Seriously, Bethesda. Just give us Fallout 4 right now, okay? Every day they seem to be releasing more and more tantalizing tid-bits of information to keep us gamers excited.

Today they released this short little video detailing the Character System in Fallout 4. The new perk system looks WAY better than it was in previous titles.

Fallout 4 hits store shelves November 10th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Fallout 4 is getting closer and closer to our grubby little hands. Bethesda has us chomping at the bit with these awesome videos detailing all the different stats your character can have.

If you’re not up to speed, check out the others in the series!

Part 1 Strength

Part 2 Perception

Fallout 4 hits store shelves November 10th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Briefly: As if Fallout 4 needed any more advertisement, Bethesda today launched a hilarious new campaign called ‘Do You Know What Makes You S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?’.

S.P.E.C.I.A.L., of course, is an acronym that stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, Luck. This makes up the character stat system in the Fallout series, and it’s pretty freaking clever.

The video campaign began today with a video detailing the Strength stat, and just what it can do for you in the game. The video comes in the format of a 1950’s style cartoon, and as with all Fallout marketing, it’s so freaking cool.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Fallout 4 hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10th! The company has also just detailed a season pass, which normally wouldn’t interest me at all, but c’mon, it’s Fallout.

Looks like we’ve already got our long term Fallout 4 gameplan all sorted. With the announcement that there are no level caps in Fallout 4, we were all pretty happy with the end game content of the game.

Bethesda let loose this great bounty of news on their official blog today. That besides the normally expected hotfixes and free content we’ve come to expect from Bethesda, they’ve announced some SWEET details of their Season Pass, paid DLC releases and their mod support!

The most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own experience, and modding is a big part of that. Like all our previous games, we’ve made sure to keep Fallout 4 open and moddable at every step in development. Early next year we’ll release for free the new Creation Kit for the PC. This is the same tool we use in the studio. You’ll be able to create your own mods and share them with others. We’re especially excited these same mods will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation 4.

We’ve always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30. Since we’re still hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you’ll get it all with the Season Pass.

Thanks again to all of you! The support and excitement you’ve given Fallout 4 has blown us away. It’s energized us even more to do everything we can in these final months to make this our best game yet. We absolutely can’t wait for you to play it, and share your adventures with us and each other.

Usually the term “Season Pass” is met with furrowed brows and furiously angry comments on Reddit, but in the case of Fallout 4, I’m okay with it. The expansions that have come with past “modern” Fallout titles have always at least met their dollar amount in play value. It is refreshing to know that they haven’t event begun to start WORKING on the expansions. FABULOUS!

Briefly: I don’t play a lot of shooters, and I almost never play user created content in my games, but damn does this look cool.

Bethesda has just debuted a new look at next year’s upcoming Doom.

The video shows off the SnapMap technology that Bethesda developing for the title, which is an easy-to-use content creation system that “aims to deliver the ability for anyone to make their own DOOM.”

Take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the title!

The HUGELY popular mobile title from Bethesda has just hit the Google Play store!

Originally released on iOS, Fallout Shelter earned Bethesda a STAGGERING $5.1 Million in just two weeks!

So if you’ve got Android, head on over to the Play Store and get your hands on some Vault action!

Good news everyone! Looks like the folks over at Bethesda have listened to our cries! Fallout 4 will let you continue playing even after you finish the main story, and there is no level cap!

Previous entries in the Fallout series have had issues with their endings. Fallout 3 for example had players enter into a scenario that forced them to STOP playing. If you saved and reloaded, the doors behind you were locked. If you wanted to muff around anymore, then you had to start all over OR not even finish the game.

The removal of a level cap seems odd though, it will be interesting to see how ridiculous players can get their stats up to.

Fallout 4 hits stores November 10th.

Can’t or won’t is the operative question that needs to be asked here. In a recent interview with Gamespot, Bethesda Marketing VP, Pete Hines, said that the factory making the special edition of Fallout 4  has hit their capacity.

They’re being made today, it’s not like they’re done and sitting in a warehouse. [The factories would tell us,] this is what the yields say. I mean, we don’t make [the Pip-Boy Editions], and we’d go back to [the factories] and say, ‘Demand for this is insane, we’ve got to make more.’ And they’d move other projects off or shift stuff to other factories and it just came to [them telling Bethesda], ‘Final answer: sorry, this is as many as we can make.’ And we sold every single one of those that we could.

If you’re NOT in the know, the special edition of Fallout 4 comes with a replica of the in game device of the same name. This plastic shell will house your phone, and run an app that interfaces with the game, so you can go menu diving on your wrist.

I personally find it very Nintendo of them to say they can’t make more. It’s a definite WON’T scenario with Bethesda here, as a second or third printing would yield them a HUGE amount of sales. Ebay listings of the preorder right now are starting at around $300 US! THREE HUNDRED!

Briefly: This is crazy, and not something I’d expect from a game with totally optional, not necessary at all in-app-purchases.

Bethesda’s first foray into mobile games, the revered and heavily downloaded Fallout Shelter, has brought in over $5.1 million dollars in the first two weeks that it was available.

When the game was announced, Bethesda was very quick to note that this game, while free to play, was simply designed to be a fun experience for fans. It features no pay wall, timed building, energy systems, or otherwise, and the only in-app purchase in the entire game, simply gives you random bonuses that you can also earn by completing objectives in games.

This is a pretty insane achievement, and it’s truly a testament to how successful the free-to-play model can be. Sure, most mobile developers gouge their players with dozens of options, lives, and currencies, but if you look at the success (or lack of) for premium titles on the iOS or Android app markets, typically, the decision to make an app free to play is a no brainer. For an app featuring only one in-app purchase that isn’t necessary at all, however, this is beyond impressive.

Kudos, Bethesda, now excuse me while I go play some Fallout Shelter (which I’ve managed to avoid putting money into thus far.

Are you playing Fallout Shelter? What do you think of the game so far?

Briefly: It’s coming far sooner than I’d expected, and it looks absolutely phenomenal.

Yep, Bethesda just revealed far more of Fallout 4 than we saw in its announcement trailer last week, and it was breathtaking.

Words really, really don’t do it justice, so take a look at the Fallout 4 E3 footage below, get a far bigger peak of post-war Boston, and let us know what you think.

Oh yeah, and it releases on November 10th. I guess Christmas is early this year.

https://youtu.be/InxJ59Netms

One of the coolest looking new features? Being able to rebuild your town, attract people into it, and protect it from raiders. Aw yiss.

E3 is nearly here, and Bethesda is kicking the party off a little early. We know we’ll be (aww yiss) seeing more of Fallout 4 and Dishonored 2 (probably), but what else could Bethesda have in store for us?

And do we even care what else they have in store for us? Fallout 4, baby!

Juan is live on the ground at the Dolby theatre, so follow below for our liveblog of the anticipated event (and the stream), and be sure to let us know what you’re excited to see!

Bethesda is set to get the ball rolling at 7PM!

Watch live video from Bethesda on www.twitch.tv

Briefly: Yesterday, an ominous countdown appeared on Bethesda’s official Fallout website. We weren’t entirely sure if, when the countdown expired, we’d see the announcement of a new Fallout game, or if the publisher would simply tease us until E3 in a couple of weeks.

Well, Bethesda just saved us a ton of frustration, and essentially made us cream out pants in excitement, by revealing Fallout 4 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One today.

Bethesda notes that you can tune into their E3 Showcase on Sunday, June 14th at 7:00pm PT to see the world premiere of the game.

The cinematic trailer confirms that Fallout 4 takes place in the Commonwealth that we’ve heard so much about in previous games. This is, of course, the game’s version of Massachusetts.

Now, Fallout 3 is one of the few open world games that I’ve ever truly enjoyed (and I couldn’t put it down), and as such, I really, really, couldn’t be more excited for this. Judging from everything we’ve heard since the countdown went live yesterday, it sounds like most of you feel the same way.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you’d like to see in Fallout 4.

https://youtu.be/GE2BkLqMef4

Briefly: After countless rumours and an elaborate hoax over the past year, it appears that Bethesda is finally, actually about to announce Fallout 4, or at least something Fallout related.

The previous Fallout game was New Vegas all the way back in 2010, so it’s about freaking time they gave us something. Sure, Skyrim is cool, but it was never able to hold my attention the way that Fallout 3 did (New Vegas wasn’t really my thing).

Today, Bethesda’s official Fallout website was updated to a simple countdown that is slowly descending to tomorrow at 7AM.

We don’t know exactly what’s going to happen (do they flat out announce a game or tease us all the way to E3), but we’re pretty excited. Head to the countdown here, and let us know how excited you are.

Villager

We’ve been teased and told all about the upcoming fourth title in the Doom series. Doom 4 is well… going to be called DOOM. Creative right?

Well Bethesda has been advertising and teasing their E3 press conference for a few months now. They promised HUGE surprises, and most people started hoping and praying for Fallout 4. So when I heard about this DOOM  announcement I was a little surprised. Then I heard there was a teaser trailer! Then I was let down by how brief it is.

The Bethesda E3 showcase can be seen live, Sunday June 14th at 7 PM PST. You can be sure that Geekscape will have you covered if you can’t make it live!

Briefly: Shinja Mikami’s long-awaited return to survival horror is here! The game has been garnering (mostly) positive thoughts from reviewers around the world, and as a huge survival horror fan, I really can’t wait to get my hands on it (after I finish Alien: Isolation of course).

The game releases today on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and Bethesda has just debuted the launch trailer for the title/

Here’s what SJ thought when she played the game back at E3:

And it is scary. We screamed a little bit during our play through. And at one point, as we were sloshing waist deep through thick, congealing blood attempting to solve a puzzle to get to the next room, we were certainly viscerally affected by the well-realized world. Stealth and sneak attacks are preferred; noise and light draw unwanted attention. And the zombie/monster/box-man creatures? Only stay dead after you burn them. And matches are in short supply.

Between The Evil Within and Hideo Kojima/Guillermo Del Toro’s Silent Hills, survival horror seems to be back on AAA developer’s minds. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! If you’re a PS4 owner and you haven’t checked out P.T., you’re definitely missing out!

Briefly: We were pretty disappointed when Shinji Mikami’s return to survival-horror, The Evil Within, was pushed back to October, and our hands-on with the game back in June certainly didn’t table our excitement. But now the game is almost here, the delay is all-but-forgotten, and we’re more than eager for Mikami and co. to scare the pants off us.

The game is scheduled for release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 14, and Bethesda today debuted a fantastic, extremely cinematic new trailer for the title.

Evil Within (Tango Gameworks/Bethesda)

From Shinji Mikami–the twisted mind that brought us the Resident Evil series–The Evil Within is a survival horror game brought to surreal life with the new id Tech 5 engine.

The game follows Detective Sebastian Castellanos down a dark rabbit hole, to a helter-skelter world with twisted monsters, brutal traps and a unrelenting amount of gore.

All that blood there? Barely the tip of the gore iceberg.

Touted by Bethesda as the return of pure survival horror, Evil Within has a world which can change in real time–doors disappear, corridors stretch on endlessly, threats can come from anywhere, at anytime.

And it is scary. We screamed a little bit during our play through. And at one point, as we were sloshing waist deep through thick, congealing blood attempting to solve a puzzle to get to the next room, we were certainly viscerally affected by the well-realized world. Is it a huge departure from the Resident Evil world? Well, yes and no–it has a very similar feel to Resident Evil Four, but not so much to five and six. We didn’t get to play much, but what we did play was a well-done, well-executed survival horror from the master of the survival horror genre. Ground breaking? Maybe not. But fans of the genre have something to look forward to on October 21st, when The Evil Within hits stores.

The Evil Within will be available on PC/Xbox360/Playstation 3/Playstation 4/Xbox One.

Check out the trailer below and stay tuned for more post-E3 info!

Bethesda previewed, BattleCry, their new free-to-play multi-player combat game at E3 and it looks bloody awesome! BattleCry will be a mix of melee and ranged fighting and will be a 32 player online game. It is going to be fast and fun where different kinds of players can jump in at any time.

BattleCry1

BattleCry is set in an alternate history where there is no gunpowder. Instead of going to war, countries send warriors to specific “war zones” to fight out there differences. The game developers wanted a very stylized world and were inspired by graphic novels. There is a wonderful contrast between the beauty of the environment and the brutality of the fighting. The world is also somewhat surreal to reflect the state your character is in – constantly on the verge of death.

 BattleCry3

Right now there are two warrior factions: The Royal Marines (British) and the Cossacks. There are three warrior classes within each faction: Enforcer (brute strength), Duelist (speedy and sneaky), and the Tech Archer (can play a cat and mouse game). By the launch in 2015, there will be two additional warrior classes. There are currently two supporting warrior classes as well: the Gadgeteer and the Brawler. Each class has a special ability and you can use adrenaline (which costs energy) to be essentially super human for a short period of time.

 BattleCry5

BattleCry6

There are many customizations for your character too. You can earn iron (currency) to alter your appearance and you will keep your character for each battle (no starting over every time). Eventually, you will be able to unlock both genders for all characters.

This game features an intimate 3rd person camera and you are able to move around slowly or go rather quickly. After the game ends, you can salute people who you felt played well. You get rewarded for saluting your opponents and they get recognition – it’s a win win situation.

If you are looking for a cool looking fast-paced game, then you will want to check out BattleCry!

Briefly: It almost seems as though we’ve seen more delays than AAA game releases this year, and that trend is set to continue with two announcements today.

First up, Bethesda has pushed Shinji Mikami’s anticipated The Evil Within by two months, stating that “Shinji Mikami and his team at Tango Gameworks have asked for additional time to further balance and refine the game in order to deliver the polished, terrifying pure survival horror experience they set out to create.” The game will now release in October.

http://youtu.be/Zc-jvqJV4SI

Next up, gorgeous-looking PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886 has been pushed to early 2015. Ready At Dawn’s delay announcement was much more subtle, hidden among the text of a Playstation Blog post detailing the latest info on the shooter.

Which game were you most looking forward to? Are you disappointed in the delays, or would you rather have a better finished product?

Briefly: Bethesda has just launched a creepy new trailer for Shinji Mikami’s Summer horror game, The Evil Within.

The latest video shows the game’s protagonist probably going crazy, and then (appropriately) questing his sanity himself. The trailer shows off some absolutely gorgeous segments, and also features exactly the creepy shit that you’d expect to see from the creator of Resident Evil.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game. The Evil Within launches for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on August 26th.

Briefly: While it didn’t make its original 2013 release date, Machinegames Wolfenstein: The New Order is finally set to launch on May 20th.

Publisher Bethesda Softworks has just debuted a new gameplay trailer for the title, which takes us on a train from Poland to Berlin, with (of course) Nazi’s and robots aplenty.

The game has been developed using id Software’s Tech5 engine, which is why this title is looking awfully pretty. You can take a look at the video below, and be sure to let us know what you think. Again, Wolfenstein: The New Order hits store shelves on May 20th, and will be available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and PC.

Briefly: Finally, Shinji Mikami and Tango Gameworks The Evil Within has a release date.

The survival horror title (which looks fantastic, check out some gameplay footage here) will launch in North America on August 26th, and Europe on August 29th.

As a big fan of survival horror games, 2014 really seems like a great year to follow the genre. The fantastic Outlast just launched for PS4, Zombie Studios Daylight looks promising, Techland’s Dying Light should be awesome, and there are plenty of other games coming down the pipeline. Unless a Silent Hill reboot is announced (that doesn’t suck), Mikami’s name attached to The Evil Within could be the best news the genre has had in years, and it certainly has horror fans excited.

Are you looking forward to this one? Sound out below!

While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.

While thesurvivor2299 website was a hoax (but a darn good one, we have to admit), the most recent spate of Fallout 4 rumors seem to be real. Documents leaked to Jason Schreier at Kotaku.com show that Fallout 4 is in development at Bethesda, and it looks to be set in Boston.

Shreier was able to confirm the documents—which are from the casting call for a project with the code name Institute—as being the real deal. There were rumors way back in 2012 that Bethesda devs have also been looking around MIT—coincidence? We think not!

While none of the details in the leaked documents can necessarily be trusted (game developers aren’t above handing out completely misleading scripts in order to protect their secrets), they are interesting nonetheless. Here’s a few that caught our eye:

1. The player starts by waking up in a cryogenic chamber.

2. There is a radio DJ named Travis Miles.

3. And an engineer named Sturges who is described as a cross between Buddy Holly and Vin Diesel (what?)

4. The Institute is MIT in the post-nuclear apocalypse world

So, while there’s still a whole lot of if, thens, what-ifs and maybes, this is still more solid information then we’ve had before!

Bethesda remains mum on all of this, but hopefully we can expect an announcement soon-ish. Certainly by GDC or E3? Maybe? Pretty please, Bethesda?

Briefly: According to a post on the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Markets site, Bethesda has trademarked the name Fallout 4 in Europe.

The website, which is part of the official trademark office of the European Union, has revealed that Bethesda Softworks LLC has officially filed to trademark the Fallout 4 name on November 14, 2013. The game is rumored to take place in Boston, Massachusetts, although that is probably far from being officially confirmed.

At any rate, fans of the Fallout series should be thrilled! As someone who has logged countless hours in on Fallout: New Vegas, I am looking forward to any more announcements that will be made about the game! We’ll be sure to share anything else that we hear.

Where would you like the game to be set. More importantly: did you prefer Fallout 3 or New Vegas?

Probably not official art... but maybe.
Probably not official art… but maybe.

Briefly: Gamers, you have seen the first season of Fallout: Nuka Break, haven’t you?

Nuka Break‘s original release was a 16-minute long fan film that hit YouTube all the way back in 2011. It was so popular, that the fine folks over at Wayside Creations turned the property into a webseries.

Back in April 2012, a Kickstarter Campaign to fund a second season if the series began. During its two month-duration, the campaign raised a fantastic $130,746 of its $60,000 goal, meaning that fans would indeed get a second season, and it would be awesome.

Season 2 of Fallout: Nuka Break is finally here. Finding our heroes right where we left them at the end of the beloved first season, the season begins with Eastwood being threatened with nuclear destruction. With Ben’s health declining and the threat of Leon’s presence, Scar, Ben, and Twig find themselves separated and in more danger than ever.  If they want to rid the world of Leon’s evil once and for all, they must each face their own demons and, ultimately, make a sacrifice.

Sounds great, right? You can watch the entire 10-episode second season of Fallout: Nuka Break below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: I love survival horror. At least, I love what survival horror used to be. Sure, we had the absolutely incredible The Last of Us earlier this year (though that was much more survival than horror), and there’s some excellent looking PC titles on the market right now (Outlast anyone?). Sadly, the once mighty greats of the genre have fallen, and current Resident Evil and Silent Hill titles are nothing but average action games.

With The Evil Within, Bethesda Softworks and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami are hoping to reinvigorate the classic survival horror genre, and I couldn’t be more excited. A new, extended gameplay video for the title has just been released, and it looks absolutely unreal.

Take a look at the footage below, and let us know what you think! The Evil Within is still a ways away, and simply has a release date of 2014 at this point, but the game will launch on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4.

Detective Sebastien Castellanos and his partners are called in to investigate a gruesome mass murder. After witnessing a mysterious force slaughter his fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When the video opens, he finds his world has been turned upside down. Facing unimaginable terror and fighting for survival in a world where hideous creatures wander among the dead, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel who or what is behind this unimaginable evil.

With The Evil Within, Bethesda Softworks and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami are hoping to reinvigorate the classic survival horror genre, and I couldn’t be more excited. A new teaser for the game has just been released, and as expected, it looks creepy as hell.

Take a look at the short video below, and let us know what you think so far! The Evil Within is still a ways away, and simply has a release date of 2014 at this point, but the game will launch on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4.

Briefly: This is freaking awesome.

Machinima Prime has just debuted a fantastic new Skyrim live action fan film. Created by Warialasky, a Machinima partner based in Utah who is best known for his Skyrim, Goldeneye, Tetris and Splinter Cell live action pieces, this latest live-action Skyrim short follows Dovahkiin, the noble dragonborn hero, who is cursed in a fight with a vampire.

The video clocks in a nearly 20 minutes, and had me invested right from its opening scene. I haven’t seen any of Warialasky’s other work, but following this unreal Skyrim short, I’ll be looking them up immediately.

Take a look at Skyrim: Into The Void below, and let us know what you think!

http://youtu.be/xy5LizCEGF8

Dovahkiin has completed the task of eliminating Alduin and saving the world from destruction, only to have contracted vampirism along his journey. Most of Skyrim remains oblivious to this feat and shun him from their towns because he has become a vampire, leaving Dovahkiin to wander the wilds.

The head of the Dark Brotherhood, Astrid, captures Dovahkiin and brings him to a remote cabin in the marshes, believing she can use him. Promising a cure for his vampirism, Astrid convinces Dovahkiin to assist the Brotherhood on a mission to rescue a captured member of the Brotherhood.
