Briefly: Yeah, pretty much the entire internet has been beyond excited for the Men In Black / Jump Street crossover film that was first discovered way back when during the Sony email leaks.

According to Jump Street star Jonah Hill, that crossover is unlikely to ever happen.

In an interview with The Toronto Star, Hill notes that “It’s too complicated. They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff. The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it’s become a giant sequel, reboot. It’s almost become what we were making fun of and it’s hard to maintain that joke when it’s so high stakes.”

So… it’s not completely dead, but it’s probably completely dead.

Way to destroy our dreams, Jonah.

Would you be down for a Men in Black / Jump Street crossover?

Could we ask for a better science fiction crossover!? This July Green Lantern will meet Star Trek in a six-part comic book crossover event! Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War. The monthly mini-series will be written by veteran Star Trek comic writer Mike Johnson with art by Angel Hernandez (Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse, Arrow).

In a press release IDW President and COO states Greg Goldstein “We’ve looked forward to bringing these two iconic universes together for a long time, Star Trek and Green Lantern both share so many of the same science-fiction adventure themes and ideals, that a galaxy-spanning crossover like this is simply… logical.”

Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War #1 will be available in stores and online in July and have covers from Gabriel Rodriguez, Francesco Francavilla, Elsa Charretier, and Garry Brown.

Literally years have passed since the initial announcement for Professor Layton VS. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, one of the most unexpected crossovers in recent memory. After tons of speculation and a fear that the title might never get localized, those thoughts were put to rest when an official announcement was made confirming its impending release earlier this year. Now, we find ourselves about a month away from being able to play it for ourselves, but we got a small taste of what’s to come, courtesy of the Nintendo Lounge at San Diego Comic Con.

Divided into two sections, the game features both Professor Layton‘s trademark puzzles and Phoenix Wright‘s trial sections. On Layton’s side of the equation, his game play is essentially identical to his native titles, leading him and his assistant, Luke, to examine environments via the touch screen for hint coins and puzzles. Ranging from logic tests, math based scenarios, mazes, and many other challenges in between, a certain amount of puzzles need to be completed before progress can be made. While these challenges can range from insultingly easy to frustratingly difficult, the demo was kept on the simpler side of things, allowing progression to flow smoothly.

In the next few months, the much hyped Simpsons and Family Guy crossover will be unleashed on the world. To hold fans over, the crowd at Comic Con was treated to a five minute clip of what we can expect from this animated sitcom mash up. Weren’t at Comic Con? Well, since then, the clip had been all over YouTube for the public’s viewing pleasures. The results? Well… See for yourself!

http://youtu.be/-7YzXMzZ1bU

As expected, there were laughs to be had, but the clip felt a little hit or miss for me, While there were some definite laugh out loud moments, (Ralph in the school bus, the Bob’s Burgers cameo and the jab at The Cleveland Show amongst them), hearing a rape joke in Springfield was just too jarring for me. It may fit Family Guy‘s style of shock humor, but it doesn’t fit with Bart in the scene. Oh, and by the way, is anyone else over the chicken fights? Even with Homer being involved?

Will the special live up to the expectations it’s set through about a year of hype? What did you think of the clip? The special is scheduled for September 28th.

Set your web browser to random as hell. In this random clip from some random special, we get a glimpse at what the USS Voyager would be like if the cast from Frasier were in control.

Did Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli deliver in this first crossover between the 616 Marvel U and the Ultimate universe? Yes. Yes they did.

I’m going to do my best to keep this one spoiler free here because I want you to buy and read this issue. I’m loving ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ right now. I’m loving ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ right now. So when I heard they were doing this…I was in. The first book I grabbed on my stack today was this issue and I sadly had to make it through my entire work shift until I could read it.

I mean right from the start the book is beautiful. Pichelli is in top form here and her pencils mixed with Justin Ponsors colors make the images just leap off the page.

And not only is the art top notch. Bendis from the get go gets right into it with the Peter Parker we all love. You can’t help but have a smirk on your face during this book. And if this issue is any indication of the rest of the series…i’m not going to like this mini-series. I’m going to love this mini-series.

Now we’ve come to the point where I have to bite my tongue. We all basically know WHAT happens. I’m just not going to say HOW it happens. But WHEN it happens…it’s great. We know what’s going on the second half of this issue while Peter doesn’t and Bendis did a real good job of showing a confused and lost Parker.

I’m going to keep this review short and end it here. It’s a great start and while it’s not action packed it really does fantastic job establishing the base of the story.

I’m not going to score this book but instead give it my personal pick of the week. It should be on the top of any Spider-fans stack.

Starting next month we will see the first crossover between the 616 universe and the Ultimate Universe. Peter Parker will come face to face with Miles Morales in what looks to be a major storyline. A story that will have an effect on both universes as well as many of the characters within these universes…

Bendis has stated that “Ultimate Aunt May and Ultimate Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy and Nick Fury are all involved in the story as well, so there are lot of extremely emotional moments that are going to happen that are almost surreal, but I think very cathartic. I think issue #4 was when Sara emailed me and said, “Alright, I cried. You got me.”

“Nick Fury had a lot going on with Ultimate Peter, and his connection to Miles, and what the right thing to do here is,” he adds. “Every one of these characters has deep, emotional investment into the Spider-Man mythos, some of them suffering quite a lot, and there may be room here for some catharsis that lets them move forward in a positive way. What is it like for a character like Gwen Stacy to find out there’s another universe out there with another Gwen Stacy?” If you haven’t read or heard by now…this crossover is caused by the fan favorite vix.llain…Mysterio “You will find out all of what’s going on with Mysterio, and how this is connected to the Ultimate Universe, in the very first issue. We give that up right away, because there’s so much else to get to. You will see what Mysterio has done and how he’s done it, and for long-time readers, they’ll be very excited; if you don’t know a damn thing about Mysterio, you’ll know exactly what’s going on.”

I’m pretty excited to read this one myself and if you want to check out the full interview…click the link below.

Final Fantasy has had some interesting crossovers in the past, with the two most recent being Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 with the N7 Armor as a downloadable armor for the main characters of FF XIII-2 as well as an Assassin’s Creed costume also available as a downloadable costume for FF XIII-2. However, I was made aware of a very….unique….crossover for Final Fantasy XIII with……Prada!?

In the latest issue of the men’s fashion magazine, Arena Homme+, there is a 12 page-feature starring Lightning, Noel, Sazh, and Hope as they wear outfits from the Spring/Summer men’s collection, posing as if they are part of a fashion shoot.  It’s certainly different enough that people from the video games and fashion lifestyles will be buzzing about this for the time being.

When asked about this crossover, Max Pearmain, editor of Arena Homme+, had this to say.

Our Spring issue focuses on a world of direction and escapism, and having a visually stunning videogame franchise such as FINAL FANTASY work alongside us and a leading fashion brand like Prada to create something so unique is incredible; I’ve always been interested by the power of videogames and their place in society, and the amount of work that’s gone into this project blows my mind. We’re incredibly pleased with the result.

Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy XIII-2, also had this to say regarding the partnership

The FINAL FANTASY series is known for its creativity and innovation; so working with Prada, a renowned fashion house with such beautiful clothing was a very exciting opportunity. The images we have been able to create together are vibrant and unique,

The images are certainly unique, and considering how Final Fantasy characters have been evolving in terms of visual appearance, I suppose it makes some sense to partner with Prada, even if it seemingly came out of nowhere, and the characters do feel at home as fashion models with their appearances. My personal favorite happens to be Sazh, that is funny.

What are your thoughts on this interesting partnership?

I have heard a lot of interesting crossovers during my time as a gamer: Kingdom Hearts, Super Smash Brothers, and Marvel vs. Capcom to name a few, and I’ve enjoyed many of these crossovers whenever I came across them, though I was never seriously invested in any of them to warrant dedicated gameplay. Most of these crossovers warranted at least a cursory examination depending on how out-of-place they were, or how the developers came up with a way to unite two completely different franchises, though there usually was an element tying them together that made sense, whether it’d be story-setting, similar game mechanics, or artistic aesthetic.

When I first heard about Pokemon and Nobunaga’s Amibition having a crossover, I was dumbstruck because these two franchises are extremely different to me.  Pokemon is a family-friendly RPG series where you capture monsters to become a Pokemon Master while Nobunaga’s Ambition is a RPG series in which you choose one of many feudal warlords of Japan in order to conquer and unify the country under a single ruler. How in the world would you take these two franchises with two completely different themes and settings and combine them into a coherent story with gameplay?

Analyzing one of the trailers, it looks like you choose one warlord with a specific Pokemon, and you attack your opponent’s Pokemon in a tactics-based RPG combat setting, similar to Final Fantasy Tactics advance, and you proceed to conquer your other opponents in their story, whether each warlord has their individual story, or you’re playing the same story with each warlord offering their own unique dialogue to situations in the game. The game does certainly look interesting to at least check out, though whether it is good or not, or even if the game will even see an international release, remains to be seen.
