It was nine years ago when The CW pulled the plug on its popular program Gilmore Girls. Starring Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore. The fast talking, coffee drinking duo returned to people’s small screens this weekend all thanks to Netflix.

Over the course of the four episodes, ‘Winter’, ‘Spring’, ‘Summer’ and ‘Fall’, an ode to Carole King’s song ‘You’ve Got A Friend’, the Gilmore Girls go through ups and downs. Reeling from the loss of patriarch Richard Gilmore, the women, Emily, Lorelai, and Rory all come to terms with the loss and all three go on a journey that make them re-evaluate life.

springIf you have not seen Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life – read this later. It does contain spoilers. Come back and read once you’re done. If you’ve finished your 6 hour binge and have seen all four episodes, pull up a chair and take a read.

Over the four seasons, we see the the ups and downs of the characters. Emily is grappling with being a widow and ultimately finds herself in Nantucket, selling the mansion fans know as the Gilmore Mansion. Lorelai is dealing with her own complications – she’s happy in her relationship with Luke, but she wants him to be happy. Her Inn is struggling, one best friend has already left and the other is on their way out. Rory is in a rut, where she’s not getting any work, has what it seems like no confidence, and has her things spread across 3 different states. Her story seems to be the one to have taken control of the series and with the ending, it’s understandably so.

In the original run of the show, the crew did what they could to have a big budget item every season. With the 4 episodes, there was a big budget item in every one. With Winter, there was snow for the entire run and from what it seems like – snow is expensive when your show shoots in Burbank California. In Spring, there was a cultural festival where there was a booth for a variety of countries with different kinds of food. In Summer, the town puts on a musical and in Fall, there is a wedding and a full on production number that involves the Life and Death Brigade – who are friends of Logan (Matt Czuchry). Out of all of them, I must say that the musical number with the Life and Death Brigade was fantastic and visually well done.

Story wise, certain points flowed throughout the various episodes. Lorelai and Luke stay together, and it’s not until the end, after a hike for clarity does Lorelai realize what it is that she wants. She wants to marry Luke. Luke on the other hand thought she was leaving him because Lorelai has signs, which fans of the show know all about, and as Luke expressed them, it made sense. Rory struggles with maintaining a job. She expresses to Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) that she’s broke, she’s homeless (over the course of the show she stays in her Mom’s, Paris’, her best friend Lane’s, her grandmother’s) and has no job. It’s Jess who suggests she writes a story about her and her Mom, points out that it’s a “cool story” that only she has perspective on. That does not go over well with Lorelai, but Lorelai eventually gives Rory consent. Rory goes to tell her father, Christopher, about the book and asks him if he was upset that Lorelai raised Rory on her own. While it seems out of left field, perfectly placed, it gives perspective on the ending and makes sense as to her line of questioning.

The show was chalk full of cameos and special guest stars. Over the course of the 10 months, from when they announced the show coming to Netflix, and the actual launch of the series, the list of who is coming back continued to grow. Amy Sherman Palladino dipped into the world of her previous series, Bunheads and brought back four of its actors. Lauren Graham brought some from friends from her days at Parenthood. Cameos were what they are, but never the less, enjoyable for fans, not just of the show, but the actors and their body of work.

https://youtu.be/kGGNNSmGDpU

What Amy Sherman Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino are masters at are giving you bits and pieces of the story sugarcoated in other things. The Final Four Words are things fans of this show have been speculating for the last decade. The Palladino duo left at the end of season 6 and were not able to write the ending of the show. A Year In The Life is how they wanted the show to end, which begs the question – Would the final four words have made sense then? The writing of this show is show specific. It’s jam packed with pop culture references, but the reference audiences don’t get or don’t understand, turns them onto Google which in turns educates them. So really, the show is educating their audiences as well. Come award season I would not be surprised if Amy Sherman Palladino gets nominated for her work in “Fall”.

Speaking of award season – I would not be surprised if Lauren Graham gets nominated. The girls all dealt with the death of Richard Gilmore in their own way. At the beginning, Emily was getting rid of everything in the house, then she tried to get back into the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and then ultimately moved to Nantucket and sold her house. She grieved, she moved on and started a life for herself. She was married for 50 years and knew nothing else really. Rory traveled, had a casual fling, and hunted for a job. She didn’t have anything steady happening. Lorelai on the other hand, still had everything in her life. She had her boyfriend, her job, her house – she just didn’t have her Dad. Lauren Graham played Lorelai on the cusp of breaking down in almost every season. There was rarely a scene where she wasn’t close to breaking down in some form. Graham reigned it in and it wasn’t until she was on the side of a mountain, calling her mother, that she broke down and told her mother a very heartwarming story about her father. It was remarkable work.

gilmore-girls-last-four-words1This is how Amy Sherman-Palladino wanted the show to end. This was her vision. The last four words were in her mind from the conception of the pilot. Sound off below on what you thought of the final four words and let us know what you thought of the Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.

There is something mesmerizing about the Royal Family. They have not been strangers to the media of the 21st century and many people find them interesting. One can compare the First Family of the United States to the Royal Family. The difference is, the first family of the United States changes every four to eight years. The Monarch remains the same until the reigning Monarch passes away and the Crown is passed.

Netflix’s The Crown takes us through the years of 1947-1956. Despite knowing what happens next, the 10 episode series makes the audience wonder what exactly happens next. In a world of spoilers, this show was spoiled by history. Yet, that didn’t seem to matter in the way this show colored in the black and white history.

the-crown-netflixThere is always talk of chemistry between actors. Does it work? If it doesn’t, does it transpire on screen? For that of Matt Smith and Claire Foy, the relationship between Philip and Elizabeth, there is some strain. Their relationship is almost awkward to watch. But that awkwardness and strain is needed. At the beginning of the series, Elizabeth is 21 and Philip is 26 – a five year difference. What a lot of people don’t know is that Elizabeth was 13 when she first developed her crush on the Prince and it was her father who made her wait until her 21st birthday to marry.

Claire Foy brings an innocence to Elizabeth at the beginning of her reign and she slowly gets stronger, more sure, of herself as the years go on. Matt Smith brings the unhappiness of a husband who thinks his wife has become the Crown and all that comes with it instead of the woman he married. Clair Foy shows the struggle Elizabeth has from not getting swallowed by the rules of the Monarchy and tries to be herself. Together they have a very tumultuous relationship and it shows.

While more things could be said about the acting of the title characters of the show, many more things can be said about John Lithgow’s portrayal of Winston Churchill. From our history books, we know he was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice. In the portrayal by Lithgow, Winston Churchill seemed very much of a curmudgeon. Very unhappy with life. But that might have been age. He was 70 years old the second time he became Prime Minister. There are moments when you feel for Winston Churchill, despite what history has told us of him. One can even argue that Mr. Lithgow’s performance may reward him with an Emmy Nomination and possible win.

Before her father’s death Elizabeth and Philip take a world tour and the sweeping shots of the countries they visit are extraordinary. There were elements that were used to make the scenery seem authentic. In partner ship with the scenery are the costumes. Period pieces are always difficult to make and seem authentic. These costumes are gorgeous – it is evident that a lot of attention was paid to detail and to the history in which these costumes needed to be placed.the-crown-season-2-770x433This season sets up a lot of history. Things one may not know. Things that need the watcher to Google and research on their own. There was a period of a few days when there was a toxic smoke that filled the air of London – many died and many survived – yet not many know about it. The same could be said for Elizabeth’s sister Margaret and her affair with a man who was much older than her. While Margaret wanted to marry this man, she couldn’t until a certain age and even then she wasn’t allowed to because of rules put in place with the Monarch. With a simple keystroke on Google, one would find that the pair did not marry and Margaret married someone else.

In a society of instant access to facts, historical pictures and shows are full of “spoilers”. The knowledge is there. It’s the actors and the talents of the director to bring out the surprises despite the historical backstory this brings.

As a whole, the season moved slowly. It was very much a set up season and set up the personalities of these characters and things that get the ball rolling. The Queen is the oldest reigning monarch, having reigned for about 65 years now and continues to rule at the age of 90. Watching this show, you know the little boy running around his mother is Charles and one day, he will be at the center of a media circus when his wife dies. And we know that he will have a son and his son will have a son – three generations of men who will take the Crown.

You can watch all 10 episodes on Netflix now. Netflix has a 6 season order that will take their audience into the Queen’s present life.

Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television, moderated the NYCC panel Marvel and Netflix and was packed with surprise appearances and announcements. Is started off with the cast of ‘Iron Fist’ making an appearance to introduce the teaser trailer.  Surprise guests included an appearance by Erik LaRay Harvey (Diamondback), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), which it was announced that she will be joining the cast of ‘The Punisher’.

The end of the very end of the panel featured the biggest surprise of the night when the main cast of the ‘The Defenders’ united on stage for the first time. Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) , Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and from joined Finn Jones (Danny Rand).

There was one more surprise guest, Sigourney Weaver (Avatar and Aliens), and it was revealed that she would be playing the villain of the series. There was no announcement of who she would actually be portraying. There is no doubt that the Hand will be a force to reckon with, so maybe she will be a part of the clan.

Netflix has set Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) as showrunner on The Punisher’, with Jim Chory and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb as executive producers.

‘The Punisher’ has already begun the early stages of production, though the series is not expected to premiere until at least 2018 after Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ and the crossover Defenders’ series have taken their bow.

I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this, but first impressions are often entirely wrong.” – Lemony Snicket, The Bad Beginning.

Those who know about Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events‘ may be familiar with the tales of Count Olaf and the Baudelaire children. You know that there are 13 novels which begins with Violet, Klaus and Sunny,  being placed into Olaf’s custody. The diabolical dealings of Olaf unfold over the 13 novels, all of them being narrated by Snicket himself.  You also might have seen the movie starring Jim Carrey as the master of disguise, Count Olaf, in 2004.

Those of you who don’t know about these events, well that’s unfortunate.

“So please, don’t make the same mistake that Netflix has, look away before this dire tale is even filmed. And avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what’s to come.”

Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ is slated to appear on Netflix on Friday, January 13th, 2017. As put by the ‘Unfortunte’ Twitter: ‘The world is vast and full of wonders… so you could always find something else to watch.’

“So please, don’t make the same mistake that Netflix has, look away before this dire tale is even filmed. And avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what’s to come.”

Take a look at the teaser that leaves an interesting first impression and let us know what you think.

Briefly: It’s almost freaking here.

We’re just over two weeks away from the highly (understatement) anticipated release of Marvel / Netflix’s next endeavour, Luke Cage, and the streaming service turned production company has just released a new clip for the upcoming series.

The clip is called “Be King”, and it’s a slick look at the styling we’re set to see in the series. It also gets us so. damned. excited.

Take a look below, and let us know how many episodes you’ll be watching on September 30th.

Netflix just dropped this video announcing a second season of one its Summer throwback hits ‘Stranger Things’ (the other being The Get Down).

I was away when this dropped and I had completely forgot about the show when I first saw its teaser way back in the year. When I finally plugged back into the web, ‘Stranger Things’ is all the world was talking about.

Naturally, Iset myself up to start a binge watch session of the show, boy did it blow me away. I was completely enamored by all the 80’s references and homages to some of my favorite films and T.V. I’m happy to see it make a comeback for a second season and hopefully the team has got something good lined up for us.

Season 2 of ‘Stranger Things’ is coming sometime in 2017.

Briefly: We were already excited for Jenji Kohan’s upcoming Netflix series G.L.O.W., but today’s news has certainly taken that excitement to another level.

The series was announced back in May, and is inspired by the real-life Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling promotion that was wildly popular before disbanding in the early 90’s.

The series, according to Variety, has been described as “big hair and body slams,” and will hit Netflix in the form of ten, thirty-minute episodes.

Variety reported today that Community star and worldwide celebrity crush Allison Brie has joined the series as its main character, “who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.”

It’s going to be so good. Hell, it’s a Netflix series, it was always going to be good.

Are you old enough to remember G.L.O.W.? Are you looking forward to this new series? Be sure to sound out in the comments below!

WOW, This trailer kicks all kinds of ass!! We also get Luke Cage wearing his bracelets and tiara even it’s for a brief moment. The trailer also lends me to believe that the Night Nurse might be playing a bigger role, one can only hope.

I know the current trend is to point out diverse casts in any productions but i have to say Netflix and Marvel are doing such a great job so far. I had not previously looked further than the main characters for Luke Cage and saw some other known actors i was genuinely excited to see. I’ve been enjoying Mahershala Ali in his portrayal of Remi on House of Cards, so to finally seem him come forward as a prominent role will be interesting.

So far I’ve been digging the old school hip hop music chosen for the trailers so I’m wondering if they are using this same type of soundtrack for the show. I noticed in the trailer that Cotton mouth is standing in front of what seems like a Biggie Smalls painting while giving his “king” speech.

We should all be super excited for this next month and putting us one step closer to the Defenders.

Luke Cage premiers September 30, 2016

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytkjQvSk2VA

Briefly: Following that phenomenal sizzle reel that Netflix released last month at SDCC, the company has finally debuted the key art for its next highly anticipated Marvel series, Luke Cage.

We’re still way too far off from the September 30th premiere, which really, really can’t come close enough, but… at least we can re-watch Stranger Things a few more times before this one finally releases?

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Take a look at the art below, and be sure to let us know if you’re excited for this one.

One of the best lunatics in film today, Willem Dafoe has just been cast as the voice to the  crazy and hollowed out Shinigami Ryuk in the English live action adaption of Death Note.

Based on the groundbreakingly popular Manga/Anime series of the same name, the English live action adaptation will be directed by Adam Wingard and stars Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi and Shea Whigham. The film will debut on Netflix.

Death Note follows the story of a high school student (Nat Wolff) who finds a magical notebook that has the power to kill whomever is written in it. The book comes into his possession by the Shinigami Ryuk. What follows is a very tense story of murder and intrigue.

There is no official release date yet, but production has started!

I personally think that Dafoe’s casting is perfect for Ryuk. It’s a bummer he’s just providing voice, because frankly he’s the only actor in Hollywood that could pull off the look with no makeup.

I just pray they bring Maximum The Hormone in to provide the theme music!

Briefly: Welcome back to Stars Hollow!

Well, that’s what we’ll be saying in a few months, anyways.

Netflix has finally announced just when we’ll be able to watch their upcoming Gilmore Girls revival, and all four 90-minute parts (one each for Fall, Winter, Summer, Spring) will debut on November 25th.

I have never seen an episode of Gilmore Girls in my life, and for some reason I’m really, really excited for this.

Take a look at the hilarious date announcement trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

https://youtu.be/fTnU5MG5Edw

Here’s your first look at Lorelai and Rory in 2016. Seasons change, but some things never will. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, a four-part event, premieres November 25. Only on Netflix. Welcome back to Stars Hollow!

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life includes four 90-minute chapters, each spanning one of the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who executive produces, writes and directs the four 90-minute chapters with Daniel Palladino. The project is from Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

When I first saw the trailer for Netflix’s newest original movie I wasn’t too sure about it. It took me three play through’s to fully digest the experience. Don’t write this off just yet, because I am losing it over this trailer.

In a distant dystopian future that is wild and out of control, join Killy on a quest to reclaim a dwindling civilization from the brink of oblivion.

It’s got everything a weaboo would want! Good voice actors. Intense, dark brooding characters. A compelling story and what looks like a mean universe for our characters to live in. The CGI animation is absolutely incredible!

Based off the 1998 manga series of the same name, Blame! looks like it’s going to be an incredible ride.

It follows the journey of a lone human, Killy, as he tries to find access to a genetic marker that allows humans to connect to the Netsphere. A control system that can stop the ever expanding dystopian “City”.

No specific release date has been given, but you can expect it sometime in 2017.

Briefly: Aw yiss.

We were all expecting to see some footage from Marvel / Netflix’ Luke Cage during the San Diego Comic-Con panel, but I certainly didn’t expect to be blown away by the footage that was shown.

Yeah, it’s definitely a teaser, and doesn’t reveal much at all about what we’ll see in the series, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t a blast to watch. The sound track and the slow-motion action fit together perfectly, and we cannot freaking wait for the September 30th debut.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. Briefly: Just last month we learned that Bojack Horseman’s anticipated third season would be hitting Netflix in its entirety on July 22nd (while many of us will be at San Diego Comic-Con and totally not able to watch it).

Today, the company released the official, hilarious trailer for the upcoming episodes, and I’m damned excited to binge through all twelve episodes.

This year, “What is success? Can two people ever truly connect? Why is Mr. Peanutbutter so annoying? BoJackHorseman tackles life’s big questions.”

Take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: Netflix doesn’t go to San Diego Comic-Con.

The company has been producing some of the most loved, talked about, recommended, and anticipated series for years now, and though they craft some of the very best products bearing the Marvel moniker, Netflix still hasn’t made an appearance in San Diego.

That, according to Deadline, is set to change this year with Luke Cage.

It appears that Cage himself, Mike Coulter will be in attendance, along with showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker and co-star Alfre Woodward. Rumour has it that Netflix will debut some new footage from the anticipated series, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a panel added to the schedule sometime in the near future.

Are you looking forward to the series? Are you planning to attend the SDCC panel? Be sure to let us know in the comments below! Luke Cage premieres on September 30th!

After Paramount decided to not distribute the film in the U.S. merely a week from its official release many were left wondering what would happen to the film. That’s when the Netflix juggernaut stepped in and acquired it and slated it for an August 5, 2016 release for theaters and live streaming.

The film looks gorgeous switching between computer animation and stop motion for the novel’s story line. Netflix may have bought itself this year an Oscar contending animation film. With a almost $100 million in global box office gross and a rating of 94% certified fresh, it’s obvious this movie will prove to be a good investment for Netflix.

A little girl lives in a very grown-up world with her mother, who tries to prepare her for it. Her neighbor, the Aviator, introduces the girl to an extraordinary world where anything is possible, the world of the Little Prince.

Ever since the end of Season 2 back in July of last year, Netflix owners have been patiently waiting for Bojack to finally make his return. Well, now we finally have a release date.

Today they announced that Bojack Horseman season 3 will be premiering on Netflix starting on July 22nd! So, while all of you guys are busy waiting in lines for panels and demos at comic con this year, you pop on over to your Netflix app and catch an episode or 2 before your panel starts. Are you excited for this release date? What’s your favorite Netflix original show? Tell us in the comments below!

Briefly: Finally, new information has been revealed about Netflix’ upcoming Gilmore Girls revival.

In a new clip from an upcoming episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show, series star (and Rory’s mom) Lauren Graham let loose that the series official title will be Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.

As was previously reported, each of the series four, 90-minute instalments will take place in a different season of a calendar year.

You can take a look at the clip from Ellen below, and be sure to let us know if you’re excited for A Year In The Life!

Me? I never actually watched Gilmore Girls, but for some reason I really want to check this out. Maybe I just like it when Netflix brings stuff back, or maybe I still have that crush on Alexis Bledel. I guess we’ll never know.

A super-cute teaser poster for the series was also revealed, which you can check out below!

We got our first trailer for the new Netflix Original Series ‘Voltron Legendary Defender’. The trailer which seems to cover the one hour origin story definitely focuses on the lightheartedness and humor, reminds me of the Thundercats reboot.

Voltron force

For now I will reserve judgment since the show is co-produced Joaquim dos Santos who was also a co-producer of The Last Airbender Series ‘Legend of Korra’, which is known for founding that perfect balance of being goofy and serious throughout the series.

Voltron Lions

The Netflix original series DreamWorks ‘Voltron Legendary Defender’ reimagines one of the most popular fan-favorite shows of all time in this all-new comedic action-packed show from executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos (The Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender) and co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery (The Legend of Korra). Five unsuspecting teenagers, transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war, become pilots for five robotic lions in the battle to protect the universe from evil. Only through the true power of teamwork can they unite to form the mighty warrior known as Voltron.

DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender debuts on Netflix June 10, with a special hour-long origin story called “The Rise of Voltron,” followed by 10 episodes.

I mean really who didn’t think this was gonna happen?

Jon Bernthal  absolutely slayed in his role of vengeful military veteran Frank Castle. The Punisher made his debut in season 2 as anti-hero who brought his own lethal form of justice to Hell’s Kitchen in contrast to that of the Daredevil.Writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal, Casualty) will serve as show runner. Netflix and Marvel are expected to publicly announce the project later today.

When i first made my way back into comes, one of the first comics recommended to me was The Punisher Max series and The Marvel Knight series. I was blown away because i hadn’t know comics to have mature story lines at the time. I completely gobbled it up and spent many Wednesday picking up the trades and hardcovers. There so many story lines to chose from that  the possibilities are endless for the upcoming series.

These are my top three story lines that i would love to see Netflix make happen:

punisher-max-vol-6-barracuda

“Barracuda”: The Punisher (Max) Vol. 6.

Barracuda is one of the greatest foes to ever go toe to toe with Frank Castle and pushed him to his limits. Barracuda was just fucking brutal and didn’t give any fucks in what stood in his way to get to Frank. Much like Frank, this guy can take a licking and keep on ticking, nothing seems to stop him and is almost impervious to any sort of pain, if anything he thrives on it. Bringing his story line might be a bit to aggressive and violent to start off, but I can dream can’t I?

Punisher_-_War_Zone_Vol_2_1a

“Welcome Back, Frank”: The Punisher (Marvel Knights)

Lets right that wrong that was the The Punisher movie and lets use the source material the way Garth Ennis intend it to be. Despite her small stature, Ma Gnucchi was a force to be reckoned with. Ma was the matriarch of the Gnucci Crime Family sets off on a vendetta after Frank kills her sons as an example to let the underground world knows hes back in action.(sound familiar?) Though i have to admit that the ending of this story line was a bit crazy and probably wouldn’t make it to adaptation. I really don’t want spoil it but it involves Frank knocking out a polar bear at the Central Park Zoo.

51tq51-KpmL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

“Homless” : The Punisher (Max)

Okay this one is completely doable for Netflix!!! Maybe not in the first season but maybe a season 3 after the Defenders movie. The Punisher is at his lowest point – homeless, penniless, gun-less. But that doesn’t him from going after Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. At this point Kingpin is completely paranoid that someone is out to kill him and doesn’t trust anyone in his organization. So he decides outsource (how capitalist of him) a new bodyguard, Elektra.  Also involved in the story line is Kingpin’s wife Vanessa Fisk and really shows off how much of a force of nature she really is. we got a taste of it during the first season of Daredevil when she stands by her man the Kingpin. This story line written by Jason Aaron ends the Marvel Max run of The Punisher and does so in great fashion with a great twist ending.

Either way, any Punisher story line written by Garth Ennis or Jason Aaron is a can’t lose decision by the show runners. Can’t wait to see this come to fruition.

Fans of Netflix’s MCU will be excited to hear that the Defenders will begin filming later this year. For now, the roster includes four main heroes. If you haven’t been keeping up, this team will be comprised of Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones.

Speaking at a Netflix event in Paris, Daredevil star Charlie Cox had this to say:

What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome. I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.

thedefenders1

As for a third season of Daredevil, the MCU seems to have put that on hold until after The Defenders is done filming. Currently, Netflix has Luke Cage up next on the slate, which will be debuting in September this year. A second season of Jessica Jones has been announced, but we don’t have a release date yet. Iron Fist is currently in pre-production and will start shooting very soon!

Netflix’s adaption of the cult favorite comic, Iron Fist, is getting another addition to the cast.

David Wenham (Lord of The Rings, 300) has just been cast as Harold Meachum.

Meachum was the business partner of Wendell Rand, Danny Rand/Iron Fist father. I don’t want to get into spoiler territory, so if you’re a fan of the books then you know exactly who Meachum is.

Iron Fist follows Danny Rand as he returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist. This is the fourth in a five series production. Marvel and Netflix joined forces to create four different shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage). All four universes will join up in the fifth series, The Defenders.

David Wenham joins the cast alongside: Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing).

Principle filming has yet to start. Iron Fist is set to air on Netflix sometime in 2017.

Briefly: Wizards of the Coast today revealed today revealed that its upcoming documentary, Enter The Battlefield – Life on the Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour will arrive on both Netflix and YouTube on April 26th.

The feature-length documentary follows “the stories of seven Magic players across a season: Reid Duke, Owen Turtenwald, William Jensen, Shahar Shenhar, Patrick Chapin, Melissa DeTora, and Chris Pikula. While their goal for every game is to defeat their opponent, their life on the Pro Tour is about personal goals. More than anyone, they compete with themselves.”

I’ve played Magic on and off for about 15 years at this point (that switch has sadly been in the off state for the past few years), and a look into the lives of the game’s very best players sounds incredibly interesting. You can take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know if you plan to watch!

Magic: The Gathering players, is now a good time to jump back into the game? Let me know in the comments below!

The westernized remake/adaptation of the Japanese manga and feature film Death Note is heading to Netflix after originally being developed by Warner Bros.

In an exclusive over at TheWrap, Warner Bros. is close to negotiations with the streaming service Netflix to pick up production of Death Note, directed by acclaimed indie filmmaker Adam Wingard, behind recent hits such as You’re Next and The Guest. In addition, actor Natt Wolff (Paper Towns) and Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers) have been enlisted to star.

Wolff will play an as-of-yet unnamed student who comes into possession of a supernatural notebook, a “Death Note” wherein whoever’s name is written will die. In the original Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and its later anime and live-action film adaptations, the central protagonist/anti-hero is named Light, a brilliant high school student with a god complex who he is accompanied by a Japanese ghost of death (“shinigami”) upon possessing the book.

According to TheWrapDeath Note was about to begin production until the studio opted not to move forward. Because of the project’s elongated timetable, Warner gave the filmmakers the option to shop it elsewhere. Within 48 hours, “nearly every studio head” approached them, according to TheWrap‘s sources.

In the wake of a mediocre box office for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. has admitted it will produce fewer films, and among them appears to be Death Note which has languished in production hell for several years. (Ha, kinda fitting.)

Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Heroes star Masi Oka will produce Death Note from a script by Fantastic Four scribe Jeremy Slater. There is no word on a release date.

Briefly: After debuting the series’ official logo just last month, Netflix and Dreamworks have officially debuted the first trailer for the upcoming Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Formed by five robotic lions, the mighty warrior known as Voltron returns after 10,000 years to protect the universe from evil. This time around, Voltron is “the last line of defense for Arus and other planets against an evil alien force led by King Zarkon.”

I’ve never been a huge Voltron guy (not because it never interested me, I simply never got around to it), but I’ll gladly watch anything with the Netflix stamp of approval on it, so I’m definitely looking forward to this experience.

Take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think! Voltron: Legendary Defender hits Netflix on June 10th!
