The teaser trailer for Edgar Wright’s The World’s End is finally set to release this week, and the film’s official website has just revealed a new teaser poster to celebrate.

Simon Pegg tweeted the poster earlier tonight, and damn am I excited. The trailer premiered earlier this week at the Entertainment Weekly CapeTown Film Festival, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

Check out the new poster below, and let us know what you think! Look for the first trailer for The World’s End in the coming days!

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Director Edgar Wright has revealed via Twitter that he not only did he shoot The World’s End this summer but a shot in another summer film. He tweeted the following:

It has been rumored for awhile that Wright was to shoot a scene that would either appear mid or post credits during Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 and set up the long in development Ant-Man film. Many of his followers replied with the Marvel Studios film as their guesses to what film the director was referring to. Wright followed up with:

ant-man

Could Marvel be getting ready to introduce Ant-Man early? Guess we’re going to have to wait and find out when Iron Man 3 hits theaters in just under a month.

This is some great news for Edgar Wright fans.

Until today, the North American release date for Edgar Wright’s The World’s End was October 25th. The director today tweeted a new release date for the film, and it’s definitely a push in the right direction.

That’s right! Instead of waiting all the way until the fall, The World’s End will now release on August 23rd. That’s a whole two months if you don’t feel like counting (and didn’t read the above tweet).

Are you looking forward to this one? Sound out below!

Remember hearing about that awesome Ant-Man test footage that Edgar Wright showed at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con? Well, it was recently shown again in London and someone in the audience was sneaky and recorded the footage and leaked it online. Check it out below.

Ant-Man is set to hit theaters November 6, 2015

Talking to IGN Movies, director Edgar Wright spoke about his plans for Marvel Studios Ant-Man. The long in development project has finally been confirmed for a November 2015 release, but not much else is known about the project. Wright stated:

610280-mu4489

“It’s a way of doing a superhero film within another genre. I wanted to tell an origin tale in a slightly different way. It’s part of the Marvel cinematic universe, but it also feels like its own piece.”

“I’ve been collaborating with [Marvel boss] Kevin [Feige] during the whole of that cycle. I think people have always assumed… ‘Oh why is it taking so long to make?’ Part of it is because I wanted to make two other movies first. I wanted to make World’s End… me and Simon were very keen to make it and it felt like it was unfinished business and we wanted to wrap up the trilogy. The script came together really fast. Well not really fast, but it came together at a certain point where it was like ‘I really want to do this next.’”

“But to be honest, the later I do it, it feels like I could learn more, especially about special effects. It’s a big effects movie, so I’m pleased to go into it having done Scott Pilgrim and The World’s End because you’re always learning more about that side.”

Wright also commented on the test reel shown at San Diego Comic-Con, which has been rumored to be shown off at some point:

“I hope that at some point we’ll be able to show that at some venue all finished. Because obviously at Comic-Con we showed it unfinished. All done it looks really good.”

It’s been recently confirmed that the highly-antcipated solo outing for Ant-Man would kick off Marvel’s “Phase Three”. Now, it’s time to begin the rumor mill on just which incarnation of the character we will see and who will be the actor to fill the role.

The World’s End hits theaters in the U.K. on August 14, 2013 and in the U.S. on October 25, 2013.

Ever since Edgar Wright debuted his test reel and Marvel dropped the logo for the film, the buzz around Ant-Man has been anything but small. Rumors have been floating around that the film would go in to production soon but we’ve yet to hear anything about a release date. That is until today. The film is confirmed to be hitting theaters November 6th, 2015.

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, sadly we will have to wait until late 2015 for Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. Interestingly, the film is set to hit theaters after the untitled sequel to The Avengers. Could we see some “small” surprise in the post credits? It would definitely be a smart moves on Marvel’s part to get people interested in this film. We will keep you updated with all the news surrounding the film…big or small.

Empire Online has revealed the poster for the the upcoming Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg written film ‘The World’s End’, which Wright is directing and Pegg is starring in. The film is the 3rd in the unofficial Wright/Pegg trilogy that began with Shaun of the Dead and continued with Hot Fuzz.

As Empire describes it (really, you should be reading Empire all the time):

The plot of the final part of Pegg (stars, writes) and Edgar Wright’s (writes, directs) Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy finds five childhood friends reuniting after 20 years because one of them – Pegg’s 40 year-old Gary King, who refuses to grow up – is trying to drag his less-than-enthusiastic mates – Nick Frost, Paddy Considine and the recently-confirmed Eddie Marsan and Martin Freeman – on a recreation of an epic 12-venue pub crawl in their home town, which culminated at a boozer called The World’s End. Somewhat aptly, because this time it seems that the world may actually be ending.

And despite what the Mayans tell us, you’ll have to wait until August 14, 2013 for The World’s End.

Doing some promo work for the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release for Marvel’s The Avengers Blu-ray and DVD release, Marvel co-president, Louis D’Esposito, discussed the studios upcoming projects and revealed a bit of information about Ant-Man as well as when we can expect to see the trailer for Shane Black’s Iron Man 3.

When he was asked about Wright’s Ant-Man test reel that was shown at this years San Diego Comic-Con that was recently revealed to be getting polished up to be released to the public, D’Esposito stated:

“Yes, I think so. Edgar is just adding the finishing touches and then we will once again make the final visual effects editing. The process is almost complete. Then we will decide when and how we can make it available to the fans. We are more than happy with it. He’s a great filmmaker and we look forward to.

I was there when he made the test reel. I now know how it works and it’s going very methodical and planned. First, he designed the concept, then the storyboard, then he produced an animatic, so he knows exactly what he’ll turn. Every morning we visited him, and he had added new material, which we then looked at together. He is a passionate filmmaker and it that’s contagious. We’ve only looked at it yesterday and every time we see it, then we think, ‘Wow! We can not wait to make this film!’”

Then came the subject of the actual Ant-Man film, which is rumored to begin filming next year after director Edgar Wright completes his next film At World’s End, D’Esposito was asked if we would see the film as part of Phase Two to which he replied:

“I’m not sure, so I can not make a definitive statement. Once we know the more accurate schedule, we will make this announcement publicly.”

Then came the subject of the footage fans are patiently waiting to see, the trailer for Iron Man 3. So, when will a trailer be released?

“I [don’t?] have the exact date…it’s just not ready. But I think it is mid to late October, you can watch a first teaser trailer.”

Even though I have already seen the footage from San Diego I can’t wait for it to be released and watch them over and over again. I actually can’t wait for Phase Two to start…can you?

In a conversation with the Omelete, Marvel exec Victoria Alonso revealed that the Ant-Man test reel Edgar Wright filmed and showed in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con is being cleaned up to possilby be released. Maybe they’re making it a teaser to possibly finally announce a release date for Ant-Man?

“What we showed at Comic-Con was a work in progress. We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it. I don’t know if we are going to post it online, but I don’t have [any reason] to believe we may not.”

I saw this teaser in Hall H and while it was rough I can definitely throw the term “bad ass” around in regards to it. It really showed that if anyone could bring Ant-Man to the big screen it’d be Edgar Wright. I am honestly hoping they do release this soon so I can sit and watch it over and over again. And to be honest one more time after that. Keep harassing Marvel until they release it! So, is Edgar Wright still on board for this?

“Edgar is on board to do it.  He’s going to do one movie before… He wrote a great script and we’re hoping that he will come and work with us.”

A very last-minute cast addition to Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 has been revealed. After having a picture snapped with the film’s cheif producer, it’s been revealed that Wang Xeuqi (Bodyguards And Assassins) will be the joining the cast of Shane Black’s third chapter in the Iron Man series.

Chinesefilms.cn reports that the 66 year old actor will play Chen Lu, the role originally set to be filled by Andy Lau, who was a scientist before becoming the villain known as Radioactive Man. Numerous times in the comics the character was employed by The Mandarin who will be making his live-action debut in this film. Lau had to drop the role wanting to spend time with his family. Not long ago it was rumored that Chen Lu would be appearing the post-credit scene for the movie that is meant to be a set up for Edgar Wright’s upcoming Ant-Man film. So, could this possibly be a set up for The Masters Of Evil to appear in the upcoming sequel to The Avengers? With Marvel I definitely wouldn’t rule out the possibility.

Rosamund Pike (who we most recently saw in Wrath Of The Titans) will star alongside Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in Edgar Wright’s final entry in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End.

World’s End chronicles a single night in the lives of a group of friends who attempt to go on an epic pub crawl.  Nick Frost has stated that ‘it’s deeper than just a pub crawl’. It’s an Edgar Wright film so we can definitely expect this night of drinking to lead to something fantastic. Shooting on the film starts next month.

By now we have all heard about the test footage for Ant-Man that was shown at this years San Diego Comic-Con and I have been talking about this movie quite a bit in the recent months. A few weeks ago I reported that Simon Pegg had tweeted that “Edgar Wright will shoot Ant-Man next year”. And now it seems that news has been confirmed. From what I have been hearing and reading around, Marvel is going to be aiming to have Ant-Man step into Marvel’s London production branch as soon as principal photography on Thor: The Dark World wraps.

There has been a rumor for quite some time that Marvel was aiming to adding a third in-continuity film during their “Phase Two” and this would totally make sense. I mean the buzz alone on Ant-Man after Comic-Con has been ridiculous. If this all pans out expect Ant-Man to begin production around late spring/early summer 2013.

So, Edgar Wright is getting ready to go into production on Worlds End in September and then gearing up for Ant-Man after that. Well add yet another movie to his schedule now.

Paramount pictures is mobilizing a sci-fi film called Collider, and it is a collision of several of the top guys in the genre. Edgar Wright will direct the film, and he is co-writing the script with I Am Legend‘s Mark Protosevich. Wright is producing with his longtime Big Talk Productions partner Nira Park and JJ Abrams through his Bad Robot banner.

Wow. Edgar seems to be a hot name right now and us over at Geekscape are definitely happy for him. I have yet to be let down by any of his films and definitely looking forward to all three of these projects myself. Just maybe Ant-man a bit more so than the others.

So, could we be getting a new Ant-Man series soon? The latest Marvel NOW! teaser features Ant-Man but doesn’t really tell us which one. With Hank Pym currently Giant-Man, and Eric O’Grady being murdered in Secret Avengers and being brought back as the Black Ant, it seems quite likely that it will be Scott Lang. Lang recently returned from the dead in the pages of The Children’s Crusade and has not been seen since. It also would be most likely off the three due to there are reports that Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish’s script for Ant-Man features Scott Lang.

Marvel Studios ‘Phase Two’ is coming and some of you may be unfamiliar with what is coming so we are here to help. First off we are going to start with…

Ant-Man (TBA)

There have actually been three different men to wear the Ant Helmet. The first and most famous is Hank Pym, a brilliant scientist that discovers a form of subatomic particles that he dubs “Pym particles.” These particles allow him to shrink down to microscopic levels. After exploring his surroundings as a pint-sized adventurer, he develops a hi-tech helmet that allows him to telepathically control all ants. Eventually, Pym realizes that his particles work the other way too, and he assumes a second superhero identity: Giant-Man. So in case anyone was still not taking him seriously, he’s now got the ability to squash them.

The second Ant-Man is Scott Lang, a single father who works as an electronics expert under Tony Stark. When his daughter gets seriously ill and the only doctor who can save her is kidnapped…Lang has no choice but to steal Pym’s Ant-Man tech and rescue the doctor himself. Pym is so impressed by by Lang’s skills that instead of having him arrested, he allows Lang to continue being Ant-Man.

The third Ant-Man, Eric O’Grady, is known as “The Irredeemable Ant-Man”. He is a low-level S.H.I.E.L.D. employee that steals an Ant-Man suit and proceeds to do nothing with it beside leering on women in the shower and stopping crime in exchange for cash and girls numbers. The Avengers eventually catch on to his act and begrudgingly try to whip him into shape.

From the test footage the suit is very much along the lines of the Eric O’Grady suit but we will most likely get Hank Pym as far as the character…even though O’Grady could possibly be the funnier one here. Apparently the film will be involving Ant-Man’s “echo time locator”. Which sadly is something I don’t actually know much about. While the movie does not have a release date it has been reported to start filming next year.

Check back next for the next ‘An Introduction To Marvel Studios Phase Two’ focusing on The Winter Soldier.

So, if you haven’t been hearing about Ant-Man this weekend you probably have not had access to the internet, been lost in the Age Of Apocalypse, been in a cave with thumbs in your ears or something along those lines. Following the buzz that has hit the internet Simon Pegg made an interesting tweet:

And honestly…who didn’t expect this? Why make a huge announcement as the start of your panel if it’s not going anywhere? Plus this news does come from a quite reliable source when it comes to Edgar Wright. For me this movie can’t come soon enough.

Saturday is the big day for Hall H every year. It’s the day when the big guns come out and if you missed Hall H this year…you missed out on the best Hall H in years.

So, the panel started with Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ and the 8 minutes of footage was just as good as what we had already seen. Following that we got to check out footage from ‘End Of Watch’ and ‘Silent Hill: Revelations’ which both looked great.

So let’s get into what you all want to know.

Legendary and Warner Bros. brought it. If you’re read the trending “#holyshit” in regards to ‘Pacific Rim’ that is honestly the best way to describe it. The footage looked amazing and unless someone bootlegged it you will not see this footage any time soon. They are going silent on it but when you do see it…be prepared to be amazed.

Following this we got a teaser trailer that made about 6,000 people lose their shit as soon as they heard that trademark Godzilla scream. The teaser was great and the fact that they will be taking a realistic approach to the movie make it seem like this one is going to be fantastic.

‘Man Of Steel’. What can I say about this? It brought fans to tears. This movie is Superman’s version of ‘Batman Begins’. I don’t even like Superman and I got choked up watching this. There were actually quite a few fans that went up to ask questions with tears of joy in their eyes. It looks phenomenal and Cavill looks perfect as Superman/Clark Kent. I don’t believe you will see the full footage that we saw but I can now confirm you will be getting a teaser trailer attached to ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ next week. Get excited.

‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ aka the panel that had more screaming fans than any. They showed 13 minutes of footage here and if you’ve been hearing anything negative about him shooting at 48 frames per second…have no worries. The film looks beautiful and will either live up to or surpass the ring trilogy. We did not get to see Smaug but we did get treated to some great scenes including one involving Gollum and Bilbo. Ring fans…you will not be let down.

So on to the next big gun aka Marvel Studios. Let’s just say I batted 100 here with this one. We had a special appearance by Edgar Wright where he showed us the ‘Ant-Man’ test footage and it looked so fucking good. The suit was definitely a mix between Pym and Eric O’Grady’s and will translate really well.

Following that we got two title announcements. ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and ‘Captain America: The Winter Solider’. You read that right fans…lose your fucking mind because we will see what you wanted since day one.

Remember when I told you that Guardians Of The Galaxy are coming to the big screen? Guess what…they are. We were shown some concept art that you see above and given our first look at the team that consists of Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Drax, Groot and Gamora.

Marvel then brought out the cast and director of ‘Iron Man 3’ who brought with them some footage of  a few scenes including a teaser trailer that is going to make Marvel fans lose their fucking minds. We got a first look at Tony trying out his new suit with the extremis tech. The biggest “holy fucking shit” moment of the teaser? Let’s just say the crowd went wild seeing a certain Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin. And yes…he had the rings on.

Check back tomorrow because I may do a more detailed podcast where I can get more into it.

Scott Alminiana and myself had the chance to catch an advance screening of the Marvel short ‘Item 47’ tonight that was followed by a q&a.

While they could not say much a few questions definitely gave us an idea of what we are in store for tomorrow at the Marvel Studios panel. The most exciting of these being the following. A question was tossed out asking if we would be seeing Ant-Man or The Wasp in an upcoming Avengers movie to which the people from Marvel studios replied.

You may want to be in Hall H tomorrow because you may get an announcement. Or you may not.

And having sat in through numerous q&a’s I could tell you that the tone that it was answered in basically was saying “You’re getting that one tomorrow”

Edgar Wright’s next project will definitely be ‘At Worlds End’ but that doesn’t mean he isn’t also working on ‘Ant-Man’. Over the past few days I have had a few bits of ‘Ant-Man’ news that even included a rumor that Edgar Wright will be shooting the post-credits scene for ‘Iron Man 3’. It appears this project may be closer to reality than ever before.

Wright has been hard at work perfecting the script with Joe Cornish. But that isn’t all he has been up to. It’s been revealed that Edgar Wright has spent a week shooting a reel of footage which will be used to test out the look of the film and how the character’s powers will be portrayed on the big screen. With the rumor that we may be getting up to three non-sequel announcements during the Marvel Studios panel at Comic-Con could it possibly mean we may be getting to see this test reel? Fingers crossed.

Not that we didn’t know it was coming already but now we have times for the Marvel Studios and Walk Disney Studios panels at SDCC 2012. Marvel will most likely be presenting footage from ‘Iron Man 3’ as well as giving updates such as casting on ‘Thor 2’, ‘Captain America 2’ and a sequel to ‘The Avengers’. We should also expect information about their other projects which are currently rumored to be ‘Ant-Man‘, ‘The Black Panther’ and ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy‘.

Marvel Studios: Saturday, July 14th 6:00pm – 7:00pm (Hall H) – Marvel Studios presents Iron Man 3. Join Producer Kevin Feige and special guests as they provide an inside look at the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures: Thursday, July 12th 2:05pm – 3:05pm (Hall H) – A Q&A panel featuring the imaginative director of Frankenweenie, Tim Burton; A special look at the world of Oz The Great and Powerful with director Sam Raimi; the illustrious voice cast of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph, including John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman and director Rich Moore.

A few days ago I reported that Marvel may be finally moving forward with the ‘Ant-Man’ movie. Now an interesting bit of information which could entirely be a rumor has hit the internet. During The Playlist’s recent podcast they dropped the following information.

“Chinese actor Andy Lau’s (who recently dropped out) role is apparently a “very different version of Radioactive Man in the comics.” And while he’s expected to pop up in future MCU films, he may appear in the post-credits scene. And that will involve him coming face-to-face with a version of Ant-Man.

Edgar Wright will possibly be shooting Iron Man 3’s post-credits scene essentially introducing Ant-Man. This may back of Wright stating he was hoping to shoot some of the movie this year.”

While it is the internet and of course any rumor could be just made upp…The Playlist is a fairly reliable source. Could this confirm rumors that we may get ‘Ant-Man’ in 2014 or 2015?

Bleeding Cool is reporting that there is some abnormal activity at three comics shops in London. Three comic shops in London that are surrounded by major movie studio offices and production companies who work on special effects. That abnormal activity that I spoke about? Well… these shops have been receiving numerous people coming in looking for Ant-Man comics. Lots of Ant-Man comics in any condition.

“Here’s the thing. No one asks for Ant Man comics. Not even, I’m told, when Marvel was still publishing Ant Man comics. Each time the individuals have been asked if it’s for the Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish film and they jump back, spooked, asking how they could possibly know…”

One individual even had a specific request, wanting reference for Ant-Man’s “echo time locator” from “the old series”.

Could this mean that Marvel has convinced Edgar Wright to begin work on ‘Ant-Man’ as soon as he finishes ‘Worlds End’? I even checked Wikipedia out of curiosity and it has ‘Ant-Man’ set at a 2013 release above ‘Worlds End’. Maybe we’re about to get a big announcement in two weeks on seeing Hank Pym, Scott Lang or Eric O’Grady hitting the big screen? Before anyone throws out a fan-cast I am just going on the record and stating my personal choice is…Patrick Wilson. Just sayin’.

Well it looks like fans of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have a little something to look forward to today. Deadline is reporting that The World’s End will start filming in September for a spring 2013 release. Wright will direct the script that he co-wrote with Pegg, who will once again star alongside Nick Frost. This will be the third film collaboration between them, following Shawn of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. Here’s the log line for the flick:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

If this flick is anything like the last two movies they worked on together then I think we will all have something to look forward to come next spring, but what does this mean for Wright’s long-in-devlopment take on Marvel’s Ant-Man? It was just last week that Wright posted a cryptic tweet, along with a picture (seen below), on his twitter page that read, “Received this in the mail. What can it mean?” The tweet, as well as recent comments from  Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige led many, myself include, to believe that Ant-Man would be Wright’s next movie. Well, it would seem as though that is not the case and that the movie is still in-development. On the bright side, fans will get a new Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg movie, which is always a good thing.

"Received this in the mail. What can it mean?" - Edgar Wright

In what promises to be the highest grossing Edgar Wright (and lowest grossing Johnny Depp) movie of all time, Disney is remaking the 1970s TV hit The Night Stalker into a feature film.

The original TV movie/series was about a Chicago newspaper reporter, Carl Kolchak (played by Darren McGaven), who investigates unsolved mysteries and crimes that end up having been perpetrated with vampires, werewolves, aliens and other supernatural beings, which is why it makes sense that Disney wants it. They’re getting it cheap/easy because it used to be an ABC show, so it makes sense and everyone’s happy.

According to Deadline, Edgar Wright is set to direct the feature and has agreed (but has not yet been confirmed) to helm the entire project, meaning he’ll get to write it as well since they haven’t hired anyone to do that yet.

The entire project was originally Depp’s idea, and with Edgar Wright’s whimsical directing style and amazing grasp of the best parts of sci-fi, fantasy and the supernatural, this movie should actually be watchable. And hey, maybe it’ll lead to another awesome franchise so that Disney can keep Johnny Depp locked up in a dungeon for another decade.

Johnny Depp is like Disney’s Katie Holmes

It will be a family-friendly, PG-13 film most likely targeted at Disney’s regular wheelhouse of “everybody who doesn’t hate happiness”.

The film has a tentative release of 2014 according to IMDb.
