The Usos. It’s insane that the first solo Smackdown pay-per-view won’t have American Alpha on it (you know the team that was so good they created new tag belts just to get them on the team) but at least this has potential for more story.

MOLLY: Usos. How? CHEATING BECAUSE HEELS NOW

THE FUTURE:
MATT: The Hypo Bros will continue to be hype and win random matches against The Vaudevillians and other less important teams. Eventually they will break up and no one will notice or care. As for the Usos see the next match below…

MOLLY: The Hype Bros are hilarious once you get past the douchebaggery, so I’m hoping they can become a top comedy team on Smackdown. Mostly so Breezango can run it’s course, break up and Tyler can take his rightful place as Prince (Pretty) of Smackdown… But that’s another write up for another time. The Usos are the more established team going into this, and they’re on a more defined path than the Bros right now, so I wanna see them winning because…

MATCH #2 – (WINNER OF PREVIOUS MATCH) Vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno

HEATH SLATER: Was skipped during the Raw/Smackdown draft but damn it… he’s got like 10 kids to take care of so he’s working his ass off to get a contract.

RHYNO: He looks like a neck with legs and communicates mostly through spears and deep exhales. He’s also the winner of a recent Republican Primary. So that’s a thing.

WHO’S GONNA WIN:
MATT: The Usos win two in one night. If American Alpha isn’t going to be our first Smackdown tag champions it better not be for fucking Heath Slater and Rhyno.

MOLLY: Heath Slater and Rhyno, COME OOOOOOOON, IT’LL BE HILARIOUS. Plus if Rhyno’s run in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic taught me anything, it’s that two dudes that’ve never teamed together in their lives are better than teams with history and chemistry! The Usos are probs gonna go full heel and throttle them following the match anyway.

JOSH: After what happened on the go-home episode of Smackdown, there’s no chance The Uso’s don’t win both matches. The Hype Bros. don’t have a whole lot of credibility, so they can eat a clean loss. But after much teasing and some close near falls, the fan favorites in Rhyno and Heath will come up short.

DEREK: Hype Bros. vs. Rhyno and Slater for the final… with Hype Bros. definitely taking it home.

THE FUTURE:
MATT: The Usos will carry the belts until an important pay-per-view. WWE still sees them as one of their BIG gold mines. They will expect people don’t watch smackdown and won’t know that they’ve turned heel until they’re on a Pay-Per-View that matters. I could see them holding the titles into Survivor Series and winning against some low-tier tag team (maybe a now face Vaudevillians?) and lose it to American Alpha in the Royal Rumble.

Heath Slater and Rhyno will have a match at No Mercy to determine who gets the next Smackdown contract. Heath’s going to be a Free Agent for as long as Damien Sandow was a stunt double.

MOLLY: Heath and Rhyno are gonna go on a fun little run that won’t last too long cause Heath’s gotta get home to his kids and Rhyno’s gotta beat Trump for the presidency or something. Then a slightly more serious (but not that much more serious) heel team like the Vaudevillians or the Ascension will get the attention they deserve, take the titles off of them and hold on for a good long while. I hope the eventual American Alpha vs the Usos feud will be great. I don’t recall ever seeing the Usos play heel, but I have always wanted them to turn and play lackies to the mythical creature that is heel Roman Reigns in a Samoan Dynasty stable, so if they play anything along those lines, I’m in.

P.S. Sorry it’s not much, folks. But I thought it was gonna be American Alpha vs Heath and Rhyno. I didn’t learn until after writing up a fantasy booking for that that Gable is injured and this is the worst thing that has ever happened to me so I am now too depressed and can’t see through my tears to fantasy book this to it’s full extent #dicksoutforchadgable”

JOSH: Each team will go in a few different directions after this match. Heath will continue his storyline where he tries and fails to earn a contract, (without Rhyno now that the tag titles are gone,) while The Usos keep the titles warm for when American Alpha comes back.
DEREK: Breezango takes it at the next PPV. I can dream, can’t I? Or, you know, American Alpha can take them too.

MATCH #3 – THE MIZ VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER FOR THE I.C. TITLE

THE MIZ: He’s awesome. He’s the best bad guy in WWE without competition. Everything about him is easy to hate but more importantly is fun to hate.

DOLPH ZIGGLER: Dolph Ziggler once mocked the Miz for being an actor. Dolph Ziggler is in a movie called Countdown, it’s terrible. He also will play Shawn Michaels and young Kurt Russell in both of their future biopics one day (at least he will in my fantasies)

WHO’S GONNA WIN:
MATT: Two weeks ago I’d have said Ziggler. If he’s going to lose to Dean he can at least beat Miz for a nice IC title run… but that was before Miz cut the promo of his life on Talking Smack. The Miz is one of the biggest reasons to watch Smackdown at this point. Him as a the cocky champ who doesn’t deserve to be champ is his perfect wheelhouse and he shouldn’t leave it any time soon. If nothing else this should continue the slow descent into Ziggler getting more heelish.

MOLLY: Dolph throws everything at the Miz that he threw at Ambrose. Miz, overwhelmed and unprepared, loses clean in a hard fought match where the crowd was super on Dolph’s side. Then have Dolph berate and turn on the crowd, the belt being the ultimate statement of “I did this without the fans’ help cause they suck but they love me anyway”

JOSH: This feud exists solely to transfer the heat from that infamous Daniel Bryan and The Miz Talking Smack segment, but they have a chance to tie this into Dolph’s character arch from last month. Because of this, (and the lack of any real build,) Miz retains while Ziggler continues to come up short.

DEREK: Though I’d love to see Ziggler get any sort of title time at this point in his career, The Miz and his never ending title run has just been too entertaining to have it come to an end now. After seeing that incredible Miz / Daniel Bryan promo (or was it) a few weeks back, it’s clear that he’s going to remain in the spotlight for some time.

THE FUTURE:

MATT: Ziggler will get more and more frustrated at his continuous loses and eventually goes heel. He’ll lose most matches he has against Apollo Crews and Curt Hawkings but will be victorious over Kalisto or Heath Slater.

The Miz will continue to be champion until they have someone else on Smackdown ready to be the 2nd face of the show (maybe Apollo Crews if they can find story for him) or until Smackdown signs another NXT talent. Can you imagine WWE signing Nakamura and how amazing those matches against The Miz could be?! The A-Lister who doesn’t like to get hit in the face vs the man who’s man offense is kicking you in the fucking face!? It’d be Miz’s finest moment since MizDow!

MOLLY: Ziggler’s been in a weird place, between forgetting his own backstory (why are you berating Baron Corbin for ‘not knowing his place’ when you knocked boots with Vicki Guerrero for years to get opportunities???? I don’t understand, bitch, I don’t understand) and the writers not being totally sure if he’s an asshole or not. Well since it’s MY fantasy booking and I LOVE assholes (the figurative kind, not- not literal… you get it), I dub Dolph the new Intercontinental champ and the title of El Hijo de Shawn Michaels. Clearly Dolph and I both are never going to be totally over Shawn Michaels retiring. Why not actually make use of the good parallels between Michaels and Ziggler? I so look forward to that rudo vs rudo rematch between Miz and Ziggler *rubs hands together while giggling evily*

What I learned from this fantasy booking write up: ‘evily’ isn’t a word… *giggling with evil intent*

JOSH: The Miz will ride this a bit longer, defending his “soft” style against the more athletic members of the Smackdown roster. Meanwhile, Dolph will finally snap and FINALLY turn heel. I mean, doesn’t he have to at this point? Otherwise, everything Dean said about him last month is true, which leaves him dead in the water. Then again, WWE has had a habit of having zero direction in the past, so direction-less Dolph isn’t out of the question either.

DEREK: It’s called The Miz’ Never Ending Intercontinental Championship World Tour. It’s going to continue forever.

MATCH #4 – THE WOMEN’S SIX PACK CHALLENGE FOR THE SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S TITLE

For this I originally wrote that I had no write-up because I didn’t have the time to write up 6 write-ups if the WWE was going to keep shoving all the women in one match. Molly pointed out this is just furthering the issues and provided the following 6 write ups.

NIKKI BELLA: Longest reigning Diva’s Champion of all time, definitely not cause she’s dating John Cena or cause WWE is trying to erase AJ Lee or anything.

BECKY LYNCH: Really likes steampunk and being Irish and making puns. Really doesn’t like being the only one of the 4 Horsewomen that hasn’t won a championship yet.

NAOMI: The girl from Just Dance

NATALYA: Should be the Ric Flair of the current women’s division, since 33 is elderly in female wrestler years, but booking still feels the need to wheel out her uncle, Bret “the Hitman” Hart, to get people to watch her matches (leavethemanaloneandlethisneicewrestlehastheHartfamilynotsufferedenough)

CARMELLA:  Enzo and Cass’ former hairdresser-turned-valet cause they got her fired for dumping hair removal cream on a poodle. Now she’s gone full angry Jersey Shore girl cause she’s not over with non-NXT fans (and you can’t teach that!)

ALEXA BLISS: She was NXT’s Princess Kimber Lee, then NXT’s Sunny for the tag team Blake & Murphy, now she’s Miss Piggy if a muppet could also be a gymnast

WHO’S GONNA WIN:
MATT: Because I’m hopelessly in love with her, obviously I want Becky Lynch to win this… but the writer in me says no way it’s not going on a heel and while Alexa Bliss is more talented than anyone will give her credit for… Smackdown’s women’s division is about Becky Lynch and the best person for her story right now is Natalya.

MOLLY: Becky Lynch. Between Takeover: Unstoppable and Wrestlemania 32, Becky is gonna use the collective suffering of her fans to finally pull out the big one we’ve been waiting for… and by big one I mean a REALLY BIG TOP HAT- no seriously, give the woman a title already.

JOSH: Man, this women’s division is kind of pathetic, isn’t it? Because of how thin the roster is, I can’t see anyone winning this credibility wise than Nikki Bella. Becky would be my choice, but she’s direction-less, alongside Natalya, Alexa and Naomi. That leaves Carmella as the only other choice, who is far too new to be the top woman of the show. Then again, being the top woman in a six person division might not be so bad… You know what? I changed my mind! I’m going with Carmella as the winner. You can’t call it a new era or a woman’s revolution while making the face of the vapid Diva’s Division of old the inaugural champion.

DEREK: While I’ve been eager to see Natalya with a belt for some time now (yes, she has mic issues but I love her as an in-ring performer), Becky better win. She’s been so close too many times, and the Lass Kicker deserves it more than anyone else on the Smackdown roster. That said, I could also see Nikki going for one more title reign before she says goodbye to the squared circle for good.

THE FUTURE:
MATT: Carmella and Nikki Bella will have a match in the No Mercy pre-show next month. If there’s a god in the sky we will get Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss on that Pay-Per-View to determine #1 contender for Natalya at Survivor Series (which should be Becky’s time to shine). The rest of the women will have mini but ultimately unimportant spats over the next two months. Whoever is NOT going for the Smackdown or Raw Women’s titles will find themselves in a “Raw Women vs. Smackdown Women” survivor series match in November.

MOLLY: This is where the constant face-to-heel-and-back turns of the women’s division really grind my gears. I would LOVE to see newly crowned champion Becky forced to prove herself and fail against super powerful heel Nikki Bella. If you thought WWE was booking Eva Marie like the Terminator, then Nikki is the T-1000 of the Women’s division. But I guess I can settle for a feud with Bliss to follow a Becky win. Mostly because Bliss made a great first opponent when Bayley became NXT Women’s Champ, and cause if Becky wasn’t the #1 most deserving NXT Women’s Champ that never came to be, Alexa was definitely next in line.

Plus Bliss and ‘Mella could really use a lot of spotlight time to showcase their characters. No one cares that Carmella is apparently heel now cause they never got to see her play clueless heel in her ICONIC series of matches with Blue Pants. Alexa can say more in a snarl and an eyeroll than Seth Rollins can say in a RAW opener, and I ain’t too proud to beg a couple camera guys to start focusing in on that.

JOSH: Nikki and Carmella will continue their feud, where Nikki will inevitably win. Depending on whether or not she decides she wants to be a face or heel that week, she’ll run through the roster until Becky finally gets her moment and takes the belt off of her. Expect some NXT call-ups, or even some new girls signed straight to Smackdown. They can’t maintain a division this thin.

DEREK: If Becky wins, Nikki is coming for that championship, I can definitely sense a rivalry brewing here.

20160830_backlash_ortonbray-89e479c37c67f88e7ddd480e729aac62

MATCH #5 – RANDY ORTON VS. BRAY WYATT

RANDY ORTON: He’s Mark David Chamption to Cerebral’s everywhere

BRAY WYATT: He’s if Charles Manson starred in Deliverance. He’s a prophet of doom and claims to be a God. He can be dope when used correctly … but that hasn’t been the case for a while unfortunately.

WHO’S GONNA WIN:
MATT: Bray Wyatt needs a win in the same way that I need a girlfriend, because it’s been forever since the last one and we both deserve it at this point… even if just out of pity. I know people are saying after Orton’s match with Lesnar he deserves a win but that is dumb thinking. The New Era shouldn’t be based on 40+ year old guys winning matches against fresh new talent, that’s just plain dumb. Bray has the potential to be the best evil force in years… but he can’t achieve that by losing time and time again.

MOLLY: Wyatt via Familial shenanigans? Erik Rowan makes a run in to try to help Bray. Just to fuck up in ways only Rowan is capable and nearly costing Bray the match. But out of sheer violent rage spite, Bray lays waste to Rowan and his win over Orton is just the collateral damage. Erik Rowan makes a run in to try to help Bray. Just to fuck up in ways only Rowan is capable and nearly costing Bray the match.

JOSH: This match feels like a no-win situation, because both guys need to come out of this match on top. Between the two however, Orton needs it more, especially with his rematch with Brock coming up soon. So unfortunately for Bray, Orton is going to take this one.

DEREK:  I’ve not really had the time to grow to love either of these superstars, but after Orton’s bloody (losing) return at Summerslam, they have to give him this one. Sure, Wyatt has been out and injured as well, but Orton for way, way longer, and it won’t take long for the Wyatt family’s squash-fests to continue.

THE FUTURE:
MATT: Randy Orton continues to be a face and gets himself involved in a match against Baron Corbin by November or December. Like think about that for a second? The biggest question is what will make us scream “holy shit” louder … An End of Days attempt turning into an RKO or an RKO attempt turning into the End of Days?

Bray Wyatt will just be an unbeatable beast stomping his way throughout the Smackdown card. After taking out the viper, he should either feud with Dean Ambrose (although a little been there done that) or Apollo Crews to take away his smile a bit.

MOLLY: I’m mostly stoked that I may be getting my booking from Summerslam, and my predictions are NEVER right! (Ask Matt to reenact my NXT Takeover: London freak out when I loudly thought “But what if someone does a Jack the Ripper entrance?” And then Finn Bálor ACTUALLY DID IT). So I still want Orton to be manipulated by Bray into turning into the roughest, most calloused of heels. But following this match, Bray is going to make an example out of Rowan and show Orton how much fun it is to utterly decimate someone. Hopefully this also works to turn Rowan face and break him away from the Wyatt Family for a singles run that doesn’t feel like it’ll inevitably end in a reunion at Survivor Series or the Royal Rumble (but who the fuck am I kidding, of course it will).

JOSH: It’s hard to see either of these guys doing much else until the next big Pay Per View, so I don’t see how their feud doesn’t continue after this. Orton wins this match, loses against Brock, and Bray gets into his head after the second loss, which will lead to Bray winning the feud. This will separate them for the inevitable Orton vs AJ feud.

DEREK: Bray Wyatt is quickly going to move in for that Smackdown championship.

7-backlash

MATCH #6 – DEAN AMBROSE VS. A.J. STYLES FOR WWE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BELT

DEAN AMBROSE: He’s like Uncle Jesse on Full House mixed with Killing Joke era Joker

AJ STYLES: He beat John Cena. Clean. If you don’t know wrestling at all… even you know that’s a super big deal.

WHO’S GONNA WIN:
MATT: AJ Styles needs a belt as soon as possible. I love Dean… but fuck that guy, it’s AJ O’Clock. There’s no one in WWE with a better understanding of how to be a respected wrestler and hatable heel at the same time like A.J. Styles has proven to be the master of over the last few weeks.

MOLLY: Dean Ambrose via the dirtiest of unclean finishes, and I’m not talking “dirty deeds”! … There’s a joke in here somewhere but leave me alone, I’m still sore and tired from Chikara King of Trios last weekend (now available for viewing on Chikaratopia! Yeah I did it #shameless)

JOSH: Styles has FAR too much momentum after beating Cena for him to lose. Being that he’s the most talented guy in the ring, and one of the most talented people on the mic, it’s not a bad transition to make. Unfortunately for Ambrose, outside of his promos with Ziggler, he hasn’t exactly set the world on fire with his run. For the good of the brand, Styles has to walk out with the win. What is it about AJ’s being the best at their craft, anyway? Hmm…

DEREK:  As much as I’ve been loving Ambrose in his championship run, Styles simply has to take this one. He’s proven that he’s one of the best by beating ‘The Face That Runs The Place’ John Cena on not one, but two occasions, and it would simply look weird to see him lose against the (very talented) likes of Ambrose after his victory at Summerslam. Yep, Styles takes it… and I’m really glad that I’m not a betting man because I’m also terrible at predicting things.

THE FUTURE:
MATT: Dean will definitely go for a rematch which Bray Wyatt will interrupt to set up a feud between the two of them. AJ Styles will hold the belt and most likely wrestle John Cena again in November or December. AJ deserves as long of a run has humanly possible because he really is on a different level right now… I don’t know if we can thank him or the writers or have to thank both but I’m stoked to see what top notch amazing he brings us this Sunday.

MOLLY: I’m trying to build Ambrose into a pretty strong, in-it-for-the-long-haul champion. I feel like that’s necessary for Smackdown since as RAW has had to deal with so much unpredictability involving the Universal Title (by Clash of Champions there will have already been 3 matches for it and at least 5 former contenders). So I hope Ambrose holds on to the title for now, uses his status to push some guys like Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin into legitimate threats, and keeps up with this “my square, don’t care” attitude. Let him get under the GM’s skin and act more like he runs the place. I’m sure we’re all happy with Ambrose’s impression of Heath Ledger’s Joker but please let me see Ambrose get so full of his own hype that he tries to hold Smackdown hostage and go full Arkham Asylum Joker.

As for AJ, I like that this booking has him playing subtle face to Ambrose’s role of not-really-heel-but-still-kind-of-a-dick. I’d be cool if Ambrose cheated and it lead to a stronger AJ face turn. I’d be cool if this ended in a DQ that doesn’t weaken either guy. Make it clear AJ should have won and we should all be rightfully pissed he’s not champ. So when Ziggler interrupts him the next episode and rubs it in AJ’s face that he could win his match and AJ couldn’t (much like AJ to Dolph following Summerslam), it sets up for an Intercontinental title match in the future to further elevate that title.

JOSH: After the inevitable rematch clause is pushed out of the way, the AJ vs Ambrose and Orton vs Bray feuds will switch opponents. Dean and Bray will give each other something to do until the Royal Rumble, while AJ vs. Orton will carry us into Wrestlemania season.

DEREK: I know that Cena is going to be out for some time (damned TV career), but if Styles takes it, I see the third Styles vs. Cena match being a championship match… with Cena bringing home the belt.
