Looks like Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson didn’t give up on the idea of working together after Guillermo left behind the directing duties on The Hobbit!

Today, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros announced that both Jackson and Del Toro would team up for what the pair are calling “their dream project”: ‘King Kong VS Godzilla’! Legendary Pictures, the production company behind this summer’s Godzilla and last summer’s Del Toro helmed Kaiju epic Pacific Rim, will produce the joint effort for both the studios and the creatives.

As you’ll remember, Legendary is now on the Universal lot, owners of King Kong, who put out Peter Jackson’s 2005 Kong remake. The production company was formerly on the Warner Bros lot, the company that released Pacific Rim and this summer’s Gareth Edwards directed Godzilla reboot.

Obviously, a movie the size of King Kong VS Godzilla may just need two studios to bring it to the screen. Warner Bros is no stranger to this, having partnered with MGM on Peter Jackson’s current Hobbit trilogy, and dual studio productions seem to be becoming the norm in this tent-pole driven day and age.

The only question now is… who will direct and who will produce? Or is there room in the director’s chair for both of these cinematic titans?

King Kong VS Godzilla is scheduled for a November 2016 release.

Briefly: Following a series of still images, FX has debuted a new teaser for this Summer’s premiere of The Strain.

The short teaser doesn’t really show us anything aside from an eclipse, (which I’m guessing is important) and simply states that “He is here”.

The series sounds extremely interesting, and I’m really looking forward to seeing more, I just really wish that FX would show us something, instead of these vague images and non-revelatory teasers.

In any case, take a look at the teaser below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the series. The Strain will premiere on FX this July!

Briefly: Following the first brief teaser from early last month, and the first stills from earlier this week, FX has debuted a new image for their television adaptation of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain.

The still (again) reveals little about the series (and certainly don’t give us at look at anything really exciting), but it’s certainly nice to see something out of FX regarding the show.

Take a look at the image below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the series! The Strain premieres on FX this July!

Briefly: It was just a few weeks ago that FX announced that The Strain had received a 13-episode order, and today the show’s first teaser made its way online.

The mysterious video first premiered during last night’s midseason finale of The Walking Dead (which I haven’t caught up on, so be quiet about it), but has now appeared on an official-looking The Strain related YouTube channel.

The Strain is a high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

The series sounds very cool, and I can’t wait to check out the first episode when it premieres this July. For now, take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! We’ll be sure to share more The Strain news as it comes out!

Briefly: I need to get reading The Strain, especially now that the pilot has become a series!

That’s right. FX announced today that their adaptation of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain has received a full series order. The 13-episode first season is set to begin production in Toronto this month, for a July premiere. The entire series is expected to span between 39 and 65 episodes.

Guillermo Del Toro’s summer blockbuster robot vs monsters movie, Pacific Rim, has been released on Blu-Ray/DVD.

pacific-rim-blu-ray-box-art

The movie is available as a Blu-ray 3D combo pack, a Blu-ray combo pack and a two-disc DVD pack. All three offer the theatrical release of the film (the Blu-ray 3d option offers the theatrical release in 3D) and the Ultraviolet for downloading and streaming the film to various devices.

The blu-ray packs come with numerous special features (a whole separate disc of them, in fact), including a audio commentary by Guillermo Del Toro, the Director’s notebook, a in-depth look at drift space, the digital art of Pacific Rim, focus points, deleted scenes and a blooper reel.

Those who saw the movie in the theaters won’t see anything new when viewing the theatrical release: the film is still a loud, brawling tween boy’s dream, impossibly large monsters bashing against robots who differ from the Transformers only in that they lack the Transformer’s finesse and subtlety. While it certainly doesn’t hold up to a in-depth analysis, it’s fun, with effects and a soundtrack/score that drive the movie forward towards its (predictable) end.

The special features are entertaining and interesting for fans of the film; they are the cherry on top of the sundae–provided you like ice cream.

Pacific Rim is available on Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack for $44.95, on Blu-ray Combo Pack for $35.99 and on 2-disc DVD Special Edition for $28.98.

Geekscape Score: 3.5/5

Pacific Rim could go either way for viewers, depending on the person’s movie-persona. So while I really enjoyed the film, I could also see why some people absolutely loathed the thing.

If you enjoy a movie with an interesting and dynamic plot, good acting and an exciting storyline (which I always enjoy) Pacific Rim was well worth purchasing. The special effects were awesome, and I can only imagine how they would have looked in theaters (if I’d only made it to see this film). The creatures were so realistic on the Blu-Ray that I have to assume they looked breathtaking on the big screen. The robots were completely believable as well, and overall, the substantial special effects made this movie even better.

pacific-rim3

If, however, you wanted to see an action-packed fight-filled adventure, then sure, there were some slower moments. The film often focused on the human element in a situation involving alien attack, in much the same way The Walking Dead does so in a zombie apocalypse.

The main character, Raleigh Becket, played by Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), is part of a pair of brothers who run one of the giant robots. He must overcome his brother’s death after an alien attack, and does so by joining the crews that are building giant walls around cities for protection. Eventually, his old boss wants him back in the robot (called Jaeger) program, and of course he meets a possible romantic interest, played by Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom); she wants to pilot a Jaeget to take vengeance for her parents’ death.

Meanwhile, a side story is that of the company’s two scientists, played by Rick Moranis Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Burn Gorman (Torchwood, The Dark Knight Rises), an odd-couple pairing who bring some light-hearted comedy into the story. Gorman’s character is focused on the math side of things, and Day’s is more about the aliens, and the two give the storyline a bit of much-needed humor.

My favourite scene was the almost-expected cameo (considering this is a Guillermo del Toro film) by Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Alien Resurrection) as the one-eyed illegal alien parts dealer Hannibal Chow.

As a fan of Guillermo Del Toro’s films, I didn’t really see his personal touch on the much as much as I expected to. I wanted more of a Pan’s Labyrinth or even a Hellboy feel, but it came up a bit short in that area.

Overall, I really did enjoy the film, and give it 3/5 stars. Pacific Rim is available now on Amazon.

Let us know what you thought of the film. Did you love it, hate it, or not really care either way?

Briefly: Screen Junkies Honest Trailers has to be one of my favourite series on YouTube, and now they’ve taken on one of my favourite films of the Summer, Pacific Rim.

It sure points out some (a lot of) glaring issues that the film may have had, but it also points out just how awesome it was.

Take a look at the latest instalment of Honest Trailers below, and let us know what you thought of Pacific Rim!

Briefly: The Pacific Rim Blu-Ray is now less than a week away from release (I hope you’re picking it up), and a fantastic blooper reel from the set has leaked online.

It clocks in at a cool four minutes, and certainly does a good job of showing just how fun the production of Pacific Rim was. I really can’t wait to pick up the Blu-Ray and find out what other goodies are in store. It was one of the best moviegoing experiences that I had this year, and I can’t wait to jump back into that world.

Take a look at the reel below, and let us know what you think! The Pacific Rim Blu-Ray hits stores on October 15th!

Looking for more Pacific Rim? Screenwriter Travis Beacham was a guest on the show earlier this Summer!

Briefly: This looks incredible.

I’m (like most people it seems) a pretty big fan of Guillermo Del Toro. His films (and this year’s Pacific Rim is no different) tend to be wildly imaginative, insanely beautiful, and simply wonderful works of art.

During film production (and pre-production, right down to the conception phase) Del Toro tends to keep incredibly detailed notebooks of ideas and drawings. I’ve always wanted to take a look inside one of his books, and it looks like I’m about to get my chance.

Hitting store shelves in just a few weeks is Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiousities, a book (co-written by Space Command‘s Marc Zicree) that delves into many of Del Toro’s notebooks, elaborates on the contents, and finally gives us a look inside the celebrated director’s head.

The book sounds like a must buy for me. It’s currently available for pre-order on Amazon for a cool $36.00, or you can even pick up an INSANE limited edition version for just $636. The book’s publisher, HarperCollins has debuted a trailer for the upcoming collection, featuring a quick glimpse at just what you’ll be able to experience inside the cabinet. Watch the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up!

Briefly: Now that the Summer movie season is officially over, it’s pretty safe to say that Pacific Rim was one of my most enjoyable moviegoing experiences all year. It may not have broken the box office records that it could have, and it may never get a sequel since apparently nobody saw it, but Pacific Rim was a hell of a lot of fun.

Of course, the film also had some of the best visual effects that I’ve ever seen. I still recall my first time viewing the movie, and at multiple points throughout thinking “how the hell did they make this?” It’s that incredible.

Mirada Studios was in charge of creating the film’s two-minute prologue, and they’ve released a cool new video demonstrating some jarring before and after shots. It’s a fantastic watch for fans of the film or visual effects in general, and I simply had to share! Take a look at the video below, and be sure to let us know what you thought of Pacific Rim!

To excite you for your midnight showing later tonight (you have purchased your tickets, right?), Warner Bros. has just released an awesome new clip for Pacific Rim.

The video, which is nearly three minutes in length, shows a stunning extended look at the Jaeger Gypsy Danger. The clip is made up of a series of long takes, which literally had me saying ‘wow’ at multiple points throughout.

I won’t spoil it for you. This thing is beautiful. Watch the new clip below, and let us know if you’re excited! Pacific Rim hits theatres tonight, and seeing as it’s one of the few original films this Summer, it definitely deserves your cash.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes – a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) – who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Four. More. Days.

Pacific Rim is finally just around the corner, and Warner Bros. has just debuted a fantastic new behind-the-scenes featurette for the film. A multitude of cast and crew members are interviewed during the video, including Ron Perlman, Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, and more.

You must know by now just how excited we are for Pacific Rim. We even had a fantastic opportunity to sit down with Pacific Rim screenwriter Travis Beacham, both on the show, and in a private interviewPacific Rim is set to be one of the surprise hits of the Summer, and if all of the early buzz has been any indication, this is one film that you need to see in the biggest theatre that you possibly can.

Just one more week of waiting until Pacific Rim finally hits theatres, and Warner Bros. has just released another two TV spots for the film. Just like the rest of the world, I really can’t wait to get in line for this one.

The spots are titled “Classified” and ” Fight Critics”. Each features some new footage, and does a damn good job of further exciting me for the picture. Take a look at each new preview below, and let us know what you think!

After Pacific Rim’s world premiere just a few days ago, Twitter buzz for the film has been very steady. The bulk of it seems extremely positive, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Check out some prominent quotes about the movie below, and be sure to let us know how excited you are. Pacific Rim hits theatres next Friday, July 12th.

Sounds pretty good, huh?

Pacific Rim hits theatres in just over a week, and Warner Bros. is certainly giving this original film the marketing push that it deserves. A multitude of new posters and clips have been released in recent days, and the studio has just debut a fantatic, epic final trailer for the feature.

You know full well how excited we are for Pacific Rim to release, so we won’t waste any more time telling you how incredible it looks. Watch the final trailer below, watch last week’s Geekscape featuring Pacific Rim creator Travis Beacham, and let us know how excited you are!

The Pacific Rim marketing just keeps coming! Less than one day after two new character posters were revealed for the film, Warner Bros. has released another two posters, plus a new clip to further excite you for the coming epic.

The first poster features Australian Jaeger Striker Eureka, while the second spotlights ‘Category 4’ Kaiju Leatherback. The new clip look similar to footage we’ve seen in the recent trailers, but looks like the setup for an intense battle.

Take a look at everything below, and let us know what you think! Pacific Rim hits theatres on July 12th! The movie’s screenwriter, Travis Beacham, was just a guest on Geekscape!

Pacific Rim hits theatres in less than two weeks, and Warner Bros. has definitely begun a heavy marketing push for the film. Yesterday, four fantastic new clips were released, and the studio has just unveiled two new character posters.

One image features the monstrous ‘Category 4’ Kaiju Otachi, while the other spotlights American Jaeger Gipsy Danger. The two are set to face-off in the feature, which should definitely make for an interesting matchup.

Legendary Pictures highly anticpated Pacific Rim is less than two weeks away from release, and the studio has just unveiled four new clips from the film.

Each clip takes us through a different scene from the movie, including a Kaiju/Jaeger battle, training, arguing, and some black-market dealing. Each and every one of them looks absolutely fantastic.

Guillermo Del Toro’s highly anticipated Pacific Rim is now just two weeks away, and Warner Bros. has just released a new featurette for the film.

Titled Under Attack, the featurette shows off plenty of new footage from the movie, and features Guillermo Del Toro, Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, and Charlie Day speaking about their roles in the groundbreaking project.

It’s time to talk giant robots fighting Kaiju monsters! ‘Pacific Rim’ is two weeks away from hitting theaters and this week we’ve got ‘Pacific Rim’s screenwriter Travis Beacham in studio to talk about the upcoming film, working with Guillermo Del Toro and the comic book hardback prequel ‘Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero’! Travis and I talk about the bringing Pacific Rim to theaters, the joy of creating the comic book and the current trend of remakes versus original ideas. Does Pacific Rim feel like a breathe of fresh air or a Hollywood risk? Also, what was it like growing up as a geek and probably the best Star Wars Episode 1 story of all time! Plus! We say goodbye to Richard Matheson, one of the greatest horror writers of all time!

Also, don’t miss our very own Allie Hanley’s original interview with Travis about ‘Pacific Rim’ and his upcoming ‘Ballistic City’!

This may be Pacific Rim‘s best preview yet.

Idris Elba’s fantastic ‘cancel the apocalypse’ speech overlays some incredible Kaiju/Jaeger action, and really sets a phenomenal tone for the upcoming film. The action looks amazing, the cinematography and sound are beyond impressive, and the plot sounds solid. I hope that Pacific Rim does well for Legendary, as I already feel as though this world needs to be expanded.

Damnit. I wish I wasn’t hours away from my nearest IMAX.

The FanFix poster series continues with this Summer’s release of Pacific Rim, and this poster may just be the best yet. The LA Times Hero Complex premiered the poster today, which was created by artist Sergio Grisanti. Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Toro had this to say about the beautifully crafted image:

“I am thrilled to introduce Sergio Grisanti to the world. For years he has been a highly respected commercial artist. When I was first exposed to his art for ‘Pacific Rim,’ I knew instantly that he was a powerhouse of talent. He created the Jaeger posters/card art we used at WonderCon. Without any hesitation I asked him to create this new Imax Fanfix art. Look at it closely — with a magnifying glass! So much going on! Such power! Such beauty! Sergio loves his Kaijus and his Mecha, and it shows. The poster, like my film, is a tribute to well-loved things. I wish all the fans the best time at the first Imax screenings of ‘Pacific Rim.’ Enjoy!”

The poster will be given to attendees of Pacific Rim‘s first IMAX screenings. Head here to see if your local theatre is participating! Take a look at Sergio’s poster below, and let us know what you think!

Marketing for the film has been superb so far, and today’s new TV spot is no different. The preview showcases the Kaiju destruction in many of Earth’s biggest cities. Legendary Pictures is poised to slam the box office with one of the most anticipated films of 2013 with Superman in Man Of Steel, out June 14th. Also on the near horizon is the new creation Pacific Rim, releasing on JUly 12th,  from story creator/writer Travis Beacham and director/co-writer Guillermo del Toro (G-Man).

While Legendary is known for creating some of the best action/science fiction films to date  including Frank Miller’s 300, Watchmen, and the reinvented Batman franchise, all which contained material that originated from a comic or graphic novel. While there are a lot of pros and cons to working with mythos like Batman or Superman with their built in fan-base, Legendary went in another direction with Pacific Rim.

Last year, they created a new channel of entertainment that would focus on developing their own flavor of “superhero-esque” stories, with the idea of taking the best ones and creating films from them (or vice versa – graphic novels from the film).

Legendary’s first attempt, The Tower Chronicles featured a supernatural story of heroes and villains which was well received and stayed in paper/digital form. However, their latest project, Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero, is set to capture the market with the full backing of having a film running simultaneously in 3,000 theatres. From a marketing standpoint, it’s genius, and just part of the repertoire that you would expect from a leader in the film industry such as Legendary.

In an exclusive interview, the creator of the Pacific Rim universe, Travis Beacham, talks to Geekscape about his story, working with G-Man, his uber-cool project at AMC, and film school in North Carolina.

Allie Hanley: Your new Pacific Rim graphic novel comes out June 5th. It’s the prologue to the screenplay you wrote for Legendary Pictures, Pacific Rim which opens the weekend before Comic Con kicks off in San Diego. Can you tell me about how this story is tying into the film and the world you created around these monsters and giant machines?

Travis Beacham: The film takes place over a decade after the first Kaiju attack on this world… Kaiju’s have been attacking and Jaegers (pronounced Yea-Ger) have been around for a little while… so the graphic novel takes place at the other end of the timeline. We see the first Kaiju attack as it unfolds, we see the development of the first Jaeger program, and the invention of the Jaeger teams, and we meet some of our characters in the Jaeger pilot program.

As we put the movie together it was important to us that we were put it in the context of a world that was bigger than the movie, that we weren’t just creating the stuff that we needed for the movie, but that we were creating an entire world around the movie. Even the stuff that doesn’t necessarily make it on screen or that we don’t necessarily have a use for on screen; but the fact that we thought about the history and that we planned it out, informs the confidence of the story and the apparent notion of universe.

So when we’re talking about what shape a graphic novel would take, rather than do a straight up adaptation, we all talked about what would be more interesting; and so we utilized this sort of dark matter of the story that we developed. That we created something that was additive to the experience of the  movie and an opportunity to explore the world in more detail.

Allie Hanley: A key aspect of your story includes the “Jaeger Program.” It’s the program that trains humans to control the machines that fight the monsters. Where did you come up with that name?

Travis Beacham: I am the sort of guy who agonizes over naming stuff. I spend days making lists of possible names. So when looking what to call these mechs or robots, I wanted to give them an identity. So I was looking up different translations of the word “hunter” and I came across the word Jaeger, which instantly I liked. I liked that it meant Hunter and that it sounded like like Chuck Yeager, and that when you looked at it maybe looked like the word Jaguar. So it was a perfect combination of associations. So you know that when you found a name that really works is when it coincidentally happens to be associated with several relevant things. As soon as I saw “Jaeger’ I wrote it down, underlined it, circled it, and I knew that was the name I wanted to use.

Allie Hanley: I thought you were going to tell me a story about how you passed out drunk one night on the couch, and woke up to see an empty bottle of Jägermeister on the coffee table. I like the real story better.

Travis Beacham: In an early version draft of the script there was a dive bar outside of the base called “Jägermeister’s” but that was jettisoned for an obviously predictable reason.

Allie Hanley: Legendary Pictures has really become the power-house movie studio in recent years with films like the Batman trilogy, the Hangover films, your Clash of The Titans three years ago, and here you are working with them a second time for Pacific Rim, both the film and the graphic novel. You’re a pretty young guy just graduating from film school eight years ago. What’s this kind of success like?

Travis Beacham: It was a very charmed and unique experience for me from the beginning. I had this idea basically back in 2007 <for Pacific Rim>; and sort of sat on it for awhile. I didn’t really have the details on it or ability to pitch it to anybody. It wasn’t really based on anything. It was an unfamiliar title, so it had that going against it. So I think I was really lucky because Legendary was the first place that I went to, and where it sort of landed because they have such confidence in the idea, and such conviction in it. It would have been so easy for them “well this is good and we like it, and maybe we will pull elements of it into some other property that we have;” but no, they were immediately interested on its own terms. We were all seeing the same movie, and Guillermo kind of came on board around  the same time.

Allie Hanley: Since this graphic novel is tied to Pacific Rim the movie, will it be sold in mainstream markets or only comic book stores?

Travis Beacham: It will be sold in both, hitting comic book stores June 5th, and then hitting mainstream markets when the film comes out.

Allie Hanley: I read that you graduated from a film school in North Carolina… People have a vision that if you want to work in Hollywood you need to be at a school in California… can you touch on your experience and maybe give some advice to writers?

Travis Beacham: That’s definitely the perception but I don’t think it’s necessarily true. But with that said, I think once you are ready to start your professional life it helps to be in Los Angeles as a writer. Simply because…. I think the theory is, “I don’t want to get out there because that’s where everybody is and I don’t want to get lost in the herd.”  The flip side of that coin is, is that this is where everyone who is looking for material is…. I’ve heard it said, -I think it’s a bit of an exaggeration, but if you threw a great script out of a car window in LA it would get made into a movie, or you would at least get a phone call about it.

So I think the primary thing a writer should be thinking about, -apart from the technicalities about like where to be and where you want to be based before all that, is that you make sure that you are do something that you love. People tend to hear that as “do something that you like an awful lot.” I mean do something you love.

You are not thinking about impressing anybody. You are not thinking about being clever. You are not thinking about what the appetite is or what is saleable.  You are imagining yourself on a desert island with no possibility that no one is ever going to read the thing you are going to write. You are on a desert island, and no one is going to read the story that you are going to write. And you ask yourself in that moment, what is the story that is still itching to get out, -even if there was still no audience. I think that is the thing  that you are going to write better than anything you can think of. And I think that is the script you toss out the window and you get a phone call.

Allie Hanley: Can you tell me about the first time you got involved with Del Toro?

Travis Beacham: Actually it was a spec script that I had written while still in school in North Carolina called A Killing On Carnival Road. It was a sort of fantasy/noir murder thing. It never got made but it did get optioned at New Line and Guillermo, he was sort of interested. He was actually the first director I met when coming out to Hollywood, so that was sort of intimidating to being a fan of his work. Anyway it never came together and I think Universal ended up screenwriting Hellboy 2 or something so I never had a chance to do anything with him. So when Pacific Rim came around I was very happy to have another chance to work with him. It felt very appropriate.

Allie Hanley: What were some of the stories and movies you grew up with as a teen that inspired you to become a screenwriter?

Travis Beacham: That’s funny because what I think inspired me specifically was being in film school and working with the medium, but I think that in a broader sense is that I have been making up stories way, way back when I was a kid. At some point it was just a matter of learning what a screenplay looked like and what it sounded like. At some point it really got me thinking that that was the medium for me. I have always been a fan of movies, and especially monster movies. I think Ray Harryhausen (Clash of the Titans 1981) was the first filmmaker I knew by name. And my first memory of any movie I think was an old Godzilla film. I have always, always been a fan of that sort of movie. It’s always been a constant part of my taste as long as I can remember, even before my professional career, I’ve always been a fan of those sort of genre stories.

Allie Hanley: Can you tell me about your new AMC project?

Travis Beacham: Yes, it’s called Ballistic City, and it’s a sci/fi crime show set on a generation ship that is a 100 years out into space, and another 100 away from it’s destination. What I like about that as a setting, -as a back drop, is that none of these people have ever been on Earth, they have all been born here <on the ship>, and they are going to die here. The story unfolds entirely in this bottled city in the void of space. There is something I think that is both simultaneously strange about that premise and very human. What do you do, what meaning do you find in life, in that life and reality. I think it’s a very interesting backdrop to be working in.

The title is a metaphor for a city being wrapped in a bullet being shot from earth to someplace else.

Allie Hanley: I heard you will be at Comic Con Intl for Legendary this Summer… will fans have an opportunity to connect with you there?

Travis Beacham: I hope to be there. We have this new graphic novel out. I hope it’s big enough to have me there. In the eyes of a parent, I think this graphic novel is the most beautiful thing and I hope others feel the same way.

Pacific Rim hits theatres on July 12th, and Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero is available now.

Following all of the awesome still photos and concept art from yesterday, Warner Bros has released both a new banner, and a new featurette for Guillermo Del Toro’s highly anticipated Pacific Rim.

The film’s second featurette (watch the first here) takes you onto the film’s giant sets, and shows you what it’s like to create and film a Jaeger. It’s an awesome look inside the film, and should help to further excite you for July 12th!

Pacific Rim draws ever closer, and I find myself more and more excited for the film every day. Every trailer, image, and piece of marketing for the film has looked incredible, and it’s going to be quite the experience to see the Kaiju and the Jaeger’s duke it out on the big screen.

The awesome folks over at Variety have just released a cool batch of new still images and concept art for the film. Plenty of the movie’s stars are showcased, and director Guillermo Del Toro looks damn excited to be realizing this dream. Take a look at the images below, and let us know what you think!

Warner Bros. has just released a new featurette for Guillermo Del Toro’s highly anticipated Pacific Rim, and it’s a great watch for anyone who’s interested in the movie. The video features lots of new footage, and helps explain something that I’ve been wondering about the film for quite some time: why does each Jaeger need two pilots?

The answer to that question is simple (and actually one that I’ve speculated on before), but I’ll let  you watch the featurette and find out for yourself. Check out the video below, and let us know what you think! Pacific Rim opens on July 12th!
