Zack Snyder Tweets Batmobile Sneak Peek!

Briefly: They haven’t even revealed the film’s official title yet, but Man of Steel sequel director Zack Snyder has just given us a sneak peek at the new Batmobile.

You can clearly see where its inspiration comes from, as the vehicle looks to incorporate many elements from previous film versions of the car. It also looks pretty gorgeous (from the tiny area that we can see, of course).

Based on Snyder’s tweet, I imagine that we’ll see the full reveal tomorrow. Take a look at the sneak peek below, and let us know what you think!

‘Gotham’ Gets A Season Order, Watch The First Trailer!

Briefly: We’ve been hearing casting news for months, and it’s not surprising at all, but Fox’s Gotham has finally been ordered to series.

EW broke the news this afternoon, and notes that first season will consist of “at least” 13 episodes.

The series will star Ben McKenzie as detective Jim Gordon, as well as Sara Paxton, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, Erin Richeards, Sean Pertwee, David Mazouz, Camren Bicondove, Robin Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, and plenty of others.

Surprisingly, the first trailer for the series has also hit the web. Take a look at it in full below, and let us know what you think! Gotham is set to premiere this Fall!

Although the crime drama will follow Gordon’s turbulent and singular rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara, “Burn Notice”), it also will focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune, who is being raised by his unflappable butler, Alfred (Sean Pertwee, “Camelot,” “Elementary”). It is a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the crusader he’s destined to be.

Cory Michael Smith Joins Fox’s ‘Gotham’ As Edward Nygma

Briefly: The cast of Fox’s Gotham has grown yet again.

This time, Cory Michael Smith has joined the project as Edward Nygma (who, of course, goes on to become The Riddler). His official character description states that “Nygma is a brilliant young forensic scientist working for Gotham PD and a penchant for speaking in … rather cryptic language. Inquisitive, eccentric and outgoing — yet socially awkward — he wants to be liked, but he doesn’t quite know how.”

Peter Jackson And Guillermo Del Toro Team Up For ‘King Kong VS Godzilla’!

Looks like Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson didn’t give up on the idea of working together after Guillermo left behind the directing duties on The Hobbit!

Today, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros announced that both Jackson and Del Toro would team up for what the pair are calling “their dream project”: ‘King Kong VS Godzilla’! Legendary Pictures, the production company behind this summer’s Godzilla and last summer’s Del Toro helmed Kaiju epic Pacific Rim, will produce the joint effort for both the studios and the creatives.

As you’ll remember, Legendary is now on the Universal lot, owners of King Kong, who put out Peter Jackson’s 2005 Kong remake. The production company was formerly on the Warner Bros lot, the company that released Pacific Rim and this summer’s Gareth Edwards directed Godzilla reboot.

Obviously, a movie the size of King Kong VS Godzilla may just need two studios to bring it to the screen. Warner Bros is no stranger to this, having partnered with MGM on Peter Jackson’s current Hobbit trilogy, and dual studio productions seem to be becoming the norm in this tent-pole driven day and age.

The only question now is… who will direct and who will produce? Or is there room in the director’s chair for both of these cinematic titans?

King Kong VS Godzilla is scheduled for a November 2016 release.

Today, it’s Robin Lord Taylor’s turn, who will play Oswald Cobblepot in the upcoming series. His official character description reads that “With the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Oswald Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath (for gangster Fish Mooney) who hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanour.”

Kyle’s official character description reads that she is “a teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable. A street thief and skilled pickpocket, she’s dangerous when cornered.”

Briefly: It was barely a month ago that we learned of Donal Logue’s casting as Harvey Bullock in Fox’s Gotham, and we already have the first official shot of his character.

The official description for the character reads that “Jim Gordon’s partner and mentor, the rough-around-the-edges Detective Harvey Bullock plays loose with police procedure, but he gets results … and he does it with old-school, forceful panache.”

‘Gauntlet’ Reboot Hitting Steam This Summer, Watch The First Trailer!

Briefly: Yep, Gauntlet is coming back.

Warner Bros. Interactive announced a reboot of the series today, which will launch on Steam (with full Steam Box support) later this year.

The game is set to “Gauntlet will be the first title in the WB Games Vault portfolio, which will provide us with an opportunity to access emerging talent within the game development community and match unique skills and experience with our extensive library of properties.” Sounds good to me… Maybe we’ll see a new Rampart or Smash TV next.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Gauntlet, a completely modernized action RPG version of the celebrated dungeon crawler, will be available this summer via Steam for PC, offering full support for SteamOS and the upcoming Steam Machines shipping the second half of this year. The game will lead the launch of WB Games Vault, a direct-to-digital portfolio that will deliver paid games based on popular Warner Bros. and Midway brands, plus original IP, across multiple digital networks.

 

“With Gauntlet we combined the arcade style of the original game with an entirely new look and feature set that includes emergent, local and online four-player gameplay,” said David Haddad, Senior Vice President, Digital Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Gauntlet will be the first title in the WB Games Vault portfolio, which will provide us with an opportunity to access emerging talent within the game development community and match unique skills and experience with our extensive library of properties.”

 

Gauntlet, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, innovates on past titles while staying true to the brand’s legendary format. Players select from four classic fantasy-based characters: Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie, or Elf. Each character has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Warrior does the most damage in melee combat, the Wizard has the most powerful magic, the Valkyrie has the most armor and the Elf moves the fastest. Distinctive play styles, procedural dungeons and an impressive art style keep the gameplay fresh.

 

“To us at Arrowhead, Gauntlet is one of the most defining games from our childhoods, and it’s amazing to be able to work with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on a brand new version,” said Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios. “Gauntlet is one of the original and best known video game properties and we are looking forward to creating a fresh, yet true to the original, take on a multiplayer masterpiece.”

 

Upon selecting a playable character, the gameplay is set within dungeons where the object is to fight through the chambers slaying evil creatures and completing challenges. An assortment of special items can be located in each dungeon that can restore the player’s health, unlock doors, and shift the odds in the player’s favor with magical relics which can aid the player in surviving longer in the Gauntlet. The enemies are a vast assortment of fantasy-based monsters, including ghosts, grunts, demons, spiders, sorcerers and skeleton warriors.

Selena Kyle And Young Bruce Wayne Cast For Fox’s ‘Gotham’!

Briefly: The cast of Gotham has grown once more.

Following Jada Pinkett-Smith joining the project a few weeks back (and plenty of other casting just prior to that), Touch‘s David Mazouz has been cast in the series as a young Bruce Wayne, and newcomer Camren Bicondova has come onboard as Selina Kyle.

According to the release, Wayne has been “sentenced to a solitary life after the tragic murder of his wealthy parents. Briefly: The cast of Fox’s Gotham has grown yet again.

This time, Jada Pinkett Smith has joined the project as Fish Mooney, “a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner. Wielding street smarts and the almost extra-sensory ability to read people, Fish is imposing and hotheaded — and not one to be crossed.”

‘Arrow’ Gets An Early Renewal

Briefly: This news can’t be surprising for anyone, but The CW has renewed their hit series Arrow for a third season.

While Arrow remains the most watched show on the network, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Reign, and The Originals also received early renewals.

The ‘Gotham’ Casting Continues! Donal Logue Is Detective Harvey Bullock

Briefly: It was just yesterday that Fox announced the casting of The Penguin, Alfred, and more for their upcoming series Gotham (which came just a few days after the announcement of Jim Gordon’s character), and today that cast has expanded once more.

Donal Logue, best known for his work on Sons of Anarchy and Vikings has taken the role of Detective Harvey Bullock. The official description for the character reads that “Jim Gordon’s partner and mentor, the rough-around-the-edges Detective Harvey Bullock plays loose with police procedure, but he gets results … and he does it with old-school, forceful panache.”

Casting for the project is coming along very quickly. At this rate, it’ll be interesting to see what comes next. What do you hope to see from Gotham? What do you think of the cast so far? Sound out below!

The Penguin, Alfred, More Cast In Fox’s ‘Gotham’

Briefly: After casting Southland‘s Ben McKenzie as James Gordon earlier this week, Fox has revealed more of the principal cast for their currently-in-production series, Gotham.

Accepted and Would You Rather star Robin Taylor will portray Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin). The character description in the press release reads that “With the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Oswald Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath (for gangster Fish Mooney) who hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanour.”

Zabryna Guevara

Burn Notice star Zabryna Guevara has been cast as Captain Essen. Her character is described as “Gordon’s boss at the GCPD Homicide Squad, Captain Essen balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that’s as much corporate litigator as cop.”

Sean Pertwee, The Seasoning House, Sterling Pictures

Sean Pertwee will play Alfred Pennyworth, who is “A tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London, Alfred Pennyworth has loyally served the Waynes. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne.”

Erin Richards

And finally, Erin Richards will portray Barbara Kean, who is “A sophisticated emergency room doctor, Barbara is the fiancée of James Gordon, joyful but with an edge of vulnerability. She stands by her future husband…which can be difficult in a world as corrupt as Gotham.”

Fox’s ‘Gotham’ Casts Its Gordon!

Briefly: Fox has found its Jim Gordon.

The O.C. and Southland star Benjamin McKenzie will play the young Commissioner in the currently-in-development pilot Gotham. He’ s no stranger to the world of Batman either, as he voiced the Dark Knight himself in the 2011 animated feature Batman: Year One.

Details on Gotham are still few and far between, but the series is set to tell the origin of the commissioner, and will also feature a young, pre-Batman Bruce Wayne (as well as some of the franchise’s classic villains).

FOX Lands Deal For Batman Inspired TV Series “Gotham”

After a lengthy bidding war, FOX has acquired the rights to create the television series, “Gotham,” based on the popular DC comics Batman universe.

The show, which is being developed by Bruno Heller, creator of CBS’ “The Mentalist,” will be about a younger Jim Gordon, still a detective in the Gotham Police Department. Bruce Wayne/Batman will not make an appearance, but the show will have other characters and villains from the Batman universe.

The Commissioner Gordon character was introduced in Detective Comics (1939) as a supporting character to Batman and has remained virtually unchanged ever since. Armed with his signature bushy, salt and pepper mustache, Gordon is one of Batman’s most loyal allies in the fight for justice in Gotham City. He was most famously portrayed by Gary Oldman in the Christopher Nolan ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy.

Personally, I think this could be a potentially great series and a great avenue of exploration for the DC universe. Gordon is one of my favorite characters in the series and it will be interesting to see how they fill the void without Batman in the picture. I’ve been looking forward to a grittier ‘Law & Order’ direction for the Batman franchise, so we can see how the criminal justice system in Gotham functions (or doesn’t). I hope we’ll also get to visit other Gotham locations like Arkham Asylum or The Iceberg Lounge.

‘Arrow’ Premieres October 9th: Watch A New TV Spot!

Briefly: Following some sexy character posters released just last week, The CW has debuted a new TV spot for Arrow‘s upcoming season premiere.

Titled “Sharper”, the spot appears to offer some new footage from the season, and does a really good job of reminding me that I still need to finish season one.

Batcave Revealed In New ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Screenshots!

Briefly: Batman: Arkham Origins is now just a few months away from stores, and Warner Bros. Interactive has just debuted some new screenshots for the title.

The new screens offer what appears to be a pretty neat reveal: Origins will feature the Batcave. Sure, we got a glimpse of it all the way back in Arkham Asylum, but maybe this time we’ll be free to visit?

Briefly: Warner Bros. Interactive today revealed a pretty fantastic collector’s edition of Batman: Arkham Origins. 

The package will hit shelves along with the regular edition on October 25th. The collector’s edition will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game (sorry again, Wii U owners), and will retail for $119.99.

Multiplayer Coming To ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’, Watch The First Trailer

Briefly: While it’s been rumoured since the game’s announcement, it only just became official: Batman: Arkham Origins will mark the series’ first multiplayer offering.

Created by Brink (uh-oh?) developer Splash Damage, the game’s multiplayer campaign is titled “Silent Predator”, and features some intriging 3 vs. 3 vs. 2 gameplay. Three players act as Joker’s thugs, three as Bane’s, and the other team consists of Batman and Robin (Tim Drake). The Joker and Bane teams will be playing the game as a third-person shooter, while Batman and Robin will be sneaking through the shadows trying to one-up their opponents. It sounds almost like a spiritual successor to Splinter Cell’s fantastic Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer mode.

SDCC 2013: Watch The First Trailer For ‘Arrow’ Season 2!

Briefly: During this year’s fantastic San Diego Comic-Con, The CW revealed a cool first trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Arrow. Apparently it reveals some pretty heavy spoilers for the show’s first season, so seeing as I still haven’t caught up, I haven’t actually watched the preview myself.

I’m hearing that great things are in store for the show’s second season, so I better get caught up quickly! Arrow returns on October 9th!

‘The Hobbit’ Skipping SDCC, Watch A New Production Diary!

Headed to SDCC this year and planning to see an awesome panel for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug? Too bad… there won’t be one. Director Peter Jackson has just released a new production diary for the film, and it began with some seriously somber news: everyone involved with the picture is simply too busy to attend.

The diary continues, and is pretty much exactly what you’d expect: an awesome behind-the-scenes look at The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. This of course doesn’t make up for the fact that they won’t be at SDCC, but hey, you only have to wait five more months for the feature to release.

Watch A New Featurette For ‘Man Of Steel’

Man of Steel released two weeks ago today, and Warner Bros. is by no means finished marketing it.

An awesome new featurette for the film has just been released. Dan Lemmon and Joe Letteri of Weta Digital are interviewed, and describe the process of crafting the ‘liquid-geo’ effect featured in the film. This of course is the very organic and tactile look of the Kryptonian display technology, which is used to tell a brief history of Krypton in the movie.

It’s a great watch for any Man of Steel fan, and especially those who’d like to learn a little more about Weta’s involvement with the film. Watch the new featurette below, and let us know what you think!

New Featurette Released For ‘Man Of Steel’

Just one week after Man of Steel’s worldwide release (and one day after we talked about it with Ian Kerner), Warner Bros. has unveiled an awesome new featurette for the film.

This one is very cool, and well worth the 11-minute runtime. The video takes us behind the scenes of the movie’s sound design, and it’s incredible to be able to see how they came up with the fantastic audio for this film.

Warner Bros. Interactive has debuted the first TV spot for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins. The preview is short, sweet, and to the point, featuring an extremely quick duel between Batman and Deathstroke.

Of course, the purpose of the spot is to advertise the fact that you can play as Deathstroke if you preorder the title. Sounds like a pretty good incentive, huh?

Just two days ago we showed you the fantastic first poster for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Now, it’s trailer time.

We’re just six months away from this second chapter’s release into theatres, and I couldn’t be more excited. I thought that the first film was a fantastically fun, beautiful trip back to Middle Earth, and it’ll be an absolute pleasure to jump back into this world.

‘Man Of Steel’ Sequel In Development, Snyder and Goyer To Return!

Briefly: Man of Steel doesn’t hit theatres until this Friday, but a sequel is already in development at Warner Bros.

Deadline broke the news as Man of Steel‘s world premiere went on tonight in New York. Overwhelmingly positive reviews are starting to hit the internet, so it’s no surprise that the studio doesn’t want to waste any time on this one. Both director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer are set to return for the sequel. Nolan will return as well, but his role will be smaller than in the first film.

Can’t Attend The ‘Man Of Steel’ World Premiere? Watch The Livestream!

Today has been quite a day! First, conferences from Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Sony are still ongoing preceding E3 tomorrow, Apple’s WWDC kicked off today, and now the world premiere of Man of Steel.

There are a ton of prominent celebrities at the gathering, and I’m sure we’ll see a ton of people that were involved with the film too. Us peasants have a few days to go until we can see Man of Steel, but it’s great to see that the world is excited for it.
