While Marvel Studios “Phase Two” has yet to begin, people are already wondering what exactly “Phase Three” will bring us. Both Doctor Strange and Black Panther have long been rumored to to be hitting the big screen eventually from Marvel Studios.

Now, in a recent interview Stan Lee says that you can definitely except to see Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme coming to the big screen and a Black Panther film IS indeed being developed. Could one of these be the secret film project that Joe Quesada is working on?

“Oh they are all being made into movies! I can tell you there will definitely be a Dr. Strange movie! They are working on Antman, which requires really small cameras! Black Panther is being developed, one of my favorites…the Inhumans…All the hero’s will eventually be made into movies.”

This isn’t the first time Stan The Man has talked about these project before. But in the past Lee only stated that these were being considered for adaptation. A Inhumans film was actually talked about by Kevin Feige in the past before any word of Guardians Of The Galaxy was announced. Could that be the cosmic movie of “Phase Three”?

Lee also spoke a small amount about his Executive Producing responsibilities, and stated that really doesn’t do anything.

“I have very little control. I don’t see the script, occasionally I will have lunch with the director or a star, like the guy making Antman,I don’t remember his name- I don’t remember names, or Robert Downey Jr., for Ironman and we talk about the characters.”

Lee went on to explain that the only time he actually has anything to do with the film is his cameos and just like us he’s a fan that gets excited to see these films for the first times at their premieres. When asked about how he felt about the movies:

“I love them! I feel like an actor! I can’t wait to be in the credits and also think that the Oscars should add a category for “best cameo”! But wait until you see my cameo is Ironman 3. It’s the best one so far!”

E! Online has just broken the news of  the first day that you’ll be able to check out the trailer for Iron Man 3.

This is of course something that we have all been waiting for for quite some time, there have been heavy rumours as to when we’d see some footage. It’s only now that we’re getting some concrete information.

The trailer will be hitting at 12:01 am Pacific time on October 23rd. That’s 3:01 am for you east coasters.

You looking forward to the film and the start of phase two? What did you think of Iron Man 2?

Iron Man 3 is set to release on May 3rd, 2013.

Today marked the final day of Comikaze in Los Angeles and we saw Stan “The Man” Lee do a little bit of Q&A on the main stage. During which one fan asked which cameo was his favorite that he has done in all of the Marvel movies. They also made sure to state that he couldn’t answer with “all of them”.

Stan replied stating that up until now his current favorite was the one that he did for the The Amazing Spider-Man. But then Stan went on to reveal why that one just may not be his favorite anymore.

“…but the cameo I just recently did for the movie Iron-Man 3 which I really think is my greatest cameo yet, I will actually be acting in that one!”

It won’t be the first time Stan’s appeared in a movie as an acting role but definitely will be his first time in Marvel role without just a one-liner. So, are you guys ready to see Stan steal the spotlight from Robert Downey Jr.?

So, over the course of time from Iron Man up until The Avengers, we’ve seen Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark go through seven different Iron Man armors. This year at San Diego Comic-Con we saw a new armor that inverted the red-gold color scheme, and most people had assumed this was the Mark VIII armor. Well, turns out we all may have been quite wrong.

[Warning: Possible spoilers lie ahead!]

According to Latino Review (who tend to be quite reliable with Marvel Studios news), The Mandarin’s (Ben Kingsley) Extremis goons are going to be too powerful for Stark solo.

The Extremis-enhanced bad guys under direction of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin villain are going to be too much for Tony to handle on his own, so he thinks ahead, thinks big and has a plan. Tony’s about to go out and fight some bad guys when he mentions the Mark XLVII to Pepper Potts. Pepper asks what happened to the other forty and Tony just smiles.
From the cockpit of Mark XLVII Tony is able to control multiple armors in battle. We over here at LR have been vaguely aware of an action scene where Tony was going to control multiple Iron Man suits (presumably they look similar to distract his enemies as to the location of kill-able Iron Man Prime), but the number 40 seems…awesome. 40 Iron Men.

This is definitely no far-fetched idea due to Tony Stark has sent out controlled armors in the comics before. Could this be one fantastically visual spectacle along the lines of the final battle in The Avengers or another high hopes that fizzled battle such as Iron Man 2? Honestly, I think this movie is going big. Marvel Studios has had to have taken note of the fans disappointments in the last chapter in the franchise and would not be stupid enough to repeat it again. So, what are your thoughts on this one?

A very last-minute cast addition to Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 has been revealed. After having a picture snapped with the film’s cheif producer, it’s been revealed that Wang Xeuqi (Bodyguards And Assassins) will be the joining the cast of Shane Black’s third chapter in the Iron Man series.

Chinesefilms.cn reports that the 66 year old actor will play Chen Lu, the role originally set to be filled by Andy Lau, who was a scientist before becoming the villain known as Radioactive Man. Numerous times in the comics the character was employed by The Mandarin who will be making his live-action debut in this film. Lau had to drop the role wanting to spend time with his family. Not long ago it was rumored that Chen Lu would be appearing the post-credit scene for the movie that is meant to be a set up for Edgar Wright’s upcoming Ant-Man film. So, could this possibly be a set up for The Masters Of Evil to appear in the upcoming sequel to The Avengers? With Marvel I definitely wouldn’t rule out the possibility.

Earlier today it was announced that Marvel Studios would be re-releasing The Avengers into theaters for one week. But something stood out and lingered in my head throughout the day. When they made the announcement they released this image:

And with the image they stated:

Marvel’s The Avengers is back in theaters for Labor Day Weekend!

Don’t forget to stay through the credits…

Now obviously by now we’ve all stayed through the credits and we’ve seen both the Thanos scene as well as the shawarma scene. One does not simply leave a Marvel movie during the credits!

So, why make it a point to state that and already show the picture of Thanos? Could they be attaching an Iron Man 3 teaser with the re-release? They do already have the footage that they screened at Comic-Con and trust me when I tell you that it looks great. That alone would be a way to pack theaters once again.

Just earlier this month a trailer description leaked out online indicating that indeed a trailer was prepared for the upcoming movie. Another thing to note is that MovieFest attendees in Dublin, Ireland will be treated to some exclusive Iron Man 3 footage on the weekend after Labor Day. This could just be the Comic-Con footage being shown in Ireland for the first time, but could very well indicate that Disney prepared footage for a trailer for the re-release which is only taking place stateside and then decided MovieFest would be another good opportunity to show it.

Guess we are going to have to wait until tomorrow to find out!

Production has been delayed on Iron Man 3 following the injury of Robert Downey Jr. on set. Disney has released the following statement:

“While performing a stunt on the set of Iron Man 3, Robert Downey Jr. sustained an injury to his foot. There will be a short delay in production while he recuperates.”

No other information regarding the extent of Downey’s injury is known nor how long production will be delayed. Iron Man 3 has been filming since late May and is scheduled to be released May 3rd, 2013.

So, if you haven’t seen the new suit that Tony Stark will be donning in Iron Man 3 by now…you may be a bit behind. However we have some new concept art featuring the suit in action for you to check out. The suit looks fantastic on screen from the footage that I have seen.

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Saturday is the big day for Hall H every year. It’s the day when the big guns come out and if you missed Hall H this year…you missed out on the best Hall H in years.

So, the panel started with Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ and the 8 minutes of footage was just as good as what we had already seen. Following that we got to check out footage from ‘End Of Watch’ and ‘Silent Hill: Revelations’ which both looked great.

So let’s get into what you all want to know.

Legendary and Warner Bros. brought it. If you’re read the trending “#holyshit” in regards to ‘Pacific Rim’ that is honestly the best way to describe it. The footage looked amazing and unless someone bootlegged it you will not see this footage any time soon. They are going silent on it but when you do see it…be prepared to be amazed.

Following this we got a teaser trailer that made about 6,000 people lose their shit as soon as they heard that trademark Godzilla scream. The teaser was great and the fact that they will be taking a realistic approach to the movie make it seem like this one is going to be fantastic.

‘Man Of Steel’. What can I say about this? It brought fans to tears. This movie is Superman’s version of ‘Batman Begins’. I don’t even like Superman and I got choked up watching this. There were actually quite a few fans that went up to ask questions with tears of joy in their eyes. It looks phenomenal and Cavill looks perfect as Superman/Clark Kent. I don’t believe you will see the full footage that we saw but I can now confirm you will be getting a teaser trailer attached to ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ next week. Get excited.

‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ aka the panel that had more screaming fans than any. They showed 13 minutes of footage here and if you’ve been hearing anything negative about him shooting at 48 frames per second…have no worries. The film looks beautiful and will either live up to or surpass the ring trilogy. We did not get to see Smaug but we did get treated to some great scenes including one involving Gollum and Bilbo. Ring fans…you will not be let down.

So on to the next big gun aka Marvel Studios. Let’s just say I batted 100 here with this one. We had a special appearance by Edgar Wright where he showed us the ‘Ant-Man’ test footage and it looked so fucking good. The suit was definitely a mix between Pym and Eric O’Grady’s and will translate really well.

Following that we got two title announcements. ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and ‘Captain America: The Winter Solider’. You read that right fans…lose your fucking mind because we will see what you wanted since day one.

Remember when I told you that Guardians Of The Galaxy are coming to the big screen? Guess what…they are. We were shown some concept art that you see above and given our first look at the team that consists of Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Drax, Groot and Gamora.

Marvel then brought out the cast and director of ‘Iron Man 3’ who brought with them some footage of  a few scenes including a teaser trailer that is going to make Marvel fans lose their fucking minds. We got a first look at Tony trying out his new suit with the extremis tech. The biggest “holy fucking shit” moment of the teaser? Let’s just say the crowd went wild seeing a certain Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin. And yes…he had the rings on.

Check back tomorrow because I may do a more detailed podcast where I can get more into it.

Well it look’s like next week if you are attending San Diego Comic-Con you will be able to snag one of these posters for ‘Iron Man 3’ featuring some of the concept art. Tony Stark? Check. Extremis armor? Check. Awesome? Check.

Not that we didn’t know it was coming already but now we have times for the Marvel Studios and Walk Disney Studios panels at SDCC 2012. Marvel will most likely be presenting footage from ‘Iron Man 3’ as well as giving updates such as casting on ‘Thor 2’, ‘Captain America 2’ and a sequel to ‘The Avengers’. We should also expect information about their other projects which are currently rumored to be ‘Ant-Man‘, ‘The Black Panther’ and ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy‘.

Marvel Studios: Saturday, July 14th 6:00pm – 7:00pm (Hall H) – Marvel Studios presents Iron Man 3. Join Producer Kevin Feige and special guests as they provide an inside look at the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures: Thursday, July 12th 2:05pm – 3:05pm (Hall H) – A Q&A panel featuring the imaginative director of Frankenweenie, Tim Burton; A special look at the world of Oz The Great and Powerful with director Sam Raimi; the illustrious voice cast of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph, including John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman and director Rich Moore.

A few days ago I reported that Marvel may be finally moving forward with the ‘Ant-Man’ movie. Now an interesting bit of information which could entirely be a rumor has hit the internet. During The Playlist’s recent podcast they dropped the following information.

“Chinese actor Andy Lau’s (who recently dropped out) role is apparently a “very different version of Radioactive Man in the comics.” And while he’s expected to pop up in future MCU films, he may appear in the post-credits scene. And that will involve him coming face-to-face with a version of Ant-Man.

Edgar Wright will possibly be shooting Iron Man 3’s post-credits scene essentially introducing Ant-Man. This may back of Wright stating he was hoping to shoot some of the movie this year.”

While it is the internet and of course any rumor could be just made upp…The Playlist is a fairly reliable source. Could this confirm rumors that we may get ‘Ant-Man’ in 2014 or 2015?

An awesome spoiler lies ahead! You have been warned! Today via HannibalDelarge’s Tumblr a set image from ‘Iron Man 3’ popped up that featuring the logo of a familiar group…

The the infamous terrorist organization A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) apparently will have a role in ‘Iron Man 3’? Now that is unexpected.

Unfamiliar with A.I.M.? Well, A.I.M. is an organization of brilliant scientists and their hirelings dedicated to the acquisition of power and the overthrow of all government by technological means. A.I.M. was organized during World War II as the scientific research division of the subversive military organization Hydra. It supplied hardware and weapons to governmental and quasi-governmental agencies. Some time after this Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. exposed A.I.M. to be a subversive organization. A.I.M.’s activities have been covert since.

A.I.M. also created M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing), an artificially mutated human being with an enormous head and a stunted body possessing superhuman intelligence and the ability to generate mental energy bolts and force fields.

Does this mean we could get a A.I.M./Hydra team-up in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? May we get a M.O.D.O.K. easter egg of perhaps an appearance?

Production on ‘Iron Man 3’ began last month North Carolina and we’ve been seeing plenty of set images (some containing spoilers) but today Marvel released an official image of the set. In it we see Tony Stark in his garage amongst quite a number of his armors.

Press release:

Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios’ release “Marvel’s The Avengers,” production on the highly anticipated film “Iron Man 3,” directed by Shane Black, has commenced production in Wilmington, North Carolina. The production schedule will also include locations in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, Miami, Florida and China.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Iron Man 3” returns Robert Downey Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”) as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,”) as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle (“Iron Man 2”) as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Happy Hogan. Set for release in the U.S. on May 3, 2013, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” marks the second feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

“Iron Man 3” continues the epic, big-screen adventures of the world’s favorite billionaire inventor/Super Hero, Tony Stark aka “Iron Man.” Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Charles Newirth, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard and Dan Mintz.

The creative production team on the film includes two-time Oscar®-winning director of photography John Toll, ASC (“Braveheart,” “Legends of the Fall”), production designer Bill Brzeski (“The Hangover,” “Due Date”), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) and Peter S. Elliot (“Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), and costume designer Louise Frogley (“Quantum of Solace,” “Contagion”).

Marvel Studios most recently produced the critically acclaimed “Marvel’s The Avengers,” which set the all-time, domestic 3-day weekend box office record at $207.4 million. The film, which is currently in release, continues to shatter box office records and is The Walt Disney Studios’ highest-grossing global and domestic release of all time and marks the studios’ fifth film to gross more than $1 billion worldwide.

In the summer of 2011, Marvel successfully launched two new franchises with “Thor,” starring Chris Hemsworth, and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” starring Chris Evans. Both films opened #1 at the box office and have grossed over $800 million worldwide combined. In 2010 “Iron Man 2,” starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the #1 spot in its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million.

In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey Jr. originally dons the Super Hero’s powerful armor and stars alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008, and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk,” marking its second number one opener of that summer.

So, who is Ben Kingsley playing? How big of a role does Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian have? Well, according to Latino Review they can confirm that Ben Kingsley will be playing…

SPOILER ALERT

The Mandarin!

Wait…didn’t Marvel insist that he was NOT going to be in the movie? Then again Marvel said Loki wasn’t in ‘The Avengers’ in the start at that the aliens weren’t The Chitauri. So we can’t always trust that. Apparently a source that isn’t just some random security guard making up a bunch of nonsense (it happens) HAS confirmed that he is in the movie. But the thing is… Marvel wasn’t completely lying. The Mandarin will not be the primary villain but more of a silent partner to Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian. Aldrich is the man who invents “Extremis” and an “Extremis army”.

Some very interesting details right here.

‘Iron Man 3’ suits up May 3, 2013.

Well, instead of making two small posts i’m going make a Iron Man super post.

First things first. If you haven’t already heard… after AvX alot of the creative teams are going to get shook up and switch onto different titles. And apparently one of the most solid of the rumors is that the current Uncanny X-Men team, Kieron Gillen and Greg Land, will be taking over on The Invincible Iron Man.

Kieron Gillen had even previously mentioned at Kapow that “many comics creators want to write Tony Stark right now.” And it looks like he may be the one getting that chance. I know this may not be well received by some fans but i’ve really dug what they’ve done on Uncanny… so im going to give it a shot myself.

Now onto some news that will probably “excite” (for lack of a better word) some fanboys. I’ve been revealing a bunch of male cast additions to “Iron Man 3” this week and now it looks like i’ve got a possible female cast addition or two to add.

Yahoo is reporting that DMG Entertainment, the Chinese arm that will be co-producing “Iron Man 3” with Walt Disney is in talks with actress Fan Bingbing’s agents and are preparing to begin talks on her to appear in the film.

DMG also revealed that they have also contacted Chinese actress Yao Chen for a role as well.

Yes please.

“Iron Man 3” suits up May 3, 2013.

Shooting has started on “Iron Man 3” and we are getting more and more interesting additions to the cast.

First up. According to Latino Review:

“Yesterday, Guy Pearce (who will be playing Aldrich Killian) graced Wilmington for a costume fitting along with a familiar face that is as-yet-unreported. Who was that blond man wandering around the ‘Iron Man 3′ stages?”

That man was William Sadler. Most of us will best remember William Sadler from ‘Die Hard 2’.

Next up. Variety is reporting that Ashley Hamilton is in talks to play the villain Firepower. So that adds yet another villain to the cast. However if we actually see him suit up… is another story. But the addition of this character has led to speculation that they will incorporate elements of Armor Wars into the plot.

And finally. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jon Favreau will be returning as Happy Hogan. Which is good news for anyone that was worried about there being any bad blood between Marvel and Favreau after the mixed response to ‘Iron Man 2’.

So, that’s three more additions to what is shaping up to be an awesome cast including Robert Downey Jr, Gwentyth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Andy Lau, James Badge Dale and Rebecca Hall.

‘Iron Man 3’ suits up May 3, 2013.

Deadline is reporting that actor James Badge Dale is in talks to join Iron Man 3. Badge Dale  would play a villain named Savin in the movie. Nothing else is known about the role at this time.

James Badge Dale may be familiar to people for his staring roles on TV shows such as HBO’s The Pacific, AMC’s Rubicon, and Fox’s 24. He has also had roles in films The DepartedShame, and The Grey. He will next be seen in The Lone Ranger and World War Z.

Iron Man 3 begins shootings in 2 weeks in North Carolina as well as China. It is shaping up quite nicely, Shane Black is writing and directing the film. Stars Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle are all set to return. They will be joined by Sir Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Andy Lau, and Rebecca Hall. The film is set for release May 3, 2013.

**WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS AVENGERS MOVIE SPOILERS**

So now that The Avengers have assembled and saved the world from an alien invasion whilst simultaneously racking up $200.3 million dollars in its first three days of release the logical question is “what’s next?” Marvel already has sequels lined up for the big three, which will begin what many have dubbed “Phase 2.” These sequels will all focus squarely on each character and will not feature the other Avengers. “Phase 2” will consist of:

Iron Man 3, which is scheduled to begin filming later this month and will be released on May 3, 2013. It is being written/directed by Shane Black and will be heavily influenced by the Warren Ellis story arc “Extremis.” The movie is being co-produced in China and leads many to believe that Iron Man will finally face off against his greatest villain The Mandarin.

Thor 2, scheduled for a November 15, 2013 release date. Filming begins later this summer and this time around Alan Taylor (best-known for his work on Game of Thrones) will be directing. Not much is known yet about the story but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently said in an interview that Thor 2 will pick up where the first film left off in terms of Jane Foster and Thor, as well as what’s been going on in the nine realms now that the Asgardians are unable to use the Bifrost. Loki will appear in the sequel but a new villain will be introduced. Could this new villain be someone that was introduced in The Avengers? I’m getting ahead of myself, so let me come back to that one in a bit.

Captain America 2 has already set a release date of April 4, 2014 but no director or story have been announced. Most likely it will follow Steve Rogers as he tries to find his way in this new world that he finds himself in.

Marvel has also announced that they will release a movie on May 16th, 2014 but they have not yet announced what that movie will be. Some are speculating that the mystery movie could be Edgar Wright’s long  in development Ant-Man. Just yesterday in fact, Wright posted a tweet that refers to Ant-Man.  With Edgar Wright’s previous flicks Shaun of The DeadHot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, he has already shown that he knows what to deliver the goods that we geeks so direly love. Henry Pym, the alter-ego of Ant-Man was referenced in Thor as the friend that Dr. Selvig e-mails that had previous “experience” with S.H.I.E.L.D., though his name was cut from the scene.

Now that the cosmic universe has been introduced into the Marvel movie universe with the alien race Chitauri in The Avengers, the sky is no longer the limit. Marvel now has the option of further exploring their cosmic characters if they so choose, and it would appear that they have indeed chosen to explore them. Kevin Feige has already confirmed that movies featuring The Guardians of The Galaxy and The Inhumans are currently in development.

I think that an Inhumans movie would be the perfect place to further explore the Chitauri, who are also known as the Skrulls in the comics. The Inhumans, the result of genetic experimentation by another alien race known as the Kree during their war with the Skrulls/Chitauri, have fought the Skrulls/Chitauri on numerous occasions in the comics so it would seem like a perfect fit for the Chitauri to be the villains in The Inhumans movie.

The other movie in development is The Guardians of The Galaxy, who are basically the cosmic equivalent to The Avengers. This film could help further establish the cosmic universe in the Marvel movies and could even lay the seeds for The Avengers 2, which the groundwork has already begun to be laid out as is evident by the post-credit scene featuring ***SPOILER ALERT*** “The Mad Titan” himself Thanos!

For those of you out there (after this weekend I doubt there will be many of you) unfamiliar with Thanos, he is one of the greatest threats that the entire Marvel Universe has ever faced. Thanos is essentially a god-like presence and he has quite the knack for causing death and destruction, which he does for the love of Death, whose love he tries to prove himself worthy of (she takes the form of a female-like Grim Reaper when she appears), hence the “courting death” line during the post-credit scene. He is not just a threat to Earth but the entire universe.

The Guardians of The Galaxy flick could further explore this and lead directly into The Avengers 2 or Thanos could also be the new villain that Kevin Feige was referring to for Thor 2 but I hope not. Just think of how awesome it would be for The Guardians to figure out Thanos’s plan at the end of their own movie, and realize that they must warn “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” of his plan. Avengers 2 could start similar to AVX and show Nova crashing on Earth and warning The Avengers that “he’s coming…” just before he passes out. That would be a pretty awesome start to the sequel.

Soon to be guarding a galaxy near you!

But just what might be Thanos’s plan, you might be asking yourself? Well, the answer is simple… he wants The Infinity Gauntlet!  Previously introduced in Thor as an easter egg in Odin’s treasure room, The Infinity Gauntlet contains six gems known as the Infinity Gems (or Soul Gems) and when all six gems are brought together give it’s wielder the power over power, mind, space, reality, time, and the soul. An object containing that much power in the hands of Thanos would surely spell doom and it would make for a pretty epic battle between Thanos and The Avengers. In order for Thanos to get the Infinity Gauntlet he would have to fight his way into Odin’s treasure room on Asgard to obtain it. That in itself would make for one bad-ass action scene between Thor, the entirety of Asgard and Thanos (and actually could make conceivable content for Thor 2).

Marvel has proven this weekend that anything is possible in their movies and that not just the sky is the limit. While this article has been half fact and half pure speculation, I know one thing is for sure. Whatever else Marvel releases from here on I am immensely looking forward to it! To quote the great Stan Lee himself, “Excelsior!”

The fine folks over at Deadline are reporting that Jessica Chastain, last seen in “The Tree of Life” and “The Help,” is back in talks with Marvel for a role opposite Robert Downey Jr in “Iron Man 3”. The role is a “sexy” scientist that’s every bit as smart as Tony Stark. Shane Black is writing and directing “Iron Man 3” and it is reportedly heavily influenced by Warren Ellis’ six-issue “Extremis” arc. Is it possible that Ms. Chastain will be playing Maya Hansen, a character from “Extremis”, who was indeed a “sexy” scientist?

This casting announcement comes hot on the heels of the recent (possible) casting announcements of Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley. “Iron Man 3” is shaping up to have quite the stellar cast. As always, we fine geeks here at Geekscape will keep you posted with any new announcements we come across.

The Avengers is still a few weeks away, but we’re getting our first real news on Iron Man 3 casting already. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winning actor Ben Kingsley is in negotiations to play a villain role in the upcoming sequel. According to insiders, the part is possibly not that of the main villain though. Although Iron Man’s #1 comic book bad guy the Mandarin has been hinted at since the first movie, it is far from a sure thing he’ll be the one Kingsley plays, or even be in the movie at all.  The original Mandarin was a Fu-Manchu like racist caricature of communist China, and his ten magic rings are a bit too much like Green Lantern for Marvel’s taste.

If the Mandarin does show up in Iron Man 3, it is a pretty safe bet he won't be looking like this.

If the villain is the Mandarin, he’ll probably be totally re-invented for the big screen. Iron Man 1 and 2 director Jon Favreau hinted heavily towards revealing the Mandarin as the big bad in the third part of the trilogy, but he’s no longer directing, Shane Black is. Still, Favs remains an executive producer, so he might still have some pull to get the Mandarin in. of course, even if the Mandarin is in the movie, Kingsley could still be playing someone else entirely. Remember he’s only rumored to be a villain, not the villain.

The current rumors are that Iron Man 3 would take a cue from the Extemis storyline by Warren Ellis and artist Adi Granov that ran in Iron Man #1-6 back in 2005. In that story, Tony Stark is injected with a form of Captain America’s super soldier formula mixed with nano bots, making him less of a man in a suit and more or a literal iron man. This is probably one of the more acclaimed runs of Iron Man’s book in recent memory, and would probably make a great plot for a movie.
