Hoping to find out how Phil Coulson survived the events of The Avengers in Shane Black’s Iron Man 3?  During a roundtable Q&A for the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Kevin Fiege was asked whether or not Tony Stark knows that the fan-favorite Agent is alive. Fiege responded with:

Does Tony know that?  No.

Well, looks like we’re going to have to wait until Joss Whedon’s pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on ABC this summer to find out how Phil survived the battle of New York.

A few months back it was revealed that Disney and Marvel were teaming up to work on a full-length animated feature featuring Marvel’s Japan based super hero team Big Hero 6. But since then, there’s been no word regarding the project until today.

Big Hero 6

It’s now been revealed that Don Hall’s Big Hero 6 will be hitting theaters on November 21, 2014. Unfamiliar with the obscure Marvel characters?

Big Hero 6 is a superteam in the Marvel Comics universe. They technically first appeared in Sunfire and Big Hero 6 #1 (September, 1998), though they were created by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau in the pages of Alpha Flight, volume 2. When the Japanese government wanted a team of state-sanctioned super-heroes at their disposal, a top-secret consortium of politicians and business entities known as the Giri was formed to recruit and train potential superhuman operatives for “Big Hero 6.”

Official news regarding the project should be expected to be revealed at either this year’s San Diego Comic-Con or Disney’s D23 Expo.

Talking to IGN Movies, director Edgar Wright spoke about his plans for Marvel Studios Ant-Man. The long in development project has finally been confirmed for a November 2015 release, but not much else is known about the project. Wright stated:

610280-mu4489

“It’s a way of doing a superhero film within another genre. I wanted to tell an origin tale in a slightly different way. It’s part of the Marvel cinematic universe, but it also feels like its own piece.”

“I’ve been collaborating with [Marvel boss] Kevin [Feige] during the whole of that cycle. I think people have always assumed… ‘Oh why is it taking so long to make?’ Part of it is because I wanted to make two other movies first. I wanted to make World’s End… me and Simon were very keen to make it and it felt like it was unfinished business and we wanted to wrap up the trilogy. The script came together really fast. Well not really fast, but it came together at a certain point where it was like ‘I really want to do this next.’”

“But to be honest, the later I do it, it feels like I could learn more, especially about special effects. It’s a big effects movie, so I’m pleased to go into it having done Scott Pilgrim and The World’s End because you’re always learning more about that side.”

Wright also commented on the test reel shown at San Diego Comic-Con, which has been rumored to be shown off at some point:

“I hope that at some point we’ll be able to show that at some venue all finished. Because obviously at Comic-Con we showed it unfinished. All done it looks really good.”

It’s been recently confirmed that the highly-antcipated solo outing for Ant-Man would kick off Marvel’s “Phase Three”. Now, it’s time to begin the rumor mill on just which incarnation of the character we will see and who will be the actor to fill the role.

Ant-Man is set to hit theaters November 6th, 2015.

Remember when we told you that Marvel Studios was considering adapting Planet Hulk and World War Hulk for the big screen? That we wouldn’t see another solo movie for The Hulk until after the sequel to The Avengers? According to Latino Review, a very reliable source when it comes to Marvel Studios news, both statements are true. The Hulk will be back for the sequel to The Avengers, and we’ll be seeing him sent off to space at some point.

That’s right people. The next time you see The Hulk in a solo film will be a film adaptation of the critically acclaimed “Planet Hulk”. And there’s definitely BIG plans for what is going to follow that. How big are we talking here? Well, there’s going to be a war coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s not a “Civil War”. That’s right people…this is all leading to an adaptation of “World War Hulk”, an adaptation that sees the green behemoth return to earth with his alien army to take revenge. You can now pick your jaws up off of the floor.

Following the news of  Ant-Man and Dr. Strange spearheading “Phase Three” with possibility of a Heroes For Hire film as well, the excitement levels for “Phase Two” have grown exponentially.

Marvel’s “Phase Two” begins on May 3rd with Iron Man 3.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine now only do we get our first official look (even though sadly it’s a set image) from Thor: The Dark World, but we also get some new plot details from the upcoming sequel. The image features an armored up Chris Hemsworth as Thor and director Alan Taylor on set with some Asgardian warriors in the background.

While speaking with magazine executive producer Craig Kyle revealed that the events of the upcoming sequel will take place one year after The Avengers and two years after Thor.  He also revealed that at the start of the film that we will see Asgard battered by war and The Nine Realms beset “by rag-tag invaders known as The Maraunders”.

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Both Ant-Man and Doctor Stange have been two projects that Marvel Studios has talked about but never confirmed. That was until at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con when Marvel announced finally announced Ant-Man was happening. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has now spoken about Marvel Studios “Phase 3” and stated that the character will be a major part of it.

ant-man-movie-logo

“Ant-Man’ is definitely part of Phase Three. Like ‘Iron Man 3,’ it’s certainly set in the Marvel Universe.”

Fiege also went on to state that Marvel’s next phase will be quite different from what they’re telling currently.

“So much of what we’re telling right now is about the core ‘Avengers’ characters we’ve now met, and they’ll be evolving in big, surprising ways, in Cap’s next movie and Thor’s next movie and of course in ‘Iron Man 3,’ as we get them all into the next ‘Avengers’ film. Beyond that ‘Ant-Man’ is the only one officially announced.”

Fiege then went on to confirm that Dr. Strange is DEFINITELY a part of Phase Three.

“‘Doctor Strange,’ which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is ‘Ant-Man,’ which keeps us excited.”

Marvel Studios “Phase Two” hasn’t even officially started but the excitement is already building for the next phase. Could the next step for Marvel be an all-new cast of characters versus sequels? Well, hopefully we get at least a Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel.

It’s been revealed via the Marvel Cinematic Universe Facebook page that next week not only will Marvel unveil a new poster for Iron Man 3 but also a sneak peek at the Super Bowl TV spot. It’s only another four short months until Marvel Studios “Phase Two” begins.

Two new names have joined the list of actors that Marvel is eyeing for a role in James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. According to Latino Review, who is pretty reliable when it comes to Marvel Studios projects, Marvel Studios is looking at some big name comedic actors for a role in their upcoming space epic and are asking about the availability of both Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler. Don’t worry, these two aren’t joining the list of actors up for the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord. It’s obvious that these two are being looked at for either the role (or roles?) of the gun-toting Rocket Raccoon or his buddy Groot, who will be the comedic relief of the film.

Well, it’s either that or Cosmo the space dog. Also, keep in mind that looking into the availability of an actor definitely isn’t the same as casting the actor. With shooting set to begin in a few months though, expect official casting announcements for the highly-anticipated Marvel Studios film to begin very soon.

Just last week at the Golden Globes, actor Toby Jones expressed his interest reprising the role of Arnim Zola in Marvel Studios Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Now, while speaking with Joe Cunningham of HeyUGuys at the Critics Choice Awards, the actor let it slip that he has been called by Marvel and that he will indeed be returning as the Marvel Comics villain.

Now, it’s time to wonder which Arnim Zola we will see in the upcoming sequel. Will he be seen in his android body that we all know from the comics, which the blueprints were seen as an easter egg in Captain America: The First Avenger, or will he be merely appearing in flashback sequences in the upcoming sequel? Regardless, this is shaping up to definitely be one of 2014’s most anticipated movies.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters April 4, 2014.

There’s been talks of a Heroes For Hire movie being worked on for quite some time now, even as far back as when The Avengers was first announced, but with only pretty vague comments being made about it. Well, that is until now. Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb mentioned the potential project while talking about the Ultimate Spider-Man series with Buzzfeed. But just mentioning it doesn’t mean much, right? Well, maybe we’re making inferences based on how he mentioned it, comparing it to Marvel’s last big movie announcement.

“Just like we just announced Guardians of the Galaxy, we are certainly looking at the Heroes for Hire franchise which is Luke Cage and Iron Fist and Nova is very important to us; he happens to have a new comic book series starting in February which is oddly enough written by me.”

While he doesn’t state much about it, this is definitely promising news regarding these characters. Could this be the first planned movie of Marvel Studios’ “Phase Three”? We sure hope so!

While these aren’t too revealing at all, Disney has sent out a press release that contains brief synopsises for Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians Of The Galaxy. The press release also confirms that both films will be released in 3D. Could this cosmic force of epic proportions be Thanos or an entirely new threat that we don’t know about yet?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (Marvel) will be available in 3D.
Releases on 4/4/14. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER will pick up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. The film stars Chris Evans in the title role and will be directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (Marvel) will be available in 3D.
Releases on 8/1/14. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, based on the Marvel comic books of the same name, features an unlikely cast of characters who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. James Gunn will direct.

Pretty much as soon as word broke that Disney had acquired Lucasfilm and that we’d see Star Wars: Episode VII coming to theaters in 2015, fans have been talking about a desire to see Joss Whedon helm the next chapter. That was until they remembered that Whedon would be directing the sequel to a little movie called The Avengers. Well, don’t worry. You weren’t the only one who forgot about it. At first Whedon thought “Maybe I should see if I can get the job”, before remembering he already was a little tied up.

“I’m as angry as you should be. When I heard that I was like, ‘I wonder… no, I really can’t do that. Oh, I already have a job.’ I wouldn’t clear the Avengers. I’m having so much fun with that sequel right now, just with the script, that I couldn’t imagine not doing it.”

Whedon is currently also working on Marvel and ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. television series at the moment and told CNN that the show is reminding him how “taxing television can be”.

“I’d forgotten how much work TV was so I’m cranky at everybody all the time. But it’s really fun. We have a beautiful ensemble and we’re having so much fun coming up with the stories. It really is like working at Marvel Comics, which was a dream of mine as a kid because this little book ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ that not that many people read …[The show’s] not as big as the movies [and] we’re telling smaller stories but we get to do it more often. “

Source: CNN

When word broke that Clark Gregg would be returning as Agent Coulson for Marvel & ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D., many wondered if perhaps the series would be a prequel to Marvel Studios the Avengers. There’s also been plenty of theories regarding how the character would re-appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, while speaking with IGN, ABC President Paul Lee was asked how Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. would tie in with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he has revealed that the pilot will be taking place after the battle of New York in The Avengers. So, life model decoys?

“There is no question that it is part of the Marvel Universe. In fact, the story takes place after the battle for New York.”

He also pointed out that while this is a part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, this series is very much a standalone series at the same time.

“This is S.H.I.E.L.D. They’re following their own particular stories. There are characters in it, Coulson, who clearly comes from Avengers. So it’s part of the world, but we’re going to be very, very careful that we don’t tread on the toes of the features and build a whole new world. And that’s what Joss Whedon does better than anybody else. He’s built a world for us.”

When asked about introducing more Marvel characters if the series gets picked up (even though we all know it’s going to), Lee sounded pretty optimistic about the possibility.

“I think if we’re lucky enough to have a great series, we’re obviously having fun with that. At this point though, we have a number of characters at the heart of the script who are real characters, who are the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the first task is to make those guys great and relatable and everything that a great show needs. Beyond that, fingers crossed!”

Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot begins filming next week and will most likely air on ABC during the fall.

There’s been quite a bit of casting talk recently regarding the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in Marvel Studios Guardians Of The Galaxy. But with the production on the film set to begin soon, what about the rest of the cast?

Apparently a source close to the production has revealed that Isaiah Mustafa (who you may know best as The Old Spice Guy), Brian Patrick Wade (The Guardian) and Dave Bautista (The Man With The Iron Fists) are all currently in negotiations for the role of Drax The Destroyer in the James Gunn directed space-epic. In the comics, Drax was an a human named Arthur Douglas whose family was attacked and killed by Thanos . The being known as Kronos took the soul of Douglas and placed it in a powerful new body to challenge and destroy Thanos. Thus, Drax The Destroyer was born. However, it has been revealed that they will be changing the character’s story for the film.

With filming expected to begin very soon we can expected to hear some official announcements regarding casting very soon.

Guardians Of The Galaxy is set to hit theaters August 1, 2014.

Just earlier today it was revealed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was on the list of contenders  for the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in Marvel Studios highly-anticipated Guardians Of The Galaxy. Based on that we assumed that maybe he was the mystery actor who had read for the role before the holidays. Well, it appears we may have been wrong because just a short while ago actor Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) revealed that he is also in the mix for the role in Marvel’s upcoming space epic.

The fan-favorite actor has actually already previously worked with director James Gunn in the past. There’s definitely a chance that Gunn may be going after someone that he’s more familiar working with for the role. But then there’s plenty of great candidates on this ever-growing list and with production set to begin in a few months an official announcement regarding who lands the role should be expected soon.

Guardians Of The Galaxy hits theaters August 1, 2014.

It appears that the list of actors up for the role of Peter Quill aka Star Lord in Marvel Studios Guardians Of The Galaxy just got a bit more interesting. Before Christmas it was revealed that among the shortlist that was already revealed, both Zachary Levi (Thor: The Dark World) and an unnamed actor were also up for the role.

Well, it appears that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Looper) is the latest candidate for the role in the James Gunn directed space epic.  While it is unclear if Gordon-Levitt has been offered the role, his name is definitely in the mix over at Marvel Studios. After his performances in Looper and The Dark Knight Rises this year, Levitt is definitely a great candidate for the role. With production set to begin in a few months an official announcement regarding who lands the role should be expected soon.

Even though five actors were tested last week for the lead role in Marvel’s upcoming space-epic Guardians Of The Galaxy, it appears that only three actors remain up for the role of Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord, the leader of the team. According to Variety, actor Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas) and Zachary Levi (Thor: The Dark World) are the frontrunners for the role in the Marvel Studios film.

It’s worth noting that Levi wasn’t originally included on the shortlist that was revealed a short while back and is already appearing in one of Marvel Studios “Phase Two” movies at the moment, playing the role of Fandral The Dashing in Thor: The Dark World. But apparently Marvel is so impressed with his screen-test, that they’re “open to continuing their relationship.” There is also word that an unnamed third actor may be tested after the holidays for the role. With the list narrowing down and production set to begin sometime next year expect official word in the next few months regarding the role.
